The Maid Café || Saiki K x Reader
summary: nendou and kaidou keep pestering saiki to visit their favourite maid café but he shuts them down every time. however, after a bit of prying they manage to convince him to give the place a try and while they are there, you just so happen to be on shift.
tw// cussing, maid café, (she/her) reader
key:
“non italicised text” = somebody besides Saiki speaking
“italicised text” = Saiki telepathically communicating
‘italised text’ = Saiki’s thought
‘Of course Nendou and Kaidou would be into maid cafés of all things — not cat cafés, not internet cafés — it just had to be maid cafés.’
Saiki’s internal monologue began as Kaidou continued gushing on about the cute lady he met at the café a few days ago as an argument to why Saiki should join them next time they go. Not to say Saiki wasn’t listening as he felt extremely sorry for whatever lady had to tolerate Kaidou’s advances and his prayer went out to her but besides that, he really couldn’t care less about the maids or the café.
Until, his attention was involuntarily aroused at the vocalisation of his name from Nendou, “Saiki’s definitely in for Friday, I’m pretty sure I sold him when I told him that the sandwiches there are almost as good as the ramen we usually get.”
‘No, you didn’t. I won’t be coming to join you on Friday. I’d much rather stay--’
Somehow Kaidou managed to cut off Saiki’s internal monologue with his annoying voice, “Don’t be silly, Nendou. You’re not going to win Saiki over with such a ridiculous comparison, one that he clearly doesn’t care about.”
‘Am I delusional? Is this a hallucination? Or did Kaidou just say something logical and based in reality?’
Kaidou’s aura immediately changed to dark and sinister as a mischievous smirk crossed his face, the background squawks of the crows suddenly became much louder for some unknown reason. “Instead, you must locate your opponent's weak point before you can recognise the crucially important moment to exploit it. The process takes patience but it is one I have learned from my many years rebelling against Dark Reunion. Now, young Nendou, watch and learn.” He finished with a dramatic flip of his school jacket which was slung over his shoulders as a cape.
‘What was all that about?’
Saiki wondered before Kaidou turned to him, much less brooding than he was a few seconds ago, and said casually, “Your loss if you don’t come, Saiki — you’ll be the one missing out on some of the best desserts in our whole town — not to mention the coffee jelly.”
✿✿✿✿✿
‘How do I always end up losing to these people? I am a psychic for god’s sake!’
Saiki mentally cursed himself out as he stood shamefully in front of the maid café, wearing a carefully curated outfit — including his germanium ring — created especially to hide his identity from anyone from his school that might pass by the café and spot him in there through the window or something. Honestly, he wouldn’t be caught dead in a maid café, or so he thought.
However, all the reviews he read along with both Nendou and Kaidou’s thoughts helped him conclude that this place’s coffee jelly and general dessert selection is nothing to sneeze at. In fact, his favourite Tumblr blog - DeadlyDesserts11037 - visited the place and gave it a 5 star review, recommending everybody who happens to pass by the town to definitely check the place out. After that, he was sold.
Saiki looked over at his friends and couldn’t help but facepalm in response to their bright red, thrilled expressions. “Good grief, please don’t tell me you are both that excited over ladies in maid outfits.” As you might’ve guessed, Saiki didn’t really understand the concept of a ‘maid café’, so he simply assumed the male obsession with maids had something to do with the objectification of women hence he obviously did not want to take part.
“Saiki, you’re seriously just built different if this doesn’t touch your soul.” They both brushed the pink-haired boy’s comment off, completely mesmerised by the sight of a particularly pretty maid-lady walking by the window — probably on her way to serve a table — carrying a notepad in one hand and a plate with a scrumptious-looking coffee jelly on top.
Saiki followed their gaze, his breath hitching at the sight. He was speechless; no sarcastic comment, no running commentary, nothing. Just..woah! If he had known that the girls that work at this place were so gorgeous and the food looked so delicious, he would’ve came a long time ago.
He wasn’t even sure which one he wanted more; the girl or the jelly. In a way, one wasn’t complete without the other because the coffee jelly which she held high next to her head brought out her (E/C) eyes while her shapely figure highlighted the defined curves of the jelly. Drool was quick to start forming at the corners of his lips but he was even quicker to wipe it away; he was starving.
“We’re going in.”
✿✿✿✿✿
To Saiki’s dismay, it was not the stunning (H/C)-haired girl who he had caught a glimpse of through the glass that ushered them to their table. Rather, it was a slightly less gorgeous maid-lady who had long, bright purple hair which was clearly a wig.
Fortunately for him, after she left Kadiou, Nendou and himself to take their seats, she rushed off saying that someone will come take their orders whenever they are ready.
Even with his psychic abilities, there wasn’t much he could think of to alter fate so the pretty coffee-jelly lady would end up serving their table, and besides that, he was way too caught up in gawking at all the mouth-watering desserts they had pictured on the menu.
Simply glancing over the menu brought a stupid grin to his face, he wanted to try every delectable treat presented in front of him. However, he knew he must exhibit restraint, which was fairly simple as he knew deep down there was only one thing on the menu that he was truly after. You guessed it — coffee jelly.
Usually, he couldn’t care less about what his friends comrades were going to order but in this case, he was tempted to try convince both Kaidou and Nendou to order something he liked so he could take a bite of whatever they were having, “What are you two going to order?”
Yet again though, he was ignored as Nendou and Kaidou were both too busy checking out other types of snacks to care about the ones on the menu.
Then, a movement out of the corner of his eyes caught his attention so his head jolted from the menu to his new target, the beautiful girl he had saw through the window earlier. Previously, she was holding a coffee jelly but now she was basically empty handed, until she approached the table and pulled out a notepad and pen, “May I take your orders?” She asked in the most calming, melodious voice Saiki had ever heard, the sounds that left her mouth were nothing short of angelic. Which made sense since her serving their table must’ve been god’s gift to Saiki for all his hard work.
Chills, Saiki got literal chills before he mused, “A coffee jelly, and two brownies for the pair of clowns.” His blood ran cold; curse his smooth sarcastic comments! Most of the time, he was able to filter himself but due to the nerves that arose while talking to you, he probably shouldn’t be surprised that he had a little slip of the tongue. But now, you probably think he is a bitch that insults people on the regular; which he is, but not usually aloud! Plus, he couldn’t even tell what you were thinking due to his germanium ring and your distant expression, awful combo!
While he was in the middle of feeling bad for himself and considering teleporting away home, a miracle happened, you burst out laughing. And somehow, your laughter was even more silvery than your voice.
Saiki had zoned-out from pure shock for a moment before coming back to reality, noticing that you had started jotting down something in your notepad, a sweet smile still lingering on your face despite the fact you had stopped laughing. “Alright, so one coffee jelly and two brownies. Anything else?” You asked, glancing back and forth between the three equally unique and strange men sitting at the table.
“That’ll be all, thank you.” Saiki telepathically communicated as he usually did, considering actually using his mouth to speak for a change so he didn’t seem weird but in all honesty, he couldn’t be bothered. In any other situation, he would’ve gotten a drink of water or perhaps hot cocoa but right now he was way too afraid of making another error in his speech to request something else.
Silently, he extended his arm to hand you the menu he was given when he entered the café, along with the ones Kaidou and Nendou were given too. His actions single-handedly shooting down your plan of leaning across the table to ‘take the menus’ but in reality it is just a subtle way of showing-off how nice your torso looked in this maid outfit, a trick you learned from your supervisor.
You nodded, closing over your notepad and making your way over to the kitchen, being sure to swing your hips just a little bit extra to impress the pink-haired megane at the table you just took an order from. You mentally cursed your stupid brain though for always crushing on guys/gals who don’t seem the least bit interested in you. In this case, the guy’s attention was divided between his star-struck friends and the desserts on the menu, rather than you which was an unusual sight in a maid café considering that most people would only come to ogle at the waitresses.
✿✿✿✿✿
“So, Saiki.” Kaidou finally landed back into reality after a large chunk of the waitresses roaming around were now in the kitchen which he didn’t have viewing access to, “What did you order us?”
‘So, he was fully aware that the waitress came to take his order, he just chose to ignore her and left me to order his food. What a child, it must be a side-effect of his eighth grade syndrome.’
Saiki couldn’t help but sigh, “I ordered you both brownies.”
Kaidou stuck out his bottom lip to form a pout as he crossed his arm over his chest like a toddler, “I hate brownies.” He muttered to himself, realising that if he wanted something done right, he’d have to do it himself.
An amused smirk tugged at Saiki’s lips but he resisted the urge to laugh, ‘I know.’ He thought, his masterplan to eat more food without looking greedy falling into place. “Oh well, more for me then.”
Suddenly, Nendou spun his head around to abruptly join the conversation, “Hey guys, did you see the hottie that was serving our table?” He inquired with starry eyes, as if he was a kid in a candy store.
Saiki nodded, ‘Obviously I did, you moron. I was the one who ordered the food for goodness’ sake!’
Kaidou shook his head, his eyes lighting up as he leaned in close to Nendou, “Nope! I was busy looking at the other girls, but tell us!”
Nendou chuckled at Kaidou’s enthusiastic reaction before glancing to the side, outstretching his arm and pointing at the waitress that was now approaching the table with the food in her hands. “There she is!”
‘Don’t point at her, you idiot!’ Saiki mentally insulted his friend but instinctively followed the guidance of the tip of his finger until his eyes landed on your shapely figure — accentuated by the nature of the maid outfit — slowly heading toward his table, holding the coffee jelly and the plate of brownies in the same graceful way you did when he saw you through the window.
The gleam of your gorgeous hair, the movement of your luscious lashes, the gentle bounce of your upper body, how your perfectly manicured nails clutched the base of the jelly glass; everything about what he was seeing made him believe that if/when he were to die, this would be his ideal first sight as he passed through the gates of heaven.
Before he knew it, you had reached the table and placed his jelly down on the table, gently nudging it towards him, “One coffee jelly for the cute boy with antennas.” You mused, making Saiki’s heart flutter in a way he was unfamiliar with. Then, you placed the brownies in front of Kaidou and Nednou who sat opposite from Saiki, “And two brownies for the clowns.”
If it wasn’t for the fact the pair of clowns were too busy leching over you in your maid outfit, they’d probably be curious as to your choice of words but luckily for both you and Saiki, they were way to entranced by your visible bra strap to care about the little nickname.
Saiki felt a light blush creep onto his face, which only got worse as you discretely sent him a playful wink before turning on your heels to stroll back to the kitchen, “If you need anything else, just give me a wave.”
All of them hummed agreement in unison until the waitress was out of sight, giving Saiki a moment to process the events that had just went down. Not only did you refer to him as ‘the cute boy with antennas’ but you also winked at him, if that wasn’t a clear sign you were interested, what was? However, Saiki still had his doubts since this was a maid café after all, perhaps you were just trained to do that with all your customers.
Luckily, the had the foresight to slip off his germanium ring to read your mind and that helped him come to the conclusion that you were either interested in him or you were just very competitive as the whole time you were serving the table your thoughts were along the lines of;
‘I’ll adjust my skirt- Ha! You looked! Try resist falling for me now, you hot lil’ megane! Your heart is mine and I know it! See, I’ll fidget with my corset too-- just make a move already, pinkie!’
Although he didn’t appreciate being called ‘pinkie’, he had no right to judge what was going on in your brain. All he could do is be thankful that you didn’t say that aloud.
✿✿✿✿✿
You sighed as you noticed the pink-haired boy and his little posy exit the establishment without so much as a goodbye, or even a wave!
It was disappointing as you had already mentally planned your future with this guy and he had the audacity to do the real life equivalent of leaving you on read. But oh well, it would be approximately a week until you developed a crush on a random customer that lasts for around 30 minutes and for the time being, you can focus on doing your job.
You glumly shuffled over to their table to gather their plates to be washed, then a piece of colourful paper attached to the empty jelly glass caught your eye. As you held up the glass to inspect it further, you realised that it was a sticky note with a message written on it in black ink and neat, cursive handwriting. It read:
‘Dearest waitress,
Thank you for the excellent service, we (myself) tipped accordingly.’
You hadn’t finished reading yet but you were curious as to what he meant by that, and apparently you service must’ve been exceptional as the writer had left a whole ¥2000 tip. That’s a huge addition to the demonia fund.
Followed by this charming little message was an extra tip for you; the writer’s phone number! Meaning that this little sticky note was something you had to protect with your life..so you shoved it in your bra for safe-keeping.
But not before taking a moment to giggle with delight at who the note was signed by,
‘Sincerely, the hot lil’ megane (aka Kusuo Saiki)’

Curiosity Killed the Cat (Part 5)
Wary of Lavender Light
Part 4: [x] CKTC Tag (if you’d like to read from the beginning!) [x]
(ITS FINALLY BACK!! Can you believe it?? Sorry for the HUGE hiatus! I really have no excuse except you know being inspired by other projects ;;; but I can now say I got almost all of this planned and I’m so hyped! I hope y’all are too :3 enjoy!! And let me know what you think!!)
A harsh ring echoed across the room as a phone buzzed on the nightstand next to Jackie’s bed. The superhero groaned and rolled over on his pillow, shielding his face from the sunlight creeping through his curtains. He did not want to get up. He didn’t want to go to work. What was the point of working minimum wage when he was a fucking superhero by night?
“-because otherwise you wouldn’t have an apartment, dumbass,” Jackie mumbled to himself groggily. With a strained groan, he pushed himself off his stomach out of bed, fluffing up his mop of brunette hair. Blinking the sleep out of his eyes, Jackie reached to his nightstand and unlocked his phone, shutting off his alarm. Though, reaching over the nightstand, his wrist brushed against a piece of fabric and Jackie paused once the noise had quieted to stop and stare. The small blue ragged mask he lend to Jamie during their brief partnership lay next to him and the hero swallowed hard against the pit in his stomach. He hadn’t heard much from Jameson since that day. It had been almost a week...But, Jackie had assumed he had just thrown himself into extra shifts back down at the haberdashery, now that their “family emergency” was solved.
In fact, this was Jackie’s first day officially back at his own job since everything had gone back to normal. Back to the game shop. Jackie sighed heavily and pulled himself to step out of bed, dragging himself to his closet to tug on his polo shirt and slacks and to make sure the bags under his eyes weren’t too pronounced.
As much as Jackie was dreading going back to work, he was also glad to have an excuse to get out of the house. Ever since JJ dropped the sidekick deal, Jackie had been feeling really depressed. Sure, he loved working with Marvin and he was so happy to have him back. But, he was so excited to show Jamie the ropes of being a hero. He seemed so excited too… full of such joy and drive. What changed?
As Jackie thought to himself, across the hall his ears caught the quiet whisper of chanting and a chill ran up the hero’s spine. The foreign language seemed to burn the air as it slithered around the apartment and Jackie had to resist the urge to just bolt out of his room and run to the store. He had to deal with Marvin before he left.
Marvin had been… strange to say the least this last week. Which, of course, was to be expected. He was kidnapped by Anti. Lost some memories. Of course he would be fucked up. And he was. For a couple hours. Then once Jackie had come back from dealing with that criminal with Jamie… Marvin had changed. Jackie didn’t want to say he was a different person. But he certainly wasn’t acting like himself.
Marvin was always one to withdraw himself when he was upset or dealing with something. But, this isolation was something else. Jackie hardly ever saw him. Yet, he refused to go back to his own apartment. It kinda made sense? Maybe he didn’t want to be completely alone… But the magic… the magic was the most unsettling part.
With all that’s happened with his magic lately, Jackie fully expected Marvin to take a break from magic all together. Jackie thought he knew Marvin… he thought he knew Marvin wouldn’t push himself this hard and fast after something like this. But, Marvin was proving him different. Marvin was a driven person, but he knew how to have fun, knew when to take a break, liked to cause trouble. Jackie had hardly seen Marvin out of his room this week. The magician turned down every one of Jackie’s offers for food or coffee which was...even stranger. Jackie hadn’t seen Marvin eat in a while either. And the hero was pretty much forbidden from stepping foot in Marvin’s room. Even though it was Jackie’s apartment. Something was off.
But a couple nights ago, Jackie caught something. He came home late only to find a strange glow coming from underneath Marvin’s door. And a sliver of the door cracked open, just enough for someone to peek an eye in. Lavender light flooded the hallway and the air burned and hissed with an energy Jackie had never felt before. And… Marvin’s voice. It had a dark sinister tone as he chanted some long complicated spell.
Using his skills from thousands of stakeouts, Jackie crept down the hall and made to the other side of Marvin’s door frame so he could lean in and observe. In the room, Marvin was bent over on the floor, surrounded by flickering candles whose flames were outlined by green and purple the longer he chanted. The floor was littered with piles of spell books, as well as ripped out pages from said books, written on and highlighted to all hell. A black tome, blacker than any black Jackie had ever seen lay next to Marvin as if he was afraid to let it leave his side. And in Marvin’s hand was a small crocheted doll. It looked like Jack.
The cat masked magician continued to chant and the button eyes of the doll started to glow a dark sick purple, echoing the magic at Marvin’s fingertips. Strings of magic wrapped around the doll’s wrists, ankles and finally it’s neck before Marvin yanked his hand back and pulled the strings taut. Jackie didn’t know it was possible for a doll with no face to look like it was in pain. Marvin’s face cracked into a grin and the strings snapped as he spat out the last word of the spell, the light of the candles being snuffed out as the purple glow in the room dimmed. A low chuckle came out of Marvin as he studied the doll in his hands, turning it over in contemplation.
“I bet Anti is very very happy you’re still asleep, Jack,” Marvin mused to himself with a slight unhinged sounding giggle, “He must assume he made such a good little puppet out of me!” Then the smile immediately dropped off his face as he gripped the doll in his hand tight, as if to choke it. His eyes flashed from bright blue to purple as he cocked his head to the toy, a slow smooth smile spreading on his face.
“Won’t he be surprised when he sees I’m the one pulling the strings?”
An involuntary shiver ran up Jackie’s spine as he heard those words fall out of Marvin’s mouth, his blood running cold. Was Marvin saying this of his own free will or was he-?
Suddenly, Marvin’s head snaps around towards the door, the whole of his eyes flowing with purple power. Jackie pushes himself as far away from the door as fast as possible, rushing for his room, hoping he can be convincing enough to look like he just came home. Shit, he’s sweating buckets, his heart is rushing a thousand miles per hour. The door to Marvin’s room slams open and a rush of hot air flows through the hallway, blowing Marvin’s hair and cape up dramatically as he growls. Jackie’s foot in the doorway of his room and he whips around with a forced face of confusion.
“Woah what the hell bro? You expecting a burglar?!”
It seems to have worked as the wind dies down and the purple quickly fades out of Marvin’s eyes. He looks at Jackie bewildered and quickly smooths down his hair.
“Jackie…” Marvin breathes, “I… I didn’t hear you come home.”
Jackie gives Marvin a small smile,”Yeah. You sounded… busy, so i tried to be quiet so i wouldn’t disturb you!” The hero gave the magician a thumbs up and a half hearted grin, feeling sweat dripping down his forehead. God, he hated lying, though he wasn’t completely lying. He just hoped Marvin believed him, and that whatever freaky spells he was learning didn't give him the power to read minds…
There’s a long uncomfortable span of silence before Marvin nods his head. He eyes Jackie, then just turns heel and heads back to his room without another word.
Jackie had a lot of trouble sleeping that night...and every night since then.
Something was wrong! But… Jackie was scared to say anything. What if he was just being paranoid? The last time he overreacted to Marvin… well he disappeared and got kidnapped by Anti. Jackie couldn’t let himself be the cause of that again. It would tear him apart.
But, honestly? If Marvin was being controlled still, or was corrupted or whatever else was the matter with him…. Jackie was also sure he didn’t want to be on the receiving end of this new magic.
Though if Jackie had to go to work, so did Marvin damnit! Freaky magic or not! It was time for a little tough love…
Jackie steels himself as he pushes himself to stand in front of Marvin’s room, trying not to shiver at the sound of Marvin’s chanting from the other side. Taking a deep breath, the hero swallows and raises his hand, knocking loudly on the door. The chanting stops immediately and soon Marvin is cracking the door open, a look of annoyance on his face.
“What, Jackie?” Marvin demanded, baring his canines slightly. Jackie felt himself shiver again but he tried his best to stand his ground. Though as Jackie tried to gather his words, his eyes wandered to the arm Marvin was using to keep the door open. The hero blinked rapidly as he thought he saw underneath the cloth of his brother’s shirt a series of purple veins. And they were glowing?
Marvin’s exasperated tone snapped Jackie’s gaze away, “Jackie, if you don’t have anything to say then-”
“Ah no- I-!”Jackie stammered, shaking his head. “I…” He stood up straighter, setting his face. “I’m heading back to work today. And… You seem to be doing better.” Jackie winced slightly, hoping he didn’t sound too insensitive. “It.. it might be time for you to head back to the theater, don’t you think?”
The magician tilts his head slightly and studies Jackie, with almost no emotion. The seconds tick by so slowly and Jackie wishes Marvin would just say something.
“Then don’t you think it’s about time we got back to hero work, Jackieboy?”
Jackie freezes, a retort dead on his tongue. A smirk creeps up on Marvin’s face, a mischievous light in his eye.
“Oh? I’m sorry, did i strike a nerve, hero?” Marvin purred, stepping forward. Jackie quickly stepped back, clutching his backpack and tensing away from Marvin.
“Marvin, what the hell-?” Jackie bit back, “I-I I haven’t been avoiding hero work-”
“It’s not very herolike to lie, Jackie,” Marvin interrupted, giving him a big cheshire like grin. “We all know how heartbroken you’ve been about losing dear Jameson as a… sidekick.” Marvin made sure to make ‘sidekick’ long and drawn out with a obviously fake sad smile. Jackie looked away and bit his lip.
“However,” Marvin continued,”You can’t be selfish, Jackie. People’s lives are at stake!”
Jackie balled his hands into fists and gritted his teeth together, not able to look Marvin in the eye. He could just feel his smug expression.
“...Let me think about it. I’ll decide after work.” Jackie eventually sighs. But then he turns and points at Marvin, narrowing his eyes. “But you! Need to get out of the apartment, Marv! Go to the theater… gets some sun for fuck’s sake! You’ve been acting like a goddamn vampire…”
Marvin just continued to smile smugly at Jackie, not even batting an eyelash. He grabbed Jackie’s finger and pulled it out of his face.
“Whatever you say, Hero. Wouldn’t want to upset my crime fighting partner!” He then grinned wider, changing his grip on Jackie’s finger to grab it tighter and pull it so he could drag Jackie’s face closer to his. Jackie could feel a strange hum of energy coming off Marvin that sent his hair standing on end. “After all, this could be our grand return to the stage!”
Jackie swore he saw a flicker of purple light in Marvin’s eyes and he quickly pulled away, rubbing his hand as shivers raked his spine.
“Uh yeah… sure. S-See you tonight, then,” Jackie sputtered all too quickly as he made his way for the door. Marvin smiled sweetly after him, waving.
“See you tonight, Jackie!”

It Always Gets Stranger
Mike’s family is going to Maine for the summer. Sometimes, things take a turn for the worst.
CHAPTER 6
read on ao3
read chapter 1, ch 2, ch 3, ch 4, ch 5
words: 2162
warnings: homophobic / racial slurs (Henry Bowers, basically)
BEN Hanscom was a patient person. If anyone was to describe him, that was the word to use.
But when his yearlong friend, Richie Tozier, showed up at the quarry an entire hour late with six more people than expected, Ben’s patience was being tested.
“What the hell, Richie?” was Eddie Kaspbrak’s greeting to the boy, and he smiled sarcastically, showing off his slightly over-large incisors.
“Well ya see Eds, I was busy sayin’ goodbye to your mom and I lost track of the time-”
“Beep beep, Richie,” Eddie and his group of friends chorused, used to the antics of their trashmouth friend.
“What’s with the entourage?” Stan asked from his spot on a nearby rock, which he had taken to sitting on for the last half hour of waiting. The group of silent kids behind Richie shuffled, and Ben watched as a kid with wildly curly hair exchanged glances with a tall black boy.
Said boy spoke up, seeming to take leadership. “We’re friends of Mike, Richie’s cousin.” The boy motioned to another, who looked very much like Richie.
“Well, friends and cousins of Richie, welcome!” Beverly said from next to Bill, flashing a smile toward them. A couple of the strangers reciprocated, the curly haired kid and a girl with brown hair just as wild.
The air fell silent after that as everyone yook in the faces of new, and Ben did as well. There was also a girl with vivid red hair that could rival Bev’s, the long tresses pulled back into a ponytail. Next to the boy who looked like Richie (Mike, Ben was proud to remember) stood a kid with round eyes and a wary smile, his hair framing his face in a flattering way. A bird chirped and Stan’s head turned to the sound.
Surprisingly, Bill was the person to break the awkward silence. He motioned to the redhead’s shirt and asked, “Y-you like Eh-Eh-Elvis?”
She seemed to ignore his obvious stutter. “Yeah, I love him. You too?”
“Oh, I c-can never s-s-st-s-stop lis-listening to h-h-hi-him! The Losers ah-are always ann-an-annoyed at me,” He beamed. “Oh, and I d-d-do-don’t buh-buh-believe I caught your nuh-nuh-name.” She opened her mouth to speak as the curly kid beat her to it.
“She’s Max. I’m Dustin. And did you just call your friends ‘losers?’” Ben noted that some of his teeth seemed to be missing, and he had a slight lisp.
“It’s what we call ourselves,” Ben spoke up, and he felt slightly uncomfortable with so many new pairs of eyes focused on him. “The bullies called us ‘Losers,’ so we took the name as our own.”
“Original,” Max spoke up. “Our bullies just call us—”
Richie cleared his throat loudly, not in a way to get something out of it, but to draw attention to himself. “Uh, hello? Less chatty-chatty, more swimmy-swimmy? Come on fuckers, we’re losing daylight!” Richie strode over to the side of the cliff before anyone could point out to him that they had hours to swim.
“Wait, you’re gonna jump off of that?” Mike spoke up, a shake to his voice. He exchanged glances with Dustin and the unnamed girl, and Ben sensed that they had a story to tell from it.
“What’s wrong, Micycle, ‘fraid of heights?” Then he said quieter, “If he shits himself, it’ll be hilarious.”
“No, I’m not! I just… um… it’s a long story,” Mike defended himself.
“Probably about the diving board to the public pool, amiright?”
“Shut up, Richie. Not the time.” Eddie rolled his eyes.
Bill put a reassuring touch to Mike’s arm. “Do-don’t worry, Muh-Mih-Mike, we’ve all done it be-before. It’s perfectly safe.”
“But—”
“It’ll be fine, Mike. See? Watch.” Max pushed past Richie and took a large leap into the water. Everyone ran to watch her fall, and she let out a “Woo!” as she disrupted the water with a satisfyingly large splash.
“Holy shit!” Richie exclaimed. “That was really hot. Is she single?” Richie cringed away as Lucas punched him in the arm. The unnamed girl shook her head and jumped after Max. “Holy shit, is she single?”
“Beep-fucking-beep, asshole.”
“Aw, come on, Eds. I’m just asking a question you all know you wanted answered.”
Stan shook his head, the curls bouncing along. “Weren’t you hung up on Eddie’s mother ten minutes ago?”
“The past is in the past, Stan-the-Man.”
Ben looked at the others. “Wanna jump?”
Dustin grinned, his cheeks pulled up and his eyes crinkling. “Thought you’d never ask.”
Everyone’s feet left rock and flew through the air into the water, multiple cries of “Holy shit!” and “Woo-hoo!” being shouted into the air.
Ben did a head count, and, coming up two short, he looked back up at the cliff.
Two tiny figures stood, and Ben could see the dark hair and pale skin even from a height like that.
Richie and Mike seemed to be arguing, hands waving and voices carrying down the cliff, although Ben couldn’t decipher what they were saying. Ben saw hands connect a chest, and one of them came flailing down the cliff with a strangled “I’M GONNA KILL YOU, RICHARD!” The second figure followed, and Max gargled on water as she let out a laugh when Mike hit the water.
…
Lots of water-splashing and chicken-fighting ensued after that, and the twelve kids took to lounging on the rocks as they dried off and music from Richie’s boombox filled the air.
“So… what brings you guys to Derry?”
Stan had known about Richie’s family situation, as he had complained to them over and over since he’d gotten the news. He (and the rest of the Losers) had no idea as to why they had come.
“My mom,” Mike had spoken up. “She wanted to visit her sister and my entire family was dragged along.”
“Yeah, and we didn’t want him to be alone all summer,” Lucas elaborated.
“Sorry Rich,” Bev turned to the boy with magnified eyes, “if you have to leave for the summer, we’re ditching you.” Richie glared and everyone cracked a smile.
The air fell silent again, save the boombox blasting one of Richie’s many mixtapes.
“Is it true that Derry has twice the average amount of deaths than the national average?” Dustin burst out randomly, as if he was waiting to pop the question all day. The losers’ heads turned to Ben, knowing he was the library feel out of all of them.
“No, actually. It's six times.” Dustin's eyes widened, like a little kid that got what they wanted for Christmas.
“Totally tubular,” he smiled at Lucas and Max, although nobody else seemed to get the joke.
…
On the walk back, Eddie has a feeling of something being… off. When he asked Bev, she just shrugged, saying, “You always feel like something's off, Ed. I bet it's nothing,” and she pushed his shoulder in a sisterly manner.
“She really think shes gonna come outta that school?” Eddie turned at Stan's voice, his gaze fixed on a lone woman sitting on the steps of the empty school, hopping up peeking through the doors as if waiting for someone who was late.
“What? Who’s ‘she?’” the short boy, Eddie learned who was named Will, wondered.
“Betty Ripsom,” Beverly said to him. “She went missing a few weeks ago. That's her mom over there.”
“It's as if she’s been locked in a janitor’s closet for the last few weeks,” Eddie muttered, looking at the mother who was hiding on to a nonexistent thread of hope that her daughter was lost at school, that's all.
“Do you think they're actually gonna find her?” Stan spoke aloud to the silent group.
“Sure,” Richie started, and Eddie prepared himself for an offensive comment. “In a ditch, all decomposed, covered in worms and maggots and smelling like Eddie's mom's underwear.” Richie motioned to Eddie, who shivered at the idea.
“Shut up, this is freaking disgusting.” Eddie shook his head to rid himself of the image, filled with millions of deadly bacteria.
“She's not dead, she’s mm-meh-missing,” Bill said defensively, glaring at the bespectacled boy.
“Sorry, Bill,” Richie apologized, his extra-large eyes seeming to come into focus as he adjusted his glasses. “She's missing.”
Eddie was surprised. The only other times he'd heard Richie apologize was once to the principal for selling candy from his locker (after his mother forced him to), and once to a streetlight that he thought was a person after he ran into it. It was a thing of Richie's: he just didn't apologize to things because he usually didn't feel sorry.
But of course, Bill was always sort of treated a little like glass since what happened in October… Eddie still remembered the phone call and how Bill had to hand the phone to his mother because he was stuttering so badly.
“They’ll find her,” the curly-haired girl said, and Eddie was startled to realize this was the first time he’d heard her speak. She had a soft voice, and it reminded Eddie of a warm cabin in the woods that he had never been to before. She spoke with a sort of certainty to her voice that made it sound like she knew Betty personally, and had seen her. It was quite calming.
“Should we tell her about the shoe?” Ben was still staring at the mother, who glanced at the group before turning back to the school.
“What shoe? Did you guys find something?” Lucas asked, furrowing his eyebrows.
“W-we were in the ss-sew-sewers yesterday,” Bill explained. “Looking f-for…” he took a deep breath, “no one.”
“‘Looking for no one.’ Wow, that’s not sinister sounding at all.” The redheaded Max shook her head as Lucas nudged her in the arm. She sighed. “Sorry.”
“Is that how you guys spend your summer?” Dustin asked, crunching down a granola bar that Eddie didn’t know how he got. “Inside of sewers?”
Richie was silent for a heartbeat before, “Beats spending it inside of your mother. Ohhh.” He raised his arm for a high-five to Stan, who grabbed it and yanked it down.
“Woah,” Mike said, looking at something Eddie couldn’t see, “Nice car.”
They all turned, spotting a blue Trans Am, and Eddie’s face paled. “W-we should get outta here.”
“Why, Kaspbrak?” a sneering voice spoke. “’Fraid you’ll go missing too?” Eddie turned around, spotting Henry Bowers standing just a few feet in front of the group. How he managed to sneak up on them, Eddie had no idea, and he sometimes wondered if he had the ability to teleport.
Riche let out a choking sound as the back of his shirt was yanked backwards, and he fell spectacularly into Stan, where they both landed on the ground with an almighty “oof.”
A large belch sounded right next to Eddie’s ear, and he cringed away from the sound and the hot breath, gagging as the boy, Belch Huggins, let out a big laugh.
“Knew he was a bottom,” Patrick said as Richie tried to get up off of Stan, and Victor Criss, another one of Henry’s goons, pushed him back down. Patrick kicked Stan in the arm. “Fuckin’ flamer!”
“And who have we here?” Henry said, looking toward Lucas, who had a scowl set on his face. Eddie wouldn’t put it past him that he would punch Henry if he had the chance. “You seem far from home, dontcha, Midnight?”
“Eat shit.”
“Oh, you think you’re all high ‘n’ mighty, don’t ya?” Henry said in that menacing voice of his. “Newsflash, kid: you don’t belong here. Stay out of this town. Or you’ll deserve what’s comin’ for ya.”
“Hmm, what else’ve we got here?” Victor seemed to have snuck up behind Max, and he had a handful of her hair in his fingers. She yanked herself away from him, turning around and stepping on his toes.
“Leave her alone!” Dustin said angrily. Henry’s gaze turned to him, and Dustin’s bravery seemed to melt.
“You seem to be missin’ a couple ’a teeth there, Curly. Shut up if you don’t want to lose some more.”
“Ss-sss-sshut it, Bowers!” Bill said angrily, his mouth seeming to not agree with his words as he spit them out. Henry turned around slowly, that threatening look back in his eyes.
“You suh-suh-say somethin’, Buh-Buh-Buh-Billy?” he strode over to the boy until they were inches apart. “Yeh got a free ride this year ‘cause ‘a your little brother. Ride’s over, Denbrough.”
Eddie knew he was going to do something horrible like he always did, but a police cruiser had rode down the street, slowing down while going by the kids. His father, Eddie thought to himself.
“This summer’s gonna be a hurt train. For you and your faggot friends.” He walked away and toward Belch Huggins’ car, but not before licking his hand and wiping it on Bill’s face.
The kids all watched them ride off.
“Wish he’d go missing,” Richie commented.
“He’s probably the one doing it,” Eddie said thoughtfully.

a/n: wowie part three!!! lemme know if you’d like a part four!! requests are open for all you lovely little nuggets! happy reading👱🏻♀️🌈🤴🏼
tonight was a totally flop, my feet kill from standing so long, the food was served cold and to top it off no one asked me to dance the entire night so i stood and watched an awkward Betty try and confess her feelings to my brother and so far it didn’t look like it was going to crash hot
just when i thought the night could get worse if it possibly tried i spot cheryl walking over to me and at this moment i just wanting the ground to swallow me whole.
“hello my fellow riven vixen” she smiles sweetly
“hey cheryl” i smile and muster up as much enthusiasm and fake smiling as i could manage “what’s up” i tilt my head blinking to let her know im not a robot.
“are you coming tonight to the after party? im in the mood for chaos” her smile turns sinister as she batts her eyelids. “not tonight im super tired but enjoy!”
i try and walk past her but she catches me arm and yanks me back “i beg your pardon?” i roll my eyes pulling my arm free “i said no cheryl i will not be in attendance tonight- now if you’ll excuse me-”
she begins her snappy come back when i see reggie mantle walking over to us “care to dance andrews?” i breathe a sigh of relief “why of course mantle- if you’ll excuse me” i tell cheryl before grabbing his hand and letting him guide me out into the middle of the dance floor
“i never thought I’d say this but ive never been so happy to see you ever in my life” i sling my arms around his neck as we begin to slow dance. he chuckles at my remark and places his arms loosely on my hips
“things looked a little intense so i thought I’d go help my damsel in distress, you are my river vixen after all” he teases pulling me closer to his body.
“woah steady eddie i think your getting a bit ahead of yourself there. i can handle myself but thank you” he smiles down at me “your welcome”
the song ends and we break apart i catch a glimpse of the others watching reggie and i closely as he snakes his hand around my waist and tugs me toward his side. my brother mutters something to Betty before walking over to me and breaking us apart.
“if it isn’t the inferior twin, hey bud how you doing. did i tell you that your sister got mega hot” he winks at me before smirking up at my brother “jesus reg” i roll my eyes at the hormonal teen before walking toward my brother “let’s go home”
“actually Betty, Ronnie and I are going to the Blossoms- you should come-” i shake my head “no thanks im just going to hit Pops and then head home for a well needed bath”. he nods before turning and disappearing in the crowd.
i start the walk over to Pop’s my clutch in one hand my shoes in the other the cool wind blowing through my hair. i quicken my pace when i see the shimmering neon signs of the diner “thank god” i mutter entering the only place open at 11pm
it was much warmer inside then out my whole body shivered as it adjust to the warmness, “hey pop” i greet “the usual?” he asks and i nod searching for a booth when I spot the brunette boy huddled over his laptop.
“ill be sitting with juggie” the old man nods turning and placing my order into the kitchen, my stomach growling at the mouth watering smell of burgers and fries.
i approach the table with caution my whole body shivering from the cold “jug?”
his eyes shoot up from his laptop annoyance across his face as he realises it’s me, my heart sinks as i wrap my arms around my body “can i sit?” he doesn’t say a word he just nods focusing his attention back to his work
i slip into the open seat opposite him placing my heels and purse next to me, we sit in silence and i tap my fingers against the table hoping that he’d break first.
“god dammit!” i bang my hands on the table causing jughead to look at me in an instant closing his laptop. “what?” he says panicked
“im sorry for bailing today okay! i got swept up with B & V and my brother forced me to this stupid dance and i don’t have your number so I couldn’t message you to say no and i just had a really crappy night and I had to walk all the way from school to here in these damn shoes- and it’s like minus 2 degrees out there and I’m cold and hungry and annoyed because i flaked on you and i never flake- so im sorry please don’t do this-” i blurt resting my head in my hands.
the diner falls quiet and i keep my eyes close not wanting to see a Jugheads expression “here” i hear him mumble
i lift my head and see jugheads outstretched hand with his jacket hanging from his grasp, i grab it softly slipping into it and instantly feelings it’s warmth “thank you” i mumble.
“it’s okay-” he pauses to clear his throat “i actually only got here about an hour ago-” he chuckles grabbing a few fries off my plate and popping them into his mouth.
i drop my face into my palms and turn red in embarrassment before making eye contact with him again a grin wide on his face. i narrow my eyes at him pulling my plate closer to me.
“i can’t believe you made me think you were mad at me you jerk” i complain somewhat relieved at the concept “i tried to stop you but once you start ranting it’s extremely hard to stop you”
i laugh at the brunette boy as i sip on my milkshake “you’re an idiot” i mutter “you’re a an idiot” he mimics my voice making extremely offensive hand gestures. i throw a napkin at him and roll my eyes at him before sticking my tongue out at him. mature i know
we talk for a little bit before the bell in the diner goes off my brother walking in looking rather guilty “s'cuse me” i mutter to jughead before slipping out of the booth and walk over to the service desk where archie stands
“sorry kid she hasn’t been in here tonight just these two-” “who” i ask catching the end of their conversation “uh betty” he confesses itching the back in his neck he walks past me and toward jughead
“archie what’s wrong with B?!” i ask annoyed but he ignores me asking jughead to sit before taking my place in the booth “earth to archie?!” i complain annoyed.
“what!” he snaps gazing at me
“Betty, where is she and what the hell happened at Cheryl’s”
“nothing!” he stammers looking to the both of us before looking back down at his hands “look ronnie and i- uh we kissed..” my jaw drops
“in front of here?!” i ask fuming “well not tech-”
“archie i swear to god-!” i yell anger pulsing through me
“yes!” he snaps yelling at me “i came here to apologise!” he tries to reason
i scoff “to who, to betty to me or to jug- because I’m pretty sure you owe us ALL an apology even damn ronnie needs one” i yell at my brother storming away from the booth before turning quickly on my heels and heading back to the boys.
archie flinches as i reach over the booth and give jughead a hug “night jug sorry again ill see you tomorrow- ive got to find Betty” he nods understandingly “to be continued?” i nod and turn around walking out of the diner and directly to the coopers residence
♕
i sneak up into Bettys room and knock twice waiting patiently for her to open the window, within a minute the lights inside her room turn on and the click of her window unlocking as she pulls it up with ease “(y/n)?” she says surprised
“what the hell did that stupid ginger haired brother of mine do this time” she sniffles and i hold my arms outstretched and she rushes into them crying softly into my shoulder
“the kissed in the closet for seven minutes in heaven- she knew & so did he but they did it anyway” she wipes her eyes before siting on the edge of her bed “boys are stupid” i tell her placing my hand on her shoulder
“i don’t get why he doesn’t like me (y/n) what’s wrong with me i just-” she chokes on her words wiping her wet cheeks with her fingers.
“he loves you i know that just not in the way you want him to- but you know what sometimes they’re better of being friends then anything more” i try and comfort her letting her rest her head on me.
her phone vibrates and she sighs when she reads it “its arch-” she croaks “he’s outside” i give her shoulders a squeeze.
“you don’t have to see him if you don’t feel up to it, i can tell him you just want to be alone” she shakes her head “it’s okay” she gives me a weak smile before we both stand from her bed and walk downstairs
she pauses and turns around staring at me looking puzzled “what?” i ask “is that jughead as jacket?” i look down at the fabric and smile shyly “yeah i was at pops and it was cold so juggie leant it to me”
she raises her brows at me “jesus just open the door”!
she opens the front door to reveal my brother standing further down the drive way “ill be right here” i tell her giving her hand a reassuring squeeze before she walks down to meet him talking in hushed whispers before Betty turns around and rushes to me crying even more than before
i run my hands over her hair trying to soothe her as i catch my brothers guilty expression “call me if you need anything okay B?” she nods wiping her tears and mumbling a thank you before disappearing into her house
i walk past my brother and over to our house “i can’t believe you” i mutter slamming the front door in his face.
“c'mon (y/n) you can’t be mad at me okay” “watch me” i yell back stomping up the stairs
“why do you even care!” he retorts clearly annoyed “she’s my best friend arch what the hell is that supposed to mean!”
“hey hey what’s going on here, arch (y/n/n)?” “nothing dad just the same ole jerk archie, night”
i shut my door with some extra force due to the anger coursing through my body “i can’t believe him” ♕
“are you still mad?”
i stay seated in the passenger seat of my brothers truck, ive been giving him the silent treatment all morning and we’ve finally arrived at school & i was certainly in no mood for bullshit today
“look arch- i am still mad okay your my brother and she’s my best friend i hate having to pick corners it’s not fair- what you and veronica did was wrong okay? but i stand by you because your my brother but that doesn’t mean that i ive forgiven you for what you did”
he nods staring blankly at me “i guess I’ll take it” I give him a single nod before getting out of the car and walking off to find betty i was definitely not in the mood to wait for my brother and face her with him.
i spot her leaning against her locker, “Betty!” i call out. She smiles when she see,s me she looks a lot better almost like last night never happened. i approach her giving her a small hug and a small squeeze on the shoulder
“your still wearing that?” she smirks at me. i glance down at juggies jacket “it’s warm, plus i can return it to him today” i finish closing my locker
“yeah okay whatever, oo i have something to pick up from the office wanna come with” i nod following the girl “how you feeling?” she shrugs “im over it” i nod >
we enter the office and i spot a huge vase of yellow flowers, “are they for betty?” i point and betty widens her eyes opening the car perched on top of the bouquet, my eyes widen even more “from v? as in-”
“veronica” the three of us say in unison, we turn to see Veronica standing in the door way holding a box “i also got you some cupcakes i flew them in from New York” i side eye Betty and furrow my brows giving her the ‘are you serious look’
i sit back and watch as veronica vows to never do anything like that again and beg for Betty’s forgiveness and as Betty is in fact Betty she stupidly forgives her and now they are back to best buds typical
“im actually surprised that you forgave her so easily, i would’ve made her grovel a bit” i tell her as i smell her flowers “yeah i know you would c'mon i have free period let’s go to the lounge”
“do you think if i act upset she’ll fly me in cupcakes too?” i joke earning a chuckle from Betty “atta girl” i wink at her as we exit the office. “you’re impossible” she jokes.
thats when we pass the familiar brunette standing a this locker his eyes already locked on me, we walk past him and i send him a shy smile “hey juggie” he’s cheeks tint and as he smiles stupidly at the ground “hey-” he mumbles a smile clear on his face
