So it was established in the last episode that Taylor still believes in Santa (tbh I wouldn't be surprised if it's come up prior to this ep too but anyways-) so... Do you think (saint) Nicky been has portalling in every year since the betrayal to sneak in a gift for his son amongst the pile? That Cassandra doesn't even notice because it's just one among the many many presents she herself has bought and wrapped? But every year without fail... Taylor gets one gift that simply says "from: Nick" and well, obviously that has to mean it's from Santa (a conclusion which Nicky expects him to come to, and why he can sign his name at all, though he misses when he could just write "dad"). And one year when he's still quite young, a sleepy little Taylor actually catches Nicky in the act, and Nicky wishes more than anything that he could just *stay*, but instead he only softly tells Taylor to go back to bed, and Taylor thinks that Santa is a lot younger and a bit sadder than he expected, but what's he gonna do- not listen to Santa Claus? So he smiles meekly at the man he does not know to be his father, and hurriedly heads back to his room.

Also yes of course Nicky eats the fucking cookies left out of course he's not gonna pass up on free cookies (which are home-baked to top it off) come on that's a given.

Forgive my asking, but what are you meant to do if you find hair in your food at a restaurant? Send the whole thing back to the kitchen? Like I know why he did but what if he didn't? Like what if Dick and Barbara raised him together? Like what then? Sure, it would be awkward because your bio-dad would also technically be your granddad and your father would also be your brother, but overall I think it would have been better for Damian.

one gripe i have with subtitles for stuff like Squid Game is that it translates some things that don't need to be, and doesn't translate some things that would be helpful. for the latter, in season 1 when Saebyeok says her name to Gihun, he says "that's a beautiful name, it doesn't really suit you though". I'm sure to many people watching, they'd just have to go ".... is it?" because they don't know that Saebyeok means dawn. her name is Dawn. i don't want them to translate that every time lol but i feel like that one scene could have had a parenthetical saying "saebyeok means dawn". Minyeo, when she says her name, says something like "yes that's my real name", i think. if the subtitles explained that she said that because Minyeo means "beautiful woman" that would have been helpful to people lol.

as for the former, ive always hated how Korean stuff translates words like oppa unnie hyung and noona in subtitles. Minyeo calls Deoksu oppa and the subtitles say "old man" but it doesn't mean that, lol. it does mean she's calling him older than her, but it's more like "big bro". but honestly it's SUCH a standard Korean thing that i kinda just wish it was left as oppa. if you watching something in the Korean language, then oppa unnie hyung and noona are just things you'll have to learn. it's not hard lol. girls call older boys who they're close to "oppa". boys call older girls who they're close to "noona". boys call older boys "hyung", girls call older girls "unnie". it's a sign of deference to an older person but also closeness. they literally mean sister and brother, but translating them as "brother" or "sister" or "old man" feel.... unnatural in English lol. the subtitles often translate them as just the character's name, like when Ali says Hyung the subtitles say Sangwoo. that's correct. but when the subtitles say big bro or old man, that's just... nobody talks like that in English lol

can you even make your own shampoo? no no jokes aside, if he wanted to make his own smoothie it would probably include a lot of blended up bars of soap and maybe motor oil and/or gasoline. maybe he’d add little scraps of metal if he was feeling adventurous. i can’t really see him take the time to make his own smoothie though, so he’d mainly just drink the shampoo…it’s like a premade smoothie you’d get at those bougie stores.

had a conversation about gym class with my friend who I went to school with today - it was depressing but also nice to hear that her experience with it (at that particular school) was just as bad as mine.

I don't think the way my school treated gym class was entirely normal tbh. it was completely different to the school I went to after, anyway. and everyone I talked to there only knew gym class to be a pretty fun, lighthearted thing. at my old school it was only about achievement, you had to be perfect, if not you were usually yelled at. and if you couldn't participate because you were feeling a bit ill (but not enough to stay home from school) you were ridiculed and/or insulted in front of the whole class. this happened with every gym teacher we had over the whole 9 years there.

it felt like two hours of punishment, there was nothing good about it. and it made at least the both of us feel like any kind of exercise/sport, especially in a group setting, was terrifying - for years after. even my much more positive experience at the other school I went to didn't make that go away.
