The Gender Tag
1. How do you self-identify your gender, and what does that definition mean to you?
I identify as transmasculine genderfluid. That means that my gender is fluid, like one day I could be agender and the next I could be male but I tend to stay on the male side of things. So I only feel male, demiboy, masculine androgyne and agender. I very VERY rarely will be a demigirl.
2. What pronouns honor you?
He/him or they/them.
3. Describe the style of clothing that you most often wear.
I like to wear my binder. During the summer I wear male shorts and loose t-shirts, occasionally a skirt and men's shirts. During the fall/spring I like sweaters, jeans, graphic tees. During the winter I wear women's boots or men's gym shoes, flannels, beanies, and my leather jacket.
4. Talk about your choices with body hair. How do you style your hair? Do you have facial hair? What do you choose to shave, or choose not to shave?
I don’t like body hair on myself, I think it’s ugly on me so I shave my legs and armpits. I don’t need to shave my face since it is hairless. I have short hair that is normally dyed black or purple. I can and will put it in a man bun but most of the time it is flipped to over the left side of my face with gel and hairspray in it since it’s curly and if I don’t put anything in it it will cause havoc.
5. Talk about cosmetics. Do you choose to wear makeup? Do you paint your nails? What types of soaps and perfumes do you use if any?
Sometimes I wear black eyeliner and mascara. I’ll only wear a full face of makeup if it’s a special occasion. Sometimes I paint my nails black but mostly because I like to peel off the nail polish.
6. Have you experienced being misgendered? If so, how often?
Everyday.
7. Do you experience dysphoria? How does that affect you?
My dysphoria kills me every day. I hate having a chest and such a round face. My hands and feet are super small. Kill me. I hate my voice and the length of my eyelashes. Ugh.
8. Talk about children. Are you interested in having children? Would you want to carry a child if that were an option for you? Do you want to be the primary caretaker for any children you may have?
I really really want kids, like ones I give birth to. I want to have a baby (or babies) and then get top surgery. I really want children, I always have. It is extremely important for me to provide for my future family and to be their primary caretaker. It’s one of the main things that I look forward to for the future. 9. Talk about money. Is it important for you to provide for a family financially if you choose to have one? Is it important to you that you earn more than any partner you may have? Do you prefer to pay for things like dates? Are you uncomfortable when others pay for you or offer to pay for you?
I would like to be able to provide for my family but I would like for my partner(s) and me to earn equal pay and switch off on paying for things.
10. Anything else you want to share about your experience with gender?
I identified as a transmale for three years before coming out as genderfluid.
