Season 2 Bridgerton re-watch with the reluctant male
Wow! We've already started season 2, and get this. He ASKED me to watch an episode. Damn, Bridgerton is like a drug!
1) "terrible casting choice for the brothers. That guy looks 40." Unfortunately, he's talking about Benedict (i disagreed with him, i love Luke Thompson). He finds him to look much older than Anthony. But I think with the focus on Benedict's purpose, I think he'll warm to him.
2) "so they just explain the Duke's absence all season?" Yes, they do. It's weird but whatever.
3) "what's the blond girl's name again? She really plays the mean girl very good." No words needed to describe this one.
4) "I like her, she's probably the best one from the family." Said about Eloise, she IS an excellent character.
5) "the Queen seems obsessed with Lady Whatshername. It almost is too much." Interesting perspective. I haven't the heart to tell him that she's not even in the books but he'll never know anyway, he will never read them.
6) "oh, the Queen will name Kate as the diamond. Oh wait, nevermind."
7) "I'm not loving this character. She gets better, right?" Said about Kate 😢
8) "my fave characters right now. Portia, I like the Finch guy, he's funny. Oh and Eloise."
And that's the first episode down. He then mentioned, we can watch one every night till it's down so yay! He's been pulled in like the rest of us.
#polin#bridgerton#bridgerton season 3#the reluctant male re watch#although is it becoming not so reluctant now?#after reading this back again its sort of negative review#and it really wasnt#he laughs at the comedic moments and seems to tolerate or at least enjoy most of the show#first episodes are always slow#also this is just for fun#his opinions and thoughts arent mine

@witchingrey continue from here
Her brow slants; pulling back her share of the covers, rather greedily stolen and pausing. Since when did the aristocratic, exiled prince, despite having a sweltering disdain for nobles, complete devotion to cleanliness, class and ‘sophisticated’ dishes want something so simple ( in his eyes at least ) as pizza ? Her accomplice certainly was going into the deep part of the pool now; but for him to ask such a thing …was this same soul she knew?
“ …. Have you finally seen the light or are you that hungry? I wonder about you, you know. “
Her voice is deadpan and slightly groggy as C.C. rubbed her eyes; sitting beside him on the bed’s edge . It’s teasing, but also suspicious, as all who even remotely knew her knew that the woman had no qualms with dwarfing an entire box or two or even thrice her size alone and without anyone interfering. The possibility that she’d remotely share it with even her accomplice was dubious at best.
The immortal lets a silence pervade; owlish in her stare for a passing moment; a brief dwelling into long buried humanity within. Those large eyes blink in a comedic fashion as if he had spoken tongues she hadn’t heard in almost the length of a millennia before once more lidded in that lazy, half-sleepy suspicion . Was this really her brilliant and scheming, at times rather picky charge and partner in crime? She felt that odd sensation again; a concern for his…odd request.
Not that she’d so easily admit it. Her shoulder brushes naturally against his rather loosely as she adjusts herself upright, thinking for a long pause…then:
“It’s pretty late. It’s not like you to even want pizza. Maybe Cheese-kun’s influence is finally giving you insight into the finer tastes in life. Or this entire thing is really getting to you after all, and you’ve succumbed to the call you’ve denied for so long. Well who am I to deny those enlightenment? The alternative is, well…
Maybe you’re just becoming more weird, Lelouch. “
But she seems pleasantly amused; it shows in that faint smile of hers, twirling a strand of verdant hair before rising with a sleepy, muffled yawn. “Well, if there’s any reason to get up for something? It might as well be pizza . Where’d I put those leggings … “
Suddenly the often sly and teasing witch seemed far more earnest to partake in his hunger, as well as her own. She had to admit….she was curious to see how Lelouch took to it. She’d never so much has seen him touch what he’d consider ‘junk food’.
“Are you getting up, or do you expect me to deliver it to you?” She’s already digging her right leg into her pants; reaching for her skirt and brown jacket; cleared from the occasional ‘red stains’.
“Because if you are, it’ll be finished by the time I get back. So let’s do this. Every time is a good time for pizza, so naturally there’s one open. Or we’ll just find..”
Her grin almost borderlines on frightening.
“Other ways. Come on Lelouch.”
Many options were possible for an night shorting itself in the middle of an started sleep --- the quiet desire to enjoying the night without no one around unless an immortal witch that will notice that something troubled his mind ; a silent overthinking into the dreams landscape, recalled the necessity to checking his mouvements before morning fall ; recollections of memories he pushed behind when the daylight welcoming him, repressed into endless nightmares who were another prison he coming familiar with...and stomach troubles in very rare occassion, when hunger sensations were too high for even relax. When he opened his eyes to the darkness around him, during a couple of seconds disconnected about the time that could be exposing under various means to reach it and didn't care about it --- the faint pain into a quick need to have something to eat went out of his mind. Food deprivation or even sleep deprivation were another habits who sometimes making uncanny his own consideration as a human --- because he was a symbol, work overtaken anything else ; because he was Zero, no ones would cared about the boy with an Lamperouge name ; because he sought something more than his own humanity, his own needs even the primaries ones mattered less. An single thought crossed his own desire to forgetting altogether his own selfish and uninteresting passing wish to have his hunger contented --- a pizza. His aristocrat education didn't prioritized that kind of food who was very low, who was not going to give enough energy to his body and whom he would normally mocking...but having been used to having C.C having fun with that guilty pleasure...maybe...maybe it sounded something quick to eat, good-enough for the stomach food doing it job.
Even before his hands reached for awakening the witch closer to him, even before the words dropped his mouth into an natural tone for someone of his age --- but he wasn't someone simpler as an high school student wit nothing to worry ; he was an exiled prince who wanted taking revenge of his own family and making them regret to have messed up the entire world for their selfish power-hungry souls he cannot tolerate to coexist --- Lelouch knew the dramatic domino he would bring down by admitting only such a simple need. The Lelouch she knew was an mole hiding every one of his deepest needs, even the most easy ones because the Lelouch he was used to wear was an man in which his own existence mean nothing that achieving an result on the end of the road --- that Lelouch didn't needed to have someone understanding the density of the sacrifices he was doing to himself, how many pain he accepted to take because rewritten his entire world as a self-proclaimed mastermind mean be the source of all loss into the moves been made into the game. Even the man he was, having no barriers to showing an such different self, was amused to the bend of his personality --- there were times when smaller part of this soft and desired-normal being awakening into shorter moments, before be pushed behind back into the lock.
Amusement brighted his expression as the second Lelouch hear her expected comment. He had been sitting back in the head, already have preparing himself for going out but didn't moved too far afterwards have given some physical signal he was needed her and expressed the dramatic sentences. Her first remark had been correct --- he was that hungry that the thought of pizza crossed his mind naturally. Lelouch himself could argue about hours that as much he was able to controlling pretty much everything thanks to his perfect grey cells, his mind left him some kind of mystery to solve of the reason of why that particular day, he asked something as simple as pizza. It was something trivial as best but he could perfectly saw themselves discussing over this simple fact for a couple of hours. How something like him could eventually lowered down himself to that point? How the powerful Lelouch vi Britannia could accepting his defeat in front of an oval pleasure filled with different ingredients heated in an oven? Some of her second comments increased the perfect 'you got me' sentiment he feel the first time around which higher some contentement smile. He loved how the tease with some of his decisions came out --- it was never nasty of her part, instead she was showing her own surprise towards some unexpected things coming from him...and he had lot of those still unexplored seeking some good opportunities to shine.
❝ Weird look like a second nature but choosing to turn into a demon without burning into some physical hellfire but a hot metaphorical one might helping it. ❞ He teasing back with a great appreciation of the compliment she had offering him. ❝ It seems nothing can escape you and even the mysteries of myself can be solved in one second by one word. I might have succumbed to some delayed call that I would have liked remain in denial with if my mind hadn't requested that simple need thanks how empty my stomach feel. ❞ Natural compliments were returned to her, and there was further amusement into the admission. Yes, the impression he was making a real fool of himself was fully present. Softness followed afterwards his features as her positive answer to having her preparing herself for answering his desire was...something beautiful to see. Cute crossed his mind as consideration but he wasn't the man to confessing he could find something 'cute' --- it looked bad into his lips and it was an overbearing tone for one observation of his eyes. ❝ I try to forget my pain by relaxing and let you time with my selfiness --- I'm not going to call off the food desire that rule into my body right now. ❞ He commented with an laugh as he forced his overall intention to laying down for a while to wait a little before moving away. ❝ If the others ways imply seeing you cook, I'm going to be an impatient man at you while be far more distracted during a moment I guess about commenting. Better we check if we can have some delivery since the world shall know it's not a good idea to make me hungry. ❞
#witchingrey#ic :: lelouch vi britannia#verse tbt.#i managed to write a novel over pizza xD#you are welcomed with meta feels!!!#i like how lelouch is just like: my mind requested pizza don't ask me why#which lead to such a wonderful thing since lelouch have to assuming his need lmao#lelouch and c.c tbt.

30 Rock: 5 Relationships Fans Were Behind (& 5 They Rejected)
For such screw-ups and oddballs, the characters in 30 Rock sure do have their fair share of relationships. Liz Lemon and her crazed cohorts found themselves dating some of the strangest people around. Their collective ensemble of suitors ran the gamut from weird to plain cuckoo. And fans are thankful they could witness every single, hilarious moment.
But did they love every one of those dates or relationships? Nope. For every one they cheered on, there was one they disliked. So keeping that in mind, here are five relationships in 30 Rock fans supported as well as five they rejected.
RELATED: 5 Best & 5 Worst Episodes of 30 Rock, According to IMDb
10 Supported: Liz and Floyd
It all started when Liz received flowers meant for another Liz. The sender was a 30 Rock employed lawyer, Floyd DeBarber (Jason Sudeikis), who Liz had a crush on. Honest mistake. What Liz did next wasn't so honest, though. In spite of Lemon lying about being an alcoholic and causing Floyd to break up with his then current girlfriend, Floyd somehow fell for her. Their relationship essentially ended because they couldn't handle a long-distance relationship. Later, Floyd returned in season 4's finale to get married. Fans should be mad on Liz's behalf, but Sudeikis' natural charm makes you forgive him.
9 Rejected: Liz and Dennis
Fans like Dennis Duffy because of the hilarity that follows him around. He aggravates Liz like few other people can. Dean Winters brilliantly plays Duffy, and he makes the best out of his worst traits. He's the equivalent of a rash that goes away, then comes back when you least expect it. As for his relationship with Liz, we reject him because he's just a terrible boyfriend. For her. He seems all right with other women. Especially anyone with low standards and expectations. Dennis might okay when you're twenty-something and trying to upset your parents, but he's not a keeper.
8 Supported: Jack and Bianca
Isabella Rossellini as Jack Donaghy's ex-wife Bianca made us laugh in a way that Jack's other love interests didn't. It's not just her comedic delivery; Rossellini's severe approach to Bianca is what makes her jokes land with so much weight. You simply don't expect someone like Bianca to argue about custody of an Arby's location. The inanity born from her and Jack's contentious divorce is rib-tickling on top of insightful when you wonder why Jack is the way he is with women. This couple may not have lasted, but fans would have loved to see more of Bianca at least.
RELATED: 10 Jokes From 30 Rock That Have Already Aged Poorly
7 Rejected: Liz and Jamie
Liz had a crush on 30 Rock's coffee delivery guy Jamie (Val Emmich), and the feeling was mutual. Unfortunately for Liz, Jamie was younger. Nevertheless, she agreed to a date with Jamie after lying about her age. He guessed twenty-nine, and she didn't correct him at first. The truth about both their ages — she's thirty-eight, he's only twenty — eventually came out. Surprisingly, they stayed together for a minute. Liz even began to enjoy the novelty of having a younger guy on her arm. That is until she learned Jamie lived at home with his mother, who resembled Liz. Creepy much?
6 Supported: Tracy and Angie
Despite the contrary, Tracy Jordan has never cheated on his wife Angie (Sherri Shepherd). He is as faithful as time. So, Tracy only had one love interest in 30 Rock. And what a love interest she is. It's true Angie isn't the easiest person to be around as she's demanding — especially in the boudoir — and forthright. But as Tracy's life partner, she fits him to a tee. They play off each other so well, and their chemistry is irresistible. Frankly, Angie steals the spotlight in every scene she's in. Her reality show needs to be a thing, by the way.
5 Rejected: Liz and Gray
Liz and Jenna kept bumping into a handsome guy in the elevator at 30 Rock. Yet they didn't know his name. So, they called him "The Hair" for the time being. To Liz's surprise, The Hair — also known as Gray (Peter Hermann) — was into her instead of Jenna. They got along rather well, but Liz couldn't help but feel insecure because she thought Gray was out of her league looks-wise. When the two returned to Gray's apartment, Liz made the most unsettling discovery — Gray had a photo of a mutual relative. Which meant Liz and Gray are distant relatives. Dealbreaker!
RELATED: 30 Rock: The 10 Worst Things Jenna Maroney Ever Did
4 Supported: Jenna and Paul
After meeting Jenna Maroney impersonator Paul L'astnamé (Will Forte), the real Jenna started dating him. This was the perfect way for narcissistic Jenna to date herself. On the surface, this couple's bizarre behavior was too much to soak in. At least at first. Their antics might be over-the-top, but they're entertaining. That being said, Jenna and Paul may have the most healthy relationship in all of 30 Rock. A bold statement all things considered. The fact of the matter is, Jenna and Paul are communicative, honest, and mature with each other. Other couples on the show can't claim the same.
3 Rejected: Kenneth and Hazel
Kristen Schaal's character as Hazel Wassername is controversial among fans, and she and Kenneth as a couple were too much to handle. When you take two of 30 Rock's quirkiest characters and put them together for longer than a scene or two, you expect amazing television. Wrong. It becomes excessive and plain uncomfortable. Both Hazel and Kenneth are best tolerated in small bursts. Shoving them together for a brief yet torrid relationship was the complete opposite of amusing. And apparently some people believe Hazel is when 30 Rock jumped the shark. Let's be honest — the show jumped long ago.
RELATED: 30 Rock: Jack Donaghy’s 10 Most Badass Quotes
2 Supported: Liz and Criss
After dating guys like Wesley Snipes (not that one) and Carol Burnett (or that one), Liz all of a sudden found herself in a long-term relationship with Criss Chros (James Marsden) in season 6. There was no buildup, though. Just them dating and happy-ish. This was probably done to avoid the theatrics that arise in the beginning of any Lemon relationship. Already off to a good start. Things weren't easy for the couple especially with their decision to have kids. In time, however, their flaws help balanced each other out. Criss turned out to be a perfect fit for Liz.
1 Rejected: Jack and Avery
This is a tough choice since Elizabeth Banks is so darn likable, but it feels as if fans rejected Jack and Avery Jessup's relationship over time. They lost steam way too soon after starting off so strong. Such a shame seeing as Avery challenged Jack and made him grow as a person. The writers let things linger on far too long. Not to mention the jokes became forced and increasingly less funny. In addition, there was a sort of sadness to their relationship by the end. Fans also were not happy with how the Jack/Avery/Nancy love triangle ended.

to note;
haechan pov
this is haechan of 127, not dream; so he isn’t soft × fluffy oof
i’m just kidding, he still is,,, at some points
i hope this isn’t too cliché ><
author’s note; thank you for the request anon!!! ٩(^ᴗ^)۶ ah i’m so excited to write this and i hope this isn’t too disappointing,,, i love you vvvvv much (❁´‿`❁) i’m really sorry this took so long;;; (,,•́ . •̀,,) there may be grammer errors here and there so please excuse that ahh but enjoy~
let’s go:
12 a.m.
“get out… please,”
haechan let out a self-depreciating chuckle, quirking the left corner of his lip as your broken voice resonated in his mind. the look of distraught and profound sadness never left your face as haechan heed your orders, stepping out of your once-homely, shared apartment. he walked along the sidewalk that led to the nearby park, nibbling at his lower lip. what went wrong? that was the question that bothered him so much. all he could do now was to walk, walk down his path of regrets. silently, the tears flowed down his cheeks and dripped from his chin. he was too sad to cry out or wail, and eventually, he slumped down onto a bench while the magnitude of his loss swept over him. the loss of you, his beloved. was he at fault? no, it couldn’t have been. haechan buried his head into the palms of his warm hands, sobbing at maximum strength. unconsciously, his mind wondered to the forbidden realms of how he had first met you. it was not the appropriate time to think about such things but he just couldn’t help it.
❃
“hey, i’m haechan. i find you real cute, so just call me hyukkie~”
yes, that was the first thing he had said to you five years prior. what a smooth talker, huh. but haechan was known for that, his specialty people might call it even. he had always been the happy virus of the class, the beloved jokester, a natural flirt and dare he say, the most outgoing one in the school. he was popular, as in, very well known and loved by the school. his outrageous antics, be it on friends or teachers, never failed to humor the class; even the teachers would find it amusing enough to let him off the hook, sometimes, encouraging it to lighten up the mood.
the thing is, he had everyone begging for his attention — romantically, that is. each and every day, he had a constant supply of food and love notes to the point where you’d wonder if he was secretly an idol or something. however, unfortunately for him, the one he had eyes for, never blinked an eye at him. you were always an exception — you never seemed to laugh at his jokes, much less even flinched at his pranks. whatever haechan threw at you, you somehow managed to avoid it. and of course, this gave haechan’s ego a big hammering down. he didn’t know what to do, always dumbfound by your unaffected emotions. at that moment, he was at his wits’ end. to be very honest, he didn’t know what made him so attracted to you. did you cast some magic spell on him? because my, were you bewitching, or so it seemed like that to him. he adored you so much but didn’t know a single thing about you. it was a hilarious situation, really. maybe it was your immunity to react to his comedic statements, maybe it was your quiet, stand-offish personality, or maybe it was your laugh.
it was the most unexpected thing. the moment the flirtatious words left haechan’s mouth, you were flabbergasted at his introduction but let out such a charming laugh, he became the one tongue-tied and then poof, a wild crush on you appeared. so, you were the typical new kid of the class, having been transferred from your last school at the middle of the year for the terrible classmates you had. what you had not known was how lady luck wanted to torment you a little longer before giving you the happiness you deserved. haechan became highly aware of his affections for you and showered you with lots of love and attention. oh, what had been thought a blessing, turned out to be your worst nightmare. for everything he gave, it was always backed up with death threats from his admirers. this drove you to the edge. the constant bullying that was waiting for you at the end of every day, the occasional egg being thrown at you and the rare moments of you actually getting along with someone, eventually being your best and only friend. — you tolerated all of that, but haechan never knew. and that was when you started to really distant yourself from him. he was the cause of the toxic relationships you had with your fellow schoolmates. he was the cause for all the pain that you had to suffer. he was the cause of everything, yet he knew nothing.
❃
it was finally senior year, the year everyone had been waiting for, the year all seniors would graduate, the year for prom. that was haechan’s chance, his last chance, to ask you out. he had been trying for the past two years, ever since you transferred. haechan came to know about his tyrant admirers from his best friend, mark. of course, he was vehement to say the least. upon seeing the two-faced girls in the corridor one day, he lashed out at their appalling behavior towards you, never stopping to take a breather from his scolding. you were there when that happened, and honestly, like everyone else, you had never seen him so infuriated before. it was a first, and you were astounded that it was because of you. fortunately for him, that was his redeeming ticket to something he had never directly caused. you truly appreciated his willingness to stand up for your sake, but well, haechan knew he was indirectly the cause for your mistreatment and he had to do you justice.
and that was the turning point of your relationship.
“be my sunflower?”
he asked you out to prom.
❃
“be my sun?”
haechan held a stunning bouquet of crimson red roses in his clammy, trembling hands, shyly looking up at you as he asked you to be his significant other a year after prom. unexpectedly, haechan received a soft, tender kiss on the lips as he felt a smooth hand lay on his cheek, your thumb grazing over his supple cheeks. overjoyed were you, as you gently took the bouquet with your free hand. your smile was so genuinely sweet, with just the right amount of shyness, haechan couldn’t help but feel his heart burst with a sudden surge of warmth and joy.
❅
1 a.m.
that was a memory he held so dear to his heart. one in many, that is.
you were his sun as much as he was to everyone else. you were his sunflower, so beautiful, warm, and positive; and ultimately, you were his source of happiness. he didn’t deserve you and he reminded himself of that every single day. it tormented him, it made him work harder to make up for whatever he thought he lacked, it made him love you unconditionally. but was that really enough? he was conflicted, fighting off as many tears as he could. pathetic, he despised himself. dragging himself off the bench, he lifted his right fist up and threw it to an unsuspecting tree. an unimaginable pain blossomed in his knuckles, as drops of blood started to ooze out from the rips in his skin. a sharp hiss escaped his lips as he clenched his jaw, regretting his impulsive and stupid move. that pain however, is incomparable to the one he felt in his heart.
❃
college students. two-year love birds. the couple of the campus. that was you and haechan, alright. everything was the same, yet so different in college. he was still the prankster gangster that he was, topped with more mischief, that is. definitely still a hit with everyone, but thankfully in the friendly sense. on the other hand, you became the campus sweetheart. oh my, boys fell for you left and right, even with the knowledge that you were long taken. you became famed for your endearing and kind personality, cute to the core, as haechan described. nevertheless, this soon became a problem, a problem that would escalate to heights unimaginably high. haechan became overcome with dread the moment he saw a random boy from your psychology class trot on to you, hands gripping onto a box of chocolates. he witnessed the entire moment, from where the boy had confessed, he presumed, to when he got rejected, as he noticed the droop of the boy’s head as he slowly turned around to walk away. conjointly, he looked to see your perplexed expression as you passed the chocolates to a friend that happened to pass by. initially, all was good as haechan was always notified by you whenever you received a confession of love.
howbeit, after a few months later, things had seemingly changed. you had grown distant, yet again, with different circumstances this time however. you went out with guys haechan never even knew existed. you spent less time together. there were lesser kisses and hugs; lesser “i love you”s. he placed more effort into the relationship, buying you weekly flowers, cooking for you when you came back to the dorm late — haechan became desperate. his self-esteem hit rock bottom. insecurity about his looks, envy about the amount of attention you gave to others instead of him, fear that he would lose you. he became possessive. it drove him insane.
❅
11 p.m.
“haechan, why have you been acting like this?”
those words floated out of your mouth so simply, like it meant nothing. why? it was lunatic, how you weren’t aware about how horribly you were treating him, how you didn’t understand his feelings, how you never asked about his day anymore, how you never ranted about your problems to him anymore, how you never told him you loved him anymore. haechan was so sick of it, he had to deal with the constant stress the professors put on him daily, them breathing up his neck and then deal with the constant reminder that you were probably out with friends, more specifically, male friends. so, his possessiveness caught up to him, causing him to come off as mean or more accurately, manipulative. wherever you went, he demanded for a report of everything you did. whoever you called, he accused you of cheating on him. whenever you laughed at something, he cursed at the source of your laughter. what he adored most had become something he dreaded most.
“you actually want to know why? finally? when did you start caring about me again, huh?”
rage. that was all haechan felt. the spur of anger stirred in his whole entire being. he spat on the ground separating the two of you.
“you’ve become someone i don’t recognize, haechan,”
a roar of laughter bubbled up to his lips. what a hypocrite, his lips curled into a snarl. haechan was seeing red, angered to the point of no return. his mouth opened, spewing out the toxins he had been storing in his body for months, via words. continuously without stop, he yelled at you, who started to cower in fear of the person haechan had become.
“you became a whore, (y/n)!”
that was the breaking point; for both haechan and you. he went too far. he knew he did. but he didn’t even try to stop the words from spilling out.
s m a c k .
skin against skin, palm against cheek. haechan felt the tingly burn on his cheek after your hand had connected with it, causing a loud smack to ripple apart the deafening silence that engulfed you two, moments prior. he looked up at you, holding his cheek, only to see pearl-like tears rolling down your cheeks from wide, luminous eyes. your eyes that once shined like the stars in the vast night sky, held so much pain and regret. haechan could see it so clearly but he refused to look away, he refused to back down, not after all the nights he had spent looking at the mirror, wondering why he was not good enough for your wandering eyes. his dark lashes started to brim heavy with tears, hands clenched into shaking fists, in a desperate battle of grief and hatred.
“let’s break up,”
❅
1:30 a.m.
what happened that night was not something haechan was proud of. after beating up the innocent tree, bloodied hands were his payment for his offence. his anger slowly dissipated, turning into complete sadness. he loved you. no, he loves you. after everything, he knows that you didn’t know what you were doing, you were just suddenly showered by affection from other people that you didn’t realize how you were treating haechan, he knew you didn’t mean to break up with him, and he knew you were still in love with him, as much as he was with you. he was willing to forgive you, he wanted to. he wanted to hold you in his arms, and breathe in your scent again. he wanted to whisper sweet nothings. he just wanted you back.
closing his eyes, haechan went back to the bench and plopped himself on it. the cool, night wind tickled his neck, almost as if to comfort him. the gentle swishing of the leaves seemed to whisper to him that everything would work out. it had to, haechan thought, as another gush of tears came swimming to his eyelids. one by one, they slipped past his closed gates, sliding down his cheeks in big, fat droplets. the warmth they brought along comforted him, until eventually becoming cold too, like the world was to him now, as they drop of his chin. it’s going to be a long night, he sighed.
❅
2:00 a.m.
“haechan, wake up! haechan, please… i-i still love you. please wake up, please be alright, oh my god, i’m so sorry. i don’t deserve you one bit,”
it can’t be.. it just can’t be. haechan knew he was asleep but that voice, it sounded so… real. he didn’t know if he could believe it, after all he had been delusional for a few months now. gathering all of his strength, he peeked through an eye as he felt the sudden drop of a tear on his hand, his palms receiving an intense amount of warmth, and a melancholy-sounding voice drifted up to his ears.
“h-hyukkie… i don’t even deserve to call you that anymore. i thought about what you said, and i realized how badly i’ve been treating you this past few months. i never meant that to happen, i was so caught up with everything that i,, no, that’s no excuse for my behavior. if you wake up, i hope you know that you were always the sun, and the only reason why i could be a sunflower was because of you. you gave me so much love that i could never repay you back, no matter how hard i try. never in my life have i received so much attention from a single person, i’m so lucky to have you but i never appreciated you enough. i was never good enough for you, i’m so sorry—“
haechan had heard enough, enough to understand that the feelings between both of you were mutual. you two still loved each other, and that was enough. you had grasped onto his blood-stained hands so tightly, he knew you were genuine. the look of utter distraught stirred his heart, he knew you were truly apologetic. the moment he removed his hand to touch your cheek, your head shot up at once, cutting off your ramble, taken aback by his actions but more importantly, the fact that he was alright. at once, haechan was engulfed by a humongous hug as he was squeezed by the love of his life. aghast was he, but responded by hugging you back, burying his head into the hollow of your neck, leaving fluttery little kisses all the way up. your giggles were music to haechan’s ears. god, he had missed you so much. after what seemed like eternity in each others’ comforting embrace, you two separated, smiling like the goofballs both of you were.
“so, we good here?”

Summer Anime* 2017 Lightning Review
*Just the shows I watched, of course
I’m leaving out shows that I dropped, so if you remember me talking about a show but it’s not listed here, I was either bored by it or just didn’t enjoy it anymore after a certain point, and that’s really all there is to say~!
Shows Included: 18if, Action Heroine Cheer Fruits, Aho Girl, Boku no Hero Academia 2nd Season, Centaur no Nayami, Classroom of the Elite, Clione no Akari, Gamers!, Hajimete no Gal, Isekai Shokudou, Kakegurui, Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun, Knight’s & Magic, Koi to Uso, Made in Abyss, Nana Maru San Batsu, New Game!!, Nobunaga no Shinobi: Ise Kanegasaki-hen, Pokemon Sun & Moon, Princess Principal, Teekyuu 9, Tenshi no 3P!, Tsurezure Children,
Reminder that there are spoilers in the reviews below
18if I didn’t quite get what they were trying for with this show until about half-way through. This felt like more of an excuse to explore and experiment stylistically than to actually tell a story at most times, but because of that it got to tell lots of varied and unusual-for-anime stories, including an episode exploring the culture of the hearing impaired/deaf population of Japan, which was really cool. The ending just ended up being kind of wank, but since there wasn’t really that big of a reveal set up, it wasn’t that disappointing. If you want to see some interesting visual styles and some cool Twilight Zone style reveals, you might give this show a shot. 7/10
Action Heroine Cheer Fruits This was quietly one of the better shows of the season. It had the same framework story-wise as Love Live; girls end up banding together to save a building from being demolished and help support the town by buying into the newest fad sweeping the nation. Only instead of idol groups, it’s “local heroes”, live stage shows portraying sentai and superhero like characters beating villains with the goods and virtues representing the town they’re from. The girls are all really cute, even the really cliché ojou-sama~ Shimura had her moments. I will also give this show all the praise in the world for not only including a handicapped character but also making her a central figure to the plot. The ending of the finale where she is included in the show after working behind the scenes for so long tugged on my heart strings a bit. Plus, there is a not so vague relationship between Misaki and Roko, with Roko probably being my favorite character in the show. It’s not as moe as Love Live and the comedy isn’t as quality as something like Yuru Yuri or Wakaba Girl, but it’s still a great show. 9/10
Aho Girl The comedy reminded me of a mixture of Saiki-kun and Plustic Nee-san; very off the wall slapstick kind of stuff, but still really clever and you could tell there was a lot of love put into this show. I don’t know that I would say I laughed the most while watching this show this season (more on that later), but I would say it’s the comedy of the season for sure. Was really easy to forget the episodes were only 12 minutes long because it was just jam-packed with gags. Definitely a must watch for 2017. 10/10 Boku no Hero Academia 2nd Season I definitely feel like the girl characters are getting more screen time in season 2, which is always good. I still don’t see what people see in Bakugo, even after reading ahead in the manga, I don’t feel like his attitude is “redeemed” or “explained” much at all. Hero Killer Stain definitely stole the show; he’s so grungy and RAW, and Go Inoue delivers Stain’s final lines so passionately he almost had me convinced he was the real deal. Like I said earlier, I’ve read ahead, so some of the moments to come are exciting, but there are also some that I can feel will take up waaay too much time, or even have filler put in, which I’m not looking forward to as shounen manga stretches things out enough as it is. Will certainly get another season, it’s so popular it would be stranger for it to not get a third one. 7/10
Centaur no Nayami It’s been a while since I have read the manga, but I feel like they got many of the voices down exactly the way I imagined them. However, it also felt like there was a lot of stuff that was anime-original, or at least were out of order. As much as I can remember, this was the only anime this season with a confirmed-in-show homosexual couple, and while the explanation to the kids in the scene left a lot to be desired, considering the overlying theme of “zero-tolerance tolerance” towards discrimination, felt kind of odd, and felt like maybe the studio made it a little more conservative than it was in the manga. It was a shame that a lot of the everyday life moments from the manga were cut out in favor of more tropes per minute. What I’m trying to say is that while the show is good, it isn’t the best representation of the manga that it could have been in my opinion. 8/10
Classroom of the Elite This show was almost trash, but was saved by the revelation of Ayanokoji’s true self at the very end. Right as Horikita is seemingly spilling her tsundere guts out to him as well. This, in a similar vein to Kakegurui, was really unintentionally comedic to me. There was zero tension at all, mostly because you could see where it was going in most cases. I think it was a bit cheap to have the solution to how Ayanokoji would win the survival test come from a rule they never mentioned about the classes losing points for guessing other class leaders wrong. It would be like having a multiple choice question A/B/C/D and then saying the answer was E. I also think Kushida was a dud. Every time she tried to buddy up or get closer to Ayanokoji, I kept waiting for him to say “At the risk of you blackmailing me again, I agree.” Especially when she asked him who would he choose between her and Horikita it’s like... gee, do I pick the super effective mark I just procured or the girl who has blackmail on me and is asking me this? I wonder... A show that thinks very highly of itself unjustly. 5/10
Clione no Akari This was kind of bizarre series; it was pretty obvious from the beginning that a certain character would die or was already dead. It felt like a series aimed at like 10 year olds, in an effort to teach them about bullying through entertainment. I don’t really have much to say about it, it had an obvious message with a miserable ending, I’d say pass on it. 5/10 Gamers! I’m not as enamored with this series as most people seem to be, but it has it’s charms to be sure. Karen and Aguri are really great, and in a close third Uehara-kun, but I’m not a fan of Chiaki and Keita, which is kind of bad considering they are the ones we’re meant to be rooting for. I was also pretty shocked at how well received this was considering it is almost entirely a love-pentagon rom-com; any other series with a love triangle or more seems to be met with “ugh, why does this shit have to be in here.” I suppose if it’s meant to be poking fun at the trope as a whole, then I can see it, but if that’s the case then it was so blunt I immediately dismissed it as being too likely to be the case. Karen is probably my fav in the show, and I was kind of annoyed that the rest of the actual game club didn’t really show up much at all despite the early hype for each member. Aguri is a late favorite, mostly because of how she was in the finale; a person who genuinely doesn’t understand the appeal of video games but is still willing to hang out with gamers and tease them about gaming’s darker sides. 8/10 Hajimete no Gal This was basically what I thought Galko-chan was going to be, but it also had it’s own uniqueness to it. The show knew what it was, and didn’t take itself too seriously, but wasn’t a slouch either; it made an effort to make the characters get to know each other and come together somewhat organically, considering how big the cast was. Obviously I’m drawn to Eri Kitamura’s Ranko; the misunderstood childhood friend with a gay crush on her best friend beating up any guys that try to get in her way is something I can get behind as a protagonist, let alone a side character. I think this show is actually more interesting censored than uncensored because they did it creatively and on-theme instead of just mysterious beams of light or clouds of steam. A fun show if you don’t mind sex comedies. 9/10
Isekai Shokudou The “comfy” show of the season to be sure. A great lesson in evolving narrative as well; it starts of with seemingly one off stories each week, but begins to intertwine the stories of the patrons that come along, which was done quite well. The only real problem with it is that, it’s called a western restaurant multiple times in the show, but almost everything they serve is Japanese; it was a real missed opportunity to introduce food from around the world to the Japanese audience, who would be able to relate even more to the bewildered fantasy characters coming to eat every seven days. That being said, if you just want to relax and enjoy something really just pleasant, or need to make yourself hungry, too, this is the show for you. 10/10 highly recommended
Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni It’s kind of a misleading title, to be honest; it’s meant to convey how powerful his smartphone is in this new fantasy land devoid of most technology, but it’s actually more that God gave him affinity to all elements that makes the protagonist so OP. If that wasn’t enough, he can also learn all null magic, which is meant to be like character specific spells... He doesn’t even have to be taught them, he just have to read about them in a book and he can use it, which is crazy ridiculous in any other show, but because you are expecting him to be over-powered from the start, it’s actually quite enjoyable, in my opinion. The harem stuff was tedious but at least they acknowledged that a) in a medieval setting and time period polygamy being normal makes sense and b) protagonist is still holding on to his previous world and life’s customs of monogamy, and won’t commit to marrying all of them, not yet, anyway. I don’t know that I’d watch a second season of this to be honest. It would have to go one of two ways; either an actual challenge shows up, or he ends up similar to One Punch Man, and begins working on a way to go home or something. 8/10
Kakegurui I said earlier that Aho Girl is comedy of the season, but that I didn’t laugh at it the most this season. This show (and another) would be the reason behind that. I don’t know if I’m just too jaded for it or what but the fact that this show was billed as “psychological” slays me. How anyone could take any of these characters or situations seriously, in the most obvious hentai setting on the planet, is beyond me. The style and animation was all ready pretty and well done, as were the expressions. It’s hard not to compare it to Prison School visually. My main complaint would be that Yumeko isn’t fleshed out enough; they tried to make her this force of nature type character but so was the student council president, who was far more mysterious (naturally), so she just ended up feeling underdeveloped. Since this probably won’t get a second season, I would have liked for the finale to be more in jeopardy by having the second to last episode end with the “president” denying Yumeko’s challenge with a smile, which would have been devastating to Yumeko. If you would like an edgy version of over the top characters rivaling the Phoenix Wright series that take themselves a bit too seriously, you might give it a watch. It’s hysterical. 7/10
Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun I’ll be brief about this one; it’s basically Sakamoto Desu ga, Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge, and DAYS!! mixed together. Make of that what you will. I loved the coach and the girls’ basketball star character. 7/10
Knight’s & Magic FINALLY another mecha show I can get into! Just had to make it wizardy and junk, I guess. Another show this season where the protag is OP and it ends up being just fine, honestly. A slight complaint would be that they bother to mention how much time passes between scenes multiple times, some of which are “many months” long, yet none of the characters visibly change with time. It kind of reminded me a bit of Arslan, in some ways. I would have liked to see more about the mysterious race that guards the secrets to the mech engines as well. If you’re only kind of sorta into mecha like me and want something different, this is a great show just for you! 9/10
Koi to Uso Really should have dropped this one, but there was just a glimmer of hope now and then that this would actually have an ending. It didn’t though, and now I feel like I wasted six hours of my life. There wasn’t even any big reveal in the finale that would be a hook to get me to read the rest of the story, just “he loves both and well I guess that’s it.” I liked how genuinely awkward the protagonist was; these days in anime they’ll say the protagonist is weird, otaku, awkward, but then he’ll be the least nerdy of his friends, or “borderline weird”, which when he’s with his friends makes him look normal (see Hajimete no Gal), which defeats the purpose. The guy friend who was in love with the protagonist was really interesting, and it felt like they didn’t do enough to make it feel like he would ever actually confess. The show isn’t particularly funny or poignant either, it’s just kind of there. The thing I will remember most about this show is that it had a catchy opening theme. 4/10
Made in Abyss It’s a crying shame that this isn’t a 24 episode season; who knows how long it will be until a second season, though apparently it’s pretty likely to happen. Don’t let the cute characters and pleasant background masterpiece artwork full you; there is some pretty gnarly shit in this show, particularly Mitty, a formerly-human blob of body parts that is functionally immortal, despite her friend Nanachi’s best efforts to put her out of her misery. You get to see, fully on screen, how this 10 year old became a puddle of skin, or basically the eldritch version of a pokemon. It’s fucked up. I honestly had to look away. Still, it’s a great adventure show filled with real peril and very, very dire consequences. My favorite character was Ozen because of how creepy she is but also I love her voice, it stands out from every other voice in the show. 10/10 must watch
Nana Maru San Batsu I have participated in quiz bowl in the past, but it was never this hardcore, yet still managed to have the elitist bullshit attitudes, so I wasn’t too sure I was going to like this one. However, Mari Fukami and Akira Sonohara kept me around. It’s rare to see a girl in a setting like this that is shown to have earnest and ambition separate from revenge; sure, she wants to redeem quiz bowl for her brother so she can play him again, but in general she just really loves it and wants to be better at it. Akira is fantastic, I empathize with them (for the sake of brevity, gender neutral pronouns will be used) on a lot of levels when it comes to games. Whenever I play canasta with my family, they just want to play to the bottom of the draw pile, which, when you want to play multiple games, can take HOURS, so I started playing where I would keep all of my cards in my hand, and then “go out” all at once to end the round. They stopped asking me to play because of it, but it sure was fun to throw a wrench into things while still “playing the game”. Also, Akira is really cute, I really loved the side ponytail wig. ANYWAY, I had low expectations, but this turned out to be pretty good, though there were some points I was skimming through. 8/10
New Game!! Anime of the season. I just can’t get enough of these ladies and their interpersonal dynamics. While things were once again switched around from the manga, it still feels very much like its right off the page, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that Shoutarou Tokunou, the creator of the manga, sat in on script meetings and even wrote the script for some episodes! Which is pretty unheard of I think. He even started bringing a tablet with the script on it to make changes to the script on the fly. I’m really torn on the ending; they just about all but said Rin and Ko are lovers, which was actually more than what happened in the manga, but didn’t pull the trigger. I also feel like Ko leaving is a hell of a cliffhanger, especially considering the anime is basically caught up to the manga already. Tokunou has said that Ko’s time in France will be included in the next volume, so maybe in a couple years there could be a third season? That’s being greedy though; it got a second season, and I was already reading the manga before the anime so continuing to read it won’t be an issue. I just love them so much. 10/10 highest recommendation
Nobunaga no Shinobi: Ise Kanegasaki-hen Continues to be one of the better short form series I’ve ever seen. The comedy is always extremely clever and the historical accounts and the sarcastic take on such revered figures is always great to see. If you are interested in the time period or Nobunaga specifically but don’t take them too seriously you should really be already watching this. 9/10
Pokemon Sun & Moon I haven’t been this into Pokemon for a LOOONG time, and it is 100% to do with this series I think. It’s just so fun and energetic, there’s no world-ending threat (yet), the kids are all just hanging out and discovering new Pokemon stuff together. Lillie is of course the show stealer, and it would be great to see her travel as a full time companion with Ash eventually, since she essentially leaves at the end of Sun/Moon games to become a Pokemon master, just like Ash. I may have missed about 400 episodes of the series, but I don’t remember ever seeing any of the companions as like an apprentice to Ash, so that would be a new take for the series to use I think. I said Lillie steals the show, but Musahi/Jessie is still my number one gal; she is outstanding in this season, and is honestly becoming one of my favorite animated characters ever. Which covers a lot of ground. I know some people are down on the character design and over-exaggerated reactions, but I think, like the Sun/Moon games did for the game series, this was the breath of fresh air that the series needed to stay relevant. Continues!
Princess Principal The finale felt really flat/anticlimactic. They are definitely planning on a second season, or some way to extend the story like a game, which hurt it in my opinion by leaving too many things open-ended. Also seemed really hackneyed to have Princess and Ange just immediately back to lovey-dovey mode, despite Princess telling Ange to never let her see her again after a pretty hardcore betrayal. A begrudging thank you from Princess after being saved and a stern re-establishment of their relationship as mutually beneficial rather than romantic (or extremely platonic) that would build back up to it’s previous height in a continued story setting seems like it would have been a better choice. Best girl was Dorothy easily, for me. She seemed the most like a spy out of the whole group, and was kind of the Dick Grayson to Ange’s Batman; for raw ability she may be a bit behind Ange, but Dorothy has the heart and the willpower to really become a legend in the game, while holding the group together. Even though the show felt like it fell on it’s face at the end, the rest of it was crazy good, especially the episode where they confront the double agent and former classmate. 8/10
Teekyuu 9 Speechless. How do you describe perfection. Mandatory viewing. 10/10
Tenshi no 3P! Despite the pedo alarm sounding on nearly a weekly basis for this show, it ended up not being too bad. It was kind of like Ryo-Kyu-Bu but if all of the girls were professional level athletes already. To be able to play like that at age 7 or 8, and “not know what to do” with it seems really silly, but it’s more of a story about dragging the protag out of his room after becoming a shut-in from bullying. I feel like in the end the protag will end up with the age appropriate older sister, but then again I thought that way with Usagi Drop and Listen to Me Girls! I am Your Father! so who knows where this will go. Not to a second season, most likely. 6/10
Tsurezure Children I’m sure many people on tumblr were aware of this series without actually know the title, so it was nice to see it make the rounds every week with a decent amount of popularity. There’s not really one couple I would pin down as my favorite, it’s all just really clever gag writing that is couple with great visuals, another great short form series. 9/10
