He finally appears by the stairs, dopey grin brightening golden eyes as you feign annoyance.

“Keeping count, beautiful? What are you, obsessed with me?”.

You playfully roll your eyes, unable to hide your own smile. He drops the box containing the christmas decorations you have collected throughout the years by your feet, then sits on the soft carpet and silently invites you to do the same with the graceful gesture of a hand.

“What are we doing?”, you comply, albeit confused, and he shrugs.

“Kinda wanted to try something different this year. Hope you won’t mind”.

Suspicion settles over your features as you furrow your brows upon opening the familiar box. Then, a surprised gasp slips past your lips and of course Keigo is smiling again, confident and smug and maybe a bit emotional. He’s lowkey hoping you’ll cry.

“Did you…? How?”, you take out each little unfamiliar ornament and inspect it, wonder exploding warm in your chest like the most colorful firework. Folded paper stars, in your favorite colors. Glass ornaments, hand painted with your names written in an elegant font. Some are hand carved, little wood figures of snowflakes, stars, hearts. There are polaroids of you two as well, the most recent one taken just the night before, in matching ugly christmas sweaters, on the couch. He’s wearing a santa hat and is hugging you from behind, lips pressed to your cheek in a sweet kiss.

“Started working on the carved ones in october”, Keigo gently takes one from your hands to examine it, “it took some time but I think I got the hang of it. D’you like them?”.

There’s an especially beautiful piece you can’t quite believe he painted himself. It instantly reminds you of Madhubani art. Keigo masterfully depicted precise geometrical patterns in so many colors: ochre, red, brown, orange, green.

“Where did you learn this?”, your fingers delicately trace the outlines.

“Your mom helped”, he grins, “we facetimed a lot. She has a friend from the Mithila region, did you know?”.

“Of course I know”, you lightly shake your head, in disbelief. Warm fingers grasp your chin and gently tilt your head upwards.

“Don’t cry”, Keigo’s smile is filled with such sincere adoration you can’t swallow the sob bubbling up from your throat. He chuckles as he pulls you into his arms, one hand rubbing your back as he murmurs just how much he loves you into the crook of your neck.

“I love them”, you choke out, “and I hate that you’re so good at everything”.

“I burned our dinner last week-”

Keigo chuckles, tenderly kisses the crown of your head.

“Wanna help me put these on, then?”.

You eagerly nod against him and he helps you get up while you wipe your cheeks with the sleeve of your sweatshirt.

Keigo holds the box full of decorations and ornaments while you pick each piece and carefully hang it on the tree with the utmost care. Then you insist on switching roles: you want him to do it too, decide what goes where. Something flutters in your chest as you watch him seriously commit to the process, teeth gnawing at his bottom lip in concentration. You know he’s taking it way too seriously, stressing over which ornament looks best next to the ones you picked.

Honestly, the tree is a mess of shapes and colors, so far from being traditional it makes you giggle when you look at it after taking a few steps back, Keigo’s arms around you and his chest solid against your back. You feel sorry for those who can’t have something as beautiful, love coiled around every single branch a unique reminder of just how lucky you are.

“It’s a bit… chaotic”, Keigo rests his chin on your shoulder, cheek grazing yours. You shake your head.

“I never want to have anything but this”, with a slight pout, you turn your head enough for your nose to graze his cheek, “I literally only got you a sweater for christmas”.

“Oh, boy. You’ll feel so bad about the tickets to Jaipur, then”.

You gasp.

“What?”.

“Merry christmas”, he grins, then pecks your lips, “I love you. Spare me that look, I won’t stop proving just how obsessed I am with you”. Keigo kisses you again, one hand cradling the back of your head to keep you there, where you can’t object nor complain, too busy accomodating the slow but steady movements of his lips. He hardly cares about his gift, he hardly cares about anything that’s not you.

But, as it happens, Keigo might just have a single, tiny request this holiday season. He hopes you will finally have it in your heart to accommodate it.

When he pulls back, his gaze is dead serious.

“Can we use something other than my action figure as our tree topper, this year?”.

You frown, still a little out of breath, mind a bit dizzy but certainly not enough to completely drop your guard.

I keep seeing fanarts of ppl's OC's being on the ship, so do you think that if there was 6st crewmember (specifically, another woman) Anya would've been more safe? Like, someone to actually call Jimmy's begaviour out, someone Anya might wanna trust? Is there a possibility something might have changed (even if a little) or it would not have mattered at all?

I feel like the game would make it part of the commentary on where she would believe and help Anya but still be sort of dismissive? Like the whole “don’t waste time crying and being scared keep going and move on, don’t let him win”. It’s supposed to be positive and reinforcing but sometimes it does more damage in those times of mourning and grief, it feels patronizing, like you don’t understand what you’re going through but they do. Even if they did call out his behavior it’s still on Curly to act and while another voice would help, it’s still 4 against 2 on guys that don’t get it until they have to vs women who always have to.

I don’t mind mouthwashing OCs but I do get a bit bored as they tend to be borderline saviors or like Jimmy aligned. They are either more complicit than Curly or just Jimmy haters for no reason, outside of what the creators know about what he did to Anya. I am never irked by OCs but in a story like mouthwashing you really need to think about what your character adds to the commentary, especially if they are there during the crash. It’s nice to have like characters on Anya’s side more whole heartedly and interesting to see characters who placate Jimmy but sometimes it’s one note.

I can’t and don’t want to police peoples OCs it’s never my intention when I comment on trends I notice, but I do feel like the way people make their OCs interact with these two characters and especially Curly, really show a grave misunderstanding of the narrative and these characters as people vs roles in the story. Still, I know people just make up characters for fun and that’s fine. Great even, but I guys I’m focusing more on OCs that are supposed to have those serious dynamics. My favs tend to be pretty-Tulpar or post-Tulpar au OCs.

The inevitably of the crash is on Jimmy. He did that not because he wasn’t stopped but because all his means to kill Anya were taken. The gun, the axe. Even if Curly did strip him of his co-pilot privileges and try to keep him contained there’s only so many people. An extra body helps but they have jobs they have to do, he’s the only one steering the whole ship and Jimmy would likely have an out: food, bathroom, etc. He’s not new and if he couldn’t crash the ship directly, who’s to say he wouldn’t sabotage something else? A clunker like the Tulpar wouldn’t take much. An extra person helps but it’s just another thing that prolongs what a person like Jimmy is willing to do to shirk responsibility.

It’s more than just needing someone to stand up to him and think that’s what is missing when it comes to inserting a character into the mouthwashing setting.

despite being a silly character with a silly story - i wanted to explore this side of their character more seriously. even if the "built by brian using stolen code/assets/parts and he somehow managed to succeed" story came from a *inside joke* - it's been grounded as a genuine canon.

i always established they don't like him - but imagining reasons why as a "failed creation who went out of line" when their whole thing is being weird and out of the line is what lead me to drawing this. even if brian is deep down, a silly internet loser, frostbite suppressing their feelings made him quite scary to them.

So much happened in so few chapters, how do I even break this down?!?

First off, Colin had better stop fucking bonding with my daughter! And apologizing and making amends for past wrongs! I'm a huge fan of redemption arcs and second chances and that is being used against me! JUST LET ME HATE THIS MAN!!!!!!

The only problem I have with the Las Vegas Wards actions is hiring Bambina to break Pretender free. Otherwise ya, fucking ditch the Protectorate. Given the information they have it makes sense.

I did like seeing more of the mechanics of the Yàngbǎn after getting hints about how they work in the Lung interlude.

The power sharing plus the power amplification is a pretty broken combo tbh. Feels like there is some pretty neat stuff that could be accomplished with that.

My Thoughts on Impulsiveness and Carelessness of Sejanus Plinth

There is no doubt Sejanus is smart but he has a big fatal flaw. He is an impulsive, self-destructive teenager who feels so much guilt that sometimes has no regard for those he could possibly hurt with his actions. Sejanus' guilt of being able to live a quality life in the Capitol made him want to compensate by being loud about how he hates being there.

He's compassionate and cares for his fellow districts, yes, but ultimately he feels guilty.

When he failed to connect with Marcus, he wanted, then, to give up or exchange tributes to lessen his guilt (cuz at least it wasn't someone from his district or one he knows).

If Coryo had taken his offer of exchanging tributes, would he have done what it takes to save her? Would he cheat? Ally with other mentors? Kill another tribute? Would he have stomach having appeal to the horrendous sponsors? Would he be willing to give her poison to kill other tributes? Would he create a thesis of new horrendous rules and spectacle that would give her advantage inside the arena like the betting and sponsor system? Or would he not participate at all and leave Lucy Gray to her whims aside from perhaps feeding her before the games?

When he entered the arena, he did not think what would happen to his parents, to his mother, to anyone associated with him. In the Arena, he laments about his father buying his way into power and how they left district 2 and how guilty he is about having to be safe. He didn't think that power, that money, that buying could make changes.

Sejanus wanted to become a medic, he wanted to help, he wanted to end the suffering but he didn't think that ambition takes time and takes more than gut, but also ruthlessness and efficiency. He has to stomach horror and morally grey actions.

Sejanus was careless in 12, he knows the reaping in 12 was rigged He knows Billy Taupe is with the Mayor's daughter who got Lucy Gray reaped. So associating with him is dangerous especially when he wants to break rules and help people in the district.

Sejanus and Coriolanus witnesses what happens to rebels in the district (Arlo Chance) and those associated with them (Lil). He is always with him. Coriolanus witnessed Sejanus drawing maps and out in the open, conspiring with Billy Taupe, the very day he and Lucy Gray reunited, even Barb Azure witnessed and knows what they were doing.

so it wasn't really hidden. Sejanus knows Coriolanus lurks and Coriolanus already knows he is doing some kind of trouble. It's just that Sejanus promised he'd stop for his sake but lying about it made Coriolanus even more paranoid.

Coriolanus is smart as well, thinking of the worst possible outcomes is his biggest hobby, he said so himself in chapter 1 but he is stressed and anxious for a month now. He is paranoid that hecould die by being associated with Sejanus so he snoops into Sejanus' stuff only for his fears to be affirmed.

Sejanus goes with Coriolanus everytime they go to the covey because he is the only one in the peacekeepers who knows Coriolanus and Lucy Gray's relationship. He is always with him and he is conspiring with rebels, Billy Taupe of all people, that could get Coriolanus hanged even if he won't do anything. And even if Coriolanus didn't tattled with the Jabberjay and followed Sejanus to Spruce, Mayfair would still be there and would have tattled or Spruce would have shot her and would have doomed them both.

Sejanus is a compassionate and kind boy who has the potential to be so clever and perhaps even become some one who could have helped aid the rebellion. He may be district and knows their plight but he is also a rich boy who never had to grow up, scraping to survive. He had his father protecting him so he never got to be as afraid for his life and be careful with it the way Lucy Gray and Coriolanus have to. He wants to be the hero, the doer, not dreamer. But it seems like he can't handle or don't know that he had to walk through burning coals to get results.
