Peter used to be the tallest of the four, until Susan turned fourteen and shot up to six feet— one inch taller than him. It earned him weeks of teasing from his three little shits until he hit sixteen and and shot up half a foot, reaching an astounding six feet four inches. This was in the middle of a campaign against the Raiders of Korentha, and even he did not realise he had grown until he returned home from war and suddenly he had to tilt his head down to look at Susan. Susan sulked for days, and was only appeased when Peter gifted her a beautiful pair of high heels. Peter likes being tall, even though he's not as tall as a Centaur— Susan likes his bear hugs, and he gets to make fun of the younger ones for being tiny squirts. Lucy regularly climbs him like a jungle gym until she hits her own growth spurt.

Susan cut an imposing figure at 15, with wide shoulders and a slender torso, standing at an impressive 6 feet even without her famous heels. She hated it at first— girls from England were short, much shorter than her, and so were many of the men. She always felt a little self conscious in a crowd because of how she towered over the average human. In Narnia, however, it was different. Druids and Naiads and Dryads regularly reached six feet, and centaurs were rarely shorter than seven. Fauns were short, but Bears stood on their hind legs and towered over her only to hand out the warmest hugs Susan had ever experienced apart from Peter's. Secretly though, no matter how much she teased Peter about being shorter than her, she was glad when he grew taller than her. (His hugs aren't as comforting if you're taller than him, alright?)

Halfway through Edmund's fifteenth year of existence, he was both shocked and pleased to find out he did not need to tilt his head back to look at Peter anymore. Peter was 18 and a giant, bear-like warrior king, his furs and long braids and armour making him look even larger, and Edmund was a lanky teenager with remnants of baby fat still on his cheeks and wiry muscle wrapped around thin bones— both of them were the same height, but Edmund looked boyish where Peter looked manly. It took him till he was in his early twenties to match Peter's bulk, but he stayed as tall as Peter for the rest of his life, not an inch here or there. (and Peter thanks the Fates for that. He doesnt know if he could withstand the amount of heckling that would come with being shorter than his brother.)

Lucy was the shortest of them her entire life. Until she was 14, she was about 5ft 4 inches, at which point she started growing like a weed and stopped at the very admirable height of five feet ten inches— just two inches short of Susan's height. It infuriated her to no end; being shorter than everyone was annoying, and even more so when you weren't actually short at all, just shorter than your siblings. At 5'10, she towered over many Narnian species as well as her classmates when she returned to England and went through puberty a second time, but she loved it. She loved being taller, loved that she was only shorter than her siblings— they may annoy her by teasing her about their heights, but being smaller meant the hugs were better, and really, why would she give up on a chance to climb Peter like a monkey so she could sit on his shoulders? No, Su, she doesn't care that it looks uncouth.

The opposite personality buddy’s are amazing and that leads me to wonder if you could do Ultra Magnus with a sparkling buddy who has a opposite personality as him? Like him dealing with his sparkling looking up to wheeljack a lot and having a slight crush in him, buddy did arrive on earth with Magnus.

YEEEEE! I love making these Buddy's! Should I do more for the future?

Also Buddy is going to have more of an Uncle/niece relationship than a romantic one.

Magnus first met Buddy as a sparkling.

She was so tiny back then.

He had been walking back to his home after a long day with Optimus Prime

With a war looming over everyone’s helm their talks and teachings were becoming more and more frequent.

Today though, he found a rather large box in front of his door.

Magnus inching cautiously toward the box.

He carefully opens the lid.

A small sparkling looks at him.

“A sparkling?”--Magnus

The sparkling starts crying.

“Wait no! don’t cry!”--Magnus

Magnus quickly grabs the sparkling trying to calm them down.

The sparkling immediately stops crying and places her servos on his faceplate.

“So that’s you started crying, little one?”--Magnus

Sparkling giggles and just pats him face.

“No…do not make that face. You are going to go to the sparkling unit—”--Magnus

The sparkling yawns and cuddles close to his spark and falsl dead asleep.

“…Great…What would Optimus do?”--Magnus

“Keep her.”--Optimus

Magnus jumps at the sound of his mentor’s voice.

“Sir!? What are you doing here?”--Magnus

“You forgot your data pad. And it looks like you’ve met someone new. Does she have a name?”--Optimus

“…I am not sure—”--Magnus

Both mechs notice a small data pad in the box

It says Buddy.

“I believe that is their designation. Buddy?”--Magnus

The sparkling churns a bit cuddling closer.

It was definitely a big adjustment for Magnus, but he did his best to set aside time for the sparkling throughout the day and at night.

Especially when finding out that this sparkling was rather energetic and had a bad habit of sneaking off.

Magnus is trying to find Buddy in his office.

Ratchet walks in with Optimus.

“Ultra Magnus?”—Optimus

Magnus is still turning over office supplies and chairs.

“Optimus, Ratchet… it’s been 2 hours, 45 minutes, 35 seconds and 52 nano clicks! I can’t find Buddy!”--Magnus

“Umm…”—Rachet

“She should be in this room. It was locked and…and…”--Magnus

“Magnus—”--Ratchet

“Wait! The Wrecker’s might know where she could be hiding. Thank you both for the help.”--Magnus

Magnus begins to walk out of the room.

Optimus and Ratchet watch Buddy cling onto Magnus shoulders while waving good-bye.

“…”--Optimus

“…Should we tell him?”--Ratchet

“…Not now.”--Optimus

Soon enough the war had finally broken out.

Now a new set of obstacles presented themselves.

Babysitting.

He had much more work to do with being Prime’s lieutenant.

And someone needed to keep tabs on his rather energetic sparkling running around everything.

She was too tiny and kept on hiding in places she knew she should not have been hiding.

Magnus talked with Ratchet about Buddy’s growth.

She should have been much bigger by this age, but she was still too small.

“This is something natural Magnus.”--Ratchet

“In all, she is just going to be growing slower or if my theory is correct, she should have an immediate growth spurt soon.”--Ratchet

“How big do you think she will get?”--Magnus

“I am not entirely sure Magnus. At least average height, if anything else, she could be a minibot.”--Ratchet

“Hmm.”--Magnus

“Magnus.”--Ratchet

“Ratchet?”--Magnus

“Where’s Buddy?”--Ratchet

Buddy is no longer sitting on the med slab.

“…”—Magnus and Ratchet

Concern truck and siren noises intensify.

As for babysitters, Prime had offered to look after Buddy many times for Magnus. Which he didn’t mind too much as he trusted the Prime, despite being a bit embarrassed. Buddy was a completely different baby when she was around Prime.

A lot quieter.

She kept him on his pedes every now and then, trying to run and jump off of everywhere.

Ratchet was another babysitter for Buddy.

She made sure the medical cabinets were locked with three locks.

She always figures out the locks with sweets or shiny tools.

She was still tiny and could hide in some of the best places.

This was all while the sparkling could crawl.

She had just learned how to properly walk by herself when Magnus became in charge of the Wrecker’s.

Buddy was now a little menace on two pedes with wheels.

Nothing was stopping her and her energetic moods.

Many Wreckers found themselves looking after the little one during more peaceful moments while Magnus was away.

Magnus walks into the room to find the wreckers tossing Buddy in the air like a ball.

Magnus nearly has a spark attack.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”--Magnus

“We didn’t have a ball for lobbing so we’re using Buddy. She seems to like it.”--Wheeljack

Buddy giggling as she is tossed in the air again.

“Again! Again!”--Buddy

“No, not again!”--Magnus

Buddy looks at Wheeljack.

“Uncle Jackie?”—Buddy

There was one bot in the entire squad he wished Buddy hadn’t formed an attachment with…

Wheeljack.

Wheeljack had the chaotic energy that nearly matched Buddy’s.

Those two were almost always seen together when there were no fights for the day.

Buddy always wanted to go with Uncle Jackie.

Wheeljack was definitely an instigator and encouraged many of Buddy’s little gremlin habits.

Magnus walking in on Wheeljack giving Buddy a dagger.

“What are you doing!?”--Magnus

“Giving her a dagger?”

Magnus grabs the dagger from her servos despite her whines.

“She shouldn’t have this yet.”--Magnus

“All right, all right.”--Wheeljack

Loud yelling gets Magnus’s attention and moves out.

Wheeljack snickered and looked over at Buddy, who had a cheeky little grin.

She pulls out a small blaster from one of her subspaces.

“Now kid, what do we do with blaster?”--Wheeljack

“We, umm, don’t point them at nice bots faces.”--Buddy

“And?”--Wheeljack

“We shoot Con’s kneecaps off?”--Buddy

“And?”--Wheeljack

“If Father finds out, I found it on the floor while I was left unsupervised?”--Buddy

Wheeljack pats Buddy on the helm with a wide smile.

“Yep! Just like that.”--Wheljack

Buddy hugs Wheeljack’s pede.

“Thank you, Uncle Jackie!”

Wheeljack just pats her helm affectionately.

“Anytime kiddo. Anytime.”--Wheeljack

Wheeljack left one night and never came back to the Wrecker unit.

Buddy thought that something bad had happened to him.

She wasn’t convinced that he would just leave her like that.

Uncle Jackie wouldn’t do that.

…right?

A week later she decided to go look for him.

Wheeljack always said to never leave your friends behind, well, she wasn’t going to leave him behind.

She boarded a ship in the middle of the night and tried getting close to the controls when a loud bomb sound shook the ground making her fall into an empty crate.

A bomb had hit the Wrecker’s base.

Magnus was scrambling trying to get everyone out of the fiery inferno.

He quickly realized the direction where the bomb had detonated.

The area where the bomb had been set off was around her sleeping quarters.

There was nothing but rubble and melted metal.

No one could have survived that blast…

A couple of Wrecker’s managed to get him on the ship before they left for another.

He flew away from Cybertron on that ship.

He started to cry when he was far enough from orbit.

Most of his team had dispersed and now Buddy…Buddy was…

He set the ship on autopilot and let out a gut-wrenching sob.

Some boxes move near the cargo hold.

Magnus stops his sobs and looks at the box that was moving around.

The box opens up with Buddy kicking the lid off, climbing out of the box and laying on the floor.

“Buddy…?”--Magnus

Buddy looks at Magnus.

“Hi! Sorry I woke you up. I got caught inside the box—”--Buddy

Magnus jumps to his pedes and slides across the floor and hugs Buddy like his life depended on it.

“…Father? What happened?”--Buddy

That was the first time Buddy had seen her father sob so hard as he hugged her tight.

They spent the rest of that night in each other’s arms sobbing for their ruined home and out of relief they were okay for now.

Buddy’s growth spurt happened while they were looking for any other Autobots in space.

And it hit fast.

One deca cycle she was around the height of his knee.

The next thing he knew she was now taller and bulkier than him.

She was still so young too…

“How is this even possible?!”--Buddy

“I do not know.”--Magnus

“I don’t want to keep getting bigger!”--Buddy

“That is something we cannot control.”--Magnus

“Yeah, I think I can tell…”--Buddy

When they received the signal from Earth, they followed it.

Arcee was happy to see Magnus again but didn’t recognize the larger bot next to him.

“Ultra Magnus sir.”--Arcee

“At ease soldier.”--Magnus

Arcee looks over at the taller bot who is just waving.

“Hi Arcee!”--Buddy

“Hi…?”--Arcee

Magnus looks at Buddy who just looks at his back before turning to Arcee.

“You probably don’t remember me after all these years. I’m Buddy.”--Buddy

Arcee’s optics widen a lot.

“Buddy?! But how?!”--Arcee

Buddy chuckles a bit.

“I guess I finally grew up, didn’t I?”--Buddy

“What’s going on?”--Jack

Buddy and Magnus look at Jack.

“Is this one of the native life forms of this planet?”--Buddy

Buddy moves towards Jack, kneels down and gently pats his head.

“So small…”--Buddy

After Team Prime finally has their reunion.

Buddy waves at Optimus who is roughly around the same height as her.

“Hi Optimus!”--Buddy

“… Hello Buddy.”--Optimus

Buddy smiles.

Optimus gives both Magnus and Ratchet a look saying ‘Primus-she-was-the-size-of-my-servo-when-I-last-saw-her!’

Both look at him with a ‘I-know!’ look.

Buddy was excited to meet other bots around her age.

Bee and Smokescreen have now become big brothers.

Well, older brothers…

Buddy likes to tease them a bit on size, but in a good-natured way.

She knows how hard life was being too small to do anything.

Buddy is very excited to meet Bulkhead, knowing stories from Wheeljack.

Bulkhead is just happy Jackie had someone that ‘looked’ after him too.

Buddy reminds Bulkhead too much like Wheeljack which still confuses him.

How could Buddy, who was clearly Wrecker material have such a strict rule based father like Ultra Magnus?

When the kids found out about Buddy they were just happy to meet a new member of the team.

“Buddy these are the kids. You’ve already met Jack.”--Bulkhead

But he loves his daughter, so it isn’t all too bad.

When Buddy gets told that Wheeljack is on Earth, she is angry.

Her angry came at two ways.

It could be acting exactly like her father.

Or two, her personal favorite.

Judo flipping the mech.

That’s what she did the second she saw the white mech.

Buddy clenching her servos and glaring at Wheeljack as he greets everyone.

He walks up to Buddy.

“And who might you be? Don’t tell me—”--Wheeljack

Buddy swiftly grabs Wheeljack and flips him onto his back with a loud bang!

When you were a child, your height seemed to you the most ordinary, but you have grown older and your height has changed little. A lot of people your age were at least two inches taller than you, or even more, but when you met Jason, you were shocked to say the least. He was almost nineteen inches taller than you, and it was a very noticeable difference for you

Previously, when you needed to get something from the top shelf, you had to take a chair and stand on it, but when Jason became a part of your life, this was no longer necessary. He got things from the topmost shelves without any problems, and if you needed to wipe the dust, he picked you up, trying to be as careful as possible so as not to drop you

Mom always taught Jason that you need to be polite and attentive, especially towards someone you liked. Jason has always been careful with you. He understood that next to him you looked very short and deep down it seemed nice to him, even though your height difference was accompanied by some difficulties

Jason liked holding your hand. Your palm seemed tiny in his. Every time he hugged you, he tried to be careful. He understood that if he overdid it, you could get hurt or die. He could have broken your bones, but he didn't want that. You were dear to him and the last thing he wanted was for you to be hurt

Despite your height difference, you got along well together. Jason used to bend over when you wanted to kiss his cheek, even though you still had to stand on your toes to reach his cheek. He helped you and you took care of him. Together, such a thing as growth seemed to be only an insignificant figure that meant little

What do you picture the Shepard fams heights to be in comparison to the Curtis Brothers??

In my head, Tim is a really lanky, skinny guy, so he's around Darry's height, maybe and inch or two taller but not nearly as well built.

In my personal headcanons, Curly and Angela are both really tiny for their age, partly because they were malnourished during critical growth phases in childhood, and because they're twins who were born premature. Now, we know ponyboy isn't the tallest guy around either, but I still think he's a good three or four inches taller than Curly (and I think Curly likes it even if he pretends he doesn't). Angela is maybe two inches shorter than Curly, and almost waifish in build, even though she eats properly now as much as she can, she (and Curly, but it shows more on her) never really lost the half starved look, so she's a tiny and wiry. When I write outsider POVs of her, i try and use language that makes her seem delicate from first glance until you see her eyes.

The Little Spoon 2

Good heck. It's been like 10 years between updates. Part 1 was one of the earliest one shots I ever wrote, but recent ask prompts gave me inspiration for a fun way to continue the story.

Experiments with the shrinking potion have left Caleb decidedly short, but he's not too tiny to get by in daily life... yet. The couple aren't quite ready to take that plunge, but Felipe has an idea for how they can still have their fun without Caleb needing to shrink.

[First Chapter]

               Things had taken an interesting turn for Caleb and Felipe ever since their first experiment with the shrinking potion. After Caleb had grown back, he realized he now stood a solid six feet tall. An impressive size by most standard, but a full three inches shorter than he had been the day before.

               The thought of being smaller excited Caleb to no end. With another couple of doses, he would someday be permanently shorter than his boyfriend, Felipe! The sheer thought of which made Caleb incredibly excited. Sure, it would be weird to explain to his coworkers, but if they spaced things out enough, no one would worry.

               That was the plan anyway, but a few months later, Caleb and Felipe had another night of fun with the shrinking potion. This time, when Caleb grew back, he stood only five foot six! He had lost six whole inches! That was double what had happened the last time! Caleb was now almost as short as his “little lover”… almost.  

               Felipe was as confused as Caleb. He had no idea why the shrinkage had been so intense this time. To make matters worse, Caleb’s shrinkage had been so intense that he couldn’t gaslight his coworkers into thinking he had always been that tall. Dropping from 6’3 to 6’ was easy. Few people were that tall. He still appeared “large” to everyone, but when he got back to the office that following Monday, he was clearly average height.

               Rumors abounded. Most people assumed he had some sort of health issue. Every day at the office he was greeted with sympathy for his diminished size and deteriorating health. It was strange. Caleb was still average height, but people treated him like he was so small. Every comment about his reduced size drove him wild. Every time the taller guys at the office tried to help him get something down from the top shelf got Caleb incredibly hot under the collar. He found himself more and more craving another dose. He wanted to get smaller. He didn’t want to just be average, he wanted to be tiny! One more dose was all it would take. Just one more and he’d be even shorter than his petite boyfriend.

               It had taken a lot of convincing to get Felipe to agree, but eventually he did. Felipe never was able to resist when Caleb really turned up the charm. A few pairs of puppy dog eyes later, and the couple found themselves once more having a size shifting night of bedroom fun.

               This time, when Caleb grew back, he was only 4’6! He had lost a full foot of height! Caleb had wanted to be shorter than his boyfriend, but now Caleb only reached up to Felipe’s shoulders. Caleb was now eye level with Felipe’s toned chest.

               Caleb was no longer average. He was no longer even just short. He was child-sized! He was as small as he had been back in middle school! Yet, despite how worried he knew he should be, he was ecstatic. He loved being so small and couldn’t help but daydream about getting even smaller. Every comment his coworkers made about his height, every time Caleb needed to climb on a chair to get coffee in the morning, every time Felipe snuck up behind him and wrapped Caleb in a hug while resting his chin atop Calebs head, every time Caleb’s toe caught the lip of the step as he got onto the bus reminded him of how much he had shrunk.

               It was maddening. Caleb wanted to get smaller with every fiber of his being, but he knew that the next shrinkage would change everything for him. Even though they had waited months between the last two potions, the amount Caleb shrunk had still doubled. The effects didn’t seem to diminish with time. The next time he shrunk he might end up less than three feet tall! That was kindergartener sized! How would he get around at the size? Would he be able to keep doing his job?

               As the months went on, the debate still raged within Caleb’s head and within their household. When Caleb got so small that he could no longer work, would they be able to live off of Felipe’s wages? They wouldn’t need as much space, and they could move away from downtown. Get a small, cheaper place close to the shop that Felipe worked. Caleb wouldn’t need much space. He wouldn’t even need much room. Once he got small enough, he wouldn’t even count as another mouth to feed!

               Felipe had to admit that Caleb made some good points. Caleb always seemed so happy now that he was smaller, and Felipe couldn’t deny how much he liked having a boyfriend who was smaller than he was. Felipe also wanted to see Caleb get even smaller, but he didn’t understand the potions well enough. He needed more time. He needed more experimentation. That was why he had suggested the two of them spend a quiet weekend out in the country.

               The camping trip started out pretty normally. While Caleb assembled their tent, Felipe started a fire and made some hot cocoa, but one of the two mugs had a little something special.

               “So, tell me, how was work today?” Felipe asked. He sipped at his cocoa and struggled to hide his smirk.

               “The same as always. We got a new client, and I had to meet with them for a bit. I can’t tell you how glad I was that I was able to get out at three. I think I would have gone mad if I had to do the old grip and grin until six,” Caleb said.  

               “I thought you liked your job,” Felipe said sympathetically.

               “I do… most of the time. My coworkers are great, but I hate having to put on a face for new clients. It feels so fake. I’d rather just stay back and do the numbers part,” Caleb explained.

“Yeah. And you’re great at it too. Have you asked your boss about what we talked about? You know… working from home?” Felipe asked.

               “I’ve mentioned it a few times. It’s uh… I’ll be honest. I don’t like acting like what’s happened is a disease. This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me… well… You’re the best thing that ever happened to be, and this is partially also you so… you get what I mean.” Caleb mumbled awkwardly.

               “You don’t have to worry. I know what you meant,” Felip said with a laugh.

               “Yeah. I know. But how do I tell the boss that I might someday be too small to work from the office?” Caleb asked.

               “Just be honest with him,” Felipe said.

               “Hey, boss. I’m thinking of shrinking again. Is that cool with you all?” Caleb said as if acting out his meeting with the boss. His delivery was so cheesy that Felipe half expected to hear a canned laugh track along with it.

               “Not that honest...” Felipe said with a groan and an eyeroll.

               “How would you do it?” Caleb asked.

               “Maybe something Truth Adjacent… like ‘I think I might shrink some more’,” Felipe said.

               “That still feels shifty…” Caleb replied.

               “Well, if we want to take things to the next step, we’ll need to do something about your job. I think you’d be happier if you can still keep working,” Felipe said.

               “You know. It’s weird to hear you talk like this. I would have thought you’d be pushing for me to keep my size,” Caleb replied.

               “Honey, I gave up on talking you out of this a looong time ago,” Felipe said with a laugh. “Now, I just want to help you fulfil your dream in a way that doesn’t make you give up everything else.”

               “I knew I loved you for a reason,” Caleb said. He moved in closer to Felipe and went in for a hug and a kiss, but Felipe raised a hand to stop him. Caleb was momentarily taken aback, but he watched questioningly as Felipe chugged the rest of his cocoa.

               “Alright. Kiss me, big boy!” Felipe said after slamming back the rest of his mug.

               “Shouldn’t I be calling you Big Boy?” Caleb asked.

               “Oh, if only you knew,” Felipe replied with a chuckle and sly wink.

               Caleb didn’t have time to ask for clarification. Felipe grabbed the front of Caleb’s shirt and effortlessly pulled the smaller guy in for a passionate kiss.

In my opinion, I'd agree with you and say: Hunk's the tallest. Shiro's probably an inch or two shorter than Hunk because Hunk still had time to grow, the paladins were all around 18 and 17 when they got into space and obviously, Keith got a growth spurt (even if it was the Galra genes). I would've loved the idea of the paladins resembling their lions but I also agree with you on that fact too. Whilst Shiro was the tallest when they first started, I think Hunk passed him after a year or so by like an inch. The order for me would be (and I'm including everyone in the main team here): - Hunk, Shiro, Coran, Lance, Allura, Keith, Pidge. (Before Keith went with BoM) - Hunk, Shiro, Coran, Keith, Lance, Allura, Pidge. (After Keith joined back) Hunk and Shiro have already been explained, but I just want to justify Klance's heights. Lance, we know is taller than Keith (at the start) by around one or two inches, but after the BoM change, Keith grew to be a bit more of Lance's height. I'd say now, they're around the same height. Allura, I was so conflicted on, because in the show, she bends down to hug BoM Keith but goes on her tip-toes for Lance even though they are like.. almost the same height. Voltron is weird with perspectives, but I can honestly think that if Keith matched Lance now, Allura would have to be shorter too (by a few inches, again). And Pidge is just the shortest.

And I don't think Draxum reaaalllyyy anticipated the turtles not growing to a more human height. In his defense this was basically the first time he used live human DNA during the mutation process. How was he supposed to know that the animal's height would take priority over the human's height?

All things considered, he looks fine otherwise. I'm more than likely overreacting over this so idk it kind of feels dumb to outright admit he appears fine otherwise

hes not wilting, in fact hes standing as tall as he did ever (as a mini happy update hes now surpassed 2 feet in height! his tallest growth reaches 25 inches above soil!)

theres only a tiny handful of leaves that are curled into themselves, like 1 or 2 leaves iirc. but those were already like that prior to the spots, not all of his leaves recovered from when he got stressed out from getting rootbound (caught fairly early although he was stuck in his old smaller pot for a few days longer than i would have liked), but asides from the 2 leaves and one branch that wouldnt recover, hes bounced back from that fully

as for watering, i havent watered him since ive brought him inside. not because i forgot but because i watered him the day before i noticed the spots, and his soil still hasnt fully dried out- not ready for another watering yk? but ill report on that when it is time, might be another day or two- maybe three

he does have some leaves that are yellowing at the tips but those are old, and i think its just because i keep forgetting to adjust and rotate leo in the light + on top of that the leaves that do have yellowed tips are lower and obscured by other branches and leaves- blocked out

additional stuff: i havent given him any plant food (outside of whats in his potting mix) since late june- i did have plans to give him another round within a few months though. the potting soil he has does seem to have some stuff in it, so technically he was partly fed at the beginning of the month when he was put in his new pot but tbf i dont know how far a few handfuls of soil would go since he just needed enough to fill the rest of his pot

he did have some of his upper roots exposed for a while, with a thin layer of soil covering them. soil would be moved aside when he got watered however that was fixed this past weekend- we had run out of potting soil when we were moving him and couldnt get more until recently... so maybe its a sign of stress?? but ive never read anything about spots forming on leaves when a trees stressed but tbf leos my first plant ever and im no professional and im learning as i go

uuuuuh trying to think of anything else note worthy about his overall health and care

he hasnt been pruned in a while save for snipping a branch off as mentioned before- he is overdue for a pruning its just a matter of figuring out what to cut off and what to keep... ive heard citrus trees are some of the most forgiving with pruning when it comes to fruit trees but tbh i havent fact checked that yet- but that doesnt make me any less nervous... have been making sure to cut at the collars through... and of course, with washed and disinfected tools

the one time i used any product asides coffee ground water and eggshell tea and his food, is neem oil however i used that as a soil soak in... i think may? and he was just fine so i doubt its that

His human friends are baffled that he still considers himself short but he just can't wrap his head around the idea that he's actually tall for a human. I was considering more on Yuki and a possible, interesting direction to take.

So, I already know I want a sort of fun, running joke about how strangers would think she's an adult but spend more than 5 minutes with her in a casual setting and it's really obvious she's not. Like, she can only act professional and aloof for so long.

Originally, I wanted it to be because of her vocal talents. And I still want that!

But I was thinking about a physiology centered around ice and how that would effect her. Like, she probably doesn't usually eat a lot, not does she have a lot of... Waste. She likely doesn't sweat naturally, and getting sick is a lot harder than you'd think cause not a lot of viruses thrive in freezer temps.

She probably also has difficulty crying at colder temps, her normal resting temp being just a tad hard to cry with comfortably. Her body fluid isn't totally frozen after all, her blood and whatnot having... Sort of antifreeze properties?

I already knew that I wanted her to have accelerated healing with access to clean water, as her body can convert that naturally to cells. Her mom is able to reattach limbs with just a splash of water, though sensation and function take a bit to properly come back. Yuki never has a reason to try, but she can also do it.

Anyway, I thought this would also effect growth! Like, she just grows at a very slow rate. Physically at least. Needing to be just... A bit warmer to grow at a steady rate. Luckily she's quite hardy all over, including hair and nails. Bathing in (relative to her) warm water helps her hair and nails grow at a sustainable rate at least.

But, at certain stages her quirk just gets stronger. Usually before growth stages. Like, her quirk gets stronger so now her body has to too.

And the problem is that she hasn't let her body grow appropriately in a few years. Assuming I put her at like, 14, she hasn't grown an inch since she was almost 10. Not a dramatic amount of growth missed (or rather delayed) but enough that's it's noticable on comparison.

To actually, properly do so, she has to literally, slowly, warm her body up to approaching natural internal body temperature. During this time, she basically speed runs a growth spurt. Which is at best uncomfortable but doable with careful oversight, plenty of food (all those vitamins, minerals, and protein to help facilitate growth). Her mom did this a few times by basically shutting herself in her apartment and slowly increasing the temperature of her bath and apartment. The hardest part is not using their quirk to recool themselves, as it defeats the purpose despite providing immediate relief.

Okay, so with all that in mind, during the start of the story she's about 4' 5"~? Which is definitely not adult size. Unless she pretends to be a dwarf, and wears a hood or something to cover her ears, which is what she does. Safer that way during travel too.

She's been nervous about "thawing out" for a long time, putting it off over and over again despite the growing difficulty controlling her quirk.

No idea when she makes the leap, as I havent finished Veilguard yet, but she is very embarrassed to have to bring it up. Finally coming to terms with how dangerous it is to keep putting it off and how hard it is to do all this dangerous stuff with a firmly prepubescent body.

She's got a lot of hang ups, mostly childish concern that if her parents did finally reach her they wouldn't recognize her anymore. Fun stuff like that. But she can't keep endangering her friends just so she can stay small.

Would be very funny if her full height is absolutely from her dad, a full blooded Japanese man, so she's still dainty and tiny with just a bit of that Russian pizzaz thrown in for a full figure or something.

Anyway!

Emmrich is at first super supportive and fascinated by the implications, offering to be by her side if she wants as support during what is bound to be an emotional time. And then he realizes, through her blushing and stuttering, that to her best recollection it requires soaking in the bath. At least, that's part of how her mom did it, and likely the safest considering she'd get jumped by dark spawn if she traipsed into the desert to warm up relentlessly.

He's old and dad coded, but he's not so blind to miss the obvious embarrassment of youth. Politely and sheepishly, he offers to support her in other ways during her "period of extraordinary growth".

Davrin probably clocks the implication quicker and asks if necromancers are really so desensitized to the naked body he doesn't think that's weird to offer a young girl. Almost warningly. Lucanis agreeing softly with a narrowed look. Like, answer carefully, old man.

Harding, Bellara, and Neve offer more involved support if she wants it, with Tash offering to guard the door if it helps her feel better. Davrin suggesting Assan could keep her company if she likes.

Yuki is super touched and appreciative, aware it's a lot to ask considering she has no idea how long it'll take. It's better to go slow, after all, considering her literal bones will be growing and everything else to accommodate it.

In the end it takes a few, tense days. Yuki purposefully overeats for prep and commandeering the bathing room for the time being. Caretaker is helpful in walking through adjusting the water temperatures at a slow pace so she doesn't risk scalding herself. The girls visiting off and on, not wanting to crowd given how... Emotional the whole thing quickly proves to be for Yuki. Normally she's more even keeled, but with her hormones finally running free it's... Interesting.

Taking breaks in and out of the bath, slowly bringing the ambient room temp up to almost 70F~? It's pretty chill for anyone else, but this is basically sauna for her. She eats a lot, talks when she can, and mostly just tries to ride it out until she feels her body settling. Her mom did talk her through the process, after all, so she could make an informed decision when she was ready.

She stumbles out in the same night gown she went in with, this time not quite so oversized. Having grown about half a foot or so over only a few days and somewhat underweight. Her appetite and emotional state somewhat frazzled as she (very. Very. Slowly) brings her core temp back down to normal to prevent any injuries. She's weak and clumsy for a while, but soon enough she's back to (mostly) normal and nearly able to pass for an adult with some work.

Everyone is thrilled to see her doing well, if not a bit distressed at how ravenous she suddenly is, and how quickly she cries for a while. She does not go to Minrathus until she's chilled out properly. She already burst into tears about Lucanis never seeing his grandmother after finally being freed. How badly Spite must want freedom but can't have it out of fear of what he'll do to those around him. And how cute Assan is, how sad it is that he's alone, and how hard Davrin is trying to raise him. The loss of Varric. Harding having to soldier on with her weird magic and how uncertain it must be to be the only one (like Yuki is). Neve and her home. Her now healed injury. Bellara and her brother, how hard she works, and how nice she is all the time. How nice Emmrich is and cool he is. How honest Tash is and her whole thing with her mom.

Basically, Yuki has feelings. And a lot of them.

Even as emotionally stunted as most of them are, they usually give in and give her a hug when she gets overwhelmed. Quite used to how chilly she is, just happy when she finally calms down.

The one time they had to go out and deal with Venatori in Minrathus, Yuki had a meltdown of epic proportions and it did not end well for the cultists. Plus side? They started making themselves sparse for a while after that, much to the Shadow Dragon's relief.

Yuki refuses to talk about the things she did with her ice on that outing.

It becomes clear after that, that her quirk had grown exponentially stronger with her recent growth spurt.

God bless that music room, it was about the only place she consistently chilled out while playing music.

I like to imagine a group sleepover after her meltdown. In the new and improved secret hideout of the Shadow Dragons. Viper is very impressed and sympathetic to the woes of teenage rage. Teia is disappointed she didn't get to witness it, to which Spite helpfully adds.

Lucanis shudders, remembering seeing it first hand. He's a hardened assassin but... It's a bit much to see someone's eyeballs erupt into ice shards in an instant, only to be followed shortly after by dense muscle ripping to shreds on thick slices of ice as they froze from the bone out.

in his human form, jake is 5'9 (now checking the fandom wiki). in his avatar, he's 8'11. doing the math, the rate of proportion is 1.55072464 so I'll just use 1.55 to apply to everyone else
