Tom Holland's acting in No Way Home is some of his best work! I love the movie for everything it offers, but I believe Tom is underrated and underestimated. I honestly believe the acting in Aunt May's death scene alone is some of the best acting we've ever seen in the MCU!

I know everyone is wondering if Andrew is in Spiderman: NWH, but can we please talk about the amazing movie he was just in recently?
Tick Tick Boom is phenomenal. Andrew trained his voice for months to be able to sing.
And he went from not being able to sing at all, to being GREAT at singing. And dancing. And playing the piano.
It’s a movie made in honor of Jonathan Larson. The creator of Rent and the original Tick Tick Boom. And it’s done so well. It’s funny, emotional, entertaining, and more.
Please watch it. And give Andrew all the credit he deserves.
#in his interviews for Tick Tick Boom people can’t not talks bout spiderman. and I understand. i’ve barely seen anyone talk about the scene where tobey stopped tom from killing norman. like . the look in his eyes. the way he was actually like forcefully stopping tom. it was so chilling. like there was a silent conversation going on there and it gave me goosebumps because it is such a big brother moment. so beautifully done. just haven’t seen anyone hype up tobey’s acting. it was phenomenal in this scene
tobey!peter stopping tom!peter from killing norman was just as important of a scene as andrew!peter catching mj. like, think about it. tobey!peter was seventeen when his uncle ben died because of a choice he made. he ran down the killer (dennis carradine), wanting him dead, and when dennis falls out of the building it doesn't change anything. it doesn't make peter feel better. his uncle is dead, and another man is dead. bc of him (or at least how he perceives it). tom!peter is the same age--seventeen-- and he just watched his aunt die bc of his actions. his choices. tobey!peter knows what its like to want to exact revenge, to make someone hurt as much as you hurt, but he also knew it doesn't help anything. it doesn't bring them back. and tobey maguire did an incredibly job of portraying that level of emotion without even speaking (btw I just want to go on record and say nwh proved tobey!peter is the most physically strong peter of the 3)

when/if you've watched no way home and are willing to share, i would LOVE to hear your thoughts about it
PLS THE NEW SPIDERMAN CAME OUT COME BACK TO THW FANDOM WE NEED U ITS SO GOOD AHHHHH (it's okay if u don't lol just whenever I think of spiderman I immediately think of u lol and thIS MOVIE IS LITERALLY JUST UR FICS I LOVE IT)
so thoughts on nwh?
Thank you all for asking lol
I just saw No Way Home this last week. This answer will contain spoilers for Spiderman No Way Home, so if you haven't seen it, please proceed with caution.
tbh guys I give it like a 6.75/10.
It was. fine. It was entertaining enough.
More under the cut.
Parts I liked:
I liked having the other Spideys. I have historically hated Tobey Maguire's Spiderman, but this time I was actually very pleased to find that he was very relatable as the oldest and most experienced of the group.
In the moment when he put himself between Norman and Tom Holland Spidey, I thought there was going to be a narrative parallel between his and Blondie's death from ITSV (I honestly thought that that would be REALLY cool but was both bummed and pleased when it didn't happen).
Tom Holland is a phenomenal actor. Yes, he is picking up jobs that look stupid as hell, but you know what? I forgive him for that because he worked his ass off in the Spiderman films and, by god, he fought and cried and got MAD. It was wonderful to see MCU Spidey finally be angry, like really really angry.
Like YES YES YES. THAT'S THE SPIDERMAN WE KNOW.
So loved those parts.
Obviously I loved Andrew Garfield's Spiderman coming in and talking NONstop while other people were talking. Like that guy could not let Tobey Maguire Spidey finish a single sentence. He does motormouth spidey so well. And the bits between MJ and Garfield spidey were adorable. Was it cheesy when Garfield spidey crumpled to pieces after saving MJ from a fall that killed his Gwen? Yes. Do I care? No. Narratively, he finally got to take the dive and make things just a little bit more right for himself.
My favorite part of the whole film, though, was Garfield Spidey and Maguire Spidey popping each other's backs. HANDS. DOWN.
I don't care about literally anything else. (*except Matt catching the brick. Charlie had 4 lines in this movie and said 'I'm gonna make the most of this shit.')
Things I didn't like:
I appreciate that this film was essentially a way to walk back the entire characterization of MCU spiderman up until that point. I see what they were trying to do.
I also see that what sets MCU Spidey apart is the ability to work on a team. The other guys are lone wolves, so yes. I get it now why MCU spidey was built up as he was.
The comparisons between him and the other spideys was a very good way of handling his so far lackluster, boring-ass character development.
My main gripe is that we could have had this shit from the start. They wouldn't have had to walk all this shit back if they hadn't made him such a terrible, unrecognizable character in the first place and ending the film as they did essentially made everything he'd been through so far feel like it didn't matter. That was so many deaths just for us to end up with a Spidey who is finally at the beginning of his story.
Idk man. Not for me.
Also I hated the Dead Aunt May part of this plot. I HATED IT. Especially because it left a 17yo boy literally alone in the entire world and I'm like we really ended on this note?
MCU Spidey is a sad sack of shit right now.
FURTHER. It's not that I don't think that May could have said the line 'with great power comes great responsibility' but it means something different coming from Ben. Like, in terms of Jewish identity, Ben is the last living Jewish member of Peter's immediate family, and for him to say that, is tied to a WHOLE lot of baggage around like Jewish conceptions of power and social and communal responsibility. May isn't Jewish, so while its fine for her to deliver this message, I was just really, really let down.
It's yet another thing that makes me go 'this Spiderman isn't for me. This Spiderman is for Christians. He's been made for their comfort, not mine.' If they had at least somehow made May Jewish, I would have accepted it more easily. But yeah. That was a huge disappointment for me.
Other things I didn't like were Stephen Strange talking the way he did to a fucking 17yo like good god. Of course Peter hadn't called the university to contest his rejection. 99.9% of people don't fucking do that, and Peter is a c h i l d.
Don't love this Dr. Strange. Don't love how he has a lack of respect for his fellow sorcerer dude.
WHAT A DICK.
His whole scenes made me motion sick. I don't need that shit, Stephen. Please tone down these CGI backgrounds.
ONE MORE THING.
Why the fuck is the MCU insistent on putting Cap's shield everywhere? God, I cringed so bad when they put it on the statue of liberty. How. Fucking. Embarrassing. HOW EMBARRASSING.
Anyways, the best parts of this movie were the individual actors playing off each other and acting their asses off. All the villains deserved more screen time and more complex thoughts/feelings, too. TAKE IT FROM STRANGE. GIVE IT TO DOC OCK.
GOD.
Yeah, so. 6.75/10. I wouldn't watch it again.

So you don't think Marvel will make any good movies worth watching?
Oh my, I hope so. I truly, wholeheartedly, want them to.
The only reason I'm so critical of them is because I'm a fan and I love so many of their characters, mostly the 3 I have in my bio but there are others who are great as well. And the weirdest thing for me is that Marvel has proven that, when they want to, they can do some pretty good stuff.
I'm loving every second of Moon Knight, in fact every new ep I see I like it better than the previous one. I love Steven and Marc and Layla and my adorable piece of shit that is Khonshu. And I adore the Black Widow movie too, I miss Nat a lot but Yelena is fantastic. And NWH was the best MCU Spidey movie to date. I had fun with Eternals, Hawkeye had its faults but it was enjoyable, WandaVision was my favourite Disney+ show before Moon Knight aired...
So yeah they can do good stuff, both in D+ and the movies. But the mistakes? The mistakes are HUGE. The Loki series was a damn disgrace, the framing of most of TFATWS was terrible, EG was probably the worst movie they have made (and if we go further back Ragnarok was an insult to Thor and Loki's characterization, CW wasn't a Cap movie, Stark was treated like a hero when he's nothing but, etc).
So when talking about future projects I can't help but feel worried because I don't know if they're going to nail it or ruin it. And I hate being negative about it, I really want to stay optimistic and I try, but it's all very hit and miss with Marvel these days.
With that said I would LOVE to be wrong! I want MoM to be a great movie and focus on Stephen and his arc, I want Love and Thunder to approach Thor's character the right way and address his past... I will be the first to come here and yell that I was wrong and the movies were phenomenal.
#I mean#I wouldn't be so critical if I didn't love them#so it's not like I hate Marvel#I don't#I'm a fan#but a fan who is tired of their double morality#of their victim blaming#of the terrible framing#and the way they defend bad fathers#among other things

Major NWH spoilers //
I went and watched nwh on friday and it’s safe to say I’m still not over it. There’s literally so much I could talk about, so I’m gonna try and keep my thoughts organized, but frankly I’ll probably just end up rambling.
First of all there’s absolutely nothing like watching an mcu movie opening day, but this was a whole new level. My theatre was actually cheering, which I’ve only witnessed one other time (endgame), and it was so much fun.
But anyway on to the actually movie just wow. I had joked before that this movie was either gonna be a top 5 mcu movie or bottom 5, and it’s safe to say I was right on the former. It was so perfect and it felt like such a love letter to spiderman fans, old and new. I fell in love with most of the characters all over again, and it was such a thrill to see some old faces on the big screen again.
Originally I was gonna do this by scenes, but I might just do it by characters, because frankly they were what made the movie.
Starting off with Tom’s Peter, his performance was phenomenal in this movie. Tom has never been my favorite Peter, but he always does a fantastic job, and it’s weird that it took this long for people to finally appreciate him. No matter though, his maturity in this movie was breathtaking. His Peter has always been innocent, and to see him finally snap was very in character. His emotions felt real, and it hurt so much to see him loose May. And to witness his journey from rage to sacrifice was very needed and yet sad. Not to mention the ending, it seems tragedy is a spiderman theme, and to see the title come full circle was heartbreaking. Tom delivered completely, and I can’t wait to see him as spidey again.
Seeing Andrew’s Peter show up on screen was truly such an experience, I was freaking out of course, but it was amazing to be a room of people who were equally excited. His performance almost stole the show if I’m honest. There were so many characters in this movie, but he made his presence very known. For the longest time people have hated on Andrew’s Peter and TASM way too much, and it’s nice to see him finally get praise, even if it was deserved long before. His sadness and guilt masked by humor was so heartbreaking, and the scene where he caught MJ made me tear up. It was such a full circle moment, and a better conclusion than the end of TASM2. And despite everything he still wanted to help Electro and Lizard, which is very in character. It was so fun to see him interact with Tom and Tobey, and when he told them he loved them, it was such a sweet moment. Andrew could not have done better with this movie, and it left me really wishing we got TASM3.
Tobey’s movies will forever be my favorite, and it was such a surreal thing to see him come through the portal. And not as spiderman mind you, but as Peter. He definitely took more of a father role in this movie, and it was a real joy to watch. Tobey looks very different of course, I mean it has been 20 years, but his acting and portrayal of the character picked right back up. I loved watching him play along with Andrew’s and Tom’s Peters, and while he might’ve taken more of a backseat, he was so perfect. The scene where he stopped Tom’s Peter from making the same mistake he did was flawless. They said so much to one another without a single word. For a moment I thought he was going to die when he got stabbed and I was about to sob in the theatre, but luckily he was alright. Tobey really proved that he’s still got it, and that he really is what started it all.
A quick note about all the Peter’s, I loved their dynamic so so much. Their playful banter was a real treat, and I would give anything to see more of it. When they were all in the lab together I couldn’t stop laughing, especially when Tom and Andrew’s Peters were freaking out that Tobey’s Peter could just shoot webs out of his wrist. The scene where they all finally worked together and swung together was truly amazing. I also loved how Andrew’s and Tobey’s Peters got to interact with one another outside of Tom. I was worried that they were gonna treat Tom’s too much like a middle man, but they really felt like a unit. I have nothing but praise for the three of them. The hug at the end was very tear jerking, and when Tobey and Andrew’s were standing there and watching Tom, it really felt like the mantle was finally passed. Tom has always been spiderman, but now it’s just solidified. Their dynamic couldn’t have been done better and words can’t explain how much I loved it.
Now onto the villains, who helped make the movie as amazing as it was of course. To be honest I’m still so shocked that they got all of the main villains from past movies, that feat in itself is very impressive.
Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin has got to be one of the best marvel villains of all time. No one could do it better, he was literally born to play this role. While I do feel at the beginning we were robbed of a proper fight with the full goblin suit, the movie made up for it later on. GG being the main antagonist and instigator wasn’t too much of a shock, though from the trailer I did think for a bit that Doc Ock was gonna be the main one. No matter though he was so good. And the way you could instantly tell when Willem was Norman vs GG was fantastic. He’s is just a phenomenal actor and he was absolutely wicked on the big screen. His impact is so real and it always will be.
I did not expect to love Otto as much as I did, but oh my he was so perfect in this movie. Spiderman 2 has always been a fan favorite, but what I loved most was that Doc Ock had a consensus, and in the end he did the right thing. So I was super hyped to see him in NWH and he didn’t disappoint. I loved that he was actively on the Peter’s side. When he grabbed Tobey and Andrew, and stopped Electro I couldn’t stop freaking out, it was such a treat to see a villain helping the heroes. But the real tearjerker was his conversation with Tobey’s Peter. His little “you’re all grown up, how are you?” left me wanting to get on the floor and sob. It felt like he not only was talking to Peter, but the audience as well. He was easily one of my favorite characters and seeing Alfred again was unbelievably great.
Electro had a bigger role than I expected and frankly I liked that. They completely redesigned his character and that was a smart move. I can’t say I fully blame him for his actions because goblin is a strong influencer. Nevertheless though it was very in character for him to be so defiant, and his conversation with Andrew at the end made me giggle. Lizard and Sandman were barely in the movie, and they both didn’t seem to care whether it went one way or the other. But I must say I really enjoyed when sandman help Peter towards the beginning, I thought it was sweet.
There were so many moments in this film that I loved. For me it’s top 3 spiderman movies and top 5 MCU movies as a whole. Eddie’s little cameo at the end was great and I’m literally begging for him and Andrew’s Peter to be in the same universe. There is still so much to see from spiderman, and it’s safe to say I will always tune in.

Minor NWH Spoilers
@sobeautifullyobsessed
This is an interesting question! Thanks for thinking of me when discussing it further!
So while my favorite character in the MCU is Stephen, my second favorite is probably Wong. What they've done with his rather drab origins in the comics is absolutely phenomenal in terms of updating his role for the 21st century and giving him a chance to really be Stephen's equal in terms of most magical capabilities.
But in terms of raw power, no, I don't think Wong has the raw power that Stephen has. But raw power is not the only thing needed to be Sorcerer Supreme. In the films, the job of the Sorcerer Supreme is not exactly explained in Doctor Strange or indeed any other film. From what I could remember, this is the only thing that is said about the hierarchy of sorcerers, by Wong:
While heroes like the Avengers protect the world from physical dangers, we sorcerers safeguard it against more mystical threats. The Ancient One is the latest in a long line of Sorcerers Supreme going back thousands of years to the father of the mystic arts, the mighty Agamotto.
Then Stephen helpfully adds that part of the job is "protecting your reality" to Tony Stark in Infinity War, but it's implied that it's every sorcerer's job to do that. So what makes any Sorcerer Supreme special, or how the selection process of Sorcerer Supreme goes, is not really clarified in the films so far.
In the comics, it's a bit clearer. I'm afraid there's no source for where this quote comes from on the Wiki, but from what I remember reading in the comics, it seems accurate in terms of power:
The Sorcerer Supreme is a practitioner of the mystic or magic arts who has greater skills than all others or commands a greater portion of the ambient magical energies than any other organism on a given world or "dimension".
When it comes to selection in the comics, it's a good deal more complicated than it seems in the MCU. But at this point, we have no proof that the Sorcerer Supreme in the MCU is selected based upon power levels.
And from what we've seen in NWH, that's exactly the case here. We know Wong's a long-time practitioner, long enough to work his way into the hierarchy of the practical functioning of Kamar-Taj and their society as a whole before Stephen ever arrived. That gives him some weight to put into a higher leadership role.
Unlike wiki (which has, by the way, no proof or citations), I do not think Stephen's ever been Sorcerer Supreme in the MCU. I think that, between 2017 and 2018 they were without one but were secretly training Stephen and watching him to eventually take up the role. I think Stephen figured this out, which is why he said in NWH:
Wong: The Sorcerer Supreme has high duties, yes.
Peter: Wait, I thought you were the Sorcerer Supreme?
Stephen: No. He got it on a technicality 'cause I blipped for five years.
Peter: Oh. Well, congratulations.
Stephen: If I'd been here, then I'd...
Wong: Burned the place down.
(How Peter knows of Sorcerer Supremes when Stephen never used that title in IW is unknown to me. Maybe they had a talk about Kamar-Taj on their way to Titan and Peter made an incorrect inference about the leadership structure?)
After the snap, the sorcerers' plans were thrown out the window. They went to plan B: promote someone capable who was still present to the role, in order to help structure what was remaining of the sorcerer population. Wong happened to be in that place and time.
There's nothing within the MCU canon that gives any sort of time-frame of having no Sorcerer Supreme (unlike the comics, which seems to transfer roles fairly immediately-- but the MCU is a far cry from the comics in many ways). And I don't think they were just training Stephen in terms of power and capability, but also leadership and history. He had power and talent, but that doesn't mean he was ready to lead. That's why I find the idea that he was made Sorcerer Supreme in 2017-2018 absolutely absurd, especially since Wong did not give him back the role. If he ever had it in the first place, I think Wong would give it back. (In the comics, they can give the role away--and that better be what happens in the films, because Wong dying would be utterly unacceptable as an alternative.)
In the end, Stephen's definitely got more of the "Sorcerer Supreme" vibe as the comic role defines it. However, I think in the films the role has been converted to not just a position of one's raw power and magical capabilities, but also a position of leadership. Stephen was in training but still has room to grow as a leader--which is a good thing, because if he didn't have that room for character growth, his character arcs in his upcoming films wouldn't be that great.
So how the MCU has defined the role of Sorcerer Supreme (with as little as they've given us), Wong suits the role. He has shown leadership capabilities on an individual level with Stephen, and even on a group level in the very few scenes we've been able to see him lead other sorcerers in DS1 and Endgame. But I'd be genuinely surprised if Stephen does not get it by a third solo film (I'm banking on three DS films lol).
Thanks for the ask!

GUESS WHO SAW NWH AGAIN
and here’s the Thoughts Post™️
(spoilers obvi)
so. damn. good
what a ride, truly
I would gladly pay for a movie of just the three Peters improvising dialogue for like four hours
it was so incredibly *human*. I was never much into superhero stuff when I was little, but Spiderman is different; this is just a young person trying to balance parts of life and figure things out, forgive himself for mistakes and learn how to make things right, etc, and that’s why people have been so enamored with his story for decades.
the acting was absolutely phenomenal all around. truly. I wish I could rant about everything but some parts that hit me the most include May’s death (and Peter’s process of grief in those few moments, and Happy pulling up-god, that was what destroyed me) and the wordless exchange between Tom and Tobey on the shield
the seemingly contrasting yet coexisting messages of “you can’t and shouldn’t try to fix those who don’t want to be fixed” and “we all have a responsibility to show empathy to each other; that has the potential to change and save lives”
I wish we got more of Electro-he seemed to really rely on his power as a way of defining himself and I hope he ends up okay
there have been people who’ve criticized the portrayal of villains who are seen as “crazy” and can be “cured” when they’re “normal” as harmful to the neurodivergent community, which. yeah. I agree. I guess the way I can sleep at night enjoying this movie is the idea that, if there’s subtext here, it’s saying that empathy can help people get back to who they truly are (Otto, Norman, etc); there are criticisms to be made but overall I think the film’s intentions were good? but impact over intent, well-whatever, I’ll hopefully figure out how to word it sometime
anyway I am madly in love with Andrew Garfield but what else is new
Ned’s Lola is iconic
so much of what I love about all things Spidey is the sheer teenagery of it all. Peter, MJ, Ned-they feel so beautifully regular and so human and so relatable. those little moments between them are truly the best
there were vents going on and off in the theater, at one point they were on and when Doc Ock said “it’s…so quiet” they turned off, making the breath of relief that much more palpable. Poetic Cinema™️
WILLEM DAFOE IS SO DAMN GOOD
I’m gonna miss May so much
the first time I saw it was truly such a ride; there’s so much to feel and so much to wonder about, the implications, the possibilities, the NECKLACE
GIVE MY BOY PETER A BREAAAAAAAK
many more thoughts I can’t recall rn but anyway this movie is everything. please scooby-doo this shit. thank you and goodnight

My rundown of NWH characters
MAJOR NO WAY HOME SPOILERS
Note: This is the first Spider-Man movie of Tom’s that I’ve seen. I think he’s a great actor but I’m honestly tired of all the Spider-Man movies. I’m sure his other spider man movies are good but I just don’t want to see them yet. So my opinions on the main characters aren’t found to be as detailed as the others.
Peter 1: Main character, a fucking moron for fucking with magic. Goes hero mode when he realizes the villains will die when sent back to their universes. Lost his aunt, girlfriend, best friend which was sad but literally wouldn’t have happened if he didn’t interrupt Stephen. 6/10
MJ & Ned: these are put together because they weren’t around long. MJ is very sassy and I love that. She put Stephen in his place really fucking quick. Ned is funny. He also is able to use them portal ring that Stephen uses. Both are still friends at the end. Both get 8/10
Stephen: a bitch. He still doesn’t care about people. Mad at &Peter (rightfully so). Wants to send the villains back to their universes, doesn’t care that 3 out of 5 of them would die. Gets trapped in the mirror dimension like a loser (Don't get me wrong, I love Stephen). 5/10
Wong: Was shown for a brief time, still very sassy. He had to deal with other stuff and told Stephen to leave him out of the spell. 7/10
Aunt May: Definition of deserved better. 7/10
Happy: A sad man. 4/10
Peter 2: The OG spiderman. Love how they referenced his back injury from Spider-Man 3. Him and Doc Ock had a heart felt meetup which I think was amazing because this Peter looked up to Otto. I thought the web talk between him and Peter 3 was really funny and I liked how they referenced the existential crisis he was having in SM3. 10/10
Peter 3: Can't believe I got my favorite version of Peter back. Love that he was so happy to have the other spidermen around and that he referred to them as brothers. Also, I love that he somewhat redeemed himself when he saved MJ. Not gonna lie, I cried watching him save MJ. 10/10
Norman Osborn/Green Goblin: I love that Norman went to Aunt May for help but still ended up betraying them because of the Green Goblin. I'm glad that he was the last villain to save because he really was the most deranged villain out of all of them. 8/10
Otto Octavius/Doc Ock: Doc Ock got a redemption arc that I didn't know I needed. Honestly I loved the fact that he thought Peter 1 was his Peter until the nanotech mask disappeared. Also, I'm glad that Peter 1 helped him by replacing the fried neural inhibitor. He also helped the Spiderman trio when they were dealing with Electro. 10/10
Flint Marko/Sandman: Flint wasn't a problem in the beginning of the film. He actually helped Peter 1 with Electro when Peter was trying to find Green Goblin. Although, Stephen had to run his mouth and say that he was going to send everyone back, not caring if they were going to die. He looked relieved at the end of the film when he was finally back to himself. 7/10
Curt Connors/Lizard: Curt is still as weird as he was in the first TASM. I'm glad that he goes back to human form but I have a feeling that sending him back to his universe will just allow him to make the lizard serum again. 5/10
Max Dillon/Electro: I loved Electro in this movie. In TASM 2, the cgi really didn't look well so I'm glad we got to see him with a better look. He was a major dick in the movie but I understand why he didn't want to lose his powers but in all honestly I'm just glad that he was alive. 6/10
A summary; I love that they got everyone from Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider Man. The nostalgia that I got from seeing the characters from Tobey's films and Andrew's films was amazing. Seeing this movie in theaters was phenomenal. It's definitely worth seeing. The only thing I don't like seeing is all the hype that Andrew is getting now when people originally hated his movies. But that's about all I have to say. I can't wait to watch it again.

i’ve collected enough of my thoughts. here’s my multiverse of madness review….spoilers below.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
I didn’t like it. And that bums me out to say because I was genuinely excited for this one.
It felt very rushed. With how much was being advertised, I figured the movie would be darn near Endgame/Infinity War runtime. The first half hour of the film moved way too quickly and it felt like it.
The dialogue. Bro, this is Marvel. I know they can write better than this. There were so many lines that had me cringing a little. “I’m not a monster, I’m a mother.” Ugh, they severely underserved their characters in that department.
The multiverse. I’m actually shocked at how little of it we saw. I figured we’d be jumping rapid fire between timelines, but we really only spent time in two of them. Kind of disappointing with how much Marvel hyped it up.
On that subject…Marvel severely oversold the concept of the multiverse and the havoc it would reek. Loki introduced the concept in action and we all have held our breath for nearly a year. Spider-Man NWH also broke it open and made it seem like all hell was about to break loose. It was all culminating towards MOM! To have them only visit two universes felt like a tremendous letdown after everything they’d built it up to be.
The cameos. Here’s the thing…I think we as fans expected too much. There were at least ten rumors flying about from Sophie Turner to Tobey McGuire and everyone in between. However, Marvel also told us to expect a lot of cameos and to only have the Illuminati was a bit of a letdown. Not that I wasn’t ecstatic to see who we saw, but this is another aspect of the movie that Marvel oversold.
The third act for me was actually underwhelming and frankly, weird. The whole souls of the damned thing, especially Strange harnessing them to fight Wanda, was truly weird. Not ground-breaking or edgy like it was advertised, just weird. Look, I’m a Christian so the whole demon thing had me making crosses over my chest. But even if I wasn’t, it was just a really strange avenue to go down for the final battle.
The score, I will say, was phenomenal. Danny Elfman has never played a wrong note in his life and he continues to do so. Loved getting to hear his work again!
Okay, now onto the characters themselves…
Strange felt like a secondary character in his own movie. He isn’t my favorite by far and his first movie isn’t great, but I still was coming into this ready for some Strange. You can tell the writing team spent more time on Wanda then they did Strange and that was disappointing. I did love that he was still a quick witted douche with a heart. Him letting Christine go broke my heart. “I loved you in every universe.” AH! I hope they find some way in the next one to get them together somehow.
Wanda…oh, where do I begin…They screwed her up. Look, I didn’t watch WandaVision because I know they were going to get into true witch stuff and I don’t vibe with that. But still, she remained one of my favorite characters. But they completely messed up her arc. To turn her from someone repentant for their sins to a woman ready to kill a child to get her way was way too hard of a turn to take so quickly. While I understand she was the villain, there is such a thing as making the villain too dark and I think they did that with Wanda. Killing the entirety of the Illuminati, trying to kill America (again, a child), it wasn’t compelling. It seems like Marvel just thought up “oh, let’s make Wanda the villain. We don’t know how and it’s going to feel a little forced but hey, it’ll look cool!” When she “died” I was shocked, but actually think it might be good to step away from her character for a while. I know after killing Charles and Captain Carter, I don’t want to see her anytime soon 😂 With how much hype she had in the time since WandaVision, they need to let her breathe for a while lest she become overrated. All in all, really disappointed with how they handled her villainy. There was a lot of potential there for her to be great instead of bowing to sensationalism.
America Chavez was fine! I don’t really lean a specific way on her. I didn’t fall in love with her, but I didn’t dislike her. It’ll be interesting to see what they do with her.
Wong, the voice of reason in every scenario haha
JOHN KRASINSKI AS MR FANTASTIC. LET’S 👏🏻 GO 👏🏻
Seeing Hayley Atwell actully in the Captain Carter costume was just 😍😍
Loved getting to see Professor X do his thing, if only for a moment.
So…I have no clue who Charlize Theron was and what it’s leading into but honestly, I was hoping for a post-credit scene that lead into Loki. I wish it would have felt a little more connected to the current MCU storylines we have going on rather than starting another one.
All in all, I’d give it 3/5. I think there is such a thing as being too ambitious and Marvel definitely was with this one.

was it just me or was the cgi for nwh lizard so AWFUL like everytime he spoke it was like a bad dub. also i feel like electro's whole character was off
no i was waiting for someone to say this so many of the scenes looked off? like firstly lizard and sandman had lots of scenes taken from their original movies and the actors couldn’t come because of covid so it literally was like it was dubbed. and i feel like with the budget they had the cgi could’ve been so much better? the cgi in tasm 2 was phenomenal and here the spidey suits looked so. flat lmao
#it was just weird all around#i’m guessing covid fucked up a lot but yeah it could’ve been better#they rely too much on cgi for these things when just regular old props or costumes would b fine#asked

Just saw Spider-Man nwh last night and been thinking about it nonstop since
mya!! angel!! i missed you!!
no bc i couldn't sleep the night that i saw it
spoilers below!! please don't read if you haven't seen the movie, I'm giving you plenty of warning to not only scroll away but not even click to keep reading in the first place. I don't care if you want to read spoilers or not, I do not want to be responsible for ruining the movie for you, please move along :)
these are in no particular order, i'm just vomiting all of my thoughts :D
may's death made me sob, but you know what fucking made me sob harder? Andrew's peter finally getting to save a gwen/mj character!!! literally made me gasp as i realized what they were doing and the way that the color drained from his face as he relived his previous failings and literally dove off of the tower without even thinking about his own safety precautions before catching her ruined my life!! i cried about it for so long!! i'm so happy for him!!
also, when andrew ripped off his mask (I'd recognized his voice but still) the entire theater gasped and so did i and it was just such a good moment holy shit!!
i literally thought tobey's peter was gonna die?? he got stabbed and i was like jesus i didn't see that coming
can we talk!! about!! 3 way peter banter!! so fucking good!! literally walked out of the theater with a smile on my face (and several tears but who fucking cares don't talk about it)
MID CREDIT SCENE MID CREDIT SCENE MID CREDIT SCENE
As someone who is not only an avid fan of peter (ofc) but also of eddie/venom, it was such an amazing scene!! also, i predicted the fact that they weren't from the same universes, i feel so smart :3 also venom's little, 'wE are dRuNk' HELLO IT MADE ME CACKLE
the ending?? coffee shop au who?? literally such a cute fucking scene and of course it was heartbreaking but !! i can smell the ao3 fics from here!! i'm so excited!!
doctor octopus was literally so embarassingly attractive to me goodbye i'm ashamed of myself
also small detail and all but peter struggling to get the green shit out of his suit at least 3 times that I remember and then finally having it clean and telling may thank you for washing it :(( she was literally the backbone of this fucking story and now she's not here anymore and :((
the bridge scene where peter first meets d.o and g.g?? phenomenal!! literally made me smile so hard even though they were both trying to rip him to pieces!!
okay i've mentioned andrew's peter a lot already but mother of god that man?? fu c k. literally got me so good, i've been rewatching tasm just in case he showed up and he dID and i was wEAK and then when i got home i watched all of his latest content and honestly so embarassed that i'm this far deep into the andrew garfield content vortex, i'm like genuinely ashamed of what that movie did to me
also, andrew cleaning the cobwebs for ned's family <33 fucking precious
speaking of ned!! i love him!! so much!! his whole 'i do have magic!!' thing?? soBBing. he's literally such a great character and even though he third wheeled 99% of this movie i smiled every time, he's so fucking cute >:(
the two other spidermen being freaked out when tobey didn't have to manually make his own web fluid!! so fucking good!! then being like dude sorry if this is personal but h oW?
the entire scene at the top of the statue of liberty before anyone showed up so it was just the three peters was literally one of my favorite scenes in cinematic history. no fucking joke. it gave us sO much banter and soft moments and i just >:((( fuck yes >:(((
the back cracking scene?? goodbye. can't get over that shit.
Andrew Garfield!!
the other peters stopping tom's from killing g.g :(( i knew they were gonna do it but oh my god :(( it was so sweet, such a perfect brother-figure moment :((
the hug between the peters!! fuck off!! right now!! had me in tears!!
speaking of tears!! when ned and mj hugged peter on the top of the school after may died :( literally made me sob so hard the rest of the people i went to see it with were just 🤨
doctor strange :))) i know :))) it was peter's fault :))) but could you not :))) be a dick about it :))) in the first place :))) he's literally in high school :)))
seriously though, i know it was peter's fault for being indecisive and panicking at the last minute, but like,, stephen goes between telling him he's an indecisive child and protecting him from the Hard Stuff because of it and then yelling at him because he should be more than an indecisive child,, sir please pick one,,
i will 100% be adding more to this at points throughout the day, i just got excited to scream about it and probably missed a bunch of points that i wanted to make :')
thank you for letting me scream lovely!! i missed you so much, I'm glad I'm back online and I'm glad you haven't given up on me :') Love you lots, darling <333

Realistically, I shouldn't care about the MTV awards, and I usually don't give a shit about awards shows but like...this one had The Batman and loads of marvel things nominated so I do.
Sophia Di Martino won Best Breakthrough, which makes me super happy, she deserves it! And Loki won Best Team Up too! Sophia collecting all the awards!😍
But The Batman has lost to Spiderman NWH for Best Movie, and while I love NWH, I'm sorry, that is bullshit.
Also, Rob & Zoe were up for Best Kiss (for The Batman), as were Tom Holland & Zendaya (for NWH) and they lost to a guy kissing a snake in some bs comedy movie? Cinematic kisses lost to that?!! I shouldn't be so annoyed but I am.
If The Batman doesn't win at least one category it's in, I'll be fuming. Btw, this is being updated as I learn the results by refreshing the MTV website.
A shame Sadie Sink didn't win her category, but I still need to actually watch Fear Street! Also, not a horror fan and haven't watched those movies, so I'm sure the winner is well-deserved.
Also, Ryan Reynolds won Best Comedic Performance! Yes! Free Guy was awesome and I laughed so much at it. Glad he won.
Just crossing my fingers The Batman wins something still. Also praying that if Rob doesn't win Best Hero, Oscar Isaac, Tom Holland, Simu Liu or Scarlett Johansson do, rather than Daniel Craig. I'm not a Bond fan.
Kinda sad Loki didn't win Best Show, but apparently Euphoria is awesome, and I love Zendaya so if something else had to win, I'm glad it was that.
Personally think Robert Pattinson should've won Best Performance in a Movie because he was phenomenal in The Batman. Kinda cross tbh. But Tom Holland is a great actor and deserves it. Just think Rob should've got it.
Also, Scarlett won Best Hero for Black Widow! Yay! Forgot Rob wasn't nominated for that, and would've loved Oscar Isaac to win, but Scarlett deffo deserves it, good for her!
Honestly, kinda fuming because The Batman has been completely SNUBBED at these awards and it's such a great film, but it won literally NOTHING, like, what the fuck?! But glad some of my fave Marvel things won awards! And this is why I shouldn't get invested in awards shows.
#mtv awards 2022#the batman 2022#spiderman no way home#loki#no hate on spiderman#I love that film#but the batman is better in legit everyway#especially in terms cinematography#and even acting as amazing as the spiderman cast are

I can’t say it better than this. His performance was out of this world and in a film packed with phenomenal performances, his is the one I have seen praised more often than anything else in NWH. I feel so happy for Andrew right now and I hope he knows how much love he is getting for this film.
The best thing for me? How Andrew Garfield got a chance to redeem his character, a proper way to say goodbye, an ending that will make him proud and happy instead of sad and disappointed.
I can’t stop thinking about how his eyes were shining all the time. How his happiness radiated from him. How he got to be side by side with his hero (Tobey) and be spiderman with him! To get his ‘blessing’ (“you are amazing!”).
About his character: how he got his hope back, his colors back. Meeting the other Parkers was so important for all of them but him most of all. How saving MJ from the exact same accident he lost Gwen to was a heartbreakingly healing. You could see it, Andrew nailed his acting here. The absolute pain he felt, the ‘I could’ve saved her too’ mixed with ‘at least I saved MJ, and this Peter won’t have to go through that’.
Andrew got a chance to make things right for himself, and he did it graciously. He gave all of himself and I am so absolutely proud and happy for him. For me, this was the best things in a film full of great things. I just… you deserve it, Andrew and amazing!Peter. You both deserve it!
