I love that in one Juju Stroll (episode 20), Yuji is indecisive about whether he's a cat or dog person.

It's something that makes sense with his character because Yuji is both.

His last name is a medical herb that is also called "tiger cane" and his nickname from back home is "Tiger of West Junior High". Nobara's icon for him (see in episode 6 of season 2) is a tiger.

Also, just throwing in there, those markings under Yuji's eyes remind me of those markings that be under a tiger's eyes.

Then there's a white wolf resembling Yuji.

Yuji pets the white Divine Dog when Megumi summons it and dies the same day as it. Later, he's envisioned as a white wolf in his final confrontation with Mahito.

Assigning pets to Arcane characters because I got bored

Jinx would have bugs. I think she’d really like jumping spiders. She makes a really fancy enclosure for them that’s like a mini playground and her hideout is covered in the cobwebs they make. They’re very small but also very clever, and she respects that about them.

I think Viktor and Jayce would like rats. I hc that they used rats while testing the hexgate prototypes but they got really attached to them and ended up naming them, and they eventually took them home with them when they didn’t need to do animal trials anymore. Technically, Viktor named the rats because Jayce is shit at naming stuff. It’s a running joke that they have joint custody of them.

Vi would have a really bitchy cat that hates everyone but her. She picks up an injured stray thinking she’s giving it a comfortable place to die, only for it to survive and stick with her. She gets very attached very quick snd it helps her look after herself a little more. It hangs out on her shoulders a lot. It would have a name like trash or scrap or something similar, a nickname that ends up sticking.

Caitlyn’s family has always had hunting dogs. Maybe spaniels. When she was young, she spent a lot of time training them (she taught them how to high five, she’s very proud of that). She tries to be strict with them but the puppy eyes make her cave very quickly. They often follow her around the house and she lets them sleep in her room despite the amount of fur they shed.

I can imagine Mel raising butterflies and/or moths. She always liked bugs, but her mother always dismissed them as pests, so she started to keep them out of spite but it grew into a very genuine love. She’s got a very pretty terrarium for them that has live plants in it. She enjoys the upkeep of the terrarium as much as she loves the moths. She enjoys watching them and often lets them fly wherever they please. They bring her a lot of peace, and she feels a lot more relaxed around them. She’s got a lot of paintings dedicated to them.

Ekko has a chameleon. It was someone’s exotic pet that they dumped, he found it and decided to take it in despite knowing very little about them. He did a lot of research on it and how to look after it. He builds its enclosure himself but he often lets it loose on the tree in his hideout. All the Firelights know it and keep an eye on it when Ekko is away. When he’s there, it’s often chilling on his shoulders.

hear me out but. vet (as in. animal vet) ghost w soap who has a very embarrassing crush on him, and gets the very smart idea to ask him out by pretending his dog's sick so he can go and see him

except he never quite finds the courage the first few times

so he just. keeps going back. with this animal that is very well cared for and absolutely loving life at the vet's, whilst johnny keeps fumbling over his words and never quite managing to explicitly ask ghost out

(he eventually musters up the courage. ghost is very charmed and pretending he isn't. bonus points if soap's pet somehow managed to get them into a fluster-y moment. ye classic rom com lead ties two people up moment.)
