Could you maybe write something where the reader is Avdol's wife, and she's just discovered she's pregnant and is very nervous about telling him?

You stand in front of your bedroom’s mirror, studying yourself carefully. Your hand glides up and down your tummy as you try to steady your breath. You squint, attempting to picture your belly much more swollen than it currently is. You know you won’t have to try imagining for long. After a multitude of different over-the-counter tests had shown: you’re pregnant. After Avdol’s long journey back to Egypt , he had returned to you. You had been sobbing, wrapping your arms around him tightly, and taking in his intense warmth as he kissed you with fiery lips. The two of you made up for lost time, making love over and over until you were satiated and exhausted, laying on top of Avdol’s chest, tracing his new scars he had with your fingers as he brushed your hair out of your face.��

Although this was definitely a fond memory of yours, you realize you weren’t exactly contraceptive-conscious in the throws of passion. Avdol had left to collect groceries at the market while you stayed home, complaining of fatigue from a sleepless night. Well, now you know why you couldn’t sleep…So he had left you to rest and collect your thoughts. Although the thought of having a child with Avdol makes you giddy, you can’t help but feel a nervous tightness in your chest. 

You’re frightened to tell him. Avdol often mentions how happy he is sharing a life with you. But what about another? You have faith that Avdol is a good enough man that he wouldn’t run screaming to the hills. But would your relationship change for the worse? That scared you. No matter how many ways you told him in your head, none of them sounded good…

You hear the sound of the front door opening quietly. You walk out of the bedroom to assist Avdol in putting away the groceries. Your husband greets you with a warm smile, two large paper bags in his arm. You can’t help but return the smile tenfold; that loving look he gives you radiates warmth and safety, despite the nerves you feel. 

“And how is my love? Is something troubling you?” Avdol asks, smile still on his face. You freeze from unloading one of the paper bags. Damn. You shake your head, gripping a small bag of apples, trying to make your face remain neutral. You simply make a noise of protest and continue to unload and put away groceries, knowing that you won’t be able to  keep this act up for long, especially with Avdol’s eyes continuing to watch you with curiosity. The last item you take out of the grocery bag is a bunch of grapes. You pause, fingering the smooth buds nervously. 

“You know,” you start, hands shaking a little, “you have to chop up grapes for children younger than six months old, or else they can choke.” Avdol nods slowly, look of puzzlement on his face. 

“I do suppose that makes sense,” he replies. But upon noticing the unsteady nature of your hands, he quickly steps towards you. He takes both of your hands into his, causing the grapes to fall, as he struggles to look into your eyes. “What’s the matter? You’re shaking. Please, look at me, darling,” Avdol pleads quietly, the warmth of his hands wrapped around your own easing the trembling. 

You gulp down the lump in your throat. It’s no use; you have to tell him. What was the alternative? Having him find out when your tummy was the size of a watermelon? Though he would honestly probably figure it out way before then.

“It…” you begin, feeling shaky in your voice again, “It appears that…we might need to learn how to chop grapes soon.”

After a pause and an absolutely unreadable expression from your beloved, you see the light of knowledge flush across his eyes. Your heart drops as his hands slowly lower from your own. Oh no…Images of Avdol’s back turned to you flash in your head at 100 miles per second, and you can’t help but feel dread. You bite your lip to keep tears from spilling out as Avdol indeed begins to turn away.

“Av-Avdol, I’m…” you stutter, the dam breaking; you’re crying and reaching out to him. Much to your surprise, Avdol swiftly shifts back to you, tears streaming down his own scarred cheeks, causing you to gasp audibly. 

“My love…My…” Avdol whispers; he appears to be so utterly moved that his voice is so low. “My most beautiful, precious, lotus flower…you have made me the happiest man in all of Egypt.”

Yet another AU

Since I need this fem!HypMic AU to explain how I came up with some assorted headcanons I was planning to post, you might as well have it. (It's SFW, because I don't think I'm capable of writing NSFW.)

Notes:

In my head, this genderswap business is brought about by the psychic powers Gentaro has in this AU.

In MTC's case, the exact storyline I have in my head for this is quite clear - Jyuto gets transformed first by Gentaro, then Samatoki is attacked by a (female) psychic-type user who takes issue with an offhanded comment he makes about fem!Jyuto, then Riou takes an attack from Gentaro meant for fem!Samatoki and fem!Jyuto.

In FP's case, Gentaro transforms himself and his teammates out of curiosity.

BB unapologetically took their names from Gotoubun no Hanayome/The Quintessential Quintuplets, so to distinguish themselves, they changed Jiro’s name to “Nina”…That’s all they did...

Notice that I didn't change a lot about the characters - I wanted to keep them as close to their original characterisation and appearance as possible.

There is one character (more?) used to dealing with women who helps their division members out with the swap: BB help each other out, for MTC it's Samatoki (because of Nemu), for FP it's Ramuda and for MTR it's jacket on!Hifumi or Jakurai where necessary. (I don't know about DH and BAT.)

Due to the swap, BB changed their division name temporarily to "Buster Babes".

Ichiro -> Ichika (一花)

An unapologetic bishonen chaser and former delinquent who likes music (particularly rap), but also otome games, anime and manga. Secretly a fujo (?).

Has the shortest hair of the sisters.

Jiro -> Nina (二奈)

Sporty and outgoing, also an anime and manga fan. Unapologetic fujo who shares shipping content with her sister.

Saburo -> Miku (美玖)

Unlike her sisters, Miku is just an ordinary riajuu (normie), albeit a smart, smug one. Likes classical music.

Samatoki -> Makoto (誠, which means “sincerity”) (LOL)

A trash-talking, chain-smoking wakagashira of the Katen yakuza with boyish short hair. She wears men’s clothing because women’s stuff doesn’t always fit her and so she only takes interest in vintage men's clothing.

(How a woman got this far in the yakuza…no one will ever know. Maybe she's a dansou wearer...?)

Jyuto -> Touko (桃子, a play on the fact Jyuto was born in spring while also retaining the "to" sound)

A long-haired policewoman, who is never seen without some kind of rabbit accessory, including phone background and phone case (although those don’t really count as “accessories”…?).

Has terrible eyesight. Typically wears pantsuits.

Riou -> Ouka (桜花, the middle name is still "Mason"...like Jyuto's, the name's carrying over sound while changing kanji)

A former navywoman who is constantly seen toting around what appears to be a hunting rifle, despite weapons being outlawed by the H Act.

Hairstyle does not change (pixie cut, probably?). Ouka is significantly shorter than Riou, but tall for a woman her age.

Ramuda -> Kazuko (数子)

A bubbly, short fashion designer who likes to holler at her “oniisans”…much to their consternation…

Might be bi (?) It's hard to tell.

Gentaro -> Akiko (晶子, from Akiko Yosano, much like “Yumeno” may be from Kyuusaku Yumeno)

A demure author, dressed in a school outfit from the Taisho era (red andonbakama, or undivided hakama, as opposed to the black umanori hakama Gentaro wears). Has a design on her hakamashita (the kimono that goes under the hakama), unlike Kuko. Has longer hair than Gentaro does, but only to keep a (red) bow in it.

Constantly procrastinating before deadlines.

Dice -> Nana (奈々, sounds like the Japanese word for "seven")

A gambler who would gamble away everything...but her undergarments.

Jakurai -> Teruko (輝子, meaning “shining child”, playing on both the holy imagery and the “thunder” in "Jakurai")

A genius doctor with a mysterious past. Occasionally ties up her hair when treating patients, but is not known for braiding it. (Therefore, any braiding is probably Kazuko's fault.)

Teruko is shorter than Jakurai, but tall for a woman.

Hifumi -> ひふみ [just change name to hiragana]

A popular hostess at a hostess club. Seen as extremely shy because she can't really handle her coworkers without her jacket.

Hifumi faints upon first seeing the transformation and has a much harder time getting used to the genderswap than the others.

Doppo -> Ayumi (歩) [could also be called Tokiko (国子)] (both are puns on Kunikida Doppo)

A long-haired office lady who has no notable characteristics (see the Delinquent Policeman ARB event for what she looks like).

Sasara -> [no change, because apparently Sasara's name is feminine as it stands]

A manzai comedienne with long hair, pinned up at the back of her head with a large clip. Typically seen wearing gaudy dresses and even gaudier shoes.

Rosho -> Sumire (菫, meaning "violet (flower)", pun on the “azalea” in the surname, since azaleas are normally pink and Rosho is purple-themed)

A maths teacher and former manzai comedienne with Sasara. Looks old-timey, but is actually only 26. Wears round glasses for cosmetic/sentimental reasons.

Rei -> [no change] [could also be called "Reiko" (零子)]

A self-styled “conwoman” and the mother (?) of the Yamada sisters.

Kuko -> 空子 (same pronunciation, one different kanji) [Possible spoiler for the Harmonious Cooperation drama track: if you don't mind overlapping with Hitoya's brother, you could call her "Sora" (空)]

A former delinquent lady, currently in training to be a shrine maiden. Seems like a bit of an airhead (<-pun on her name), but would never be unfaithful to anything she's dedicated to.

Jyushi -> Tsukiko (月子)

A timid visual-kei (dansou-wearing) vocalist who occasionally hams it up with chuunibyou. To the fans of Argo Kushii Gakudan, it’s a secret that she’s a girl…

Hitoya -> Yui (由衣, a pun on 獄衣 gokui (prison uniform))

A money-grubbing lawyer with a bob and a pencil skirt. Seems like a strict obasan, but is actually kind (LOL).

Update: Tweaked various things around to better work with the AU plus to mark a spoiler...Also, I know I changed Kuko's entire raison d'etre, and apparently there are female Japanese Buddhist monks, but...can you see a female Kuko being one? No? Didn't think so. That's why, despite my best efforts, fem!Gentaro and fem!Kuko's outfits overlap to some extent, although a shrine maiden has a haori while a Taisho schoolgirl has a hakamashita.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Tagged by: stolen from @artisaen FULL NAME: Zero - probably not his true name and more than likely a name his gang gave him. He doesn’t remember his true name. GENDER AND SEXUALITY: Male; bisexual. ETHNICITY AND SPECIES: Nohrian ( with hc him being part hoshidan ); human. BIRTHPLACE AND BIRTH DATE: In the slums of Nohr; April 22th. RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Verse dependent but defaults to single. GUILTY PLEASURES: Zero’s a lot softer with his lover ( and close friends ) rather than strangers he meets for the first time. His speech to strangers is dirty and violent, but with his lover, he asks them to hold his hand and to be with him, always. Hand holding is a guilty pleasure but not in a way he feels embarrassed over. He just wouldn’t ask a stranger or someone he doesn’t know or trust well to hold his hand.  Zero usually feeds stray cats in secret, mainly because he is a little embarrassed at that. Most people just wouldn’t think of him as the compassionate type and he doesn’t want people to think of him as that. The less they think that, the more they’ll stay away from him. PHOBIAS: Abandonment and betrayal by those he loves / trusts the most. He also his a fear of losing his voice, for without it he would not be able to fight or defend himself with his words. It ties in with his fear of being vulnerable to people who could easily use that vulnerability against him. WHAT THEY WOULD BE FAMOUS / INFAMOUS FOR: Zero’s pretty much well known for “having a dirty mind” and also being sadistic in nature. It’s obviously infamous, as most people have nothing good to say about him for the most part. Those who truly know him, though, would talk about how loyal and hard working he can be. WHAT HAVE THEY / WOULD THEY HAVE GOTTEN ARRESTED FOR: Thievery and murder, as well as prostitution. CHARACTER MOST LIKELY TO MURDER THEM: Probably who ever he angers the most tbh. He tends to push the limit just to see how far he can go. FAVORITE BOOK GENRE: Because of Leon’s influence, philosophy, history and strategy, but Zero secretly enjoys fantasy works and fairy tales... Usually for the “happy ever afters” or the extremely downer endings, depending on his mood. LEAST FAVORITE BOOK CLICHE: He doesn’t really have one... Probably overly sappy endings but even then, it just depends if he’s looking for that or not, so he has a love / hate relationship with fairy tales. He would hate Robin Hood for the sole reason of the fact thievery is glorified and he spends all of his breath trying to get Eponine not to steal no matter what.

TALENTS AND / OR POWERS: Archery, even for a man with one eye. He’s also extremely good at stealth and sneaking around, especially in the night. As a result, he’s also great at getting information and manipulation in order to get said information. He knows how to torture people too, since it’s something his old gang has taught him. Things like this are why he’s a valuable resource to Leon. WHY SOMEONE MIGHT LOVE THEM: Zero is rather blunt, so some might enjoy his blunt honesty depending on the situation. Despite the hard edges around Zero, he knows when to comfort someone in need, at least if the person is close to him ( and even if someone isn’t close to him, he can still find ways to make them better in his closed off way, like in his A support with Mozume where he gets her gem back under the guise of the fact he was just tired of her crying ). With the right person, he can be soft and loving. WHY SOMEONE MIGHT HATE THEM: As said before, Zero is blunt. Not a lo of people can appreciate or like that. There’s also the fact that Zero is a sadist and enjoys the suffering of others due to his shitty past - though his sadism has a reason, it’ll still put people off. He also laces his words with dirty double meanings and without knowing the actual reason behind it, people would chalk him up to being a dirty minded person. HOW THEY CHANGE: Zero isn’t exactly a clean mean - he’s still a sadist who suffered because of the abuse he received in the past, but Leon has had a positive influence on him. Had Leon not found him, Zero would probably be extremely cruel and heartless, but Leon has managed to influence Zero in some way. He’s probably a lot kinder than he would have been without him and has found some kind of meaning in his life because of him. He’s not all the way out of his depressive episodes, but he’s in a better place than he was before.

WHY YOU LOVE THEM: Zero is my comfort character; I relate to him more than I thought I would when I was first introduced to him. I do realize that a character like Zero is not everyone’s cup of tea but I can’t stand it when people will just ignore his abuse to villainize him more or to oversexualize him. Certainly, Zero is not a character that should be woobified either ( especially when this fandom treats Takumi’s problems as something cute or quirky bc he’s theirs ‘precious bby uwu’ like geeze i dont want the same ppl doing that to Zero ). Zero’s a very grey character - he’s neither black or white. He does ugly things that aren’t meant to be looked at as quirky or cute - it’s the reality of what abuse can do to victims. Abuse victims aren’t always quiet or soft people; sometimes, they lash out in anger and are cold to people.

Scorpion and Sub-Zero’s names are confirmed as they are mentioned in the official material, such as Japanese manual of SNES version of Mortal Kombat games, and I speculate that they are translated by meanings. 

Scorpion (全蠍人) - subete no sasori - which roughly translates to ‘all scorpions’ and in the context, ‘scorpion man.’ I headcanon that ‘Sasori’ is Hanzo Hasashi’s ‘codename’ as a Shirai Ryu General. 

Sub-Zero (絶対零度) - zettaireido - which literally means ‘absolute temperature’ in Japanese, and also in Chinese, which literally means ‘absolute zero.’

When their real names are taken into the consideration, the credibility is less confirmed as I speak neither Japanese nor Chinese, but I would like to believe I know enough Chinese characters (as Koreans also require learning Chinese characters and I remember some of it) to at least confirm that what I think they mean is at least correct. 

Hanzo Hasashi (波佐志半藏) - I know for a fact that Scorpion's name, "Hanzo Hasashi", may be a possible reference to Hanzō Hattori, a famous samurai and ninja during the Japanese Sengoku period. 半 originally means “half,” or “divide.” In his name, it might be used by the meaning of “judicial.” 蔵, warehouse, was used frequently from the end of the 16th century to show the economical successfulness. In order to wish the son for his prosperity, his father might named Hanzo. The Kanji that compose Hanzo, in this case 半蔵 can be separated, and translated to Half (半) and Finance (蔵). 

Kuai Liang (奎良; 快涼) - literally meaning "fast and cool". In addition, "涼快" (Liang Kuai) means "quick cooling." The Pinyin translation of Sub-Zero's Chinese name (奎良), going by the first name-last name standard (the second character represents the person's first name), can be translated as "Liáng Kuí". While "Liáng" is a fairly common first name in mainland China (direct translation = "Good"), "Kuí" as a last name/surname establishes the person as a "foreigner from another kingdom" to China (as the name originated from either Mongolia or from the Manchu). Whether this character's naming convention was chosen to represent Sub-Zero's status as an Outworlder that was born in the Earthrealm or, alternatively, is merely a happy coincidence to the character is unknown.

The clan’s origins. 

The Shirai Ryu (Kanji: 白井流; lit. "White Well Style") are a clan of Japanese ninjas in the Mortal Kombat universe credited with bringing ninjutsu and other secret martial arts to Japan from China. The Shirai Ryu is also the name of what was a Ninjutsu tradition that apparently existed many centuries ago. It was said to be one of the oldest Ninjutsu traditions along with Hakuun-Ryu, Negishi-Ryu, and some others. Both the Ninjutsu and Shurikenjutsu traditions would make sense for Scorpion's character. Ryu also has meanings of "family", "tradition", and "flow", and that pertains more towards martial arts styles.

The Lin Kuei (Chinese: 林鬼; pinyin: Lín Guǐ; means "Forest Ghosts"). "Somewhere in the northern and most parts of Asia, there exists a secret clan of assassins and thieves known as the Lin Kuei. This group has existed for years and thrives on the evil intention of the people who pay for their services. Its warriors are chosen at birth to be raised apart from the workings of day to day civilisation and are stripped of their former lives. Only the clan knows their existence. Each of them possess certain skills and abilities that set them apart from normal men. These abilities are passed on from generation to generation and honed throughout the experiences of life. Certain Lin Kuei warriors possess supernatural abilities including those that commune with nature. They had rivals of smaller assassin clans in the icy lands of Arctica called the Tengu Clan and Snow Ninjas."

連標題都懶得想（X）背景是Savoy屠殺之後。其實我的headcanon是Porthos在事件之前加入，而Athos是事件之後才來的��以解釋他為什麼不記得Savoy屠殺這件事）。不過為了寫文，只好改一下headcanon XD

Porthos很意外。

 那個新來的傢伙，平常話也不說人也不看，晚上只知道坐在一角喝酒，誰多問兩句就一副準備用眼神把人瞪死的樣子－－現在一手扶著Aramis的肩，一手拿著湯碗，「再喝一點」，輕聲細語地。

 Savoy屠殺對火槍隊的衝擊很大。他們把載著屍體的木頭車推進來的時候，Porthos哭了，雖然他自己只加入了幾個月，跟躺在車裡的人一點都不熟。

 Aramis被裹得嚴嚴實實，躺在後一輛木頭車上。他傷得不算特別重，只是反反覆覆地發燒，就算熱度暫時退卻，Savoy雪地裡亡靈的空洞神色，也仍舊頑強地盤據在他曾經充滿生命力的眼睛裡。

 傷者被送進房間的時候，Porthos瞥見站在另一邊的Athos。他臉上依舊毫無表情，但向來冷硬的目光，如今卻透著彷彿一碰就會碎的，玻璃般清晰透明的傷感。

 從那時開始，Athos就成了照顧病人的主力，端湯送水、生火換藥，日以繼夜。���不是親眼目睹，Porthos大概打死也不相信，這個看起來毫無人性溫暖氣息的傢伙可以如此溫柔。

 那種溫柔幾乎帶著悲劇感。

 這天下午，Porthos把新砍的木柴捧進病人房間，木柴碰上門框咯噠一聲，剛從Athos手裡接過湯碗的Aramis一抖，碗倒翻在地，湯汁順著地板的縫隙流淌到窗邊。

 「對、對不起，」Aramis沙啞著嗓子，顫抖的語氣彷彿他剛剛錯手殺死了一個孩子。

 Porthos還沒來得及應答，Athos已經雙手摟住病人的肩膀，「噓、放鬆些」，在那頭零亂的深褐色鬈髮上落了一個吻。

 －－在Athos的生命裡，會不會有過一個因病早夭的弟弟？

 看著在Athos懷裡閉上眼睛的Aramis，Porthos是這樣猜想的。

Rei enjoys water a lot...she can swim well but she mostly prefers to paddle idly or to float with her eyes closed, losing herself in that feeling of weightlessness, of feeling not entirely in her body but apart of the water itself. Part of it is bc it's a familiar feeling of being submerged in LCL, the condition she was 'born' in, and it feels familiar and almost comforting, like being held.

But oxymoronically, water provides Rei with a way to both ground and detach herself from her body. She can hold her breath for longer than most, can loose herself in this fluid echo chamber until her limbs feel numb and she can't tell where she ends and the water begins; its as close to nothingness that she can get to, and if she could stay like that for hours, she would. But water is not LCL. She can't breathe it in and eventually her chest will start to burn and she'll have to come up and gasp for air and see how her fingertips shriveled up and how the smell of chlorine clings to her hair and makes her eyes sting. For a moment she's reminded of her body, however loosely it is hers, and that it can touch the world and the world will touch back and the feelings will linger just for a bit.

fun onion fact : due to having Lilith's knowledgeable soul, Rei is able to pick up other languages much quicker than most people can. She still needs time to properly learn it in order to speak, but she's able to tune to the new sounds and notice syntax and patterns in morphology. She's familiar with German and English due to interaction with NERV employees from oversees, but even then her reading ability outweighs her speaking and writing in both.

kicks my feet thinking of Rei as horrific in an angelic/cosmic sense <3

Particularly Rei 1 and Rei 3 as their souls are whole and so more powerful compared to Rei 2's who is more fragmented. Rei 1 is in an interesting position as being a child, who doesn't know much, and bearing an inhuman soul that fundamentally is very knowing. She's very curious about the world and people around her and want to learn and experience as much as she can and has this desire to look after it, but as a being who shouldn't technically be alive I don't think its a stretch to say she'd unintentionally cause harm. Like the sound of her crying causes anyone to hear it to experience immense sorrow and pain that gets more intense and unbearable, when she looks at you her gaze is so invasive it makes you feel vulnerable ( due to resembling the red sea of life ) and paranoid ( due to the probing knowledge held within )

(which is also why i think rei 2's gaze can be unnerving even if she doesnt have so much angelic power. its a very uncanny feeling of being scrutinized and looked at directly, to the point where you feel like she knows something about you that you dont or were trying to hide. )

i think its interesting to think of Rei 1 in the anime in this light. When Naoko sees first sees her she obviously sees the resemblance to Yui, but later when Rei talks to her its as if Rei is slowly morphing into Yui before her own eyes in this disorienting blur of colour and light. Maybe by speaking the truth to Naoko, which was telling her how Gendo views her, Rei was projecting an image into Naoko's mind or maybe even actually changing physically herself in order to communicate clearly to her that Yui is the only woman Gendo loves. Its not to hurt her; on the contrary Rei tells her because she finds it sad for Naoko not to know the truth. But Naoko deep down did know she meant nothing truly to Gendo, but this was so suppressed deep down that seeing it clearly before her was too much to handle.

And with Rei 3, she was more angelic in the sense that she had more control over this power; she could use an AT field, she glowed with radiant light and her body became too fragile for her to stay in and began to fall apart again. Its sorta a shame we dont see much of her before instrumentality bc that would be interesting to explore more.

I dont have a conclusion to this i just be thinking thoughts. :)
