what type of villain are you? ... — Muse: Relta || V: Phoenix Queen
The Betrayer
You like to do things up close and personal. As personal as you can get. You are an excellent actor, and you do adore putting on a smile knowing your worst enemy, the one you hate the most, doesn't suspect a thing when they tell you their deepest secrets. Your only motivation is revenge, and revenge you shall get. Perhaps you loved them once, long ago, but any fondness for your target you once felt has long since warped and twisted into perverse obsession, laced with malice and venom and seething hatred. Good or evil does not matter to you. All that matters is they get what they deserve

7 and 8 for the weirdly specific questions meme!
@gerudospiriit // weirdly specific questions meme! -> Muse: Relta
What would you (mun) yell in the middle of a crowd to find them? What would their best friend and/or romantic partner yell? Mun: “HEY RELS” SO/BFF: “DOCTORS SUCK!”
How loose is their use of the phrase ‘I love you’? Not loose at all! Relta says it to her family, be it blood or found family, but otherwise? She waits to say it in relationships to genuinely feel romantic love for the person.

Relta
Genuinely not sure. Like at his sluttiest, pre-religious conversion Jio would be fine being a side piece. Would also respect her as a negotiator. As someone who's into Irish History/Celtic Myth/literature maybe I could come up with some sort of pseudo-Celtic verse or something. He'd probably just end up becoming a softer version of St. Patrick tho.
Aislin
I mean I generally headcanon Jio as dying young? I'm not sure outside that.
Alastair
They're both flirts so they have that going for them. I know you have a Robin Hood verse so maybe we can work with that.

would people fall in love with you?
♡
here's your answer: yes, they would. i know you find it hard to believe, but trust me this time. I'm sorry if something or someone in your life made you believe that you're unlovable; god, you're so far from that. despite everything, your heart is tender- a little scarred, yeah, but ready to be stitched up with some care and affection. please remember that your past mistakes don't define you, and nothing, nothing will ever make you unworthy of being loved. you remind me so much of a puppy, a little clumsy and a little uncoordinated, but so precious and tiny. or perhaps- a walnut? hard on the outside, soft on the inside. anyone would be lucky to be with you.

Hello dears. I’m sorry for being quiet for quite a while, but I would like to discuss a topic related to SU, which I believe is important.
argument I learned today that @laurenzuke, one of the talented animators and storyborders on SU, is quitting, and the upcoming episode might be her last. Zuke didn’t elaborate on the reason of her quitting (and I don’t expact her to), and I do wish it’s due to some happy, not-SU-related reasons, there’s a big probability it’s related to fans bullying Zuke. Now, I know most of you probebly know the story, but I would summarize it just on case. I would like to state first that the whole deal happend before I became a SU fanatic, so I’ll tell it to the best of my knowledge, but do feel free to correct me: Zuke had a very open and responsive Twitter account. She used to post things reltaed to the show, talk with the fans and even joke about fandom-related topics - She did it all for the fans. Things took a turn for the worst near the release of the episode “Beta” - apparently Zuke ever-so-slightly implied she prefer the ship LapiDot, because of drawings she posted, that hinted said assumption. The AmeDot shippers lost their shit over Zuke showing these hints, and accused her, a person from the LGBT community, of “ gaybaiting”. Now, I’m not that sure what it means, but from what I could gather it’s “ to fruition, in others it’s bringing up a character’s sexual orientation to encourage homophobic attacks against them”. Anyway, a group of AmeDot fans started attacking Zuke quite brutally. I’m not sure of the extant of the attack, but it probably involved swearing, personal insults, and even threats. At the end, Zuke’s social-internet life turn to hell, and resulted in Zuke shutting-down her Twitter, stating she doesn’t deserve this, and that when we’re writing a comment, we should always remember there’s a human-being on the other side. As far as I know, certian fans continued to harass Zuke at her professional blog on Tumblr. asaide for the assult on Zuke, apparently some fans tanded to attack other crew members as well, because they refused to comment on fans headcanons, or because the show went on a different direction from the fan’s wishes. Even among the fans there were many argument - there were (and are) stories of group of fans assaulting one fan, simply because they said or drew something that group didn’t like (most known story is the rumor of one artist attampting suicide because she received brutal shaming over drawing Rose skinny). unfortunately, the end of this story is sad - Zuke leaving the SU crew, a place she herself said she truly enjoyed working at, because of a little mean group of toxic fans. Beside the obviouse absurd of fans, especially of such a peace-loving show, haunting a crew-member who had a big part of making the show they like so much, just because the didn’t agree with her (hinted) opinion of certian things on the show, I believe we can see here, unfortunately, a great example of the harms of cyber-bullying. So, dear friends, here’s a reminder - when conversing online, no matter how much you’re angry on the other person, always keep the conversation polite and don’t go personal. If the other is being mean to you - just step away from that conversation, Do not encourage or support shaming, because unless that person committed some hideous crime (and there’re solid evidence against them) - No one deserve this. No one. Always be the better person, no matter how hard it is. For those of you who’re interested - Zuke’s teaser for the up-coming episode, where she announced her quitting. If you’d take a look at the comments, you can spot some swearing and insults: http://laurenzuke.tumblr.com/post/158168784219/heres-my-first-and-probably-last-promo-or-close Zuke, if you’re reading this for some reason, I’m sorry you turned into a cautionary tale. Thank you so much for the hard work you’ve done. I hope I’d see your work around real soon.

The Phoenix Queen — Historical & Mythological Influences on Lunaruz & Queen Relta [Part I]
Relta is heavily inspired by both Queen Mary I of England & Ireland and her half-sister, Queen Elizabeth I of England & Ireland — along with Eleanor of Aquitaine.
A quote by Queen Mary I of England & Ireland greatly inspires Relta’s outlook on her dynamic with Lunaruz. Essentially, she views herself as married to her kingdom and “mother” to her people. The quote can be found [here]
Relta’s unmarried status and refusal to marry was inspired by Queen Elizabeth I of England & Ireland, along with seeing her parents’ marriage fail and her father gaining the throne, despite her mother having been the heir to Relta’s maternal grandparents who ruled Lunaruz approximately one-hundred and fifty years before Relta’s own reign began.
Relta’s artistic talents are inspired by a young Queen Mary I of England and Ireland, as she was: a known polyglot; skilled dancer; skilled musician; and decent politician.
Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine’s influence on Relta’s Phoenix Queen verse include: (1) she rules a duchy in her own right in otherwise unclaimed territory near Lunaruz, aside from being heir to the throne of Lunaruz; (2) she ruled Lunaruz as regent during her father’s last ten years of reign; (3) Relta ruled in her own right without a spouse, though she did have lovers.
The myth of [Atalanta] partially inspires Relta’s determination for being an independent ruler, along with Queen Elizabeth I’s insistence upon being “The Virgin Queen”. She doesn’t want to be ruled by a man, having suffered a bit under her father’s reign’s later years as he’d become more…misogynistic admittedly, even toward Relta and her younger half-sister, Aislin.
Like Queen Elizabeth I, Relta’s claim to be an unwed queen was questioned. She was believed to have married one of her lovers in secret, like Queen Consort Elizabeth Woodville and King Edward IV had before their official wedding. It was untrue, as Relta would never risk being tied to a male consort who could usurp her. However, she exchanged non-binding, and platonic, vows with one of her close friends as to ensure the woman was protected in court despite not gaining power from the vows.
Relta’s fears of losing lovers also stemmed from many myths she learned in childhood, along with seeing her parents’ “divorce” at a young age. It influenced her avoiding “falling in love” and acting on it in an official, legal way.
Relta also related to Mary, Queen of Scots, in being the sole heir, and a woman, with her mother supposedly having neared the age in which women stopped bearing children when Relta was born. Relta’s half-sister, Aislin, is not a legitimate heir despite Relta declaring Aislin’s eventual children in line for the throne.
Unknown to Relta, her father had a number of illegitimate children, including a son who he tried marrying to Relta to give the son legitimacy. Fortunately, Relta saw the resemblance and cornered her father on the topic and sent her illegitimate half-brother packing in shame. King Henry VIII had tried the same with one of his bastards and Princess Mary (future Queen Mary I).
Relta is, surprisingly, fond of children and very maternal - similarly to Queen Mary I. She often dotted on her ladies-in-waitings’ children, spoiling the children of those close to her. She secretly wished to be a mother herself, but the implications of a father would have undermined her sole claim to the throne.
Relta also had a fear of dying in childbirth, as Queen Consort Elizabeth of York with her final child by King Henry VII did, and considered adoption, yet feared a conspiracy against her to put an enemy’s child on the throne after her, or claiming she was secretly the mother.
Relta studied the queen consorts who came before her, not only in Lunaruz but in similar (culturally) nations/kingdoms, and was slightly paranoid she would die and be replaced like many other queen consorts had been.

The Phoenix Queen — Everyday Magic in Lunaruz [Part I]
In Lunaruz, all of the people are blessed with minor, magical gifts that help in everyday life. For example: healing minor wounds, sewing without thread or needle, and being able to spark a small fire for cooking by snapping one’s fingers.
Lunaruzians tend to live with others who have complimentary powers to their own, in order to create successful communities and even simply families.
Class status is of no importance in Lunaruz, and powers do not impact class status anyway. They only impact culture, as it blends like a melting pot based on powers.
Children often do not get the same powers as their parents, the royal line being the only exception due to having blood of specific deities (Lord Ares and Queen Macha).
Marrying someone with the same power as you isn’t frowned upon, but is highly uncommon.
Lunaruz is believed to be blessed by multiple deities, thus even immigrants’ children having minor magical powers.
The reigning monarch holds a festival every Autumn Equinox to celebrate the gifts given to the kingdom. It is basically a showing off of powers / a Ren Faire with real magic.
People with certain powers are given the option to go to the castle and work there with their powers, yet still go home to their families at day’s end. Examples of such powers are rapid cooking, healing-centric gifts, and communication with animals.

The Phoenix Queen — A Utopia under The Phoenix Queen? [Part I]
A major question that came up post-Relta’s resignation as The Phoenix Queen was “did Lunaruz become a utopia under Queen Relta’s reign?” Due to her impact on not only Lunaruz, but their allied countries as well. The answer, overall, is no, as far as Dowager Queen Relta views it, for there can always be improvement in a nation, and evolution of cultures. However, some points can be made by “historians” looking at Lunaruz’s history (if any was actually preserved after its disappearance) that indicate it was close to being utopian for the majority of its people.
Lunaruz achieved full gender equality, including for non-binary and transgender folks, under Relta’s reign.
AFAB monarchs no longer had to take an AMAB lover/king consort to co-rule with, and that is on the books. AMAB monarchs had the same privilege. The only rule was that they have a blood relative as an heir, or an adoptive child as an heir.
Infant and maternal mortality rates dropped to 0%
Lunaruz never encountered the plague or other widespread illnesses of the medieval era.
Lunaruz only engaged in one war, lasting five years on and off, during Relta’s reign.
Lunaruz built alliances with almost all the nearby and even farther away countries/nations/principalities they wished to, and had a very prosperous trade system.
There were no classes or caste systems left by the end of Relta’s reign, and anyone could apply for apprenticeships to gain knowledge for the occupation they desires. The only class left was the monarchy, which Relta depleted of much of its power and gave it to the Council of Lunaruz (comprised of people from all walks of life in Lunaruz).
All Lunaruzians, including immigrants and refugees, made living wages. This included disabled folks as well, for the royalty/aristocracy paid a tax to help those who weren’t born into the monarchy.
Soldiers could serve by choice, and the draft system was abolished BEFORE the war with (former) King Theodore. All those who served under Monarch Relta during that war did so by choice, and were heavily compensated after the end of the war. The casualty rate for the war, for Lunaruz at least, was nearly 0% except for those taken by illness or magical curses that Relta couldn’t break.
Trade with allied countries and neutral territories alike became extremely prosperous for all involved, with Relta overseeing the negotiations herself as part of her studies as a youth/pre-coronation included economics.
Lunaruz became the primary kingdom for refugees and immigrants from other countries to go to, even if temporarily, as Lunaruz did not get involved in any foreign wars, including monetarily. Refugees from all nations were welcomed and given homes and a salary until they could get on their feet.
Art had a renaissance of sorts under Relta’s reign, with her being a patron of the arts with her personal funds. Music, theatre, and art mediums such as sculpture and paintings flourished during her reign. She commissioned very few pieces of herself, but rather did ones of previous monarchs and deities worshiped in Lunaruz.
All religions were at peace with each other, with missionaries being banned from Lunaruz as conversion was meant to be one’s choice without the beliefs being shoved down their throats.
Women gained a significant amount of more rights under Relta’s reign, including the right to raise a child alone and get child support. Divorce was also legalized, with either party allowed to bring the case to court to determine the division of resources the couple/polyamorous relationship had and the determination of how the children would be potentially raised.
The death penalty was abolished, with reformation and reintroduction to society being the goal. The only ones who remained imprisoned for long term sentences were those who committed truly heinous crimes.
The jury system was “perfected”, genuinely having peers of the accused being in the jury. Along with that, representation of both parties involved was done by royal lawyers — aka the top of their game lawyers, for no fee. Relta used her personal funds for court cases, and compensated jurors for their time away from their families and jobs (if they worked).
Marriage being required prior to childbirth was abolished, as was the concept of “bastards”. No one was shamed for their biological parents’ relationship, and no parents were shamed for a child conceived or born out of wedlock.
Adoption rates, though the need to be adopted was rare, were high compared to the number of children needing to be adopted.
The average lifespan for a mortal living in Lunaruz was 85 years as a low age. Those with divine blood lived even longer on average, all maintaining their cognitive functions and not having their bodies decay on them. Old age was nearly the only cause of death in Lunaruz.
Agriculture and infrastructure flourished.
Refugees and immigrants could easily obtain Lunaruzian citizenship and protections, as long as they swore to abide by the Lunaruzian laws and customs. They could retain their own cultures and religions.

The Phoenix Queen — The Disappearance of Lunaruz
Lunaruz has been lost to the history books, despite being a prominent kingdom in medieval times. It seems to have disappeared altogether, akin to Atlantis, sometime in the late 1600s / early 1700s at the latest. It was even removed from maps in by 1750, as if it has never existed at all or had sunken down to the bottom of the ocean.
In truth, one of Queen Relta’s descendants decided to hide Lunaruz away from the world to avoid it being entangled in the globalization that was already occurring. They sought to maintain their utopian-esque society by doing this. They used their powers to erase Lunaruz from history as well, to the best of their abilities. The only remains were art pieces traded in older times, and no one could track the art back to an unknown civilization, resulting in Lunaruz getting a reputation similar to Atlantis.
Lunaruz never engaged in the Atlantic Slave Trade, or slavery in general, despite being heavily involved in trade prior to its “disappearance”. They opposed it heavily, causing some of their alliances to collapse prior to their “disappearance”.
Now, Lunaruz remains a mystical, magical, utopian society separated from the rest of the world. They’ve reached self-sufficiency regarding agriculture, politics, etc, so they’re able to survive without connections to the outside world.

The Phoenix Queen — The Kingdom’s ( Lunaruz’s) Alliances and Adversaries [Part I]
CW: War; Misogyny; Anti-Magic; Religious Conflicts; Arranged Marriages;
Breca Kingdom: During Relta’s early years during her reign, and even the five years before that, the greatest adversary to Lunaruz was King Theodore Ariti’s kingdom. He ruled the Breca Empire, located to the southeast of Lunaruz’s ally, the snowy kingdom of Aesavetrva (similar to Queen Catherine the Great’s Russian Empire). The eternal winter of Aesavetrva helps hinder King Theodore’s attempts to attack Lunaruz. The conflict between Lunaruz and Breca is only because of Relta rejecting King Theodore’s proposal when she was still only crown princess. Aesavetrva aided the Lunaruzians by having their navy cut off supply lines to the Brecan Kingdom. After the war, King Theodore was exiled from the kingdom and a new ruler took his place — the man who’d come to be known as King Sigeweard Broadbente the Great. He ended up marrying a cousin of Relta’s, making tensions between the two kingdoms lessen significantly. Monarch(s) of Relevance: King Theodore the Unjust; King Sigeweard the Great
Aesavetrva Empire: Akin to an Enlightenment Era Russia (which was circa 1700s & 1800s, so later than when Relta’s reign would have been set), ruled by a council of kings. Their kingdom was said to be cursed by Marzanna (an actual Slavic goddess of winter) to eternally be covered in snow. They still have four seasons, however it ranges from mildly cold to deathly cold. They’re considered an empire due to the sheer size of the snowy culture. The council of kings is a nod to the original, indigenous peoples’ way of moderating. The youngest king, and arguably the wisest, is named Alaric Foxe and was one of younger Princess Relta’s suitors. She rejected him only due to the fact their kingdoms already had a very strong alliance, and ideally she’d marry to create a new alliance. The Aesavetrvan kings understood the reasoning, and a marriage was actually set up between King Alaric Foxe and one of Relta’s ladies-in-waiting (a high ranking aristocrat), as they were a secret love match. Monarch(s) of Relevance: King Alaric Foxe
The Vaultlands: Ask @ofheroesandscholars about this! They’re an ally to Lunaruz, possibly their oldest aside from the early Aesavetrvan Empire. One of Relta’s lovers hails from there, in fact it is the King of the Vaultlands — King James . They are one of the few other magical and polytheistic cultures during the era of Relta’s reign. Monarch(s) of Relevance: King James
Vuria Dynasty: Akin to Tudor England, and arguably the most like Lunaruz culturally and linguistically, they are an on and off ally of Lunaruz historically. During Relta’s reign, she sought out to solidify their alliance via a trade agreement and a marriage of the Queen’s eldest daughter, once she bore children, to Relta’s half-sister’s eldest child (with her half-sister’s consent of course). The alliance grew strong under Relta’s reign, and her nephew happened to be a love match for the Queen’s eldest daughter. The dynasty is a matriarchy, and has been since ancient times. During a battle for the throne due to the Queen not yet having a daughter when she was “up in years”, the Lunaruzians came to her army’s aid, sending supplies, troops, and their prolific navy. Arguably, they are the second strongest ally to Lunaruz due after this military event, the Vaultlands being the strongest. Monarch(s) of Relevance: Queen Ivette Lindone, known as the Sea Queen.
Zunucian Dynasty: Akin to medieval Ireland mixed with Scandinavia during the age of the Vikings, the land is ruled by the kindhearted, widowed, Queen Aignéis Ó Seanáini. She is serving as regent until her son, Crown Prince Fearghas is old enough to be wed and take the throne at twenty-one. Due to their similarities culturally to Lunaruz, they get on well and have a strong trading system set up. Zunacia’s main exports are timber, weapons, and skins/hides for clothing. Queen Aignéis and Crown Princess/Queen Relta are also good friends from childhood, having seen each other in court as youths due to the proximity of the kingdoms, with Aignéis being like an older sister to the younger princess. Monarch(s) of Relevance: Queen Aignéis Ó Seanáini; Crown Prince Fearghas; the late King Ciaran the Wise.
Kiuvgon Empire: Akin to the principalities of Italy during medieval times, the Kiuvgon Empire is an on-off ally to Lunaruz as well, mainly an ally historically. However, once monotheism took over the empire, they began having clashes with the primarily polytheistic Lunaruz. Lunaruz practices freedom of religion and separation of religion(s) and state, which angered the current king of the Kiuvgon Empire. They have yet to go to war, but it could occur if things escalate over the decades. Monarch(s) of Relevance: King Philandrus Ovicula
Ovocan Empire: A burgeoning empire that historically has clashed with the Lunaruzians, due to their staunch stance against both polytheism and female rulers, they were allied with Breca’s King Theodore during the wars with Lunaruz. Lunaruz has suppressed all of their uprisings historically due to having a superior military, however Relta sent her top emissaries to discuss an alliance with them or at least a truce after the wars ended. Her emissaries were successful under her guidance, yet there is still tension between the two kingdoms. Monarch(s) of Relevance: Emperor Emmerich Braleye
Kingdom of France: A magical segment of the actual France, the Kingdom of France is a strong ally to Lunaruz. Relta’s half-sister even married the Crown Prince out of love, solidifying the alliance that had existed. Monarch(s) of Relevance: King Adam, Queen Belle, Crown Prince Benjamin.

V: The Phoenix Queen — Relta’s Reign [Worldbuildng Part II]
The following contains some events and legal changes that occurred under Queen Relta’s reign.
Arranged marriages were abolished in the third year of Relta’s reign
Relta’s spouse, in sub-verses where she has one, is not the king/monarch of Lunaura. They serve as a councilor and ambassador, but do not have equal footing to Relta. In return, she does not have the same power as her spouse in their kingdom.
Trade with the kingdom that once belonged to King Theodore flourished after Relta won what is known as the “Lunarian War” in the first three years of her reign. They are now a great ally to Lunauz, with their new king’s heir, a young woman, serving as an ambassador in Relta’s court and as a foreign emissary in the Queen’s Council.
The matrilineal line is now the predominant one for the royal family, with the eldest child of any gender identity being allowed to be monarch when they come of age and their parent resigns. The only addendum is that they must wish to have an heir or heirs, the decision being made upon them hitting puberty.
”Baptisms” of the royal family became optional, as to allow for possible future dynasties to not be forced to follow the old laws.
Non-polytheistic belief systems are officially put on the books as legal, and recognized in the judicial system.
The approval rating of the monarch determines if their heir will become their successor, or if a different highly ranked aristocrat or politician in general will train their eldest child to become the heir. This is to prevent inbreeding to maintain bloodlines and to account for the public opinion.
There is an annual tour by the monarch(s) and their heir throughout the kingdom, particularly through the farther away towns where their faces may not be known. It is to familiarize the peasantry with their rulers, and to let them know they’re cared for. Relta enacts this as a law in the tenth year of her reign, after a lover of hers made her with child (by both their choices).
The monarch, if unwed, is allowed to take multiple aristocratic lovers. Sex with multiple people of “grand pedigree” is desired as to produce the most healthy heir possible. Marriage is optional for the monarch, and only done if both parties are in love. This is enacted in the fifth year of Relta’s reign.
The lovers of the monarch are required to be well-educated and politically aligned with the monarch above all else, as they have a privileged status being the monarch’s lover and having their ear during vulnerable moments. If a lover is deemed unfit to council the monarch, the affair is terminated with compensation given to the lover for their services. This was enacted in the eighth year of Relta’s reign.
A sibling’s offspring may be chosen as heir to the monarch if the monarch wishes for it and the sibling shares at least one blood parent with the monarch. This was enacted in the thirtieth year of Relta’s reign, when her younger half-sister’s eldest son turned fifteen and showed promise as an heir, being a beloved court member and charismatic with the intelligence and wit to back it. Relta’s heir, her sister’s child, is also the heir to her sister’s husband’s kingdom, so their second child became the heir to the husband’s kingdom - a better fit overall for both kingdoms If compared to real medieval kingdoms, her half-sister married into the French Valois dynasty.
The primary allies of Lunaruz include kingdoms comparable to medieval: France, Spain, Ireland, Scotland, Russia, and Scandinavia.
The Vatican is not allowed to send missionaries or emissaries to Lunaruz, as trying to convert someone is illegal. Relta enacts this in her twentieth year of her reign. Other religious parties are also not allowed to send missionaries seeking to convert.
A high priest/ess/ex is chosen from the royal family’s younger children to perform religious rites upon their thirtieth year. Relta chose one of her lover’s sister’s children as her high priestess, due to her being extremely devout to Lord Ares and Queen Macha. The position is optional, and the chosen child is given a choice upon them coming of age.
Religion is not mandatory in Lunaruz, but the mixture of influences the evolution of the kingdom up to modern times. Modern Lunaruz is legally secular, and no longer has a high priest/ess/ex, but the language, mythology/folklore, and overall culture is heavily influenced by the formerly present poly and monotheistic religions practiced. Separation of church and state is heavily enforced though.
The royal bard and royal jester are often also advisors and ambassadors to the people of the kingdom. Relta makes this official rather than tradition in her first year. The selection of the royal bard and jester is done by the common folk, and the last contenders are chosen by the Monarch’s Council.
Aliens, such as Asgardians, are welcomed in Lunaruz with open arms as long as they don’t wish to conquer the kingdom or enforce their will. If it is a peaceful visit, they’re welcomed and given a seat for an emissary in the Monarch’s Council depending on the duration of the visit. Intimate relations and breeding between humanoid aliens and Lunaruzians is allowed, but discouraged for risks of genetic incompatibility. The lifegiver’s status is prioritized. One of Relta’s successors down the line married an Asgardian emissary, and created the Great Lunaruzian-Asgardian Alliance around three hundred years after Relta’s reign ended.
Lunaruz has a great number of refugees, and developed a program to help aid them in adjusting to the society and getting on their feet. Relta “perfected” the program during her course of her reign.

The Phoenix Queen Verse — Adversary: “King” Theodore Ariti
Versus
CW: Misogyny; Arranged Marriages; Violence; Allusions To Domestic Violence; Fraudulent Royalty; Alcohol; Patriarcal Mentalities; Infant Mortality Mention; “Seduction”/Attempted Seduction; Concepts of virginity/first times; blood mention
In Crown Princess Relta’s youth, she had a multitude of suitors she was able to reasonably argued should be rejected and not her future husband. Her most formidable “foe” came when she was nearing her nineteenth birthday, her father getting more desperate for her to be wed and bear heirs (despite having confidence in her as a ruler on her own).
This “foe” is the supposed “King” Theodore Ariti, of a country with resources they supply being desirable to her kingdom. Relta’s father, King Ares, was close to setting up a marriage between the two as to form an alliance and gain access to the resources King Theodore had access to.
Relta caught wind of the coming meeting to make arrangements, the eighteen year old princess planned a trap for the foreign king to see what kind of man he was, as he was rumored to have had previous wives who died with uncertain causes which caused concern for Relta.
Relta tricked King Theodore into drinking wine laced with her own concoction that served as a truth serum. She got him to, publicly, admit to having a had in his wives’ deaths, including in front of her father.
Her father thought less of it than Relta did, assuming it was from bearing King Theodore’s children, none of which had survived infancy unfortunately. He continued to plan for the meeting to arrange the marriage, so Crown Princess Relta plotted another trap for King Theodore to show his true colors.
Princess Relta put herself in King Theodore’s guest chambers, planning to test and see if she could seduce him into dishonoring her by sleeping with her before the wedding night. Note, this is in an era where virginity is vital upon first marriage, and a bit of blood the first time is used as proof by some.
Unfortunately, King Theodore’s anger overrode his lust and he tossed Relta off his bed, toward the bricks of the fireplace. She bruised, which served as proof later of his violence, but fought him off long enough to escape his chambers and run to her father, telling him everything that happened.
Fortunately, the tide turned and King Ares believed Relta, nearly declaring war on King Theodore’s kingdom over it but stopping at the Princess’s insistence of simply cutting off trade with them and banishing King Theodore from their kingdom.
As the King grew closer to his resigning from ruling, and Relta matured, the kingdom grew dire for the resources from King Theodore’s kingdom, and decided to end the cutting off of legal trade with his kingdom and reopen Relta’s hand as an option for King Theodore to marry.
This infuriated and terrified the crown princess, knowing King Theodore was a bad man and likely a worse husband. She plotted, once again, to thwart King Theodore’s advancements. This time, when she held court and had him as a guest, she formally shamed him by rejecting his request to dance with her. She was able to grab his hand before he went to slap her, and showed her court what the man was truly like.
The trade continued, King Theodore supposing to have fled with his tail between his legs and not seeking to improve his side of the trade deal, but instead he quietly swore his revenge on the kingdom, specifically Crown Princess Relta. He occasionally waged war against the outskirts of her kingdom, along with allying himself with misogynistic factions that wished to demand her male child be the heir, rather than Relta. He builds his forces against her and her dynasty, plotting her beheading as the climax of the war.
Princess Relta, in an out of character action, follows her father’s lead on dealing with the skirmishes and anti-queen factions. She knows he will step down soon, and that she can manage the threat from King Theodore’s forces and the factions that are against her rule but not aligned with King Theodore as well.

The Phoenix Queen — Relta’s Powers [Part I]
Relta’s powers are rooted in her divine ancestry, Queen Macha and Lord Ares of the Celtic Pantheon and Hellenic Pantheon respectively.
Both deities are war entities, giving Relta an advantage in politics and causing pain upon her enemies with her magic.
Unlike the average citizens of Lunaruz, Crown Princess/Queen Relta is very powerful magically due to her lineage.
Relta’s powers are surrounding pain and pleasure, along with an affinity for horses and dogs/wolves, coming from the animals connected to Queen Macha and Lord Ares. She mastered horseback riding by a young age, and has had a canine companion since infancy.
Relta can inflict any level of pain she desires on anyone in her view, thus her going to the battlefield with her army.
She can also inflict intense pleasure on anyone in her view, but she doesn’t really utilize this power due to consent issues even with her lovers.
Relta is the personal punisher of criminals in Lunaruz, as she feels responsible for their crimes and thus she must be the one to cause their pain.
Relta also has glamour powers, the ability to alter her appearance and sneak around amongst whoever she chooses with these powers. She uses it to gain information on what her people think of the course of action she takes as ruler and emissary. She rarely does this though, as she feels it is a violation of her people’s privacy.
Relta also has advanced healing abilities, able to heal almost any injury - even if nearly fatal. She does not know where this gift comes from, but uses it on the battlefield and when traveling her kingdom. It is suspected that Lord Apollon (Hellenic Pantheon) is in her lineage somewhere, due to his healing epithets. She also suspects Lady Brigid, a very popular deity in Lunaruz, even amongst the Christians who have Saint Brigid drawn from the pagan deity.
As “Aphrodite Areia Incarnated”, Relta is revered as a goddess in mortal form, with dominion and wisdom over all associated with the goddess - including love, fertility, and war. This contributes to Relta’s political and diplomatic prowess as she inherently is attuned to those topics.
Relta also knows advanced level sorcery/witchcraft, able to create and manipulate the elements to her advantage if under duress. These powers are harder for her to access, due to them requiring a deep level of concentration and not coming “naturally” from her lineage. Relta learned more mastery over these powers upon meeting King James/John (@ofheroesandscholars) and building an alliance. He aided her in concentrating and not draining herself as much when doing elemental magic.
Another aspect of her being “Aphrodite Areia Incarnated” is that s-x empowers Relta, so post-coitus her abilities are at the top of their game for the next few days. This prompts her to be with one of her lovers prior to upcoming battles, with her lover’s consent of course.
Relta is able to channel deities, and their abilities, if she has a strong enough religious/spiritual connection to them. The deities include: Lady Aphrodite Areia, Lord Ares, Queen Macha, Lady Brigid, Lord Apollon, and Queen Hera. It takes a lot out of her though to do this, as it is full body channeling.
Relta knows multiple forms of divination, and is particularly skilled in astrology and cartomancy (readings using cards, such as tarot or oracle cards). She rarely uses these gifts though, as she feels the insight is “cheating”.
If at full power, Relta can temporarily slow down time to the point it seems frozen. She has used this once in a battle against now-former King Theodore in order to save some of her soldiers. Unfortunately, she’ll fall unconscious after slowing time for five minutes, so she needs to get to a safe place before her time is up. She doesn’t know where this power comes from, and rarely uses it.

The Phoenix Queen — Relta As Aphrodite Areia Incarnate [Part I]
CW: Religious ideas; Reincarnation; Violence; Fake Blood
In Lunaruz, many of the old Celtic, Greek, and Norse deities are worshipped anew. Lady Aphrodite is one of the most popular goddess across polytheists, especially her “warlike” epithet, Aphrodite Areia.
Upon Relta’s birth on the Summer Soltice, it was believed that Aphrodite Areia had incarnated as the princess due to a prophecy foreseen by the High Priestess of Aphrodite, a highly respected member of the kingdom’s royal community (all high priest/ess/exes are part of the royal circle).
The prophecy was that a woman born of love would stop all bloodshed in Lunaruz, born to a king and queen descended from the Gods, on the Summer Soltice and would be Aphrodite Areia in human form. Relta is the only child known to fit the prophecy, but the prophecy’s legitimacy is what is questioned due to the death of the High Priestess a week after her vision, with “heretic” written in her blood.
The royal family believed the prophecy, as did the majority of their court, so Relta was raised believing she was Lady Aphrodite Areia. Worshipers of Lady Aphrodite traveled to see the infant princess and be blessed by her to do well in both love and combat, though even skirmishes were infrequent even in the time of Relta’s parents’ reign.
Annually, Relta’s life is celebrated on her half-birthday, December 21st. Many marriages are held on this day in her honor, along with mock battles. At the end of the night, Relta is drenched in fake blood to symbolize the blood shed by Lunaruzians of old for the sake of the kingdom, her holding a sword and scepter, crossed across her chest.
To acknowledge the relationship between Lord Ares and Lady Aphrodite, especially Lady Aphrodite Areia, Relta and the High Priest/ess/ex of Lord Ares share kisses on the cheek, and dine together that evening. Nothing goes farther than that unless desired by both parties. Relta’s choice is secret, and it is unknown if she’s even bedded Lord Ares’s High Priest/ess/ex even in modern times.
Once crowned queen, Relta rides out to battles with the crest of her family and the symbols of Lady Aphrodite and Lord Ares overlapping to signify the presence of Lady Aphrodite Areia on the battlefield. She is fluent in Ancient Greek, and gives a speech to the troops in both Lunaruzian and in Ancient Greek, along with a small blessing in Latin that she prepares specially for every skirmish or battle she attends. It gives great solace to the troops seeing their monarch on the battlefield, and believing her a war goddess incarnated.
Relta’s matron goddess is actually Lady Aphrodite Areia, who is able to possess the queen, while Relta’s patron deity is Emperor Odin of the Norse pantheon. This is due to his royal status along with his dominion over wisdom, as Relta is considered to be one of the wisest rulers in the kingdom’s known history.
