Today's (10/8/2024) Episode: Lunch With Gramps
“Ho, ho, ho, Happy Winterfest!” Gilbert said as they arrived. “Oh my, look at how big my little buddy is getting. “I hope you guys are ready to work for your supper! I bought all the fixin’s, but I always say the best meals are those you make together as a family.”
“Can I help?” Skye piped up, looking curiously around his grandfather’s cozy ranch home from his new, higher vantage point.
“Sure!” Gilbert replied, “There’s lots of potatoes that need a good scrubbing, and I’ve got a nifty slicer you can crank afterward to chop them up.”
“You three have fun.” Noemi told them “I’m going to bring Roach out back to the stables and get him ready to show off.”
Skye quickly got bored with washing and slicing potatoes with grandpa’s suspiciously new plastic gadget, but no-one complained when he switched to “documenting” the process with his camera and providing “expert advice” on spicing the dishes just right.
Out back Noemi was happily cleaning her four-legged friend’s hooves and brushing his coat to a glossy shine. “Are you ready for your first big competition?” she asked him. Roach whinnied, which Noemi took to mean he was just as excited as she was to compete in the local show!
The sound of the dinner bell called Noemi back in. “It looks amazing” she told them “Was it fun helping out Skye?” He smiled as she ruffled his hair.
“He did a great job” Gilbert replied, “and that hubby of yours isn’t too shabby either!”
“I think I’m beginning to understand what my dads saw in this whole cooking business” Luigi told them, “Though you’ll get to sample my true specialty with dessert. I’ve created a holiday mocktail I think you’re going to love. Now come on, grab a plate before it gets cold!”
Before dinner, Skye’s grandpa pulled him aside. “You have Winterfest gifts to open after we eat, but this is a little something just for your birthday.”
Skye’s eyes lit up as he opened the box to find a child’s violin resting inside. “Thanks grandpa! I’m going to practice really hard, and once I get good enough maybe I can record myself playing on Yoshi! Can you help me with that dad??”
“Sure” Luigi called over his shoulder “Music was never my thing, but your Grandpa Peachy liked guitar. Maybe you two can film a duet sometime!”
“Someone wants to follow in his daddy’s footsteps I think” Noemi whispered, chuckling as Skye and Gilbert came to join them at the table.
“Well, that was delicious, if I do say so myself” Luigi sighed with pleasure as he pushed his empty plate away and patted his distended stomach “I wish I could still celebrate the holidays with a Grand Breakfast like I used to, stupid diabetes, but this ham dinner is the next best thing!”
“So, Skye, are you ready to open some presents while we let this delicious food digest and make a little room for dessert?” his grandfather asked him.
Skye nodded but pulled his mom aside as they all headed into the living room. “My tummy hurts. Will grandpa be mad if I skip dessert?”
“Of course not, sweetie” she replied, “but I’ll tell him you’re not hungry if you don’t want to.” Skye gave her a hug, nodding into her sweater.
During the gift exchange it was Luigi who pulled out his phone to capture some memories “Remember Skye” he told his boy “every photographer needs to spend some time in front of the camera as well as behind it, so they remain a part of the stories they’re recording. Say Freezer Bunny!”
After dessert everyone headed downtown to the exhibition center, where Shannon was waiting for them. “Are you ready to show off your new stallion?” Noemi’s mother asked. “It's been ages since I got to cheer you on, and I can’t wait to point you out to all my neighbors.”
With everyone saying their hellos no one was paying attention to little Skye, who was suddenly finding it very hard to breathe in the chill, dusty, air.
While Noemi and her parents went to give Roach one last check before heading into the center for the competition Skye tugged on his dad’s sleeve to get his attention. “What’s wrong champ?” Luigi asked with concern, seeing the tears standing in the corner of his boys' eyes.
“Its so cold out here! When we teleported in, I, I couldn’t breathe!” he sniffled “and now my chest hurts.”
Luigi bent down to wrap him in a hug “Can you breathe now?” Skye nodded “Well good. I promise its nice and warm inside the center; and I’ll tell you a little secret… I never liked cold weather either. That’s why we live on a tropical island. Let’s get out of this chilly air.”
“Hey honey!” he called out “Skye and I are freezing our tushies off! Let’s go! Last one inside is a rotten egg!”
“Congratulations mom!” Skye cried as they exited the center a few hours later. “You and Roach did good girl!” Gilbert agreed “A silver medal on your first event together.” He wrapped a companionable arm around Shannon. “It’s the kind of victory you always wrote stories about as a little girl.”
“Thanks” Noemi replied, standing up and patting her faithful steed on the head “I couldn’t have done it without this fine fellow. How about you, Skye, would you like to try riding Roach?” At her son’s panicked look, she tempered “… or maybe when you’re a bit older?”
Skye’s nodded solemnly. “Yeah, later. Roach is awfully big. For now, I’d rather just take pictures of you riding him for my simstagram account.”
Luigi walked up to the cozy family scene, waving goodbye to the fans that had distracted him. “It's been grand” he told his in-laws before turning towards Noemi “all right, are we ready to go see Scott and mom now?”

Knightstone Household: Chapter 9, Part 5
As the snow fell the aliens arrived! They had all chosen their human form today in an attempt to get in the spirit of the season. After making sure her kids were inside Yolanda gave Suzanna a big hug.
Suzanna: Happy Winterfest
Yolanda: Happy Winterfest! Or is it Merry Winterfest
Marianna: I’m pretty sure I’ve heard humans say both
Yolanda: Then why don’t they say Merry Birthday
Suzanna: Pass
Tyree: Looking full of glee there Silas
Silas: I thought you were going to dress up to
Tyree: I wanted to but dad voted no. Attempted Winterfest cardigan it is
Ruth: You both look stupid
Silas: Oh come on Ruth, we’re kids, Winterfest is meant for us!
Ruth: My Mother says Father Winter is a horrible old man who keeps toys from toddlers
Tyree: But... we’re not toddlers, are we?
Silas: Did you get coal in your stocking Ruth
Pollock: Sydney! Sydney big like Pol
Sydney: Pol! Hi
The other toddler squeezed Pollock tightly to say hello making him laugh.
Pollock: You get gift
Sydney: Yes. Mama got me sun glass
Pollock: Sun glass?
Sydney :*points to sunglasses* They pro ect my eyes
Suzanna: You’re kidding! Why
Marianna: He was cute for a human and I felt like treating myself
Yolanda: I’ve just never understood the attraction to humans myself. Like they’re so... colour limited
Marianna: Colour limited, what does that even mean
Yolanda: They’re all white or brown or black. But aliens... We’re blue and purple and green and pink. So much more attractive
Suzanna: Wait are you saying you and Katherine have never had woohoo in human form
Yolanda: Oh watcher no, strictly alien form in the bedroom
Ethelyn: Oh I don’t feel good
Suzanna: Were you outside?
Ethelyn: I think I have a stomach bug, I needed the cool air for a moment
Yolanda: *turning to Suzanna* Mod?
Suzanna: Mod
Nihel: So it’s a traditional Winterfest thing
Adam: It is. Ham with all the sides
Nihel: I could have sworn it was turkey
Skinner: No they have turkey at Harvestfest
Adam: Sometimes they’ll even put one type of bird inside another to cook
Nihel: Ew! Humans can be so disgusting
Adam: No argument from me, but I will say-
Nihel and Skinner: *in unison* UFO Sixam aliens are worse
Adam: Well they are
Suzanna: Come here Moondust, it’ll be a little while until the grand meal is ready so I think you should have some cereal to tide you overnight
After lifting Pollock into the high chair Suzanna makes up some cereal for him.
Suzanna: Try not to spill too much, we want our guests to be comfy
Pollock: Okay Mummy
*ten minutes later*
Suzanna: What? Two food piles? How?
Pollock: *giggles*
Suzanna: Just stay there while Mummy cleans it up
Adam: LUNCH EVERYONE
Ruth: Finally, I’m starving
Yolanda: Ruth! Manners
Suzanna: Dear watcher, thank you for the feast before us. Thank you for the crisp snow and the friends we share. Jingle bells
Everyone: JINGLE BELLS
They all tuck in to the meal, Adam and his helpers did an excellent job with the food.
When the meal is over Adam and Suzanna say goodbye to their friends and Silas gets a headstart on the dishes so he can get stuck into his game again. With most aliens gone Suzanna ushers Pollock through the nursery so he can have a bath and dry off with plenty of time before bed. He’s a little confused as to why he’s not in the bath seat now but seems happy with the new freedom of motion. Especially how it lets him splash!
Pollock: Mummy help Pol potty?
Suzanna: Of course I can. But remember if you’re talking about Pollock you say ME
Pollock: Mummy help... me potty?
Suzanna: You got it
Pollock tries his best but again a puddle forms outside the potty and he stands sadly.
Pollock: Mummy me made mess
Suzanna: Well don’t stand in it or you’ll feel worse. Come here
She snuggles him close and helps dry his tears.
Suzanna: You know what I think? I think it’s time for more gifts!

Teddy is busy preparing the grand meal in the kitchen when he hears a pleading meow from Dakota and giggling from Josie...
Teddy: Josie... Are you sure he likes that?
Josie: Of course he does, look how handsome he looks! I'm going to get you a matching one for next Winterfest!
Dakota finally accepts Josie's Winterfest "gift" and curls up to sleep by the fire, so she heads out to the stables to check on the new mother and baby.
When she returns Teddy is carving up the baked ham, and the couple sit down to their first Winterfest meal together!

Cam makes roast chicken as her dad and mom get the plates and cups out. Usually the family has a ham dinner for Winterfest but since Grace doesn't eat pork, they decided to cook something everyone could enjoy. Grace had been sheepish when Min Jun asked her about diet restrictions the day before and said she could bring her own dish if he wanted to cook a ham dinner, but he'd told her that he wanted her to be comfortable and enjoy herself and the family would enjoy a chicken or beef dish too. Cam finishes cooking the chicken, and everyone grabs a plate. They chat about Cam's college, Min Jun's writing, how things are going at Paenji's store, and Grace and Iseul’s jobs.
Later, Cam brings out a few bottles of nectar to the table and automatically asks Grace if she wants any. "No, thank you. I don't drink." Grace says, and Cam blushes. "Right, sorry." She says. "If you don't mind me asking, why don't you drink?" Cam asks curiously. "Cameron." Her mom says. "No, it's alright. On my mum's side of the family, our Pakistani ancestors were Muslim and we've kept the habit of some practices even though we don't follow the religion. When my dad married my mum he decided to give up alcohol and pork with her, and I grew up celebrating Eid and Winterfest both." Grace says, and Cam nods. "I understand, and thats cool that you keep up some beliefs." She says, and Grace smiles. Iseul skips the nectar too, saying that she’ll join Gracie and not drink tonight. “It’s okay, jaan, I don’t mind if you drink.” Grace says. “Jagiya, I want to.” Iseul says firmly, and Grace gives her a grateful smile.

Alyssa spent the morning preparing a nice Winterfest ham and the two ate and chatted and enjoyed each other’s company. Things have been tense as of late, Alyssa couldn’t understand what was going on with her husband and how he could ever think she would cheat on him, but she was grateful he seemed to be more like himself today.

Winterfest Headcanons
Back when they were "normal" human Sims, Caleb and Lilith celebrated Winterfest like whoa! Seriously, the Whos down in Whoville had nothing on the Vatores down in Willow Creek. The day after Harvestfest, they started to get ready for Winterfest. Edward put the lights up on every inch of the house, Artesia (and Caleb) baked a metric fuckton of cookies and sent cards to everyone and their dog. (Literally.) They posed for family photos to put on the cards. They even met Santa Claus, er, I mean...Clement Frost...er...Father Winter. (And Artesia maaaay have lowkey woohooed him that Winterfest Edward was stuck working.)
Lilith's gingerbread house fell apart because she went a little too ham on the roof frosting. It was supposed to be entered into a contest, and there was no time to fix it. Caleb ran upstairs and dug a Godzilla toy out of storage and placed it next to the collapsed gingerbread house. It won first prize.
After they were turned into vampires, they soon discovered that most of Forgotten Hollow...well, they just didn't do Winterfest. They put their all into Spooky Day, and they gave Talk Like a Pirate Day everything they had, but Winterfest was a no-go. Everything was so dark and gloomy all year round, but it was especially palpable at Winterfest. None of the houses in FH had any lights. Nobody kissed that special someone under the mistletoe. No wreaths decorated the door, unless you count the one at that Garliclauter Place made of garlic. Nobody baked gingerbread cookies or put together gingerbread houses. No stockings hung on the fireplaces, no garlands adorned staircases, and no lights were seen on any roof.
This was their first Winterfest since their parents' passing, their first Winterfest on their own, the first Winterfest since The Incident With Miss Hell, the first Winterfest since their cousin Lily became a werewolf and (Vlad had told them) wanted nothing more to do with them, and the first Winterfest since they turned into vampires. It was also the first Winterfest since they decided they didn't want to follow Vlad's ways.
The night before Winterfest was due to begin, Lilith threw the curtains open, as the snow fell outside. "It's Winterfest," she declared. "Yeah, so?" asked Caleb. He was sulking and nibbling on somewhat stale Winterfest sugar cookies he'd picked up from the store on impulse yesterday. He had been moody ever since The Incident, and well, all things considered, no one could blame him. "So," declared Lilith. "We need this. Let's get our butts in gear and Do Winterfest!" "Why should we?" asked Caleb. "Come on. Mom and Dad wouldn't want to see you sulking on Winterfest, Vampire or no!" replied Lilith. "Besides," she continued. "All those lights, the greenery, the music...I don't think Vlad will like it very much." (If you want Caleb to do something, all you have to do is play the "it will upset Vlad" card. It works every time.) Caleb's blue-grey eyes lit up, and he put down the shit-ass storebought cookie he didn't like much anyway. "Let's do it!"
They spent the night putting lights up all over their house. Garlands on every wall, the staircases, and the porch. The tree right in the window, where everyone could see it. The radio tuned to the Winterfest Music station, loud enough that it could be heard all the way down by the lake. Even their coffins got decked out for the occasion!
The next night, when it was officially Winterfest, Wolfsbane Manor was all lit up. (It even caused a power surge!) Everyone in town looked with wonder and awe at this unusual-for-Forgotten-Hollow sight. Not to be outdone, Vlad went down to his basement and dug out his own holiday decorations box. It was covered with dust and cobwebs, and contained ornaments they don't even make anymore. He set to work putting his own decorations up, and played "Fwingle Fobs" on his pipe organ.
Father Winter stopped by and left a huge pile of presents under the tree, at both houses. He was asked to decide which one he liked better. He decided he was just happy to see lights up at all in Forgotten Hollow, and soon FH joined all the other Sim neighborhoods in getting ready for Winterfest.
Each year, the Vatore-vs-Straud Winterfest Lights rivalry intensified.

Another Winterfest Gone By
Winterfest!
I was curious on what Sun was interested in
And he just likes presents 😂
That’s awesome.
Anyway the day started with… what else? Ruby and Sun fighting
I think Sun is a little ticked at the poor treatment he’s gotten. And he wants to graduate early and go to college and study space all the time.
Ruby chewed him out. For his social anxiety basically.
She doesn’t understand what social anxiety is.
“Why can’t you just talk to people?!”
And Kian is singing in the rain early in the morning
And everyone decorated the tree as usual
And Sun just wanted to spend Winterfest reading his rocket science book.
(I decided not to build the rocket till he has his own house)
Unfortunately he wouldn’t cause Mercury invited us to hang out at the old Mint Gen House to spend Christmas
Which was different. So we accepted.
So we did. The family. Plus Catherine and Kaori
And we had ham at their place
While Sun was uncomfortable and just wanted to read a book
And he decided to be depressed because… depression.
“Why can’t you just talk to people like a normal person?!”
“Because I don’t want to!”
“When are you growing out of this phase, kid?!”
“ITS NOT A PHASE MOM!!! YOU WOULDNT UNDERSTAND! NOBODY WOULD UNDERSTAND!!”
*Proceeds to turn on the radio and blast it full volume*
“GOSH DARN IT I CANT HEAR MYSELF THINK!!! WILL YOU TURN THAT OFF SUN?!?!”
*No answer*
“SUN!!!”
“WHAT?!? CANT HEAR YOU!!! IM FIXING A TOILET FOR AUNTIE PERIDOT!!”
So yeah… he’s also going through a LOUD phase.
I didn’t see this phase coming. But my best story reason guess is that he wanted to tick off his parents.
And we went home to open presents together
Ashlynn got a bear. Ruby got fruit, probably for her cooking. Kian got the third vaccum I’ve gotten out of presents in this game. (you can’t think of anything else game?) And Laurant got a KARAOKE MACHINE?!?!?
Oh boy…
And our boy Sun got…
A REALLY expensive painting of musical cats…
Well whoever got this gift for him doesn’t know Sun at all.

-->And then, finally, the ham was ready, and Victor called everyone to the meal! And then despaired over Alice’s table manners. XD She’s wolfing out, Victor, what do you expect? It was a nice dinner, though, with Smiler putting away the leftovers before joining Victor and Alice in sharing jokes and more Festive spirit while they ate. :) Sometimes I regret giving them the “Withered Stomach” weakness so they can’t REALLY join in, but they make the best of things!
-->After supper, Alice (who was starting to really feel the rage again, despite an earlier Somber Howl -- does Fury go up faster as you go up the werewolf ranks?) retreated upstairs to do some meditation, while Victor did the dishes and Smiler watched a movie (joined by Kelly the kitty, who apparently doesn’t hate the TV the same way she hates the radio) -- just in time for Clement Frost, aka Father Winter to show up! He went and put a few presents under the tree, then headed upstairs to play on Smiler’s laptop for a bit. XD I started making plans on who should chat with him and get their Father Winter personalized present first --
-->And then Alice, having just reached Wellness level 3, suddenly got a bored moodlet with her meditation and stopped doing it. And wouldn’t start again. Despite still openly being pretty damn Furious. Okay then, let’s quickly start with her! I sent her over first to greet Clement and exchange some small talk, then get her gift -- he was nice enough to give her an All-In-One Powerful PC! Which -- is something she technically already HAS, but I think Smiler wouldn’t mind it being regifted to them. XD It’s the thought that counts!
-->After that, it was Victor’s turn for presents -- that is, after everyone had stopped being freaked out by the house making more strange noises. It’s WINTERfest, not SPOOKfest, ghosts! He ended up getting The Incinerator Grill, one of the best grills in the game! Well, that’s nice. . .though, at the time, I also wasn’t sure where to put it. After all, I rather like the cauldron pot grill in the greenhouse for herbalism purposes. . .hmm. . .
Well, we can worry about that later -- because here comes Smiler, ready to receive their present! What wonderful gift did Clement bestow upon them?
#sims 4#the lazy save#victor van dort#alice liddell#smiler always#the smiler#just Victor's face as Alice started horking down her food like that#she's a werewolf#one slowly giving into the beast no less#YOU tell her to eat neatly buddy#but yes good dinner regardless#and Clement is always nice to see#he's buddies with all three of the trio#so they're kinda guaranteed good Winterfests XD#even if he gives them duplicates#as you will see in a future update I DO end up giving the PC to Smiler#I'll have to get Alice something nice in turn#maybe a better camera?#hmmm#queued

Twas the early morning before Winterfest, and all through the house. Only Cameron was stirring, with chess did he joust.
...I’m not continuing those rhymes. He had a whim to go and play chess but seems it’s not working with just playing by himself. Maybe pondering moves would work instead? But first, I set him to work. I set him to work upgrading the solar panels and wind turbine I bought to be unbreakable! ...perhaps not unbreakable with the wind turbine but evidently, if it’s thunderstorming, it’ll be a lightning rod and catch electricity. Sounds nice enough for me! I don’t often use the ground solar and wind turbines and now I have an excuse to since the roof is walkable.
Anyway, today is Winterfest! Only Izzy is super excited for it, as it is presents day! She is a child like that, after all. Anyway, it’s snowy in Windenburg but at least it isn’t blizzarding. Pondering moves for chess didn’t work. Seems it has to be an actual chess game. Alas, Cameron is sleepy. To bed with him!
Izzy wakes up first. She wants to solve hard problems but that doesn’t seem to be an option for child sims. Alas! Lara also woke up, her gloomy moodlet outlasted by the massive boost she got from overclocking her computer! I had her harvest her garlic and tend to her bees. And then, shower time. I then had her workout at the tv before heading off to hack again. Meanwhile, Izzy is just breezing on by her homework. She wants to get that A-grade after all! And after some lunch, she’s off to create some potions.
Anyway, Lara’s hungry and Cameron just woke up so it’s time to make that Grand Meal! I’m going ham. I like ham. Izzy also asked Lara for advice during this and asked what to do about a gift she didn’t want. Lara strikes me as the type to go “Eh, sure re-gift it if you want.” I don’t really have particular plans with Izzy’s character values. Lara and Cameron seem pretty lienient, all things considered. Anyway, with the double-eating, I do kinda want Izzy to play with something in order to keep her physically fine...but there’s nothing really for her around here. And I could place down a monkey bars but...who wants a monkey bars when there’s a swing set! That doesn’t fit on the lot, alas. Oh! But there is yoga! Yoga will do! ...if it weren’t 7PM and it’s nearly time for presents! And by presents, I mean Father Winter showing up with even more presents for everyone!
So in the midst of waiting, I had some father/daughter chatting time. And a cuddle. ‘aww. How sweet and cute.
...if Father Winter doesn’t show up by 11PM, I’m opening these presents myself. A blizzard shouldn’t be able to stop- there he is! Complain of the Father Winter and he shall arrive! Anyway, we got a few decorations for the home for the presents and a toddler book when Izzy asked for an extra one. ...yeah okay Father Winter. Okay.
And with that, Winterfest is done. Lara didn’t actually do too much outside of the dinner and most started work on making a video game. It’s Cameron and Izzy who has a good time. But now it’s just Cameron awake and alone at night. Incidentally, this is when he would go to work but hey, everyone gets Winterfest off! Annnd he got shocked from working on a gardener bot. Bah. Off to bed with ye. That makes it time for-
Neighborhood Watch!

Landcaster Legacy Gen 6 Update #27
A few days later while Ethan had off, Oscar ran away from home. Ethan rushed to the computer to post an alert about Oscar's disappearance. Honestly, he felt pretty bad about the whole thing.
When Mads got home that afternoon Ethan had to break the news to her. "Hey, can we talk?"
"What about?" Mads asked.
"Oscar ran away this morning shortly after you left for work," Ethan immediately tried to comfort a now sad Mads. "He'll come back."
"You're right," Mads agreed.
Later that night, with Oscar still missing, Ethan made Mads dinner while she read to try and cheer her up some more.
Oscar returned later that night all dirty and covered in fleas. Mads tried brushing the fleas out, but that didn't work, so she took him to the vet. There wasn't much the vet was able to do other than let Mads know he'd be better in a few days.
A few days later was Winterfest and Mads and Ethan were excited to decorate the tree together.
"You know," Mads began to say. "I can't wait until we can celebrate Winterfest with our own children!"
"It'll be so much fun, hopefully the next three weeks will go by quickly so we can get to the whole trying for a baby thing," Ethan said.
With such a large family it was sometimes hard, and very chaotic, for Mads to get together with her own family to celebrate, so she invited Ethan's family over while he made them a nice ham dinner.
"Addy!" Mads exclaimed when Ethan's youngest sister arrived. "I have a special gift for you!"
"What is it, what is it!" Adelyn began jumping up and down.
"Open it and find out!"
"Oh, my watcher!" Adelyn exclaimed as she opened the gift. "Thank you so much!"
While Ethan cooked both of his mothers stood in as kitchen supervisor. "Make sure to add enough seasoning," Nicola reminded him
"And you have the oven preheated?" Ember asked.
"I got this Moms calm down," Ethan assured them.
"Who's Hungry?" he called once the meal was finished.
"Booked any gigs since you moved out to Del Sol Valley?" Ethan asked his sister, Tyler.
"As a matter of fact, I have," Tyler bragged. "I'm going to star in a salty suds commercial!"
"Salty suds, really?" Ethan laughed.
"Mom, a little help here."
"Stop teasing your sister."
After eating everyone gathered in the living room to open more gifts. Tyler got a little excited and tried sneaking a gift early. Whatever it was must have not been that good, because she dropped it back into the pile after peaking.
Tyler, Ember, Adelyn and Nicola all opened their gifts. Everyone seemed pleased with whatever they'd received. (And apparently Ember had decided to go swimming right before opening gifts as well).
Mads received a personal tea brewer, and Ethan received a prehistoric bird. Both were thrilled with their presents.
After Ethan's family left, he and Mads spent some time cleaning up around the house.
"I have one last present for you," Mads called once they were done tidying up. She held up a piece of mistletoe and then leaned in for a kiss. "The rest of your gift happens to be upstairs..."

Dear Diary Part 2
Beginning / Next
Dear Diary...
So today was a really busy day! I traveled to my studio in Windenburg to have the grand opening and boy was I glad I checked the weather before I left home because it was snowing and it was SO COLD! I’m already really appreciating Sulani’s warmer weather.
Anyways, I only had a few paintings up because it was only the first day. I didn’t have that high of hopes for a ton of customers.
I did pass out flyers on my way to the studio but it was snowing pretty hard and on top of that, it was Winterfest. I wasn’t sure if anyone would even be willing to at least come by for a look. I mean, I don’t even have the studio decorated all the way just yet.
To my surprise, it only took a few hours before I had some people in the studio looking at MY art and actually interested in what I had on display. IT WAS SO EXCITING!
Mom even stopped by and was actually my first sale. I was kinda of embarrassed but she was so happy for me. I could tell she was on the verge of tears. She couldn’t stay long because she wanted to pick up the house for Winterfest and I promised her I’d stop by for dinner. I love her so much...
I managed to make two more sales before I decided to close up shop for the day. I really didn’t want to but I knew I wouldn’t have enough time to stop by my parent’s house AND paint before bed and I wanted to keep some inventory for tomorrow.
When I finally made it to my parent’s house, my mom was being super clingy and kept hugging me. No, she was CRUSHING me. She congratulated me on my successful first day at the studio and was telling me how much she missed me being home.....I literally haven’t even been on my own more than 2 days...
My brother, Damon, ended up coming to the rescue and we all made Winterfest jokes until dinner was ready. Mom had made a huge ham that we all pigged out on and we listened to some holiday music until it got super late.
Of course, before I left, my dad insisted on lecturing me about all sorts of things like money, my safety, my art studio, and BOYS. It went on for a bit longer than I would have liked but I know he was doing it because he cares about me. I love my family so much and it really meant a lot to me that I got to celebrate my first art sales and Winterfest with them. I’m almost sad that I even bothered moving out...well off to bed I go! yuletide
For Nabrina Winterfest Day 2: Yuletide. This is set in my Before the Devil Breaks Me universe when Lucifer wasn't awful.
Sabrina hummed a Christmas tune as she headed into the kitchen, pressing a kiss to Nick’s cheek. She ignored Zelda’s huff over her choice of tunes, watching as her aunt shifted her newspaper a little higher. Ambrose and Nick were already doling out the different breakfast foods, Salem sitting below them and waiting patiently for a piece of bacon to fall to the ground.
Sabrina headed over to Hilda who was at the stove, working on cooking the eggs. The scent of gingerbread wafted from the oven and Sabrina spotted the batches of icing ready to go once those cookies were cooled.
“Auntie, how hard would it be to accommodate two more people for dinner?” she asked after giving Hilda a quick hug.
“You know I cook for a small army, love, so not difficult at all.” Hilda handed over a mug as Sabrina fiddled with the coffee maker. “Are Rosalind and Theo going to be joining us?”
“No, um,” Sabrina leaned against the counter, pausing for a moment. It was probably best to just come out and say who it would be. “Lilith and my father want to come.”
Hilda nearly dropped the spatula she’d been using for the eggs, sputtering as she looked back over at her niece. Zelda lowered the paper she’d been reading, setting it down on the table, while Ambrose had stopped eating, his fork halfway to his mouth. Only Nick and Salem continued on with what they had been doing.
“The Dark Lord wants to eat with us?” Zelda asked, looking pointedly at her niece.
“I think Lilith is the one who wants to eat,” Sabrina replied as she turned back to the coffeemaker and picked up her mug. She shrugged as she sat down, trying not to make a big deal of the situation.
“She’s a fan of mortal food,” Nick added as he handed a plate of pancakes to Sabrina. “He just wants to spend time together with us.” He arched a brow at how much syrup she was pouring and leaned toward her, adding a whispered, “You still have to come even if you give yourself a stomach ache.”
She stuck her tongue out at him.
“What do I even serve them?” Hilda asked, her face pale as she thought about the menu she’d had planned for ages.
“You don’t have to change anything that you’ve already got planned,” Sabrina started as Zelda clucked her tongue.
“Don’t be ridiculous, Sabrina,” Zelda interrupted. “It needs to be fit for the Dark Lord and Lilith.” She rose, opening one of the kitchen drawers and removed a pad of paper and a pen. “The usuals will not do.”
“I’m pretty sure they’re going to want what you’ve already planned considering how enthusiastically Sabrina talked about it all at our last dinner with them,” Nick replied and Sabrina nodded along with that, but Zelda was already scribbling away on the pad, her sister looking over her shoulder.
Ambrose simply shook his head and added more pancakes to his plate.
“I was just doing a ham--I could possibly manage a turducken, but it takes quite a bit of prep work,” Hilda suggested and Zelda wrote that down. “I’ll have to see if I can find a turkey and we’ll need to give it time to thaw--oh I supposed I could use a spell for that.”
“We always have ham,” Ambrose grumbled. “With that honey glaze and the fresh rolls.” Turducken wouldn’t be the same. Sabrina wrinkled her nose, clearly agreeing with him.
“I think a turducken would work wonders,” Zelda agreed, lips pressed together as she considered the rest of the list. “We’ll need more sides as well.”
“I want ham,” Sabrina started, rolling her eyes as her aunt held up her hand.
“But is that what the Dark Lord will want?” her aunt asked.
“It will be if he knows what’s good for him,” Sabrina grumbled, stabbing at her pancakes a bit viciously.
Ambrose snorted at that, while Nick at least had the decency to hide his laugh behind his elbow.
“I suppose we should do a cake instead of the pie,” Hilda murmured, pulling one of her cookbooks off the shelf. “I’m not sure which would be elegant enough.”
“I’m telling him no if you keep trying to change what you already had planned,” Sabrina butted in, and Zelda slammed the pad of paper down on the counter before she turned to look at the girl.
“You want us to serve a measly apple and pumpkin pie to the devil?” she asked, brow arched as she pursed her lips, clearly thinking that wasn’t enough.
“He wants to try it, Aunt Zelda,” Sabrina replied with a shrug before motioning between herself and Nick. “We’ve been saying that Aunt Hilda makes the best pies around. And the ham, plus the mashed potatoes and the green bean casserole and everything we usually have.”
“Hopefully you told him about the fresh rolls that melt in your mouth,” Ambrose murmured, and Nick gave him a thumbs up. They had definitely included those in their recountings.
Zelda simply stared at the three of them.
“We can use the really good china?” Sabrina suggested in an attempt to get her to come around.
“Of course we are going to use the good china,” Zelda snapped, looking at the lot of them like they had lost their minds. “We’ll need to do a thorough cleaning of the mortuary as well.” Hilda nodded at that, picking up the pad of paper and flipping to a new page to write down what else was needed. “New centerpieces--I expect you all to help with that. Place settings. We’ll need to get some new cloth napkins. Good ones, I’ll send you to collect them from the house in France, Ambrose. You two will be in charge of making sure the Yule tree and everything else is in tip top shape.” She looked pointedly at Nick and Sabrina. “There will be more. Expect to have your set of duties doled out to you later today.”
The three of them let out a groan as the two aunts continued to go over the ever expanding list.
“I told you we should have suggested a Yuletide dinner at a restaurant instead,” Sabrina murmured, poking Nick in the side.
“Pretty sure that would have just given us a different kind of headache to deal with,” Nick countered as he caught her hand, bringing it up to press a kiss to.
“He’s right, cousin,” Ambrose added, before reaching over to snatch a piece of bacon from her plate. “Plus we’d miss out on Aunt Hilda’s apple pie.”
True. And Sabrina really didn’t want to miss out on that pie.

Emerald named her new friend Shiloh, and I have to admit she was a cute little thing and really sweet. She followed us around all day. I could tell she would be a loyal friend to anyone who loves her. I caught myself watching her and giggling as she stumbled all over the place. Between her cute high-pitched squeals, super velvety fur, and the way she tried to run but fell over herself, she reminded me of when Emmy was a tot. I rebuke the spirit of baby fever.
Since the secret was spoiled, Winston and I setup the other things we got for Little Miss Shiloh. We got the most expensive feeder with the programmable auto feed feature for our own sanity. At least if Emmy forgets to feed her, the dog won’t go hungry. We got a box full of cute dog toys and a super cute bed. Shiloh looked like a queen laying in that thing.
We invited Anaya and Billie to join us for dinner, but Billie spent Winterfest with her father, so Nay came alone. Baako is getting very old. This may be his last Winterfest. I imagine Nay must have some complicated feelings right now.
Winston made us a delicious ham dinner and marshmallow squares for dessert. Everyone but me went for the squares. Weirdos.
Later, as we were finishing dinner, Father Winter stopped by just as Emmy was doing her best belly laugh. I personally would have been so embarrassed, but she just laughed. Father Winter thought it was pretty cool too and gave her some tips.
After the belly laugh master class, he gave her a gift saying she had been very good that year and was one of the nicest children on his list. I could have cried. That compliment was an amazing gift to me. I love it when others see my child like I see her. It makes me feel confident that she really is an amazing sim and I’m not being biased.
