"Now where's the fun in that? It would be like blinding yourself as an artist." Halsin replies, smile not faltering- in fact, it almost seems like a grin.
He takes a seat nearby, patting his thigh as he spreads them a bit for ample room. "Come, I at least want you to be comfortable for this. I've been told I provide quite the cushion."
The other companions are distracted with drinks and loud cheers after a successful battle. Astarion wasn't in much of a festive mood, so he glanced around the camp for a quiet place to slip away for a feed when his eyes met Halsin's, who was also standing off to the side away from the party, gazing at Astarion as if lost in thought.
So Astarion does as Astarion does best and gives Halsin his best smile as he saunters over to the large elf with a rather curious question in tow. An idea popping into his head, should Halsin allow it.
"Sooo, Halsin. What are your thoughts about vampires?"
(Insight check: Successful!) His name rolls off Astarion's tongue effortlessly, indicating his attraction and curiosity towards Halsin.

It seems as though the approach has startled him, as Halsin straightens himself quickly and with an awkward laugh.
He takes a moment to consider his answer, Vampires aren't exactly commonplace. "I must admit, while I try not to judge the things that creatures in nature do to survive, Vampires being so unnatural has made things...difficult. Once upon a time, I was foolish enough to believe what most thought of Vampires, that they're nought but power-hungry beasts, wanting nothing more than senseless violence and bloodshed for their own gain. You have proved there's more than that to them, that not all who walk the night have the luxury to have chosen that life."
A blush seems to cross Halsins cheek as he talks to the pale elf, clearing his throat before speaking in a lower tone than usual. "Though I must admit the- the beast side of me has long since wondered about the...intimacy, associated with such a being. There is something very primal about sustaining oneself on another's life essence, even more so when willingly given."
