Prologue
Prologue summary
“Wukong lost someone so dear to him in the battle of the raging war in the Pearl of the Orient Sea. Many years have passed, but he has found her again… or perhaps she has found him.”
Author’s Note
“Hello, I want to make a fanfiction where our MC is a Filipina”
“The wind in the air feels nice”
Those were her last words, spoken as I held her in my arms, her life bleeding away. Her beautiful hair, once vibrant, was stained crimson. Blood marred her exquisite skin, dimming the light in her once-bright eyes, which now stared dully at me.
“Peaches...?”
My voice cracked. She lay still in my arms, numb, cold—so terribly, unbearably cold. Tears escaped, tracing a path down my cheeks and onto her face. Even in death, she was beautiful.
“WUKONG...!”
“WUKONG!!!”
My eyes flickered open to see MK staring at me, worry etched on his face. He really did care, this kid. It reminded me of her. A smile spread across my face as I approached him, ruffling his hair. "Hey, kid! You're early." MK sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck, a grin tugging at his lips. "Well… I came because I wanted you to meet my best friend! She's from the Philippines, and… well, she's your biggest fan! …Besides me, of course!"
“You know well enough ki-”
He cut me off abruptly, his hands flailing as he struggled to stammer out his words, his stutter tripping him up.
“I know! I know! It’s just that I wanted you to meet her! But she is special!! Really is!!”
"Special?" I echoed, confusion twisting in my gut. I was about to ask what he meant when my gaze landed on a familiar sight in the background. The same eyes, the same skin, the same smile… My heart plummeted as I saw her, looking around the area. Her eyes darted to me, and just like thousands of years ago, that familiar warmth bloomed on my cheek, my stomach fluttering in response. Oh, how I missed her smile, her eyes, the way she looked at me… Fuck. Was my mind playing tricks on me?
“Monkey king?”
MK’s voice cut me off the trans that I was in moments ago
“Monkey king? Are you okay? Are you not feeling well? If not- “
I cut the boy off with my sound of my chuckle, I look at him smiling and again ruffles his hair
“Pshhh kid! Do you know who your mentor is? I’m the Monkey king I never get sick!”
And that I gently push him to the side and extend my arms to her.
“Hey! I’m Monkey King!”
I want to touch her.. I want to touch her hand, I want to feel her warmth so bad I wanted to know that she is real, I want to know that she is here... Alive.
Oh please buddah...don't let this be a dream.. oh please no...
She look at me adoration filled her eyes as she takes my hand, her warm hands… oh how I miss her… I miss her dearly
“It’s nice to see you Monkey King!! Oh my gosh I’ve been you're biggest fan!!”
She happily shakes my arms as her smile shines so brightly. She gently let’s go of my hand and my heart drop for a second when I don’t feel her warmth, I wanted to grab her arms and hold it longer, but I restrain myself
“I’m (Name), it’s so good to finally see you! I- I mean meet you! Monkey King”
I saw her cheek blush, Oh her voice… I can finally hear it for so many years since I’ve last heard it, she continues to tell me about my stories that she has heard from MK, I can’t help but again but to laugh. I wanted her to stay. To Listen to her tell me stories that she heard about me, but I can't, I have to trained MK
“As much as I want to hear you telling me stories that MK told you but alas, I have to train him, your free to roam around the mountain if you like”
She looked at me blushing realizing that she had taken some time, and she held her hair from her sides and used it to cover her face.
“Oh my! Sorry!! For taking your precious time to hear me telling you stories that you already know of!”
She covered her face, a gesture that felt strangely familiar, a déjà vu moment. It was exactly how she'd reacted in her past life when shy or embarrassed. Even after centuries, she hadn't changed. Following her gaze to the left, I flinched at a soft gasp. She hurried toward a nearby rock, where dozens of baby monkeys stared at her with wide, curious eyes. Her face lit up; a radiant smile bloomed as she interacted with them. The slightly older monkeys recognized her instantly. I heard MK chuckle softly as he watched her playful interaction with the little creatures.
“Wow, never knew she was good with animals”
He giggled, and I couldn't help but giggle along. I tugged MK's shoulder, giving him my most smug smirk. "C'mon, kid," I said, and a determined look, a matching smile, spread across his face as he ran toward the training area. Before catching up, I turned to the older monkeys and whispered…
“ Watch her while I trained MK kay?”
I whispered to them, where they gave me a bright smile and I patted their heads.
“MONKEY KING”
I heard MK yelled which I chuckles, and using my cloud I quickly go to MK sides and I saw him readying himself which I gave him a smirk
“Let’s get this started”
---------
A loud clash and yelling could be heard a few blocks away, causing me to look toward the sound. There, I saw MK and the Monkey King training. Never in my life had I met the legendary Monkey King! I’ve never felt so honored. I remembered being amazed by Journey to the West as a child. I'm so thankful I met MK; otherwise, I wouldn't have met the Monkey King! I'll be forever grateful to MK.
"Chirp!" I was startled from my thoughts by a small chirp. Looking down, I saw the most adorable, cutest little monkey! I couldn't help but gently pick it up and kiss its forehead. It seemed so friendly, which was odd, as I'd read that monkeys can be aggressive, especially with their young.
"Hey there, little one!" I squeaked, gently putting the baby monkey down as others joined us. This made me giggle.
“OOF”
I let out an "Oof!" as a monkey jumped onto my back and began grooming me. I appreciated this affectionate gesture. I laughed and gently put the monkey down. Then, I heard someone calling my name.
“(Name)!”
I paused, my gaze sweeping across the chattering monkeys. Their ears, surprisingly large and sensitive-looking, twitched, swiveling towards the sound as if on invisible hinges. They'd heard it too. A chill prickled my skin, not just from the slight breeze rustling through the leaves overhead, but a deeper, primal unease. The air itself seemed to thicken, heavy with an unseen presence. I could almost taste the metallic tang of fear on my tongue as I bit my lip, the rough texture of my teeth a stark contrast to the sudden clamminess of my skin. My arm hairs prickled, tiny needles against my flesh, and I rubbed my arms frantically, the rough fabric of my shirt scratching against my already tense skin in a desperate attempt to ground myself. The scent of damp earth and decaying leaves, usually comforting in this jungle setting, now felt suffocating, heavy like a shroud.
“(NAME)”
A jolt, sharp as a thrown dagger, shot through me at the renewed whisper of my name. I scrambled to my feet, a desperate carrying me towards MK and the Monkey King, the tiny monkey a frantic compass leading the way.
“(Name)…”
I heard my name, softer this time, brushed against my ears like a phantom's touch. It snagged my feet, halting my forward momentum. A knot of unease tightened in my chest, a persistent whisper urging me to look behind, to see who called. My brain screamed, a stark, panicked "NO!! DANGER," but the nagging feeling in my chest was relentless. Against my better judgment, I yielded to its insistent pull, twisting around to face…nothing. A hollow emptiness met my gaze. Frustration, raw and sharp, clawed at me. I bit back a curse, spun back around, and resumed my hurried trek toward MK and the Monkey King's training area. It was…odd. Unsettlingly strange.

Mortem laughed lightly at the thought of his boredom leading him to harass the Heavens. She'd love to be a fly on the wall for that. Upsetting deities was a respectable hobby, in her opinion. Though, given his reputation, she was sure it would cause quite the stir.
"But I see your meaning. I've had plenty come to my home demanding the same. Or not even having the courtesy to ask - sometimes they go straight for the jugular under their own assumptions." Mortem lamented playfully. She wasn't really that bothered, it kept life semi-interesting. At least, when someone worth the interest came along. But even when it wasn't someone of interest, at least the corpses could make for good fertilizer for her gardens.
Despite the audacity the deities had, she supposed it was nice they recognized his power enough to talk first instead of trying to attack. Showed a bit of wisdom on their behalf, also meant his mountain wasn't constantly getting banged up or worse. Unlike her cabin. The enchantments she had to place upon it to cease fixing it constantly was a bit ridiculous - if not a bit sad.
Tumblr media
His opinion of the festival was one she was amused by. It was rather quaint they upheld such a tradition, especially in an age where harvests weren't a thing mortals struggled with any longer. Still, appreciating the trials of the past was something that would always garner her respect. The importance of history, the value and relevancy it had - setting a foundation for the present, as the present set a foundation for the future... it was all of value. She worked hard to ensure history would not be forgotten, regardless of where in the world it could happen.
"If you'd like to attend a festival that celebrates a great battle that was overcome, I certainly know of a place back home. You ought to come visit at the end of spring." She invited. The capital city and high kingdom that unified all the others often held a celebration. A remembrance. It was a bittersweet event, but it possessed a reminder of their history - the value of keeping that knowledge alive was important beyond words. And hearing people speak so fondly, so admirably of the people she knew so longer ago still... It was always worth attending for that alone.
As they walked, she observed the passing people - the happy children, smelled the various foods in the air. All before she noticed his hand signaling her to pause. Curiously, the witch followed - wondering just what caught his eye.
How unexpected... an appreciation for stained glass? He'd really like the festival in her capital, then. Those from the neighboring desert always brought with them sand-blown glass. Wind chimes, vases, art of all kinds with such beautiful craftsmanship.
The chime of it was pretty, no wonder he was drawn to it. Mortem observed the way it swayed, the hum of its chimes, the way the light caught the glass.
"This would look nice upon a mountain, I'd think." She took her chin between her fingers after a moment, "I can imagine the sunlight catching the glass - the breeze making pleasant music." She considered aloud, totally encouraging and enabling him without an ounce of shame. To see such wonder and appreciation from Wukong, well, how could she not suggest such when it clearly made him so happy to see and hear?
From her pouch, she pulled out a coin that would suffice in its payment. It idly rolled across the back of her knuckles before she set it down on the counter before Wukong as a gift - unsure if her new friend had the currency for this country or not. Not wanting him to feel put on the spot to buy it or not, or possibly regarding whether he had the currency or not, the witch walked away to let him decide what he wanted to do. She opted to meander down the tables, admiring the glasswork as she flicked a bell from another wind chime along the way.
Money meant nothing to someone as old as she. What was priceless was seeing the little joys that adorned another's face. Especially the face of someone whose company she was enjoying.
Tumblr media
The sounds of children, people talking among one another, of animals and who knows what else, Sun was starting to be glad he had the correct number of ears. He wondered, idly, how Macaque would deal with this much sound; if he’d get overwhelmed, or would simply ‘turn off’ his ears in favour of whichever company he tended to keep in this day and age. Sun knew he wouldn’t be part of said company, but he couldn’t help but to wonder about his fellow Stone Monkey during celebrations.
❝Well, you’d be happy to know that I’ve been bored lately. So perhaps the Heavens will get a visitor some time soon.❞ The Monkey had said, grinning, as if he was already scheming away; making plans and ideas to cause as much havoc as he could.
Or, perhaps, he’ll simply visit; cause them more anxiety knowing that the Monkey King was simply around and doing not a thing to disturb their holy lands. He knew that’ll cause the most trouble, to do nothing and simply grin – a prologue to the schemes he could be planning, and the anxieties that came with him.
Yes, the Heavens were nothing but peaceful; there was barely a ruckus to happen, unless one of the many Deities decided to do something. The last he heard, Nezha had a position of high respect – the kid, he remembered, being a thorn in his side when they last fought. He was glad the boy grew up into such a role, and he wondered if the Bull Demon’s son was still underneath the Goddess’ control, or if they were back together with their family. . .
. . . Although, he did piss off the Bull Demon in his later life; causing a rift in their brotherhood. It didn’t matter to Sun either way.
If the Bull Demon wanted to hate him over actions beyond his control, then so be it.
❝It’s nice, yes, to be checked up on but. . . Don’t you think most people would have more tack? Instead of coming to my home, and demanding to know what I’m up too.❞ He complained, although from his tone it was obvious it was nothing to be upset about. In fact, he seemed to miss it – a longing was in his voice, as if wishing for more intrusion from the Heavens would do him some good.
For a moment, the Monkey King wondered how it’d go if he was to have a visitor to his mountain whilst he was out; no doubt, it’ll cause a commotion in the Heavens.
Where did the Monkey King go, away from his people and mountain?
As children and people ran about – slipping by people without a second thought, still as agile as ever even with his tail wrapped around his waist – Sun couldn’t help but to hum out at the Witch’s explanation.
❝A, a festival of a bountiful harvest! How kind of them, to still celebrate such things.❞ He said, golden eyes everywhere but at the company he had besides him; falling on the booths of trinkets and novelistic goods. He was interested, certainly, but not enough to buy.
He had enough treasure and goods at home within his mountain; far more than he know what to do with, trinkets and do-da’s that even the Hells would get upset of him having. One of the most dangerous must’ve been the ink scroll he had hidden away, but hidden exactly he didn’t know. He needed to keep that protect the most, for it held. . .
❝Here I had hope this was a festival celebrating a win of sorts; although I doubt most would hold such events for such things now a days. Most ‘wins’ in the world these days tend to be celebrated at one’s home instead.❞ If this city was at war before, Sun couldn’t tell now; it’s people were cheerful, and unharmed by what war could do to a population.
There was no tired warriors walking about, longing for today to be over so they could go home to their families, nor was there a chorus of people celebrating a victory. It was as Mortem had said:
A festival of harvest.
One thing finally caught his attention for it shined in the light – catching his bright eyes with a refraction of light. He paused, bringing his hand up to tell her to pause, as he went to look. Hanging from a booth, from a vendor far too old to be handling a busy table at such a festival, was a stain glass wind chime of sorts, it gentle chime also causing the Monkey’s ears.
It was gorgeous as gorgeous could be; it’s stain glass of purples and blues and greens and teals caught the sun’s light and shined it colours about. With such child-like amazement. He was bewitched, it seemed, by it.

Personally, I think the reason for that is because Macaque has actually shown up again after being killed, but before episode 9.
Especially since there's no surprise from Wukong at all- he instantly knows who it is when he sees the symbol on MK's back, but he, for some reason, doesn't actually interfere until Macaque takes MK's powers (and it's kinda implied that he'd been watching, why else would his first sentence be "Enough"? I personally like to hc that it was Wukong giving Macaque a brief benefit of the doubt, but y'know.)
Some of this could just be because all the details about Macaque and Wukong's past weren't entirely planned out at that point, but still.
To be honest, as interested as I am in seeing the fight that took Macaque's life, I am also interested, if not more so, in seeing what their actual first meeting post-Macaque's death was like.
Not sure if I’m over-analyzing but
I jut realized that while SWK expresses genuine surprise that Azure Lion is there in front of him, openly saying “I [killed you] myself, how are you here?”… he never expresses such a thing with Macaque.
Sure, it did take him a few episodes to go “Hey wait a sec” with Azure, but it literally is never brought up with Macaque… There’s only anger and taunting.
….seriously, what actually happened, and did he actually kill him or not?

you should know better than to ask a lady her age (nezha x reader)
content warnings: female reader, second pov (you/your), reader is a goddess and has tamayo vibes, nezha is nezha just more feral, mild age gap (both are adults on their first meeting + reader appears in her late twenties and nezha between 24-25 > author has no idea what counts as early/late twenties), all fluff and wholesome stuff, swooning nezha, nezha bullies mk once and wukong multiple times (biggest nezha opp), li jing is his own warning tbh
author's notes: demon slayer x lmk crossover when?
Meeting you was a dream Nezha could never want to forget. It was one of his life's greatest mistakes, and yet for once in his life, it was one he held no regrets for. Not one bit, when the feelings he held for you were so pure and filled with nothing but the utmost passion. To him, you meant the world, and perhaps more.
“Nezha, is it?” Soft hands run through his hair, undoing the messy braids he'd struggled to tie just this morning. “An interesting name for a god like him.”
“Does it matter?” Above him, his father crosses his arm. “Can you heal him, or not?”
The soft voice sighs melancholy. It reminds him of a lullaby, sung to him by a distant voice during a thunderstorm. The hands that thread through his hair still, and the warmth spreads through his body. Gentle fingers press into his scalp, massaging the tender skin.
Then, there is silence.
“That's it?” Li Jing's bitter voice breaks the silence. “That's all?”
“I must remind you, my lord, that this humble servant is not as powerful as her elders.” The hands in his hair gently rub a pattern. “And she has done her best for this lotus prince. All that remains now is for him to rest and allow his body to heal on its own.”
He feels fine, though. Whatever this stranger had done, his body has never felt more alive. It was opposite feeling he had felt before, when Taiyi had restored him.
His father ‘tsks’ angrily. “He'll be fine. He's not some child to rest at every interval.”
He anticipates whoever the stranger is to agree with him.
“Li Jing. You are correct that this is no child, but he is, theoretically, your son. And unless you imply your wife has made you wear a green hat, there is nothing in this world that can change the shared blood you two will have even until death. Have some sympathy, won't you?”
Ah. This was a strange feeling, having someone stand up to that prick of a father he had. Something warm fills his chest at the thought.
It's only when a door slams shut that Nezha dares to open his eyes. A kind woman is looking down at him, with nothing but a smile on her lips.
“Hello, Nezha.” You spoke his name so kindly, filled nothing but gentleness. “I'm glad you're awake. How are you feeling?”
A goddess. No, something else indeed.
Nezha had zero qualms dedicating his life's purpose to you. It's not like he had much to do anyway, and the Jade Emperor did not seem to mind his attachment to you so long as he did his duties. Li Jing complained often, and for all Nezha knew, most definitely still did, about this vulnerability he showed the goddess that healed him, but the Lotus Prince found that he did not give one fuck. Why should he care if his father had a stick up his ass about his relationship with the goddess that healed him? Lady (Name) held no complaints towards his presence, and thus, any other complaints from outsiders were ignored.
And you truly had nothing against Nezha's presence at your side. Since the day he had found himself lying on your lap, he seemed to hold some form of attachment and loyalty towards you. You put it off as his attempt at being grateful, even though you really didn't mind. Helping people was always one of the joys you held ever so dearly in your immortal life. Nezha really didn't need to express his gratefulness…
Though his company was nothing short of welcoming. The Lotus Prince, for all his grumpy attitude and sulky expressions, was a dear to be around, and you quite liked how his expression would always turn so adorably pink when you compliment his feats. One of your favorite pastimes with him was styling his hair, and tying colorful ribbons in them for the funs of it.
A few gods and immortals were surprised at the sight, but soon enough they learnt it was best not to ask. Less questions meant less injuries, since a certain prince did not like it when people swooned over your kindness.
You were pretty sure that was why so many patients senses a cold aura every visit, come to think of it. But maybe it was just your imagination and not the lotus prince glaring from the window.
Speaking of which, how did he managed to climb so high??
“Sun Wukong, is it?” You thanked Nezha for the tray that he offered you, your favorite blend of tea―a gift from Nezha's older brother, Jinzha―already made and poured into the fancy porcelain cups you favored so much. The tray was set down on the small table between yourself and your guests, and you offered a cup to each. “And your loyal protege, MK?”
The boy wearing the red bandanna nodded quickly, a noticeable blush on his cheeks. You put it off as excitement, since the moment he'd entered the celestial realm, he'd been gushing about the beauty of the place, top to bottom and back again. His mentor wasn't half as excited, grabbing him by the collar to stop him from running off to who knows where while he sipped on a cup.
“I'm surprised you haven't heard of me,” Sun Wukong remarked, raising a brow at you. “You a new god or something?” When you nodded in confirmation, he blinked. “Ah, that explains it. Pretty sure I would've recognized a pretty face like yours.”
Next to you, Nezha's aura radiated annoyance. Maybe it was just your imagination, but you swore you could feel the god and monkey exchanging heated glares.
Weird.
“You flatter this servant too much,” you answered humbly and smiled. “But it is true that this is the first time I've even heard of you, Sun Wukong.”
“Ah? How old even are you?” MK questioned curiously.
“25 when she first achieved enlightenment. 457 years in mortal terms.” This time, Nezha was the one who spoke. You flashed him a grateful smile―because sadly, you truly kept no track of these things, not when it felt so pointless―but Wukong exchanged a weird look with his protege, especially when Nezha gave him a stink eye. “And you should know better than to ask a lady her age. It's disrespectful.”
“Don't be mean, he meant no harm―” You chided Nezha, gently patting his face. He leaned into your touch with a pleasant smile, and you shook your head at the sweet gesture. “And yes, I've lived long, but not as long as the Prince or Sun Wukong has. I'm afraid there are still many things I am duly unaware of.”
Sun Wukong snickered. “Some more than others, aye, Nezha?”
In response, a golden brick was thrown at the monkey's face. It hit him square on the face, and you gasped as Sun Wukong fell over, holding his face painfully.
“Nezha!” You scolded the lotus prince and gather your robes to stand and examine the fallen Sage. Aside from the red spot on his forehead, he seemed fine, but still whined about the pain he was in. You glanced at Nezha's pouting expression. “That was not very polite! Don't do that again, understood?”
Nezha relented. “Yes, Lady (Name).” Even when angry she's still as beautiful as the morning sun.
Sun Wukong peeked an eye open. He caught the Lotus Prince's gaze from his position on your lap, and while you focused on soothing his pain, he winked.
Let's just say all hell broke loose after that, and Nezha and Sun Wukong owed you a new palace.
“Nyahaha.”
“Fuck you you stupid fucking cock slobbing whore!”
“Nezha!”
“Sorry, Lady (Name).”

Macaques feelings towards wukong
-disclaimer this is just me rambling about something I feel is under utilised in the fandom but I am NOT putting anything else down or saying it’s bad please this just something I’ve had stuck in my head 😭.
In the shadowpeach fandom or the LMK fandom in general I often see wukong being the jealous one or the one who’s awkward and obsessed (or yandere but that’s a whole can of worms on its own) which is fine, but like even canonically in the show? Macaque is OBSESSED with wukong. (Not generally in a “positive”way.
Something happened in there friendship (probably around joining the brotherhood) where macaque stopped seeing wukong as a person and instead an IDOL and HE placed himself behind wukong (his shadow) because of it, no one else put him there and yeah there relationship in general was very much both there fault in some degree. But when you stop viewing someone as a person and instead an idea or fantasy any relationship with them is destined to fail.
When macaque revives he has neutral feelings to everyone maybe fear towards LBD at best, but realistically I don’t even think HE thinks about anyone else except wukong and even back in the brotherhood it’s just wukong not even the others call him brother because he’s not. He’s not there for them he’s there for wukong. When he revives wukong is all he thinks about, when he targets mk he doesn’t even see mk as anything but an extension of wukong just something he can use to get to WUKONG.
Am I saying macaque is a bad unfeeling guy? Well not quite (I’m not up to touching morals and good and bad with 60ft pole rn) unfeeling towards others isn’t true though. In macaques natural state of being (without wukong involved) he’s morally neutral at worst and seems to lean towards neutral good mostly but when wukong enters the picture? Nothing else matters NO ONE else matters and that’s scary.
Wukong in the show (I think this is just a narrative oversight but maybe not) doesn’t really show ANY feelings towards macaque till the later seasons, wukong fights him but only when MK is in danger he seems annoyed at macaque at best but otherwise doesn’t really seem to think about him at all, even when he “teams” up with LBD wukong pays him anymind but only because LBD is involved
[my personal head cannon is that until the defeat of LBD wukong hasn’t processed that macaque is alive and still believes it’s not really him (like he knows it’s macaque on a logical level but hasn’t processed it emotionally) (or he’s also processing that macaque is back AFTER he KILLED him if you believe he did)and that’s why he holds no emotion to him]
In conclusion macaque can be taken to ways with this like in the show he can learn to have healthy relationships and grow OR he can become so much WORSE and I think that’s what’s so fun about fandoms and shipping like yes my old gay monkeys can start to heal and move forward together healthy or they can get worse >:3
[Also wukongs lack of emotionals towards him could be explored to 🤭]

:D!!! Its so nice to get questions about it because that means i get to think better about stuff as i try to word it better in my brain!!
Ok sooo 1) thats a yellow shirt with black sleeves! Though yeah, Chenxiang would be the exact type of kid to wear three shirts at once + skirt over sweatpants
2)Oh!! Yeah i feel like calling it a modern au might give it a more slice-of-life impression, but basically what i meant by it was more of a modern day retelling of Lotus Lantern! So yeah, that's why Wukong is still a monkey, and Erlang still has his third eye, and yeah!you're right on the spot about Erlang being self-conscious about his eye!

Funny little modern day Lotus Lantern au, that's pretty much just an excuse for me to draw my Wukong with cool outifts

LMK Macaque: Jealousy.

Word Count: 1915.
Content/Trigger Warnings: pushy guy that can't take a hint.
Authors Notes: Here's the He's Mad request too ^^. (wip)
<---Previous | Masterlist | Next--->
There were a lot of things Macaque learned since his reincarnation, especially about himself. One thing he never thought would have to be that seeing men around you made his skin crawl. In the few months you've known each other, seeing you smile with someone that wasn't him made his skin crawl. Seeing you laugh and smile with someone else made his skin crawl, and seeing someone make physical contact with you made his fur stand on end, and he often found himself snarling with his tail twitching uncontrollably.
Unfortunately for Macaque, a certain Monkey King had witnessed the snarling this time. Wukong smirked mischievously when he saw what had made his beloved friend so… primal. He studied Macaque closely as the male, he forgot his name, constantly flirted with you. Now, usually Wukong would have put the guy in his place for bugging you… BUT SEEING MACAQUE LIKE THIS WAS SO FUCKING HILARIOUS!
The male in question was the one you went on a double date with, from what you had told Wukong, it was when you saw Macaque again. Did he get past his jealousy at how close you got to the other demon? Course not, but he eventually learned to get over himself since you seemed happy when you told him about what happened that day, and how your date went.
Since then, Wukong and basically everyone else, but you noticed how possessive Macaque was where you were concerned, especially if you get hit on.
Sooo… like right now. As you promised, you visited the noodle shop the first chance you got. You ‘just so happened’ to run into Macaque on the way there so you invited him to tag along and enjoyed small talk on the way there. What you didn't expect though was to see a familiar face, well, faces. One of them being Wukong, who was enjoying noodles and talking with MK, the other being your friend Sofia and her boyfriend Jeremy.
At first, you didn't acknowledge Sofia and her company sitting at a table, only focused on your belly as you ordered a nice big bowl of noodles that Pigsy was eager to get. Sofia was the one to acknowledge you first, waving you over, but you motioned for her to give you a minute.
Why is this tool here? Macaque thought to himself in annoyance, Wukong snickering silently when he noticed his old friend’s pout.
“Aren't you hungry?” you turned your attention to Macaque with a smile, taking account of his sour mood. “You okay, Mac?”
The nickname made his heart race for some reason, and he had to look away from you. After a few seconds, he offered you a simple nod before he too ordered a bowl of noodles.
“(Y/n)!” Sofia yelled at you over.
“I said wait!” you snapped at your impatient friend before carefully taking the delicious bowl of noodles. “I'll be right back,” you looked at Wukong and MK.
“Take your time,” Wukong grinned as MK too waved you off with a reassuring smile.
“Sorry,” you smiled at Macaque, “you can join us if you want.”
“You go, I'll be here,” he assured, not trusting himself to be close to the male and risk hurting him.
“Suit yourself,” you shrugged and walked over to Sofia’s table with your bowl.
He was being so obvious about it, but you were oblivious to it… or maybe you just didn't care? Who knows. With Macaque falling more into his animalistic side as the time went on, Wukong had entertainment to last him years. Growling and hissing quietly, everyone was expecting the guy to disappear when this was all over, if he was lucky enough to stay alive that long.
The group all watched as you greeted Sofia, then looked at Macaque who glared daggers at the male who tried talking to you, then back to you. You weren't looking forward to talking to him again, so you tried to collect yourself the closer you got to the table, having no choice but to sit next to him and talk to Sofia who sat in front of you.
“What’s wrong, bud?” Wukong’s voice never failed to irk him. “Jealous that your pretty girl’s getting hit on?”
Something about you being called his girl made his heart race again, hearing it from Wukong felt like an acceptance he didn't know he craved. His eyes lingered on you for a while before Wukong leaned in front of him to see his face.
“You really gonna sit here and brood?”
“I'm not brooding, I don't brood,”
“Sure you don't, bud,” he patted Macaque’s shoulder and sat beside him again. “You better not disappoint me, ya know.”
“What are you talking about?” Macaque looked at Wukong with a raised brow.
“I've decided to give you a chance to be with (Y/n),” he stated as if it were obvious. “Don't make me regret it~” he glanced at you and the male who sat beside you. “You aren't gonna let some human guy take her from you… are you?”
“She doesn't want him,” Macaque brushed him off and turned to eat his noodles.
“Oh yeah? And how would you know that, tough guy?” he raised a brow, curious about Macaque’s confident posture.
“You didn't see how annoyed she was with him that day,” he glanced at Wukong.
“People change,” Wukong sang teasingly as he got up in Macaque’s face. “Case in point, you're all in love~”
“Shut up, moron,” he shoved Wukong’s face away from him. “She's facing away from him, focused on her friend and not making eye contact with the guy.”
“Oh~” Wukong smirked teasingly, “you're really studying her while acting all cool and collecting,” he leaned into his ear. “But we both know that seeing her close to that guy is making your blood boil,.” his grin grew when he noticed the shadow under Macaque seemed to grow. “I'm proud though, way to work on your self-control, man.”
“Hey, did you get to see that new movie showing? I heard it’s really good,” the voice got their attention and they both focused on you.
“No, I didn't get the chance to see it yet,” you said boredly before slurping your noodles. This would have to be the first time you acknowledged him since you sat down.
“We should go see it sometime, while it’s still showing,” Lin Shi, desperate determined to get a second date out of you, suggested with a smile.
“No, thanks, I'm good,”
“Why not?” he tilted his head and leaned in close to see your face. “Didn't you like our last date?”
It was infuriating. You thought to yourself, but chose not to respond.
“C'mon, lay off man, she's not interested,” Jeremy said, but was ignored.
“One chance,” he said softly with a smile he thought was charming.
“Don't want to,” you glanced at him. “Like ever,” you added, but it was clear he didn't know when he was beaten.
“C'mon, one night won't hurt anyone,” he chuckled softly, attempting to touch you but he couldn't move.
“You'd be surprised,” Macaque snarled, finally cutting in, using his ability to secure Lin Shi by his shadow. “She said she doesn't want to go with you,” Lin Shi looked at Macaque with a raised brow.
“I wasn't talking to you, monkey boy,” he said and motioned for him to beat it. “Now move before I make you.”
“Are you challenging me?” Macaque chuckled in amusement.
“Macaque, don't,” you warned, trying to avoid a fight.
“Better listen to her, wouldn't want to hurt you too bad,” he glared at the dark themed primate.
“Lin, cool it, man. Don't go picking a fight,” his friend, Sofia’s new boyfriend, tried to calm things down before they escalated.
“Trust me, you don't want to pick a fight with him,” you warned, looking at Wukong with a ‘help me’ look, but he only smiled at you and gave an ‘oh well’ shrug.
This damn bastard is just enjoying the show! You thought to yourself in annoyance. I'm gonna thump him when this is over!
“You think I'm afraid of some monkey demon?” He laughed a bit, his red eyes making an appearance and took you both by surprise. The lack of shock from Jeremy and Sofia made it clear they already knew he was a demon.
Seeing someone’s true colours really is something to behold… you thought to yourself as you watched Shin.
“Oh ho, so you're a demon too, huh?” Macaque tilted his head a bit, clearly amused.
“What of it, emo boy?” Lin Shi glared.
“Oh boy,” you mumbled.
Before Macaque could react, you did something that shocked everyone, Wukong and MK’s jaw dropped as you grabbed him and kissed him like your life depended on it. It was rash, but it calmed him down real quick. You slowly pulled back, looking at him as his face flushed darker.
“Not how I thought our first kiss would happen, but I’ll take it,” he winked and grinned one of his infamous cocky grins when he collected himself. Now it was your turn to blush, you were quick to look away from him and look at the shocked group in front of you.
“You're actually with that freak?” he asked in disgust, you were about to give him a piece of your mind for calling Macaque a freak, but the six eared Macaque rested a hand on your shoulder.
“Yes she is,” he said with confidence that made you blush. The aura that surrounded him darkened, his gaze turned sinister and made the guy stumble back, tripping over himself. “So beat it and leave her alone before I make you regret it.” he glared at Shin before he stiffly smiled. “Are we clear?”
“Yeah, we’re clear” he nodded vigorously, lips quivering.
“Beat it,” he ordered, “before I show you what I can really do.”
You all watched the terrified demon bolt out of the noodle shop, tripping over himself to get away. You've never seen someone run as fast as Shin did.
That was kinda hot… you thought to yourself as you looked up at Macaque from the corner of your eye.
I'm never going to be able to live this down… he thought to himself when he got a glimpse of Wukong’s mischievous, shit eating grin, but then focused on Sofia and her boyfriend.
“You're that puppet guy, aren't you,” Sofia asked knowingly.
She's a sharp one. He thought to himself as he folded his arms.
“Yeah,” Macaque nodded.
“And the date you went on…?” she trailed off as she looked at you.
“Yep…” you said awkwardly. “With him.”
“You had a boyfriend… AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME?!” she snapped, making you flinch even though you thought you were prepared for it.
“We’re not really… dating yet…” you rubbed your fingers together sheepishly.
“Yet, huh?” Macaque smirked at you, making you glanced at him once more, but quickly looked away.
“Well…” you blushed and refused to look at him. “I didn't go out with you for nothing…”
“Well then,” he looked down at you with a grin, “wanna go see that new movie that started showing?”
“Yeah,” you managed a smile when you finally looked at him. “I'd like that…”
“Finally!” Sofia’s loud voice made you jump a bit as she grinned that grin you didn't trust. “I finally have someone to embarrass (Y/n)!”
“Oh gods no…” you mumbled, blushing as Macaque simply grinned and enjoyed it fully.

Gilded Cage AU
Tumblr media
"Isn't it in one's nature to keep the prettiest creature in their grasp?"
Wooo!!! I placed the info of the AU under readmore so there's that! I placed TW beforehand so if you don't like it, steer clear!
TW: FORCED MARRIAGE, MANIPULATION, COERCION, YANDERE/OBSESSION, MURDER, IMPLIED FORCED ISOLATION, IMPLIED MINDBREAK
[ INFO FOR ARTWORK ABOVE ]
There are some days that his little love just makes him so mad, that it gets to his head and into his heart; her screams echoing the halls as he drags her into dusty bedroom and locks up the steel collar around her neck - her pleas falling on deaf ears. It would go on for days before eventually, it'll go silent. Finally, peace and quiet. The most fun part of it all is how clingy his wife turns once he comes back to visit her; all smiles and wide eyed as she butters him up with the sweetest of words. How could he deny her if she begs that she wants all of his time to be spent with her? He's not that cruel
Wukong is still ALIVE in this AU, he never died and D.O just became his legacy bearer... Skip to Wukong introducing D.O to Yuánhóu (because Twisted Arm Gibbon are friends with Wukong). Considering that Wukong's alive, D.O pleads demands to Wukong that he marries Yuánhóu and since he's friends with Twisted Arm Gibbon, he's able to persuade him (think of like, those scenes when two old guys discuss about the marriage of their children because it's like, a way to show that their daughter is in capable hands) But Wukong just nopes out - smugly and mockingly too - telling D.O that there's no chance that Twisted Arm Gibbon will let him marry his only daughter. Yuánhóu DOES like D.O but all feelings are gone the moment D.O kills Twisted Arm Gibbon and forcefully weds with her. Wukong on the other hand, watches with amusement and pride (because in this life, it's either kill or be killed) so he's happy that D.O is taking in his path. Adding on, the previous Yandere! D.O artwork is basically the aftermath of Yuánhóu trying to escape the estate when D.O is out. Wukong was there but he let her escape, because he knows D.O will dish out a perfect punishment to her once he caught up to her In a way the differences between a Yandere Wukong and Yandere D.O to me is that Yan! Wukong plays around with his darling, let them punch him, kick him and run off whenever they want. In the end, he'll be always to find them. It doesn't matter if it takes him days or years, he'll find you regardless. Yan! D.O is stricter, firmer in his stances. He's quick to put punishments like binding your legs and arms together just so you won't run. He wants to break you, make you entirely dependent on him.

Could it have been possible that Nezha (in an alternate timeline) took MK to the celestial realm and trained him so that he becomes like a soldier or guardian in heaven ? Imagine him explaining to the jade emperor that he could be of use to them and the twins would never meet. (Nezha would try anything to convince the emperor of letting both boys live)
DANG IT WITH THESE AU'S! XD XD I LOVE THEM! BUT NOW I HAVE SO MANY!
Tumblr media
I couldn’t even decide a name for this Au at first.
Taken Apprentice
I dunno 😆
But the idea of Nezha being so desperate to keep MK alive he begs on his knees to the Jade Emperor.
MK has to wear a glamor, and can never be seen at public events. Raised and trained by Nezha, who doesn’t let MK wander too far on his own when he is younger less Erlang set his sights on him.
Nezha saying anything to make his point: who else to fight Wukong should the Monkey King ever rebel again? Sun Wukong’s power loyal to the Jade Emperor? Too many pro’s~
I don’t even know how MK and Xiaotian might meet later.
I feel this MK would be a lot more in control of himself. Very disciplined, but still goofy when he can be along with Nezha.

Black Myth: Wukong Journal Entries Part 1
Summarizing some of the journal entries that I found interesting because why not fanfic research?? who knows not me
All the journal entires can also be read on the fandom wiki page
Starting with the Mount Huaguo monkeys because I too, am wondering how they were faring after SWK died.
Circus Monkey (chapter 3 New West)
After Mt. Huaguo was destroyed, the Macaque Chief (flying monkey we fight three times in Chapter 3) led a bunch of monkeys away
arrived at Flaming Mountain (chapter 5) but a plague broke out and Macaque Chief asked for the sick monkes to be tossed into a called
This did not like that, so they decided to stop following the Macaque Chief and they wandered around
lived among humans, pretended to be monkey performers, did not make good money, so they decided to rob the audience while performing.
they killed them, stole their things and moved to the next city
The moved tot he New West, heard Macaque Chief is there too but avoiding them because he feels guilty
circus monkey became circus monks
Tenner (chapter 5 Flaming Mountain)
Centuries ago, Court razed Mt Huago once more
lots of monkey left the home after they heard of SWK death, and because SWK was buddy buddy with the Bull King they decided to go to Mt. Huago
Bull King hated monkeys because of SWK betrayal LOL, but he still gave them shelter and the monkeys were often bullied by other yaoguais
The Flaming Mountain Keeper (dude who had the hots for Princess Iron Fan) treated them with kindness and gave them food and support
Plague struck, monkeys fur fell out and they had sores and boils all over their skin spreading across their back
Macaque Chief casted the infected into the Furnace Valley. Dude said not my circus not my monkeys lol
Keeper came and saved them and cured them. Wings spread from the boils off their back
Keeper taught them how to fly and enlisted them as his minions
first thing they did was purge the Macaque Chief's camp, killed all the other monkeys, only leaving the Chief alive, who then fled to the New West
Macaque Chief (Chapter 3 New West)
Yellobrow helped Macacque Chief retracting his black wings
Macaque was a Chief under SWK
Yellowbrow offers the Macaque Chief to stay and help him rebuild the Thunderclap Temple
"If you had the abilities of that monkey who wreaked such havod in the Celestial Palace, it would have been others who would have suffered." - Yellowbrow
My personal thoughts and musings:
based on the entries from Tenner, I guess it's been more than 100 years since SWK died, I recall reading somewhere it was 270 years but I don't remember where I got that number, so if anyone knows let me know. I like that they added information on what happened to the monkeys at Mt. Huaguo. Chapter 6 felt very Unfinished (fitting title) in terms of also environment - there weren't much enemies around beside the court soldiers and bosses to fight. And when I first walked into the waterfalls cave, my first thought was how empty and abandoned it look like. There are stone tables and chairs and peaches scattered around, but it looks very much like no one has been there for a very long time.
Also the Macaque Chief is NOT the six-eared Macaque, he died in JTTW killed by SWK.
So we know that
SWK left the court and buddhahood behind to just chill with his homies
in retalition the Court started killing his monkey kind
SWK killed himself in order to be completely free
the court very likely continued to massacre and raze through Mt. Huaguo
which then led to Macaque Chief leading some other monkeys away to find a new home
When the Old Monkey is telling the stories of SWK and sending out monkeys to retrieve artifacts, we see a bunch of other monkeys holding staffs too (spot the anime protagonist lmfao)
we do not see or find any other monkeys when we arrive at Mt. Huaguo
My theories and headcanons:
Without Sun Wukong's protection, Yaoguai's run rampagne and the monkeys are not able to fully defend themselves
also when we arrive and on our way to the Stone, we get attacked by court soldiers
My theory is that because they know SWK will be reincarnated, and they want to prevent that, they have soldiers stationed there to attack whenever someone triest to obtain all armor parts and reach the Stone with SWK remains
hence also why the monkeys had to leave, because they would get attacked by court soldiers on sight
I don't think ALL of them left, we do still see monkeys at the beginning of the game
Overall when I played through Ch.6 there was a also a strong feeling of excitement of reaching the end of the journey soon, but also sad because it Mt Huaguo just felt so empty. it's supposed to be SWK's home and he wanted to leave buddhahood behind to be with his kin. To me, that already paints an image of mt Huaguo, being a lively and happy place.
I do wonder what is gonna happen next now that SWK is back. I suppose words will go out that the Monkey King is back, and that some of the monkeys will try to return again? I also wonder what the DO was thinking when traveling and having to fight his own kin. Does he know the history of his mountain? Hopefully the DLC will answer some more questions for us
And that's it about the monkeys! I'm still reading the Journal Entries, and will tackle the Tigers from Chapter 2 next!

Monkey King and Pucca Reader but genderbend?
Either they're already together or they meet for the first time and Monkey Queen thinks he's a normal dude until she sees how crazy powerful he is and is just like "...Hey, you wanna get married?"
MEET THE GOD EATER😈😈😈
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(LMK Wukong) You are the apple of each other's eyes. You met her during the journey of the west, and she was head over heels in love. Years later, you both meet Mk and learn that the girl was her successor, and you congratulated her with a smile and peace sigh. During the training is when Her, Mk and the rest noticed you abilities for example, Mk was working on strength, and she threw a Boulder for Mk to catch, Unfortunately, she totally missed and it was heading for you. Both of them tried to get your attention, but the second was the Boulder, which landed on your head, and it turned into a pile of rubble. The crazy part was that you were so unbothered by it that you didn't even look up from your phone. Which caused both females to pale and faint, then their was the time Macaque stole mk's powers and you were so angry you yanked the staff off of Mk and beat Macaque's ass so bad Wukong and Mk wondered if she was still alive😨. There was also the fight with the spider king went to save our friends and wife, and beat up Huntress and Galiath with you bare hands, and I'm pretty sure you scarred Stacy (fem syntax) for her short life😰 it shocked everyone and scarying the spiders into surrendering. Then their was the fight with lord bone demon Your demon form was in the form of a typhoon as you and Mk defeated her and Everybody so over in shock when all you had to do with to break Wukong out of lord bone demon's control was to kiss her🤣😘. Then, finally, when Mk's monkey form was unlocked in the final fight with Azure, you stood next to her, showing that you too had a monkey form and had every natural disaster surrounding you. You are just full of surprises, and Wukong does not know how to feel about you anymore, Like what other surprises do you have for her and the world?🤯
Tumblr media
(HIB Wukong) You're the father figure of Luier and Silly Boy. When HUN Dun attacked your home, you had sent Luier and Silly boy away to go find the monkey queen Then you went to fight off Hun Dun and hold him off until the kids escape, which is why Luier was urgent to find Wukong to save us and her village. Luckily, you were quick to reuite with them and that when you and Wukong met each other for the first time. You thought she was the cutest thing and blew kisses at her, making her blush and roll her eyes at your antics. She time and time again got bamboozled by our strength and abilities such as breaking hills and mountains, running on water so fast we spilled it in half as we chased a dragon that grabbed silly boy, Then jumped high in the air, landing a punch of the dragon so hard that that flying lizard was headless, and you grabbed Silly boy and landed on the ground, leaving a giant crater. Wukong and pigsy's jaws fell so hard on the floor that you would think it was dislocated. The final straw was when you both saw Luier fall off the mountain and shattering your heart in a billion pieces, you yourself jumped off the mountain driving the final nail in the coffin and Wukong got her powers back. Then began fighting Hun Dun, and soon the two of them were joined by you, in your demon God form and floating in the eye of the hurricane as you held Luier and Silly boy. We left the kids with pigsy and joined Wukong in the ass beating you both delivered to Hun Dun together. In the end, in silence, Wukong asks you if you wanna be together with a blush. You immediately showed her the peach engagement ring you got for her the second you two met.
Tumblr media
(MKR Wukong) Well, it was love at first fight for the both of you. You loved her immediately, and she was left in a daze. She was in a state of shock. How a big buff male demon slaughtered a group of demons that attacked her. You turned to smile at her as you punched a demon away without breaking eye contact. You were quick to join their journey, and you showed some unusual abilities. How you would left tons of heavy boulders and punching mountains breaking through them. Wukong felt herself get excited whenever you displayed a surprising amount of strength. She would purr and blush quietly, and then when fruity came around, you immediately took fruity in and treated her like your child/daughter. Wukong felt her heart and body burn when you displayed fatherly traits, then at the end against the demon king and his army you joined her and your demon form in the middle of a tornado and used her staff to fight the demon king along with Wukong. In the end, when master tang was back, Wukong looked desperately for you and saw that you were under a peach tree holding a sleeping fruity using your god powers to not only amplify her powers but kelp her from dying. Wukong teard up and ran to you, begging you to be her husband. You smiled at her before giggling out
You are my wife already😁🥰
Tumblr media
(NR Wukong) She instantly purred at you when you two met years ago. You both spent time getting to know each other, and soon, you both were making out. She met us during that stupid journey that made her go on, and she found you looking sad in your home village when Wukong noticed you, and she made moves on you. What surprised her was how you purred and chirped into her neck, and soon, the relationship began. Years later, Li finds out that she's Nezha's recarnation and is learning how to handle it, but of course, things were getting crazy which leads you to helping Li and your wife. During the final battle, you ran across the water so fast you made a split in as you were fearful of the safety of your little family, especially when you learned the dragon gang kidnapped her. Everyone in the city saw how you turned into your demon god form with a tsunami happening behind you and joined Li in the final battle against the dragon king. Li even told her that when she accepted his identity, she saw how we whispered to Nezha as you bumped heads with Nezha as we said goodbye to her.
Tumblr media
Wukong had realized that 500+ years of marriage and she didn't know a damn thing about you 😦😦😦
Tumblr media
(Netflix Wukong) She didn't think much of you at all. Then again, she doesn't think too much of anyone she barely pays attention to Lin. You immediately had a crush on her and would follow her around like Lin would. We followed her when she went to fight 100-1000 demons, their was an ambush on her, and you quickly stepped in, and you and Wukong fought against the demons. Then she got into a fight with the dragon queen, and she saw how we punched through mountains during the battle as we go and rescue the village people. You can imagine how surprised she was when she was in her kaiju form when she was fighting both heaven and dragon queen was when you appeared behind her in your Storm god kaiju form and it was bigger and taller then hers. You got pissed at heaven for mistreating her, and together, you crushed the dragon queen like a bug and leveled the celestial realm for their transgression. In the end, you both shrunk down as Wukong finally kissed you and made sure you took the immortal Elixir as you joined her under the mountain. (Ps you ejected the elixir into Lin's bloodstream because A he is basically your son and B Well you wanted your cubs to have a big Brother😉)

Lego Monkie Kid Rewatch: Season 3
Episode 9, The King, the Prince, the Shadow Part 2/2
"Does anyone else feel like-" "We've been here before? Yeah. Its weird, right? But- I ah- know I haven't." "Me neither. And yet this place feels so familiar." "Nah. Not me, man. This is all new to me."
Tumblr media
Remember when I said that a lot of characters keep wrongly comparing MK to Wukong, like MK is supposed to be the next Wukong. Well…. that wasn't just at the characters. That was at us the fans too. Up until this season, I too just thought of MK as the next Monkey King. It just felt right. Pigsy was Zhu Bajie, Tang Tang Sanzang, Mei as Ao Lie, and Sandy as Sha Wujing. Simplistically, I assumed MK was supposed to be this new version's Monkey King. But he's not. He's not like the rest. He's not part of their story- at least he wasn't supposed to be.
MK was never meant to be here... to experience this, or them. And this season is when the show really starts opening our eyes to it.
(Also… I think this proves pretty definitively that Sandy is not the still alive Sha Wujing. With his flashback in To Catch a Leaf, I was so sure. I mean, look at those old looking weaponry?!)
Tumblr media
(But unless Sha Wujing has amnesia that conveniently lets him forget the Samadhi Fire incident, than he really is just the reincarnation instead of the original.)
"It is on brand for you to have a worse version of everyone elses powers."
Tumblr media
Ouch. Also… is this a hint at Macaque having been a clone of Wukong once upon a time? Like, in Shadow Play, Macaque chooses to feature a lot of Wukong and his clones for some reason, especially when speaking of the Warrior and Hero being a team. Strangely, some of those clones look an awful lot like Macaque.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or could this be a hint at season 5 where its revealed Macaque's shadow powers are more like certain other being who shall not be named for sake of spoilers?
Loud Annoying Wukong: "What? You got what you wanted, didn't you? Not going to gloat, monologue a little bit before scurrying off to your master?"
Tumblr media
Inner Panicking Wukong: "Ah drat! He's totally gonna know those are fake. Quick! I gotta distract him into wasting more time!"
"Wukong!"
Tumblr media
I'm pretty sure that's Ne Zha's favourite word. He says it almost every second. Might even be his catch phrase.
"Oh, so the piece of paper just magically made a bunch of light!" "That's exactly what happened and you know it!"
Tumblr media
Ah, I love these two.
"Stop! If you hurt that kid I'll-" "What. Make things worse for MK?"
Tumblr media
Like I said last time, bad hero, good mentor. He cares about MK more than anything else right now. This same kind of protective passion has happened before, back in the Journey to the West. Wukong is good at devoting himself to one person, and tolerating everyone else for the sake of that person.
"Glowy mystic symbol thingies are always never good!"
Tumblr media
Proceeds to touch said glowy mystic symbol thingies.
AWWWW! Tang trying to protect Mei!
Tumblr media
I love the majority of the adults in this show. They do their best to help the kiddos and protect them, even when those kiddo's are typically more powerful than them. Tang, Pigsy, and Sandy understand that young one's always need to be cared for.
THIS SHOT THIS SHOT THIS SHOT!
Tumblr media
I totally missed this shot the first time around! OH MY GOSHNESS SANDY I LOvE YOU!
Once again Macaque forgets about Mei.
Tumblr media
I'm starting to see why she and Macaque were put in a team together in season 4. She is, strangely enough, his blind spot.
And once again I am shaking my head at the way the show treated Macaque's supposed redemption arc. Look at the way he's treating her, the way he's treating them all! The fear and pain he causes them!
Bashes MK repeatedly into the ground until he is unconscious.
Tumblr media
Threatens Mei's life while holding her by the throat.
Tumblr media
Forces the parental figures to watch their kids get ruined.
Tumblr media
Forces Tang to choose the life of his friends over the sake of the world.
Tumblr media
The trauma this guy is causing them- and they just never bring it up? Mei should have held the largest grudge Katara style until Macaque made it up to her! Tang should be absolutely afraid to go near Macaque after the moral trauma the simian caused him. Pigsy should throw a spoon at him every time he darkens his door way with all his ping pong master might. Sandy should constantly keep Macaque between himself and the kids as a protective barrier everytime the shadow comes around.
Until Macaque makes it up to them, apologizes and tries to do right by them all... they should have continued to treat him with fear, anger, and wariness.
"But he was under LBD control' you say. 'He had no choice."
No he wasn't. This threatening, this danger he puts them in? That was for his own gain. Macaque wanted the Samadhi Fire to escape LBD. He was in control of his actions here. He was going to take the power needed to break her control over him and then dip, leaving the mortals to parish under LDB's rule. Sure, he was probably in pain and obviously scared for his life- but that doesn't excuse the choices he made and the trauma he caused.
It's like Macaque said last episode. You have to look out for yourself, no one else.

The scream u letted out when u catch ur reflection in a nearby river think that most of the mountain heard it lol 💀💀💀
Takes u a few slaps to realize ur not dreaming and it is indeed the real shi
A long walk takes you to the Mount Huaguo where you get an overwhelming welcome from all the monkey dudes, specially the kiddos surrounding you and asking u lots of stuff while ur brain's a minute from explosion
After a long moment the others take you to the old monkey to figure what's or what could be happening
That's where he tells you about wukong's story and how he dispersed into the artifacts (what happens at the start of the game)
You knew about him cuz ur sorta of simp fan although you only knew certain parts from the story (cough cough overly sarcastic productions cough cough)
That's where you're being told ur probably the chosen one which would explain why you were sent here in the first place says the old monkey
you slap yourself a few more times JUST in case ur really alive rn (guess the earlier ones didn't kick in then lol)
and also you find out that only by bringing the relics back you can go back to ur og form and get a chance to go back home...
so ur like "fuck it we ball" energy cuz u really got no choice XDDDD
Feel like stuff would go a bit different, still unsure if I want the destined one to exist here or no
OH SHI WAIT mabey he could be like a bodyguard sended with you and the whole twist of him being wukongs mind still happens? Hehe it's coming together HEHEHEEEEEEEEEEE
Also mabey add like ur like wukong's spouse reincarnation which is why u slowly get like lil bits of memories of yall together?
But I don't wanna make it with the wife dies and gets reborn stuff
I wanna go different 😈
AND YALL GOTTA WAIT FOR PART TWO TO KNOW WHAT I MEAN HAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Ooh, the Stone Egg coming out when Xiaotian is courtnapped by Ruyi? Xiaotian is already stressed out from being abducted by a creepy older guy and now having to deal with Demon Bull family drama and Ruyi's incel/conservative uncle behavior-
But-
*slides idea that DBK's parents still alive and FURIOUS when they learn that their great-grandbaby is being born early because their son's an idiot and adding to the drama when the grandchild they never met SLAMS down the door to get to his mate*
Best way to describe my idea of the Immortal Ruyi is somewhere between "Scar" from Lion King + a stereotypical dark wizard.
Tumblr media
Ruyi feels inferior to his older brother, banished or not. He feels that he must scrounge and hoard whatever power he must in order to secure his position - everything except changing a thing about himself.
When the Pilgrims encountered Ruyi; he was busy extorting the Kingdom of Women for access to the Abortion Spring - water that acted as a 100% guaranteed birth control for women (and unlucky monks) who did not want to have children. It wasn't just a matter of money - Ruyi has some pretty backwards ideas of what women should be "thankful for".
Makes sense why the Pilgrims beat the crap out of him and steal back all the money and treasures he's extorted from the women.
The Underworld is pretty inuslar - not much commincation between Realms happens down there. Even in the capital city of Youdu, communities are pretty self-isolating.
Except ever since what happened with the Ten Kings...
Yama/Yanluo needs to hire new staff.
Ruyi thinks he'd be a shoe-in for one of the Ten Kings! If only he had a good piece of arm candy to show off to the court...
Ruyi has a Compliant Hook that acts very simialrly to Wukong's Staff - and he might just use it to "hook" himself a stolen bride.
MK: (*finally managed to sneak out of the apartment to get a limited flavour of cheese tea*) Ruyi: (*whisks him away like an old-timey dastardly villain*) The Stone Egg, waking up: "Oh? It's game time now?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MK of course; is NOT HAPPY with being kidnapped by some old incel demon to a corner of the Underworld!
Even more so when he realises from context clues that this is Red's Uncle!
Ruyi thinks it's foolproof. MK is a creation of Nüwa herself, and helped stabilise all of creation with actions - having him as a spouse would be major Rep points!
MK: "Dude! I'm taken! By your nephew!" Ruyi, preparing a concoction of spring water: "Do not worry. I will remove that roadblock when we come to it. Now you be a good wife and stop scolding me." MK, growing more and more furious: "I AINT YOUR WIFE!"
MK's own kaiju-form tries to activate, but can't due to the immense discomfort he's in. Only he knows the real reason for the cramping. He whispers to his baby to hold on just a little longer, as he staunchly refuses every piece of food or drink his captor tries shoving at him.
The chaos of the courtnapping, plus MK's own loud objections - alert the true masters of the Underworld Ox Palace...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I imagine DBK assumed that his parents had passed in the centuries he'd been gone - only to realise that they weren't dead, just retired from the political scene.
Ránshāo/燃 ("to ignite") and Fādǒu/发抖 ("shivering") were an arranged pair from birth - the union of two royal oxen clans spanning both the Hot and Cold Narakas of the Underworld.
One a dense, long-haired plume of fire. One a stern pillar of ice. Unseparable. If DBK respected anything of his parents; it was their bond.
From their union came the one who would be named "THE Demon Bull King"... and their second-born Ruyi.
They try not to play favourites but... the incident in the Kingdom of Women has soured their opinion over Ruyi's political standings. They have tried hard to throw off the imperial politics their own predecessors had imposed, and return to the "old ways". But clearly their current heir isn't wise to change.
The only thing stopping them from welcoming DBK back into their home is ultimately; Pride. If he didn't seek them out, neither would they.
Cycle of bull-headedness.
Until they smell and hear that their second-born has courtnapped himself an unwilling bride. One already with child.
MK: (*terrified and heavily pregnant*) Ruyi, showing off his prize: "Well..?" (*both ox demons look at one another... before slapping Ruyi across the head.*) Ránshāo: "YOU FOOL. Courtnapping is only legitimate if the other party accepts your affection!" Fādǒu, leaning down to MK: "The poor thing is shaking! Did you steal them from their maternity nest!? Their birth clan will have our heads if talk gets out!" Riyu, scrambling: "Well uh- I feel that they would be the perfect spouse for the heir of the Underworld Ox clan! Sun Wukong's successor is-" Both Oxen, so loud it shakes the palace: "THE WHAT?!" Ránshāo: "Are you telling me, this child is the successor of the ONE DEMON able to match our family in battle!? And you dared to kidnap him for your own selfish desires!?!" Fādǒu, hugging MK to her cool fur: "And what of their mate? Surely the existence of the calf in their stomach signals an existing sire!" Ruyi, kowtowing: "The child they carry was immaculately formed! Like the waters of the Mother-Child River! If it is an issue, I will remove it using the Spring-" (*Ruyi receives angry huffs from both parents, their breaths combining to create a boiling mist that forces him back*) Ránshāo: "Get out of my sight. We'll deal with you later." Ruyi: (*scuttles away by a cockroach*) Fādǒu, voice soft: "Child, does your clan know where you are?" MK, calming down: "No... but I imagine that they won't rest until they find me. Macaque can hear for miles, and Mei put trackers on my phone." Ránshāo: "We should prepare for guests then. We must apologize to them for the distress our second-born has caused." Fādǒu: "Is what Ruyi said true? That your child has no sire?" MK, little embarassed: "Uh! Well! It's a stone monkey thing I accidentally did. Baby is technically being made by me alone, but with Dao my body absorbs from my closest peeps and mate." Fādǒu: "Then who is your-?" (*The gates of the Underworld Ox Palace burst open as a stampede of kaijus arrive on-scene; dragon, demon, and celestial among them. The lead of the charge is a fiery cloud in the shape of a bull - the eyes burning with True Fire. The bull crashes through the front gates and throne room, trampling any obstable in it's path. It's charge only stopping when they see the monkey demon.*) Kaiju!Red Son, bellowing deep: "RETURN HIM." MK, surprised but delighted: "Red!!" :D! Both Oxen: (*share same looks of confusion and wonder*)
The sight in the palace is adorable; the tiny monkey demon waddling as fast as he can to embrace their mate, their furry arms not even able to encompass the snout. The massive bull gently nudging their smaller mate's face and belly, as if to ask "Are you okay?" The fire receding back to it's natural shape and size as more desperate kisses are shared.
No arrows or swords drawn - the appearance of Sun Wukong in his War Form put the fear of Buddha in every single one of the Oxen Palace guards.
And the appearance of the prodigal son put joy in their hearts.
DBK: (*arrives seconds later in his regular form, PIF on his shoulder. He looks confused as he realises where Red Son's trail has lead them.*) DBK, seeing the royal couple: "Mother? Father?" The Oxen couple: "Jǐn Cài Niu!?"
Ránshāo and Fādǒu don't even question why their first-born is there. The fiery tornado that ripped through their palace was nearly identical to the kaiju-form of their elder son - only now sporting the True Winds of the boy's celestial mother.
PIF herself is caught in the embrace. She's shocked by the closeness. She had not seen her in-laws in millennia - but now they greet her as if she were beloved kin? She barely manages to squeeze out of the giants' hold to watch her husband reunite with his parents.
Fādǒu: "A grandson! Xiaoniu - a grandson! And you never told us!" DBK, crying with frustration and joy: "I assumed that you did not care for him! I sent many letters to Father's office over the centuries!" Ránshāo, angry growl: "My office... the same office your younger brother as occupied for the last eon?" DBK, realising: "That bast-" Fādǒu, pulls his ear: "Do not finish that exclamation, calf." Ránshāo: "Do not blame him, my snowdrop. If Ruyi is only responsible for what happened today, he should be so lucky to live to see the next one." PIF, floating above the oxen: "I take it you've met our son's intended?" Fādǒu, gasping: "The expectant one!? Oh dear... barely a moment to adjust to knowing we're grandparents..." Ránshāo: "Now we are to expect our first great-grandchild!" Wukong, leans in to whisper: "So. We aren't in a fighting mood now, right?" DBK: "No. Now is not time for quarrel... unless you wish to catch up with my little brother. Odds are; he's already fled the palace." Mei, racing past in dragon-mode: "I CALL FIRST DIBS!"
Reunions and curb-stomps are cut short however - as MK is forced to reveal something that has been causing him grief ever since Ruyi kidnapped him.
Macaque, ears flickering: "He's in labour." Everyone present: "WHAT!?" MK, smiling through winces of pain: "Surprise?" Red Son: (*turns Kaiju-form off and in a feral rush, carries MK to a soft surface*)
Everyone is panicking, even the ones trained in midwifery. Wukong is stammering as he tries to manifest supplies from his transformed hair. Pigsy and Tang are screaming - realising that they need to grab the Bodhisattva Kṣitigarbha just in case babies aren't supposed to be born down here.
PIF is holding MK's hand, coaching him through the contractions and kissing his sweat-soaked brow. She knows the pain he's enduring.
Red is holding MK's other hand, not minding that the bones are most certainly broken by the stone monkey's grip. He's silent with excitement and fear.
Nezha briefly disappears, returning with Guanyin and Xiwangmu themselves at his side.
Guanyin: "When Nezha told me you were due - I certainly did not expect to come here! It's been some time." MK, Wukong & Macaque: "Same!"
It seems that the second MK is assured everything is prepared; the Egg pretty much shoots out - cracked and ready to go. The other monkeys barely have time to collect the broken rainbow-quartz shell when the baby starts howling to the universe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Room: (*stunned silent*) Newborn Haoye: (*immediately chirping and clinging to MK*) Macaque: "Wow. That kid did not wait at all to be born." Wukong: "Stress from the courtnapping probably scared him out." (*angry growls radiate around the room. Ruyi will be lucky to be found alive after tonight.*) Red Son & MK: (*both unintelligible blubbering*) "He is so small!!" "And orange!"
Xiwangmu nearly roars at seeing her great-grandcub alive and so loud. Her fellow great-grandparents do not hesistate to embrace the Empress when she hugs them out of joy. ("He's beautiful!" "He is!" "His taigong would have adored him!" "Did he get his fur from you Empress?")
The Underworld and the Celestial Realm are united fully in this moment... all for a tiny orange puffball who's barely a minute old.
Tang faints obviously. Pigsy holds it together long enough to say hi to his grandpiglet before passing out on the nearest sofa. Wukong and Macaque get a few sniffs in before joining Pigsy on the sofa.
All is calm.
Then Haoye sneezes and rainbow-coloured flames shoot out.
The Room: ( 0_0)? MK, laughing nervously: "Oh yeah. The Five Stones! Ha ha ha-!" Nezha, defusing: "To be fair... I spit rainbows." Mei, taking photos: "Aww, our little rainbow monkey man!!" <3
Now the baby has another set of great-grandparents to visit!
If one of the Man Yue gifts is a familar ox skull - MK doesn't comment on it.

Heart behind the lie # 1 : Wounded beast
Let's go, I'm going to repost all chapters of this fic on Tumblr. It's gonna be a ride.
For those who don't know the fic, it's about Wukong becoming feral after LBD possession and Macaque having to take care of him even if he's at first unwilling.
TW : blood and injuries
There was a time, long ago, when he was feared. A time when he was the enemy hiding in the shadows, the killer capable of roaming every nook and cranny of this earth. Capable of hearing the deepest secrets of gods and demons alike, and brought them to his King's feet, whispering long forgotten truth in his golden ears.
A time when the sun still loved him enough to share its warmth with him, to give purpose to every pump of blood flowing through his veins. He had been naive then, too young to see beyond what was given, beyond the kind smiles thrown his way. Satisfied to be nothing more than the shadow of a fool, the silhouette of a King not deserving of his throne.
He wondered if the men that feared him would still be struck by terror if they saw him again. Chained and battered, a mere puppet at the service of a witch fooling herself with dreams forever unachievable. Would they fear him, or would they pity him, seeing him as what he truly was, and perhaps what he always had been : a broken fool.
When he crawled out of his grave, digging through layers of piled dirt with broken claws, he promised to never let himself fall for kindness again. He picked his shattered heart, giving it as much tenderness as he could, and stuffed it in his chest. He appeased his crying, bleeding heart with whispers of vengeance, and an oath to never trust again. It didn't soothe the pain tearing him apart, it didn't soothe the memory of him. It only gave his heart a reason to beat, and not die pitifully seconds after his rebirth, if you could call this wretched life a rebirth.
He broke this promise when the kid asked him to be a warrior. All his will, his oath of vengeance, shattered before a trusting gaze.
He fell for kindness, again. Maybe he was doomed to never learn, to never understand that trust was a lie, trust gave to him, at least. He was the shadows, the one you should never trust, the one you always betrayed.
He betrayed his own heart, and took the hands of a child as naive as he once had been. Repeating, again and again, like a dog chained to a never ending circle, the same mistakes. Do not follow after the hero, this should be simple enough. Their golden steps were not made for you, you were not made for the light. But every oath, every promise, meant nothing in the face of his own weak heart. Hope was unkillable, he learnt, at least within himself. He couldn't help but fall for their tricks, for their soft eyes and their blinding kindness, for the hope of it being true.
And there he was, fighting the great sage equal to heaven, the one he once followed willingly, and losing against him.
It was bitter, to realize your own weakness, what you had become after eons of being a ghost. The Diyu shattered him, and the Bone Demon didn't take the time to collect all the pieces of his broken soul. His strength was a mere illusion, a trick he conjured up to fool the strong, a shadow of what he had once possessed.
He was an illusionist, a great pretender.
The only thing keeping him alive was his instinct, the sensations he forged in the midst of battle. Macaque had one been a warrior, his body, even ruined, remembered those times. He evaded the fists of the possessed King, wincing everytime death grazed him. He didn't need to win, he wasn't sure he could anyway, he only had to gain time. Enough for the kid to retrieve his weapon, and bring the King to his senses.
Because he was the only one capable of doing it, wasn't he? Sun Wukong made him bleed without any speck of remorse, his grunts and cries were nothing to him, but a mere word of the kid, a human he knew only for a few months, was enough to break the witch's hold over his mind.
He buried the thought before he could indulge it, envy wasn't something he should feel, especially for his killer's love. This was nothing but the echo of a long gone past. He was only surprised by Sun Wukong's quick fondness, nothing more. It had to be nothing more if he wanted to preserve his sanity, especially in the midst of a fight.
Macaque rolled around, evading each of the sage attacks. He ran, claws ratting on the floor, ears erect, capturing each sound echoing nearby. His heart was beating against his skin, a traitorous thing that overflowed with fear.
The King grabbed his tail and threw him around. Macaque crashed on sharp rocks, breath knocked out of his lungs. One tip pierced his skin, burying itself in blood and flesh, tearing his bones apart. Macaque slapped his hands on his mouth, smothering his cries, killing them before they could pass his bruised lips. He needed to get up. No matter the pain. He didn't have the time to let the suffering fester and poison his mind.
The ebony monkey tried to slip in the shadows, in safety, but he didn't have enough magic for that anymore. The shadows melted under his claws, disappearing, forever out of reach. If he had more time, he would worry about this, after all his whole existence depended on his magic, life wasn't flowing in his veins anymore, magic was. But Macaque couldn't worry about this, not when the sage was running towards him on all four with fiery eyes and claws coated in his blood.
The ebony monkey wheezed, blood dripping on his lips, and scrambled to rise. Death was approaching, he could feel it, he lived through it one time. And like the first time Diyu claimed him, the one putting him underground was a being coated in gold with eyes once familiar, and cared for.
But Macaque didn't want to die, not again. Perhaps, his body remembered the torture it endured in the Diyu and was scared to live through it again, it acted on its own, gathering every last speck of strength he possessed and punching the King. His knuckles crashed upon golden skin, claws piercing pale blue eyes, and his last drop of magic pushed the sage away.
Sun Wukong crashed a few meters away, before a sharp cliff. Macaque felt nauseous, without magic his body crumbled on itself, each beat of his heart painful enough to make him cry. He heard the sage groan, an animalistic cry piercing through the air. That wasn't normal, the sage never spoke while possessed by the witch, voice frozen by her hold.
The macaque watched, still, the sage slowly rising to his feet. He moved strangely, arms and legs trembling, unable of holding his weight. He fell, and fell, struggling to stand up, like a puppet with cut strings, trying to walk on his own for the first time. Sun Wukong walked on all four, moving carefully, sniffing his surroundings, limbs still trembling.
Macaque tried to rise once again, but his legs failed him, and he stumbled on the ground. The sage turned towards him, ears erect, and face still marred by his claws, long glittering red slashes piercing his eyes. Sun Wukong hissed, fur rising, fangs out. He looked like a beast, perhaps he was in this moment.
"You're trying a new thing ?" Mocked the macaque, trying to speak with the witch, to make sense of this situation. But silence remained.
The sage only hissed louder, backing away slowly, like Macaque was the one to be feared, like the sage was the one who needed to escape.
" Is this a mind game ? You think I'll fall for that !" Sneared the ebony monkey, but like before, nothing answered him. If he could, Macaque would use his ears and try to listen for the whereabouts of the witch, but he didn't have enough strength to do so, and the only thing he heard was the howling winds, his own heart and the sage hisses.
Sun Wukong kept backing away, slowly approaching the edge of the cliff.
"You're gonna fall." Hissed the ebony monkey, but it was like the sage couldn't hear him, couldn't even understand him.
The sage looked around, groaning, like something was trying to attack him, a ghost only he could saw. Macaque could see his eyes, flickering between blue, gold and red, a battle was taking place in those irises, perhaps as violent as this one. The King cried, his own claws piercing his heads, blood flowed in his russet fur. He backed away, and fell out of the cliff, a frail, scared chirp stumbling out of his lips.
Macaque ran. He ignored the ache in his body, and ran towards the cliff, pushed by an instinct he thought he buried long ago. He ran, and jumped after the King, falling with him in the howling winds. There were a number of things he could blame for this foolish act. The pain that rendered him mad. The kid and his eyes full of trust he didn't want to shatter. The weird state of the King, and the need to defeat the witch. But in the end, he knew this act was nothing but the last echo of his feelings for the sage, the instinct of a shadow wanting to protect the one giving him respite.
The sage was curled up like a newborn, falling without even trying to call upon his cloud, or any other powers that could save him from pain. The macaque caught him rather easily, and held him closer, pushing him in his bloody chest. Sun Wukong battled him, perhaps not wanting to be saved by his nemesis, a fitting prettiness for a being as prideful as the great sage.
"Stop moving !" Growled the ebony monkey, and the sage instantly calmed down, looking at him with round eyes, like he didn't expect to be caught by him of all people.
Macaque lost himself in ruby eyes, savage and untamed, rivers of blood as gorgeous as the dawning sky. The sage chirped, a questioning, faint sound, lost in the winds. He chirped back, pushed by his most shameful instincts, a sound that was meant to be reassuring, but sounded like a dying dove. Sun Wukong seemed to appreciate his chirp nonetheless, he curled around his chest, golden tail tying itself on his bony hips.
Macaque took most of the fall, he crashed upon the earth, his nemesis cradled in his arms like a mother would hide his infant from pain. He groaned, bones shattering on impact, flesh torn, fur dripping with warm red. He sullied the golden bundle cuddled on his chest, blood spoiling perfect locks, locks cherished by the sun itself. Why did he go after the sage ? Sun Wukong had enough immortality to feed armies of man, while he was a walking corpse latching on life like a flea would latch on a dog.
Why was he still following after his killer ?
Macaque knew the pain was making him delirious, at least that was the only explanation he could muster, because Sun Wukong would never look at him with such worry, not anymore. He was bleeding out, and mayhaps this was an illusion his dying mind conjured up, something to appease his pain.
He is going to die in the arms of this man, again. But maybe dying was kinder than living in shame, weak and incapable of killing the one that took everything from him.
Macaque closed his eyes, tiredness gnawing at his shattered bones. His ears flickered, bothered by frantic chirps, and worried coos.
"Shut up." Muttered the ebony monkey, but whoever made those sounds didn't listen, and only cried louder.
Warmth fell upon him, a fur he didn't feel since centuries, a scent he didn't smell since before his downfall. He let those pitiful illusions embrace him, and lost himself, letting his mind fall in the darkest of slumber.
Memories came to him.
Flashes of another life, of another him, someone so white, so full of foolish hope, naive to the bone.
"Isn't it perfect !" Laughed the King sitting on his side. A being made of gold, with eyes full of stars, and smile full of white fangs.
"What ? The cliff ? You saw it hundred of times." He said, his voice smooth, flowing serenely like the course of a river, holding nor malice, nor hatred.
"Come on, Liu'er, you're always so grumpy." Groaned the golden monkey, he rolled his eyes and gestured to the cliff, like what he was trying to say was obvious, etched on nature itself.
"I don't see it." Snorted the macaque, before him was only a cliff, a sky, a sea, he didn't understand what was beautiful in such normal views. What could catch the eye of his King.
"You're serious? Liu'er, it beautiful !" Whined the King, he latched to him, golden fur merging with white locks.
Macaque shuddered, embraced by warmth, a novelty for a shadow as cold as him. He turned towards the King and felt his heart leap out of his chest. Sun Wukong was beautiful, lightened by the clear light of eternal summer, eyes struck by the sea blue, fur wet with sunlight.
"Beautiful." Whispered the macaque, bewitched by the golden being at his side.
"So now you understand what I'm saying ?" Chuckled the golden monkey, his own eyes lost in the sea before them.
He never answered, throat strangled with unsaid words, a fondness he would hide forever.
But Shihou didn't exist anymore, devoured by another, by the great sage.
Macaque woke up frantically, nerves alight, and skin burned by sweat and blood. Everything was a blur, a blend of shapes and colors, of echos and cracks. He stayed a long time in this state, torn between blurriness and clearness. He was in something soft, perhaps clean sheets, and this alone made him question his sanity. Was this a dream ? Because he knew for a fact he didn't touch a sheet since before his death.
At last, blurriness began to fade away, allowing him to see in what kind of place he landed. Did they threw his corpse on a street, atop the waist of a bedding shop ? Macaque was quite surprised to see a room, a white, lavish room, ornated with dragons. He was on a bed, bandaged from top to bottom, body aching everywhere. He couldn't move, each of his nerves was frozen by pain, so he simply stayed still, eyes glued to the white ceiling.
After a bit, someone entered the room, a maid or something ressembling a servant, with clothes sewn with dragons, seemingly a recurring theme in this place. The maid looked at him with round eyes, before darting outside like a frightened deer. Huh, he didn't thought he looked that ugly, this hurts his self-esteem a little. However, he couldn't stay awake until the master, or mistress, of this place deigned to show themself, he succombed to slumber, again.
The second time he woke up, he was struck by the worst headache on earth, surely even drunken teenager didn't woke up with this sort of pain. He groaned, feeling like his whole skull ached, and rolled in the sheet. His slight movement was meet with more pain, so he decided to simply curl on himself, and let whoever put him here do whatever they saw fit. He wasn’t in any state to fight, anyway.
"Don't move, you have several broken bones." The voice was soft, a light whisper, full of warmth. He knew this voice, he turned, painfully, towards the one sitting on his bedside and met the strained smile of the kid.
"Hey kiddo, you're not dead." He sounded like a sick seagull, but at least he could speak.
"No, we won."
He thought victory would taste better, better than pain, aches and tiredness at least.
"Hm, where am I ?" Asked the macaque.
"In Mei's place, we tried the hospital but they didn't keep you for long, they don't deal with mistyc stuff, apparently." Huffed the boy, like he was upset on his behalf, which was a novelty.
"I'm too tough for them." Chuckled the macaque, he quickly regreted it, his stomach didn't like to be shaken, it seemed. The boy stood up, hands hovering above him, but never touching, like he was afraid of shattering him.
"Take it easy. You've been asleep for a long time."
"How long ?"
"One week."
"Huh, I've been asleep longer."But the boy didn't get his death joke, maybe he shouldn't joke about it, whatever, this wasn't important. Macaque noticed bandages on the boy's arms. "The Bone Demon got you ?" MK furrowed his eyebrows, lost, before understanding what he meant.
"Oh no, no, she's gone, for good."
"Great." He would never admit the relief washing over him at those words, the sheer joy of no longer being chained by another.
"I, huh, I got those from someone else."
"Never thought Wukong would let anyone do that." Sneared the ebony monkey, but surprisingly enough the boy didn't jump on his mentor defense. He only stood here, eyes downcast, sadness etched on his face. "Where's your mentor, anyway ? I doubt he would like you being with me."
"He's… elsewhere." Answered the kid, this was suspicious, but Macaque didn't want to dwell on Wukong whereabouts, the sage coud take care of himself.
"Okay." And the discussion ended here, the kid rose after a bit, and left him with a faint “take care, I'll come back”.
Macaque only nodded, wondering when they would throw him out now that he was awake. His state was strange, he shouldn't be able to function properly after loosing so much magic, but now that he focused on this, he could feel something in him, something foreign.
There was magic flowing in his veins, but it wasn't his. Something more celestial, warm, almost scorching. Whathever it was, it feeded his soul and his skin, forcing life to flow again. It was only a question of time before he devoured every ounce of this foreign magic though. He knew well that he didn't have enough strength to repleat himself naturally, and that this foreign source was too faint to keep him in the mortal plane forever.
Right now, he was like a bottomless pit, every inch of magic would be devoured to keep him stable, and now that the witch that regularly fed him was long gone, he was destined to fade away.
To die, a second time.
It was only a matter of when. Would he die the day after tomorrow, still incapable of leaving those pitiful sheets, or would he die inside the wreck he called a dojo, after weeks of suffering.
Whatever he chose to do, his future ended in pain.
When the boy came back, Macaque didn't feel like trying. He did nevertheless, because he was weak at heart, and he didn't want to disappoint the first person to ever show him a speck of kindness after eons of solitude. His own weakness disgusted him, but he was too weary for wearing the spiteful mask he created. He tried to walk, tried to stretch, and after days of slow recovering, and patient exercising, he was able to stumble through corridors without any help.
"Do you hate Monkey King ?" Asked the boy, one day, while they did umpteith exercises.
"Yes, I do." Because what else was he supposed to answer, the thing he felt for Wukong was so bitter, it could only be hatred.
"… But would you do me a favor ?" This was tricky, he didn't owe anything, in the proper way, but he was recovering inside the dragon girl house. And she was at the boy beck and call.
"What favor ?"
"Would you take care of him ?"
"Wukong is capable of taking care of himself, besides I don't think he wants my help."
"It's complicated." Sighed the boy, arms littered with more bandages. "Maybe it's better to show you."
Macaque followed after the boy, only because he wanted to see Wukong at he's lowest and nothing more. They walked in long, lavish corridors, and finally reached something oddly ressembling dungeons, but more comfortable than the old staves he was accustomed to. The kid hesitated before a door, a heavy, chained door, marred with claws mark. He finally opened it, and they entered a large room, completely wrecked.
The bed was teared open, blankets thrown on the floor like battered corpses, what must have been a dresser was broken beyond repair, shards of mirrors littered the floor, and the walls were clawed with hatred.
"Monkey King ?" Whispered the kid, he walked cautiously inside the hornet's nest, and knealed before the bed. "Are you there ?" The boy tried to reach beneath the bed, but the moment his hand extended, sharp claws teared his skin open.
MK yelped and stumbled back, he didn't look surprised, only pained and disappointed. Holding his bleeding arms with eyes full of uncried tears.
"What is this ?" Asked the macaque with a tight voice.
"It's Monkey King."
"You're kidding ? This is not-"
"We found him like this, according to Red Son the possession wrecked his mind."
"So what, he's crazy now ?" Snorted the ebony monkey.
"He's scared. He didn't want to part from you when we found the both of you. But you needed help so we… "
"You don't need to finish this." Sighed the ebony monkey, not liking the waver in the boy's voice. "What do you want from me ?"
"Could you at least try to help him, please." Pleaded the kid.
"… I promise nothing, kiddo."
"It's alright, as long as you try."
Macaque knealed before the bed, and took a look beneath it. Two fiery eyes watched him from the darkness, Sun Wukong was curled up against the wall, tail lashing and ears pined back. Macaque gulped, and tried to extend his arm, the sage hissed, fangs glinting in the dim light. But then, the beast sniffed, snout furrowing furiously. And cautiously, like a wounded tiger, Sun Wukong crawled towards him. He growled when the ebony monkey dared to move, and as such Macaque stood perfectly still.
Sun Wukong sniffed his hand, snout brushing against his open palm. His eyes extended, turning almost dark, and he cooed curiously. Macaque answered with a weak chirp, something rough and quick. Sun Wukong chirped back, a bell-like sound echoing in the silence. Then, the great sage crawled out of the bed and circled him, sniffing him, and eyeing him suspiciously. Once satisfied, the beast sat on his lap, and curled on himself.
Macaque gulped, looking at the beast curled in his lap with fear, hatred and pity.
This smelled like trouble.
