❗👁🗨see closeups and a little comments below, under the 'keep reading' thing (i seem to like this feature a lot lol) i have once again added a few subtle things for attentive eyes to notice
aside from pointing at the pumpkin sign ands the galaxian wars poster and giggling evilly overall about this, want to give special comments on the sky - it's the constellation of dragon, with claw marks at its neck; earlier today in the evening in this position in china (i checked for beijing and shanghai) dragon constellation would be visible above the horizon in the north-west. for you to interpret👀

TDC Halloween AU
Ordon is the type of dad to strictly give out one piece per childling you can’t convince me otherwise
Laesid and Bellanji like to just leave the bowl out (Naia always steals it early into the night before anyone else can get it.)
Mayrin will just make the butler do it, or Seladon if she doesn’t make her take her sisters.
Skeksis usually can’t be bothered to give out candy, but when they do, they make the poddling do it and usually SkekAyuk likes to put in gross ingredients (make some candy spicey or cause burping, that sorta thing.)
Rian likes to gather all the kids who are either his friends or like to get a lot of candy and delegate them to maximize profits and all get the most candy for all of them. The older kids like Tolyn and Gurjin are sent to take them trick or treating to keep them in line, Tolyn does but Gurjin turns his eyes away or joins in.
Kylan has to remind everyone to play civil and most of the night breaks up other childling arguing over trading. He does it so much that often Tolyn has to ask for candy for his brother since Kylan is always too busy with making sure no one fights to get candy.
Juni’s house is the most popular on the block as they not only put up spooky decorations but give out full sized candy bars.
Brea likes to look up facts about the candy companies or candy in general and tell everyone as they’re getting it.
Tavra dislikes candy, but goes out to spend time with her sisters, always giving up her candy to Seladon who she knows loves candy even though she denies it.
The librarian tells stories to childling who come up to his door, often his house getting avoided as while they are spooky, they take up a lot of time.
Cadia lives across the street and does the same thing. Who’s ever trick or treaters leaves the door last wins. They try to one up each other, both having the best candy in the neighborhood and trying to get Rian to come to their door as he’s the town’s poster childling tricker treater. He never goes to either though since Ordon tells him not to and it’d be a time waster.
Deet reminds everyone not to give candy to any animals. Also brings treats of her own in case kids can’t eat candy they’re given due to health issues.
Deet’s dads don’t like giving out candy since it can exclude kids so they give out stuffed animals instead.
Rek’yr throws a party for all the adults at night. Most go to discuss the night’s events, kid’s costumes, decorations, though Mayrin and Ordon skip out to spend time with family while the rest of the adults go.
Maudra Argot is said to be a “wild child” at said parties.
Maudra Mera bakes cookies from scratch for trick or treaters.
SkekMal will take one childling per Halloween and childling are told not to go near the forest. It’s why big kids are forced to watch after the younger ones (even though some would rather be studying or going to the big party on the block).
That’s it! Give me some recs for anyone I missed ^^

The Raid
Summary: Dean x Reader - Dean and the reader goes on a Halloween candy raid to stock up their sugar arsenal.
Triggers: None, just fluff
Word Count: 3894
Y/N = Your name ¦ Y/L/N = Your Last Name ¦ Y/H/C = Your hair colour ¦ Y/E/C = Your Eye Colour
---
“You ready to go (Y/N)?” Dean was already in the doorway leading out of the bunker when you walked out of your room, dressed and clearly ready to go.
“Yup,” You said, smiling up at him and tying your (Y/H/C) hair in a loose ponytail as you basically bounced up the steps to where he was waiting patiently. Well… Waiting. The jury was still out on the patience part.
The hunter was nearly bouncing up and down in excitement as he waited for you to join him by the door so that he could hurry you out towards the Impala. Sure, you were excited too. Though it was clearly for a different reason. Namely, the chance of spending some time alone with the man you had secretly been in love with for years.
“You got the list?” Dean asked when you finally reached him, his eyes going to the bag slung over your shoulder before bright green eyes locked with yours expectantly.
“Yes Dean,” You said with a raised eyebrow, slightly shrugging the shoulder your bag was hanging from to make the bag bounce a little and draw the attention back to it before you got lost in the fairy tale forest in his eyes.
“You know the plan yeah?” Dean continued, apparently still feeling the need to interrogate you, though he seemed to want nothing more than to hurry on out the door.
“God Dean,” You finally sighed, nudging the oldest Winchester with your shoulder before walking past him and into the cool autumn air outside. “You’d think we were going on a hunt instead of just raiding stores for Halloween candy,”
“We need to stock up!” Dean insisted, once more jumping on the sales pitch he’d thrown your way when he first invited you along on his yearly Trick or Treat raid. “It’s the….
“...Easiest time of year to buy bucket loads without weird looks and saving a few bucks as well,” You interrupted, finishing his pitch for him before you started walking backwards towards the car with a grin, loving the boyish smile he gave you in return as he joined you. Ready to raid a few stores for Halloween goodies and return back to the bunker to share the loot.
“Ready for some trick or treating Winchester?”
“Hell yes (Y/L/N),”
---
“This place always has the best stock,” Dean’s voice was a conspiratorial whisper as you walked through the doors of the shop the fabricated shopping list Dean had you make in hand. For some reason he’d insisted taking the raid to the next level, saying you needed to “go undercover” as a couple to get the candy in an inconspicuous way. ‘Cause clearly only couples were expecting kids to come trick or treating at their door.
You didn’t really understand his logic, nor his reasoning. But hell, he was the candy raid master, you were just a mere apprentice learning the tricks of the trade. That, and constantly rolling your eyes whenever one of the brothers did something nonsensical usually came with an awful migraine. So you’d learned to go along with it, instead of risking your eyesight and sanity. And honestly, you didn’t exactly hate having his large hand at the small of your back as he kept close and lead you through the shop towards the large bins with Halloween candy. After years of pining for the hunter your heart was about ready to burst from even the smallest bit of contact.
Still, in some cases, like crazy fabricated undercover ops to get candy, you couldn’t help ask.
“Tell me again why we’re going to such great lengths to get candy?” Drawn in by his own whispered way of speaking you couldn’t help but to copy him as you stage whispered the question, trying to keep your voice from betraying the way your heart was beating out of your chest.
“Because it’s easier for couples to buy bucket loads,” Dean said, the same words he’d given you when first throwing his raid pitch your way earlier that week. Actually, you could’ve sworn they were the exact same words. Almost like the older hunter had rehearsed them the way you sometimes had to rehearse the complicated elements of your background stories on hunts.
Still, unlike you’d done a week ago, where the excitement of spending a day alone with Dean had blinded you of the obvious holes in is reasoning, you just couldn’t let it go that easy. Curiosity might have killed the cat, but hell you were a badass hunter. Curiosity could just try to attack you. It’d end up with a good ol’ fashioned ass whooping.
“Why though?” You pushed, still keeping your voice low as you wandered through the aisles towards the candy section. Dean’s hand still securely on your lower back and sticking close enough that it was a miracle he hadn’t heard your erratic heartbeat yet. “Everybody buys sweets for Halloween?” You added when the oldest Winchester brother didn’t answer you right away.
“Uhm… ‘Cause, I dunno it just is,” Dean stammered, his obviously suspisious way of speaking not lost on you. After years of pretending to be police officers, marshals and FBI on cases you knew when someone wasn’t telling the truth. Yet, before you could question him any further, Dean spoke up again. Giving up on whispering once his target was in sight. “Oh look there it is!” Clearly, he was trying to change the subject, but seeing the childish glee in his eyes you decided to drop the issue. At least for a while.
Instead you opted for enjoying a day spent pretending to be Dean Winchester’s girlfriend. All to get as many sweets as possible. Your little undercover raid bringing you from store to store on the premise of getting ready for trick or treaters. With Dean’s arm constantly either around your waist or wrapped around yours.
After all, it was that time of year, where people got to dress up and pretend to be what they always wanted to be. Why shouldn’t you be allowed to for once live the dream of mutual love? Why couldn’t that be your “costume” for once?
---
You got a big haul… Actually big didn’t even begin to cover it. You doubted you’d run out of candy anytime soon. Hell, you could probably survive for years on the loot you’d picked up. Willy Wonka would’ve been proud.
Looking at the bags of Halloween treats on the table you watched as Dean picked out two smaller bags from the mountain of candy and hand one to you. His smile contagious as he rooted around in his bag, making you copy him as you dove into your first share of the Halloween loot.
“Damn it, I got the twizzlers, I don’t really like twizzlers,” You pouted, pulling the pack out of your bag and waving it at him. Part of being partners in not-so-criminal activities meant that you could exchange parts of your loot with his. Though of course it only counted for the part you were busy stuffing your faces with. For some reason Dean had very strict rules when it came to his yearly Halloween raids.
Honestly, it was pretty cute.
“I’ll trade you the Twizzlers for my Skittles,” Dean said through a mouthful of marshmallow. The man was like Flash, but with sweet consumption. You’d barely had the time to look into your bag and he was already stuffing his face like a squirrel. In times like this, Crowley’s nickname for the oldest Winchester brother seemed pretty spot on. Though you’d never tell Dean that.
“Deal! You said, throwing the Twizzlers towards him just as he threw you the Skittles, both you putting your hunter reflexes to good use as you caught your newly traded sweets. Popping a toffee chocolate into your mouth you continued rooting through your bag. From time to time throwing stolen glances towards Dean.
“Wanna trade my pop rock candies for something?” Dean said, holding up the sweets just as your hands wrapped around a small box of jelly beans, another not so favourite sweet of yours.
“Trade ya for some jelly beans,” You said shaking the box. Both of you grinning like children after a particularly fruitful trick or treating session as you made the exchange whilst stealing bites of your respective favourites from the bag. Your little back and forth of candy exchanges continuing as you munched your way through your reward for a well-executed raid.
---
After a little while of quick back and forth trades Dean suggested moving the raid party to the couch with a movie and some beer or whiskey. And though you found yourself wondering what kind of alcohol paired well with sour patch kids you readily joined him on the couch. Happy to get off your feet after a day of constantly chasing that sugar rush across town.
That, and after a day of being so close to him, the thought of ending the evening and just walking back to your own room felt kinda lonely. No, you knew it had all just been a Halloween dream for a day, but for a few more hours, until midnight came and you had to return to reality, you just wanted a few more minutes, hours even, of stolen glances and shared sweets with the man you secretly loved.
As well as maybe getting the actual reason for the candy raid undercover sting operation. It still made no sense to you. Since no one commented on anything, nor looked at you strangely as you paid for bags after bags of candy.
“Ok, it’s time for you to spill the beans Dean. And not of the jellied variety,” You said, eyebrow raised in a challenge as you half turned to face him on the couch. The horror movie playing on low volume in the background as you decided to fully drill him about his reason once again now that he had no easy way of changing the subject.
Your sudden demand for answers almost had Dean choke on a wine gum sweet shaped like a bat, yet the smooth operator easily recovered and twisted a little to smile at you with a small chuckle. The deep vibrato in his voice sending pleasurable shivers up and down your spine.
“I told ya, and today should be proof enough. If I walked around alone I would’ve gotten funny looks,” Dean tried once more, though you didn’t buy it. There had been several people buying candy by the bucket load in the store and not all of them were there with a partner.
“No, I don’t buy it,” You frowned, slightly confused by the hunter’s reasoning as you mentally decided to keep pushing, no matter if he tried to change the subject this time. Of course, you hadn’t counted on the sneaky bastard knowing just the thing to shut you up and change the subject as he pulled out his ace from the bag on his lap. Your favourite chocolate bar.
“Oooo! Give it!” You involuntary squealed when you caught Dean pull the chocolate bar from the contents of his bag. Sure, you knew he was doing it on purpose. After knowing the man for so many years it wasn’t hard to read him. Especially not when that little smirk grew on his lips. Though there seemed to be almost something nervous about the little half smile this time. You could’ve sworn the corner of his mouth was shaking slightly. Though of course that could’ve been from the excessive amount of sugar the two of you had consumed.
“Ok, I’ll trade ya,” Dean said, uncharacteristically clearing his throat and reaching for his beer, the usual boyish grin he’d given you with every other trade nowhere to be seen. His hand seemed to shake as he took a sip of beer as the shake seemed to seep from the corner of his mouth and into his words.
“For what?” You said, already fully falling for the change of subject as you rooted through your own bag of Halloween treats. Though you promised yourself you’d bring it right back up after you got your chocolate bar.
“If I give you this… You have to promise to forget everything I’m about to say right after I’ve said it, and we’ll go back to watching movies and drinking beer. Like nothing ever happened,” The hunter’s surprising, non-glucose deal made your hand freeze where it had been grabbing for random candy in the bag as your brow furrowed slightly. “Deal?”
Ok, so this had to be about the strange raid, but why the secrecy? A million different reasons flashed through your mind, but none seemed to want to stick, being either too farfetched or just idiotic. What could make the strongest hunter you knew so nervous? Part of you wanted to know, and part of you was slightly worried. But hell, you’d never listened to the part of your brain that focused on worries, fear and all those other neat emotions that were there to keep you alive (that was probably part of what made you such a good hunter), and you weren’t planning on starting now.
“Deal,”
---
The silence still dragged on as Dean held on to the chocolate, hesitating for a second as those bright green eyes darkened slightly, like a storm had overtaken the same enchanted forest you only hours earlier had tried to not get lost in. Finally, with a shaky breath Dean handed over the chocolate, finishing the deal as he wet his lips to speak. An action you tried not to focus too much on as you knew even a quick glance down at those full lips would leave you too preoccupied to actually figure out your Halloween mystery.
“Ok… So the whole undercover thing today…” Dean’s words faded out towards the end as the hunter lost the initial courage he’d built up for his confession. The muttered swearword that followed his annoyed sigh only furthering that little curious itch in you. Though you couldn’t help feeling bad, putting him on the spot like that.
“Dean…” You started, about to tell the man he didn’t need to tell you. Clearly it was something big, and you didn’t want to force him to confess just because of your damned incurable curiosity. Yet before you could get any further Dean silenced you with a look. Clearly he was determined to tell you, though it seemed hard for him to do so, his fingers tensing and relaxing over his knees as he took another deep breath.
“I made it all up,” The confession left Dean so quickly you could barely understand it straight away. Instead you had to play it back in your head, loosening the knots that tied the words together until you got a full sentence out of them. The words proving what you’d pretty much already thought, since it was a pretty shitty cover story to being with. You didn’t comment however, instead staying patiently silent as you waited for the hunter to continue.
Stopping to take another big mouthful of beer, as if the amber liquid could give him the needed courage, Dean tore at the bottle label instead of looking back up at you. His mouth opening and closing fruitlessly a few times as he tried to find the words.
“It was all a lie. I kinda… I made up the whole thing to spend time with you,” Dean finally said, looking slightly lighter the minute the words left him, as if a burden had been lifted off of his shoulders. That first real admission seemed to open the flood gates. The words coming easier as Dean continued speaking to the beer bottle instead of you. Completely missing your dumbfounded look. “I know it’s pretty cringe-worthy, but I just thought, that maybe… Since it’s Halloween and everyone gets to dress up as what they wanna be, I could at least get to pretend we…”
“What do you mean Dean?” You finally interrupted him, as the flood of words didn’t seem likely to stop. “You pretended we had to go undercover… To spend time with me? We’re always together,”
“Yeah… I’m sorry, I know I lied. I know it’s a pretty shitty thing to do, but I just….” Dean’s fingers had resumed their steady tearing of the label as he scolded himself. His forehead creased and jaw straining in the same way you’d seen him act whenever he blamed himself for a mistake during a hunt. “I just wanted to try it out once… See how it would be if we were actually a couple in real life, instead of it just all stayin’ in my head,”
For a second you couldn’t speak. Hell… You could barely think. Based on what Dean was saying it made it seem like he had feelings for you too. Granted, it was a strange way of showing them, but you knew how terrified the hunter was of losing people. How scared he was of getting close enough to someone to risk losing them. And you didn’t have the right to say anything, you’d been doing the same thing as well. Loving the fact that you could pretend Dean Winchester was yours, if only for a few hours.
You parted your lips slightly, getting ready to answer him, though you didn’t exactly know what words to use. Half of your vocabulary had basically slipped from your mind during the initial shock. Yet, before you could say anything Dean spoke again. His voice louder and laced with fake cheerfulness.
“Ok! We made a deal, and I kept mine, so now you have to keep yours and forget about all of this whole convo,” Dean said, finally looking back up at you from the bottle. Yet, the boyish grin he tried to give you as he laughed it all off was stiff and unnatural before he turned to face the TV again. Not giving you the chance to tell him how you’d been acting the same way.
“Dean…” You started, still trying, though the hunter seemed determined to kill the subject completely. Shaking his head the minute you started speaking before he spoke up to stop you.
“You promised (Y/N),” Dean tried to keep his voice light, but you could hear that self-deprecating weakness in it that sometimes hung like a shadow across the shoulders of the hunter. Painting him in contrasting colours, as a man who loved too much, yet didn’t believe he was worthy of love.
Shutting your mouth, you instead busied yourself with rooting through your bag until giving up actually finding anything bribe worthy and instead holding out the first thing your fingers closed around.
“Wanna trade?” Your voice was barely a whisper as you held out the piece of candy without looking down at it. Dean however did, brow furrowing in confusion as he looked from the Halloween candy in your hand and up at you. A shimmer of understanding running through his eyes as they finally met with your serious ones.
“That’s the chocolate bar I just gave you…” Dean started, clearly unwilling to make the trade and hear you out. With a sigh you put the chocolate back in the bag and held out the full bag between the two of you.
“Just hear me out Winchester…” You said, trying to sound more authoritative than you really felt. And clearly failing majestically, since even you could detect the way your voice shook. This time however, you didn’t give him the time to disagree or say no to the trade. Instead you dropped the bag between the two of you onto the couch pillow as you spoke. Offering up the trade without letting him reject it before leaping off a ledge you’d never thought you’d dare falling over. “I did the same thing,”
Dean’s eyes that had been focused on the candy bag lifted until he was instead fully focused on you. Yet, as a series of silent questions flashed across his eyes, the room stayed silent around you. Save for the TV where the heroine was busy screaming for help from… Hell, you didn’t know, you hadn’t been paying attention.
“What do you mean?” Dean finally said, after the silence had dragged on for a while. The sudden sound of his deep voice a shock to the system in the quiet room as you felt your shoulders tense. Forcing your muscles to relax you squeezed your eyes shut and let out a shaky breath before you kept speaking.
“Today…. I was happy going on a candy raid with you, because it let me live for a day feeling like I was actually yours...” You said, your words barely even a whisper as you focused on the bag of candy between the two of you instead of the man you loved. “...That you were mine. If you believe you did something wrong, then so did I,”
“Wait so you…” Dean copied your low whisper as he spoke. His voice still shook, yet some of the darkness seemed to have disappeared. Replaced instead with hopeful confusion. That little glimmer of light, a twinkle of happiness, was all the further urging you needed. A small smile building on your lips as you finally looked up at him and spoke up, voice clearer and slightly louder in the empty Men of Letters bunker.
“Yes, you adorable dork. I have feelings for you, and I was happy to pretend to be your girlfriend and spend the day, just you and me,” You said, hoping you hadn’t misunderstood what he meant by his earlier words. You hadn’t right? No, it was too late to regret your words either way. You had laid it all bare, and honestly it was as if a huge weight had been lifted off of your shoulders and chest. Like you could finally breathe again. Dean however, still looked a bit confused.
“You what?”
“You heard me Winchester. I’m in love with you, so don’t go making a martyr out of yourself just yet,” You said, voice shaking slightly as you watched the man struggle with understanding your words next to you. Yet, as the last shadows of confusion left his eyes and the bright, magical forest green colour returned you felt the shaking subside.
“I’m in love with you too, have been for the longest time,” Dean’s voice was clear and loud as he spoke. No hesitation, no guilt, audible as he beamed at you. That boyish grin back with full force as his eyes locked with you. The mix of words and that breathtaking smile making your heart do somersaults in your chest as your own timid smile grew.
“Took you long enough Winchester,” You said, your own smile bright and real as you watched Dean pick up the bag of candy between you and unceremoniously drop it on the coffee table. His eyes never leaving your (Y/E/C) ones the whole time until he finally moved closer to you until you were within arms reach.
“Shut up (Y/L/N),” Dean shot back, though there was nothing but happiness in his voice as he leaned in. Shutting you up himself with a kiss tasting faintly of sugar and chocolate and sweeter than any Halloween candy ever could be.
