*PRESSES LOUD RED BUZZER* WRONG

The Captain is NOT an example of the 'bury the gays' trope, and it is utterly stupid to think that he is. The article states that the Captain "plays into the stereotype that gay characters live sad, unfulfilling lives" which, if you've watched BBC Ghosts, isn't entirely true. The author also seems to criticise the show for not having the Captain come out of the closet to explore his sexuality. I'll forever love the writers for not deciding to go down that trope, because just like 'bury your gays' it is predictable and so overused in queer media. We know the Captain is gay, the character himself has known that for at least 80 years and the audience doesn't need a confession nor an explicit internal conflict for us to know this. Additionally I am so glad they didn't make the Captain's character arc about his sexuality, because it would be a lazy and overdone story that completely overlooks the Captain as a whole. The BBC version of Ghosts treats the Captain as a somewhat overbearing, orderly and reserved man (which we see change as the series develops), NOT as the gay character who didn't get a chance to tell the man he loved about his feelings for him (which of course is an important aspect of the Captain but it doesn't define who he is or what he does). There is no mistake that the writers made with the character of the Captain.

the first four lines of round 1 i believe is significant throughout the whole story "Oh my Clematis / hope bloomed from the abyss / Oh my Clematis / always be by my side" sua sings the former two lines and mizi sings the latter two, sua is despair (prominent black in design, often depicted with shineless eyes in art esp when not around mizi, godhood, arbiter of change, she haunts mizi's narrative, the abyss, even so there is the shine of starlight in the void), mizi is hope (very "floral" color pallet, often depicted with the shiniest sparkliest eyes in art esp when light shines on her glasses, the clematis, "bloomed" after sua is killed and loses what is covering her eyes)

i think the fact that we never really get to see from sua's perspective is part of her "mythology", that we never see much aside from her love for mizi, that we wouldnt truly know if shes anything more than a devotee if the supplemental material wasnt a thing

ivan and sua were both given abundance not in the caring sense but in the showpony sense, have an association with stars, and were wearing white on the round they died (like they were going to a wedding), and (assuming ivan assessed what sua was doing correctly) both sacrificed themselves for their loved ones (sua wanted to be remembered [i wonder if she at the very least felt happy that her lover will always remember her, regardess of how it came about, if she felt happy that it was her that died and not mizi, i wonder if she truly had hope that they could both get out of the round alive or if she just went along with it for mizi's sake], ivan wanted to be seen [i wonder if he at the very least felt happy that his loved one finally saw him just him for once, i wonder if he kissed till not just for tills sake but for his own too, i wonder how he felt that he never really got to leave a mark on till despite seemingly wanting to since that "choke" absolutely did not leave anything])

i will never not find it funny how some people make it seem as if the fem lead or the story is very interesting(she's not, the fem lead is found in many stories of the genre, annoying personality, villainess are usually the worst of the lot) of some josei/shoujo romance when everyone with eyes and brains can see the posts are all about thirsts for the male lead. Like, its not hard to admit you just like the very good looking, too handsome male lead. it's a perfect example of self inserting in the story, in the below average fem lead and oohing at scenes with the handsome lead.

He is very good looking. wan hachipisu's art is lovely, the males especially. arnold hein is very very good looking, he is very handsome. shame the author usually draws for TL which are an annoyance at best and a cringesfest at worst.

Anyway, the story has tons of good looking guys, the main selling point.

try as much as you wish, they'll never be iconic characters like sakura from clamp, yona from akatsuki no yona, kyoko from skip beat, shirayuki, violet evergarden who are very pleasant and likeable characters. You want to read more of their story, they are that good.

and it's hilarious they get offended when people say, nah we dont care for them. it's actually the same case of self inserting in gay ships, replacing the male lead with self insert/ofc then getting upset when people rightfully call it out.

its doubly strange and ironic, the fem leads of such stories are never changed to male. thats a big no no. nah, that habit is reserved especially for males in gay ships. blatant homophobia at its finest.

if spiderverse 2 was the final one itd probably be miles dad quitting and thats how we find out you can change canon events or whatever. we didnt need a second story with a second cop dad. i think gwens story wouldve been sufficient if it was just about her band. they also couldve cut the bland bird fight and moved the other spider teams introduction, it wouldve been fine if we just followed miles story until gwen came to him and were introduced to the in-charge spider people when entering the spider world or whatever. if they werent making a sequel thats probably how it would go.

if they wanted to make it better, they should make gwen be less annoying, or have some more insightful thoughts about her being annoying.

also idk what theyre gonna do with uncle aaron but im suspicious of how theyre framing him and that universe. i dont think he would do that to miles, even an alternate miles. hes just a guy with a job. and even if he would do that in a specific snecario, the fact they created the perfect scenario for him to do that makes me think theyre trying to frame him as a bad guy which i dont like.

i hope theyre gonna roll that back in the last movie or make it some sort of misunderstanding, without giving him a redemption arc because he doesnt need it.

ok so this next thing isnt a real problem as is but it would be if they cut the things i described and suddenly lacked content: the villain (spot?) has very little going on. but i think hes a cool guy, they could figure something out. make him more inquisitive like the scientist he is, make him struggle more at the start and maybe show some of his daily life. im tELLING YOU HE HAS CUTE PATHETIC POTENTIAL but i suspect thats not where the story is going just because of the way hes designed. the movie really doesnt favour certain body types (thats a whole other can of worms about this franchise that im not opening here, its been going on since the first movie)

or build up miguel more, maybe make him more prominent as an antagonist (although he works okay as it is, i think the scene where he tries to bend miles to his will is great and he works well as a representation of a forced narrative that miles has to defy). they have to be careful with him, hes kind of a basic superhero guy, whose only (but important and interesting) flaw is that he's too lawful. they should follow that lead

also im repeating myself from a previous post but some of the characters just dont have much personality. i hope they let spiderwoman take more of a stance on things in the next one because shes quite inconclusive. is she a career person that doesnt see anything wrong with what theyre doing? does she let miguel do all that stuff because she respects him? or will she completely change camps and support miles when we see her again? what we currently know about her is that shes a spiderwoman and shes having a baby. thats not very anticapitalist of them, to only focus on what a character is doing for society and how shes useful (although showing that she is useful and valuable will do it for some people, that might be important too. but i never buy that archetype "i balance career with my baby perfectly! look how strong of a woman i am")

to sum it up, words cannot describe how little i cared about gwens deal. i wouldnt have brought back uncle aaron at all but since they did they need to make him endearing again. flesh out miguel and spiderwoman

also im only saying this because i care about spiderverse, and i think it has potential, and it has responsibilities and standards to meet that the first movie has set. i still think if youre gonna watch anything in the theatres right now, it should be spiderverse

and i think he provides a very Very interesting contrast to his roomie- which is why i’m so fascinated by their dynamic. i could go on and on abt how they contrast each other but i’ll boil it down to just: kaveh seems to share similar end goals with him, but the way they go about those end goals is the Complete opposite. and i REALLY love that!!!!

ive developed a sorta fascination to charas who r the .. idk how to say. physical representation of themes in the story or the nation theyre part of LOL, like how xinyan represents the new age liyue is going into by introducing the Very New genre of rock n roll !! etc etc. n i think about nahida’s voiceline abt kaveh a lot: “He has an almost-perfect grasp of what it truly means for Sumeru to be a Nation of Wisdom.”

n i think that’s what he and his roomie represent- two opposing ideas that come from the same goal which should be the true goal for the akademiya: knowledge for knowledge’s sake. learning just to learn. to ask the questions nobody else would ask, n to uncover theories n truths that anyone else wouldnt bother to. the akademiya has long been blinded by prestige and trying to climb to the top that they forget what it means to just Learn New Things (society moment 😔), but these two have never wavered from that. their pursuit of knowledge is so pure, n that makes them probably 2 of the Only competent ppl in the entire goddamn akademiya HGKDBDJDB

with kaveh specifically i think he likes to absorb Everything he learns, and he has interests in a lot of things (soooo adhd of him ik). which is why despite being….. Essentially a tech major LOL, he’s also a huge romantic with an eye for aesthetics and a huge love for the arts, and it also explains why he also has other hobbies on the side, like magic tricks!! kaveh is a very… for lack of a better word, collectivistic(?? boy that is not a word) person. this not only shows with all his interests, but in the way he treats other scholars as well!! he went broke not only from building alcazarzaray- he also gives his funds to workers, and judging from scholars’ lines about him, hes very well liked in the akademiya!! hes very much a people person and likes to share whatever they need- he believes that helping others is a natural course of action!! in everything he does, he shares and is open to anything he feels is right

Hi so I fancy spilling my opinions on the JJ, Pope and Kiara love triangle

I believe it would be a mistake by having Kie end up with either Pope or JJ. Pope because the way she treated him this season would it make no sense and they’ve had next to no romantic chemistry. JJ because it would just be upsetting having every single pouge like her, further enforcing the ‘girls and boys can’t just be friends.’ I think they have a really cute friendship dynamic, bickering siblings who’d die for each other type vibes, and also I can’t really see JJ even giving a chance to something that could affect his bonds with the pouges (because it would affect not just his friendship with Kie but also with Pope.)

With the way season 2 has gone there isn’t anything yet doing anything more then signalling to maybe a JJxKiara storyline so it being completely dropped wouldn’t be a plot hole at all or weird for the characters. At the same time they’ve set up for the chance of a JJxKiara storyline quite well so, as long as it’s written just right, it could be done quite well and wouldnt ruin the show (specifically JJ and Kie as characters).

Personally the best way I believe to go with Kie’s character now would be to have her be a lesbian. I think her originally denying Pope, seemingly sure about her desicion, and then suddenly doubling back doesn’t really make sense if she just over night goes ‘actually I think Popes perfect for me and I really like him’. It seems more like if she thought he was a nice guy who she new she loved as a friend and maybe had a chance of actually falling for him like she should. Then the way she behaved when they were together, hot and cold and usually only hot when not sober, seems like she still isn’t feeling how she should with him but willing to try when she isn’t straight minded. And then finally ending it after they have sex, realizing she’ll never feel the way she should, it all seems like someone trying to understand themselves and realising their sexuality. In addition to this… the scenes with Sarah in season 1?? Idk I immediately got flirty/fancy vibes. I also think it has the chance to give great representation to a wide audience as we would get to see her journey from perhaps before she even started questioning her sexuality.

Then other options for Kie is for her either to be alone or a third party to become her love interest. Both of which would be good options as her being alone would give her the chance for more storylines centering her which don’t rely on her as ‘the girlfriend’. Introducing someone new could also be interesting because, firstly she’d need a bit more of an independent story to meet them, also it would be interesting to see how the other pouges behave around Kiara meeting someone and how they would be with her trying to introduce them into the group.

JJ and Pope wise I have mixed opinions on. Personally, I would love a JJPope storyline. From the first episode I saw such romantic chemistry and honestly believed they were building up to a JJPope endgame. I think it very easily could be written in and once again would be great representation for the audience as neither of them are very camp or ‘stereotypical’ mlm. Also I believe they balance each other really well, JJ is the heart and Pope is the head. I could go on a long rant about them but thats for another post.

But I also believe the writers could go really well in other directions. For JJ I believe either leaving him alone or having him fall for a kook. Having him alone fits for his character as he has never seemed particularly fussed about relationships and the pouges are very much his found family from the beginning and I can’t see him wanting to mess with that in anyway. But having him end up with a kook could be really interesting as he is always one of the first to hate a kook just for being a kook and maybe seeing him somehow meet a kook and spend time with them and going from immediately hating them to slowly starting to fall for them till eventually his fully in. I also think it would be a way to see into a normal kooks life (one whose parents aren’t treasure obsessed murders) and how they treat kook x pouge relationships. I know we see a little insight with Topper and his friends into this but that has the bias of Sarah breaking up with him ect.

Pope wise I’m not too sure what direction they should go with him romantically. Currently I believe JJ or no one at all, but the way last season ended it was maybe implying the build up to a relationship with Cleo which I don’t really like the idea of. That isn’t because I don’t like Cleo because she has joint Pope in my spot of favourite character but more because I don’t see the dynamic working as a couple. I could see them being absolutely amazing best friends and I would really love to see it but relationship wise I don’t see it working out. I would go into it but I don’t have it completely organized in my mind yet, I may do another post into an explanation as to why I’m against it (but I don’t think it’s a bad ship and have no problem what so ever with people shipping it). I think at this point in Pope’s life a relationship is unnecessary and not something he would want, instead I believe he would be focused on trying to get his families cross back and sort out life for him and his friends.

6 Anti LO Asks

1. theres also an issue in the fact they're both kings AND ceos? like in what capitalism dystopia are they in where your unelected leaders also control all the businesses that you have to rely on to survive and pay into? it makes no sense. in a modern context like LO wants to be, it should have had them just be CEOS, since by a modern POV royalty are just figureheads, but a CEO is far more powerful.

2. the modern take of LO isnt necessarily bad, but i dont think its handled well. fantasy combined with tech is often fun, and a lot of "modern god" takes can be really entertaining (ex: that post about hades trying to win back cerberus from a stubborn little girl) but the way LO handles it is very lacking. the tech replaces almost all the fantasy (VHS tapes as memories is stupid), which makes the times it actually does use magic/power it seems random and out of place. it hinders instead of help.

3. Once i was telling someone why I don't like Lo couple( power dynamics, only physical, perse immaturity ect...)

Their response was : " But this is an ADAPTATION of the myth so it is normal that is different  from the original " but i never mentionned or compared to the myth.

And they also that Persephone 19 was not Rs fault because it is based on the" actual myth and Hades is older that her "

...yes Hades is older ( not the same generation) but :

- She is  a "young" Woman Between 20 and 30 she is not depicted as a teenager like her brother Plutus or some representation of Ganymedes.

- They are gods and every person who did a adaption had follow that princip and so they made Persephone older for the mortal but still young for the gods( her having 100+ years old against  400 years old)

4. I just want to know why fertility is such a big deal

And I don't mean Persephone being a fertility goddess or any other fertility goddess before her

I mean, why it's so important the fact that Hades wants a family, I get that it can be somethimg to show how opossite they are, but literally right after Hades broke up with Minthe he dreamed about having a child with Persephone (someone he just met about two o three days top) and it's also mentioned often, like, she's 19 (or at lesst, looks 19, she looks and acts more like a teen than a young adult) , he just met her, and honestly he has more sexual attraction to her than a romantic atraction and that's just weird 🤨

5. i dont get RS's color reasoning. she says purple is the most sexual color to her, but then wouldt that make artemis more sexual that aphrodite? then she says she wants where theyre most comfortable for them to blend into their surroundings, but wouldnt that mean persephone doesnt fit in the underworld? and then she says more harmonious couples are the same or similar colored, so hxp arent harmonious? they actually clash? theres no shame in admitting you picked colors you liked and thats it.

6. I think part of the reason too that LO feels so off is that, and hear me out, it seems kinda ... jealous.

By that I mean,m a lot of people, and assume someone like Rachel, “relate” to hades in the idea they’re also the unpopular people who don’t “fit in” to the more popular and out there people, like the Olympians are to hades. You see this all the time in how they demean the big 12 as not being “worthy” of hades’ inclusion, how he’s so much “better” to not get involved in their affairs, how he’s so “loyal” and has the “best” relationship (you know, ignoring he had to abduct/sexually assault Persephone to get a wife and still cheated on her anyway), among other things. Because people relate to him, they have to make him better than everyone else to make themselves feel better.

LO basically plays right into this idea but turns it up to a 100. Hades has to be the most desirable man, unlike Zeus and Poseidon and Apollo who are all gross skeezebags who no woman actually wants. He has to be the most powerful king in both wealth and physical power, he could easily be king of olympus, but he’s too good for it. He has to have all the actual sympathy and emphasis put on his trauma, because apparently Poseidon didn’t go through anything? Or anyone else? He has to have all the important friendships and family relationships because of course he does, it’s not like his loneliness wasn’t an important factor to wanting a wife or anything. Persephone has to be the most perfect and hottest and most powerful goddess too, because of course he gets the best wife, not like poor Hera or irrelevant amphitrite. I could go on.

They’re Greek gods, we don’t have to Stan them or tear them down to make one’s fave look better, but I guess that’s what happens when someone like Rachel only consumes these myths through the pop culture lens of western “relatability” instead of actually caring about the culture or context.  You can’t self insert on a god. You’re not that important.

Good Trouble Finale...

Okay I liked that episode. It had all the elements to make a good finale, it fit the tone of the show, and it got us ready for the next season. It wasn't the best but I did really appreciate it. Anyone else think they did multiple cliffhangers so they could gage how the audience would want to see these plots end before actually writing an end lol?

First things first the Callie plot

Judge Wilson!!!! I'm so glad they brought him back to call out Callie in the dream sequence in the courtroom. It was so good. His speech. Roger Bart's delivery. The emotional impact and Maia's performance. It was a great scene and the perfect scene for both characters.

On to her actual plot. Why didn't they tell us the verdict? This whole season has been building on this case. If one thing needed to be resolved by the finale it should have been this. Also they brought up Jerrod but once again provided us with no updates!

It's interesting how all of Jamie's character development has been off screen. Like is it too much to ask for some of it to happen in front of us? It doesn't even need to be in front of Callie? Like we can just see him doing something or learning something outside the courtroom.

If all this is building to Jamie and Callie starting a firm together I would be here for it. But only if Callie takes in the message of actually listening to other people sometimes. It is important to fight but if you dont hear what others are saying how can you fight?

Callie needs to learn not every case is some big fight to change the system case. The justice system works best when both sides have decent legal representation and yes we live in a world where that rarely happens. And juries are rarely actually impartial. But Callie is a lawyer. She's not a politician and she's not a judge. She thinks she is morally superior to everyone around her and I'm so tired of it. I really hope the dream sequence finally pushes her into some character growth.

As for her and Gael I've always disliked them as a couple. In every season before this she has treated him like a second choice and never given him the support he deserved. Everytime she went to him it was because of a fight she had with Jamie or Mariana. It kinda felt like he was finally just returning the favor this season lol. Also like I said before I actually kinda like Isabella and I'm excited to see where Gael goes when he isn't attached to a bad love triangle plot.

TBH at this point I'd rather see Jamie and Gael be happy then actually try to work things out with Callie lol. They both seem to be in better places without her and she needs sometime without a guy.

The Mariana plot

Okay I hate it here. I know the message is friendships come first but like wtf the girls were really horrible to Mariana. It's really shitty that lady... jackie? stole the app idea and idk what I wanted from this plot but the fight club girls deciding to be friends with Mariana again just wasnt it. They treated her like shit all season. Also there were more of them at the start of the season lol. Also Jackie and Evan working together like wtf. Evan was a decent guy nothing in his character makes me think he would be the type of person to be vindictive after a break-up... this feels all sorts of weird and unnecessary. Even if they end it with him choosing to help Mariana I can't see this plot actually doing anything exciting tbh. Mariana is my favorite character and this plot is already exhausting, I have a feeling it's only going to get worse from here. Overall this was the worst plot of the season and I'm not happy to continue it into next season. I just want Mariana to be happy lol.

The Dennis plot

I love it. The truck connecting back to his past trauma and healing process is 10/10. The way he is finding a passion is 10/10. Overall 10/10 lol.

The Davia plot

Also mostly good. Again they chose a cliffhanger when in reality they didn't need to? I think if you dedicate an entire season of a show to a question and have the character (or a jury lol) come to decision in the finale and then choose to not tell the audience it cheapens the whole experience and drags a plot passed its expiration date. If you want a plot to end in a cliffhanger thats fine but this isn't a cliffhanger... this is just cutting out audio that should naturally be there... for the sake of creating fake tension. Doing it once is bad enough but twice in the same episode felt personal lol.

The Malika plot

Ah Malika and the only cliffhanger that actually works. Isaac. I love Isaac. Like he's amazing and I love him so much. I really liked how their plot was focused on Malika exploring how a Poly relationship could be/is right for her. The whole plot is really well done. If she decides she wants to be monogamous with Isaac I'd be okay with that as long as it is a well written thing focusing on her choices and not his. I also wouldnt mind if Isaac and her get closure and he moves on. I think him deciding to be poly could work but I also think he made it clear that isn't really what he is looking for. Maybe an open relationship or something like that could work for them? Idk exactly but I'm very excited to see where this all goes and I'm confident the writers will do right by these characters.

More exciting is her work/activism plot. It's clearly going to cause problems with her and Dyonte but honestly Dyonte and his personality is my least favorite part of the Malika plot lol. He reminds me of Speech from the band Arrested Development. That probably isn't a fair comparison and probably makes no sense but it's the vibe I get. I like Angelica and I hope her ex/friend is a good person. I have high hopes for this plot and I really hope GT doesn't let me down. Lol watch this be the worst plot next season and Mariana be the best just because I predicted the opposite.

The Alice plot

This was the one with the most consistent writing IMO. It wasn't perfect. They had some weird character choices/build with Alice's comedy group And honestly they could have cut the program down to like four finalists. All of them started to blend together anyway. I think bringing a few into the spotlight a little more would have helped balance the character choices and if one of them was to betray Alice it would have been more emotional if we actually knew them. I liked the choice to quit but it was a lot of money and a great opportunity too. It was a truly wild way to end the plot lol. As for her and Sumi... Okay so Sumi was my least favorite Alice LI, but over this last season she really grew on me and I'd be okay if they eventually found their way back to each other. For now I'm glad they are making the more responsible choice and staying friends.

Overall this finale was very much in keeping with the themes and choices the show tends to make. But it was 90 minutes long and didn't answer any of the big season long questions. It was a really well made episode though and I liked watching it.

- i actually liked drew. im so sorry to everyone who hates her but full offence, why. think about it this way ok, first of all drew became hc because silena died. silena was the traitor, the one who betrayed chb, yet after she died campers celebrated her as a hero? and then drew suddenly has to replace her and live up to idk that legacy she left behind,, when all of a sudden this girl named piper swoops in and takes her place. idk abt u but i wld be salty abt that too. not only that, but as an asian, the chances of drew having faced racism/bullying as a child is pretty high (she studies at brooklyn academy). which means that when she finds out shes a demigod, and arrives at chb where most of the campers are white (this is an assumption btw), she’d obviously be scared of being bullied for her skin color right?? so the first thing she wld do before the campers get to bully her is to bully them before they can do so. (sentence structure here is wack i apologize) ofc this might not even have happened, drew could have had a perfect childhood && was a b1tch for no reason, BUT EVEN THEN HER ROLE AS A BULLY WAS PRETTY VITAL BECAUSE THAT FURTHER SHOWED THE CONTRAST BETWEEN HER AND PIPER,, HIGHLIGHTING PIPER AS A HERO//GOOD CHARACTER,, AND THEREFORE MAKING READERS LIKE PIPER MORE. anyway stop hating on drew please. - travis and connor stoll r way too underrated. the two have been head counselors of the hermes cabin since luke was revealed as a traitor, can u imagine the stress? luke, the person they probably looked up to as a brother, betrayed them. and they didnt even have time to process this when they were  thrown the roles of being hcs. that would have been so stressful and i would probably have broken down if i were them. the stoll brothers taking turns to wake up at ungodly hours because a new camper is crying and homesick and terrified, the stoll brothers having to comfort and take care of new campers, having to deal with the amount of people in that cramped space because not enough campers are being claimed fast enough. having to resolve issues between campers in the hermes cabin all the time. the stolls arent just comedic relief, and we need to stop treating them as such

- hazel and frank (especially frank) need to be hyped up more. i hardly ever see anything about them. also yall seem to forget that frank was literally made praetor and that even hecate admired hazel and was willing to fight beside her because of how powerful she was

- frazels age gap is kinda sketch but i still think theyre really cute

- annabeth isnt smarter than leo but neither is leo smarter than annabeth. ive seen a lot of discussions about who is smarter and heres my hot take on it: neither. theyre equally smart, just in different ways. leos a genius mathematically speaking. he has no issues solving math problems meant for people much, much older than him. annabeth on the otherhand, is great at strategies etc. she can make an army of 1000 more powerful than the enemy, even if theyre outnumbered. so in my opinion, both are equally as smart//u cant compare their intelligence, because their talents lie in two different areas.

- while i do agree rick riordan isnt a god and that hes bound to make mistakes,, AND that hes given us a lot of representation,, if the representation offends the people its sposed to represent, then theres a problem. im talking about piper as a poc and wearing feathers in her hair. im not a poc, so i cant speak for them on whether or not its wrong, because i dont know either. HOWEVER, i have seen multiple posts BY pocs talking about how they didnt really like rick’s representation of piper, and thats an issue. pocs have been and are still oppressed and discriminated against by many. as a white cis man, we cant really blame him for not knowing (tho he could have done a research,, asked some pocs,, idk), but by representing pocs in that manner, hes influencing impressionable kids/teens into thinking “oh pocs wear feathers in their hair all the time” etc, which isnt true. the pjo/hoo series is extremely successful, and kids who read the books will probably start forming inaccurate opinions on pocs. the amount of fan art that depicts piper with feathers in her hair dont help either. “but rick said so in the books, so its canon” yeah well rick isnt a god and he can get some things wrong at times. im not saying we should cancel him, im saying we should start educating ourselves and not spread false info like pocs wearing feathers in their hair all the time. also that snake song shit where she sang Summertime was just- yeah. bc heres the thing you can be racist, and still include minorities, but portray them in a racist way. And even then, ignorance isn't a thing to admire. Getting those facts wrong still has a major impact. It continues to perpetuate racist stereotypes.

- the fact that most of the strong female characters in the series refuse to be “girly”, and ngl i dont really like that. just because ure girly doesnt mean u cant be strong. 

- piper would have been a great way for him to start making the strong characters act girlier, but instead he went with the “I’m not like other girls” trope which is quite obnoxious to hear constantly, and I don’t think it’s necessarily great for younger girls to read that idea growing up.  the closest we've ever had to a strong female character who was also into "girly" things was Silena. when I was younger I admired Piper's "I'm not like other girls" thing, but then I got older and realized that the whole mentality of "not like other girls" is super obnoxious, and a little bit toxic

It's great that people would be okay with whatever their bond is but i honestly don't think i would :/ i've thought about it a few times and as lgbt i know i would be very disappointed of them doing things that very ""gay"" just for giggles and shit. and yes, they do know what they're doing. whether is real or not, they know exactly what it looks like. all of bts do. and this is something that's just in my head. jin said once somewhere "not like lovers" or something like when one of the others +

hugged him from the back in a photoshoot; so they know what their actions may come across. im sorry and maybe im way too strict with stuff like that, it's just that as a lesbian i cant come out to my family and lgbt people die and get beaten everyday around the world for the same things they could be laughing/playing around with. i dont think i would HATE them but i for sure wouldnt take them seriously anymore, not as a couple and i would probably lose a bit of respect for them individually. that aside, i think the whole "support" them thing it's actually meant romantically. like, if they're not a couple then there's nothing to support. you just bias them individually. i wanted to say also that i had wandered a little into the kpop world and the fetishization made me go back the way i came in the blink of an eye. i hate when girl members do this, too. i know there's a fair amount of kpop boys and girls who are lgbt, but there's also a lot of str8s who act like being gay is for show.

Okay this is going to be a bit of a long one because it’s a complicated subject and I don’t want to word something incorrectly. 

I understand your gut reaction completely, but I think there’s a layer to my statement you might not have understood, because it’s something I’m always a bit vague about/hesitant to speak on for fear of backlash, so I’m probably at fault for this misunderstanding. I’m just going to say how I feel about Jikook, no euphemisms or beating around the bush. 

A) Yes, fanservice culture is fetishization and I agree with your reservations about it completely. I spoke on my feelings about it here.

B) I think it’s pretty undeniable that Jimin and Jungkook have an extremely intimate relationship. It’s not really up for debate. 

A moment like this doesn’t happen without an immense amount of established physical and emotional intimacy. This isn’t phony. Jungkook wouldn’t have done this in front of thousands of people (knowing it was being recorded by hundreds for millions to see) if he wasn’t already in a space with Jimin where this was an acceptable form of comfort and affection. With a few exceptions, I think most of us can agree that this isn’t regular behavior between friends, or even family. It’s something (typically) reserved for lovers. It’s not my place to say what they are to each other, but this does not fall under normal standards for Korean skinship. 

So with all this being said, I think that it’s pretty clear that what we’re supporting is ‘real’, though I hate to use the term because it implies that other relationships between members aren’t real or genuine, which is not what I mean.  What I mean is that we chose to support Jikook because we saw REAL interactions there that don’t fall in line with typical ‘friend’ behavior, and we want to support this. 

When I say that if Jikook end up dating other people, we should support them anyway, it’s not because I don’t think what they have is special or tangible or ‘real’ in my eyes. But rather because they’re in a really complicated situation with a 1000 more variables in their relationship than even normal, non celebrity people have to deal with. Whether they’re just extremely intimate friends or more, they aren’t faking this for fanservice. It’s genuine interaction. As you said yourself, it’s one of the things that makes BTS stand out from your regular Kpop group. They don’t fake shit for fanservice, they embellish what’s already there. 

And I’m sorry, but the example I showed above may have started as fanservice, but it evolved into something beyond fanservice halfway through. 

My point about them having variables is that though clearly their relationship is extremely special and unique and full of love, they themselves are in a tough situation. You mention being a lesbian and not being able to come out, and how people around the world are attacked and murdered for being gay, and fanservice feels like a mockery to you. But remember- they live in this same harsh world we do. They live in South Korea, where being gay is still very much a taboo topic and by no means accepted by the general public. Gay marriage is not legal for them, there’s been almost no REAL representation in the media until extremely recently, and this is the culture they grew up in. Knowing what we know about their relationship, they’re in the same boat as you. They, if they are gay, can’t come out- they’re South Korea’s pride- they represent the entire country internationally. The amount of pressure on their shoulders is unimaginable. They are expected to be perfect, by Korea’s standards. Being gay does not fall within those standards. Remember a few months ago when Jungkook got into a minor fender bender? Somehow it became a national scandal. A minor mishap that a majority of the human population will go through at some point in their lives was blown up into a huge event and the public ripped him to shreds for it, trying to unearth every little detail and form it into a scandal. Now imagine if it was about their sexualities. 

I think you know just as well as I do that Jungkook and Jimin’s interactions aren’t laughing and playing around with LGBT culture. There’s certainly problematic aspects to idol culture and it’s fetishization of LGBT people, but what they show us, I perceive as genuine. Whether or not they other come out as anything, or let us in on their private lives during this time period in retrospect, I think we can trust them to not have disrespected us in such a thoughtless way. Jungkook especially has proven to be a huge supporter of LGBT culture and artists. I don’t think he takes our lives as a joke.

If they end up dating other people, it could be for a multitude of reasons. Maybe they were always just extremely intimate friends, and had an agreement they could date whoever they wanted. Maybe they were friends with benefits, and again, agreed to date freely outside of this. Maybe they are in a defined relationship, and won’t date other people unless they break up. Maybe they fulfill all the actions of a defined relationship without the label, and things are uncertain between the pair even now. There’s sooo many variables and soo many ways the future could turn out. It’s impossible to know from the outside looking in.

Either way, my extremely long-winded point is that regardless of the future, Jungkook and Jimin’s actions aren’t here to make a mockery of LGBT people and queerbait. They don’t do that, and I’d like to believe they respect us as fans more than that. The way they act is genuine; there’s no faking the amount of intimacy and love they’ve shown towards each other for the camera to the extent that they have, for the amount of time that they have. 

If they date other people in the future, it doesn’t detract from the depth and meaning behind their relationship now, no matter the label.

so uhHhHhhh heres my idea for an identity v omori crossover! just because i think it would be neat

i also want to say that some character choices are gonna be taken from my friend, @/kami.rikki on instagram. but she didnt think as hard on these as i did so like idk

so as i said before, this has been on my mind for a HOT minute. and i think it would be a cool collab

for starters, this crossover will be split up (as is every other crossover) in two parts, with one hunter two survivors. i know essence usually have one hunter three survivors, but theres not enough characters for that, and six can be split up evenly sooo

i was thinking that the skins could be like the ones from the persona 5 crossover. like, they can be “awakened” in a sense. the base costumes will be the dream world versions of everyone, while the awakened costumes will be the real world versions. i wasnt here for the persona 5 crossover, so idk how many of those spirit things you had to collect, but i Do know that omoris spirit things could be. uh

well actually i dont know. initially i was thinking lightbulbs, like the one in white space, but the lightbulb isnt too important in the game i dont think? and im not sure about clams either. i know theyre dream world currency, but??

oh actually, maybe you can collect Something to awaken the costumes. because something is a representation of the truth in sunnys mind, and by awakening the costumes, you get to see the characters as their real selves. yeah lets go with that, you collect something from the essence

part one

the characters that will be present in part one are sunny, basil, and aubrey. i chose them first because. ofc, sunnys the protag, basils his best friend and helped cover up maris death hes important to the story but anyway, and aubrey is <<33 yuh

so heres whos going to be who:

sunny/omori as wu chang

so let me preface this by saying that im not a hunter main. never have been, never will be. and ive never played wu chang. but i swear thisll make sense, im doing research

wu chang is actually composed of two characters, with two different stats: xie, the white guard, and fan, the black guard. i cant tell the difference while im playing, considering the fact that my ass is either running away or decoding. but theres a difference i looked it up

sunny would be the white guard. xie is a fast chaser, but has slow attack speed. ie, slow hits, slow pallet breaking, that stuff. this reflects how sunny is in the real world. he can run, yes, but hes still physically weak due to being locked in his house for four years and spending all his time sleeping. he would be better for chasing than attacking

omori would be the black guard. fan is the opposite of xie, having slow chasing speed but faster attack speed. this reflects in omori. omori is Very apathetic, and really, i dont think he would care to chase anybody unless it was for a quest. though, i guess killing survivors Is a quest for hunters, but. anyway

in battle, omori is a good fighter. his attacks are strong, (although not as strong as say. aubrey or kel. but who am i to say, the playthrough i watched had omori constantly sad) out of him and sunny, omori would be the attacker. so theres my choice for them

the umbrella can probably be switched for a knife. maybe an elongated knife. im not entirely sure, but i know the umbrella wont stay as an umbrella

basil as kurt frank

so i know what youre thinking. why is basil “the explorer??” hear me out this is actually a really good idea

the true best choice would be emma, since shes the gardener, but idv doesnt like giving characters skins of the opposite gender if you know what i mean. anyway

basil isnt a fighter. hes an assist, yes, but that was only for a crime four years ago. not my point, he wouldnt want to be in the action

i think he’d be a really good decoder. especially a good kurt

i originally wanted him to be prisoner, out of no bias whatsoever (/j) but kurt is a good fit for him

basil hides. he hides from things. he hides from the truth just like sunny, and he hides from others. albeit he still goes outside

i will not lie, i have a very personal grudge against kurt players. i dont want them to have anything because every kurt main ive come across was toxic to me specifically. but anyway

so one of kurts abilities is that he can go smaller to run around undetected and/or hide. i find this perfect for basil, because. yknow. hiding

his other ability is to find password pages and use them to decode ciphers faster. i think this would be funny because basils existence in headspace leads sunny to remembering the truth about maris death. i mean, if he werent in headspace, omori and the gang would continue going on adventures like nothing is wrong, so basil sort of speeds up the acknowledging process

this sounds dumb actually. but it makes sense in my head

anyway, the book would be turned into basils photo album, and he wouldnt have a backpack like kurt does. theres my answer

and finally,

aubrey as margaretha zelle

aubrey was actually really hard to pick out. none of the female survivors really fit her, aside from maybe coord, but i dont know what her gun would turn into. i will admit that her section wont be as detailed as basil or sunnys. but anyway my choice is with margie

aubrey imo would be a good kiter. she has strong stats all around, so i feel as if she’d be a great fit for margie. not to mention her speed boost when falling from large heights, which would make her a faster runner and harder to chase if used right. aubrey would be more physically fit since shes a fighter and seems to do a lot of stuff with the hooligans, which also helps prove that she should be a kiter. ANYWAY

so margie has these music boxes that can mess with the hunter, right? some of aubreys attacks can mess with enemies iirc. soooo theyre kind of similar in a way, arent they?

im not exactly sure what the music box can be turned into. maybe a small piano? aubrey cares about mari a lot, and the reason shes so pissed at everyone and rebellious is because she felt like everyone had forgotten about mari and moved on with their lives. so the music box could be a tribute to mari

i dont know how many changes they made with ann tamakis costume in the persona crossover, other than cosmetics for the skin only, so im not sure if the music box was changed at all. i can dream though

in the case that its changed, the blue box could be the song from the playground in headspace (yknow the one) while the red box could be the final duet song. but just with the piano, not the violin

because yes, i thought about the essence too

of course, aside from the skins, there will be other stuff in the essence too. so itll be as follows:

for portraits, theyre going to be the neutral battle portraits from headspace. aside from basil and mari, who do not have battle portraits. theirs will just be of their neutral expressions with the neutral emotion backround behind them. i would add pictures, but the character pictures add up to six, so i’d run out of room before reaching part two

for graffiti, im not really sure. maybe everyones overworld sprites in headspace? along with maybe one of Something

for accessories, i actually have an idea of what thesell be. theyre going to be character exclusive accessories, just like how tpn did theirs

for aubrey, she’ll have mr plantegg. i was thinking of maybe having her bat as an accessory, but

OH ACTUALLY her bat could be a shop accessory that changes the music boxes!! probably an a tier tbh

anyway, the essence accessory for her is mr plantegg, and its there strictly for cosmetic purposes. for basil, he’d get either a pair of garden shears, or a basil plant, since yknow. his names basil. this is also for cosmetic purposes

they all are. i should say that now, the accessories are all cosmetic except aubreys a tier shop bat

finally, for sunny, im not entirely sure what to give him. i could give him a knife, sure, but then he’d have two knives because of the umbrella. maybe a steak? or a pair of red hands? im torn on this

mari as yidhra

so i know yidhra may seem like a weird choice. i originally thought of maybe mary, but this makes sense to me

yidhra herself will be mari. im not sure which version, but even though i have real world mari in the photo, maybe headspace mari would be better. nobody can see her anyway lmao

yidhras servants will be, again, mari, but she looks as she did when basil and sunny hung her on the tree. her hairs covering her face, with her right eye being visible. kind of like the girl from the ring, but anyway yeah

yidhra is the dream witch. she haunts your dreams and she haunts mine when i go against her. maris death haunts everyone, especially sunny and basil (whom know the truth of what happened,) so this just seems like a perfect fit

her death is “leeched” onto everyones minds (pun entirely intended), so attaching herself to survivors with only her death appearance visible is mmmm

instead of an axe, maybe her weapon can be the jump rope she was hung from? and it can be used as a whip? that makes the most sense to me idk

im not good at explaining things, but if you were to see dream witch in a match, youd know how good this would work

also brings a new meaning to “my thoughts will follow you into your dreams” HELLO

hero as norton campbell

so hero was kind of hard for me to pick too. i wanted him to be a support character, but looking around, there are. barely any that would work. my closest choice was victor, but?? the letters???? they dont correlate

hero doesnt give me kiter vibes, but nortons good at rescues too, as long as youre in an area with obstacles. and usually, when someone dies in battle, hero can make life jam to revive the fallen party member

nortons magnets are used to either bring the hunter closer to him, or push the hunter away. both can be used to stun with obstacles. while hero doesnt have any stun attacks that i can remember, he does have charming abilities that can be used to take damage for the other party members. so similar stuff? idk

i guess his magnets can be turned into chocolate chip cookies, since thats what he uses to heal everyone. if not cookies, then i dont know

oh actually one of nortons abilities is called “attract.” thats so funny if you put hero as him lmao

heros section is kind of short, my bad

kel as william ellis

come on. who else were you expecting me to use? its the basketball man as the football man

while kel is a fighter in battle, he can also be used as a backup healer. aubrey is the main fighter of the group, and hero is the main healer. so hes kind of a catch-all in a sense

kels an athlete. he plays basketball. williams an athlete. he plays football. need i say more

im not gonna lie, this is kind of a don tpn situation where it just Makes Sense that kel would be william

the football will probably be replaced with either a rubber ball or a basketball, depending on which skin youre using. the former is for headspace kel, the latter for real world kel

the buffs and debuffs for william makes sense on kel too. kel would probably have trouble with something as (probably) complex as the cipher machines, and the struggle and vaulting buffs show off his athleticisim

same with the football, using rush to rescue is such a kel thing to do

essence

for part two, there will be about the same things as part one

the portraits will be the neutral battle portraits, this time with the real world counterparts of everyone. basil and maris will be their neutral expressions on the neutral battle background. though, since mari doesnt have Real real world portraits, i guess they could use the one from the one i used on the mari yidhra picture

ok but seriously i really dont know how to answer this because like.. technically i felt ‘represented’ when i watched it and was like oh he does things i do! which id never seen on screen with a protag before (esp a gay one lol? like literally ever?) but at the same time, a lot of things about his character hit hard specifically because of his treatment from other characters in the movie and the writers themselves. by this i mean the ableism. so i dont want to say that he was ‘rep’ because saying something was ‘good rep’ sounds like giving trigger credit for something i dont think they deserve credit on (i wouldnt give trigger points for ‘gay rep’ either. i can talk more abt this if anyones curious; it has more to do with how other studios will misinterpret the action movie romance not as typical for the genre, but ‘bare minimum’ and think that if THEY try it in the same way, they’ll win themselves credit or smth- rather then how the movie wrote galo and lio and their relationship itself, because obviously generally gay people did like promare). 

i do believe they at least were somewhat conscious of what they were doing when they wrote him autistic (what remi said to him in the ova proves that pretty obviously.. not even getting into his character itself and his relationships and arc) because a lot of the time autistic characters will be written accidentally but he definitely has.. purpose.. in his writing. the explicit confirmation to me was that ova line. i already knew he was autistic but you cant insult a heavily autistic-coded character for being autistic and have it not mean something.

but anyway, because the writers basically encouraged ableist treatment of him by fans by like, the jokes abt him in the first place, it.. really is complicated to me and i dont think you can just label him bad rep or good rep, or i cant at least because it really depends on the definition you’re using of what bad/good rep is in the first place! if we’re saying good rep is something you felt represented by then yes to me he was but thats my personal opinion and thats also not something i want the studio to get credit for. or allistic writers will see me say that he was rep and go ‘oh so thats how i can treat my autistic characters and its fine :)’ which is definitely missing how all this works

to me, galo as ‘rep’ just.. gets a pass despite the treatment by the writers. because 1) him being autistic is integrated in a way that i personally resonated with and was interested in, and his traits and stims weren’t ones i’d ever really seen on screen, so i appreciated seeing those 2) the studio didnt try to frame him as good rep. like how spop crew said entrapta was Perfect Rep when she definitely wasnt. trigger never tried to say they were doing some epic powerful representation thing. they couldn’t, because that would mean admitting they treated their purposely autistic character poorly. 3) hes gay and you never see gay autistic protags so i was really happy about it 4) hes just a GOOD character. hes a good person! you don’t typically see autistic characters written like him. hes got more nuance and character and emotion than people think he does. hes actively trying to be a good person. he’s conscious of how he’s treated by people and why. i just Feel It with him man

like i said, it really comes down to personal opinion and influenced by what your definition of 'representation’ in the first place is... and not every autistic person is the same so things that i personally liked and resonated with may have been something another autistic person was frustrated to see. typically i see autistic people like galo a lot, but i have yet to see a lot of opinions on whether they think he’s REP or something. usually we’re just like “wow i love galo, go autistic king”

also you have to look at how he’s treated by the writers, and look at what other writers will do if they see you praising it. we can’t just be happy about things unfortunately we have to be like “i appreciate what you did do right, but you clearly didnt respect him as a character due to his autistic traits, which is shitty” so people dont repeat the same mistakes thinking they’re allowed to get away with it. and its a topic for another day but i think ppls concept of ‘representation’ in general is just kind of.. strange because its more like a box they can check to get more likes than it is doing anything for the actual ppl theyre representing. BUT ANYWAY. I TALKED A LOT. I THINK THIS IS INTERESTING AND I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR OTHER PPLS OPINIONS ON IT

i just finished how to get away with murder, so under the cut for in depth discussion and yes it has spoilers.

tldr; if you like murder shows and you like well written characters & plot PLEASE watch it. it’s amazing and it became one of my favorite shows in the span it took for me to finish it.

i remember first watching how to get away with murder years ago when everyone was still on the very start, around 2016 or something? and i was younger then, obviously, and it’s so much clear to me now how so much went over my head. tbf tumblr was on a OMG THIS SHOW HAS GAY CHARACTERS!!! so i think thats why i started watching it? but i ran out of episodes really fast so i dropped it, not remembering about it until years later.

now that i watched it again nd finished, i find myself being so entranced by annalises character, her qualities and faults and how it very much clearly takes a black woman to portray another black woman w the care & love they deserve. to be watching the iconic scene when viola davis takes out the wig and make up, how touching it is. to watch annalise w open and raw and angry and sensitive, watch them desconstruct the idea of the strong powerful black women stereotype but not transform her into anything she isnt. its like so so so touching and so moving.

how the plot twists, if made by any other show, would be ridiculous and a reach and over the top but htgawm makes it work. it makes sense, it rolls, it sticks. how slowly we learned more about each character, sam’s back story really really messed w me bc it did come a bit out of left field and still made sm sense. michaela as well, who is a bitch but it still is so meaningful w her background, her own past nd story nd truth.

obviously this show has a lot about the african usamerican experience, and i can only see it as an outsider, but from all the media i ever saw (as a non black foreign of course, my access to usa media is lesser than that of a native), i think this was a first that a ~~popular with the mainstream show had such a loving and careful descption of black woman not only as side characters but as the main.

i really really like shows w murders, they are my favourite thing ever, but i hate when its just the detective doing awful cop things like NO i dont care about cops! shut up about cops i dont care about cops being corrupt and doing unlawful things

and how to get away with murder hits all the spots for me. great representation is nothing without great writing, and it has both and so much more. connor and oliver are such a lovely incredible couple, nd them ending up together made me go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. so so so so so so so happy. to see annalise finally accept herself as a bisexual black woman, to allow herself to be w tegan, even for a bit, for nate to get justice... maybe not everyone got what they wanted, but what they deserved.

i dont know how i particularly feel about bonnie nd frank dying like that, but regardless it was a great ending and it was so so so so incredibly well done. i also really liked ashers and michaelas relationship as well, i thought i wouldnt but i did. very sweet. gabriel wasnt my favourite, annoying dude obsessed w his father. even though i understand why hes like that, i still think it shouldnt take two different black woman telling you a white man was awful for you to believe it so he absolutely isnt my favorite!

but the thing w this show is that even if you didnt like a character you CANT say they are badly written, bc theyre not. there isnt 1 single lose end on this end it shows

also to finish it off i LOVED the editing, the format of the episodes, the forward and backwards thing... perfect!!!!!!!!

franks whole italian mafia type of thing always felt a little corny but then when you get to the end and realises........ and then you dont stop realising....... its all a lot !!!

my thoughts on pokemon sword (and shield but like i got sword so thats where my game experience comes from) now that ive finished the game

there be spoilers below! this a really really long post too btw

first of all, omg. that was really fun actually?? i went into it expecting something awful and just a clear cash grab (but i bought it bc the pokemon company owns my soul and i’m obligated to buy a game every gen) but it was actually really well made.

there was a lot of really nice things and little details in this game that really made it a masterpiece in some regards. you can just SEE the love and care that was put into it. it breaks my heart that they obviously wanted to make something amazing but a lot of that potential got cut short by the producers/overseers. 

the colors were brighter and richer than the other models on the 3ds

the backgrounds were more detailed and actually looked like real areas you could get to

the wild area. holy shit the wild area.

some of the new move animations were really cool to watch, like pyro ball

this is controversial but i really like the interesting evolution methods?? it’s new and fresh, and you get a feeling of accomplishment once you actually evolve something

the moveable camera in the wild area was awesome

pokemon in the overworld was AMAZING. and TERRIFYING when a galvantula runs at you at breakneck speed. but it was so cute to see them just out there living their life.

textures were another hit or miss thing, but i liked most of them. some of the pokemon looked glossy, or fuzzy, or partly transparent, or matte.

the little details that didnt really add anything but once you noticed them were kinda cool to find, like square shinies or marks or ribbons (i know ribbons are an old thing but the phrases that they add)

i liked that the crowds sing along sometimes

the camping feature was adorable. ive always wanted nintendogs: pokemon version and this allowed me to live out my dreams

cooking reminded me of making poffins so thats 10 points to gryffindor

i will protect hop with my life. they really made him go through a crisis and i felt so bad when i whooped his ass :( first time ive ever felt bad for winning a pokemon battle.

no unnecessary legendaries! all of them had actual importance to the plot and there werent 400 of them

some of the pokemon designs were good, and some were outright amazing. you look at me in the eye and tell me you dont love dreepy? that eternatus isnt badass as fuck? that applin isnt adorable as shit? that you wouldnt murder for snom? thats right motherfucker

 music and ambient sounds are so good. sometimes the music cuts out in the wild area at night and all you hear are the background noises and your own footsteps ans THATS the good shit

toby fox made a song in it if that doesnt convince you the music is good idk what will

slumbering weald (the song and place) makes me feel emotions i didnt know i had. so pretty. 2nd fav pokemon song.

zacian and zamazenta were SO COOL and that final fight against eternatus made me fucking ascend i loved it

character customaziation was off the shits for this one

league cards are cool as fuck and i wish i had a real one of mine

there were some things that were just. a miss.

some of the animations were. lackluster to say the least. double kick (just bouncing in place) vs pyro ball (actually ppicking a pebble up and tossing it until it becomes a flaimg ball) was painfully obvious

textures were either really good or blurry and offset (ex: the tree everyone always talks about)

i wish there were more ways to play with pokemon when you camped. i wish there were more toys than there are and i wish i could pet my pokemon. that was one thing i really enjoyed about pokemon amie

this game is LAGGY AS SHIT if you are connected to the internet. it freezes my switch sometimes. literally cannot handle it in the wild area. and i thought sun and moon were bad.

why. in the FUCK would they get rid of the gts. literally why. y-comm sucks some major butthole and is slow as shit. surprise trade is just wonder trade with a different name and is slower

y comm never works for raid battles. ever.

why does card trading disrupt whatever you’re doing but surprise trades dont???

why were moves cut. what the fuck.

some of the towns felt so tiny. ballonlea was gorgeous but it was a pokemon center a gym and like 2 houses. they could have made that so much more amazing but it was cut short again!!

most pokemon designs were good but eiscue or whatever that penguin thing is is an atrocity and i dont like it :( which is weird bc i like most mons 

they didnt really seem like pokemon designs?? having like a gen1 next to a gen8 was pretty jarring. this is just a matter of taste so dont yell at me

everything is excruciatingly linear. the wild area feels like the only area you can actually explore. everything else feels like a hallway and this was especially evident when in the mines. there was no sense of adventure or mystery like in early gens

the story was pretty cut and dry even for a pokemon game. chairman rose was lame and it felt like they never really explained the macro cosmos thing

i wish theyd let you figure out more things on your own. it felt like they didnt listen to “show, dont tell” advice

my team was cinderace (azzie), dragapult (baby), bolthund (jax), corviknight (berdly), eldegoss (flowey), and obstagoon (nightshade). 

overall, it was pretty hit or miss, but when it hit, it hit HARD. do i recommend this game? whether youre a casual fan or hardcore or wanna get into pokemon, yeah. it had less handholding than before but enough to let newcomers know what to do. is it worth $60? maybe. that depends on how much enjoyment you get from it. main storyline is short but theres plenty of other things to keep your attention.

my final rating: 7 outta 10. it’s a good game.

Are they, are they not?

„GoodOmens“ content was flooding my dash for a while now.

At first I ignored it, but I grew more curious with every post about the show, cute fanart does that to you.

So i made an amazon prime account (thankfully there is a free month option) to check out for myself what that hype was all about:

I like bible story adaptations. Though I myself am not a believer, I love the concept of angels, demons, gods, mythical creatures, all that good stuff. Makes sweet fuel for the creativity engine.

I did enjoy the story, the story telling. I liked quite a lot of the characters. The humor. Cringed at some scenes and lines.

All in all the series was a solid 4,5 out of 5.

The big questionis: Are the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley a thing?

((Now I only watched the TV Series, never read the book. But as far as I am aware, what I could gather from tumblr posts anyway, there are quite a lot of differences, so they should be treated seperately.

What I could gather, in the book they held hands facing the Apocalypse, and at the end moved into a cottage together.

What I do know, is that in the series one of the angels that cornered Aziraphale to question him, called Crowley something along the lines of „your boyfriend with the sunglasses“.

If they arnt canon, why put a line like this in there. I mean yeah I guess its meant as harmless joke but did they really have to include that?))

- I have seen many opinions on this:

Some claim it is absolutely canon, refering to the creators confirming it in an interview.

- Others say they are just (best) friends.

- My friend told me she read an article where the creators (or one of them anyway) said that they cant be in a love relationship because celestial beings apparently dont have a concept of that kind of love. To which I call bullshit, because not only do they experience love for things like food or a bentley to the point they are „having a moment here“ when it burns down, to crying over the loss of a best friend.

Its not a huge leap from best friends to Significant others, rather its a pretty small step.

And before anyone says something along the lines „Just because they dont have sex on screen...“ yada yada. Of course they dont have to fuck to be a valid couple. I myself wish nothing more than  relationship stories that dont revolve around sex in this over sexualised world. Id love to see more Asexual rep.

I love their relationship: being fond of each others company, wanting to run off together, worrying for eachother, caring for eachother,  having fun together...but how hard would it be to say „I love you“ or hold hands while smiling lovingly at eachother. Because as cute as their interactions are, you COULD interpret it as just really close friends.

Hell, there are still a lot of people denying Korrasami (the lesbian couple from the show „the legend of Korra“), calling them gal pals and seeing their handholding and them longingly gazing at eachother as being really close friends. (disclaimer, Im not saying their relationship has been established in a perfect way with all the love triangle going on etc.)

- I read an article, where N.G said that it IS a love story, which kind of love, though, is up to the viewers interpretation. Which, to me, is one of the rudest things to say, especially as an supposed ally. What does he think have we been doing all these years? Starving for representation, the lgbt-etc community kept grasping at any ever so small hint, clinging to any for two same gendered individuals atypical interaction they could find, just to be shown the middle finger in the end.

Is it queerbaiting?

((If Im not mistaken the book and the series was written by two authors, and I dont know, to me, if its not both parties agreeing on them being gay, and only one pushing this narrative, then I wouldnt count it.

Also im not sure why he is practically begging for fanfictions. If your show is good and you have nice character you dont even have to say a thing and there are thousand fanfictions appearing every second. Mostly fetish/kink based porn fanfictions, but yeah.))

((Disclaimer: Before I get jumped, yes I know angels and demons have no gender, I am aware of that.

But they present themselves mostly as men. Sometimes as women.

So lets just say it would be a win for nonebinaries and homosexuals alike.))

Many shows like using queerbaiting to boost their views. Using interactions between two same gendered people, including romantice cues, to wake the illusion of a possible homosexual relationship, but keep it vague enough not to throw off the straight viewership.

And boy do the fish bite, just to be tossed into the grinder when the show is done and it turns out, hey those two characters were straight all along. Silly fish.

I mean, are straight people not tired of the „will they wont they trope“?

Also it bothers me how we have two celestial beings knowing eachother for thousands of years  with the potential of an enemies, to friends, to best friends, to significant others love story and get nothing (?).

But then we have two characters that literally just met, and they fuck in a storm because of a prophecy.

That scene threw me off. Did I miss something? Did they stop the storm by fucking? Also haha hes a virgin. And after that they are together.

That being said, in no way do I want to force the creators to change their characters into something they didnt envision them to be. But if you didnt plan it then stick to your actual plan and dont give people, who are starved for this kind of content, false hope so you can collect browny points and/or gain more viewers. And Im pretty sure making their interactions as gay as they are is a huge part why this show exploded so hard.

Also we should stop praising „browny point fishing creators“. (of any media)

In this case its absolutely valid to praise the creators of Good Omens for a good show, I liked the series too.  

But dont put them on the throne as saviors of the lgbt community.

((As I already mentioned, I liked the show, it was a cute little story with nice characters.

But I dont really want to invest my time and energy into supporting a noncanon pairing like I used to.

Its tiring and draining and ends in sadness. Id rather move on.))
