jason probably took longer then annabeth to realise luke’s ‘changes’ and accept it not just because he’s technically known luke longer but because he was extremely blinded by it, and extremely refused to believe that luke of all people would do that. he denied it so deeply but at the same time, refuted everything luke afterwards. it was like he believed it but at the same time, he really couldn’t and it was tearing up his heart and head that someone he cared and someone who he thought cared about him would do that.

Jason’s C-PTSD is caused by the events of his mother’s abuse, neglect & alcoholism, as well as the way he was fighting monsters on the run for a few years on the streets with Thalia, Luke and eventually Annabeth. None of this was helped with the war(s) he went through nor with Hera erasing his memories, not only once but twice.

Negative Self Worth, Loss of System of Meaning & Detachment of Trauma are the reasons as to why he has C-PTSD more so then PTSD, as well as feeling like he’s not who he is with others, depersonalisation & finding relationships hard to keep ( in fear of them abandoning him )

JASON’S TATTOO’S!

jason decided that he didn’t like that he just had the SPQR ‘tattoo’ on his right arm, with the three lines. so, she started to get his own little tattoo’s of things to remind him of those he was close too.

WING; side of left wrist

this one is for luke castellan, the guy who he admired, the guy he basically treated like a god, the guy he called family. and yes, for the the guy who betrayed his trust, and broke his heart at the tender age of ten/eleven. people where shocked when they heard about the tattoo, but in the end, luke did something right, and he fought for his family. that jason believed luke to have been misguided and how easily that could have been him. basically, luke was like the older brother jason never truly had growing up. at this point in time, at the age of twenty three, jason has fully forgiven luke for his wrongs and only wishes him peace in the underworld.

PINETREE; inner left wrist

it’s pretty simple, it’s a pinetree to symbolise his sister and that while she may not be with him all the time, that she is there with him. a symbol of the one person who never gave up on him, the one person who loved him from when he was a kid to how he is now. this was his first tattoo.

OWL; middle of left forearm

this owl for annabeth, sits right above the pinetree he has for his sister. this was his second tattoo. for the girl who had been there by his side when things were rough. for the girl he grew up with and knows will always have his back, and he hers.

WATER COLOURED GEOMETRIC HEART; inner left upper arm

this one is simply for piper, a girl who helped him when he lost his memories the second time & become a good friend of his, right up there with annabeth.

WATER COLOURED DRAGON; left shoulder

for leo, he got a dragon. for leo helped him and became his friend when he didn’t have too. got this one at the same time as piper’s after percy’s

WAVES; inner left forearm

this one sits above annabeth’s tattoo, and it’s for percy. for the friendship the developed over the years, and was his fourth tattoo, after luke’s.

DOVE & HAMMERS; left & right above elbow

for silena and beckndorf, a tragic love story broken by war. people he grew up with at camp, who were so close to reaching their dreams, of going to college and living their best lives, only to have it cut short by the war. it’s a reminder that love will prevail, that life can end so quickly

SPEARS; inner upper arm right

for clarisse, for she was one of the few people he could count on to not treat him any different, someone who he knows cares for him, for a reminder that even the strong have their breaking point.

a few things about the relationship with jason, hazel, reyna & frank and how they might have changed in my au

the whole prophecy was pushed a year or two.

jason spent a year in camp jupiter, and quickly rose ranks

he arrived just before nico brought hazel in ( maybe a week )

frank also still arrives when he does, so in this au, there is a friendship and they have meet before hera plucks jason out once again

honestly not much changes between the realtionship with reyna & jason, it’s just the amount of time knowing each other is shorted down to a year

he tries to make hazel not feel like an outsider as much, due to her parentage, because he too feels it

all of jason’s tattoo’s are more for reminders of people, and those he cared about. they;re for personal reminders, of the love he’s been given, to remember those lost so they never will be forgotten. they also serve as a reminder that he is loved, that people do care about him even when he feels like they don’t, or that they will abandon him

anyway, jason totally gets a tattoo to remind him of thalia and, to the shock of everyone, luke too. because luke was a big part of his life. luke was misguided and while jason is still upset over the way luke did things, he at the time of the tattoo being itched into his skin, has forgiven luke. this is like when jason is like twenty three.

he is also the sentimental type and would end up with one for like everyone. like a full on sleeve on his left arm. like there is an owl for annabeth, a pinetree / agesis for thalia, wings for luke, waves for percy, hearts for silena, for piper, corssed hammers for beckndorf, for leo. spear for clarisse

facts are, leo would hide or deny a crush. you could be like ‘do you have a crush on *insert name*?’ and he be like, cheeks heating up and like ‘what? no! why would i not like he’s cute or anything!’

jason would admit but not open. you could ask him, and nine times out of ten, he’d answer ‘yes, i do have a crush on *insert name*’ other times he will just shake his head, and go ‘no.’ even if he did

piper, would beat around the bush about it ‘no, i do... okay maybe i think they’re cute... or whatever, they have a nice personality. but, it’s whatever.’

when thalia had come back, the zeus cabin wasn’t as cold and unlived in, as jason had been in there, for the past five years. he had a bed, and put up a headboard to block out his father’s statue as much as possible.

he totally slept next to her for like at least two weeks when she came back to life. it was more of a way to let him know she is truly here and alive and this wasn’t some sick dream.

little baby - ten year old jason things

thalia & his mother were his only social interactions. his mother tried to put him into a daycare / preschool, but there would be times when he would get very upset and well. he had no control over his powers and thunder and lighting would come down around. the mortals didn’t know how to explain it, but they knew it was jason’s fault. so, they kicked him out.

when thalia was at school, jason stayed in his room. he didn’t like it when his mother was home and thalia wasn’t. jason also very much accidentally charged the door with electricity when ever their mother would come near. it was like a defensive thing his powers were doing.

he looked so much up to thalia, and when they found luke, luke too. he had this thing where it was like ‘if luke or thalia did this, so can i!’ this has resulted in injuries & one piercing.

at camp, annabeth & luke were the only ones he would talk to for a while. the only ones he’d hold conversations with.

he was always scared that luke and ananbeth will go like his sister.

so when the went on quest, he was on full panic mode. when luke was on his, jason would always look out for luke, and be as close to annabeth as possible.

when luke got back, jason stayed by his side - not caring about the new scar that lined his face. he thought it made luke look more badass and even stated that.

when annabeth went on her first quest, with percy, luke was there to comfort him, telling him that annabeth will make it back safely. jason never did pick up that luke only ever said annabeth was the one he promised would come back. because jason just thought that, luke was saying annabeth specifically because of their friendship / family.

jason was so scared of losing another family member.

Jason has started to show his ability with lightning & electricity when he was four years old, a year before him and Thalia ran away. It started with him, getting nightmares, but they weren’t demigod dreams, no these were of his his mother, because this was around when he was starting to fully digest his mother’s behaviours and it was sinking into him, causing him nightmares. He woke up one night, with a huge electrical charge around him, that the lights where flickering and a bulb in another room blow because of him.

Thalia had then started to teach Jason how to control the lightning. The only time, he had no control - for the longest of times was when he had nightmares. Thalia being the only one to actually touch him to wake him up.

That had lead to some very big lightning storms once he was at camp half blood. For, no one could wake him up from any nightmares, they had to let it play out, or risk being electrocuted. And up until the age of ten years old, almost a year before Percy’s arrival, had the whole camp known when Jason was having a nightmare.

Luke and Annabeth, they’re the ones who would often go and check up on Jason in Cabin One after a nightmare. There had been one practically bad nightmare, he was eight years old, and a nine year old Annabeth was the one who came into the cabin. She knew the rule, of waiting before placing a comforting hand on Jason, but this nightmare had been so bad, he had an extra charge. It was of a lot of things, of war, of Tartarus and a voice, of Thalia dying on the Hill. That when Annabeth had reached out, he had sent a electrical current through her. He screamed out for help, afraid of touching her himself, and he spent the next week or two, avoiding Annabeth, afraid of doing more damage to her, despite her trying to come to him.

It was Luke who bridged the gap, telling him that Annabeth doesn’t blame him, that none of them do. It was an accident, and Annabeth misses her friend. 

Learning to try and control his powers while he slept, took a while but he had gotten there eventually.

Jason uses lightning as a weapon, against monsters only. He refused to willingly use it against another camper. And using too much, can drain him and make him extremely tired. After, the Battle of the Labyrinth, Jason had taken a solid three hour nap because  that was how much he had exhausted his powers.

After losing his memory, he lost his control over his powers, especially in his sleep. He quickly re learnt how to use them while awake, but not when he was a sleep. It scared some of the Fifth Cohort members, and eventually, a Vulcan kid made something to try and contain any lightning that Jason might produce when he slept so he wouldn’t harm any other campers.

Once, again, when losing his memory, he lost control & he is still trying to control his powers in his sleep, it will probably, once more take a few years for him to do so.

people at camp, asking if jason and luke are related, via mortal parent and jason just, accepting it because he is just like, in so much awe of luke. luke who took care of him and helped him and his sister, and annabeth.

jason, feeling sick when people tell him he reminds them of luke after the betrayal because it hurts him. because he use to be so proud of that fact, and now, it’s a tainted thought due to luke’s actions.

jason & eyesight / glasses

his eyes sight hasn’t always been correct. they haven’t always been the right way for a long time. but, he learnt to deal with it. his mother, never noticed and thalia, she couldn’t afford to do anything about it. so, he went his whole life, needing glasses, but not getting them. when he had reached camp, he still didn’t say anything about it because it was a less pressing issue. he’d learnt to deal with it and adjust to it.

but, once he was at camp jupiter, after having his memories of camp half blood wiped, he had to relearn to adjust to the aching his eyes would give him.

when hera happened, he fought so hard to not let anyone know about his sight issue, they had a war coming up, his eye sight could take a back door. but, he failed to realise that putting of getting his eyes checked caused them to worsen. so by the end of the war with Gaea, he can no longer ignore and push past it. he sought out help and got himself a pair of glasses.

his habits with his glasses are strange. he tends to forget to take them off before he goes to sleep. they tend to sit in the middle of his nose, so his eyes just see out of the glass. he cleans them on his shirt. when he does take off his glasses, hooking them onto the front of his shirt like someone does with sunglasses.

jason has a fear of losing those he cares about, or being abandoned, because when thalia does come back, she tells him the story of that day, of how something didn’t sit right. and then, of course, when hera does finally get her claws into jason? he realises that his mother was going to abandon him, that fear he has had since then. honestly, every time thalia went to school, he feared she wouldn’t come back. and boy did that get worse when he did lose her, first to death, then to the hunters. and then, both camps never went looking for him. granted, chb thought he was dead, but no one questioned why his body wasn’t found, they just put it down to a monster getting it.

jason, when nico first arrived was jealous of nico. in the sense that, nico was this ten year old kid who was so full of life, who thought being a demigod and that the gods being real was awesome, and would be fun experience. because, jason never had that. he never knew or thought of the demigod life to be a fun experience. it’s always been monsters and on the run, or holed up at camp, training.

he was jealous of the carefree ease nico had upon learning that those things in his game were real.

jason full on blames hades for what he did to his sister, he doesn’t blame grover despite grover blaming himself. he only blames one person, and one person alone, and that is hades. hades is the reason he lost his sister and he will never get over that fact. but he won’t let this cloud his emotions when ti comes to nico & hazel

jason&his mother ft thalia

jason barely understood that his mother was a drunk. he barely understood why his mother and sister fought. but, he started to understand when he was around four years old, which is around when he and thalia ran away

he was never in control of his powers when it came to arming his doors with electricity. it was a defence thing his powers were doing. keeping the hurt away from him.

one day when he was two, he was waddling around the house while thalia was at school. he was hungry and looking for his mother, who might be able to give him something to eat. he found his mother, passed out on the couch and poked her in the cheek before he frowned and found something on the coffee table. it was a stapler, which he then proceeded to stuff into his mouth. it pushed together, putting a staple in his mouth when thalia walked back into the home.

little jason screamed his head off at the pain, like a two year old would, waking his mother, causing thalia to grab hold of him and take him into the bathroom where she carefully took out the staple and cleaned him up.

his mother barely cooked, so he never really had a home cooked meal - for a very long time.
