hello! Ashes AU author here. I am here to confirm Batting Canon: Oscar: batted 3 for Haileybury and Victoria, currently bats 6 for Australia (because, well, he's a rookie and ain't nobody dislodging Steve, Marnus and Ussie for a rookie). Already earmarked as future 3 in Tests. Bats 6 in ODIs for Australia and bats 4 for Victoria in the Big Bash, but does not play T20s for Australia (yet).

Logan: batted 11 for Haileybury and Middlesex at the beginning of his career (since he could only master one skill at a time). Graduated to 9 for Middlesex, but bats 10 for England in both Tests and ODIs (because no-one dislodges Jimmy Anderson from 11). Bats 8, of all places, in T20s because sometimes he just likes to go back to his American roots and swing it like a baseball bat and in T20s, that kinda works.

Oscar: second or third slip, depending on the team makeup and who is bowling. The other reason he and Logan were called the loscar show at Haileybury was because Oscar is a safe pair of hands for sharp edges. When the field goes back, he usually trots off to square leg.

Logan: like most young fast bowlers, he patrols at fine leg - or Fine Leg-an as some Middlesex fans have taken to calling it. Though he's a decent catcher, the rules around bandaging on bowlers' fingers mean the captains don't want to risk him closer in.

Hair: White with flecks of black, in a choppy kind of cut that falls in his face far more often than he would like. His ears and tail (which is fluffy because of course it is) are white with mingling grey.

Eyes: pale grey

Build: slender, slight

Common Accessories: A satchel resting across his chest and at his side, usually containing various plants, medical supplies, salves, etc, as well as a journal and other odds and ends. Almost always wearing some kind of cloak or outer robe with a hood. A stave. He wears a brace on his left leg though it is hidden in his boot and most people never know about it.

Profession:  Conjurer. Most often affiliated with the Conjurers in Gridania, who he assists within the Twelveswood. He’s taken to a bit of wandering in the last few years, visiting the other citystates.

Skills: Conjury. He is also a Hearer, though he doesn’t often admit as much. A fairly decent healer using mundane techniques as well and, retaining some of his Keeper heritage, a surprisingly good tracker.

Languages: Eorzean Common, bits and pieces of whatever Sylphs speak.

Residence:  He calls Gridania home, though he doesnt have a permanent residence

Birthplace: The Twelveswood

Religion: Lyrin’a is undecided in how he feels about the twelve. He does give respect to Menphina as any good Keeper should though.

Patron Deity: Menphina, the lover

Fears: Fire, helplessness, and to a lesser extent dragons

Personality:  Lyrin’a comes across as very pensive and even a little melancholy. That said he tries very hard to be a comforting presence to those around him. He doesn’t often have much to say, but if one got to know him they might find that the quiet Keeper could be rather chatty. He can seem a bit lost in the moment, like he’s listening to something others around him can’t quite hear. He has a great love for his forest home but he’s drawn to the other beautiful places in Eorzea as well- the oceans and mountains, snow blown valleys and humid tropical reaches. The miqot’e has an inquisitive nature and it isn’t beyond him to straw from beaten paths if something looks intriguing off trail.

* Need a conjurer?: Cliche as it may be, needing a conjurer is probably the fastest way to get his attention. He takes his duty to the art seriously and genuinely wants to help people. Whether its to heal a minor wound or tend to a weird feeling in the twelveswood he’s unlikely to turn you down. ( He might not seem especially keen of people traipsing through the twelveswood but he also doesnt want anyone eaten by the greenwrath)

* He’s probably easy to pick on outside of Gridania: Lyrin’a isnt accustomed to life in large cities like Uldah or the customs of Ishgard. It’s likely he’s going to make some kind of mistake and out himself as an outsider.  *Maybe they’ve met before:  I’m perfectly happy figuring out a way they’ve met before and are already acquaintances. Maybe they are vague friends or colleagues, or maybe they’ve known each other for years for one reason or another. Skip the awkward get to know you phase and get right into the silly bickering.

What am I looking for? Anything. Friend, foe, rival, frenemy, possible love interest, possible hate interest, anything is game. Long term is loved but one offs are fine as well. I’m still a bit new to some of the FFXIV lore beyond ARR having just come back to the game so bear with me while I feel my way through things.

29. What is one of the most courageous things your character has ever done for a loved one?

local man breaks Lawful Neutral alignment because he cares about his best friend, who is at the point of doing anything in the pursuit of knowledge. more at eleven.

33. If your character wanted to be alone, where would they go?

as much of a dorito gremlin and shut in as he is, andre “sleeps on the couch despite living in a two bedroom home” undecided last name doesn’t Mind the occasional venture into the outdoors.

during one of his lows he just sort of left the house for a couple hours. he returned and provided nerys with the simple explanation of “hiking”

36. Does your character have any medical conditions? Are they serious or minor? Do they affect their day to day life?

andre has bipolar ii and chronic migraines. the former affects him A Lot and is mainly the cause for his hour long hiking trips or day long avoiding people trips. the former affects him a lot in the “im in pain all the time” way and he has stated it “sucks ass.”

37. What are some of your character’s pet peeves? What are some things that annoy them or disgust them?

andre doesn’t like when people just enter the home and don’t take their shoes off at the door. they’re just tracking mud into the house? have these people no humanity?

when he first meets laila and troye he spends a good thirteen minutes staring at the floor contemplating if they didn’t hear him say “take your shoes off at the door” he interrupts nerys’s speech about sirens to tell them that they still have their shoes on.

38. What kind of weather does your character like? Cloudy skies, rainy days, sunshine, etc?

andre: -looks out of the window to see the rain falling from a cloudy sky- “nice”

39. When people look at your character, is there some assumption they might make about them just by appearance? Is that assumption correct?

andre looks at troye when he first meets him. he takes in troye’s appearance, and his t-shirt with the pieces symbol on it.

“you like astrology, don’t you?” he asks, looking up at troye.

“how did u know?”

40. Does your OC have any guilty pleasures they enjoy? Hobbies, past times, music, etc that they wouldn’t want known by others?

andre once got drunk and created an elin on tera online. he lives in regret. he also once listened to same love by macklemore and shed a tear.

“yeah macklemore.” he whispers, “im gay”

42. Is there anything in your character’s past that they regret, haunts them, or they wish they could change?

if andre had power over it he would retcon his entire upbringing which was generally complicated and weird.

he often thinks about how he’s chosen the path he’s on, which is basically like the neutral route. he actively steers clear of actions that could change the future more than he would like (unlike his mother) but he doesn’t ignore the fact that he’s a psychic altogether (like his uncle would do) and when he thinks about that for too long he thinks about if he were actually raised by his mother, and how that would change him. and he hates thinking about it, but if he had been raised to worry less, to hate his own abilities less, he could be better off.

(or he could be worse. he resists the urge to see the possibilities himself) 

43. Does your character have a switch that changes aspects of their personality whether they are around friends, family, etc. Is there someone who gets to see their true self?

if andre hasn’t met you before than he has literally no personality traits. did you mention his favorite band? andre’s never heard about them. what does he like to do in his free time? sleep, he says with a dry tone. you must be at least level eight to unlock his tragic backstory.

andre is reserved around generally everyone. less so nerys and achilles than he is anyone else, the former being his best friend and the latter being his datefriend.

he feels more comfortable disclosing things to achilles, due to the fact that achilles is a good secret keeper, and a good listener, and just a good (mer)person.

44. Is there a particular event that would emotionally devastate your character?

ive said it before but like nerys or achilles getting hurt would be absolutely devastating for andre. they are absolutely his best friends, and he just. can’t imagine a life without them.

which makes certain developments that nerys goes through… a conflict.

50. If your character confessed love to their crush, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc, what would they say?

andre is really super hesitant to confess to achilles, and achilles confesses to andre multiple times but really, really vaguely. andre is unsure if they are Real confessions, and doesn’t know how to ask. realistically it goes sort of like:

“So uh,” Andre says, “you’re gay.” A fantastic start.

“Yes.” Achilles smiles, leaning against the edge of the pond.

“And I’m gay.” Andre gestures between the two of them, before remembering that Achilles cannot see and therefore cannot appreciate this weird back and forth gesture of gay. “We’re gay.”

“Indeed.”

“So do you ever think of, like,” Andre stops, thinking about his life’s decisions. And if Achilles counts as a mammal. Do mermaids give live birth? Something tells Andre that that seems impossible. Do mermaids have that sort of platypus loophole in the event that they don’t give live birth? Andre will have to think about this on another day, when he’s not confessing about his crush on a cute boy. “being gay, together.”
