Maggey Byrde is a magpie aarakocra (basically bird person)

Max Galactica is a vampire (not sure why I would ever choose to make him iffy, so let’s go with the likable one)

Adrian Andrews is a tiefling

Ron DeLite is an elf (his ears are covered by his hair)

And Terry Fawles is an earth elemental (easily influenced, not high on intelligence stats, and so that’s how Dahlia was able to manipulate him so easily)

watching playthrough of Amphipolis and Brasidas’ death for.... research....reasons....and whoever played this had Alexios and Brasidas at odds with each other. Arguing about loyalty before the battle. I cannot see this as them not just fighting about loyalty to Sparta, but some slight between each other. I want to shove them in a room and give them the time to talk things out.

But can we also talk about that THIS is why Adrian could talk back to him?

I'm fed up of seeing people saying AdrIaN HaD a SpInE iN tHe MoVIe. No. No he didn't.

He had a father.

Like, look at Gabriel. He's in the middle of being Hawkmoth. He hasn't won anything yet. His main concern is Adrian. Adrian, who didn't come home last night.

He isn't mad. He's scared, he's worried, he's exhausted. Show Adrian wasn't even allowed to leave the house in the day, forget spending a whole night outside doing whatever he liked.

It's not that Adrian here is standing up to a cruel father. It's that Gabriel's probably actually a lot more lenient and kinder to him than we got to see. Even though he wouldn't eat dinner with Adrian on that day and he doesn't pay enough attention to him, the fact is that Gabriel isn't cruel. He's just absent. Which isn't good, but he isn't going out of his way to control Adrian, he lets Adrian live. In the fair when he calls Adrian, Adrian is disappointed by his father not wanting to spend time with him, not the fact that Gabriel told him to come home because it wasn't safe. In the show, Adrian wouldn't have even been allowed to go to the fair.

So in this scene, when Adrian yells at him, Adrian only can do that because Gabriel isn't gonna get mad, and he knows Gabriel won't get mad. He isn't afraid of his father because he has no reason to be.

Also can I just point out that Gabriel's reaction is confusion. Meaning that Adrian wouldn't normally react like this. I'm pretty sure that Adrian just got rejected by Ladybug, so obviously he's upset about it, and so I think he's actually just taking part of that out on Gabriel. And look at Gabriel. He's confused. He's hurt. He tries to reach out to him. But Adrian's the one who leaves. And he doesn't get mad. Most parents would get mad if their kid yelled at them like that (mine would, heck they'd be mad at me for being outside full stop), but Gabriel, who in the show doesn't even let Adrian question him, isn't mad, he's hurt.

Tl:dr Movie Gabriel loves his son so much even if he isn't always there for him

This scene is so gut wrenching to me, because his son just upped and disappeared OVERNIGHT and he was waiting. It’s Gabriel Agreste written at his absolute finest by Jeremy Zag. It’s the little things here that’s absolutely derailed me despite not having enough time to really go into it (which is a travesty)

He hasn’t shaved. He hasn’t changed. His hair is unruly. There haven’t been any dramatic calls, or search missions. He’s just been waiting by the stairs and hoping for the best. Adrien didn’t just leave for a few hours during the day— he didn’t come home last night.

But he still lets him run back off because hey— at least he’s safe and at least his akuma attack has nothing to do with it, because they saved her miracle cure for the final attack, which means the stakes of all this was VERY real to begin with

pre-history au!!!

This is the result of reading The Dawn of Everything — which is a really great look at the immense variety of social configurations that existed in pre-history — while having Sydrian brain worms. So it's a hunter-gatherer AU. I always get pretty emotional about how humans were always humans, yk?

In what continent does the story take place? I don't know. When exactly in the really broad timeline of prehistory? Look, back when there were vampires, ok? Adrian says in The Fiery Heart that he has no idea where exactly vampires fit in human evolution and with this fic you can keep wondering lol

Sydney and Adrian come from different but intersecting groups

With Adrian I'm imagining a society where Spirit and spirit guidance has a known role, and where dreams have social importance. He still has the downsides of spirit but he has a better defined role.

With Sydney I enjoyed thinking about how a character who is so defined by being extremely intelligent would work in a society without writing and still be just as smart and capable. I thought about her love of stories and knowledge and witchcraft. I thought about the huge diversity of languages that existed then, even within one group. Her protectiveness and loyalty. Her curiosity. And her wish to travel.

And some romantic fluff. A lot of romantic fluff.

This is probably the one I thought about the most and the longest. Which does not actually mean that I wrote that much. It's just short of 25 hundred words long

I almost posted a section of it involving Malachi Wolfe that I was proud of immediately after writing, but decided against it lol

Also, I kind of didn't name any of the characters. It feels weird to have characters called Sydney and Adrian and Eddie in a prehistoric setting. It makes it a bit complicated
