22, which is both more and less than i expected.

2. what's your total ao3 wordcount?

529,320

3. what fandoms do you write for?

i've branched out in recent years; like my fellow taggers, i write for fewer fandoms that i'm in. food takes ages to cook and even longer to actually commit to. i started with mdzs/cql and tgcf before moving to shl/tyk, though now i mostly write trigun and video game fic.

4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?

5. do you respond to comments?

not usually - if the comment jumps out in some way or asks a question about podficcing i might, but i generally don't. i read every single one and hold them close to my heart, though.

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

LOL it's an open ending but the implications are pretty clear - 美丽的日子; beautiful days

7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

most of them end happy, except when they don't :)

8. do you get hate on fics?

not really. i did for a stint back in 2021 when that anon was going around but it was honestly very funny for me.

9. do you write smut?

sometimes.

10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you have written?

just the one time, not usually. it was a threadfic - a mdzs/tgcf crossover where wwx was raised by hualian instead of the jiangs.

11. have you ever had a fic stolen?

yeah. the good ole ctrl+f+replace of names. i remember they even stole my author's note. i'd said something to the effect of "i have to go study..." (i was in high school) and they added "which i didn't even end up doing..."

12. have you ever had a fic translated?

yes and i think fic translation is so cool!

13. have you ever co-written a fic before?

nope.

14. what's your all time favorite ship?

EVER?

pirates of the caribbean will/elizabeth.

but it's honestly a rotating rotisserie throughout life of my fav ships depending on what i'm hungry for at a given moment. it's 2024 and i'm back in ff7 hell, for instance.

15. what is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

歃血; blood oath, and it pains me deeply to admit. not because i have any measure of anxiety about returning to it, or feel any pressure, but because it genuinely had one of my favorite premises and setups, was super gory and horrific, and i'd packed in every crazy trope i love into the outline. i was really excited about. then the fandom imploded and i can't look at it anymore.

she's my white whale. i'd finish it for @megafaunatic alone.

16. what are your writing strengths?

atmosphere. payoff. saying things are like other things. i understand this is annoying for some people though, which is fair.

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

i put off every single sex scene in a fic until i had written everything else, such that i had to sit and write 10,000 words, spread across three scenes, of sex. worst week of my life.

internal logic, because i think it's so obvious in my head that i forget to explain it in words on the page.

i think i always can improve on character voice. that's an eternal work in progress.

18. thoughts of writing dialogue in another language in fics?

it's cool. probably good to consult a native speaker if writer of the fic doesn't speak it, though?

19. first fandom you wrote for?

christ. harry potter, by hand, in pencil, in an a5 notebook.

20. favorite fic you have written?

recency bias compels me to say by the time the apocalypse began, because i worked my ass and head off for it, and i ended up really happy with how it turned out. sci-fi's not really my wheelhouse.

i have a huge soft spot for my clj arranged marriage fic, 双命; twin fates, because i had such a blast writing it. and 总有一天; a place to hide (can’t find one near) will always be special to me, because it was like taking a huge, glittering, orgasmic shit.

OH DO I EVER. im gonna separate into two sections, one for asl one for general, bc there are so many of both in my bookmarks alone sjgkbdfh. coming back now after finishing the list & damn i need to reread these (<- read & bookmarked them in like. the past week or 2 at most SGFDGB)

anyway enjoy whichever of these u feel like trying!! i mostly just grabbed my favorites, and our taste most certainly varies somewhere. ASL-CENTRIC

overcoming an era: this has GOT to be the first one on any list. it starts with sabo and ace running into each other during the alabasta arc, and continues with the canon divergence from there. currently at 33/37 chapters and actively updating once a week

you are my sunshine: pre-canon oneshot, wherein luffy is an affectionate kid and ace copes with the idea of being loved. gave me all kinds of soft feelings, absolutely recommend

twin flames: complete fix-it where ace and sabo called themselves twins as children, leading to a hilarious (and ultimately life-saving) misunderstanding when an impel down guard overhears that but misses the part where they're not blood related

you'll be fine, i'll be fine: oneshot where luffy gets a back tattoo commemorating both his brothers during the timeskip. his crew have a lot of emotions about it (as does sabo)

put your faith in what you most believe in: oneshot, the straw hats call sabo when luffy gets sick, and the brothers have a conversation about freedom and priorities (weeping wailing sobbing btw. thumbsup)

together is much better: modern au oneshot, wherein ace and sabo readjust after two years apart while luffy wreaks havoc in the background (they are both unbearably fond of their menace)

you still have me: ageswap oneshot where luffy is the big brother. marinesford still happens, but this time the post-wano strawhat crew is ready to save their captain's little brother, and maybe also get it through his thick head that he deserves to be loved along the way

thoughts of you and me: oneshot, asl end up with a telepathic bond for a week, and ace is forced to face the fact that his brothers love him

thunder like cannonfire, lightning like being alive: oneshot, asl hanging out and being adorable kids during a summer thunderstorm

laugh about today: oneshot, just tiny asl hanging out and being fucking adorable

home is what you've missed: time travel oneshot, or: if ace had a nickel for every time one of his brothers woke him up by clinging to him and crying only to never explain or mention it again, he'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot, but what the fuck guys

dearest brother (who you are): 1/6 chapters (last updated 2021 but reads as a complete oneshot). sabo runs into ace, gets punched, gets his memories back, and they run wild through alabasta together- in that order

take a step in mine: oneshot, luffy collapses a little sooner at marinesford and ace prioritizes getting his brother to safety enough that he manages to also get himself safe along the way

there is thunder in our hearts complete, fix-it. ace and luffy both make it out of marinesford, and sabo finds them in the aftermath after recovering his memories

take me to sea (where i belong): first in a series. fifteen year-old sabo's first infiltration mission has him joining whitebeard's crew. he eventually finds a family there, which makes things interesting a few years down the line when a certain sibling also joins up

done in by the flame: reunion oneshot. ace is dead as far as the world (and therefore sabo) know, so sabo takes it rather poorly when he hears about someone using the flame fruit on their way to dressrosa

to know you again: oneshot. ace survives marinesford. sabo seeks him out in the aftermath, but there's not really any easy way to say "hey, sorry your captain slash dad is dead and also that you thought i was dead for ten years because i had amnesia, but i'm here to visit and check up on you now that i have my memories back"

predecessor dream: oneshot. when someone eats a devil fruit, they have a dream where they meet with the previous holder so that knowledge can be passed on. somehow, sabo doesn't really realize what that means for him and ace's fruit until it's happening

second star to the right (and straight on 'till morning): oneshot. luffy is turning twenty-one, older than ace ever got to be. he and usopp talk about it

it burns a hole through everyone: oneshot. luffy and sabo talk about ace, guilt, and love. this one in particular fucked me up so bad emotionally, i fucking love it

hey, get off my boat!: oneshot. an amnesiac sabo is returned to his parents instead of rescued by dragon. at seventeen, he escapes to steal a boat and leave for good- only to find a strangely familiar teen trying to steal the same boat

folding paper: oneshot. luffy is Something Else and lays claim to his favorite people, but his brothers don't mind. it's just nice to be cared about, regardless of what exactly their new little brother is

accidental (accidentally forgotten) younger brother acquisition: 13 chapters, currently on pause. while on a mission sabo runs into a nice kid who needs some help finding his older brother ace. seems easy enough.... except for the part where they're both now calling him their brother and getting weirdly emotional???

for freedom: oneshot. the announcement of fire fist ace's impending execution is enough to trigger sabo's memories, and he sets out with dragon to marinesford

deja vu: oneshot. the announcement of fire fist ace's impending execution is enough to trigger sabo's memories, and he sets out with koala to marinesford

OTHER

a different father: oneshot. buggy the clown finds out that his captain's son is about to be executed, and decides to help the only way he knows how- bullshitting his way into turning a bad situation into a very strange one

a tall tree, with roots like a newborn: oneshot. the aftermath of whole cake island, and healing sanji's wounds- both physical and mental

your love is sunlight: oneshot. luffy loves his crew with all his heart, and after a stranger makes a weird comment he decides to make sure his crew knows just how awesome they are and how much he appreciates them

you know what they say: oneshot + short sequel. the marines have a pr officer in charge of covering up their misdeeds. unfortunately for them, she was isekai'd in years ago and has been biding her time until marinesford to burn the whole organization to the ground- and if she saves & reunites a certain trio of brothers in the process, so much the better

the victory march: oneshot. sanji immediately post whole cake island, coping with the new understanding of deeply and fiercely his crew loves him

sukat sh'lomecha: oneshot. a very sweet usopp fic, wherein usopp tries to figure out what haki is, and sanji just wants to make sure his friends are okay and help them when they aren't

in which higuma doesn't get to get drunk, even though he really, really wants to: oneshot. in the scene where bandits harass the bar and shanks teaches luffy about not first resorting to violence, things go a little differently (read: off the fucking rails) when an older luffy is sent back in time to his younger self's body. spoilers are given, shanks pouts about being ignored by a six(?) year-old, and the bandits are having a rough day and would really like some fucking alcohol, please

sight, taste: oneshot. in the aftermath of the whole cake island arc, charlotte pudding and charlotte katakuri find unexpected solace in each other. it's technically not found family because they are blood related, but the charlotte family is so fucked up it might as well be

kiss me, son of god: first in a series of oneshots based on the live action. luffy, nami, zoro, and sanji are all vaguely qpr and kiss about it. the vibes are nebulous and soft and incredibly tender, possibly the very best kissing the homies fic i've ever read. they're all platonically in love with each other and tbh good for them

dressed up, dressed down: oneshot based on the live action. sanji and zoro get weirdly homoerotic about wound care, and more specifically about not overexerting yourself and reopening a still healing, nearly fatal wound from fighting fucking mihawk, zoro

Heart-Pirates Week 2021

Day 3: Penguin

That small blue bird which aggressively tried to held onto his hand with its surprisingly sharp claws wasn't supposed to be on this side of the Grand Line. Hell, it wasn't even supposed to be ON the Grand Line at all.

"Are you alone?", he asked the bird curiously and looked at his surrounding. To say that last night had been a bit too much was an understatement. Waking up in the backyard of some building somewhere on Sabaody, not knowing where he was and how he even got here...

The bird on his hand chirped. Looking at him with round black eyes.

Right, he woke up because of the piercing pain of someone's claws poking into his skin.

"Where's your partner?"

The bird ruffled its feathers in an attempt to look offended at the question.

"Guess you're alone then?"

He had never seen one of their kind alone. That little bird, also known as a Swallow Penguin, was the most loyal living being he knew. They mated once in their live and never took a new partner in case the first one died. They actually weren't able to survive without their chosen one and followed them shortly after.

The bird was native to his home island and his parents had owned a pair, the one of his grand-parents had even been able to say a few little words, just like parrots. Swallow Penguins were loyal and clever and due to their fascinating color also hunted. A lot of people wanted to make money with them, selling them as pets, but the birds soon learnt not to trust any humans at all and hid in the forest. Away from the potential hunters who wanted to make money with them.

Penguin hadn't seen one since the pair his parents had owned. That little guy wouldn't live long without a partner. That was clear and he already felt sad for it.

"Poor little guy", he said, trying to separate the bird from his hand, but it hold onto it for dear life. Confusing Penguin even more.

"You want to come with me?"

The bird chirped. Seeming to be very happy about his question. Well, considering the circumstances and where they were... He reached up to his head, where the bird let go of his hand and settled itself on his hat.

Returning to the Polar Tang, the first person he met on his way into the submarine, bird still on his head, was Clione, who was on watch duty.

"Mate, there is a bird on your head. A living one."

"I know."

"I don't think that cap would like a bird inside the ship..."

Penguin was about to argue that Bepo was also allowed inside the ship when the small bird suddenly let out a long warning chirp.

Clione looked at him stunned. "Is it... jealous?"

"Oh..."

"What oh?"

Now... That made sense, considering that there hadn't been a partner and he had hold onto Penguin like that. It wasn't that uncommon for the little birds to chose a human as a partner. It had happened from time to time on Swallow.

"I am his mate..."

"Sure...", there was a slightly worried look on his mate's face. "You aren't drunk, are you? Or high?"

There was a short pause between them. Penguin being too surprised that he had found an unmated swallow penguin that far away from its island and that it decided him worthy of being his partner for life.

"I hope the captain will like his new crew member."

"Ah, and what's its name?"

Penguin crossed his armes in front of him and thought about it. There were a lot of options to name that little penguin...

"Kogata."

Kogata seemed to like the name as he began to chirp happily again. He could feel the slight movement of the small bird on his head as it seemed to jump up and down in agreement.

Smiling about Kogata's reaction, he entered the Polar Tang.

Kogata comes from the Japanese term for ‘blue penguin‘ kogatapengin コガタペンギン. Funny enough, when I chose this name for the little bird, I wasn‘t aware that it translates to ‘blue penguin‘ in English, since I was looking for a translation of the German term for ‘Zwergpinguin‘ (dwarf penguin).

Writing : Heart to Heart / Alone Together

I kinda ended up using both of these again because they felt right.

Word count : 1.3K

Warnings : None

Law observed that counting till now, it was the 6th time. The cook avoided him. 'Did I do anything wrong?', a train of thoughts were running in his mind of all the possible scenarios of what ever he did. 'Does he... he knows about my crush... on him', he panicked. Anyway, he wanted to find out. No matter what, he wanted to know.

As Sanji was serving food, Law took the blond's hand and whispered, "What happened? Talk to me". Sanji blushed at his sudden contact and tried to break free from his grip. But he didn't let go. It wasn't a hurting one, it was instead a pleading and desperate one. This got the attention of the navigator and also the archaeologist.

 "SANJII I WANT MORE MEAT!!", Because of Luffy's demand, Law let go of Sanji and he took the chance to leave. After the chaotic Lunch, Law laid down on the deck with his hat covering his face from the sun rays. He sighed thinking how to make the cook talk to him.

"So, need help Mr. Doctor?", a voice made the raven haired man to remove his hat swiftly and look at who it was. Because of the sudden light of the sun, the doctor squinted his eyes to focus who was in front of him. There stood the two ladies of the ship. The orange head navigator sneaked beside him in a blink and looked at him with curious eyes. "Nee~~ Trafalgar, it seems like you want to talk to our chef, can I ask why? I saw you were trying to ask him something".

"Its nothing like that and none of your business actually", Law said as he leaned back trying to ignore them."Oh! is that so, then I'll ask Luffy to talk to Sanji about this", She said as she started to walk.

'Talk to Mugiwara-ya!?!?', he remembered all the plans and destructions because of his alliance with him. If his feelings or something personal like this... he doesn't want to take any chances.

"Wai...Wait", he said as he positioned himself again. Nami smirked as she came back and sat beside the doctor. Robin took the other side and two of them started to listen to the doctor.

Law sighed and said, "Its just that, I feel like he is avoiding me for some reason and... I... I really need to know the answer why he is not being his usual self around me so I asked him. That's it. Not a big deal" he ended hoping to lose their interest, but sadly, that wasn't the case yet.

"Why do you care so much if he avoids? Didn't you try to avoid some of us in the beginning?", questioned Robin making the man gulp.

"Yeah, we practically had to take awa- *Ahem*, I mean had to get close and be in your personal space", said Nami. 

The doctor knew they destroyed his personal space. But now he really wanted them to leave but they were so stubborn.

"Do you like Sanji?", questioned Robin. Because of the sudden confrontation he gasped but didn’t say anything.

"Eh!!! Really!?!", exclaimed the navigator.

"No wonder you want to talk to him", added Robin. He exhaled and asked, "Why do you two have to show this special interest in my personal life?"

"But we want to help. Robin and I had an idea which could get him to talk to you", hearing this the man looked curiously at the navigator.

She smirked and asked, "Do you want to know about it Tra~fal~gar~?"

He clicked his tongue as he looked away and said, "I...I would... appreciate it"

Nami smiled with victory and Robin giggled. He could only blush as the girls discussed about the plan. 

“Sanji is really stubborn. So to make him talk about something, won’t be done with simple and pleading ways. You need to get stubborn for that sake”, said Robin as Law seriously listened.

“So... to make him talk, we need to make sure you are alone together. We will make sure that to happen so just listen more carefully now”, Nami cleared her throat and continued to explain the plan which she and Robin had in their minds to the doctor.

At that time, a certain blond came out just after finishing his work in the kitchen. The trio on the deck caught his eye. He didn't knew what they were talking about but... if he was totally being honest with himself, he didn't like how the doctor was talking to the girls like that. He wasn't angry at the ladies. He was angry how... Law was talking to them but not... him.

A while after he made drinks for the ladies, he came out of the kitchen and gave it to the them as he swooned.

“Sanji kun, could you get us the new perfumes you brought for yourself on the previous island”, Nami asked and Sanji said, “Ofcourse Nami swan~~ I’ll get them for you~~” as he swayed away.

Sanji went to the boys room and as soon as he opened the door he was pulled inside. The door was shut now. Sanji’s back made contact with the door as two strong arms were placed beside his form. Law didnt look at Sanji yet.

“Wha.. What happened? Let me go!”, Sanji protested. 

“Did I do something? Please tell me why are you avoiding me”, Law asked as he looked up to face Sanji. The blond could see the hurt in the latter’s eyes.

“Nothing. Just let me go now. I need to give something to Nami san”, said Sanji but Law didn’t move. 

“You are talking about the perfumes right. If you wont tell me why you are avoiding me, I’ll just shamble them in the ocean”, Law seriously said making Sanji gasp.

“Don’t you dare. Nami san asked for it. I won’t hesitate to kill you if you do that”

“Like I said. I won’t do it, if you give me the answer. So tell me what I did and I’ll go”, Law said as he came a bit closer to the cook.

Sanji’s cheeks turned red at the sudden moment of Law. 

“Do you hate me that much to avoid me every time”, Sanji’s eyes widened. He didn’t hate Law. He didn’t knew his actions would hurt the doctor like this.

“No. No you idiot! I don’t. I feel weird around you. So i avoided you”, he answered making Law confused.

“Wait what?”, the raven questioned making the blond avert his gaze. Sanji knew Law wouldn’t leave him till he gets a proper reply. 

The cook exhaled and said, “Chopper checked me for any diseases but I’m totally healthy. But... I dont know why...My... my heart beats faster around you. I unintentionally get nervous even if you just look at me. My legs shiver when I serve you food making me always think whether you��d like it or not. Whenever you talk with the ladies I FREAKING GET PISSED AT YOU FOR NOT TALKING TO ME. BUT I DON”T HATE YOU!” 

Sanji inhaled after shouting. He was expecting a serious answer from Law but he was shocked when he heard him laugh. Law moved back as he placed one of his hand on his mouth and the other on his stomach. He continued to laugh. This made the cook embarrassed. 

“Why the hell are you laughing now HUH?!”, he walked towards the doctor and shook him by his collar.

In between his laugh, Law answered, “Its... Its just that.. I only wanted to have a heart to heart honest talk but... You confessed your feelings towards me, just now. Oh poor you, didn’t even knew you liked me. You thought you were sick. So cute!”, Law ended as he wiped a tear from the corner of his eye. 

Sanji blushed and kicked the doctor before he reached for the perfumes. Just when he was about to open the door, Law hugged him from behind and placed his hand on the latter’s. 

“Wait, I am sorry, I laughed. I really like you too. But the way you confessed, It was just that, you were too adorable, I couldn’t sto-”, he didn’t even complete his sentence because the Tsundare nature of the cook took a step ahead and the doctor was thrown away from him.

“*Ahem*, dont ever tell this to anyone.”, Sanji said as he opened the door. 

“So its a secret then. Okay, whatever you say babe”, Law said it only for Sanji to gasp in surprise, He didn’t expect him to say that.

“SHUT,,,SHUT UP BAKA”, Law laughed as Sanji shouted.

I hope you liked it. Sanji is definitely Tsundare. He would shout, blush get embarrassed very easily. Law would love these adorable actions of him... agh... I am falling in love with these two. Help.

Leaping off of some of our Artisanal Fandom Grandma/Fandom Spinster/Fandom Grumpy Old Person discussions from a couple of weeks ago, for your consideration: The Selfish Fic Summer Challenge.

Low-stakes, slow-paced, unrestrained summer fun for people who want to write fic at the speed of whatever works within their life right now. Write the thing for that show that ended a month ago that you’re still thinking about, even if it feels like the internet has moved on! Start crafting that 150k fix-it friends to lovers pwp amusement park employee AU where they’re also space pirates for that six-episode limited-run series that stole your heart back in October of 2021! Write one fic or 38, whatever feels best for you!

This is a loose challenge that will run from June to September, 2022. You can write whatever.

Heart Pirates Week Day 1 | Jean Bart | Protective

Had Shachi and Penguin attacked Bepo in ignorance of Minks? Awareness? Or because that was how you treated beasts? If they viewed Bepo as a beast. And what had a beast ever done to deserve cruelty?

Law freed marines from yokes by slicing heads away from their cravats and juggling craniums in a chaotic bubble of arms, trunks and legs. Master and servant rendered helpless for a spell. He cut the yoke from Jean Bart’s neck and recognised the human. As human as his beastly owners, the Celestial Dragons. As human as two boys kicking a bear in the snow

2022 Fic Recap

While I didn’t write as many words in 2022 as in 2021, I had some accomplishments that I’m proud of. First, I finished my tentpole fic, “Lead Me Back to Suffering.” I also wrote quite a few one-shots, participated in several events, and joined a couple of zines (though those fics didn’t make it onto my 2022 recap since they won’t appear until 2023). 

Overall, I wrote 95K+ words in 2022. Here is my year in writing review:

One-Shots

“Underneath the Shadow (of Mistakes I’ve Made)” (Gen | PG-13 | 4,307 words): The Heart Pirates are ambushed during a resupply run, and their captors use them as bait for their captain—the newest Warlord, Trafalgar Law.

“Misery Weightless as a Stone” (Dubcon DofLaw | Explicit | 4,100 words): Three months after Shachi lost his arm in the Colosseum, Doflamingo took Law to his bed for the first time.

“Among Our Enemies” (Gen | PG-13 | 5,658 words): In the city of Dressrosa, med student Trafalgar Law runs an underground clinic for the down and out. Monkey D. Luffy leads a group of self-styled vigilantes called the Straw Hats. Eustass Kid studies mechanical engineering by day and leads a biker gang by night. Their paths cross when a new drug called Smile hits the streets. Shenanigans ensue.

“Consequences” (Gen | PG-13 | 2,165 words): The night before Luffy and Law face Doflamingo, Luffy grapples with the sacrifices Law has made to protect his nakama from Doflamingo after saving him at Marineford.

“Coming Home (To Breathe Again, To Start Again)” (Lawlu | PG | 2,010 words): Law had a… complicated relationship with the concept of home.But here on the beach of Wano with Luffy looking at him with such fondness that Law wanted to squirm, he thought that maybe home could be another person.

“Floriography” (Gen | PG | 4,095 words): Five times Rosinante taught Law to communicate through the language of flowers, and one where Law turned the lesson on Rosinante.:

“Your Needs Answered” (Pre-Relationship Lawlu | PG | 2,276 words) To be fair, Law supposed, he had been warned. 

For Luffy, an alliance meant friendship. And for Luffy, friendship meant everything. Once Luffy, in his idiotic wisdom, had decided someone was his friend, he would do anything for them. He had taken one look at Law’s plans, thrown them away, and somehow still gotten to the core of what Law had wanted all along.

“I Want Your Laughter (Like The Flower I Was Waiting For)” (Lawlu | PG-13 | 3,213 words): Luffy notices Law doesn't smile or laugh much and decides to do something about it—and falls in love along the way.

“Memoriam” (Lawlu | PG | 1,250 words): “You do,” Luffy said after a quiet moment.

Torao blinked. “What?”

“Have something of Cora-san’s,” Luffy clarified. Torao frowned and opened his mouth to argue, but Luffy slipped his hand into Torao’s and pressed their linked hands to Torao’s bandaged chest. “Right here. His memory. His love.”

“Your Worth (More Than You Know)” (Lawlu | PG-13 | 2,720 words): When Law is taken prisoner by Hawkins, Drake doesn’t set Law free, leaving the Heart captain to be tortured. After Luffy gets out of Udon, he learns the truth and mounts a rescue.

Written for LawLu Week 2022. Day 4 Prompt: Injured

“Always See the Daylight” (Lawlu | PG | 2,391 words): “Why did you want to see my room?” Law asked, both curious and a bit apprehensive at what the response might be.

“Because it’s yours!” Luffy said immediately, sitting up quickly. Luffy looked as though the answer had been obvious.

For Law, however, that explained exactly nothing. “What—”

Luffy looked around, his expression softening in a way that made Law fidgety. “It’s very Torao,” he decided.

Written for LawLu Week 2022. Day 5 Prompt: Captain's quarters

“No Stranger to Crazy” (Lawlu | PG | 4,069 words): The Straw Hats arrive on an island to discover not only that the Hearts are already there, but there is also a winter festival happening. Law doesn’t have the best memories with winter islands or festivals, so Luffy is determined to make some good ones with him.

“Lead Me Back to Suffering” (Noncon Doflaw, Lawlu | R | 19/19 | 30,532 words written in 2022): In the wake of Kaido's fall, Law is kidnapped from the shores of Wano.

“Chained Hearts” (Eventual Dubcon Doflaw | PG-13 | 1/? | 3,910 words): When Law is 17, Doflamingo tracks him down in the North Blue and, threatening the lives of his crew, brings him back into the fold of the Donquixote Family. But the prodigal son's return is not an easy one, and allies are few and far between.

“Hearts With(out) Chains” (Dubcon Doflaw, Eventual Lawlu | PG-13 | 23/? | 10,586 words written in 2022):  Law is reclaimed by the Family when he's 17 and, with Doflamingo holding the lives of his crew as collateral for his good behavior, eventually becomes the third Corazon. Years later, trapped by his impossible situation, Law finds a strange connection to Monkey D. Luffy, which offers a glimpse of something he's repeatedly had ripped away from him: hope.

“(I Made My Mind) A Sunless Space” (Dubcon Doflaw, Eventual Lawlu | R | 4/? | 12,038 words): In another life, Minion Island goes a bit differently: a gravely wounded Corazon is recovered by the Marines while Law is taken back into the Family. Years later, Rosinante teams up with Monkey D. Luffy to rescue Law from the clutches of his brother and set him free for good.

One New Year

a/n: this was originally posted on my ig fan account on 31 dec 2020/ 1st Jan 2021. so this was from a very long time ago. I haven't written fics in a while and I thought i should repost this. this might not be a good fic since its was my first but it's a story that i hold dear to my heart. Anyways Happy New Year!

The carnival was flooded with laughter. Children and adults alike running around enjoying the rides and magic shows. Performers took the center stage, showcasing a work of art as the audience stared in awe. The sky was a beautiful shade of orange as the sun was setting. The carnival staff were getting ready to set up the lights for the night.

“Y/n wait up!” Doyeon’s voice echoed as she ran up to y/n. Jiwon & Doyeon had convinced Y/n to go to the New Year’s Carnival near their dorm. Y/n was known to be a studious homebody and her friends wanted to show her around the town during their college winter break. Fortunately, there was a carnival setup right next to their dorm and it didn’t take too much convincing to get her out of their dorm. 

New Year’s Eve. The day before a new beginning. There was going to be a light show of fireworks at midnight and everyone was thrilled to celebrate this day with their friends and family. Likewise, Y/n was excited to celebrate this day with Doyeon & Jiwon.

"Lino hyung, why don't we go out today?" jisung was cautiously looking over at Minho who was mindlessly scrolling through his phone. 

The air in the dorm grew heavier each second he was silent. The boys had been trying to get him out of their house. even his cats were bugging him, trying to get him to move.

He just didn't.

He had been having dreams, no, nightmares of his ex. He didn't understand why. After all, it had been 3 years since they last saw each other. The picture of the mountain edge haunted his memories. He stayed awake to avoid that dream and lazed around the whole day due to exhaustion. The boys were increasingly worried for him. 

Dori, his youngest cat, sat on Lino’s lap. Jeongin took this opportunity to say “Hyung! Dori wants to bring you to the New Year Carnival!” The older boys stared at their youngest, except for Minho, who kept his eyes on his cat. 

Dori started to nod. It gestured to Jeongin and nodded. He smiled. That was probably the first time in the longest they’d seen him smile. He quietly asked, “Dori do you want me to go to the carnival?” To which the cat nodded. 

“Jeongin-ah, you should have used that technique earlier” Hyunjin laughed, finally feeling relieved to see his older friend smile.

“Omg, i’m going to feel sick!” Jiwon wobbled out of the pirate boat ride while Doyeon and Y/n were laughing behind. “Wow, i’ve really missed out on a lot of fun stuff studying huh?” Doyeon and Jiwon were still in disbelief that this was Y/n ‘s first ever carnival but they were relieved to hear that this definitely won’t be her last. 

The sun had set and the sky was dark. The trio were excited to see the firework showcase that was about to happen in a few hours. They walked about, getting on the rides and eating snacks prepared by the vendors. They were ready to welcome the New Year and all that it had in store for them.

“Boys, remember to wear your masks and caps. The last thing we need is to get swamped at a carnival,” Chan adjusted his cap as he looked over at Minho who was holding his dear cat. “I still can’t believe yall convinced me to bring Dori along!” The boys laughed. It had been weeks since they were all out together. 

“Woah! The lights are so pretty!” Felix and Jisung ran ahead of the rest and stared at the carnival entrance in awe of the light decorations. Minho let Dori walk and told the boys he was going to just follow the cat around. Seungmin kept an eye on him as he walked around with Jeongin. The boys split up in pairs or trios (and in Minho’s case, solo with a cat). They knew that it would be a lot easier for fans to recognize them if they were walking around as a group so splitting up was a good idea.

“Omg! Look! They are selling cotton candy there!” Jiwon ran up to the Cotton Candy stall. They all bought a cotton candy each. “I don’t even remember the last time i had this!” The girls were ecstatic over their childhood favourite candy. A few hours had passed since they arrived at the carnival. Everyone was waiting for the countdown for the fireworks.

Dori was running around, excited. ‘So you really did want to come here,’ Minho laughed to himself. He felt some sense of relief. It didn’t take long for him to forget that cruel dream he had been having. He was looking around at the decorations around him while trying not to lose sight of his cat. 

Dori was bumping into people and Minho kept apologizing while running behind the small young cat with high energy. At this point, the cat was sprinting and Minho was struggling to keep up. Little did he know, Dori was just following the sound of a voice it remembered.

The girls were chatting as Dori ran up and bumped into Y/n’s feet. Doyeon squealed, “It’s so cute!” Doyeon sat down to pet it, not noticing the look on Y/n’s face. Jiwon noticed it. “Is everything ok?” 

“Yeah, it’s just that this cat looks like…”

“Y/n?”

The girls and Dori turned around at the sound of Y/N’s name. Minho. Doyeon and Jiwon just stared at Y/n and Minho who were looking at each other in shock. 3 years. They weren’t together for a long time but they did love each other a lot. They both had broken up on mutual terms. He wanted to focus on work and she wanted to focus on her further studies. 

Seungmin and Jeongin started to panic and spammed the older boys about what they had just witnessed. Minho had only told Changbin about his nightmare but of course Changbin explained the situation to the boys so that they could understand him. They weren’t sure about what was about to happen but they knew for sure that seeing her would make him remember his horrid dream. 

“Minho?”

Seeing her made him anxious. He knew that the dream was stupid but he couldn’t stop worrying. He cared about her more than he wanted to. After all, they did break up. Y/n noticed the anxious look on his eyes and took a step forward. But then she stopped, after seeing him take a step back. As Doyeon got up, Seungmin and Jeongin walked up to them. 

“Please keep this a secret,” Jeongin hoped that Y/n’s friends weren’t the type to gossip or spread stuff. The last thing needed was dispatch being all up on Stray Kids lives again.

The rest of the boys ran up to the place where Y/n and Minho were. They tried to keep their distance but they couldn’t help but want to watch, even if it’s from afar. Minho tried to control his emotions but failed. He cried at the sight of her, wearing the same dress as their last day. The same one that haunted his dreams. Everything he had tried so hard to suppress was resurfacing back into his memories. 

The sight of Minho crying shook Y/n. She ran up to him and hugged him. She didn’t know about his nightmare but she knew something was wrong. Unbeknownst to Y/n, she started crying too. 

Doyeon, Jiwon and the rest of Stray Kids were shocked by what was unfolding in front of their eyes. The girls weren’t close to Y/n while she dated Minho and the boys had no idea they still loved each other. 

Minho had explained his dream to Y/n and the boys explained about Minho and Y/n’s past relationship to Doyeon and Jiwon. They all had left the carnival and were standing in the car park nearby. Many were gathered at the carnival and they all felt as though they were attracting too much attention. They all stayed to watch the fireworks. Minho was finally feeling relieved after spending weeks suffering from his nightmare. Minho and Y/n weren’t sure as to what was about to happen next, but at least they were by each other’s side now.

3 Series I’m Currently Obsessed With

These past couple of weeks I’ve been escaping reality in some top-tier series. Whether it’s a queer historical or a hilarious superhero show, all that matters is that I can sit back, relax, and laugh like crazy. Bonus points if it can manage to make me cry as well. Here’s my three latest TV show obsessions!

1. Dickinson (2019-2021)

I’ve only heard about this show when I started watching Hawkeye last year and fell in love with Hailee Steinfeld’s performance (and general existence, really). Finally, I watched the first season as I was reading an Emily Dickinson poetry collection and it made me experience all of the emotions! Honestly, I had expected to be queerbaited by this but I didn’t. It is a gorgeous series that explores sexuality, death, and being a female poet in the 19th century, honestly it’s everything I could have asked for in a series and I’m eager to continue the next two seasons! 

2. Peacemaker (2021-)

Admittedly, I despised Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad (2021). This series, however, completely changed my perception of him and it got me hooked! Keeping the type of humor that I loved so much in the movie but creating much more in-depth bonds between characters (as is easier in a series), this show had me in a chokehold the entire time, either from laughter or suspense. The storytelling was done surprisingly well and I was obsessed with the characters, especially Vigilante and Leota Adebayo. Can’t stop thinking about this and I’m more than excited for season two! 

3. Our Flag Means Death (2022)

Last but certainly not least: the show that stole my heart and tears. This is the type of show I not only wanted, but I needed it. It was a perfect blend of light-hearted and dramatic and every actor killed their role. The representation (plenty of gay characters & relationships as well as a non-binary character) was just amazing and a massive win for queer storytelling. This one deserves a second season very badly so I hope that with all the hype it has been getting, that sequel is bound to happen. Queer pirates and amazing beards, what else is needed?
