A random thought, you remember the achievement when we get the Statue of Perfection or Statue of True Perfection. Everyday we received iridium ore or random items, then how will the SDV/SVE Bachelors, (can you add the adventurers and mages) gonna react to this huge looking (gold/iridium) teddy bear appear in the farm and everyday a random item pops out.

(I mean I would find it weird and intriguing, that I woke up the next day just to see a huge looking teddy bear appeared on my spouse's arms.)

SDV bachelors react to Statue of Perfection/True Perfection:

...Was there some kind of strange fashion for huge jewelled statues or something? It wasn't enough for Shane to find a gold statue of Lewis in Marnie's room (of course, she refused to say how it got there in the first place), but now Farmer had one. Well, at least Shane's spouse had chosen a cute animal instead of one with the hideous mayor's face on it. "Why?" "That statue gives us ore every day." "...So you can do nothing and you'll make a profit. Wow, that's handy stuff." A useful statue and a nice looking one, so Shane didn't mind.

Imagining the life of a rich and famous athlete, which Alex aspired to, he still didn't understand some of the oddities of people living in luxury. For example, the habit of ordering gold statues with encrusted gems. Alex's spouse had received a statue of Perfection as a reward for their deeds, but those who just bought them and tried to pass them off as some kind of achievement? Weird. They usually also ugly looking, not like Farmer's statue that looks like a bear, or maybe it's a cat, and... ??? Did the statue just give him a prismatic shard??????

"Darling, where did you get this?" "One statue was given to me by Grandpa. The other I got as a reward." Never before had Harvey seen statues as tall as himself made of pure iridium. The doctor hadn't paid much attention to it before, thinking they were just strange decorations made of inexpensive metal. But later, while rearranging the bedroom, Harvey began to scrutinise each of the statues. "Your Grandpa had unusual taste in furniture." "It's not about taste, it's about to get ore." And Farmer took the iridium ore and the prismatic shard from the two statues, leaving Harvey in complete shock.

To be honest, Sebastian was a little disappointed when Farmer told him that the Statue of Perfection wasn't some sort of totem for worshipping spirits or gods. Too bad, he was already prepared to listen with interest about how these statues were connected to all sorts of occult stuff, but alas. "Well, I wouldn't say the statues are simple, hon." When Sebby saw with his own eyes that these metal figures yielded ore, he opened his mouth in amazement. "Cool." Okay, now Sebastian was even more interested in how this magic statue worked.

Sam's been doting on the cute faces of the iridium statues for about half an hour now. "Heh, adorable. Where did you acquire that statue?" "Got it from Grandpa's Shrine." "...Huh? From where?" The young guitarist guessed that the statues were unusual, but he didn't realise that there was a whole adventure story behind them with all the weirdness. "And one of the conditions of getting statue was to pet your dog?" "Yeah! Well, I'd pet the dog anyway because I love our dog, statue or not, but yeah." Sam doesn't understand anything, but he's still interested! Like wow, cool magic statue!

When Elliott was touring for his book signings, he managed to visit several museums in Zuzu City that were full of similarly unusual statues and figures. At least the statues his spouse purchased weren't the spawn of nightmares (Elliott doesn't judge art, but he certainly wouldn't want those decorations in his home). "They're not just cute, dear" When one of the statues produced a prismatic shard, the writer was speechless. But then he had an idea... "The hero went on an adventure in search of a statue of eternal wealth... Not a bad plot for a novel, don't you think?"

SVE bachelors react to Statue of Perfection/True Perfection:

Magnus can't believe his own eyes. "This is an endless source of iridium ore - a dream for treasure seekers, and a topic of discussion among mages and witches as to the origin of this relic. But also the cause of death for many, ruined by their own greed and envy." The wizard hopes that his spouse will not meet the same fate. He also tries to restrain himself from the urge to study the Statue of Perfection by being cautious. Magnus knows that Farmer's intentions are pure, and they have earned such a reward through hard work, but just in case.

"You definitely had to go through many trials and do incredible things to obtain such a treasure, my dear. A worthy reward for someone like you." Lance knows very well that even the richest person in the world cannot afford such a magical statue, it only has to be earned. And his dear spouse has earned not one, but two whole statues. Lance knows how these statues work, so not surprised about that. But the pink-haired man is more interested in the exact merits for which Farmer was so honoured. Lance wouldn't mind hearing their story over a glass of wine.

Oh, it's.... the Statue of Perfection! It's real! What? Of course Victor knows about it! Well, not that he knows for sure, but he's read books about various artifacts and relics that were covered in mysteries. The books themselves were written by adventurers, and there were at least a few mentions of a legendary Statue of Perfection that would bring the owner happiness and wealth. Or something like that. But now Victor's spouse has been given a true legend for their hard work! It's impressive, and he is very proud of Farmer!

It wasn't even the fact that the two pure iridium statues yielded ore and a prismatic shard every day that interested Camilla. The Castle Village witch believes there is something else stored inside, something that would be good to study. Wealth doesn't interest her, but potential magic does.... "I wonder how the Farmer got such a treasure, hmm? You'll tell your friend Camilla, right?

The first time Alesia saw the statues of Perfection, she thought Farmer worshipped some kind of animal spirits. She herself is an Yoba worshipper, but has no dislike for other beliefs. "If this is not totem, then what?" From the information she's received about the statue, the sniper is silent from shock for a few seconds, then says, "According to the legends, people, blended with greed, killed each other to get their hands on these relics. Do not repeat their fate, young adventurer. And be careful who you share this information with." Alesia hoped Farmer wouldn't get themself into trouble...

Jadu is going to faint with happiness. These are the same statues of Perfection that wizards and adventurers have been searching for for centuries! The metal artifacts made of pure iridium simply radiate magic! They have a rather lovely appearance, the wizard should note, very cute.... But he's distracted! Jadu almost begs Farmer to let him study them. Like Camilla, he's interested in the knowledge hidden in the statues, not the iridium ore itself.

Are these THE statues of Perfection that half of all adventurers and wizards would kill themselves over? Pfft, it looked like some cheap obscure bear-faced thing. Isaac is not impressed. And the presence of ore in the statue didn't surprise him much either ("I've seen stranger things"). Still, the grumpy adventurer will not deny the fact that Farmer has achieved this, albeit silly-looking, reward by hard work. So they're worth something. Maybe Farmer is not as hopeless as Isaac previously thought. ("Thanks Isaac. I guess...").

Random DogMan movie scene.

(This was something that was dwelling in the back of my mind ever since seeing the trailer for the dogman movie. I know it's rated as a kids movie but what can I say? I'm a sucker for angst. I do apologize in advance if this does trigger some DogMan fans. Anyway enjoy!!)

The town and streets were empty. Dogman stood bold, as Petey was piloting a giant robot.

Petey: AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!! I gotta say DogMan, today's been a lot more interesting then our past battles. You still managed to stay in one piece.

DogMan: *Growls*

Petey: Listen, listen, I'm a cat of evil, but that doesn't mean we can't... negotiate.

DogMan gave Petey a confused look.

Petey: I have an offer for you DogMan, and it involves someone you may or may not know.

The robot lifted it's fist revealing Chief in its grasp as he weakly squirmed.

DogMan: *worried dog noises*

But I can understand why since most dogs are loyal to people they care about weather or not they know them. You were always a good boy...That was what I liked about you the most...dog...Man..

Chiefs hand slipped off DogMan's head going limp on the ground, his eyes now shut. DogMan nudges his head to wake him up, but got no response.

DogMan: *whimpering*....AROOOOOOOO!

Sarah Hatoff: Oh no....

Petey: *Groans* Yawwwn! Are you done yet? Gosh you always gotta drag on with stuff like this!

DogMan: *Growls*...

DogMan glanced over at Sarah, holding Chief close to him. DogMan gently handed Chief to Sarah.

Hi!

Fitness anon here… 

Perks of living in Europe and having more than one kid I can actually assure you that everything a certain blogger emphasises as special we do here more or less regularly.

We drive more than two hours on a weekend to go to a beach, visit friends or basically have a nice time with family and friends away from home. Our kids are familiar with this way of life from an early age and adapt in general very well. 

Europeans are really capable of handling these kind of things all at once and we really like to have this kind of experience with our kids like a short sightseeing trip, visiting capitals of our neighbouring countries, exploring different countrysides or visiting historical places or museums.  So nothing special or unusual at all. 

But maybe for some blogger who is not interested in actual facts, it is just mind-blowing and does not fit into the agenda.

I am really sorry (not!) if I have destroyed an illusion someone wanted to create for some people. 

And also as usual - as pointed out in previous posts - all of the reels were down by herself. No doubt about it.

Thank you, as always for coming back with more witty insight. Lifestyles across the world vary and, of course, US vs Europe is no exception.

But when you are THE Troll of an entire fandom and you do have a history for being used to promote various convenient narratives, you certainly do not bother explaining these to your essentially US-based followers. Who could not care less about anything, unless it fits their own limited views, I am very sorry to say it.

I remember lots of week-ends spent with family and friends, when I was a child. Yes, even in a dark, grey Eastern European country with severe food shortages during the second half of the 80s: we made do and God, we were resourceful!

So much so, in fact, that I kept the week-end travel habit for life. Probably dozens of city breaks, at home and abroad. Never regretted a thing.

That being said, a divorced parents' child would perhaps need to keep a consistent routine of sorts. I remember the absurd fuss about it when I was one of those children, a long time ago, even if my father never wanted shared custody. He just, heh: he just left and that's it. But this is just me, maybe - still, something strikes me as odd, in all this.

And yeah, I totally agree. Clearly a dynamic duo trip: why do people have to make a whole bunch of crazy speculations about it is certainly beyond me.

And it seems she's done her homework. Vriska isn't on a random walk, like Karkat - she's taken the time to study the kids' session and familiarize herself with its events. Any actions she nudges John into taking here will be very deliberate.

I mean, it's kind of arguable. No matter what you do with John, here, you're not really the 'reason' that he was going to do anything. John has to do these things, because the Alpha Timeline says so, and it doesn't care if you approve or not.

Vriska is only able to pretend that she's 'causing' current events because they're what she wants to happen anyway. If she saw a future event that she didn't approve of, though, she'd be powerless to prevent it. Her control isn't real.

It’s funny that we got two asks related to those two’s level of blushing, so please don’t mind me replying to both of you in the same reply.

To answer the first question, I feel like it’s not impossible for Malleus to blush very brightly and strongly to Sebek! I think Sebek is full of surprises and has a lot of potential, and even Malleus could get flustered by him at some point in the future, be it from the way he acts or from the way he makes him feel in an intimate setting. But for now, Sebek to him is like a naive little pup that can’t hide his emotions at all and overreacts to anything, so Malleus feels like the calm and collected one with him around, and is in pretty much in control of both his own emotions and the situation. The day Sebek sees Malleus’ flustered red face will be the day Sebek becomes a man…

And to answer the second question, it’s a good theory that Sebek’s human side affects his level of blushing! There could be some truth to it, but as I was thinking about it, I ended up falling into a rabbit hole of “but wait, is Malleus cold-blooded? Can he not regulate his own body temperature? He literally can though if he is a dragon, right? Wait, what is going on??”, so I can’t say that I have a proper headcanon for this one… But it’s kind of a useless tangent on my side because Sebek is just completely in love and the heat of his blushing cheeks and ears would keep Malleus warm anyway <3

It’s a cute idea to think about the way their bodies reacting differently because of Sebek being a half-fae though!

Now this may be the artists doing Ace dirty. But there are posts showing Ace's lack of muscle compared to someone like Duece. Like I imagine Ace flexing his lil muscles and Duece unintentionally humbles Ace by showing his more toned muscles

Ace is built like a little bitch. And even if he gets with someone like Malleus. Mal could probably snap his fingers and Ace would be reduced to dust.

Anon, we love those! Physical strength isn’t really a factor when it comes to figuring out whether we like a character as a dom or not. Sometimes it’s super hot when the dom is overwhelmingly stronger, but a lot of times the other way around is just as hot. Like you said, Ruggie and Leona are a good example! Malleus also gets dominated in our ships, this is also a good example, I think… Contrasts and interesting power balance makes things spicier~

Same with the dick size. Sometimes one’s soul just craves a bottom with a bigger and longer peen getting completely dominated and messed up by someone of a smaller structure, potentially weaker and a smaller peen… is this why I always draw Idia with such a long dick? Maybe. Now that I think about it, a number of our bottoms have bigger dicks than their tops – Idia with Azul, Vil with Rook, Malleus if we don’t go “Lilia is huge” route… it depends, but once again, it’s all about contrasts and tasty visuals!

I still can’t believe that we went so far with the whole “Lilia is huge” joke that I can’t even think about him being small anymore, but him having a tiny thing would also be fun! His little dagger would be just as deadly, rest assured, so Malleus shouldn’t get too upset about it. I should draw small!Lilia more often.

Malleus with Ace would be such a good combo though… I’m still thinking about them together, sigh~ It would affect Ace’s ego in so many wonderful ways. Imagine being Ace and fucking the Malleus Draconia? With such a gorgeous body? This ship really deserves more attention...

Anyways! To answer the last question in this set, Ace being weaker or stronger than Deuce wouldn’t be a deciding factor. Ace is the top of the ship to us because Deuce is a little bunny bottom bitch; it’s all about energy, not size.

But also, I don’t know if Ace and Deuce are so different in terms of muscle definition 🤔 That recent groovy made Deuce look so buff and I’m not sure if I buy it lol But maybe it’s just my headcanons and biases. I always felt like they’re pretty much the same size, with Deuce maybe being slightly more muscular, but in areas different than Ace.

Azul’s tentacles are probably more sensitive when he is aroused, but a tip of one particular tentacle is always much more sensitive than the others. He doesn’t use it as much as other tentacles.

I'm dropping off a plot bunny.

So an ABO verse with alpha Dream and omega Hob in a long-term relationship where they are basically husbands and mates except that Night and Time would disown Dream for tying himself to Hob because Hob would not advance the Endless's standing at all. So Dream and Hob have just been rolling with it, because as much as Hob loves Dream and believes in him Dream would not survive a day in a service industry or office job and needs that family money. Dream's art supplies are not cheap, and Hob does not want to see Dream deprived of the joy of creation.

Their relationship had been ignored previously but Night and Time are getting pushy about getting Dream set up with a proper society omega and not some random guy who only avoids assault charges because no one wants to admit having their ass handed to them by an omega.

So it's a stalemate, if they get married they lose near everything and a stable life, if they don't they lose each other and their happiness.

But then Hob has a thought. Every time Desire has had a pregnancy scare with a partner the first thing Time and Night do is try and get them married because a bastard out of wedlock is worse in their minds than marrying down.

So a child would solve their problems, as long as it looked accidental because if it comes out as a planned defiance Dream would be disowned. They want kids but were planning on it once Hob had his teaching degree and they were both settled in their careers. After talking about it, Dream agrees because a child and a marriage is the best kind change that can come out of the situation.

So they put the plan into action, switching cycle suppressants for just scent suppressants and waiting for Hob's heat to start. They both barely succeed at not being totally insane around others about the fact that they are going to have a kid. Hob changes his diet and starts taking supplements to "combat the exhaustion of late night study sessions." Dream has to refrain from searching out and buying a ton of baby stuff.

When the heat hits, it's a total hormonal overwhelm for both of them. If they do it right, Hob will be pregnant at the end of it, and it's a heady thought. They will finally be tied together permanently in a way no one can deny them. All Dream wants to do is bite Hob's mating gland and claim him fully but a cycle suppressant would stop the gland from swelling so he can't bite if they want to pull off the whole accidental birth control failure angle. Dream is pulled between the absolute abandon of knocking Hob up and the restraint of not biting him even when Hob is begging for it.

After the heat life keeps moving, and they hope but they can't buy pregnancy test because the parents might find out so they have to wait for something that might send someone to the doctor to check out. The scent suppressants mean they can't rely on smell either. Hob has never wanted to puke so much in his life.

Eventually, one of Hob's classmates drags him to the health clinic because he might not be throwing up, but he has looked bad in the mornings for weeks now, and that is not normal. Of course, Hob is pregnant, and he has to act panicked about it in the clinic when all he wants to do is celebrate.

They reach out to Desire on the basis of being the only sibling who has dealt with a scare, and also Dream knows they will tell Night and Time immediately as an attempt to get Dream disowned from the family.

Dream and Hob end up getting everything they wanted, continued acces to the Endless funds, a marriage dated to before Hob's heat, a mating bite when Hob's pregnancy hormones swell up the mating bond and of course a child that is both of them that they get to love and spoil.

This is such an absolutely genius concept, and you've written it up so perfectly, I honestly couldn't stop reading it (which is why I've been hoarding it in my ask box for a few days, heh). Thank you so much for sharing it with me.

I'm imagining many, many years down the line when Dream and Hob get to relate all of this backstory to their kid(s). The two them going all soft and doe eyed as they tell the story. The kid pretending to gag but secretly loving how their parents went above and beyond to be together, and to have their own beautiful little family <3

And she would feel disgusted of herself if she accepts a commitment that she wouldn't really be participating because she doesn't even know how these things work! But those people who did confess their love to her will always hold a special place in her heart... so that's why she killed them (literally)

💚 but when time past and she started feeling some strange feelings like that, she will starts getting confused and will be more flustered around them, timid even. She will just became a mumbling and a stuttering mess, not in a shy and cute way but more like a really messy mulfucntioning human being that says some pretty random and dumb stuff. She will also feel like she has the need to protect them while also being so possessive and clingy towards them.

I brainstormed a bit which popular ships came to mind and also went on AO3 to filter for the most written Silm ships. I actually love all the ones that came up (especially Angbang haha), so I suppose I have nothing in that regard.

If I wanted to give a funny answer, I'd say Beren/Lúthien (the author's canonical self-insert would count as fairly popular, yeah?) because yes, I get the idea and there's a lot of romantic stuff going on, but I will never understand giving up fucking hot angels in Valinor for the sake of a human man who came crawling out of the bushes one day (listen, you guys do you, and creeping on people in forests seems to be some sort of Ainurin/Valinorean dating tradition, but I would be calling the police, ok? Don't creep on me in my forest please unless your name is Eönwë). Lúthien, girl, I love you, but this choice is personally offensive to me and my efforts to get my hands on hot angels. Maybe I'm also just too arospec for this, happy pride month.

(I should perhaps add that such opinions are always subject to change, all it takes is one person giving me one idea that gets me thinking and the entire thing could look different tomorrow. These are snapshots of a moment in time, if you will.)

Hmmm, to properly answer that I would probably have to get into my NOTPs and that's a topic I don't want to discuss on this blog.

Please don't feel bad for asking, I appreciate it, but that's just one thing I decided for myself because, while I think nobody should put too much emphasis on my - a random person on the internet that I believe nobody here has met! - opinion, some people do and/or get upset that not everyone likes their ship. And I get it, I don't like people talking crap about my favorite characters and ships to my face either. So yeah, I just don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable :)

Heh. This will be a fun one, but bear with me for a second, alright?😅

I'm going to say Russingon. Now, now, put down the pitchforks. When I read the Silmarillion, I was very new to fandom and shipping in general and was also reading mostly just for an overview of everything and to learn more about Melkor and Mairon, so I didn't think too much of the Russingon interactions. Hopping onto AO3 immediately after, I quickly learned about them being shipped, went "oh yeah, I totally see this" and have been a supporter ever since.

The reason why its popularity surprises me is quite simply that I come from a fandom where people were incredibly weird and hostile regarding any sort of incest, including all variations of pseudo-incest ("sibling-coded", found family, etc.). I essentially went from a fandom that bullied me out of shipping two characters who were neither biologically related nor had grown up together nor even knew each other prior to their meeting as adults simply because they apparently had sibling vibes to a fandom whose top ship are half-cousins.

In case I haven't made it sufficiently clear: It was a very positive surprise. I frankly think very little of fandoms who clutch their pearls over pixels on a screen kissing and police what people can and can't ship, and I feel just so much more comfortable in a fandom where people are more chill and used to it. anyway i made some drafts for urs' speech. they started out as them giving thoughts on rigel and vega, but then spiraled into describing a sequence of events i have in mind so far. these kinda read like internal thoughts/diary entries but people said kind words about them

"He's the one I met first… I think. Maybe Vega was around too before I noticed the difference. It's almost scary how alive he seems. I totally forget he's just a program, sometimes. Though I think there's more to him than meets the eye… But also, because of that, I wish he stopped acting so subservient to me. Seeing how alive he is, it's just not comfortable, y'know?"

"The second one of them I met… Something about Rigel's- I mean- Aster's expression seemed off, and he didn't quite respond at first. He speaks… differently. Slow, monotonous. Kind of apropos of nothing specific rn, but it does annoy me a bit that this season is rewriting Crowley's goodness - it really felt to me (in s1 and in the book) like while he'd never been that bad in the first place, he'd become nicer through proximity to Aziraphale just as Aziraphale had been made more cynical etc. through exposure to him. Both of them changing each other until they came closer to meeting in the middle. Now Crowley seems rather static and just acting on Aziraphale.

Bribing the music shop guy with a rare Doctor Who annual ... Does Aziraphale keep tabs on all his neighbors' tastes in case he needs to pull their levers or did he just assess the man in seconds and Know he'd go for that? Or is it a Lucifer-ish "I know what you secretly desire" talent?

Very noticeable to me that Nina always says "partner" and the magic shop guy says "spouse" - nothing wrong with that, but I wonder whether non-fannish people are picking up on it.

What's the point of showing Aziraphale inviting Mrs. Cheng when there is no conflict at all there? It's not funny and doesn't advance anything. Likewise the French cafe - this is long and not very funny.

I LOVE that Nina is the one who wants to talk about the Christmas lights. And I loved that Nina's convo with Crowley took things up from "random person thinks they're dating, haha" to "no, they actually appear to be dating to outsiders because the way they interact is Like That."

"Far too pure of heart to be anybody's bit on the side" - So on one level I love this because that's the dynamic!! Crowley thinking Aziraphale is simply too pure to do anything as tawdry as have a relationship just for sex (it's actually because he's aspec but never mind, not for now). On another level, I'm like, come on now, you know he's always being selfish, "pure of heart" is a bit much.

"Other people's love lives always seem so much more straightforward than our own!" Yeah, she said the theme of the season out loud.

"Smitten, I believe." Just me or does Aziraphale look for a moment like he knows exactly what he's saying there?

I would have liked more time spent on Nina actually dealing with her abusive partner, rather than just seeing her texts. Trying to assert herself or move past it. Could have done that with some of the wasted minisode time!

Like I said in my big wrapup post: very fanfictiony that Crowley actually addresses what Gabriel said to him as Aziraphale (because canons so often gloss over the stuff we want to dwell on, we want apologies and recriminations) but I like it. And I like that Jim!Gabriel is genuinely sorry that it happened, and that Crowley stops him from jumping out the window. The empty house analogy is cool.

The matchbox being from the Resurrectionist could have been hinted earlier, like we could have seen that they gave away matchboxes in that ep? Or did we and I just didn't notice?

The angels not being able to concentrate on Jim!Gabriel is well done. I still love Muriel so much. Pls pls pls bigger part for Muriel in s3.

"Everything else was taken." (Re cafe names.) Funny. Crowley and Nina's dynamic in that little conversation, Crowley convincing her to go to the meeting is not unlike the way he talks to Aziraphale when Aziraphale is being stubborn.

The worldbuilding - "junior demons, practically the damned", do the damned eventually become demons?

Seamstress bit is a good callback to Discworld but TOO LONG. Should have skipped to the "description" after the first time she couldn't say "sex worker". Likewise the "Jim messes with his face and they think it's going to be a sex thing" gag.

Maggie is me, in that I inevitably end up asking other women to dance at reenactment balls because nobody asks me 🙃 Is kind of fucked up that Aziraphale is messing with everyone's head but I enjoy it so whatever. Not inherently more selfish than Crowley making it rain on them, I suppose.

Aziraphale making a move by pulling Crowley into the set 😭 It feels tricky continuity-wise in that he's kind of defined by NOT making moves, but ... it's cute.

Hello dutchie! I've re-read your fics multiple times now and now I want to write my own! I have to ask: do you have any writing tips or advice about fanfic in general? I enjoy your pacing but I have no clue how you manage to update every week. Cheers!

OH MY GOD EEEEE ;___; IM SO HAPPY TO HEAR THAT MY FRIEND!! AND HIII ^_^ that's so awesome im so proud of you!!! hmm idk if i'm really a great person to get advice from, this is just stuff that works for me personally and my hectic irl schedule so just take it with a grain of salt!! ;-; <3 BUT i will gladly talk about it HEHE!! i'll actually just make an entire post about my writing process at some point because making long posts forces me to reflect and i'm overdue for a Self Reflection on how i write so! if/when i do that i'll link it back on this post heh ^_^ BUT ANYWAY!

i have a few Personal Rules about posting/writing fic that i must never break... and this is...:

feel free to break up your (longer) fic into parts. this prevents SO much burnout and gives you time to breathe between writing! if you're in it for the long haul like me, it's easy to get overwhelmed and feel like you're on a Crunch, which is never good! :'(

so i don't technically write a new chapter every week and post it on friday; i've had malus, for example, complete for a few months now! and so now it just "posts on a queue" where i just upload the next chapter every week! so for example, if malus is 21 chapters, at 1 chapter a week, that gives me 21 weeks (about 5 months) to write my next fic. that's a lot of time!

always finish the fic before you post it. this seems super unrealistic At First but i love the "arc/seasons/parts" style of posting, especially if it's long fics. nobody's saying you have to finish a 293849283498234 chapter fic in one day LOL but if you find that you're overwhelmed at the idea of writing Long Fics, then don't write one! write shorter parts that Combine and Create a long fic! :-) see what i mean? this is also an effective way to show time passing in your fic instead of just "~*~ two years later ~*~"-type of disclaimers.

chapters shouldn't be more than like... 3 google doc pages and paragraphs should be broken up. i like keeping my fic chapters short-ish so that they're easily digestible and force readers to Linger on the parts that i want them to. giant walls of text can sometimes put Huge Moments in your fics at the risk of getting lost!

let yourself sit on it for at least 2 days before you post it. do not read your own fic during the "sitting on it" time. let yourself back away from it and invite your mind to think about other things!! i've caught a LOT of my own mistakes or inconsistencies this way!

much easier said than done, but try not to let yourself get wrapped up in "the numbers" of posting (views, kudos, etc). obviously our goal as creatives is to get our work seen, but please remember to value yourself and your art above the numbers game! ;-; it literally took me a year (as of january lol) of constantly promoting my fics on twt (and later on here once i made an acct) before i found all of the amazing readers i have now! ^u^ and i wouldn't trade them for the world. i'd happily take 10 readers who comment and talk to me like a person over 100 hits/kudos or whatever!

that being said, don't be afraid to promote your fics. i felt annoying and stupid promoing mine but i'm ultimately so glad i did

there are probably others but i think these are my biggest ones (other than delving into like. tf2-specific "guides" i have for myself but i won't bore you with those). as far as tips for outlining or planning, i just have a channel in my gf and i's server dedicated to my fic that i post random snippet's i've written and want to include, random one-word concepts, like literally any time my brain has a Fic Related Thought i slap it in there. i'm also a huge fan of Linear/Traditional outlining too and do that with my more Complicated/Larger concepts that i want to execute in my fics so that i can stay consistent! :-)

Being away from your mother could be a good thing. Especially if your mother was horrible like hers. Ounce again, she was dragged to another grand event just because her mother her mother wanted to look professional. Or as her mother stated: "Bringing you along only shows that I'm professional at what I do and actually makes sure you're under control. If I had it my way, I would've never had a daughter at all. Now go make yourself look at least decent. I have a few things to do before we leave." Great mom, right? Right now she was slowly walking around the other guests. Politely excusing herself. She never really knew what to do in big crows. She didn't really know anyone, so it would be awkward to just start talking to some random stranger. "Ink!," a voice called out. Stopping, she turned around to face the person. "P-Prince Damian?," she squeaked. The prince of H-ll himself was making his way over to her. Her heart sped up and she felt her face heat up as he stopped in front of her. "Hi," he greeted. "Um...H-Hi." Oh, man. Why couldn't she stop stuttering in front of him?! "Y-Your highness." "No. None of that fancy stuff, please. We're both friends here." "R-Right. Um.....How has your night been?" He shrugged. "Pretty boring. I'm only here because my parents made me. What about you?" "I....My...mother brought me." She looked down. "Oh." He already knew about how her mother treated her and didn't like it. "You....uh..maybe wanna dance?" "R-Really? With me?" He rubbed the back of his head. "Uh....yeah. I mean..You're the only one here that's really worth talkin' to." "O-Ok." He offered her his hand and she shakily reached out to take it. He gently pulled her out towards the floor, where others were dancing. He gently pulled her closer to him and pressed his other hand to her back. Together they glided across the floor with him guiding her along. "So...heh..You like your job?" "I guess. Taking care of the nightmares is scary. I....would really like to paint and m-maybe perform one day." "Really? Well....I may know somebody that knows somebody that works in the movie business. I just want to write my story

This is about how I came across MordeTwi and how it became one of my obsessions. It's kinda funny to look back to because I never really cared about Regular Show back then and I was one of those people who avoided MLP like it was the plague.

The first time I encountered a redraw of the Airplanes meme was actually in the year 2020, when I was browsing the Comics & Cartoons board of 4chan.

It was a "Barney Bait" thread, this was the thread's thumbnail. I had no strong reaction to this image, nor thought to figure out the context for its creation. I wasn't fully aware about the ship yet at this point, I just assumed this image was a commission and not part of a greater cultural phenomenon. Okay, I'll admit: this was also during the time I was in a phase where I irrationally hate Regular Show and what it stands for (I believe the Simp meme was popular at this point too), and when I looked at this image then, I swear I was like "Heh. Mordecai is being partnered up with some random pony." (I didn't know at the time that Twilight is also a main protagonist like he is lol)

Jump forward to more or less a year later, I was binge watching Jabroni Mike's stream VODs. One video in particular has Frederick Knudsen as a guest, and it was about AI generated images (this was back when Dall-E wasn't a thing yet, I think). One of the prompts was the lyrics of Airplanes, and at some point Fred had to bring up MordeTwi because Mike had no idea what's going on. That one fateful second... Fred shared the original Airplanes drawing (Mike showing it to us thru OBS), and that's when it hit me...

"Hey, this image looks familiar. Hmm... A meme. And it involves Mordecai and MLP..."

I had to pause the video but it only took me seconds to remember that 4chan thread. This was also the first time I learned of the pony's name – Twilight Sparkle. "Ah. I know my search term now, thanks Fred!"

This was when the Airplanes meme was still just about to blow up into mainstream popularity (re: resurge as a trend big time). Searching MordeTwi during this time was better since you got to see more of the older stuff that wasn't to do with the redraw trend or the Airplanes meme in general. At the same time I was deep diving in this search, I was also looking at my browser history trying to rediscover that 4chan thread to make sure I wasn't going crazy (actually, I had to look it up through an archive, e.g. Desu Archive).

I learned a few things that day:

1, Mordecai x Twilight Sparkle was a thing for a long time

2, the ship itself did not stem from the original meme image – which there's a trend over it – but alot of people don't seem to know that

3, there was a trend back in 2020 to "redraw MordeTwi"

4, there was an ongoing trend to make content related to: A, the ship, or B, the meme based on the ship.

There's just something about this pairing, it just... stuck to my head. Like, it's some kind of cosmic horror – they're bound together one way or another, their pairing is inevitable, and your mind just won't quiet about it. But there's something else I learned about MordeTwi in those early times: the original shippers of this pairing were kind of the underdogs. This was a full on fanbase too, I must add, with a fan club. Just a few days in for their existence and they were already getting hate sent their way; they were misunderstood – though granted, they didn't have a FAQ section to clear things up, until two years after their club was founded.

Suffice it to say: learning about this ship – how its' fans/creators got treated over time, and how it was perceived overall... that got me rooting for MordeTwi. It's a pity that MordeTwi is mostly seen these as "that fake ship/joke pairing that a nine-year-old made up out of nowhere".
