hi can i ask what a heat wrap is and how you do it! i'm trying to get diagnosed with EDS and my neck absolutely kills me every single day. i've been trying a heating pad, but i'm curious as to how you, another person with EDS, does it? also, DEF buying one of those pillows

For sure! Heatpads are excellent and if you have one I fully rec using it for aches and pains, but you can also buy things that are designed specifically for necks/shoulders that contour to the body.

You can get electric ones like these:

Or similar shaped ones that can also go in the microwave. I find these types to be very useful when I’m having to work at the computer for long periods of time. But I also don’t like the smell that comes off a lot of them (a lot of these things come with aromatherapy smells in them and no thank you) so I tend to use corn bags I can either throw in the microwave or the freezer, depending on what I need them for.

 They can look like this:

Or you can get them in different shapes and sizes, like a long snakelike one for around your neck, or smaller ones to use elsewhere. I’ve got small, hand-sized ones I can throw in the microwave for 30 seconds then put over my eyes to help with headaches and dry eyes. or I keep some of them in the freezer for headaches. They’re super great and they hold heat a long time. I even use them to warm the bed up at night before I go to sleep.

They’re also pretty easy to make yourself. And can also make great gifts, especially for folks with chronic illnesses and pain issues.

You can also fill them with wheat chaff, oats or rice (Most people are probably familiar with the “fill a sock with rice and throw it in the microwave” version of the homemade heatpack.) but I prefer corn, both cause I’m not allergic to it/the smell doesn’t bother me, and I also find the weight of the heated corn bags to be soothing. So that’s nice when I’m in pain and just want to sleep.

Just be sure to use feed corn. My friend once made me one using pop corn and uh, not quite as effective 😂

The sushi lady went OFF about the deli supervisor not cleaning up after herself today and I was like, "God, yes, I feel ya!" And I ended up cleaning up the (dangerous!) mess on the floor cuz the supervisor decided to ignore it, and I don't even mind much because later when [sushi lady] went to the assistant manager about the sitch I got to pipe up about [supervisor] always putting her shit on my workspace, even on the heatwrap while I'm using it.

Of course, probably nothing will be done about it, since [supervisor] will only take correction from the deli manager, not even the assistant, because she dates the manager's brother. (And to think! I was worried about [work hubs'] "nepotism" for me!! Half the store is involved in relationships with the deli manager's fam! Lmao)

I really appreciate the sushi team. They seem to like things as clean as I do, and they're conscientious about it. They do their work and mostly ignore the chaos around them; wash their own dishes and get quietly exasperated over the disgusting state of the sinks. Same, gang, same.

I'm a little jealous, too. Since they're on an outsourced contract, they don't work FOR the store, so they literally just get to concentrate on their specialized sub-dept. Which is, ostensibly, what I was promised when they begged for me.

Anyway, other than whats-her-face's attitude, today was nice. Deli manager was off, so not breathing down my neck, and I got my case cleaned and reset correctly. Got my Parmigiano Reggiano wheel set out so I can crack it on Friday--ISTG if I come in Friday and that bitch has been put back in the cooler AGAIN, some other bitch can try to crack it cuz I'm not killing my back over fuckin parm tyvm.

if u get cramps a lot id recommend looking at like, thermacare heatwraps! they have menstrual ones and back ones and theyre super useful + you can wear them while youre out. they helped me get thru my grade 9 math final :] if u need cramp tips i had chronic pelvic pain for a year and a half so lmk
