#he’d be close to fuyumi too if she’d submit to him but obviously she refuses to do that so they clash heads very often

Clari i have a questioon: how does touya-nii feel about his mother?? Does he still resent her for how their life was for so many years when she was still married to Enji?
good question anon!!!
not at all!!! i’ve said this before in other asks but he loves his mother very much (or, as much as a sociopath with narcissistic tendencies can love someone). he would never resent her for anything like that and he sees her as just as much of a victim as he and his siblings were. rei got trapped with enji—one of those situations where he systematically abused and manipulated her and made her entirely reliant on him, resulting in it being extremely difficult for her to leave and support herself—and (as i explained here!) it was only after touya’s accident that rei finally decided enough was enough and took that very scary plunge to cut ties with her husband. as the ask i linked you to details, touya actually began drug dealing to support his mother (and we see throughout the series that this support has continued long into his adult years; he will never stop sending his momma money, not until she’s dead and gone and ash on his mantle). touya has a lot of respect and admiration for his mother; he thinks the world of her and believes that she is a very strong woman <3
on top of this, rei also very clearly plays favourites with her children, with touya being her #1 (she takes his side often, she’s softer and sweeter with him, she’s much quicker to forgive him for things that should be unforgivable than she would be with her other kids, and, aside from natsuo, who is an obvious, she’s the only one who bids them goodbye at the end of my snowman & me, etc). in my touya-nii universe, rei is so close to touya and favours him so much because she feels like he suffered the most abuse alongside her, and that has united them in a way none of her children (who were also abuse victims but to a lesser degree) will ever fully understand.
