right, sam arrested. though alethea knew this had to be a set-up, there was no way she set a fire, no way she was g. and yet...that's what everyone was believing, even fellow students. they didn't know heath very well, but if they were honest they wouldn't trust his judgment very much to begin with. "you know that for sure?" she raised an eyebrow at him, arms crossed over her chest, leaned back against the cool metal wall of the elevator as it slowly ticked its way up. "i guess we'll...see about it." they added. "people have been wrong about g and everything so far it seems." so why trust them all now? "you look like you're struggling a bit there." she adds, unsure why, and then does nothing to help.
Sam, right. That was her name. Heath shrugged again, a little clunkier in the motion, taking the time to adjust his grip on the box he now severely regretted lugging up to the top floor. "Sure, why not? She was arrested, so…" Soooo, she definitely, totally, absolutely had to be guilty, right? That wasn't at all how the justice system worked, and Heath was well aware, but he would've preferred it to be that way, at least for a little peace of mind. "Maybe she didn't cause all the, uh -- texts and stuff." Belatedly, he stopped himself from mentioning G, a little cagey about uttering their name aloud to anyone, uncertain of who had been personally harassed or was blissfully on the outside of it. "But she did start the fire. She's guilty of that," he decided with firm conviction.

who: @heathtalbot when/where: homecoming gala, right after homecoming court announcement
It only took one glance around at the rest of the court for Cara to decide who she would be partnering off with for the customary dance after the announcement. Cara motioned two fingers for him to come closer as soon as she met Heath's eyes. "Come here." Her head tilted towards a shoulder as her eyebrows arched up at any sign of hesitation, a brief look of offense already flashing over her face, as if in preparation for the tantrum she would throw if he did. "Dance with me," she said, her ponytail tossed over a shoulder as she lifted her chin, not leaving much - if any - room for him to say no.

SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2023
After last year, it was no wonder that everyone was waiting on the edge of their seats for whatever would befall them during the Homecoming Gala that year. There was no way a night at an Ogden College event would go smoothly. And as the night went on, and no anonymous taunts or threats were dangled their way, no one relaxed. Even as they prepared to announce the winners of the vote, a member of the student board stepping up to the mic, the tension only ramped up.
Ogden College’s Homecoming Court for 2023 is...
King - @ollieinoue Queen - @walshparker Homecoming Court - @cara-mrrsn, @charfletchh, @heathtalbot, @ironlvngs, @nataliavega, @sassa-fiske
It seemed that - or once - they were being allowed to enjoy their evening. But students, even those claiming their victories, still didn't loosen up. Because surely G was brewing something in the silence.
And the longer it lasted....
the more foreboding it seemed.

PIKE house. Early in the night. [ @heathtalbot ]
It wasn't as if Ambrose wasn't a social person. He was. He tried to be, anyway. But he'd been here for about a month, how was he supposed to know who this stupid text was about? It could have been anyone. So, he decided he'd use the party to try to figure it out. Anyone who might have any information … As he headed up the pathway towards the fraternity house he spotted Heath nearby, perking up. Heath might be a good person to chat with. He usually knew a ton of things! Ambrose felt like he might know something about this too. "Hello," He greeted, as he wandered over towards the other, very casual. "So, those texts." A very subtle way to start the conversation. Ambrose gave a falsely unaffected type of laugh. He was affected. He was very much affected. His cousin was still missing and the police decided it didn't matter. "That's the 'G' thing everyone keeps talking about?"

Location: SAE Time: Early in the morning after a rush party Who: @heathtalbot
It was a long arduous task getting people to get the fuck out of the house after a party, which was why Milo usually left to go back to his dorm instead of sticking around to help. But Rush was important, and he needed to show face. Fine. He did, he even helped clean up a little bit afterwards before finally tossing himself down onto the couch next to Heath, offering some of the half filled bag of mixed nuts he was holding towards the other. "Why does it feel like every crop of freshmen just gets worse and worse?" He asked, leaning back with a scoff. "I don't think I talked to a single damn one that I wanted to be around for more than five minutes."

Who: Heath Talbot. When: Friday, August 25th. Where: Linden Dorm, 2A.
It had provided an unexpected sense of relief upon her return, to still not have a phone on her person, to not face the barrage of things she'd missed in her time away. It was something she knew she wouldn't be able to avoid forever, the same way she couldn't avoid her parents forever, phone delivered earlier that day along with packages from home and a call to her mother that she couldn't put off any longer. The silver lining was that it'd given her an excuse to be there, in Heath's dorm, hand delivering a package her mother had insisted she get to him as well as making sure he was settling in okay. It was a task that wasn't needed considering he not only wasn't a child but had a year of this experience over her, an argument Carmen wouldn't have made even if she thought the older woman would hear it. She's too complaisant and perhaps smitten to not stop by, to not drop off the parcel and bring lunch along with her, unable to stop herself from gathering stray pieces of clothes now that she was inside. "You've already created a mess, how is that even possible?"

Is anyone wanting the Wannabe as a younger sibling?
anon -
I asked our members and this is definitely something some people would be interested in !!! Some of the answers I got were step siblings for @charfletchh, a younger sister for @heathtalbot, unknown half siblings for @eloiseabernathy, a younger brother for @aletheapierce, half/step/foster siblings for @ash-morse, or even half siblings for THE POLLYANNA (@ollieinoue), even though she no longer attends Ogden. I double checked with the mun, and siblings for THE SIREN ( @aletheapierce) are still up for grabs too !!! If any of those catch your eye, I would reach out to the muns to get a quick vibe !!!
edit: also adding that @jessehart could have an unknown half sibling on his fathers side !!!

"he's probably right." alethea mumbles in agreement with heath's dad. and they certainly didn't have any of that instinct, or would they really be in this situation? stuck at ogden, best friend missing, hating life? perhaps not. "you think sam did it?" they corrected him, curious now. she hadn't been close to her but...from what alethea knew she didn't believe in the slightest that she was the one behind it. g was just that good at getting people out of the way it seemed. "no, and i think people are counting on it. podcast would be better if batshit crazy things kept happening."
"My dad always says that humans have no self-preservation instinct anymore." 'My dad always says' -- eugh, gross. He really thought he'd eliminated that phrase from his vocabulary. Trying to hide his own cringing expression, Heath shook his head a little and rolled his eyes, glancing away and then back to the other. "I guess this proves him right," he continued on, shrugging, "because who's to say that this year isn't just as batshit and dangerous? I know that they arrested that girl" -- and Heath was trying hard to convince himself that Sam was guilty, despite the explicit message from G saying otherwise -- "but, like… c'mon." He scoffed softly, lips turning in the direction of a morbid smile. "Do you think we're about to have an average, All-American college school year?"

alethea nodded with a soft 'yea' as they reached to hit the button. her arms crossed over her chest as she leaned back in the elevator, fairly certain heath wouldn't say anything else to her - he never did. "oh? hmm..." she thought, head nodding from side to side as she thought. "probably, lowered the sat and gpa requirement, probably are paying students off to fill their quota." instead of the other way around. "or you know people have morbid curiosity, let's go to school where the pretty girl went missing and maybe we can be the ones to solve her mystery to start off our youtube channel and podcast."
Heath's brows creased in obvious confusion, practically doing a double-take in real time as he looked at the other. Were they… not a freshman? A few seconds of silent staring passed, him trying to place their face before giving up. Whatever. "You mind hitting the button for me?" he asked, juggling the box a little to point at the keypad on her side of the elevator. "Top floor." It almost seemed as if he wasn't going to say another word, leaving them to ride the elevator in silence, but then he did. "What do you think they had to do to lure applicants into sticking with Ogden? Discount tuition?" He snorted lightly, disparaging and thoughtless remarks always a favorite of Heath's. Brain off, mouth open -- a great way to live, if you asked him (in more ways than one). "That'd explain all the idiot normies wandering around."

alethea was finished getting everything back in, and was actually thinking about leaving the dorms for a little while until...the freshman found their way around to put it lightly. leaned against the wall, arms crossed as a gaggle of freshman meandered through, surprised to see heath coming in behind them with a box in his arms.
even more surprising when he turned to her, offering a comment. "both probably." they offered with a shrug, watching the freshman look back at them before continuing on. "i was definitely a lost freshman, and i definitely think ogden had to lower their expectations in light...of everything." their voice dropped off.
with: open to all location: any of the dorm buildings! when: sometime in the first week back
There was a ding! and the elevator doors slid opening, revealing a cluster of excited, chattering freshmen… who were not exiting fast enough. "Move!" Heath barked, startling them right out. He sighed as he stepped onto the elevator, trying to maneuver the weight of the awkwardly packed box in his arms, an ugly lamp jutting out from the top of it, repeatedly knocking his chin. He'd learned his lesson. Never again would he offer to help a hot girl carry something up to her dorm, because, inevitably, he'd get stuck unloading her entire car. "Is everyone that clueless their first year?" he asked rhetorically, slumping sideways against the wall. "Or did the entry requirements for Ogden totally tank after everything last year?"
