While he had noted the lack of anything being done on the day in question, it wasn’t as though Keith had harbored a grudge. Even if he had received wishes from the others, he was still too used to his birthday being a quiet affair, something that he might remember only in passing as the day came and went. Granted, it wasn’t always like that... but with the death of his father and the whirlwind of foster homes, it just ended up... happening...

Thus, it was a bit embarrassing how Lance seemed to be taking the supposed negligence hard. He was well aware that the other was busy, and he hadn’t been planning on holding it against him... but there was something in his expression that stopped from insisting that he let it go and that it wasn’t as huge as a deal as he was making it. ( Even if... that was true. )

“Um... Okay...?” A hesitate smile plays on his lips, hand brushing the back of his neck as the other rested on his hip. “I’m really not mad, but... if you wanna still do something for it... I’m not gonna tell you no.”

“I will try my best,” and she meant it, however, it was hard to control her curiosity. Everything was just so shiny, different, colourful and… New. The North Pole was nothing like the one place she has spent all of her years living in. The mansion her father ordered to build was gothic and Victorian, while this palace was the complete opposite in aesthetics and style. A breath of fresh air.

Holy rabies… She was acting like a kid. “So… Does each Guardian have their own palace? A place they can call their home?” This has to be his home, right? Where else would he and the yetis and little elves live? Out in the snow with no roof to hide underneath?

If there was one thing that felt empty, it was Sora’s wish to ‘properly’ thank her in person, but Naminé felt like she didn’t deserve it. Not when he doesn’t know all the things she’d done. In fact, despite being told to do it, she complied with Marluxia to rewrite Sora’s memories. It filled her with guilt, even if it was him, Donald, and Goofy who had wanted to ‘thank her’. A gesture much too kind for the trouble she caused them. All for naught, because she ended up captive again under DiZ, as though he thought she would not fulfill her promise to Sora.

She can almost hear his words coming, “Tha---” A small hand raised, funnily enough like she did when she’d met Roxas, but this was not going to go well. “No, Sora...” He had the right to know, know he did not have to thank her for something that was right to do. “I’m the main reason why you were asleep for so long.” Bringing him to sit down, she sighed softly, “When you were stuck in the Realm Between, I lured you into entering Castle Oblivion, under the demands of Marluxia and Larxene. And the closer you got inside of the Castle, I was replacing your memories... I added myself into memories with you, Riku, and Kairi...”

Now, was her most guilty action, one that pang her new heart with guilt, when she looks at Kairi, “You weren’t moving fast enough, so the plans changed... I replaced Kairi from your memories and replaced them with me... I made you forget her...” She continued to tell him everything, how she implanted memories into the Riku Replica to fight Sora, to her escape with the help of Axel, then his fight with Repliku, and Larxene, everything. She spilled everything to him and her shoulders shook with her soft sobs, her heart hurt ten folds. This hurt more than explaining things to him when she went to him in Castle Oblivion. Then she began to tell him about Xion, how she had some of his memories and Naminé had to completely remove her from everyone’s memory, despite there being a way to let Xion live and just take Sora’s memories, but she went with DiZ’s method...

She had wanted to make up her wrongs with Xion, when she went against DiZ and tried a different approach with Roxas. Tears spilled down pale cheeks, a shake of her head as she turned away from Sora, much too afraid and ashamed to face him. “I don’t deserve you thanking me...” she sniffed, trying to speak through the sobs, “I don’t deserve everyone’s kindness...” This was why she believed no one missed her, Larxene’s voice ringing through her mind, tormenting her, ‘You’re just a despicable little witch, you will never have true friends’. She waited for his reaction, to hear him leave her room in Mysterious Tower, to get angry at her, prove Larxene’s words forever...

But she flinched when she felt hands at both sides of her face and the wiping of her tears, such an intimate level of comfort, her heart beating hard against her rib cage. She wanted to look away, but she didn’t just staring at him with sorrowful eyes, her chin shook as she tried to hold it all in. This was a kindness she didn’t deserve not with all that she had done, the despicable little witch. “I’m so sorry, Sora...”
