storytime with davy can be absolutely chaotic. davy loves to be read to, and mike loves to read to him, but it’s very hard to get little one to sit still unless hes super sleepy, and they sometimes like to read during the daytime when davy isn’t exactly tired. he’ll be focused on the story and very excited about what mike is saying, but oftentimes he’ll be wiggling all over the place and falling into mikes lap and climbing onto his shoulders and pushing his nose into mikes hair and mike has to avoid being kicked in the face or poked in the eye so he has to be like “okay but we’ve gotta sit still right?” every two minutes but it never works when davy is all wiggly.

even when davy is mostly sitting still he will interrupt mike to point something out or aggressively slap the page and pull the book close to mike’s face and be like “look mumma!!!” and mike’s like “uh huh honey, you gotta use your inside voice.” while getting a mouthful of davys hair. but then davy will flop back into mike and cuddle in deeply and maybe he’ll be grabbing mikes hands and putting them in his mouth but he’s gotten some of his energy out and is content and mike just has to give him a kiss on the head because mike will take anything because he loves the little moments they get and davy does too.

sometimes he’ll read with peter and peter will either sit across from him cross legged as he reads or push up next to him or put his head in mikes lap and just sit and mike is kind of amazed because he’s so used to trying desperately to make sure the books don’t get all ripped or trying not to get bonked in the nose. peter will be like “mike look at that :)” and point at things but never breaks any decibel levels or whatever. peter can be wiggly too but when it’s just him and mike it’s usually mutually calm for both of them.

sometimes the two boys at once can get peter riled up from davy’s energy, but sometimes peter will stick davy in his lap and rock him a bit and that’ll calm davy down because peter’s just so warm and mikes voice reading to them is so nice.

and micky will take over reading for mike at bedtime sometimes because mike tends to be exhausted by the end of the day and davy can be too much stimulation, but micky does all the silliest voices so it’s a special treat for davy.

Yes yes! Davy is the wiggliest ever! He’s just so happy to be spending time with Mike and he loves cuddles so much that he just can’t stop himself climbing all over him. Davy’s main outlet to letting his excitement out is running around but he can’t run around if Mike’s reading to him so he opts to being the wiggliest boy ever instead. A lot of the time he has to ask Mike to reread things because he somehow ended up upside down and buried in mikes armpit and didnt hear a thing. Either that or he forgot to listen in his scuffling.

He tries his best to sit still when mike asks but hes just so happy that Mike’s there with him that he wants to get as close as humanly possible!! He also worries that since Mike is reading hes not looking at the pictures so he has to point them out, if not Mike might miss something!

Something Mike does a lot to refocus him is pretend to get stuck on words. He’ll stop reading and tut and shake his head and Davy will pop up from behind him to see what’s wrong. Mike will “try” to sound out the word and then admit hes stuck so Davy has to come help him read. It makes Davy still and relatively quiet since he thinks hes helping Mike. When Davy sounds it out and tells Mike, Mike will read it and get a pat on the head. Mike will then tell him he might need some more help so Davy has to sit up and still in case. (This lasts about one sentence before Davy’s sprawled on him and everything)

Peters usually a good sport but sometimes if hes been looking forward to a story and Davy keeps distracting Mike, he’ll get a bit huffy. Usually he’ll rock Davy on his lap, but when hes huffy he’ll just sit on him. Not on his lap, just pinning him down on the couch on his stomach. Davy whines and wiggles but eventually gets comfortable. As long as some part of him is touching Mike and he can see the pictures, he settles down.

Mike has learned from the past that he needs to go to the library to laminate a lot of books and other sheets so that Davy doesn’t accidentally tear them. A lot of their books are taped together and barely hanging on.

7-week-old Frisco is just the sweetest, friendliest, most affectionate boy! Not only does he have the cutest smirk and floppy ears, but he has the wiggliest body when he's excited to see someone- he's irresistible! He may have some medical issues going on, but he does not let anything slow him down. He's a determined little fella.

Upon examination, our vets noted that Frisco, while otherwise apparently healthy, has abnormal front legs. X-rays of the limbs suggest carpus varus, so the images are being sent out for review and hopefully a treatment plan. A full medical summary can be provided upon request.

Frisco is available immediately for rescue pick-up, and due to his young age and medical concerns, we are looking to find placement for him ASAP.

CHARACTER PROFILES: LORD PHOBOS

Phobos is a goofball with a rebellious streak–always has been, probably always will be. His childhood was so stuffy and formal that he wouldn’t mind this second go-around, except… Well, he misses his family, especially his twin brother. He and Deimos were so close when they were young, that it feels strange that he’s not here now. On the bright side though, at least he has no royal rules to deal with. He has Sung and Meouch to goof off with, and he has Havve, who’s going to make everything right again. First impressions? He’s got this kid thing in the bag.

Was a member of his home planet’s nobility, but never enjoyed that life. He’s a man of science and funky grooves, not ruling and governing and etiquette. He had always wanted to leave home--he just wished it had been under better circumstances.

Had a twin brother, Deimos. The two were best friends, though their interests could not have been any more different.

Took a vow of silence after the collapse of his society to honor his people. He is physically capable of speech, but communicates only by writing or by using ASL. The others know ASL well enough to understand him without difficulty, though Sung is the only other one who knows how to sign more than a few words.

Close to 1,200 years old, but he can’t tell for sure because his planet’s calendar and Earth’s do not match up in the slightest. There’s several pages of very involved math equations pinned up on his bedroom wall dedicated to this problem.

Is the ship’s navigator, using his rocketeering prowess to determine efficient warp trajectories and keep them from getting too close to black holes.

Loves space, rocketeering, and 80′s Earth sci-fi so much that almost all of his t-shirts are space-themed. The only one that’s not is a Toronto Blue Jays shirt.

Has a pet cat named Jazzy. She is the master of naps.

What do you think that Arthur, Gwen, Morgana, Merlin and the Knight's favorite animals are?

I have been putting off this ask for a million years because this was a tough one to think through and I was intimidated. You sure know how to ask good head-scratcher questions, my friend :) But! I’m gonna face my fears and try to fathom this one out.

Morgana. Snakes. And I don’t just say that because she’s ~uwu evil~ and also a hardcore Slytherin, but just look at the series. I can think of at least three of her evil plots off the top of my head that involve snakes. Not to mention her affectionate interactions with the fomorroh. She likes snakes, no question

Arthur. Dogs. Though he often shafts the actual care of his dogs onto Merlin, he really does love them. He likes to play with them and go hunting with them. He just doesn’t like all the hard bits like cleaning and feeding them. Many times Merlin has caught him rolling around in the grass with his dogs and scratching their bellies and making baby-voice at them - only to awkwardly jump back up to his feet whenever anyone comes near and insist it never happened

Merlin. Unicorns. It’d be super easy to say he likes dragons, being a dragonlord, but I don’t think he views dragons as animals, per se. I mean, he’s basically a pseudo-father to one, and he probably thinks it would be harsh to think of his own pseudo-son as an animal. “Dragons are people too, Arthur!” No, he likes unicorns. The purity, innocence, and goodness of their presence is comforting to him. Seeing a good creature of magic helps remind him that magic doesn’t have to be evil, that Merlin doesn’t have to be the monster everyone thinks he is

Gwen. Cats. She’s the type of person who claims she “loves all animals”, but let’s be real - she’s not fooling anyone. Everyone knows she’s a cat person

Percival. Horses. Often times, you can find him at the stables, patting them down and talking to them. He talks more to the horses than he does to people. Gwaine, Elyan, and Merlin, the only people aside from the stable boys who know about this habit, suspect it’s because Percy’s shy. It’s often easier to connect with animals than people. In truth, it’s because horses remind him of his family, who used to breed them. But now they’re all dead, and some days it feels like horses are all he has left to remember them by

Gwaine. Gwaine’s not really one to have a favourite animal. He’s pretty indifferent, for the most part. But he can tell you what his least favourite animal is: birds. Birds seem to have it out for him, always crapping on his stuff. Yeah, well, screw birds

TO BE KILLED - 5/23/2019 Wapo is a tiny boy, who is much too thin, has old scars and callusses on his legs and needs lots of TLC ! Wapo came into the shelter trembling, but he puts his best paw forward - warming up to the staff and his volunteers, wagging his tail a little and trying to make the best of it. Wapo has been surrendered by an owner who obviously did not care properly for him, he was not even fed enough. In the shelter he is whining, when he sees a doggy friend - probably he would love to spend some time with every 4 legged buddy he sees. Please share little Wapo for the safe, loving home he deserves - with parents that actually care! A volunteer writes: I don't know if it's that sweet little face, those gentle brown eyes, or all the wiggling that goes on when I pet him, but I just find it so darn hard to pull myself away from Wapo. He can be a bit shy with new people, but don't worry, that doesn't last long and before you know it, you'll be part of his growing circle of friends. Wapo initially fixates on the greeter’s rear end before soliciting play. When the greeter corrects him, he walks away for a few minutes. Further, into his session, he returns to engage in play and backs away when he is overcorrected. 5/18: Wapo engaged in bouts of play, and can be a bit persistent; constantly paw slapping. He leans and lowers himself to the floor when the other dog does the same. 5/19: WaPo was introduced to a novel neutered male today. He greets the male with a wiggly body, but quickly overwhelms the other male with his high energy and paw slaps. 5/20: Wapo greets a novel female with a soft body and wanders the yard. It is advised that the new adopters should be able to exercise appropriate and safe management when handling Wapo, allowing him to acclimate and decompress at his own pace. Force-free, reward-based training only is advised, as well as utilizing guidance from a qualified, professional trainer/behaviorist. The wiggliest, sweetest, boy with what they say is the most “earnest face.” The belly rub kid – GASTON! He was abandoned in a commercial building in a crate, and that is where he stayed, trapped, for weeks! No food, no water, getting thinner and thinner, and losing hope. If Gaston was initially scared and barking in that horrible cage upon intake, he can be forgiven. We can’t imagine how out of it he must have been – emaciated, with pressure sores, his fur a mess, dehydrated and sore from sitting in his own feces and urine. But oh what a difference once he was set free! Wiggles all around, affectionate and rolling for belly rubs. Abandoned on the streets in August, still he was friendly when Officers approached him. And at the shelter he's been every much the gentlemen - friendly, calm, tail waggy, taking treats, and allowing all handling. Then he waited to be the 'chosen one' as adopters passed him by day after day. Until she came, his new ACC foster. He proudly trotted out the front door, his heart was full - for a while. Returned after 6 weeks due to a roommate conflict. And what did ACC do? Threw Dinero on the kill list and rated him rescue only. So he waits again, but this time he will either leave with a new family or in a body bag.
