"Cold." (Y/N) chuckled softly. Ethan laughed and nodded, licking his lips as he stuck his hands in his pockets. (Y/N) looked him over. He was small, skinny, seemed nervous and awkward. Probably a good guy.

"So, are you a junior?" Ethan asked. (Y/N) nodded, going into his phone gallery and pressing on the saved picture of his schedule. He showed him the screen, watching him lean in and smile.

"We have 1st, 3rd, and 6th together." Ethan said, motioning down the hall. "Come on, I'll show you around."

"Thanks." (Y/N) gave him a small smile, following him. His gaze flickered from student to student. Some glanced at him, knowing he was new. (Y/N) didn't like attention. He didn't like the spotlight. He hated when people stared or payed too much attention to him. He hated the way a pit formed in his stomach and he became nauseous when he was called on and people stared at him in class. (Y/N) entered the class, taking a seat beside Ethan and sighing softly.

"Thanks, by the way. I didn't expect to make a friend until like my second week here."

"No problem. I know it can feel shitty to be the new kid." (Y/N) gave Ethan a small smile, looking forward.

(Y/N) set down his lunch tray, sitting down across from Ethan. He glanced around the courtyard, picking up a french fry. Ethan finished drinking his water, humming softly.

Beck wasn't sure what exactly was happening. One second she'd been walking down the hall to get to her next class, the next she was being yanked into a janitor's closet.

"What the fuck?" she said and whoever had grabbed her laughed. Her panic instantly melted away. It was Elpis. Beck would recognize her laugh anywhere.

As if on cue, Elpis turned on the flashlight on her phone, illuminating the dark closet.

"Hi," she said, smiling.

"Hey?" Beck said, hoping her confusion was evident. "Y'know I never imagined you would be a fan of closets and yet here we are..."

"Oh, right! Sorry! Uh, I'm hiding from this guy and I didn't want him to stop you," Elpis explained. Then she added, "Wait was that a gay joke?"

Beck nodded. "What do you mean you're hiding from a guy?"

Elpis frowned and Beck resisted the urge to tickle her or something to make her smile. She hated seeing Elpis unhappy. She always looked like a kicked puppy and it was heartbreaking.

"This freshman keeps asking me out and he won't leave me alone even though I've rejected him, like, five times. So, I'm hiding from him."

"I fucking hate men," Beck grumbled, crossing her arms over her chest. Elpis laughed, making her smile.

"C'mon, point him out to me and I'll tell him to leave you alone," she said and Elpis' eyes sparkled with admiration.

Beck nodded, looping their arms together and pulling them out of the closet.

"Of course."

Beck looked back at Elpis who's face was a mix of curiosity and fear. A white lie wouldn't hurt.

He groaned, like respecting women was a chore, but nodded. "Fine."

"Good. Now go away before I punch you in the stomach for being a dick." He held his hands up in surrender and walked away, muttering something under his breath.

Beck watched him leave, before she felt someone grab her hide from behind. She looked up and blushed when she met Elpis' eyes.

"Thank you for that, girlfriend," Elpis teased, winking at her and squeezing her hand.
