The Day Father Pruitt Took Up Running ✝️

The early morning sun stretched its golden fingers across Crockett Island, casting a warm glow over the quaint, sleepy village and awakening its inhabitants to another day of secrets and whispers. Father John Pruitt, the Catholic priest with the air of mystery about him, was out and about, strutting along the beach like a man with a secret to keep.

Oh, my dear, DEAR friend!

I miss you SO much since you went home. Did you have to leave me so soon? It's only July and there's another full, excruciating, hot and BORING month before school starts again. How dare you leaving your best friend alone! Shame on you! 

Yes yes I got my books, thanks for them, and remember you promised to send me more when you get home, or...I won't tell you the big news.

...ok you got me, I'm gotta spill the tea 'cause I can't keep this to myself any longer! Remember that mysterious Catholic priest you liked so much, Father Pruitt, here on ol' Crockett? You kept saying no way he's a real priest he's too good looking...Well, you won't believe what's been going down lately. Ok, I'll try to describe it the best I can. Close your eyes (well not really, silly) and imagine: 

In the hazy light of the dawn, the island's secrets whispers softly as the ocean waves kiss the shore...LOL I know you hate cheesy romance stuff, I'll cut it short. 

Well, he is a tall drink of water, that John Pruitt remember? With a shock of raven-black curls that tumbles down his broad shoulders like a river of midnight. His honey eyes hold a glint of mischief that makes the ladies swoon and the men raise an envious brow....

ok ok I'll stop it. 

And today, he was doing something unexpected – he was jogging! 

Now, let me tell you, that man could make a burlap sack look good, but this morning, he was sporting these green lycra shorts that hugged every inch of his...toned derriere (!) like a second skin.

O-M-G 

He'd clearly been hitting the gym or doing some secret ninja training because those muscles were cut like a goddamn Greek statue. The ladies and gents alike were getting an eyeful, and they couldn't help but blush like school kids caught peeking through a keyhole. I think I saw mom getting an eyeful when he passed by our house - she fumbled with her keys a little too long l, while I was enjoying the show from my bedroom window.

But he wasn't just flaunting his legs, no sir. Father Pruitt had decided to ditch the shirt too, revealing a chiseled chest that looked like it could bench-press a bull. And wouldn't you know it, he'd tied that shirt around his head like some kind of bandana-wearing Casanova. It was like he'd gone from holy man to beach heartthrob in the blink of an eye. As he passed by the shop, the ocean breeze carried a hint of salt, mingling with the intoxicating scent of his masculine cologne, leaving a trail of enchantment in its wake. 

His skin, kissed by the sun and glistening with a sheen of sweat, invited the gentle caress of the ocean's breeze. A small, silver crucifix dangled at his neck, an alluring contrast against the expanse of his smooth, tanned skin.

I just re-read everything and...I need a pause. Brb shortly.

Back with some ice tea.

Well now, and that wasn't even the best part. Oh, no! He had this brand new contraption strapped to his hip – a walkman! You would think is was impossible, right? A priest! Well, he had one, and he was jamming out to God knows what, but you could see the rhythm of the music in the way he moved. It was like he was dancing to a beat only he could hear, and it was damn hypnotic. 

The rest of the day wa a MESS. The whole island was buzzing with rumors and gossip, like a bunch of hens in a henhouse. Everyone was wondering what had gotten into Father Pruitt. Some said he was possessed by the spirit of an ancient warrior, others thought he'd joined some kind of secret cult. But truth be told, no one really knew the man's secrets, and he wasn't about to open the sack to us.

As for me, I couldn't stop watching the show. There was something magnetic about the way he moved, like a predator on the prowl, and I found myself drawn in like a moth to a flame. But as much as I wanted to get closer, I couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation. 

Let me tell you: there is a darkness lurking beneath that charming exterior, and I wasn't sure I wanted to delve into that murky territory.

So here I am, torn between desire and caution, watching from the sidelines as Father Pruitt struts his stuff on the beach like a man with the devil in his pocket. I reckon I'll keep my distance for now and let the island gossips do their thing, but who knows what the future holds? One thing's for sure – Crockett Island ain't never been the same since our enigmatic priest took up jogging.

Well, let me tell you, the enigma of Father Pruitt only deepens with every passing day. It seems that behind those honey eyes and that mesmerizing charm lies a man wrestling with secrets and desires that even the island can't decipher. The walkman he carries? Its melodies secreted in his ears, only adds to the mystery. What does he listen to as he runs, I wonder? Perhaps music that matches the pounding of his heart, the rhythm of his desire, or perhaps even the yearnings of his own hidden soul and...and...

See, I'm turning into a goddamn romance chick already. Shush me. But now, the gossip: 

You see, for the past (few) year(s?), Father Pruitt has been caught in the clutches of an unrequited (we think) love. Nobody knows who this mysterious "someone special" is, but the island is rife with rumors. Some say it's a long-lost love from his past, while others whisper that it might be an otherworldly muse that has captured his heart. Whatever the case may be, it's clear that this unrequited affection has left him moping and maybe indulging a bit too much in that... holy wine.

But while his heart may be heavy, his sermons are nothing short of divine. The whole island treats him like their "special" person, all brawn and no brains - you know we've never been really *churchy* here beside one or two devoted families - but they can't deny the wisdom that flows from his lips. He may be easy on the eyes, but he's got a soul that's as deep as the ocean, and the island can't help but keep an eye on him.

Beverly Keane, the woman who handles everything for him, from keeping the church clean to managing his appointments and finances, thinks she's got him wrapped around her finger. She's a piece of...well you get me. And truth be told, she wouldn't mind getting a little more than she bargained for from the handsome priest. After all, he's a snack, and who could resist a taste? Duh...

But there's more to Father Pruitt than meets the eye (and that's a LOT!). He may be a bit slow on the uptake when it comes to romantic advances (well, priest), but he's fiercely devoted to two things: God and his secret love. And let me tell you, it's a secret that's locked away tight. 

He likes flowers, did I tell you that? He picks some every goddamn day and brings them to his cabin - you know, the little house behind the church - and with the emergence of his morning jogs, a new facet of Father Pruitt has come to light. Not only is his our prohibited heartthrob (eheh), but he's also taken up carpentry like a man possessed. After his invigorating run, he spends the rest of the day fixing things around the church. From patching up the rooftop with the help of some local boys (Julius and Earl mostly) to mowing the yard shirtless when no one's watching (sure man), he's become a man of action, a handyman who can make even the toughest task look like a breeze.

The island may see him as a bit of an oddity, a priest who spends more time outside fixing things than he does inside praying. But let me tell you, there's a profound beauty in the way he connects with the world around him. He may be a man of God, but he's also a man of the earth, working with his hands and pouring his heart into every task. 

I think they want to put him on Crockett's brochure and promote it as a local attraction on the mainland. 

I'm not saying I was the one who suggested it. 

So, my dear friend, the mystery of Father Pruitt continues to deepen with every day that passes. Love, desire, and devotion swirl around him like a tempest, and the island can't help but be drawn into the storm. But one thing's for sure – whether he's jogging along the beach or mending the church's rooftop, Father Pruitt has become more than just a priest; he's become a force of nature, and I'm truly happy to witness this miracle.

Hey, so, I know I only ever reblog but I wanted to share a hc about toh that I've had for a while that connects a lot of things that are recently on the internet.

So we all have heard Hunter singing she-wolf and a bunch of other songs, so I want to share what, I think, are the gang's music taste.

Luz is definitly a "I listen to every kind of music" kid, like from classic pop (Elvis, Madonna, Gaga, Shakira, Taylor, Katy, ofc Lana del Rey) to Kpop and definitly some rap and 2000's reggaeton (Eminem, Don Omar and ofc Ozuna), probably electronic music too, specially Alan Walker, and definitelysome rock and metal (Queen, Kiss, Mäneskin, etc). Like EVERY kind of music. So when they got to the human realm, they couldn't sleep the first nights so she played them music and they all liked it but they had their preferences.

(I feel like they all loved Taylor Swift but they have different fav albums).

Amity DEFINITLY LOVED Lana del Rey and metal, a lil bit more than Luz cuz she definitly likes kpop the most, but Amity is all about heavy music and lyrics with cussing. Her fav Taylor's album is probably folklore and/or Speak Now and def reputation.

Gus absolutly adored music in spanish, and yes, I mean the kind of music that Camila listens to(if you're latino like me yk what I mean), adding reggaeton to that list and pop. His fav Taylor's album is 1989.

Vee's music taste is very similar to Gus's but she LOVES kpop and rap and likes to vibe to it with Luz. Her fav Taylor's album is reputation, although she likes Fearless too.

Hunter..... I think you know where I'm going with him. He is all in for pop, we all thought he was gonna be all grunge but he turned out to be a cute nerdy dork so I think it goes the same with his music taste. But I think he's really similar to Luz, like he loved all kind of music and after hearing a lot of music in spanish with Gus he really improved in the language; also, he had bi panics with music videos. I think he listens to Maroon 5 religiously and sings Animals unironicaly. His fav Taylor's albums are Red, 1989, Lover and he takes "the rep era" too literally.

Willow, my girl, absolutly adores pop too BUT she fell in love with slower kind of music, she became the biggest swiftie, like, absolutly adores her whole discography, specially evermore (she got really excited when she saw a song with her name), Fearless and Lover, she also likes some songs of Debut; yeah she listens to other artists too but the most of her playlist is Taylor.

Also, after she and Hunter started hanging out more, they listened to Lover together and that's a cute connection they have, and later on, when they started dating, they went on picnic dates with that album as soundtrack.

(All of them LOVED Midnights).

So yeah, that's a really big hc I've had in my mind.

1. favorite fic you wrote this year This is tough but I think… and it’s peaceful in the deep. I’m proud of it because I planned it more than most fics I write lol, and I am really happy with the end result. I think a lot of times i kind of miss the mark with what I originally intended… I do like that because I like seeing what results and what people take away from it. But with this fic, I told the story I originally intended to tell, and I was really proud of that focus.

23. fics you wanted to write but didn’t I went trawling in the trenches for this lol, I forget a lot of ideas when I move on from them. I had a Mass Effect longfic I started that went through all the games, and I ended up doing the same thing as I did for DA, using it as a springboard… I think I also had some Bollywood fics I never finished, and two separate DA modern AU/romcom-type things that lost steam. (One was supposed to be an exchange fic inspired by Four Weddings and a Funeral, but I couldn't get it to work in time) I also had a western AU for DA that fizzled out, so that’s fun.

Simran puts a disc into the player—Madonna, The Cranberries, The Goo Goo Dolls, she’s squirreling them away with a little part of each paycheck.

Maybe once a week, she’ll put on one of her old tapes, something swing, or one of her father’s songs—she listens to them for only half a minute or so before she has to switch them off, and only when she’s alone, only when she can put the hurt away for later. She can never seem to hide these things from Raj. She only has one tape from her father, and it's been in the box long enough it's beginning to gather the lightest layer of dust.

Raj comes through the door just as the soft chords of “Linger” filter into the air, dripping water into the entryway. She can imagine him standing on the mat, beads of water on his coat catching the hallway light as he slips out of his shoes, and it’s all a poem: the rolling thunder underscoring the music, the fat drops rolling down the leaves and pouring from their waxy surfaces—

—right onto her face, and she opens her eyes to find Raj grinning down at her, his dimples on full display as a trickle of water disappears down her blouse.

“Chi—“ she scolds him as she pushes his head away, “I’ll have to clean all that up—“

“I’ll mop it,” he promises, folding one hand over hers where it still rests on his face. He presses his cheek to hers and she can smell his cologne, shivers at the cold dampness of his chest pressing into her back as she lets her eyes fall shut again.

“Come here,” she gently urges, tugging at his hand until he circles the sofa and sits next to her, and then until he lies down with her, both of them hopelessly wet now and bringing the upholstery down with them.

“How was it?”

“It was good,” she whispers, enjoying the soft puffs of his breath on her skin. “I liked the passage they picked.” She came home straight after the exam, the rain discouraging her from any larks to a cafe or the library.

“I was going to stop by the bakery on the way home, but this is an even sweeter surprise,” he says in a syrupy voice. She scoffs even while her chest flushes with warmth.

“Do you want me here waiting for you every day?” she teases.

“As nice as it would be to be greeted by the moon herself every night,” and he brushes a kiss across her cheek as she laughs, “Never. I’d never want to take you from school like that. From your life.”

“You’re my life, too.”

“Not like that,” he says, his voice so fond that she feels she could do anything right now and he’d not have a word against her. “Do you want to order in for dinner?” And he’s off to the latest banal concern, and she’ll never quite get used to how he sees the world, flipping through matters of such gravity and the smallest things like flicking on a switch.

“It’s not Friday.” Can we afford it, will we be good enough to cook Friday instead—

“We can swing it,” he says. “You like Indian?”

She tosses her pillow at his head.

I’m sorry but I absolutely reject this idea that Kylie is such a departure from his public image. She actually makes loads of sense when you look at Timmy’s dating history. The kid will tell anyone who listen that his mentor is Leo and he’s also made it known that he might not ever settle down and have kids. Like the kid is a fame whore and a social climber who just happens to pick good projects. Timmy has never hid who he was or what he was about. This is just the first girl the public doesn’t deem “acceptable” for him to date. But his having sex in hot tubs in front of paps, or making out with random girls at Coachella in front of everyone never really screamed “intellectual thespian” I’m so sorry to break it to whoever thought that.

Epic year for my music .A number of releases this year that set the format for “college radio”. You got REM, violent femmes, U2, new order, X, Billy idol, tears for fears, eurythmics, talking heads

A banner year for Pop music. Thriller got released late 1982, so that was a mainstay,then in 83’ a 24 y/o New Yorker named Madonna released her self titled debut album, Lionel Richie with a record that had five top 10 hits, Billy Joel- his top record-innocent man, U2, journey

Rock ‘n’ roll was more 60s rockin than 80s synth rock. x, quiet riot, ZZ Top, David Bowie, the police, Genesis, U2, Rolling Stones, motley Crew, and Def Leppard starting the hair metal bands.

And got some hard ass punk rock with acts like Bad Brains & Suicidal Tendencies…ALL I WANTED IS A PEPSI!!!!

- [ ] U2: War - full on rock n roll masterpiece with guitar driven politically charged songs.

- [ ] U2: Under the Bloody Red Sky- introduced Red Rocks to the world outside of CO. A truly majestic place that hosted the greatest over the decades. More on red rocks during 2013 year in review

- [ ] Genesis - genesis. Departing the DnD world of prog rock I believe made them better artists. Def richer ($$$) ones. Mama, illegal alien, That’s All…HITS!

- [ ] The Police: Synchronicity (A&M). Don’t know if ever listened to it cover to cover . The 4 hits off the record are all back to back midway through the record. Murder By Numbers a great last song.

Revisits and new finds

- [ ] ESG- come away with ESG. Damn! This sounds like a 2024 Z-ster release that would get a 8.5+ on pitchfork. 80s club music (find of the year)

- [ ] Cure - Japanese Whispers. An early-ish release w a couple solid goth/synth tracks

- [ ] Liquid liquid - tremendous! Funk, punk, hip hop. Contains the “Cavern” the original white lines

- [ ] Replacements -hootennanny. Lots of noise between a few good tracks. Sounds like they just recorded everything they did and put it out in this record

- [ ] Keith Jarrett - standards Vol 1. Trio s dejenette and Peacok. Got bias here. I’m a big Keith Jarrett fan & this is one have the best trios of all time and jazz, in my opinion.

like, billy is the kinda sleazy rock and roll type dude. he smokes more often than he breathes regular air, he drinks with reckless abandon, has intense rage issues and fucks his way through the girls in his year without a second thought

he’s going to be listening to twisted sister, to mötley crüe, to scorpions, def leppard

all of these bands subscribe to the typical rock and roll lifestyle of singing about sex, how much sex they have, how much they drink and do drugs and how much they love motorcycles

eddie is a metalhead in the 80’s; he’d decidedly not listen to the bands mentioned above, because the subject matter in metal music is decidedly different. it’s less about bragging and more about singing about specific themes. religion, war, fantasy, sci-fi, they’re more story songs instead of bragging. the music is usually heavier too.

all in all, there’s also more room in his repertoire for older stuff, i’d say. we know he loves dio, he loves sabbath (probably heaven & hell) but he also deeply respects ozzy, so he’s probably listened to their entire discography. led zeppelin and jimi hendrix are probably also part of his record collection, as a guitar player

overall i think jonathan has the most eclectic music taste, listening to bands like talking heads and the clash canonically. he’d probably enjoy the smiths too, i bet. i think he and eddie overlap the most in their tastes, but i think jonathan could also be found listening to actual punk bands and some new wave.

robin is a true new wave, 70’s female artists enjoyer to me; joan jett, the runaways, soft cell, the smiths, depeche mode, tears for fears!!! she’s THERE

which brings us to steve: like, bob seger enjoyer!! eagles, billy joel, bruce springsteen, queen, creedence clearwater revival!! he’s thee dad rock king and he loves tears for fears bc robin introduced him to it!! he tells eddie that he KNOWS who bon jovi is in a huff
