Maugrak turned her head a bit and said with a calm voice:

"Listen Shurgan, I know the hygiene is poor here, but you are on a pilgrimage. You are expected to show kindness to all people, especially the poor and sick who cannot take care of themselves. And most of those people happen to live here, in the slum."

He, along with others, is taken on a pilgrimage by Sister-Knight Maugrak (a member of the Order of Mortimus) to atone for past mistakes.

Since Shurgan is an arrogant noble who is used to a life of luxury, he is now having a hard time adjusting to his role as benevolent helper of the common folks....
