Hot Chicks and Heavy Metal mit Steel Panther

Während politische Korrektheit den letzten Tropfen Spass aus der Populärkultur würgt und quetscht, rammen vier Männer gewagt ihre Flagge, und die ein oder andere Gliedmasse, in den Erdboden und das alles im Namen des Heavy Metal. Steel Panther –  das sind Michael (lead vocals), Satchel (lead guitar), Lexxi Foxx (bass) und Stix Zadinia (drums) – haben gewiss seit ihren Anfängen im Jahr 2000 die Flagge für die heilige Dreifaltigkeit von Sex, Drugs und Heavy Metal gehisst. Aber mit ihrem fünften Album mit dem überaus passenden Titel „Heavy Metal Rules“ erfüllen sie diese Mission zu ihrem vollsten Potenzial. Die Solos sind kreischender, die Leggings noch enger und der Lidstrich sitzt wie eh und je.

Sie teilen sich Bühnen mit Aerosmith, Alter Bridge und Stone Sour, haben wahrscheinlich Aktien beim Hersteller von Aquanet-Haarspray und bringen tausende Frauen dazu an Festivals und an ihren Headlineshows blankzuziehen. Die energiegeladenen, haarsprayvernebelten Shows von Steel Panther waren lange ein Geheimtipp in Hollywood und Las Vegas, doch als dann das erste Album «Feel The Steel» einschlug wie eine Bombe, kam nach und nach die ganze Welt in den Genuss dieser Sunset Strip Legenden.

Wer die 80er liebt, Mötley Crüe schmerzlich vermisst und sich nicht an den dramatisch hochgeschraubten Brüsten der Groupies in der ersten Reihe stört – der gehört am Samstag, 1. Februar 2020 in den Komplex 457 in Zürich. Denn dann machen Steel Panther mit ihrer «Heavy Metal Rules Tour» auch Halt in der Schweiz.

Willkommen bei [PIAS]! Die französische Singer-Songwriterin Marina Kaye veröffentlicht mit “Twisted” ihre erste Single über [PIAS] Recordings und gleichzeitig ein mitreißendes Video. 

Die erst einundzwanzig Jahre junge Musikerin hat mit ihrem Debütalbum “Fearless” bereits doppelt Platinstatus in Frankreich erreicht, Weltstars wie Thirty Seconds To Mars und Lindsey Sterling supportet und über hundert Headlineshows gespielt - das meiste davon als sie noch ein Teenager war. 

Der Song “Twisted” ist gerade für ihre persönliche Entwicklung immens wichtig, wie sie erklärt: “Twisted is an extremely deep and personal song for me. I��ve always felt like there was something a bit weird about me. I feel like I have some twisted thoughts in my mind, but that’s no bad thing. In fact I’m proud of it now because it makes me who I am.“

Trotz ihres früh erkannten Talents, dachte Marina lange nicht, dass sie die Musik zu ihrem Beruf machen würde: “I never really thought I would be making music professionally. I’ve been singing since I was very young to heal myself and soon realised I could heal other people’s wounds with my music. Writing and singing have kept me going for the past 10 years and today, I feel stronger than ever about my decisions and the way I want to make music. This is what I was born to do.“

Aus all diesen frühen Erfahrungen, den Fehlern und den verschiedensten Einflüssen, zieht Marina Energie für ihr neues Album. Sie ist erwachsen und nimmt die Dinge selber in die Hand. Das Video zu “Twisted” greift das gestiegene Selbstbewusstsein und die Selbstermächtigung Marina Kayes auf. Konkret bezieht es sich auf eine Erfahrung, die sie mit einem Psychiater gemacht hat: “The guy didn’t believe a word I told him and looked at me like I was a freak. I wanted to use this experience, and turn the tables for this music video”.
