Tessa fucks me up dude can I just talk about her for a sec? Yeah? Yeah.

She loved those drones. She loved them because they were what she had. She felt sympathy for them when nobody else did. And I like to think there was a little bit of loneliness motivating her as well.

Her mother hated her. She was nothing to her. When her mother scolded her by saying "seems you still can't follow simple orders" her respone was "No, no no! Please!" BEGGING. Begging her mother to believe in her and be kind to her. She got chained up in her room (multiple times btw. At leas tthats implied. the hand she winced at and rubbed is the same hand the chain was on, which means shed be chained up long enough for it to rub her skin painfully. long enough to leave lasting pain.)

She is very connected to these drones, to the point where she kept all the error drones aroud because she LOVED them. She spent time digging them up. HELL SHE TOOK A FAMILY PHOTO WITH THEM DUDE...

Even when Cyn was creepy and scary, she kept her around. She'd rather lock Cyn up than get rid of her. and when n points it out, shes apologetic and hesitant. But we know WHY she did that. Even if it was kind of a sucky move, it was because she didnt wanna have to throw cyn out. and in the end that killed her.

Also she knows J well enough to know what sets her off (enough to. bite the shit out of a chain). She knows them. and she loves them.

I wish we'd gotten to know more about her an N. why is he so clearly her favorite? but thats not relevant ig

also her saying "I've only ever yakked to robots, J!" She has NO human friends. she has nobody to support her other than these robots. these robots who get treated like garbage by her family.

and then she has to watch these robots turn on her. Not just THESE ROBOTS but the three that she loved most. (also im going off what wouldve happened in ep 5 WITHOUT uzi, where n doesnt get out of the swamp, and nobody goes down to the basement)

V first, then Cyn, then J. And we KNOW she loved these three+N especially bc she took a family photo w them, interacted with them more often, and generally just seemed much closer with them.

and what does she get for it? killed. And also its implied by this screenshot that she wasnt ACTUALLY killed by cyn right then

and she cant have been skyn bc the scientists wouldve known. the skinsuit wasnt exactly. hm. pretty.

which means she DID see her whole family+more slaughtered in front of her while she was powerless to stop it. She DID see J violently kill everyone around her. She DID see Cyn kill everyone. And she just has to. Deal with that. And despite all her efforts, the solver took over and cyn killed her. (im assuming tessa died somewhere around when n's mineshaft flashback was like i mentioned b4)

and all the while she was convinced shed lose N, id assume. based on the state of the other drone out there.

And honestly, i think what she got was worse.

The way he looked at her, and the way he was suspicious of her. He knew HIS Tessa would never treat a drone like this. Cyn has been known to have relatively shitty recreations of people at times (like Thad in episode two) But even so there was no way he could believe it was someone else (like. who would it be? he saw her blood he heard her voice like...) which is why he was so stressed after killing her (when he leaned on his sword and was breathing heavy, yk?)

he loved her and she loved him and now shes dead. just like everyone else he loved.

Some Jhad thoughts I’ve been stewing on:

There relationship getting started is definitely “Thad fell first, and J fell harder”.

Despite being the most “professional” and standoffish of the MDs, J is very physically affectionate with Thad (granted, I headcanon all three of them as being bc severely touch starved) but pretty much no one else is allowed to touch her.

Similar to the above, J is surprisingly flirty when she and Thad are alone (you’ve seen the Incorrect Quotes, you know what I mean).

Similar to how Thad and Lizzy vouching for V and N helped the other students warm up to them, Thad being with J was enough to convince most of the colony she’s cool now (coupled with the fact she’s had so many fake out deaths trying to attack the colony that she’s sort of lost her most of her intimidation factor, Team Rocket style).

I really like the idea of Thad trying to get J into some sport or another and just being absolutely enthralled when she dominates because of her enhanced abilities.

Little fic under the cut (~400 words)

“Baby, I’m sorry. Next time-”

“Next time what, Andrew? I’m so tired of waiting for you, waiting and waiting. Half the time you never even show up. I can’t wait for you another time. I’m not even sure it’s worth giving you another chance.”

The words spill into the air faster than you can think of what you’re saying. Tone filled with an aching pain and loneliness. It strikes Andrew full in the face. A panicked sense of defensiveness fills him in response. A sickening fire that burns in his gut.

“I’m trying! But I’m busy, okay? I can’t always be there every time I’m wanted.”

His voice struggles to stay at a reasonable level. Becoming louder than he would’ve liked. He pushes his hair out of his face. Roughly pulling at the strands between his fingers.

“You’re always busy! And this wasn’t just wanted Andrew, I needed you.”

“You knew what you were getting into when we started dating, before that even!’

He retorts, turning away from you. Partly because he can’t bear to see the tears gathering in your eyes. He stares at the wall. Studying each crack in the paint to compose himself. He didn’t want this discussion to turn into an argument. Fuck, he didn’t want this to be an issue with you at all. Deep down he knows you’re right. It’s his fault. There’s too many promises he’s made and hasn’t kept. 

“Maybe we just— shouldn’t see each other for a while.”

Your voice cracks making the torturous suggestion that devastates him. Nothing good ever comes of such an idea. Terror tears at his heartstrings. Pulls at his throat. He knows he needs to make this right, right now. Else he’ll never see you again. You’ll break up with him over the phone. Because doing it in person hurts too much. He wouldn’t be able to say goodbye properly.

Finally swallowing that God awful thing called pride. Andrew turns back around. His devastation deepened at the tears that hang on the edge of your waterline. Glistening in the dim light of the room. 

“Please, no, baby. We– We can’t do that. I–”

Words struggle over his tongue, his throat hoarser than he realized. 

“I’m sorry, you’re right. You always are. But please, please don’t leave. I need you, more than anything. I’ll do whatever it takes to make it up to you.”

He doesn’t care if he’s begging, pleading for it. He’ll force all the pride he’s been clinging onto and fall at your feet. But after this, could you ever take him back?

Murder Drones is lowkey kinda sexist

btw I love the show but after this was pointed out to me it’s kinda hard to ignore.

All the female characters fall under two archetypes: snarky and mean or manipulative and evil. Uzi is a stereotypical wangsty teen girl who snarks about everything even when she’s about to die. J manipulates and abuses N to the point where she looked for any excuse to kill him. Doll manipulated everyone into thinking she was completely harmless up until her true colors are revealed, then after that she just becomes mean. Adult Tessa was portrayed as very manipulative up until the reveal that it was cyn which brings me to Cyn actively erasing and messing with the memories of the drones, trying to take over Uzi, using Tessa’s corpse as a puppet to trick everyone, and trying to manipulate N. V is the used-to-be-a-sweet-girl who’s become another snarky and mean character with a very rushed arc and little to no nuance. tessa was the closest we had to a complex female character. she was one of few people who saw drones as beings capable of feeling, she showed kindness to them no matter what (even if it unknowingly lead to the start of the Solver and end of earth). she rebelled against her abusive parents, but was willing to fight for them when the time came and it cost her her life. but now she won’t be known for that, she’ll be known as the girl who was killed by Cyn and had her body used as a skinsuit for her horrific goals

Despite there being a lot more women than men in the cast of Murder Drones, the three male characters of note have a lot more nuance and complexity than the wide cast of female characters. while female characters like V are constantly held accountable for their actions, characters like N are treated as the “UwU soft boy can do no wrong”. This is even lampshaded within the show, in the scene in which he “apologizes” to the security guard for massacring a group of drones and is allowed inside the colony. Uzi’s father received little to no consequence for leaving Uzi to die at the hands of N, yet Uzi is constantly paying for the consequences of her actions since the first episode. thad is thad. No more to say there.

a lot of the female characters are also treated as fan service, once again I bring up V. Her design, with its lack of pants and thigh highs, is the most obvious example. J’s design is similar with a very short skirt, garters, and knee highs. This isn’t me slut shaming the robots, me simply pointing out a pattern with the female characters and their designs.

this doesn’t mean k don’t like the show, but this is kind of hard to ignore ever since my friend pointed it out to me.

Uzi’s classmates (‘cept for Thad, he cool) all suck ass

They most likely bully Uzi for being eccentric, purposefully forget who she is, went to the literal genocide robots over her, and tried to isolate her from her first real friend (and V joined in that but that’s beside the point atm)

Lizzy, who’s at least shown remorse for her actions (if that’s what happened in ep3 with V), isn’t much better either, though she might get better idk. Like

“Eww, it didn’t kill her” and “No one will notice she’s missing” (fucked up that she’s right about that btw). Girl what’s your beef. Uzi’s just a weird girl who lashes out because, woag, she’s getting bullied, and her one remaining parent didn’t parent.

And Doll. Hell’s her beef? Is it just cause she’s friends with Lizzy? You’d think the two solver moms would try to get their kiddos to be friends but I guess not? (Granted, Doll also get mad at her for siding with the DDs but can you really blame Uzi when everyone else hates her for literally just being weird)

The fight with V & J, Making J go full-on Villian with Solver Cyn/Tessa, OH YEAH V ACTUALLY COMING BACK TO SAVE LIZZY & ALL OF THEM, Khan's funny old man chuckle into his "Hah!" after he saves N's Heart from Flesha, Thad's Football throw of Uzi's Railgun, Nori's Heart cheering on her Daughter as she goes to fight Cyn, THE SICK AF FINAL FIGHT SCENE OF PICKAXE + RAILGUN COMBO UZI, N, AND V VS. CYN & J LIKE HOLY SHT MAN, Thad's Sudden Skateboard that he's just had on him this entire time? (that's like INCREIBULY based btw), Khan & Nori having their awkward reunion, and THE SOLVER NOW BEING APART OF UZI WHICH WANTS HER TO CONSUME WHAT WHA HT WHAT--- This episode did everything right, and I wouldn't want it to end any other way. Thank you, Liam Vickers, for creating some a fricking epic story with Glitch, and here's to (hopefully) more Murder Drones content to come!

K, y’all. Can we talk about the abandonment issues Uzi may have?

(The info I’m about to share is just my thoughts on all this. I could be right on some parts, and I could be wrong. Again, I’m just sharing what I think based on stuff we’ve seen from the series. Anyways.)

What inspired me to make this was this very moment right here.

“Are you like, gonna leave me?”

You can tell by her voice that she was scared. Scared that the only friend she’s ever had, the only friend that she’s made her whole life was going to leave her, and it certainly didn’t help that N and V got along well with the other students. Doing some activities together, having fun, playing around and stuff.

I think seeing this, this was the starting point of that fear in this episode. (I’m a little certain that in general, this may go back as early as the first episode, but I’ll talk about that in a bit.)

Here’s that fear she shows after investigating a little bit in the cabin, watching her closest friend get along and interacting with her classmates, despite having been a literal killing machine. And to add salt to the wound, he did so in such a short time. Something that she herself has never really accomplished the whole time she’s been in school.

Some jealousy may also be shown because of this, as she was talking to V, who was also doing well interacting with her classmates.

“Just.. so glad you guys fit right in. Suuuper cool.”

As we all know, Uzi certainly isn’t the most popular girl in school (which btw… relatable imo). In fact, Rebecca had said that she was “super unpopular” when she (well, the top half of her anyways, hehe) reunited with a few drones, whom I’m assuming are her friends.

Uzi doesn’t fit in. She’s like an outcast to her classmates. The “freak” of the bunch. She stands out from the rest of them.

“… You freak us out.”

“But mostly bite me!”

(I’m sorry, I wanted to include that second part here, whether it was relevant or not pfbt. Anyways.)

And it’s not just her classmates that practically outcasted her. Hell, her own father left her to be murdered by the same kind of drone that took away his wife (well, technically, the same kind of drone that struck her with nanite acid, leading to him putting her out of her misery, according to himself from the pilot, but anyways). Now, he may have been too terrified to take action and save his own daughter, possibly reliving the trauma of what happened to Nori. He probably couldn’t fathom having to do the same thing he did to his wife to Uzi. But it still does not justify leaving her, his own daughter, for dead. That is a really shitty dad move there, Khan.

(Or I could be overthinking on that part, and Khan could just be a really shitty father, but anyways)

The way Uzi may have taken it, was that he prioritized his precious doors over her. Having put up more doors to keep himself, and everyone else in the bunker, safe from drones like N. She wasn’t important enough to be saved at the moment she needed him most. Her father- the one who’s supposed to have her back, no matter what happened, the one who’s supposed to protect her whenever things go from bad to worse- had left her to be killed by a murder drone. (Possibly, I’m just spitballin here)

Once this happened, Uzi now has no one she can really trust to stick with her, no one she can rely on for support. She has no friends, barely has family; her father isn’t much like a father to her at all, let’s be honest.

(I would say Thad is the only one she kinda had, but if I remember correctly, they barely knew each other to be considered close friends in the pilot. The only reason Thad knew Uzi (or knew of Uzi) was because she’s Khan’s daughter. That was it.)

(Another thing I wanna add is how neglectful as a father Khan has been, even before the pilot. Hell, the posters that we see can speak volumes of how their relationship is. Not to mention he’s never really spent much (if any) quality time with her, too busy focusing on his obsession with doors.)

(One more thing to add: remember when Uzi told Thad one of the reasons she made her sick as hell railgun was to earn her father’s respect? …That’s just another point I wanna make about the infamous Doorman and how well he’s raised his daughter.) :)

So yeah, Uzi never really had anyone close to her in her life, meaning that she didn’t have anyone to trust, either.

Until this goober shows up.

(Or more like, he was about to kill her until she blew his head off, but that’s not the point.)

Of course, we all know they didn’t become best friends right away. Because he’s a disassembly drone, and she’s a worker drone, and… yeah.

If it wasn’t for Khan backing away from the fight and closing the door on Uzi, Uzi probably would’ve been dead right then and there. N probably would’ve killed her and everyone else without much of a second thought. However!

Considering how he told Uzi about V and J, he didn’t have the best relationship with either of them. (his crush on V seemed one-sided, at least in that flashback where V’s character was introduced? And J just straight up insulting him while stepping on him, and talking about how she’d kill him if she were allowed to.) He didn’t seem to have anyone to consider a friend either, at least mutually. For the longest time, it was just N, V, and J, doing their jobs, working together on killing the worker drones and such.

Then, what Uzi said to him about how the company treats the drones had created some doubts. N never questioned JCJenson and their motives until Uzi came along. And because of that, he almost died via a virus put in by J.

Then, after Uzi saves him from dying, and after they both stop V and J from killing the worker drones, N still stood by her side. N has never given her a reason not to trust him after that. He’s been with her the whole time after Uzi banished herself, and he’s never left her like the other drones have.

I’m thinking, after Uzi had banished herself from the colony, N could have left her on her own, he could’ve refused to let her go with him and V back to the landing pod, but he didn’t. (Not only because Uzi had encouraged him to look at the bigger picture, so to speak, but it also would’ve been out of character for N of all people (or robots in this case lol) to just deny her of joining the squad. He’s such a goddamn softy, let’s be real here.)

(Also, I wanna point out that from N’s perspective, she was the one who encouraged him to become an “angsty, rebellious disassembly drone” in the first place. If it wasn’t for her, he would never even question why they’re killing worker drones to begin with (other than to consume the oil for survival, of course). If it wasn’t for her, he’d still be out murdering. She was the one who respected him more than V or J ever did combined. (Well, in V’s case, this would be after her memories became messed up anyways. She did seem to like him when they were worker drones themselves.))

So yeah, this whole time, N has been the only one Uzi had ever really had throughout the series. N has been the only one that didn’t treat her like a freak, nor had insulted or threatened her in any way (lookin at you, V!). And most importantly, he was the only one that never left her at all. He stood by her side, he had her back, and she had his, and they stuck together, especially through the scary stuff.

So going back to episode 4, that was the first time since they’ve met that they were really separated. And the one time they weren’t with each other, Uzi had taken her solver form for the first time, and had killed her own classmates as a result.

Had N been with her while she was investigating stuff, chances of Uzi taking her solver form happening probably would’ve been really low.

Hell, this whole thing probably happened because she was alone, because nobody was with her, and she didn’t want to be left alone again, and she was scared that she was going to be left alone again after seeing N interact with the other students!

TLDR: Uzi probably has abandonment issues, and was scared the only friend she has was going to leave her like everyone else had in her life.

I wanted to make a long rant about this because it’s been on my mind off and on for a while, especially after hearing Uzi’s voice when she asks N if he’s going to leave her (god that really hurts!), and as sucky as I am with words, I wanted to try anyways. OOH. bet. okay so I think he would mostly write about Football and random gossip he’s heard around the school, like Rebecca having a new boyfriend every other week, or where people might think Sam is getting his magnets from (if he’s still alive at this point of the story)

I think he’d hear most of the gossip from Lizzy, and occasionally from the guys on his football team.

He could write about games they won, something significant that he might’ve done to win (all while being extremely humble about it cause he’s like that <3), or games they lost and why.

This goes hand and hand with the talking about gossip thing, but he could also go on a tangent about how much he hates how the whole school is run on gossip, and how he feels bad for the kids who get targeted. Could also bring up Uzi in this bit.

He could also talk about parties at his or others’ houses and stuff that might happen at those, like wrestling, fights, dumb jokes between friends, stuff like that. Maybe someone like broke something.

He could also write about his trophies n whatnot. There’s a lot Thad could write in his diary about.

Sorry y'all but this episode was the WORST murder drones episode EVER :(

Strap in folks. This is gonna be one LONG complaint...

(Sorry for the bad screenshots. I'm so fucking tired idgaf) SPOILERS UNDERNEATH THIS LINE GIRLIE! I REPEAT! SPOILERS UNDER THIS LINE!

Okay, positives (Don't worry. There isn't much) First of all, animation is GREAT. A bit zany and exaggerated but definitely not BAD. Voice acting is great. Cyn is great, Music's good....uh, Nuzi?...yeah that's it

Okay so we start off with Copper-9 exploding and the teacher giving zero fucks. I thought that was pretty funny. Then we see Uzi in space, currently tweaking out until Nori just basically spells out how to defeat the solver. There is no realization about how they can defeat the solver, it's just given to them. And no real reunion scene with Uzi and Nori. Sure they meet each other but there is NO closure. They act like they've been together for YEARS! Why doesn't Uzi freak out about meting her mom? Why doesn't Nori freak out about seeing her daughter? Or bring up N? Or how her life is? I get we're on a time crunch but COME ON!

Then N just swoops in to save Uzi. We kinda just skip past his reaction to Uzi's sacrifice which is a disappointment. He just says that he was mad about that and that they'll talk about it later, but they never do. It's just brushed over and done with. Then the solver comes in and throws them into space and then they're falling and burning up and then Nuzi becomes officially official.

As a Nuzi shipper, I should feel happy. My favorite ship was just mentioned of course, but it feels so shoe horned in and rushed. I was hoping it would have a bigger impact but it's just shoved in there without a celebration and the abruptly ends because Uzi want to slap a demon

You might also notice that it's been four minutes and SO much is happening in such a short amount of time. This will be a problem for the ENTIRE episode

Next we cut to J, Thad, Lizzy, and Khan and holy shit I am SO upset because they do NOTHING with them in this episode! They were setting them up for a fight but now everyone is just laying on the floor and doing jack.

Also SURPRISE, J is evil! Did you want more J screentime. Did you want her to be important to the plot or even have the SMALLEST redemption arc by the end? WELL TOO BAD because J being evil is all you're getting before she's kicked into the void forever :)

V also comes back and she has befriended the sentinels. I don't think anyone really believed she died. She basically just fights J and realizes how horrible of a person she is. She then says sorry to N for lying to him and stuff. That's cool. Don't exactly have anything to say on her. She's a good part of the episode but she suffers from underutilization like the others

Something something hot drones. Something something NxUzixV canon (My Uzi's Bi headcanon is REAL! YIPPEE)

Then they have an admittedly good fight scene. I have to say tho. There are a LOT of times where it seems like the characters are actually going to die and then the story just doesn't let it happen like some twisted game of hot potato and it gets annoying after a while. (Like when Cyn pulls out their hearts and stuff)

Then N and Uzi make up a handshake mid-fight and it just...stops the momentum of the fight. IF YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO MAKE A JOKE IN THERE THEN JUST DON'T MAKE A JOKE!

Then Uzi just...kills the solver? Or at least Cyn? Not because of something she did btw, but because Cyn went too crazy with fazing around and shit. ARE. YOU. SERIOUS! This character has been set up to be a strong a challenging foe and she just DIES because of an OOPSIE!? It's Doll's sudden death all over again but somehow WORSE. But of course we have to make Cyn's death rushed! WE ONLY HAVE 20 MINUTES IN THIS DAMN EPISODE!

And then Uzi, like, eats her heart? And then solver is just...inside her? And there's no consequences? It's just treated as a cool accessory? Holy shit this episode was rushed

Nori saves Khan from dying. I thought they were also going to have a heartfelt moment or something. All sobing. All tears. But no. For some reason Nori gets nervous about seeing her hubby again and runs off (Honestly if I was a fleshy spider heart, I would be nervous too). Then Khan calls the flesh heart hot because he's a freak

And then....that's it. They go back to the school like nothing happened. They don't really adress that the world is currently broken, or that N, V, and Uzi still got that dawg in them (Solver). They're all just like, YEP! THAT'S THE END OF THE STORY NOW!

N says that Uzi's his girlfriend, V and Lizzy are shown to be friends even tho we've only ever been TOLD that they're friends, We get a cut away to Doll's dead body that only makes me sad they didn't do more with her, and V gets turned on by N's anime drawings, the end.

Oh yeah, and there's an after credit scene of Uzi looking miserable, probably still having issues with the solver, so clearly not EVERYTHING is resolved by the end of this season. Uzi having to battle with the Solver inside her body is a cool concept and NOBODY can tell me that Liam was TOTALLY going to do another season with this premise, but then by episode 7, decided to stop mysteriously

Okay, not part of the episode but N's merch don't make no sense. V and Uzi's make sense because they have something that is related to what they did in that episode. V fought against the sentinels. Uzi got corrupted by the solver and dragged into the hole. But N's stand shows an event that happens in episode 2. Yes! EPISODE 2! At first, I was confused why this was but it's probably because unlike the other 2, N did nothing significant in this episode except get beat up and have panic attacks. (I did feel bad for and sympathized with him the whole time ngl). But I guess getting beat up and having panic attacks wouldn't make a cool stand now would it.

Yeah, all in all, I'm disappointed. So disappointed that I might just make a fanfiction rewritting episode 8 for myself and then make it canon out of spite. Honestly the lowest ranked episode for-
