Trans Shawn Lesgo
(for @movietonight)
shawn was always kinda eh about being a girl. hed wear dresses at maddys insistence, and socialize with girls, but really it was telling that his first (and only, for a while) friend was a boy
he came to the idea of being trans all on his own, although he didnt know the terms for it, when he was 7
i have a flashback in my fic Occam Was WRONG about what happened like right after he realized (cut his hair, panicked, came out to gus)
afterwards, when shawn was found by henry, shawn told him that he didnt feel like a girl and wanted to be a boy instead, henry told him to think on it during bed and if during the meorning he still felt the same theyd do smth about it
henry, ofc, asks maddy about it, and maddy has the Right Terms
shawn still feels the same in the morning, they decide to use he/him and let him pick out a new name
he chooses Shawn James Spencer :3
basically yeah gus is chill his parents are ok everyone else sucks
this is his main source of bullying tbh
physical dysphoria gets significantly worse around puberty, starts using medically safe bandages for binding (that stuff from the hospital that you use to compress) . also he totally like broke his leg so theyd give him that, at least once
i have maddy leaving like, the last year of middle school, for more drama! this makes it harder to really be confident in himself since part of his support system is gone
so basically ppl who support him: henry, gus, some odd officers that henry works with
in high school, befriends dennis and abigail
is the 'cool kid', almost no one knows hes trans. this is, ofc, on purpose
after running away, finds a couple odd trans people to relate to and definitely a lot of transphobes 😬
he starts T, kinda here and there since hes moving so often. also he cant afford it a lot of the time (he was definitely homeless a lot, prioritizing his bike and t over shelter)
comes back to santa barbara
wow! nobody really gives a shit anymore abt him being trans (i mean it has been like. 11 years)
i feel like hes comfortable with his own body now that he can theoretically grow a beard. like his body looks outwardly male to cis ppl.
so he doesnt get top or bottom surgery, and doesnt plan to (shhhh im not projecting (im projecting))
aaand thats mostly it! :3

fifty bucks & six months.
spencer reid x gender neutral reader new relationship, secret keeping nonsense, 4.5k words, ao3 a/n; turns out i love writing texting fic but tumblr destroys the formatting rip
zero months.
You smile conspiratorially, extending a pinkie towards Spencer and he gives you a skeptical look.
“You know the odds of being found out immediately are-” he starts, but you cut him off.
“Astronomical, I know. I know. But don’t you think it’ll be fun to see how long we can push it?” you wheedle, not caring that your voice sounds more like begging than is strictly dignified because seeing the way Spencer’s nose crinkles in amusement at your heavy handed persuasion is too adorable to pass up. You scoot closer on the couch, tapping the end of his nose with your pinkie finger, letting him catch your hand between his as you continue “I think we’ve got a good shot at hiding it for a little while. It would be like a game.”
Spencer draws your captive hand to his lips, brushing them across your knuckles and watching fondly as you forge ahead in your campaign to persuade him, enjoying the show and the attention too much to tell you he’s already on board. Your eyes are shining with the prospect of the caper, and you’ve made no move to take your hand back from him, and Spencer’s pretty sure he’d be more than happy to sit with you in this moment forever. “I mean-” you go on, gesturing animatedly with your free hand, “you’re like-a really good liar when you want to be. And everyone else always forgets how good you are at it.”
He snorts at that and the sound makes you light up, eyes tracking the arch of his brows, the warmth in his soft brown eyes, memorising the way he looks like this; utterly unbothered, completely at ease. It might be your favourite version of him, but that race has always been a tight one with no clear winner in sight. You have lots of favourite versions of Spencer. Twisting your hand in his, you tangle your fingers together, savouring the way you feel his thumb glide delicately along your skin and the unhidden joy in his face at the simple show of affection.
Time to play your trump card.
“$50 says we can hide it from the whole group for at least six months. If everyone figures it out before then, you win. But if not everyone has worked it out by then, I win.”
The mischievous shine in your eyes is irresistible, and Spencer smiles, disentangling one of his hands from yours to extend his own pinky finger.
“You’re on.”
The words barely make it out of his mouth before you’re colliding with him, pressing your lips to his.
two months.
“So, how long has this whole thing been going on?” Derek’s question catches Spencer off guard, and, based on the way he can see you freeze in his peripheral vision, takes you by surprise as well. Sliding into the driver's seat of the SUV, Derek continues “I hope you didn’t think you were gonna be able to keep me in the dark for long, pretty boy. You should know better than that.”
Following mechanically after him, Spencer takes the passenger seat, trying to frame his next statement as carefully as possible as he hears your door close and the car start. “We were-going to tell you guys-” he begins uncomfortably, glancing back to you for support, but you look just as on edge as he feels. “We were just gonna-keep it to ourselves for a while-before telling Hotch and everything-” he tries again, the mounting tension levering his shoulders higher and higher with every passing moment, but then Derek just laughs, shaking his head.
“Hey, I’m happy for you, kid. For both of you.” He spares a look at you in the back seat through the rear view mirror, and you can feel the tension in your jaw relax, the furrows in your brow straightening out at the note of approval in Derek’s voice. “I’m glad you two finally figured it out,” he says, fondly, and you laugh.
“I bet Spence we could keep it from you guys at least six months,” you explain, reaching forwards through the centre console to link your pinky with Spencer’s, and the touch of your hand releases the last of the tension he had been harbouring as he covers your hand with the other one of his own. He knows Derek clocks the motion, filing it away in his mind somewhere, but he doesn’t care about the scrutiny so much right now. Not when your hand is so warm and comfortable in his.
Derek reaches for the dial on the radio and flicks through the channel, thinking about something, and as you watch, a slow mischievous smirk spreads across his face a moment later before he glances first at Spencer and then at you.
“I’ll tell you what,” he says to you, and Spencer can feel a familiar grin tugging at his own lips as he watches a plan take shape in his friend’s eyes. “I’m happy to sit on this information for a while for a cut of the winnings from whichever one of you comes out on top.” He snorts good naturedly as he continues “I have my own bet to win with Prentiss, so if you two help me win that one, I’ll cut you in too.”
“A quid pro quo of sorts,” Spencer says slowly, and he feels your fingers tighten around his, as you snort softly, and he knows instinctually you’re grinning the same way you always do when you’re winning a game. “I think we can do that.”
Derek grins, turning the music up as he nods, eyes on the road. “Then you two love birds have got yourselves a deal.”
two months and two weeks.

four months.
Lingering by the elevator, you glance around at the uncharacteristically silent office building, waiting for Spencer to leave the bullpen. The sound of his footfalls drawing nearer makes you smile and you mentally applaud yourself for suggesting the two of you remained behind after disembarking from the plane, taking advantage of the manufactured privacy to take the same car home, back to his apartment.
When he sees you waiting for him, he can’t help the soft fond smile that tugs at his face, as he reaches for your hand, sliding his fingers into yours with a gentle squeeze, the quiet of the building allowing him to indulge in the show of affection. You return the squeeze, leaning your head on his shoulder with a yawn and as he presses a fond kiss to your temple he’s rewarded by a sleepy hum of approval from you that sends a rush of quiet joy shooting through him.
“At least we won’t be sleeping in hotel beds again tonight,” you say, voice weary, and Spencer nods as he shuffles you into the elevator. The doors slide shut and the elevator starts to move and in the moment of absolute privacy, you steal a kiss, tilting your chin up to catch his lips with yours, revelling in the soft huff of surprise he lets out, even as he smiles against your mouth. Even after months, the simple act of kissing Spencer still feels new and thrilling somehow, like you can’t quite believe it’s something you’re allowed to do.
His nose brushes yours and he breathes “unless something big comes up, we get a sleep in tomorrow too,” and the way you beam at him sends his heart racing in his chest, unable to look away from the fondness shining in your eyes.
As the two of you exit the elevator and make your way through the Bureau car park, you tuck yourself against his side, wedging yourself under his arm with a happy sigh, eager to get yourself horizontal and asleep as fast as possible. Spencer brushes his lips against your temple again as the two of you close in on his car, almost free and clear of the office when a voice behind the two of you brings you up short.
“Reid?”
Spencer is reacting before his mind catches up, turning on his heel towards the sound of Hotch’s voice echoing through the parking lot, conscious of the incriminating way you’re still tucked against his side, even as his brain is rifling frantically through any possible excuses for the current circumstances.
“Hotch-” you step away from Spencer, cheeks flaming, not wanting to chance a look at him. “I-we-thought everyone else had gone home,” you trail off lamely, trying your hardest not to balk under Hotch’s ominously impassive scrutiny. A second passes, then another, and the short silence feels like months, or years even as the three of you stand locked in a stalemate.
“I take it the two of you would prefer to keep this under wraps?” He asks, finally, and it registers with Spencer, somewhat belatedly, that Hotch’s tone isn’t admonishing. It isn’t enough to dissipate the tension coiling in Spencer’s muscles just yet, but he spares a glance at you as he nods, and a moment later, Hotch gives the two of you a curt nod of his own. “I’ll tell you what,” he says, a shade of irony colouring his voice. “If you two fill out the paperwork for in-team relationships for me, I’ll keep it to myself. I understand privacy is hard to come by in our office.”
The words take a while to fully sink in, and you’re conscious that you’re standing there blinking and gaping at your boss like a bemused fish for a good few seconds before you’ve composed yourself enough to say “absolutely, sir. Of course. Thank you.”
Hotch nods again, heading towards his own car, and as he passes the two of you, a brief smile flashes across his face.
“Congratulations, you two. Get some sleep.”
four months and three weeks.
Spencer isn’t sure how late it is, but he knows you’re not asleep yet, the faint glow of your phone screen casting faint distorted shadows across his room as your free hand rests lightly on his chest. In the dark blue twilight of his room, the space feels undefined and dream like somehow, the line between his mind and his surroundings blurry or indistinct somehow, and as you huff out a near silent laugh at something on the screen in your hand, a thought rises to the surface of his thoughts like flotsam on an unwanted tide.
The more clinical part of his mind notes the autonomic response in his body, the way his heart lurches unpleasantly in his chest, heart rate rising with an influx of cortisol through his nervous system, automatically rifling through ways to control the anxiety response. Age old instinct surges forwards, starting to push his spiralling anxiety down out of sight so as not to bother you with it, but then your hand shifts infinitesimally on his chest, fingers curling in the soft fabric of his pyjama shirt, and for once his body is miles ahead of his brilliant mind, your name is leaving his lips before he’s really aware of it happening.
Your gaze flashes up from your phone at the sound of his voice, soft and hesitant, and you let the screen go dark as you set it down. You can feel Spencer’s heart hammering against his ribs under your palm, and your brows knit together in concern as you shift closer to his side, tracing gentle circles over his shirt with your fingertips, the repetitive motion intended to soothe, though you’re not sure if it’s for his benefit or yours.
“Yeah, baby?” You ask softly, working hard to keep the rising worry from your voice. After three years of friendship and almost six months of dating, you know him well enough to sense when his propensity for overthinking and catastrophizing is slipping out of his control. You can feel his chest rise as he inhales sharply, whatever he’s about to say cut off by second guessing, doing nothing to pacify your concern. “Spence? Is everything okay?” You ask again.
“This-bet-hiding our relationship-it’s-” he trails off, throat tight as he rolls onto his side, facing away from you, and smushing his face into the pillow, already wishing he hadn’t said anything. You’re the kindest person he’s ever met, but offering up this kind of raw insecurity feels like pulling teeth. Even if it’s you. Especially if it’s you. He doesn’t know if he’s ready to find out if you care about him enough to stay when his racing mind gets the better of him. The pillow muffles his voice as he says “never mind.”
You feel your own heart rate tic up in response to that, matching the wild beat of Spencer’s that you could feel under your palm only a second ago. “Baby, talk to me. What’s on your mind?”
He shakes his head, face still hidden in the pillow. “It’s stupid.”
He can feel the rush of your breath on his back as you sigh, and your voice is almost achingly patient as you say softly “it’s not stupid if it matters to you.” There’s a long pause, and you press yourself against his back, settling close and letting your hand slide over his side to rest on his chest, the heat of his skin sinking into yours even through his thin shirt. In spite of his height, he feels so small as you wrap yourself around him, drawing closer, trying to reassure him without yet knowing what he needs to be reassured of. “Spence?”
“Are you ashamed of-being with me? Is that why you want to hide it?” The words are almost whispered, the sound almost lost against his pillow and your heart sinks, plummeting faster and further than if you’d dropped it off the side of a skyscraper. You should’ve known he might worry about that, should have realised it might have felt that way. Remorse rises hot and bitter in your throat and you swallow it down, trying to steady your voice.
“Spencer. Sweetheart. No. Never. I could never be ashamed. I love you. I’m so sorry.” Your arms wrap more tightly around him and you bury your face against the crook of his neck, the tension you can feel in every inch of his body making you feel more cruel and short-sighted than you already do. “I’m sorry I didn’t realise it might feel like that. I could never be ashamed of being with you, Spence. You’re my favourite person.” He takes the kind of shaky, shallow breath that comes with trying not to cry and your heart breaks a little more as one of his hands slowly moves to cover yours where it rests against his chest, just over his heart.
As his hand rests over yours, his thumb strokes lightly along your knuckles, and he knows you know him well enough to notice the way his hand trembles, just a little, because then your hand is shifting against his, turning to clumsily tangle your fingers with his, holding tighter to him as he tries to collect himself, drawing in a deep, shuddering breath as his eyes squeeze shut. He can hear the contrition in your voice as you say softly “I’ve never really liked having people know everything about what’s going on in my life. And I love our friends but-something like this, that’s so-special? So new? I wanted to be able to keep it to just us for a while.”
“I’m sorry.” His voice comes out a little shaky, scarcely more than a whisper, and it’s more than you can take as you pull back and gently force him to roll over to face you. He’s not crying, but his eyes are glassy and you recognise the fight to keep the tears unshed in the tight set of his jaw and the hard line of his lips. Leaning on your elbow, you lift your free hand to gently smooth out the furrows of his brow, letting your fingers linger along the planes of his face.
“Why are you sorry,” you ask gently. “You don’t need to be sorry, baby. Not for talking to me about things that bother you. We can tell everyone else tomorrow, if you want? We can call off the bet. Derek will live. If he’s got a problem with it I’ll turn all his shirts into crop tops.”
He can tell the joke is a last bid attempt to make him smile, to ease his fear, and it works. In spite of the anxious weight in his chest that feels like it’s pressing him into the mattress, Spencer laughs weakly, meeting your eyes, and he watches as a relieved smile breaks across your face, releasing your lower lip from where you’d trapped it worriedly between your teeth. The unmitigated affection that floods into your eyes renders him momentarily breathless as he takes in the moment. You’re still here, still trying to take care of him. Just as kind and steadfast as ever.
“No,” he says eventually, wrapping his arms around you, pulling you down on top of him like a living weighted blanket, letting your warmth chase the bulk of the tension from his body and luxuriating in the way you curl into him, one hand sliding into his hair. “We shouldn’t call off the bet. We still have to take Emily’s money, remember?”
Your sleepy laugh is the last thing he hears before his eyes close and the feel of your body wound around his lulls him to sleep.
five months.
SR: Can I talk to you about something?
DM: you dying or something? that’s a really fuckin ominous text to recieve out of the blue
SR: I’m not dying, why would that be what you assumed? I just have a question.
DM: just a figure of speech but what’s up?
SR: It’s about your bet with Emily. What’re the terms for it?
DM: wym?
SR: What exactly did you two make the bet about? What needs to happen in order for you to win the bet?
DM: does this count as collusion?
SR: Technically yes, but calling it collusion implies a certain degree of illegality.
DM: whatever anyway the terms i made with em were that you’d make some kind of move before your birthday but she reckoned you were gonna need some kind of near death experience to do anything about your crush why?
SR: I’m just making sure I have all the information.
DM: what’s going on pretty boy? you planning something?
SR: Maybe.
DM: not a helpful answer reid is everything good?
SR: Everything’s fine. We’re just figuring some stuff out. Nothing to worry about.
DM: is there something you’re not telling me?
SR: Don’t worry about it.
five months, three weeks and six days.
In the chaos that was the scramble from the briefing room to the jet, you haven’t yet had the chance to speak to Spencer about the outcome of his most recent thesis defence panel. By the time you’ve got a moment to breathe, the jet is underway, coasting across the country towards Montana, the whole team settled in for the six hour flight. You corner him in the tiny kitchen area of the jet as he’s making a mug of mediocre coffee, fingers tapping out an absent minded rhythm on the countertop as the coffee machine whirs, clearly not paying attention to anything outside of his head.
“Hey, boy genius.” He jumps, whirling around, eyes wide with surprise, and you smile fondly. “So?” You demand, and Spencer raises an eyebrow in confusion. You snort, rolling your eyes as you elaborate. “Your defence panel. Did it go okay?”
You’re shifting your weight and fidgeting restlessly with the belt loops on your pants and as he studies you for a moment, it occurs to Spencer that you’re nervous for him over this outcome. The thought brings an almost giddy smile to his face.
“You know this isn’t my first thesis defence panel, right?” He says mildly, deliberately burying the lede, enjoying the way you scowl in irritation too much to answer your question right away, too enamoured with this display of concern on his behalf.
“Don’t be difficult, Doctor Reid. It’s still a big deal.” He just shrugs noncommittally, and you huff, swatting his arm lightly. “So did it go well?” You ask again, eyes narrowing as you try to dissect his microexpressions, trying to discern the answer he seems determined to keep from you for yourself. A few seconds later, he relents.
“I can now add degree number six to my wall.” He confirms. Getting degrees doesn’t hold the same rush of pride for him now, the accomplishment feeling somewhat less exceptional as he acquires more of them, but the way your face lights up with pride for him reminds him how special the things he’s capable of can be. You’ve always made him feel like more than the sum of his parts somehow, like something infinitely more precious than he always assumed he is.
“I fucking knew it. That’s amazing, Spence,” you say, chest warm and full with pride and love, and his almost shy smile in return is enough to make a decision for you in a split second. Your hand dips into your back pocket, drawing something out, and you carefully hide it from view in your palm as Spencer tracks the motion curiously with his eyes.
Your eyes are shining with affection and something that looks like mischief and the way you’re smiling at him is more than enough to divert his attention as you step closer, just barely noticing as you slip something into his hand. You’re dangerously, distractingly close now, and he’s conscious, if somewhat distantly, that neither of you is concealed from the rest of the team, scant meters away in the seating area of the jet. But you’re smiling and close enough for him to feel your breath on his face and suddenly your lips are on his, and even after nearly seven months of being able to touch you like this, it’s enough to make him forget everything else as he melts into the contact, savouring the warmth of your skin and the faint smell of your shampoo.
You pull back a second later, the kiss over almost as soon as it started, but it’s enough to attract attention, and you can hear a belated ‘oh SHIT’ from Emily in the main cabin of the jet. In your peripheral vision, you can see money changing hands, your friends scrambling to react, but you don’t look at them, choosing to enjoy the bemused, affectionate look on Spencer’s face as his brain catches up to the events unfolding around the two of you.
“I was tired of keeping it a secret,” you say fondly, loud enough only for him to hear. “You win.”
Blinking in confusion, he finally tears his gaze away from yours, fingers uncurling to reveal the fifty dollar bill you had pressed into his palm right before you kissed him. The penny drops and he snorts with laughter, shaking his head in half hearted indignation as his other arm loops around you, pulling you in, letting you rest your head on his shoulder, hiding your face from the rest of the team as he kisses your temple, revelling in the way you wind yourself around him in response.
“I was gonna do this in like two days. I wanted you to win,” he murmurs against your hairline, and he can feel your faint laughter.
“Too bad, baby. I’m used to getting my way,” you say, pulling back to steal another quick kiss before peeling yourself out of his arms with a wink, turning to face the onslaught of ‘care to fucking explain that’ and ‘I fucking told you so’ from the rest of your friends, tugging him with you by your joined hands.

HC: S/o With a Good Luck, Bad Luck Quirk
@mrsadfacestudio: SO how about Bakugou, Midoriya, Todoroki, Tamaki and Mirio react on their crush having a good luck/bad luck quirk? Like Y/N says "I feel like today will be great day!" They live close by to Y/N so as they were about to ask to walk with them. As she walk on the side walk, shit goes down. Y/N is passing a building that exploded behind her. She walk far enough so when the building fell, it didn't land on her
Alrightie I hope I did this to the best of my abilities, so I’m sorry if the quirk description isn’t accurate to your ask! Excited to write for Tamaki though since this is my first time, so forgive me if Tamaki’s isn’t the best! ✨🌸
AU: Reader has agood/bad luck quirk, where they can manipulate the luck of themselves or others around them(sometimes without realizing it)
Pairings: Midoriya x reader, Shoto x reader, Tamaki x reader, Mirio x reader
RULES | MASTERLIST| REQUESTS CLOSED
Izuku
Tumblr media
◦oh he is just be so amazed by your quirk-it’s so different from any one he has ever seen or heard of!
◦ he is going to have a full journal dedicated to you and is always lending a hand to help you with training if you ever need it!
◦ he knows you can hold your own, but this boy is going to constantly work himself into a frenzy over worrying about you
◦he’s just so overprotective he really can’t help it!
◦ one day as he was walking to the grocery store to grab some produce for his mother, he heard a large explosion
◦ Izuku turned around, seeing a dark plumage of smoke rising, his heart dropping-you had told him last night you were deciding to take a run in the morning
◦And of course you said you were taking a run right in that area
◦He instantly dropped the groceries, taking off at an intense speed, his hands fumbling with his phone as he desperately tried to call you
◦you weren’t calling him back, making his anxiety 10x worse
◦when he got to the wreckage site, he realized it was a poorly attempted bank robbery, heroes as well as police officers investigating the scene and taking in the suspected “villians” for questioning
◦ he started looking around, trying to see if anybody resembled you, but he didn’t see you, and oh no what if you got caught in some rubble, or maybe somehow you were badly hurt, that’s why you weren’t answering his calls-
◦ “Hey ‘Zuku, I didn’t expect you to be here! I hope no ones hurt!” You greeted from behind, scaring him shitless but also making so relieved
◦his face light up like a Christmas tree- “y/n! Oh, I’m so glad your okay! Are you hurt, do you feel alright-“
◦”I’m fine Izuku, I promise!” You laugh, taking his shaking hands into your own. “My quirk somehow gave me a heads up about what was going to happen, so I decided to get some boba instead!”
◦you smiled brightly, taking a sip from the thick straw- “it also gave me an idea that you’d stop by too,” you held out another drink, his favorite flavor-green tea
◦he thanked you gratefully, taking a sip as he held onto your hand tightly
◦After that scare, there is no way he is letting you out of his sight
Shoto
Tumblr media
◦ Like Izuku, he is going to find your quirk intriguing and definitely interesting
◦It’s not flashy, but it certainly is very powerful in its own way (not that Shoto would care if it’s flashy or not-he loves you for you, not your quirk)
◦*cough cough unlike his father *cough cough
◦ He really can’t understand it that well, because sometimes it gives you a dose of “bad” luck before it rewards you with some prosperity in your life
◦When you and Shoto were still hopelessly pinning for each other, for example, your quirk had decided to give you a slight nudge to get closer to the reserved boy
◦ As you were rushing to the cafeteria during lunch break one day, you had spotted Shoto walking from afar
◦He was close enough to be able to see his features, but far away that you could appreciate his handsome features without looking too creepy
◦You couldnt help but sneak a blissful glance at his face-he was honestly so handsome with his bi colored eyes, pale skin, chiseled jawline-
◦And that’s when your foot slipped on a stray piece of paper and your body landed on the hard linoleum floor with a gut wrenching smack
◦Shoto has obviously heard (it was hecka loud), and being the only other person in the hallway besides you, it was hard to ignore that
◦he instantly rushed over to you, concerned for your wellbeing
◦”Y/n, are you alright?” He asked, crouching down next to you
“I-uh-yeah I’m fine!” Your cheeks were on fire, and you were cursing your quirk inside your head for not helping you avoid your fall-
◦Until Shoto has held out one of his hands, offering it to you
◦”May I?” Shoto’s exterior looked extremely composed, but on the inside he was freaking out-he was just being nice, right? This wasn’t because he had a crush on you or anything-he wasn’t loving the fact that he was the one to help you up, or was trying to memorize how your rosy cheecks looked so pretty on your skin-
◦you placed your smaller hand in his, his fingers gently squeezing yours as he pulled you up
◦your legs were still wobbly, as your knees were the first ones to hit the floor-so you body kinda toppled onto his
◦He was strong and he anticipated you to lean into him, so he easily took the extra weight with ease
◦what wasn’t so easy was keeping his composure-your hands were resting on his chest, those pretty eyes of yours boaring into his, your cheeks ten times redder
◦ He couldnt help but tense up-he wasn’t used to being so close to you, or any girl for that matter, but he was growing quite fond to how wonderful your body felt pressed against his own
◦”I-I I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-“ you began to stutter against his chest
◦Shoto gave a tiny smile, finding it cute that you were just as much of a nervous wreck as he felt- “It’s quite alright… do you think your badly injured? Let’s see if you can walk,”
Tamaki

◦ohhh sweet baby boy is gonna adore you
◦he’s going to think your quirk is just so amazing- lowkey will get down on himself and think his is inadequate to yours sometimes
◦when that happens- AFFIRMATIONS AND CUDDLES 100% WILL FEEL BETTER AFTER
◦ Also will worry about you a lot-he has experienced a lot of things at a young age and knows how harsh the real world can be
◦He doesn’t want to see you get hurt at all, but knowing you have such a helpful quirk does ease his nerves some-also helps him out in a pinch too
◦One time when you both were on patrol, Tamaki had realized just how helpful your quirk could be for yourself and him
◦You two were stationed for the next few hours at the city’s busy downtown area
◦You we’re loving all the lights, the people, and the stores, while Tamaki-
◦Well, Tamaki was not
◦”Do we have to be so close to people?” He asked timidly, tugging his hood farther down his eyes, “I feel they’re staring right at us.”
◦you laughed, playfully walking into his side
◦”Of course they are Tamaki! We are dressed up as heroes after all,” you replied sweetly, waving to a small group of kids gawking at you two
◦”I know-its just, your so natural at all this. I don’t know if I can be as cheerful as you,”
◦You sighed, intertwining your fingers with your shy boyfriend. “Don’t get so worked up over it Tama, you're a wonderful hero. It doesn’t matter if your shy or outgoing, it only matters if your a good hero- which you are.”
◦You took that as an opportunity to kiss his cheek, his once nervous frown turning into a tiny smirk
◦”Th-thank you,” he stuttered out, touching the spot where you kissed him
◦ “Of course!” You grinned, “Oh and also-you may want to take your hood off.”
◦ even though he didn’t want to do what you instructed, he trusted your instincts, pulling the fabric down
◦ “Why is that-“ just as the words slipped out of his mouth, the gang of kids you had waved at had ran past, one of the kids having his hands held out suspiciously
◦ A gust of wind flew in your faces from the kids hands, your hair tossling into your faces
◦ “Aww cool we finally see his face!” The kid with the wind quirk yelled, realizing his hood was already down
◦ The others stared at you too in awe, some waving nervously as they ran past, giggling and screaming as they ran away from their shenanigans
◦”See, they wanna stare at your pretty face too, ya know,” you joked, earning a groan from your timid boyfriend as he tugged his hood on again
◦ Tamaki blushes furiously, his stomach filled with butterflies
◦”The only person I like staring at me is-is you,”
Mirio
Tumblr media
◦He is gonna use your quirk to give you the cutest pet names
◦His personal fav is going to be calling you his “Lucky Charm”
◦will also call you the cheesiest name like “Light of his life,” “sunshine” (not really revolves around your quirk but no the less!)
◦ will also be a constant worry wart over you-you are his love after all, he can’t help but worry!
◦ Omg hed be the sweetest boyfriend though, always checking up on you and making sure your a-okay!
◦One day though he was on patrol by himself when he spotted you in the same area
◦Of course this boy was gonna come and say hi!
◦More like try to scare the shit out of you by running up behind you and giving you a hug
◦You were staring down at your phone, so it would be a perfect time to go and surprise you
◦But to his horror, a bicyclist who had no control over their bike was bounding onto the sidewalk
◦A bunch of pedestrians were freaking out, moving to the side quickly to not get ran over
◦Of course Mirio was already on his way to go and help, but before he even could the bike was already close to hitting you
◦Just as he was going to yell your name and scoop you into his arms, out of harms way, he saw you casually just move to the side
◦You looked like you didn’t even know what was going on-your face didn’t leave your phone screen, it’s expressions calm as ever-all you did was sidestep so you were a mere inches from getting hit by the bike zooming past
◦Mirio took a second to just stare in amazement-how did you even do that?!?
◦Then he relaized he actually had a job to do, so he ran over to help the poor bicyclist before going over to say hi
◦Ohhhhh he asked so many questions after that and just rave about how cool that was
◦”That was amazing! You just kept on walking as if nothing happened! Does that happen any time you might be in danger?”
◦”Well sometimes if I need to learn something, or if it would be safer for me for my quirk not to intervene, I’ll still get hurt or embarrassed-whatever the case may be.” You smiled, “But usually, yeah, it’ll give me a heads up of what might happen to me if I don’t listen to my quirk
“◦”oh that’s so amazing sunshine! You really are a lucky charm, huh?”

Oh, Baby: Chapter Two
A/N: So I was so excited about the reaction and feedback I got on the first chapter, I hope you guys enjoy this one too!
Word Count: 3.5k+
Warnings: None really- brief mentions of smut and of course cursing like a mf
Summary: After a drunken night, Y/N finds herself having to face the biggest decision of her life; is she ready for motherhood? And a better question, is Bucky Barnes, her long time friend and womanizer extraordinaire, ready for fatherhood? They’ll just have to go along for the ride and find out together. A Bucky Barnes x Plus Size Reader Story
Chapter 2/6: And a Cherry On Top
Once you decide that you want this baby- that you’re keeping, things become alot clearer in your mind.
All those lists you made? The bullet pointed steps, numbered processes that you need to accomplish zero in, your brain finally able to sort them, at least a little bit. More then you’d been able to last night, or even this morning.
You’re keeping this baby, it’s cemented in your stubborn brain now and even though that brings a whole new round of terror, it becomes a front and center though. A focal point, so to say.
And when you’re focused- you’ve been told you can be a little ruthless.
“Look, Dr. Cho, I like you so far, I really do,  but I’m going to be blunt here: I’ve read some horror stories about plus size pregnancies, and how miserable it is to have a doctor who is fatphobic- so I just want to check base and make sure that you’re...okay with having me as a patient, and will treat me with the same respect that I plan to treat you with”
She doesn't look shocked and you don't know whether that's just her training or if her face always has that sage quality to it, but you can't really read it.
“I really admire you bringing up your concerns, and I can assure you that they’re very presidented, but that’s not something you’re going to have to worry about with me if you choose to continue on with me as your practitioner for this pregnancy.
I’ve been an OB for the last fifteen years and have worked with lots of very different women: big and small and everything in between and that doesn't matter to me. What matters is that we find a plan that works for you and your little one and keeps you both healthy as we get you to term. Does that sound okay to you?”
You chuckle, delightedly shocked at her words. At how straight forward and sincere she had been. At the support you could feel from her and how relieving that felt to know that your doctor was going to be on your side, for you, with you.
Being overweight, you’d had prejudice thrown at you left and right thought your life, sadly also by medical professionals, and to know she wasn't going to do that to you?
“Yeah” You nod, with a grateful smile “That sounds more than okay”
The appointment goes smoothly for the next hour and a half or so after that. You’re happy you’d Googled like crazy and had come prepared with a small list of key medical facts: any allergies, past surgeries talks of mental health and medications. She gives you a pelvic exam/Pap  and its uncomfortable as they always are, even with her gentle, nimble fingers. Legs in stirrups, biting at the inside of your cheek.
The magic happens when she lays you down and slathers your tummy with a jelly like substance and your heart goes fluttery against your chest as she uses a little wand, probes and moves it gently against the jelly. Looking, searching…
Thump,
Thump,
Thump,
Found.
On the screen of the ultrasound machine that she’d pulled up. Dr. Cho had warned you that it was very early, and that there was a good chance that she wouldn't be able to find much of anything at this point and yet there it was.
A tiny little blur in the blob like painting of your insides that we’re up for display on the US machine. A heart beat, the sound it made would be imprinted in your mind forever.
“There’s your baby, it’s about the size of a cherry right now and I has no really defined shape, but as you can hear, it has a very strong heart beat”
Like in movies, you thought you’d cry, and yeah, maybe your close, but really it lights a fire in you. Sets your heart ablaze and makes you feel lightheaded.
There’s your baby, and it’s real. So real. With a little heart inside you, beating along with your own…
You leave the office with two copies of the ultrasound pictures, one for you to keep, and one to give to Bucky.
Now you only had to tell him.
Later that night, as you and Wanda lounge on your living room couch, you text him, clutching a furry pillow in your lap.
You need to get this done and over with, you have to tell him.
Hey, long time no talk. You think we could get together for lunch sometime this week?
----------
Bucky finds himself sitting at a corner table, it’s half past three and you’re still not there yet. You we’re supposed to be meeting him for a late lunch...ten minutes ago? Fuck, why were you always late?
It drove him crazy, was on that long list of things about you that made his eyes cross with annoyance. On that list was also the fact that he could never guess what you we’re going to do- which yeah, that one still stood, too.
When you’d texted him, asking him to meet you for lunch last Friday, Bucky had gaped at his phone for a few minutes. Hadn't you spent the last couple months avoiding him like the plague? He couldn't help himself, though, and had only given you a tiny bit of shit before agreeing to meet you that next Wednesday at you guys’ favorite spot.
And so here he sat, at HandCraft, waiting for you. Trying not too feel excited, hopeful. That usual feeling that settled in his gut whenever you we’re around(even with just the promise of your presence) had been thrown into effect.
He orders himself a Corona, extra lime, but considers something stronger to quell the weird nerves, and orders you a Long Island Peach Tea.
He knew your obsession with everything peach, so when he saw it he couldn't help but order it for you.
He’s a couple drinks into his beer when you walk in. Bucky could zero in on you in a crowd of hundreds, a skill he’d developed pretty quick after meeting you. His weird 20/20 Y/N radar doesn't fail him and his eyes snap to you as you walk in, and he waves you over. You boop through the crowd, and Bucky knows he has a stupid little smile on his face as he watches.
You’re cute, always. It’s infuriating, and intoxicating and damn, will he ever get over this shit? It’s been eight years for fucks sake.
It’d been rainy and humid in the city this May, and the beige long sleeved, off the shoulder top and high waisted ripped jeans you wear are breezy enough. You always dressed nice, most always put together and he’d always taken the time to appreciate your style, the way you hed yourself and adorned your curvy body.
The big bun that sits atop your head is messy and has started to frizz from the time you’d spent in the sprinkling rain, your loose baby hairs wispy and starting to curl as you sit down in the chair on the opposite him.
“Hi” You greet, shifting in the chair. You’re awkward around him now, and it sucks. It really does.
He thinks about that night in early March, and he cant bring himself to regret it, and he tries to ignore the twinge from how apparently you seem to.
“Hey there- I ordered some drinks so I didn’t die or dehydration while I was waiting for you”
You can’t help but giggle- you and Bucky’s dry humors had always lined up. It was a part of the reason why the two of you had always got on so well, the two of you were always throwing off hand, rude to anyone else, jokes at each other.
“It’s three, you’re going to need to check that alcoholism or yours someday” you rebuff and he shrugs, taking another swig if his beer with a cheeky smile-
“It’s five o’clock somewhere...and it’s actually 3:30, which makes you- he checks his watch playfully, asshole, fifteen minutes late”
“I had a meeting with my boss. Give me a fucking break” You snipe back, and yeah maybe you sound a little sharp.
Shit. No, that’s not how you wanted the atmosphere of this conversation to go. But this week had been...a lot.
You’d told your little sister MJ about the big B news and she had advised you to talk to your boss about bumping up your healthcare, about maternity leave and all that other jazz as early as possible- and that had lead to you having to sit for over an hour with the one-eyed owner of the radio station.
Nick Fury was cool enough, really he is, but still. Explaining an unexpected pregnancy to him was...really awkward. Especially when he had asked about the father and you had to pretty much shrug and say “Bitch, I don’t know. I guess I’ll find out later today”
But you definitely didn’t call your boss a bitch.
“A meeting? Is everything okay?” Bucky actually sounds concerned and you purse your lips and spin the straw in the dark drink you hadn’t touched yet because you were preeeeetty sure it had liquor in it and that was a no go for you now.
“Um, yeah...it is now. I just had some serious stuff to talk to him about”
“Serious? That doesn’t sound great” Bucky didn’t mean to pry, but he knows how much you loved your job. How hard you’d worked for it.
He’s always rooted for you, knowing that like many things, the radio waves were dominated by male hosts. He listened to your podcasts, and your new show, religiously.
Every Wednesday night at 7- he diligently listens to your melodic voice, actually for the last couple months it’s the only way he could feel close to you.
Sucker. He knows.
“Um, yeah. Kinda serious? More just things I needed to get sorted out with Fury. A little planning for my future, ya know?” Our future, the life inside me, you don’t say. Yet.
“Okay, well as long as everything’s still going smoothly there, that’s good, right?”
“Yeah, right. Everything’s going smoothly…” fuck.
“Just say it and get it over with. Like pulling off a band-aid” Wanda had pep talked you about this- but god, how could anybody know it was going to be this hard.
Your heartbeat had gone hummingbird and your stomach was in knots as the minutes ticked on. You order an ice water and watermelon salad and Bucky frowns.
Because that’s not your usual...you always get the Nacho Tots. He offers them as an appetizer for the two of you to share and you shake your head with a forced smile, complaining of a stomach ache.
You don’t touch the peach tea, he points that it too and you shake your head telling him you weren’t in the mood to drink which, what? You were always down to day drink. Always.
Half way through his chimichurri steak, Bucky can’t take the weird tension anymore. You’re trying...to hard. And yet he can clearly see that you’re more uncomfortable, more uneasy then he’s ever seen you.
He can only bite his tongue for so long. Months of tension were bound to come to a head eventually.
He couldn’t bare talking about the weather and other trivial bullshit subjects anymore.
“Y/N...if you didn’t want to hang out, why did you make plans with me?” Bucky questions, bluntly. Takes you off guard a bit.
“What?” Is your bright reply and he just frowns and leans back in his chair. His body language is all wrong- and it makes you even more anxious then you already were.
“I just- fuck. Fuck, it’s been so weird between us since March and I thought having lunch today was supposed to be us remedying said weirdness but it just feels worse” Bucky’s tone is slightly frustrated and dejected
You can feel your face drop. None of this was going how you’d planned- and you’d imagined this going 1,000 different ways in the last few days.
“I just want everything to go back to the way it was” Bucky speaks, interrupting your silence and it feels like there’s fucking needles in your stomach.
“It can’t go back” You utter, fidget in place, staring at the busy street outside the window for a moment. Not able to meet his eyes yet.
“Really? Cause I kinda think that’s bullshit. So we slept together? It was consensual and we’re adults, I don’t get why it has to be a friendship ending thing-“ Bucky’s feelings are hurt, and it’s apparent in his tone. Confused, slightly pleading.
Band-aid, Wanda’s words ring in your head as you muster up your courage and look back at Bucky.
Jesus, you could drown in his foggy eyes. Could be melted down to nothing by the molten silver of his gaze.
“I have something to tell you, it’s why I asked you to lunch today. I wanted to talk to you face to face because...this is pretty fucking huge and I- I” you stutter and stumble over your words and Bucky knows it’s something major because words are usually your weapon. You vernacular your sword and armor.
He doesn’t know why he knows, or why it clicked together in his head- call it some kind of weird intuition. Maybe from the fact that he grew up with all sisters and that he remembers his older sister Charlie and her face when she’d told his parents, at the age of sixteen, that she was-
And Oh, ohhhh, you hadn’t drank. Or touched your food-
“You’re pregnant” it doesn’t feel real to him as he says it, as his lips gram the words he can’t really feel himself speak them.
You gasp softly- your big eyes locked with his for a moment where everything goes still around the two of you, and then you nod.
It’s like he had peered straight into your soul anyway. Like he already knew.
“Yeah, I am. Nine weeks- well almost ten now, I guess”
“Oh...oh fuck” Bucky breathes out, a long exhale because he’d been holding his breath and oh shit- he hasn’t had a panic attack in years but this sure feels like what the start one.
“Bucky?”
“It’s mine?” He knows it’s an asshole question, but he grits it out anyway because he has to be sure of what he already knows.
“Yeah, it is. I haven’t been with anyone since we were together” It’s the truth, and he knows because you have a big fat unfiltered mouth that you hadn’t been with anyone for months before him.
“Five months?” You remember him breathing into your neck “Fuck, doll, how? No way”
“Mmhmm” you’d hummed as he’d kissed down your chest “I’m not a whore like you- I can go a few months without sex with out my genitals shriveling up and my brain short circuiting”
He’d laughed around a mouthful of breast.
And now you were pregnant. With his baby.
He gapes like a fucking fish as he tries to digest it all.
“I’m going to keep it, Bucky. And that doesn’t mean I expect you, or am going to force you to be in they’re life but I just...I don’t know I thought i should tell you? And not because I felt obligated to or anything...I mean kind of, but because you’re a good person and I wanted you to know” You’re rambling, yeah, but you’re saying your peace.
“You’re ten weeks?” Bucky questions, breaking you out of your ramblings and you nod, a little confused.
“Yeah, it’s the size of a Cherry right now...trippy, right?”
Bucky barks out a laugh, still in that headspace where he though he might wake up at any given moment.
“A cherry. Oh my god. Holy fuck- you’re pregnant” Bucky exasperates and then puts his hands on his face, trying to calm down. Trying to get a grip on himself.
He knows you. Knows that you’re not lying about it being his, why would you? And there’s a baby inside you, right this moment. One that he’d put there- that the two of you had created together.
“Yup. Super fucking pregnant- a doctor confirmed it and everything” You try to lighten the mood a little, just like you always do.
“Really?”
“Yeah...here, look” you dog through your handbag for a moment and then pull out a laminated picture and reach across the table to hand it to him.
When Bucky takes his first look at it, his heart squeezes and his breath gets stuck in his throat again.
It’s the ultrasound picture. Black and white, unidentifiable shapes- but his eyes zero in on the little blob in the darkness. The baby.
His baby.
His heart clenches again.
“There it is” you point out what he’s looking out with a manicured finger “that’s the baby. I know it all looks like an obscure Picasso painting or something but that’s it” you kind of hate calling your baby an it, but you don’t know what else to call...them, yet.
“A cherry” Bucky whispers, asks.
“Yeah, like-“ you make that annoying, internet famous, 6 shape, with your hand and put it up to your eye to look through it “this big”
Bucky chuckles. You’re so dumb. And so special, for being able to make such a tense situation feel...lighter.
“I’m going to want to be in this baby’s life, you know that, right?” Yeah, he doesn’t know how he feels about all of this yet. He still thinks this might be some kind of fever dream- that maybe he died from that flu he had last week, but he’d been raised right by his mom and pop.
Was he a bit slutty? Yeah, he guesses he’d own that(argue that he only acted on how he was pursued)
Could he be a little bit of an arrogant prick? You, and plenty of other people had told him that plenty in his life and yeah, he’d own that one too.
But he’d never, could never, leave you alone to raise this child. Not with how he felt about you- and shit, even if he wasn’t harboring these feelings could he ever just leave a woman who he’d gotten pregnant completely alone.
“Don’t make promises in the heat of the moment, I’m not expecting-“
“Me to want to be a father to my child” he doesn’t snap, per say, but he knows you can hear how offended he is. It makes you bite the inside of your lip.
“I don’t know. I just don’t...want you to feel like you have to say things you don’t mean because I’m sitting in front of you right now. Like? You might feel different later, you know?”
Bucky instantly feels bad for snapping at you. You’d been sitting on this, thinking you might have to do this alone…
Bucky looks back at the ultrasound picture and his stomach rolls at the idea of you doing this alone. Of him missing this first milestone of your pregnancy. Of his child’s life.
His child.
He’d woken up this morning, single, uncomplicated and now...he knew there was a baby that was half him inside of you.
He should have had that stronger drink.
“I’m going to be there for this baby, and for you. I don’t know what that looks like yet and I can’t promise I’ll be great at it, but I’m going to be here” his voice gets soft and passionate and fuck, the way he’s looking at you, vowing this to you…
It’s almost more than you can handle.
“Okay...I’m game” you say, and he snorts and nods.
He doesn’t know what’s going to happen, if he’ll be a good dad or not. There’s so many unknowns swirling around his head, clogging his brain-
But he knows he’s not going anywhere.
“We’re going to have a baby” He says it, and this time it feels a little more real as it comes out of his mouth. “Holy fuck I’m going to be a dad”
“Um, congratulations” The waiter chooses that time to come back to the table, and the kid who can’t be more then eighteen looks a little awkward at intruding “Do you want a celebratory piece of cake?”
“You know what? Yeah we do- and please, make sure there’s a cherry on top”
He grins too big when he asks for a cherry and you know he’s needs it as a visual comparison to the size of the baby inside you. Bucky is so obnoxious.
He’s also beautiful- in the restaurants low light. All teeth and bright blue eyes- his brows still pulled together and his expression a little overwhelmed, but not mad. Not disgusted or cold like you’d feared.
You can almost here both Wanda and MJ’s “told you so’s” now.
You can’t help but share in his contagious smile- the nerves that had players you aren’t completely gone, not by a long shot.
But...you and Bucky Barnes were going to have a baby.
You could only hope that the two of you didn’t fuck it up too bad.

The taglist for this story is still OPEN. If you would like to be tagged, please be aware that I will be expecting feedback, and will not take the time to tag you again if you don’t give any- I will update with the next chapter once this chapter reaches 100 notes.
Okayyy, so here’s part two. It might be a little cheesy, but I really want this story to be more fluff then angst, okay?! Which let me say is not easy for me because lately I’ve been one angsty bitch.
So I decided that I wanted to play with more MCU characters then I normally do, do something different- and that’s how I came up with the idea that the readers little sister is MJ(Michelle Jones) from Spider-Man. I love Zendaya- and since I’m usually writing a mixed race reader- she fits as a sibling.
Just for heads up, a little spoiler for the next chapters, I will also be having the Van Dynes be in her family tree. Hope is her cousin.
I’m really just trying to have fun writing for Marvel again. Hope you guys are having fun reading this.

Someone kept stealing money from HS gym lockers during gym class.
TL;DR at bottom.
Senior year I went to a small high school, very low budget, country/white trash but not inner city. Played football my entire HS career, we had gym class all 4 years, every day, pretty fun. I'm sure your gym was the same but basically ours was a basketball court with bleachers on each side and Male/Female lockers on opposite sides of the court as well. There was one entrance for each locker room on the outside of the school(locked usually), and 2 per locker room entrances visible from the gym court/inside.
We come from a pretty honest area and not very affluent so when we get changed from school clothes to gym clothes, we usually just throw our school stuff in a locker and close it(these lockers require you to bring your own lock) but of course no one but a few kids bring locks. We also have our own locker room for the football players that I do put a lock on(football gear is fucking expensive).
So one day we go out to play some field game like dodgeball, spend 45 mins in the field, head back in and get changed for the rest of the school day. Suddenly someone flips out and yells "WTF! Someone stole my 10$ outta my wallet for lunch!". We all chalk it up to just some scumbag who came in while we were outside, opened his unlocked locker and took it. Sucks but hey, lock your shit i guess is the lesson.
This is where is gets interesting. Every day or two, almost every gym period, people start realizing more and more of them were being robbed, some kids losing lunch money, pocket change, just some extra cash they had, etc.. started to get so bad and so many theft reports, that the teachers kept the locker rooms locked while we weren't using them, but again low budget, sometimes the doors dont get locked due to negligence.
I started to take my football locker lock and use it on my gym locker during the day and then put it back on my football locker for after school practices(football locker rooms were always locked during the day). One day I forget to bring my gym lock and put it on my football lock. I got 20$ in my wallet for gas from my mom that morning, ran late, planned to fill up after practice. Well I come back from practice to find my shit in my locker was all tossed and turned, and i'm missing my 20$. At this point its almost a joke in the school that everyones getting money stolen without a lock on their locker, if someone notices they got stolen from everyone just laughs and shrugs it off. I get PISSED. "No one steals from me, fuck this!" especially from the football locker room. Next day I go to the school officer, report the theft, nothing. Says "sorry we can't look at the cameras, there's none facing any locker entrances". K cool.
Couple days later I do the same stupid mistake because I never learn apparently. Get another 20$ and some spare change stolen from my pockets in the locker. Immediately notice it, sprint to the school officer in my socks and say "someone JUST stole from the locker room, pull cameras and see if anyone went towards that area in the past 45 minutes! (Hallways are usually empty during class time, anyone walking towards the gym would stick out like a sore thumb). Same run around, just report and take it. Fed up I go vigilante.
This may have been illegal but fuck this guy stealing everyones stuff. I set up a camera in the locker (camera lens pointing through a hole), waited until everyone left the room, hit record, locked the locker and went to gym. Sure enough someone had their money stolen and my face lit up with joy. I caught this mother fucker and he was gonna get the worst serving of justice.
Look on the camera with some friends and my jaw fucking drops. There on video is the VICE PRINCIPAL opening someones locker, grabbing their jeans and shaking them out. Coins falling, he picks them all up, takes money out of their wallet, and throws all the stuff back in the locker hastily. He repeats this on another 3 lockers until he leaves, all completely visible (even does a close up, face flashing across the locker I had the camera in).
Turn this video into one of my old freshman football coaches that i trusted really well and told him I wanna be anonymous. This is now way over my capabilities, I thought it was just some kid, id give the tape to the officer and boom, hed get caught and punished. No, it had to be the 2nd highest guy in power at the school, i mean fuck the officer could of been in on it, had to give it to someone I trusted.
Coach forwarded it to the school board, superintendent, etc... next day that vice principal doesn't show up. Then he stops showing up for 2 weeks, kids start to notice. An announcement goes out that he was removed from his position and no longer was staff member at the school. No reports of thefts in the past 2 weeks. Students start putting the logic together. Police report comes out that he has been arrested for theft, school goes bananas. Kids start making "Free Mr. Vice principal" shirts as a joke. Word also gets out that I was the one that got him caught (2 friends watched the video with me I guess couldnt keep their mouths shut). Becomes a huge joke in the school and I'm looked at as a hero. School officer even calls me in one day to say "I'm glad you did that, I can't legally tell someone to do that, but we were hoping someone would eventually, you won't be punished at all for the filming, thank you."
Later find out that he had a huge pain killer problem and couldnt afford the dealers costs on his 150k/year salary. He resorted to stealing money from high schoolers, some not being able to eat lunch that day, fill up their cars with gas, etc... Kicker is that he still sent me restitution checks for a couple dozen cents for a few years, required by the courts until he pays my 40$ off he stole. Just a great reminder of his fuck up, every month he gets 46 cents taken out of his account, has to sign the check and send it, knowing I'm the guy who got him caught and fired. Fuck that guy, don't steal from kids.
TL;DR - Thefts in high school locker rooms for a few weeks, finally rob me, get fed up, illegally record the room, find out its the vice principal with a drug problem. He gets fired and arrested. Don't steal from me.

TW: Some violence, also gets a liiiiittle dirty(but the super nsfw parts have been cut out for tumblr sake 😂😂)
Mark.....are we ever going to stop driving?"
"Well. You said isolated. His place is as isolated as i could think of"
Alison studied Mark as he drove, glancing behind them where Amy was driving Alison's car every so often
"And youre sure Dark isnt going to be too...put out?"
Mark chuckled 'That asshole is always put out. Part of his charm you could say"
As he drove he thought of the conversation hed had with the ego the week before
******
"Why here Mark? Why does she need to stay here? I dont even know her"
Mark looked at Darkiplier as his aura slightly crackled around him
"I told you. Her ex has been stalking her, she needs somewhere to stay while her dad is off the ranch. She doesnt need to be alone on that huge place. Amy and i are going out of town. Now get over it. Shes staying"
"So get the police to babysit her. Why should *I* have to" the ego scowled, clearly not giving a shit what would happen to this girl
"Look Dark im not having anything happen to her because you want to be a pretentious ass. Its not like you use all of the five rooms here."
"You and Amy talk as if shes your child. Shes a grown woman"
"Yes. And her ex is an even bigger grown man that is unhinged and wants to do very bad things to her. Shes staying here."
Darkiier glared as his creator, his aura lashing tendrils out every so often as his temper rose. But he knew there was no arguing.
"Fine. But she better stay out of my way"
*********
Mark pulled to a stop in front of the big house in the woods. Alison gaped at the sight of the beautifully crafted home and the big lake behind it
"Holy. Shit.'
Mark laughed out loud "yeah. Good taste huh?"
Alison climbed out of the car and stretched her arms out, her shirt falling off her shoulder a bit, revealing a faded scar. She grabbed what she had in Mark's car and joined him and Amy to walked up the front steps and inside
"Hello?"
"Well come in, dont just stand there" Dark said.
He watched Mark and Amy come in as he walked down the stairs and stopped as Alison stepped through the door
He took her in. Reddish brown hair, green eyes, short, not skinny but not what hed call fat. She looked around nervously and then locked eyes with her host for the next couple of weeks.
"Um...hi. Im Alison Calaway" she reached out a hand to shake his as he reached the bottom of the steps. "Its nice to meet you Dark...thank you for letting me be here"
Dark took her hand and felt almost a buzz, aside from his own aura, go through him
"Yes. Mark has told me about you. Glad i could...assist"
Amy looked at her watch "oh. We gotta go if we are going to get to bed and get on the road in the morning.... Alison are you sure youre ok?" She wasnt too sure about leaving her here with HIM all that time
"Amy Ill be fine. Yall go"
She hugged and kissed both Mark and Amy on the cheeks and watched as they climbed in Marks car and drove away.
"So...are you hungry?" Alison jumped as Dark spoke closer to her ear than she thought hed be
"Oh. Um. No. Actually. Im good. I could go for some hot tea though.
"Ah. Perfect. Come with me to the kitchen"
The ego led the way as she tried to figure out this vibe she was getting. Like he reallllly didnt want her there, but was also curious about her.... He was pretty easy on the eyes though so she figured she'd survive
She sat down at the bar as he boiled the water
"So. When you said Mark talked about me....how much did he tell you?" Alison inquired, not sure what to say
"He told me of the ex-boyfriend and why you needed somewhere to stay..... May i ask how it got to that point? If thats not too forward?"
He turned to see her absentmindedly running her fingers over a scar along her collar bone
"Well.. I was with him two years. He didnt like me having friends other than him. Didnt like when i went on the road with my Dad's company and wrestled house shows.."
Darkiplier looked at her "wait...wrestling ?"
Alison ducked her head and laughed
"heh...yeah.... Long story. Dad is practically royalty in the business and i did it for a while. ..but Shane didnt like that. Mostly because i hung out with the guys and trained with them.... So for the sake of the relationship i stayed home. Then he got to where he hated me talking to Mark, Jack...Anyone really. Long story short he attacked me a few times....the last time he almost killed me..... Chase and Jackie saved my life. They had been on the way over to get me and heard me scream. Broke in..... I had to get a lot of stitches that night. And he didnt like being told no. He took off while they were helping me. Cops have been looking for him, hes been sending me letters, showing up at places where im at. But he always takes off when i see him..... Hes gotten bolder and my parents and Mark and everyone didnt want me left alone. So here i am"
Dark studied her for a moment. He could read that she had strength. But she was broken. He couldn't understand why but he felt a tug of protectiveness in his chest at the thought of that asshole trying to track her here... At least those idiotic Septic Egos had done something right. Though letting him get away was pathetic
"Well. Dont worry. If he tries to darken my doorstep, he will surely get more than he bargined for i can assure you"
He brought two mugs over and poured the water over the tea bags. They sat and talked for hours like theyd known each other forever
****************
The next night Alison laid in her bed. It was about 12 am. Shed walked by the lake all morning, theyd gone into town and grabbed lunch and when they came home she had talked with Dark about different interests most of the night. She felt oddly at home here. Suddenly her phone rings
"Now who the hell would be calling me?.."
She hit the answer button, not recognizing the number
"Hello?"
"Aliiisoon.... Now why would you go walking around with some goth reject looking...thing where everyone could see?"
She sat bolt upright in bed, all blood draining from her face... Shane
"What the hell....how did you...?"
"Now now alleycat dont worry about how. You know you're mine. Ill always find you. Now answer me"
"Theres nothing to fucking answer Shane. Leave me alone." She scrambled out of bed and down the stairs, checking the locks.
"Ohhh alison. You cant actually think im going to leave you alone. I marked you. Youre mine... Nice house youre in though. Lots of property
She stood in the glow of the moon through the front window, shaking "shane. What do you want. Why are you doing this?"
"Because. I want whats mine"
"Im not yours! I never will be, leave me al-"
The phone was snatched from her hand. Darks aura crackling and whipping around them both, scaring her and amazing her at the same time.
"Look. Either turn yourself in or go die. Your choice..... In fact i will gladly help with one of those options. But you will leave her be Shane"
And with that he threw the phone down and crushed it
She turned and stared at him, in awe of the power oozing from him, shaking from adrenaline.
The aura calmed some as he stepped toward her and ran a finger over her collarbone and shoulders. Tracing the scars that were exposed by the sleeveless sleep shirt she wore. He looked in her eyes brimming with tears and had the sudden urge to hug her and an even stronger NEED to protect her...so he pulled her in. She buried her face in his chest and cried. Feeling helpless and grateful at the same time. The tendrils ran over her back as he held the back of her head with one hand and wrapped the other arm around her.
Finally she stepped back. Wiping her face. "Dark....im sorry. You must think im a completely useless creature... Im just so tired of being his prey"
He studied her face for a moment, then spoke, his voice low, commanding attention as he did
"Youre not his prey anymore. And while i think many of those around me are useless....youre different. And damned if i know why.."
Alison looked at him, curious, but not pushing the matter.
"I dont think ill sleep much." She was mad and scared and exhausted. But she knew what her dreams would hold
Dark put his hand on her shoulder "Well. Im just doing some paper work in my office, i could....put a pillow and blankets on the couch in there for you. You could rest while i work...perhaps that way youd feel more at ease"
Alison smiled at him, grateful for his kindness. "Ok. Yeah, maybe....if i wont be bothering you of course"
He chuckled softly "not at all dear. Come"
****
Alison watched him work thru half shut eyes. This was the big bad guy everyone spoke of...to her he didnt seem so bad. Intense for sure but....there was just something about him. The quiet way he held himself, he could walk in any room and demand attention without even trying.
"You know. Its not polite to stare at people while they work ali"
She smiled sleepily "sorry. Just thinking"
The ego cocked an eyebrow. "About?"
"Well.." She sat up from her makeshift bed hed made, one strap falling off her shoulder, exposing more of her skin, Dark suddenly felt tense, but tried to ignore it
"I mean. You're supposed to be.. Horrible. A bad guy....and yet.... I feel as if we are old friends having only known you a few days ... I trust you. Though everyone has said not to.... Im supposed to be scared of you and thats just not the case" she said
He smiled gently "Well. When you're on my good side, thats what you get. But most never see that side, only a lucky few
'And why am i one of the lucky ones? " Alison asked
Dark motioned for her to come to him 'Come here....." She got up and stepped across the room, sitting on the corner of his desk as he stood up.
"If im being honest i have no idea why i feel the way i do around you. You seem to make everything....quiet. Calm. I can think clearly for some reason.... I cant quite figure you out Alison"
He was standing directly in front of her now.
She smiled up at him "heh. Good luck with that"
The blackness grew slightly and played around the edge of her face as he stared directly into her eyes "oh don't worry princess. Ill figure you out. I always get what i want"
Alison threw her head back and laughed "hmm. With me you wont.....but like i said. Have fun with that" she went to stand and he blocked her, moving very close to her. "I rather like the effect you have...stay a moment longer?"
He rested his hand on her knee and closed his eyes. Reveling in the slience that filled him. She didnt know what to say...but staring at him with his head leaned back, hair in his face she couldn't help but feel the calm as well. She reached up and brushed the har from his eyes, fingers trailing his cheek. His hand caught hers and held it to his face as he leaned into it.
Alisons heart sped up. Dark could hear it as her cheeks flushed an adorable red. He looked at her intently suddenly not in control of his actions he put his hand to her face and pulled her to him, softly bringing their lips together
She was suprised by his actions. But more suprised at the fact that she trusted him. She leaned into the kiss, grabbed the front of his jacket .
They both were startled by the crash in the front hall. Alison jumped off the desk and took off out the door before he could stop her. Dark shook his head
"That stupid girl...."
But then he heard her yelp.... His aura crackled to life as he rushed out to the front door which was wide open. The window next to it was smashed. Alison was nowhere to be seen
"Ali?? Where the hell are you?" He shouted angrily.
He heard scuffling outside. Curses came flying out of alisons mouth. The Egos eyes darkened as he ran outside and saw her on the ground under her attacker, fighting like a wildcat. He stomped down the steps and across the grass quickly, grabbing him by the back of the neck and neatly tossing him into the side of her car.
He helped Alison up and studied her quickly. Busted lip, scratches on her arms... His anger boiled over and the dark aura he carried around seemed to grow even blacker. In short. He was pissed.
"You stupid asshole. You think you can have her?" The voice came from behind him. Dark turned and stared down Shane.
"You cant. Shes mine and she will always be mine. I dont care what you or any of your other ego friends have to say. Spandex boy and Brody couldn't stop me...what makes you think...
He trailed off as he became accutely aware of the silence that enveloped him. The anger rolling off the Ego in the form of his aura suddenly making him regret coming here
Dark spun on him, grabbing his neck and shoving him against the car. His voice came out as more of a growl
"You listen to me you insignificant toad. I dont know who the HELL you think you are, or what you *think* youre going to accomplish. But taking "ownership" of Alison Calaway isnt it. People say im a bad person. Theyve never seen me be protective of someone, so trust me when i tell you the truth can be SO much worse than youve heard. I will give you a choice. You may turn around and walk out of here, never contacting or even THINKING of that woman again. Or...
He tightened his grip on Shanes throat cutting off his air as the mans bladder let go
"Or my dear boy. I can show you what demonic really means.... Its your choice"
Shane struggled to speak 'o-okay' he whispered
"What's that? I cant hear you" Dark said. Enjoying the terror in the mans eyes
"Okay! Ill go. Ill go. Just please...dont kill me"
Dark dropped him to the ground, the black aura rolling around him, trying to contain himself. Shane scrambled to get to his car
"Ah ah" Dark said. The choice was to WALK away"
He held the keys hes taken from Shanes pocket up, jingling them and smiled evily.
"Th-thats at least ten miles through the woods! Are you insane??"
Darks eyes narrowed "guess you better get started....and hope the wolves arent especially hungry tonight.. Leave"
His aura shot out, eyes flaring. Shane pissed himself again and took off running into the night
Dark's shoulders heaved up and down as he tried to control his breathing, his body shaking with the anger. Trying to keep himself from chasing the man down and ripping his head from his body
Alison approached from behind and touched his shoulder.
"Alison...im sorry you had to see me like that. I can normally control myself...."
She tugged him to turn around and he looked at her. Blood dried on the corner of her mouth, eyes shining with tears. She placed her hand on the side of his face and he noticed her knuckles were busted from fighting back. He leaned into her touch. Her closeness calming the storm raging in his mind...how had it come to this....when had she become his safe place?
Alison tried to control her emotions...she should be terrified right now, especially after that display. But all she wanted was to hold this man. And she didnt understand. She slid one hand behind his neck and pulled his face to hers. Kissing him was less of a want and more of a gnawing need right now. He was suprised but wrapped his arms around her and kissed her back. Savoring the taste of her mouth
Alison pulled back slightly, out of breath and Dark leaned his forehead to hers, closed his eyes and smiled. Neither spoke. After a moment she pulled away completely and tugged on his hand
"Cmon. Let's go inside"
They walked into the house. Not knowing what to say to each other.
A week passed. Neither spoke about that night. Not avoiding each other but avoiding the subject. Which annoyed Darkiplier greatly. When had he become..this? Not confronting something? He longed to reach out and brush the hair from her face, touch her some way. But he got the feeling she didnt want to be touched right now.
'Well why would she you fool. After everything that jackass did, did you think shed just fall in your arms and stay there?' He said aloud to himself as he toiled in his office.
His phone buzzed with a text. He checked it to see a message from Alison. After breaking her phone hed taken her to get a new one with a new number that very few people now had.
A: "Hey... You wanna go get some drinks tonight? Im getting tired of being couped up but i dont exactly want to venture out on my own. I know itd be a bit of a drive but.."
He pondered for a moment. He could easily say no. That there was liquor here...but he knew it wasnt about the drinks for Alison. He could tell she was itching to get out. To move somewhere other than the house or the lake. She was becoming a bit like a caged tiger.
D: "Sure. Why not" ..... He had a feeling he might regret this.
****************
Darkiplier stood at the bottom of the stairs, ready to leave. He sighed. What was taking her?
'Ali. Are you coming or-"
The words are lost in his throat as she starts down the steps. Auburn hair gleaming, wearing a black and red dress that fit in all the right places and short heels.
She caught his eyes as she stepoed onto the floor and laughed "yeah. Lets go" Alison suddenly felt as if she were a piece of steak in the lions den and she didnt know why.
Dark just opened the front door for her without a word and motioned for her to go first. Trying to regain composure.
At the bar, they drank, Alison danced alone. She moved like a woman possessed. Dark just watched her intently, a feeling in his chest he couldn't quite describe. It had been a couple of hours when a man came up behind her, trying to dance too close and touch too much. Dark tensed as he saw her spin around and shove him away, then he walked over, catching the end of the trashy things he was saying to her
"Alison... Lets go"
Darkiplier didnt need to shout. Or ask her twice. She gratefully nodded her head, realxing now that she didnt feel cornered.
The whole way home she was quiet. Dozing, feeling the effects of the whiskey shed been downing all night.
When they arrived at the house she got out and walked in. She was barely through the door when Dark called to her. He stepped through the door behind her as she turned
He stared for a moment, then reached his hand out to touch her face...she flinched. She didnt mean to...it was just the thought if anyone touching her....of making her feel anything was anxiety inducing...but at the same time she wanted Dark's touch
His hand stopped mid air and his eyes darkened... He was... Sad? But angry at the same time
"I see..." He murmered. Then walked past her to his office and shut the door.
Alison stood there. Tears began to run down her face. "What the hell is happening to me" she whispered. She looked toward the office door. Wanting so badly to chase him. But tired of chasing things at the same time.
******
Darkiplier tried to focus on the computer in front of him. Itd been half an hour and hed gotten nothig done. "What the hell is wrong with you? Youre bitching and moaning after this *girl* you barely know. And for what? The feeling she gives you...pathetic" he spoke to himself condescendingly.
"You know. Speaking to yourself is the first sign of madness"
Alisons voice from the doorway made him jump. Not expecting her to be there.
"Can i come in?"
He studied her for a moment. "Yes. Of course, sit"
She walked into the room. Still in her dress but barefoot now. His breath hitched in his throat as she leaned back into the sofa and curled her legs under her,she sat the drink in her hand on the side table. He laughed. Another whiskey?
"Listen. Dark. Thank you for coming over when you did....that guy was..handsy"
He scoffed "Well. Did you think i was going to let him manhandle you? Though im sure you couldve handled it fine if need be. But i have this godforsaken need to protect you. And i still havent figured it out.."
"Dont protect me.... People that protect me get hurt...." She trailed off, thinking of Henrik stitching the cut in Chase's side after he fought with Shane that night. "Im not worth good people getting hurt"
Dark stood up and walked over to stand in front of her, then crouched so he was eye level. "Look. I told you. I think a lot of people are useless, but you arent one of them. You have this passion in you when you speak about people and things you care for. You want so badly to fight everything and feel nothing....and thats not possible. Trust me. Before you waltzed into this house i wouldnt have believed it. I was an asshole to anyone that looked at me sideways. I didnt need anything or anyone.... And then here are. Making me feel things. No my dear. Worthless is not something that should be used to describe you"
He placed a hand on her leg as he spoke, electricity running between them. She jumped but didnt flinch away this time. She stared into his eyes, taking in what hed said.
He cleared his throat and stood up "i believe this is where i tell you, im sorry if i scared you that night he came here. Im sorry if kissing you was out of line.." He grabbed her hand and pulled her to stand up "but i just couldnt help it..."
She smiled and then stared at the floor as she spoke 'you werent out of line.....unexpected maybe. But i kissed you the second time. So should i apologize for that?'
Darkiplier chuckled and put a finger under her chin, lifting her gaze to his "No my dear. Never apologize for letting me taste you... Though you may need to apologize for depriving me "
With that he captured her mouth with his. Slowly as first, then more forcefully. Her hands tangled in his hair, him holding her against him. She pulled back to breathe and his lips went to her neck. 'Dark..." She said breathlessly
"Mmmm" the sound rumbled in his chest as he caressed her back and softly kissed her skin, savoring each taste. The he looked at her and smiled wickedly "you know. Coming down in that dress... Then dancing the way you did. That wasnt very nice of you. Looking like that....moving like that in public. I very nearly pinned you to the wall then and there" his eyes danced as he spoke. Running his hands down her hips and gripping her right at the lower back to pull her closer
She laughed and smiled back at him "well. Maybe i like to torture you. Make you beg for it"
He chuckled "hmm. Me? Beg? Not on your life princess, you couldnt make me actually beg"
She stepped away from him and put one hand on his chest and grinned "oh. Is that a *challenge* i hear? Go sit in your chair over there"
He cocked an eyebrow in her direction but complied, pulling the chair to the front of the desk and sitting. This should be interesting
She turned of the lights with the switch by the door. Then walked over to his computer which was behind him on the desk. She went to a music site and put a song on. One that Dark recognized from the club. One hed watched her move to, his heartbeat quicked as he remembered the sight.
She strolled around back to where shed sat her glass and downed it. Then walked to just out of his easy reach and began to move to the music. Body swaying to the beat. Eyes closed. A little drunk but in control and knowing what she was doing. The moonlight played along her body.
Darkiplier reached to touch her and she swatted his hand away.
"Oh no. Put your hands away....you cant touch unless you ask...beg for it." She said mischeviously. "Your hands cannot touch me. But i...oh i cant touch you"
She stepped closer, bending down, holding his knees as she did and bringing her body up in a way so that her face, then chest were right in front of his face. She turned and bent between his knees before coming back up slowly, grinding against him, his hands clenching. His aura crackling around them with his need. But he would not break. He couldnt. His pride wouldnt let him.
But then. Alison straddled him. Legs on either side and sat in his lap. Still moving her body to the beat of the music, leaning back as she moved her hips. This was dangerous territory. She wanted him to touch her. But she also wanted to hear him ask. Dark, to his benefit was trying to keep his composure, but the hardness beneath her was giving him away.
The music stopped and she sat. Still straddling him and put her arms over his shoulders. She grinned at him
"You gonna break?"
Dark laughed. This little minx. If she thought for one second that he was going to-
All thought flew from his brain as he felt her lips on his neck. Her hand tangled in the back of his hair. She ran her tongue along it and then along his lips. Kissing him lightly 'cmon baby. You know you want it. All you have to do is say it.... Let go of the control for once"
He reached to hold her and she caught each of his wrists and held them down "ah ah darky. Not until you ask nicely" she purred in his ear and she ground against him again. Torturing herself as much as she was him
'Alison.." It came out as a half moan, half warning.
She stood up and let go of his wrists and grinned. "Well. I guess ill just have to go to bed alone then."
As she turned she unzipped her dress and let it fall as she walked across the room. Darkipliers eyes almost came out of his head at the sight of her in her black bra and panties. Now this was just evil....
He crossed the room behind her and slammed the door before she could get to it. She turned to see him staring at her in a way that made her feel very much like a wounded animal in front of a panther. He rolled his head to either side with his eyes closed and then stared her down again, his arm over her shoulder against the door, trapping her there
"Now Alison. You have given me great needs. Id like it very much if youd stop torturing me like this'
A playful smile played over her face "but its fun to see you squirm darlin" she licked her lips.
He stared at her than went to his knees "Fine. Is this what you what? You want me to admit i need you? Well here. I absolutely need you. In many ways. Right now i need you to let me run my hands over you, to taste you, to caress every inch inside and out that i can reach Miss Calaway"
He again reach for her hips and this time she didnt stop him. His kissed her on either side, tongue lightly darting over her stomach. He stood and backed her into the wall. Now it was his turn. He grabbed her by the back of her head and roughly captured her mouth, one hand gripping her ass. He moved to her neck, nipping her as she moaned and held onto his shoulders, one hand gripping his head.
"You know im going to have to punish you for that little one" he growled in her ear before.lightly biting her shoulder. She gasped at the sensation
"Ye..yes"
"And you do not need to try that all the time....not that i dont enjoy you being a little forceful.... Are we clear?" He moved to the other side of her neck, pushing his waist to hers as he kissed
"Yes"
"Yes what kitten?" He stared into her eyes as he said this. Conveying a need for her trust. Then he kissed her deeply before allowing her to answer
"Ye-yes sir?"
That did it. His groaned and grabbed the back of both of her legs and picked her up, her lega going around his waist and slammed her against the door as he kissed her. His tongue and lips exploring her neck and chest as she closed her eyes and let the passion wash over her
************
Dark stroked her hair as she lay in his arms. They were in his bed. Having made their way up here and finally she fell asleep after one more time. He smiled. She looked innocent but was decidely not.
Her skin was warm against his. Breast pressed against the side of his chest. He studied her sleeping face. Had he really said it... After the last time. Did those words come from his mouth?
He had said he loved her and she had thrown her head back and begged him to say it again. And when he had, louder this time she collapsed into his arms and whispered it back to him.
Where the words came from he didnt know. But they seemed so natural. He kissed her face and heard birds chirping....it was 5am..looks like theyd nap most of the day. But that was perfectly fine.
His phone buzzed on the night stand. He reached with one arm and grabbed it. Seeing a message from Mark
M:hey. Alisons parents are headed back to their place. If you want her go go, she can.
Darkiplier lauged and shot a text back
D:No. I dont think i want her going anywhere. Im going to keep her a little longer ;)
M:......what did you do
D:Now ask yourself. Do you really want the honest answer to that question from me?
M:... No. You know what. Probably not. Ill stop by when we get back to town next week
D:ok. Be sure to call first. Make sure we're decent and all
M: yeah ok.....and please dont allude to that again...ever
Dark laughed and sat his phone back down. Then wrapped around alison and fell into a heavy sleep...the most peaceful hed known in his existence.

A Silent Devotee Part Six - Light within Darkness
Tumblr media
Draco Malfoy x Reader
Warnings: This chapter contains smut ( and its sweet soft first time exploring shit which needs a warning of its own) !
A/N: i wrote a line in here thats a nod to my fav marauders so if you notice it and it personally attacks you I’m sorry but also please tell me lmao !!! <3
Word count 2.5 k    Series Masterlist   Part Seven
After that kiss between you and Draco not much else happened, you continued to sit by the lake. You laid your head on his lap, one of his hands brushed through your hair while you fiddled with his other, tracing lines and examining his fingers and palm.
You talked until it got dark outside and you had to go back in, you didn’t talk about the serious stuff like where your relationship was going or his death eater plans, you decided to live with him there in that moment and for that snippet of time everything felt okay.
You would have stayed outside all night if you knew how much things where about to change. Draco tried his hardest to remember everything about that night, it gave him hope of what a future with you could potentially look like, peaceful, carefree and loving. If he needed something, or someone to fight for that was it.
The next day as you made your way back from the library after studying with your friends you ran into Dumbledore, someone you had never really spoken to before.
“So I see Mr. Malfoy found his Fwooper.” Dumbledore spoke without even saying hello or stopping in front of you, he continued walking down the hall but you needed answers so you walked up beside him.
“What did you say?” You weren’t sure if you had heard him right.
“Don’t worry I won’t tell, some of my favourite students had Animagi secrets like you, they used it for good like you as well, to help a friend in need of coarse.” Dumbledore revealed so much information and simultaneously none at all.
“What do you mean helping a friend, Headmaster I’m a bit confused as to what you are talking about.” You questioned as he sat down on a bench in the empty hallway motioning for you to join him.
“Y/n dear, I know more and see more than people think, me and you have never spoken much before because you never needed guidance or reassurance like some students do. I did take notice to you, you were well liked for all the right reasons, non-judgmental, you have a passion for learning in which some students lack, you will be a great witch someday.”
“Thank you, but now I need guidance?” You questioned to where he was going with this.
“Well, not too long ago Draco showed up in my office to find out about a Fwooper bird, which I had assumed to be following him around, I know Draco doesn’t have the best path lied in front of him so I looked furthur into it. But not too long later I see him walking through the halls with none other than you, which I can only assume his follower was you and taking into account who I know you to be as a person and student, You, well what I’m trying to say is you don’t seem to be black mailing him, you have good intent.” Dumbledore tried to explain which made you question how much he knew about Draco.
“I don’t want to hurt anybody.” You confessed.
“Of course not, and that’s why you were the perfect person to stumble upon Draco in his time of need, but in a war like the one that’s slowly brewing, people are going to get hurt and die. I’m not saying it’s your job to keep Draco safe but being there for him will make such a difference. It’s not much to assume that with his father in Azkaban and the way he was acting like he had something to hide that he’s having to…fill his father’s shoes per say. In the end there are plans bigger than you may know, but what you do have to know is Draco is faced with darkness and you are everything light and good, he needs you to be there for him for there are decisions and actions he may have to do, and it is important that he does.” Dumbledore just dumped so much info onto you at once in his backwards way and you tried to process it, but when you looked up to question him further he was gone.
You were left confused, as if somehow Dumbledore knew something you didn’t, but how could he? You made your way back to Draco’s room to go see him but when you arrived at the Slytherin common room you were blocked by Pansy.
“You’re not a slytherin you can’t come in.” Pansy stood with her arms crossed in front of you.
“I don’t want to come in, can you just go get Draco for me?” You asked seeing as she was the only one around.
“Why would I do anything for you? Besides he’s not even here.” She spoke pushing her nose up in the air.
“I don’t have time to deal with you, whether he truly is here or not, your infuriating to be around.” You said with precision wiping that smirk off her face as you walked away. It wasn’t normal for you to be mean to people but Pansy deserved it.
You walked through the hallways back towards your own common room but as you passed a hallway you saw Draco walking at a fast pace. You ran to catch up to him and wrapped your arms around him from behind, he jumped but when he realized it was you he relaxed his shoulders and gently held your arms with his hands.
You turned around him to see he looked stressed and his wand was in his hands, something you noticed he did when he was scared although he’d never admit it.
“What are you doing?” You rubbed your thumbs across his cheeks feeling his skin, he closed his eyes contently at the small contact.
“Nothing, I’m just… nothing.” He said, although he was clearly lying.
“Well why would you look so stressed out over nothing.” You said wrapping your arms around his waist as he did the same, holding each other close.
“I just can’t really talk about it, I’m sorry I-” You interrupted him with a kiss which took him by surprise, he didn’t get the chance to kiss back before you pulled away.
“I won’t push you for answers, those done matter to me, you do.” You said sweetly.
“Merlin, I’d be so lost without you.” He rested his head on yours while he spoke, waiting for you to speak again before he could kiss you.
“Well then call me your map.” You giggled at your lame joke making him smile.
“I’d rather call you something else.” He almost whispered to you.
“Mhm? Like what?” You questioned hoping you knew where he was going.
“I don’t know, maybe my girlfriend?” He asked timidly, like you hadn’t just kissed him minutes ago, like the way you were holding him right now was in a friendly manner.
“Well I do like the ring of that.” You laughed, kissing him again it was short and sweet since you pulled away quickly but Draco had no plan of pulling away, he continued leaning into the kiss and your lips not being there made him pout.
“My own Girlfriend won’t even kiss me.” He teased.
“I just did you fool, I just don’t want to kiss you more here.” You motioned to the hallway that was mostly empty but Draco looked behind him to see the room of requirement, remembering what he was just doing in there and silently agreed that he wanted to get away from here.
He took your hand and walked at a fast pace to the empty astronomy tower.
“We are just as likely to get caught here Draco.” You said as you rested your elbows on the brick, looking up to the stars.
“Well at least we can hear them coming up the stairs, gives us time to stop snogging and act innocent, there are no rules about being up here.” Draco spoke like he had thought this over, to which he had, falling asleep many nights just thinking about this.
“Okay then, tell me about the constellations then.” You said motioning towards the many that lit up the sky.
“Well I don’t know any that you don’t know, we took the same astrology class Y/n.” He said wrapping his arms around your waist from behind you resting his chin atop your shoulder.
“What? You mean to tell me, Mr. Fancy Rich Malfoy didn’t have an expensive telescope to look through growing up?” You teased, making him supress his laugh in your shoulder.
“Well we did actually, but it was more of a decoration.” He admitted.
“Well you will just have to teach me something else then.” You said with a suggestive smile on your face, you turned to face him capturing his lips in a deep kiss, you placed your hands on the sides of his face and he eagerly pulled your body flush to his.
You kissed down his cheek and down his neck gently sucking and nipping at the skin, you didn’t break contact from his neck while you pushed him down to straddle his lap, your knees hitting the cold concrete underneath the two of you.
“Oh, well, I can’t teach you much about that either” he struggled to say while you continued to kiss his neck, scared to admit how little experience he truly had with this sort of stuff.
“That’s okay, I don’t have any experience either, a lot of people like me but not enough to ask me to Hogsmead or anything?” You admitted, this whole relationship thing was completely new to you.
“You’ve never been on a date to Hogsmead?” Draco asked making a shocked face. “People didn’t like me but I still got asked to Hogsmead many times.”
“Wow thanks Draco that makes me feel so great.” You said sarcastically “Tell me more about all these girls that you snogged and bought candy at Honey Dukes, really I do love it.” You continued to joke, not in a jealous way just making fun of him really.
“No, I only ever went a few times but they all bored me or annoyed me, you’re the first person I ever kissed Y/n, you’re the only person I’ve ever felt like this with.” He admitted placing a tender kiss on your forehead.
“I get to be Draco Malfoys first kiss?” You aked pretending to sound astonished at the news.
“You can be a couple other firsts if you’d like.” He said now kissing your neck and down your collar bone.
________________Smut starts below this line____________________
“How about more than a couple.” You said holding back a moan as he sucked hard on the base of your neck, likely leaving a mark.
“We better get started then.” He said seductively as he swiftly lifted your shirt over your head, your lips met in a searing kiss moving effortlessly together, tongues moving to each other’s mouths sloppily kissing like you had seen others do, just learning the motions.
His hands made their way to your bra fumbling to undo the back for a second before revealing your bare chest to the cold night air making your nipples perk up.
Draco pulled away from the kiss making you let out a noise of protest as he admired your chest, his pants tightening at just the sight of you, he reached out his hands looking up to your eyes again as you nodded giving him permission to caress your breasts, he squeezed them lightly and then slowly got a bit rougher testing how far he could go, rubbing his thumbs over your nipples and kissing his way down your neck until he reached your breasts, now sucking and kissing all over them.
“Mhm, Draco its so, so good.” You moaned, making sure he knew what you liked and didn’t since you were both experimenting.
You grinded down onto his growing bulge making him stop what he was doing with his mouth and let out a low moan that he tried to supress. “Merlin Y/n, that’s heavenly.” He said into the skin of your neck.
His hand sneaked up your skirt making you move back a bit on his lap, his finger pushed your panties to the side, you unzipped his pants slipping your hand under his pants grabbing his length in your hand.
You both were filled to the brim with ecstasy needing a release quickly. Draco pushed his fingers between your slits rubbing over your clit and sticking two fingers slowly inside of you, making you squeeze his dick with your hand and  burry your face in his neck.
When you pulled his underwear down and wrapped your fingers around him, slowly moving your hand up and down he bit down on your shoulder groaning. Both of you weren’t new to the general actions, you just weren’t used to someone else doing it.
Draco curled his fingers inside you continuously pumping his fingers in and out as you continued to pump him with your hand, both of you speeding up trying to get that release. You squeezed around his fingers and you felt him twitch in your hand signalling that the both of you were close to release.
Your chests heaving as you both came undone in each other’s hands, staying still for a moment before relaxing into each other’s bodies catching your breath.
_____________Smut ends above this line______________________
“That was so nice.” You said in a tired voice against his neck.
“Just nice?” Draco questioned wrapping his arms around your back.
“More than nice, amazing, lovely, addicting.”  You muttered against his skin leaving kisses after each words.
“oh addicting you say? You want more?” Draco cheekily asked snaking his hand back under your skirt but you stopped him.
“Of course just not right now, it’s getting close to curfew Draco.” You used all your willpower to stop him even though you really wanted more.
“Oh you and following the rules, how boring.” He teased passing you your bra and shirt as you did his pants back up for him.
“Shhh, you love how good I am.”
“Well opposites attract, or at least that’s what they say.” Draco said, a hint of sadness in his voice.
As you made your way back to your common room Draco stopped outside. “Let me take you to Hogsmead on the weekend?” He asked eagerly, a big smile on his face.
“As long as you keep your hands to yourself Malfoy.”
“I make no promises.” He chuckled as he placed a tender sweet kiss on your lips. People saw and stared but when you pulled away quickly looked away from the two of you.
“Goodnight Draco.” You smiled walking into your common room filled to the brim with happiness and joy.
Draco was left alone in the hallway, the quiet whispers deafening , the judgmental stares stabbing into his skin, he made his way back to his own common room and replayed the memory of the two of you at the lake, it helped to calm him down.

Cheeseburger in Paradise: Three.
Tumblr media
Her first four days in Aruba were spent lounging around the beach and drinking alcohol from carved out fruit.
To say it had already been a successful vacation would be an understatement.
After her breakup with Marcus, Georgina Ferguson had become a stereotypical workaholic. She spent too much time at the office. She put in too much effort into her work. And worst of all, she was paid too little for it all.
When she moved to LA, it just got worse.
Georgina was on the verge of wearing herself thin and only two people took notice.
One lived across the pond and the other was currently sat across from her sloppily eating a bowl of oatmeal.
“Horan, you know your bowl isn’t going anywhere.” She said dryly.
His baby blue eyes flicked up at her. His lips turned up into a mischievous grin. He reached over and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. She rolled her eyes in disgust making him laugh.
“Thought they would’ve taught ya manners in Popstar 101.” Georgina teased.
Niall shook his head. “That’s not until the 300 level course.”
Georgina laughed before handing over a paper napkin. Niall took it graciously before cleaning up the mess he had made.
It was barely eight o'clock in the morning. Various types of breakfast were being consumed as the group decided what their plans were for the day.
The group consensus was swimming with sharks and Georgina was not having it.
“Fergie, why don’t you want to come?” Maggie asked grabbing a spoon from the drawer.
“Because I don’t want to die.” Georgina replied as if the answer was obvious.
“You’re more likely to get killed by a cow than a shark Fergs.” Keith mentioned between bites of his egg dish.
“I bet she’s probably on her lady business or summat.” David joked from the fridge.
“Can’t be attracting those beasts towards us then.” Jamie cackled causing all the women to roll their eyes.
“Are you sure you don’t want to come G?” Brittany asked sitting down beside her.
“Positive.” Georgina said. “Sorry”
“She doesn’t do live animals.” Niall spat mimicking her accent perfectly.
“Oh fuck off you.” She grumbled feeling her skin grow warm.
“What are you gonna do then?” Brittany asked putting pepper on her eggs.
“Stay around here. Maybe lounge by the pool. Read.” Georgina shrugged. “Nap.”
“Got me suncream and a novel. Alls I need is a pineapple of rum and m'set.” Niall said pretending to be her once more.
“Will you quit it!” She glared at him playfully.
“Or what?” He asked flirtatiously.
Before she could respond, Georgina was hit upside the head by her best friend. This only sent the boy in front of her into a fit of laughter.
She hated how much the sound of his laugh made her stomach flip.
She usually was good about hiding those types of things. She could push down her feelings and act like they didn’t exist. She could focus on other things, like work or finding the probability of a team winning the Champions League final. She could detach – especially when it came to Niall. However, after finding out how much effort he had put into getting her to Aruba, something inside her changed. Being mean seemed cruel.
Within the past few days, a switch was flipped. She was finding it more difficult to detach herself from the thought of him. He still was a pain the ass but there was something about him that was almost endearing.
Before she could get lost deeper in her own mind, Maggie’s voice rang in her ears.  She looked up to find everyone looking at her. A slight blush crept across her face.
“What’s up?” Georgina asked sheepishly.
“Just want to confirm, you’re a no to the shark adventure?” Maggie asked.
“Correct.” Georgina nodded.
“Okay. We’ll be even then.” Maggie said grabbing her phone to see if she could book a reservation on the boat.
“What are we gonna do after?” Georgina asked looking around. “Like tonight?”
“Cook dinner and go out to the bars?” Jamie suggested.
“They’ve got a cool water show at the animal reserve near by.” Keith suggested next.
“We can stay here and drink again.” David said with a smile on his face.
“I’m sick of doing that.” Jamie sighed. “We need to experience the nightlife here.”
“I’m in.” Maggie said glancing up from her phone.
A few of the other couples agreed to join.
“I don’t want to spend a lot though.” David whined.
“We can pregame before and you’ll be fine.” Brittany said looking at her boyfriend.
“Ni?” Jamie asked.
“I’m in.” He said crossing his arms over his chest.
“Fergie?” Jamie asked turning towards her.
Georgina shrugged. “Me too I guess.”
“It’s settled then.” Jamie said getting up from the table. “I say we try to leave here in an hour, yeah?”
Most of the others started to clean up their messes before heading up to their room. Georgina sat quietly and finished up the food she had made. She looked up to find Niall still sitting across from her.
“Shouldn’t you be getting ready?” She asked taking a bite of her toast.
“You’re not done yet.” Niall shrugged.
“So?” Georgina asked confused.
“It’s rude to leave if someone’s still eating Fergie.” He sighed playfully.
Her skin grew warm as she tried to fight the way he made her feel.
“I didn’t think you’d want to come with us today. When Jamie brought it up last night, I knew you’d say no.” He said trying to change the subject.
“Wanna look at the flamingos at the beach? I’m in. Wanna see the dolphin show at that aquarium thing we saw? I’ll  be there. Want to get into a tiny cage in the middle of the ocean and have man eating monsters come swim by you? That’s where I draw the line!” She exclaimed.
Niall laughed softly making her smile.
“I’m surprised you’re going.” Georgina said.
He furrowed his brow perplexed. “Why?”
“Don’t you hate confined spaces?” Georgina asked mid chew.
“Well yeah that’s true.” He said with a nod.
“Then why are you doing it?” She asked.
“For Davey. He said he’d buy me a pint if I went.” Niall said. He saw the confused look on his face so he continued to explain. “Britt’s scared of confined spaces too so we thought if she saw me go that it would help her do it.”
“Good luck with that one. You two can’t even get on the ferris wheel at California Adventure.” Georgina said.
“Hey! That shit is tiny.” Niall said defending their reason to avoid that ride. “I’m hoping this cage thing is a lot bigger.”
“Niall! That’s what’s you’re worried about?!” She asked in shock. “A fucking shark is going to be swimming at you!”
“I’ve dealt with worse.” He shrugged.
Georgina rolled her eyes. “Teenage girls don’t count.”
“When they come out in masses they do!” He shot back.
“I’ll be saying a prayer for you all.” Georgina said. “You lot are idiots.”
“Means a lot Fergie.” He joked throwing his used napkin at her.
She finished up her food and stood up to head to the sink. Niall grabbed her plate and stacked it beneath his own before heading to the fridge. She scanned the table and cleaned up the little messes everyone else left.
Once they were done, the pair headed down the hallway towards their rooms. When they reached her door, Niall stopped  and cautiously placed an arm on her shoulder to get her attention. Georgina looked up at him.
“If I die today, you can have the chair that you always fall asleep in when you drink too much wine at my place.” Niall said with a smile.
Her eyes lit up at the lightheartedness in his voice.
“You can also have the shitty wine bottle opener you always leave behind because you don’t want it at your house.” He teased.
“It’s not shitty.” She narrowed her eyes at him. “You just don’t know how to use it.”
“I don’t drink wine so I don’t need one.” Niall said defending himself.
“Yeah but I do. And so does Britt. You should have one just for us.” She said with an innocent smile.
He shook his head trying to convince his body that it didn’t need to show how he was truly feeling.
“I’ll buy you a better one when we get back. I’ve had my eyes on a really sick electric one so you can have the nice one at my house.” She said making him laugh.
“I can get one if ya want.” Niall offered.
She reached out and poked him in the chest. “No. You aren’t the only one who makes money around here Horan.”
“You’re right.” He blushed.
“How long are you going to be shark bait for?” She asked changing the subject for him.
“Dunno. I imagine it’ll be a few hours.” He shrugged.
“Unless something goes wrong.” She joked.
Georgina nudged him playfully before grinning. “Then I’ll be one chair richer.”
Niall’s infectious laugh filled the hallway as they both retreated to their rooms to get ready for the day.

Obama Wanted To End ‘Childish Things’ In Washington. Instead, He Got Trump.
On a frigid day in January 2009, after the chief justice of the Supreme Court bungled the oath of office, Barack Obama delivered his inaugural address to a crowd of millions and implored them to understand the gravity of the moment.
The time for recriminations and worn-out dogmas had ended, the president declared, in a nod to the bitter campaign that had just concluded and the crumbling U.S. economy he was inheriting. We remain a young nation. But in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things.
Eight years later, the economy has improved. But those childish things very much remain, and they have clouded Obamas swan song in office and complicated his legacy.
As Obama prepared for his final speech last week in his hometown of Chicago, his successor, Donald Trumpa reality television host with little grasp of policy issues, save a desire to upend much of his predecessors agenda faced accusations that hed watched Russian prostitutes urinate on his hotel bed.
It is an inharmonious and depressing bookend to the Obama years, which will be defined by historic legislative achievements, relentless partisanship and the fusion of media, entertainment and governance. And for many veterans of the administration, that failure to move beyond the immaterial distractions and endless squabbles that often consume politics is the sore spot of his legacy.
The toxicity of the environment here, we were not able to change. That doesnt mean it cant change in the future. It just means we fell short of where we hoped to go. Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to President Barack Obama
We were not as successful as we hoped we would be [in changing the culture of Washington], said Obamas longtime senior adviser, Valerie Jarrett, in an interview. But I will say this: Notwithstanding that, we still made enormous progress here. We were able to get some extraordinary accomplishments done that have benefited our country. But the toxicity of the environment here, we were not able to change. That doesnt mean it cant change in the future. It just means we fell short of where we hoped to go.
Though it is dwarfed by his legislative successes, Obamas inability to change the culture of Washington is no small failure. It was the keystone to his 2008 campaign, and arguably the main ingredient in his upset primary win over Hillary Clinton and his general election triumph over John McCain.
But for some Democrats, the notion that childish things could ever be truly set aside was always a touch naive. Howard Dean, who chaired the Democratic National Committee when Obama first ran, recalled a conversation the two had after Obama had secured the Democratic nomination.
He said, Im through the hardest part now, Dean recalled Obama saying. And I said, If you think that, you have another thing coming. These guys are ruthless and their only mission is that you dont succeed.
To a large degree, Dean was the more prescient of the pair. The night of Obamas inauguration, House Republicans dined with top operatives, plotting how to put the brakes on his agenda and win back power. Months later, Republican leadership announced their opposition to the Recovery Actbefore Obama had even finished a meeting to pitch the economic stimulus package to members of Congress. It was a sharp and early illustration of the GOP id. The fact that it took Obama years to recognize it as such, his aides now concede, was a strategic miscalculation.
But it wasnt just the knee-jerk opposition of Republicans that confounded the Obama White House. A host of distractions and quasi-scandals during those early months and years proved maddening as well. There was the absurd cable catnip, like the infamous terrorist fist jab that Obama exchanged with his wife; the partisan-hyped controversies, like the conservative talk radio complaints over the presidents efforts to secure the Olympic Games in Chicago; and the rhetorical missteps that sucked the oxygen out of the room.
None were quite as memorable as what transpired on June 22, 2009. That day, Obama gave a press conference in which 12 of the first 14 questions involved his efforts to construct and pass health care reform (in between was a question on financial regulatory overhauls). The question that ended up getting the most attention, however, would be the very last, when Obama responded to a request for comment on the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. at his Cambridge home by suggesting the officer had acted stupidly.
It would take a week for that micro-scandal to die down, and only after the officer, Gates and Obama met at the White House for a beer summit to talk things over.
Jim Young/Reuters
The infamous beer summit.
For Obamas staff, the challenge quickly became figuring out which crises were real and which were ephemeral. Sometimes, they arguably made matters worse, like informally blacklisting Fox News amid a torrent of conspiratorial coverage from its then-host and chalkboard aficionado Glenn Beck or elevating talk show host Rush Limbaugh as the face of the GOP in 2009 rather than dismissing him outright.
But on the whole, Obamas aides learned to distinguish between the substance and the noise. They also figured out which battles to pick and which to avoid. Obama, for example, became notably more deliberate about addressing racial issues following the beer summit because, aides said, he recognized that his involvement often only further polarized matters.
The problem was, Obama had pledged to lower the noise and not simply skate around it. And as time went on, it became increasingly malignant. A congressman could scream you lie at the president during a bicameral event and raise a quick million dollars in donations. End-of-life consultations could be depicted as death panels not only on the conservative fringe, but byRepublican senatorsthe White House was trying to woo. And a reality television star could push a racist conspiracy theory about the presidents birthplace and, instead of being laughed off the air, turn it into a foundation for a White House bid.
Dan Pfeiffer, the presidents longtime aide, argued that the key element in all this was a political media culture that not only enjoyed the spectacle but profited from it. One reason that the White House ultimately decided to release Obamas birth certificate in April 2011, for example, was because aides felt they couldnt move past Trumps provocations during the daily briefing.
I remember that period very well, because there was a lot of real serious shit happening in the world, a European financial crisis, and the economy was in a bad place, Pfeiffer told HuffPost last fall. But Donald Trump kept going on TV and he would make these claims, and it was treated as: Well, Trump says this. It wasnt with great scrutiny. He was being given a bullhorn to shout racist shit without being called on it.
While it became clearer that childish things werent going away, the president still attempted to forge through them. For months, he searched around for a Republican to support his health care bill, to no avail. He made an abrupt shift from Keynesian stimulus to deficit reduction to calm his conservative critics in 2010. And in the summer of 2011, he sought a grand bargain on entitlements and taxes with then-House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) when there was little indication that Boehner would, or could, ever get his caucus to go along. Sure enough, the deal fell apart, replaced by a series of sharp and indiscriminate budget cuts known as sequestration.
Larry Downing/Reuters
Barack Obama and John Boehner during the 2011 debt ceiling negotiations.
The presidents closest aides were fond of saying that the GOP fever would eventually break, first after Republicans won control of the House in 2010, then after they lost the election in 2012, and finally after they shut down the government in 2013. But it never did. And eventually, Obama went his own route, famously deploying his pen and phone strategy of executive and administrative actions.
For his close advisers and friends, it is a testament to Obamas character that he continued believing, up until that moment, that Washington could, indeed, change its stripes. But even they recognize that his earlier reluctance to acknowledge that childish things would remain was not without sacrifice that the pursuit of comity sometimes came at the cost of sound messaging and policy.
No one can look back eight years and say we couldnt have done a better job somewhere, given the outcome, said Anita Dunn, Obamas former adviser. The policies will stand the test of time, the presidents personal standing is high as he leaves office (as it should be), but somewhere along the way, too many people stopped seeing the Democratic Party as relentlessly focused on improving the economy and their lives, which opened the door for Donald Trump.
