Do you think one of the reasons Mike was so upset about Max at first was because he was usually the one that made the friends for the group? Like, he’s the one who reaches out and brings people in, and suddenly Lucas and Dustin are doing it without even consulting him, and for a kid who’s supposed to be the “leader,” that’s about the most earth-shattering blow there is. He didn’t get the chance to even know her well before she was suddenly around all the time and no no that’s not right, that’s not how it works, they’re not even considering how he’d feel about it??

There are so many timeskips within the flashback! My flow and pacing are wheezing!#I loved how this scene starts with the crowd's point of view. The observations and gossip add a lot.#And it helps reposition us to what the external perspective is on these two. Namely that 'they don't get along.'#Tensions are known! Even here in Nouveau Lotus Pier.#Ah...Lan Wangji never got a chance to see the Lotus Pier of Wei Wuxian's childhood and adolescence...did he?#It's not the same. He's not the same. Call them by the same name and people will know what you mean...#...but the first version - the one with the fond memories - is gone for good.#It's sort of interesting isn't it? How names can hold so much power and still be hollow?#We often get stuck over past versions of things. Be it ourselves or other people or places.#Change is scary but the truth is nothing ever stays the same. It's always moving. You're always moving.#It's okay to mourn the past. Maybe it's people you lost or the person you hoped to be. Let yourself feel the grief.#And then? Then you grow around that pain and keep on going. LWJ's string technique is one of my favoyrite things.#We do get a fair amount of LWJ fighting but I always loved how the theme of strings comes into play.#There is actually a lot to unpack with LWJ being associate with 'strings'.#The musicianship: Of dedication and rigor in one's practice.#The tension between following along a path or composing your own way forwards (playing what has been written vs composing)#A string is a tightly coiled/taunt entity; The same tension that makes it sing so beautifully can be it's downfall if pushed too hard.#And as a non-musical string - something that binds. Be it to his sect and family or how he binds his fate to WWX -#LWJ cannot exist without his binds. It is not something which ties him down though. It keeps him together.#And he himself *is* a bind. He 'ties wwx down' in ways that are initially negatively viewed ('come to gusu' - feels like: come be trapped)#But later it is shown how (despite being introduced as a free spirit) WWX truly wants to be bound to something and someone.#Marriage is a bind he wants. He wants to be tied and grounded by LWJ.#It's starting to sound like innuendo. Let's call his fondness for being literally tied up smart thematic writing.#Finally. Sex scenes that are important to the plot and characters

Actually! The moment Bramble stops being suspicious of Hawkfrost is when he's jealous of Squilf's magical telepathic bond to her sister. It's like spite. It fascinates me that you can read it as though Brambleclaw is being consumed by jealousy, trying to have everything that Squilf does, as though his "hatred" of her is coming from envy.

Overanalyzing again but I'm such a fan of Bulma gradually gaining her faith in Vegeta back over his rounds at the tournament that revisited/tested the Two Big Things he fucked up real bad in Z when put into a competitive environment:
Performative Overconfidence (Frost/Cell Saga)
Relapsing into Old Habits/Establishing Dominance Over Another Saiyan (Cabbe/Buu Saga)
Their relationship seeming so much more casual/comfortable after this arc, too, makes me think/headcanon a lot about Bulma getting to see Geets being in complete, confident control over his intentions and his mentality in what in the past have been very tempting situations, and getting proof that those are things she doesn't need to worry about anymore. Gets to see actual, practical receipts of her boy's recovery in a high-pressure situation.
And of course I love Trunks always being Papa's #1 Hype Man.
