Hellooo, I have a question about Billford in your au.
how do they get a chance to get together if both Mabel and Stanley are keeping a sharp eye on them, and forbidding them of any romantic relationships?
They are NOT keeping a sharp eye on them.
Mabel has identified Bill as a needy ex, and is determined to get him to move on—but like, he's gonna be dating around town! She's gonna meet a couple of the people he goes out with! (We're using the word "people" really loosely here.) And Bill's attitude toward Ford has evolved from "hey buddy, don't you wanna be buddies again, buddy??" to "if you don't like me then why bother." So getting Bill to move on is totally working, right?
(I DO still need to edit a couple scenes in some early chapters for TBOB compatibility on this front—but that basically only means Mabel's going from "I need to help Bill make new friends and keep him away from Ford so he won't be a jerk toward him" to "I need to help Bill make new friends and keep him away from Ford so he won't be a jerky ex toward him." Either way, she's mostly concerned about Bill being a jerk.)
Stan has realized Ford's weirdly obsessive over Bill... but not THAT kind of obsessive. It's like "interview him about his species while vivisecting him" obsessive. Like so. Ford gets like this about stuff! Stan might not have a damn clue what autism is but he sure as hell has seen his brother's special interests! He tried to kill that triangle for thirty years, this obsession is not coming from a place of love. He's worried about Ford—but he's NOT worried about romance.
As a bonus, the two of them DIDN'T have a past relationship—they're not actually exes, they just spent the 80s being weirdly homoerotic—so there's no grounds to worry that they might "get back together." Bill's current feelings on Ford are more mixed; but at this point in the fic, Ford honestly, genuinely, truly hates Bill with no romantic interest.
Plus, once romance creeps onto the table, Ford thinks "if anything happens between Bill and me, my family would never forgive me (and I'd never forgive myself)" and Bill thinks "if anything happens between Ford and me, the Pines would murder me, and that might not be hyperbole." They'll be motivated to downplay their feelings for each order before feelings even start to happen.
Bill & Ford tend to clam up around each other or only have shallow surface-level conversations when other people are around. When they DO have serious heart-to-heart discussions they trip and stumble into them when no one's listening. (They keep having serious conversations at midnight, usually in the kitchen. It's happened like, what, four times so far?) This is gonna continue in future chapters. Oh, boy is it gonna continue.
So during this time period, as far as anyone else knows, on a scale of 0 = sheer loathing to 10 = passionate love, Ford's feelings for Bill go from 0 to 2 and Bill's feelings for Ford go from 3 to 1.
It doesn't help that their idea of flirting is "spend an entire day arguing about whether or not Minnesota exists and compromise by agreeing the backs of dollar bills are blank. Tell no one how this is a compromise." This is some kind of shrimp romance.
(This is an actual upcoming chapter, and I wrote it like a week before TBOB came out where Bill has a whole paragraph about how Minnesota doesn't exist. Originally the chapter was about Wyoming. I still think Wyoming works better than Minnesota but I'm tickled "Bill claims a state doesn't exist" is canon.)
Add that all up? And by the time anyone realizes something's going on—IF anyone realizes something's going on—they've been licking each other's eyeballs and roleplaying erotic deicide for weeks.
(This is a slight exaggeration. Only Bill's into eyeball licking.)

Can we have kalim's ending for the yuu auction as well? I was pretty excited for his outcome
of course of course!
parts 1 | 2 | 3 | kalim | bad ending
summary: a kalim ending type of post: short fic characters: kalim additional info: yuu is gender neutral, this is maybe a little short, hi kalim :)
"Problems don't just go away when you throw money at them, you know," Vil says. The tone of his voice is sour, and he's making no effort to hide it. "You'll have to actually take some responsibility."
Leona rolls his eyes. "Oh, shut it. They're not a pet, they can handle themselves. You're just butthurt it wasn't you,"
"And yet, here you are, still moping just the same," he snaps back. "Kalim, congratulations. I'm sure the prefect will- where'd he go?"
Despite their best efforts, Kalim hadn't heard a single word of the other housewarden's well wishes (and warnings).
He was gone before they'd even started, in fact.
Even with all he'd had prepared beforehand- the new room, the uniforms, all of your favorite foods- there was suddenly a list a mile long on his mind.
First, he had to get you.
Then, he had to show you around your new place.
Then, dinner.
Followed by dessert, of course.
(Maybe a light appetizer to start? Why hadn't he thought of that already?!)
And then he'd treat you to an evening of your favorite songs, laughter, and fun.
So on, and so forth.
Kalim may be a little oblivious at times, but your poor condition at Ramshackle is no secret to anyone. He'd been talked out of helping more than once before- and, so, this was his chance.
The gravity of technically owning a person who doesn't legally exist in this world hasn't crossed his mind even once. The way he sees it, he gets to host you indefinitely, take you on vacations with his family, treat you to the life you deserve after all you've done for everyone, and no one can tell him no.
Though, something still sits in the back of his mind, something that asks him to walk before running. A voice of reason.
If Kalim had a shoulder angel and devil, both of them would somehow be Jamil:
"I would advise taking it easy on them as they adjust. This whole spectacle must have been difficult for them. You're a good listener when you try. Now's a chance to show that,"
More than anything, Kalim wants to impress you.
Such a thought would make anyone else scoff- the gold and jewels and magic carpets aren't enough?
And his answer would be... well... no.
Kalim possesses many things. He has entire houses full of treasure, trinkets, fine silks, servants at his every whim... and yet, he's still missing something crucial. Something he's become more and more aware of since coming to NRC.
A bond.
Of course, he loves his siblings. And his parents. And the students in Scarabia. And the students in the other dorms. He might consider all of the above friends, but not at the emotional level he seeks. Jamil is a work in progress. But you- you're already well-acquainted, and friendly. You're a gracious guest, a great listener, and... well, you had the kind of bond he looks for with so many other people on campus.
Why else would everyone be lining up to pay to be your friend otherwise?
(That's how he saw it, anyway).
So, he listens. Makes an effort to, anyway. He even stops feeding Grim at dinner when you ask him to.
"Oops!" he says, offering the direbeast a gold-lined handkerchief to wipe around his mouth. "But it's good, right? Jamil's family recipe is always delicious!"
You quirk a smile at him. "I liked it. Grim?"
Grim mumbles something indistinct and crawls to sit on the other side of you.
"I'm glad! I remember you telling me that you miss it from your home- I can't believe some of our recipes are so similar!" he beams. "Maybe Scarabia will start feeling like a home to you, too, then!"
You laugh, a little awkwardly. "Aha... maybe. This is all just so sudden,"
"But... good, right?"
"Yes, good," you smile, tilting your head to the side. "It's a step up from being Crowley's errand-runner and sleeping in the cold, at least."
"Well, you'll certainly never be cold here!"
He laughs again, and a murmur of agreement ripples through the students in attendance, all the way down to the end of the long table.
"Ah... Kalim, this is nice. Really nice... I don't know how I'm going to repay you for any of this,"
"Pay? Like with money?" he raises an eyebrow. "You're my guest, and an honorary member of Scarabia now, so you don't have to do anything but relax."
That's not exactly what you meant, though you don't have the heart to explain what exactly Crowley's care had been like.
"...Right. But really, if you need anything done- I'll be glad to do it,"
He's quiet for a moment, thinking. "Well... if you're really bored, I'm sure you could find something to do. We have lots of board games,"
"No, I meant like, work,"
Kalim blinks. "Why would you have to work?"
You should've just let it go. Now this is getting embarrassing, admitting all that Crowley had you do when you had no say in the matter.
"You know... to earn my keep,"
"Earn your..." he squints. "You don't have to earn anything. Having you here is reward enough for me!"
Sometimes his oblivious nature can be a little comforting.
And even though it's dark, his positivity is as radiant as the sun... you can't help but return his smile.
"Alright, then,"
"Alright! Now..." he says, looking around the table. "Who's ready for dessert?"

I wish this was longer but death goes by faster than you think.
------------------------------------------
Lucifer thought it was a myth, you know, the idea that life flashes before your eyes when you're dying.
But as he recalls everything that happened since the beginning beginning, he wonders if he is reliving it all in a loop. Can a memory experience it as well? Can a memory exist within a memory? He doesn't know if he's just a copy of a copy, and that thought terrifies him.
But this feels real. Dying, that is.
Roo: You were always so arrogant.
A voice echoed somewhere. It was Roo, appearing suddenly like she always does.
Arrogant or misunderstood? Lucifer replied internally, voice laced with a hint of weariness.
Roo: Does it matter now? You're dying, fallen. Even you cannot cheat fate.
Oh Father, this is really happening. He's really going to die; just when he found new people to care about, someone to love again, and reconnected with his daughter—he's going to leave them. Leave Alastor. The Sins. God, Charlie.
He wants to spend the rest of eternity making her happy. He wants to tell her more stories of his good times in Heaven and Eden. To teach her how to properly use her powers. To watch her fulfill her dreams. Damn it, he wants to see her get married. To walk her down the aisle. To welcome Vaggie to their family. He wants to be there for every laugh, every tear, every triumph, and every setback. He longs to witness every precious moment of her life unfold.
It'snotfairIt'snotfair!It'snotfairIt'snotfair!It'snotfairIt'snotfair!It'snotfairIt'snotfair!
He wants to spend one more moment with Alastor. To kiss him. To hug him and never let go. He wants to find another stupid Marigold in every corner for him to find. He wants to hear Alastor's voice, to share in his laughter, to feel the warmth of his presence. He wants to be selfish and let Hell be destroyed—just please, 'Dad, please I just want to live one more day!'
He yearns to see Earth's sun rise one more time, to feel its warmth on his face as he sits on it's grassy plains. To share another meal, another conversation, another fleeting second of joy. He wants to hold onto the fragile, beautiful moments that made life now worth living. The thought of leaving now, of abandoning this newfound happiness, is unbearable. He’s desperate, clawing at the very fabric of existence for one more chance, one more breath, one more heartbeat.
How will Alastor learn to love again? How will the Sins cope with losing the person who raised them, who gave them their everything? How will Charlie-
How will Michael and the others...
But it's not them who he calls out to. Because he's also once a child. And like a child in their time of need, he calls out to his father.
'Father! Please! I need you! Don't let them take me yet, DAD PLEASE!'
Lucifer wants to scream it all out, but he only spits out blood as the sword of his older brother impales him right in his heart. For a moment, he thinks it is Michael holding the sword—that he has betrayed him again.
The relief he feels when he realizes it is the exorcist who just stabbed him almost makes him forget what's happening.
Almost.
Lute pushes the sword further into him and twists it. Shit! It hurts like a bitch. He could probably destroy her now, but he's honestly too shocked to do anything. He's frozen in place, but his entire body is shaking.
Roo: This is it, fallen.
The battlefield is chaos and screams, but he can't hear any of it—only a dark, broken laugh from Lute.
Roo: Make them pay for it.
Her eyes are pure black now, and Lucifer knows that there's only a sliver of sanity left in her. They are both dying here today.
One way or another.
They don't move and it feels like an eternity before he finds the strength to speak without coughing blood.
Lucifer: Exorcist.
Lute: What? Here to say your last words?
He ignores her taunts and keeps his voice calm.
Lucifer: Tell me again. What is your name?
She digs the weapon deeper and gets all up in his face. If she had more control of her mind, she would not answer and would spit in the devil's face. But she's losing it.
So she answers.
Lute: I am Lute. Leader of the exorcists. The first man's former lieutenant. The angel who just rid the world of the devil.
It's funny, really. Getting killed by Michael's sword wielded by an angel named Lute. Guess that part about "the instrument of Heaven will be the Devil's slayer" bullshit in the prophecy was spot on.
It's funny so he laughs.
He feels himself slipping away and Roo clawing her way up. There's a distinct sound of cracking, and he sees that it's his skin breaking apart like he's a porcelain doll. But he pays it no mind.
Lucifer: I have to congratulate you, Lute.
Lute: Oh yeah? Why's that?
His laughter fades, replaced by a somber tone.
Lucifer: See. I may have damned humanity.
Her eyes narrow, suspicion mingling with her fading sanity.
Lucifer: But you. Ohhhhh you.
He continues, a dark smile tugging at his lips.
Lucifer: You've just damned Heaven.
Then.
Then, the light fades from Lucifer's eyes as life slips away, and his body slumps against his brother's blade.
He's glad to have at least something familiar for comfort.
Someone calls the angel's name that made her pull the sword out of him and jump back.
The devil falls to the ground, motionless. And for a moment, everything is quiet, and then—
'Finally. I can sleep.'
What happens after is a cautionary tale.

Evidence of Exodus
Many often wonder if there is any factual evidence proving the Bible being true. What if I told you that not only can I point you to strong evidence of the old testament Exodus being real, I can point you to a person in Exodus who has a real life replica of himself. Being possibly the only person mentioned in the Bible that we can truly see how they appeared. (With the exception of Vladimir Putin's recent 2024 claim that he has an original painting of Jesus Christ that has been in Russia).
bNow, if you're not familiar with the book of Exodus (chapters 1-14), I suggest you taking a moment to read it. Otherwise, what I'm about to say may not make much Sense. Or, read this and then read Exodus, and things might make more sense to you as it's being read. Either way, I highly recommend reading it.
Archeologically, we're able to prove many things within the Bible, however, Exodus is not one of them. Matter of fact, some of the things are extremely questionable. For example, where are all these Israelites coming from mentioned? There are no records of a man named Moses in Egypt. Many movies depict the enslaved Israelites were building the pyramids, however, The pyramids were built long before the Israelites were enslaved. There are many things that people question in the book of Exodus, you might as well. Maybe I can help with any doubt that you may have. In hopes to open your eyes as to the possibility that these things really could have, and did indeed happen.
Let's go back to the story of Joseph. Joseph is one of the 12 sons of Jacob, also named Israel. (Remember God changed his name to Israel because of his faith in willing to sacrifice his son). They fell into a Great famine Aunt resources grew very slim, so they went searching for a better life elsewhere. Can you guess where they ended up? That's right, Egypt! This is where we get "The children of Israel", also known as, the Israelites.
Joseph's gift from God was the ability to interpret dreams. In doing so, he was able to interpret the Pharaoh's dream which ultimately helped save Egypt from a great famine. So how did his people, his family, end up in bondage? Answer is, the Israelites were living and the delta and we're living a pretty prosperous existence. Up until the moment a new pharaoh becomes in charge. This Pharaoh knows nothing about Joseph. For none other than narcissistic reasons, the new pharaoh is upset that the Israelites are living such a lavish life. He ordered task masters to watch over them, which is when they became enslaved. This Pharaoh is historically documented saying to his midwives, "watch the two stones." Meaning, Egyptian women often give birth while sitting straight up to let gravity help them with the birthing process. Often, they would sit on two stones to help assist them during labor. This correlates with the Bible when pharaoh ordered the death of all the Israelite males that were being born. This is around the time that Moses was born. With Moses's mom afraid of him being murdered, she sent him away, down the river, for a chance at life.
Another questionable biblical text says that the pharaohs daughter finds Moses and the river and takes him in as her own. An Egyptian naming their child Moses, which is Hebrew is not very likely. Leaving some skepticism. Let me push that skepticism aside.
Remember, Moses is sent down river, so when he's found, he's found in the reeds. Now the Hebrew word massa (משא) means brought out. However Moses, Moses is actually a pure Egyptian name, which means Born. Just think about Ra-Moses, Ra means God and Moses means birth in Egyptian, God is Born. Another common Egyptian term is Toth-Moses. So therefore, just because the name Moses doesn't appear as someone's name being an actual person, it does not mean he did not exist. Moses literally means birth and Egyptian. Something someone would say or call a newborn baby.
Moses later has an encounter with God through a burning bush. God tells Moses that he is going to be the one to help set the Israelites free and lead them into the promised land. Moses, brings his brother Aaron with him to go speak to the pharaoh. Moses performs many miraculous wonders and so do the pharaohs magic wielders. So it's like they're in competition for a moment. Moses has a staff and he throws it down and it turns into a snake. Then Pharaoh has his people throw a staff and they also turn into snakes. It was almost like this was something that they've seen before, and we're unimpressed. Now you can take it exactly how it was written and think that a staff was thrown down and turned into a snake and both parties were able to do so. What I think happened is, the staff happened to be a cobra snake that was stiff like a staff with the head as the handle. When you throw the snake down onto the ground it then is able to slither away. This is a known practice and Egypt then and even today which would explain why people wouldn't be impressed. Moses and Aaron came back time and time again with 9 different plagues. Trying to convince Pharaoh to let his people go. Pharaoh gets annoyed and Now orders that the Israelites are no longer going to be given prepared straw to mix with their bricks. Leaving them to cut their own straw to mix with clay in order to make their own bricks. Giving double work with the same deadline. None of the plagues presented so far didn't seem to phase the Egyptians whatsoever. By this point, God says enough is enough and lets the pharaoh know that if he does not cooperate, he will take all the firstborns of families who do not have a blood sacrifice over their door frame. Of course Pharaoh did not take this threat seriously, so there was no blood sacrifice and he ended up losing his son. This is what makes pharaoh say okay, You can have your freedom, you can go.
When the Israelites leave, the Egyptians are all mourning the deaths of their firstborns. So, when the Israelites asked for gold and silver upon leaving, they just handed it over with no issues. So the Israelites are able to leave rich with gold and silver. Rightfully so in my opinion. They just spent approximately 430 years, in slavery and are now heading to the promised lands.
As the Israelites were on their way, Pharaoh quickly changed his mind and decided to go after the Israelites and bring them back. This is when the famous part of Exodus happens that most people are familiar with. Did the Israelites really cross the Red Sea on dry land? While the Egyptians get swallowed whole by the water? There is a lot of skepticism about rather or not they truly did part the Red Sea.
Here the Israelites are leaving on foot with all this gold and silver. We know that they lived in the Delta part of Egypt so we can kind of figure out the route that they took. They don't take the Philistine route because Palestine is highly guarded with watchtowers. So what they do is go through the marsh. Now the misconception lies with where exactly they crossed at. Which they actually crossed through the Sea of Reeds and not the Red Sea. Now in the Bible it says that Pharaoh's chariots were clogged. Sounds like they were going through mud. If you ask me. Which if I'm on foot I can get through but if I'm in a chariot I cannot. So Pharaoh's men ended up perishing while God helped the Israelites make it through safely.
In playing devil's advocate, if this story is true then why is there no record other than what is mentioned in the Bible of this particular situation? The answer is Egyptians were horrible at record keeping in general. Their record keeping is mainly made up of what is written in tombs or on Stella's. Which never mentioned anything about any of their defeats. Egyptians only kept records of victories. Honestly, this entire situation only really mattered to the Israelites. No one else really cared. But this was the beginning of their entire religion.
Biblically they never say who the pharaoh actually was. Historically, Egypt didn't even have a pharaoh at this time. Who ever was in charge would technically be a king. So where does the Bible get Pharaoh from? It's actually a conjunction of 2 Egyptian words, that meant house, great. Which Pharaoh meant the one who lived in a great house. Fitting for someone living in a palace.
A clue in the Bible as to who this pharaoh may be is when they speak of the Israelites building the store cities with bricks. Is it a coincidence that one of the cities names is Pi-Ramess? They are using bricks, which historically we can narrow down the time frame in which bricks began being used to build the storehouse in these 2 cities mentioned.
i'm going to agree with Bob Brier, an egyptologist who suggested the Pharaoh in the book of Exodus is...... Ramesses the Great. Why?
Ramesses' built his capitol right beside the Delta, which would be close enough to the Israelites. Especially during the times Moses and Aaron were traveling back and forth trying to convince him to let his people go. The Israelite slaves built the city of Ramesses out of brick and he was the one who built these cities. There is a sentence written on a Papyrus that explains grain ratios to be handed out to the soldiers and apperu (now I know I butchered inthe spelling of this word, but I spelled it the way it sounded). Which The translation is thought to mean Hebrew. Many scholars believe that this is our Israelites. Other scholars believe that Merneptah was the ruler over The Exodus. They believe this because the first time Israel is mentioned is during the reign of Merneptah, which is Rameses 13th son and his successor. However, when Merneptah mentions Israel on his Stella. It is referred to as a people and not a country or a foreign land. Meaning around this time the Israelites were still wondering. Therefore, if they are wandering at this time, that means they must have left right before he began his reign. Biblical scholars believe The Exodus happened in year 20 of rameses reign. Guess what else happens right around this time? Ramesses loses his firstborn son, Amonhirkhopshef.
In the Egyptian museum, you can now see the mummy of Ramesses the Great. Which very well may be the only face you can look upon that is a real biblical figure. I love it when science, history and the Bible correlate.

p. 1 // p. 2
OKAY- so, awhile back, I made an AU where Bill had kids (twins!), I did this because I thought it'd be funny, and it was supposed to be ironic and stupid.
It's no longer ironic... and I wanna share this silly (incredibly fucked up) AU!
These two are Anthony (they/them) and Tony (he/she/they). I call them the Tony twins. This AU is directly attached to my Family of Shapes AU, but long long after Euclydia is destroyed (mentioning this because Tony is a square, which might confuse some people? Bill's uncle is Tad here, that's why).
The other parent of these two is a shapeshifter named Mendax (it/its), who was preying on Bill at the time to gain information before essentially disappearing from existence before Bill ever finds out.
I have a lot of lore on Mendax, but it's not the focus here right now, so I'll get to it LATER... just know I think about Mendax and Bill's relationship often and they're very fucked up and toxic and not good for each other.
Now the below will be a lot of lore and information about the Tony twins and Bill during all this.
MORE ART AND LORE VVV
So! for anyone familiar with how I perceive Bill's family, they'd know Scalene having a messy, awful pregnancy, and ending up with debilitating postpartum depression is a huge part of it.
Bill is no better than his mother in this regard.
When Bill found out he was going to have kids, he felt angry, miserable, and was mourning Mendax as well (since it up and left before Bill even Knew about all this). Having kids felt like the worst outcome of the relationship and he never even wanted them in the first place.
(hey, it's that drawing I said I'd never reveal the context for!)
Bill doesn't want to be a parent, and having two kids over just one broke him further, mentally speaking.
He wasn't the worst parent, but good God, he wasn't a good one either. Bill was incredibly emotionally abusive towards both children but was dead by the time they were 11, so he hardly had a chance to be there in the first place. (The timeline was my biggest problem to figure out because Mendax left before humans even evolved on earth).
To fix the timeline, I decided he'd have kept the kids in a pocket dimension where time runs so slow that it basically stopped. Millions of years could pass, and it'd be hours at most in that pocket dimension. This is me just coping to make the timeline work, LMAO (but it's in character, Bill doesn't wanna forget about the two somehow and wants to be there when he can. He also wants to keep them both safe and away from anywhere someone could hurt them).
The kids were brought out for Weirdmageddon, though (before Bill was aware there was a barrier and all that).
So long story short, Bill dies, the kids are left alone in the nightmare realm with the rest of the henchmaniacs, and things aren't going well. One of the henchmaniacs (8Ball) turns on the two and tries to kill them (considering how willing he was to turn on Bill, and didn't seem against eating kids, seemed in character enough).
This led to Tony (the square) killing 8Ball in self-defense in front of the rest of the henchmaniacs.
Tony hides Anthony in the pocket dimension and tells them to hide, then leaves to go "handle" things on the outside. She ends up slowly taking over the henchmaniacs group and basically becomes the "New Bill".
Although she's entirely unfocused on humans or anything, and more focused on gaining power to be more like her dad.
Eventually, Anthony leaves the pocket dimension by the time Tony is in his 20s. Anthony was shocked, and still 11, and ends up getting taken care of by some of the henchmaniacs and Tony for awhile.
I have more art on this, but I've hit the tumblr limit of 10, so I'll cut this shorter and make the rest of the plot its own post.
Anthony grows up and becomes a right-hand man for Tony, but after millions of years, they become tired and traumatized from doing all of Tony's dirty work.
Anthony ends up killing Tony.
Tony had slowly become more abusive and cruel over the years, and Anthony just couldn't handle it anymore. They end up taking over Tony's place as the leader of the henchmaniacs... but they don't really do anything. Around this time, they make a deal with the Axolotl (or some related party), to repent for all their crimes. They hated what they had done for Tony and wanted to be and do better.
They end up failing to save or do anything for anyone and ends up in the Theraprism. Unlike their father, they make it through the program and get reincarnated.
I'm still unsure if they would meet with Bill there, if either would know the other was just some many rooms away. I don't even know if they'd learn either was at the Theraprism.
If they did meet again, it would... be awkward for sure!
If you guys would like to hear more about any of these characters let me know, weirdly enough my favorite here is Mendax even tho it's not the focus here.

thoughts of the Halloween episode of The Sun and Moon show
sorry its long (not really)
I liked Nexus in the begin when he was still New Moon. I think it helped the family more than having Old Moon stick around, not being able to sit with his thoughts and reflect on the way he treated everyone he deems below him mainly Sun. While it also allowed him to see the consequences and aftermath of his death and how it directly affected sun more than everyone else. While I think the addition of Solar indirectly caused Nexus' downward spiral, in the end I'm glad he joined the family. after Solar's death it was weird that he spiraled that fast. Now that I rewatch it he was spiraling far before that and it was just the last straw. Nexus's whole purpose was to be better, kinder, and more loving than those who came before him, I think after Ruin was exposed is when he abandons that purpose of being kinder to be "Smarter and Better" than Old Moon. I think that's when 'Dark" Sun started influencing him even if it was just a thought ever now and again, slowly chipping away at the core of his mind. I believe Sun was able to recognize that something was happening just not knowing what. That's why Sun started to pull away from Nexus and everyone else, cause he knew he was gonna get hurt, even if it hurt everyone else as well. While its a bold claim from nexus of that he was treated as tool, he was right in the fact that Sun was not the best brother to him. Though Sun never claimed to be, he was well aware that 1) Old Moon was "never" coming back and therefore could not hurt him, and 2) that Nexus was not Old Moon nor was he acting like him, However you have to realize that Nexus was walking around with his dead twin's face, the face that hurt him everyday for years. the face that he grieves for when he's was alone and no one can hear him mourn the loss of the one person who was with him for everyday of his life. Sun lost the other half of him when Old Moon died, and then Lunar dying soon after. he didn't get a chance to really grieve and, yet he still took care of Nexus and Earth. Nexus had some points, But not a good enough reason to go that level of insane. In the End he got a truly sad death which was to die by the hand of the one that still after everything did truly loved and cared for him.
My thoughts on "Dark" Sun
For "Dark" Sun to be the one to force Sun to choose between Nexus and Moon is very cathartic for the character of Sundrop in my option. Yes it was a little fucked up, it was necessary tho. It was what Sun needed for him to finally start making decisions and to grow more of a back bone. I do not doubt the claim that "Dark" Sun is every Sun because it makes senses in a way. We the viewers have never seen the universe where Sun doesn't exist ,because I don't believe there is one we would have seen or heard about it by now. However there are some special cases like Lord Eclipse who had the chance to get rid of his Sun but didn't or couldn't, or where puppet is from which I believe is the Base dimension for the T.S.B.S universe. Which leads me to believe that Sun and the other Suns are what their dimensions are based around or on. The fact that "Dark" Sun stopped time and pulled Sun to talk proves this more. There are more signs as well, like when "Dark" Sun talks to Sun and turns on the glow function so we can see a difference in who's who, along with that there is a one of Ruin doing it to, when he said he could feel the camera looking at him and saying hello while staring at it. It makes more sense why "Dark" Sun seems to know everything that happens to sun and his family, and why he says certain generalized statements about what Suns do and do not like. This also make sense why Sun can interacted with all or most energy sources like star power and wither shards with out many consequences, its because He is the begin, middle and end to the universe. That's also why he hasn't died in someway yet, because if he dies the universe go's with him His body will most like be the form of the wither storm for that universe or at least starts from his body. That may also be why he goes in to a trance like state when he sees "Dark" Sun's Dragon its the universe's coding deep in him that starting to from the wither storm. I do think if Sun was to die his soul(?) would go where the souls go and his body start the process of the wither storm. but if Sun didn't die, he would go in that trance like state and his body would start the process anyways, but he wouldn't be able to do anything. However I don't believe we the viewers have seen the last of "Dark" Sun, but I think Sun and them won't see "Dark" Sun again hopeful. I think Sun will Most likely look for someone outside of the family for therapy maybe someone atlas knows or would recommend cause i don't see Sun begin ok with talking to earth about it after all of this happening
please no hate this is just my option

hi mar! i hope it's okay to send an ask your way. i have two questions for you as a human person in the hp fanfic/fandom arena if you want to answer. you do not have to and i apologize now if i'm being annoying or bothering you!
(1) what drew you to the jegulus pairing? what is appealing about it to you that makes you want to write it? (this is a genuine question with zero judgement or snark. i am new-ish to fanfic writing and i am genuinely curious as i'm not too familiar with this pairing!)
(2) can you recommend a good started mauraders fic that is not all the young dudes cause that is so many words i don't feel ready for lol
thank you for taking the time to read this and i hope again i have not been a bother!
Hellooo bonjour of course, I love a good ask, and your questions are so cool and I really want to answer them <3, so you're absolutely welcome!
(1) what drew me to the jegulus pairing? what is appealing about it to me that makes me want to write it?
I really connected with Regulus, because how can a character with such good intentions fuck up so bad? He's a really interesting character with a lot of flaws, yet you can't help but feel kind of sorry for him? I think it's interesting that we know so little, but what we know is full of contradictions? Homeboy supposedly proudly took the Mark but then tried to destroy the horcruxes? What makes a person do such a 180? It kind of forces us to think about what makes a person turn to evil, and what are the levers of evil (family pressure, depression, not feeling like a worthy cause, etc...). And James spoke to me because he's kind of sensible and easily hurt and I visualize him as having a very deep and rich inner life, kind of like Regulus. When he gets hurt, he'll try to get over it, he'll be confrontational, he'll forgive... but he won't really forget? I don't really write James as a happy-go-lucky guy, I tend to give him a more serious vibe, but I like how many characterizations you can find of him!
The both of them are really similar, they just externalize it differently. They both want to be loved for who they are, both are misunderstood as being either always mean or always happy, and both are tired of being put into boxes. They can be themselves with each other, put all the ugly and unlovable parts on display...and still find ways to be loved by each other.
Obviously they're fake characters that don't exist, this is just my interpretation of them and why I like writing/reading them.
I like the idea that someone unlovable can be loved, despite. Maybe it gives me hope.
(2) can I recommend a good starter marauders fic?
I have never read all the young dudes, so you're not alone.
I think my first advice is, you don't have to read the popular fics. There are a few I have read, a few I haven't, but just because everyone raves about it doesn't mean it'll hit for you, so give yourself the freedom to pick and choose your own adventures.
I'm going to go on a little tangent here, but ao3 really is an archive, and every damn day I find gems that have less than 10K hits, sometimes less than 10 comments, that are the bees' knees.
I urge you to just go in ao3 and dig, my friend. Pull your ao3 tags and go on a rampage. Try all the tags you think would interest you.
Don't only trust the comments or the hits. Low or high hit/low comment means nothing. One of my fav fanfic ever sits at a cool 40K hits from 2017 and I believe God wrote it, I can't imagine a human out there in the world wrote this stuff.
My point is every single comment/hit is deserved, and you have "popular fics" that are fantastic and got a lot of love (and deserve them), and unknown fics that are fantastic and deserve a lot of love (and you're gonna need to dig to find them).
My advice is: search tags, start reading chapter 1, see if you feel it. Either click out, or enjoy your meal. Take chances. My god, the things you'll find.
That being said, here are a few recommendations that I really enjoyed, from different registers, so you can have a little pick and see if anything tickles your fancy:
ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking by inthesquare and really any fics by @aboutnavi. The way she writes tickles a part of my brain that I really just--*sighs in love*. Ladies and Gentlemen is a fic she wrote for me, but I got to know her through : living in border lines (one of my absolutely favorite fics for no reason that I can pinpoint, just that it hits and I cried a lot). I recommend living in border lines to anyone with a pulse. It's sad and depressing, and it just takes 4k to get you there. But it's like, beautiful? ALSO in the ether, there is a websiteby her made me sob but in a positive, lovely way. She really said, I'm going to write something the way no one has ever written anything before, and did that.
Cat and Mouse by MissAmericanBi. I'm friends with @hihimissamericanbi but I can say without bias that this fic rewired my brain chemistry. I was blushing and I think Celine has 36 pics of me in shock as I read it. O.O. It's smut. There's a cat. Her Regulus won my heart. 10/10 reading experience.
It's a question of where, not when by Idontthinkthats_pumpkinjuice realllllyyyy took me there. I don't know there's something about the CONCEPT that I just thought was really cool and fun and original. It has become a sort of comfort fic for me. It's so weird, I love it.
Tarte Tatin by veryinnovative (@veryinnovative) I started reading this when I was in Japan and I was experimenting with strange and wonderful food, and the story sucked me in. I've never watched the media it was inspired by, but the fic is chef's kiss.
Choices by MesserMoon (@sophsicle) was the fic that dragged me kicking and screaming into the fandom. It's not really fun, nor happy (but it has light-hearted moment. Like, they really try to be happy you know?). I loved everything about it. All their fics are great--just know you'll suffer reading most, but you'll be happy about it.
quite like us by alarainai was the fic that dragged me out of the deep dark hole Choices put me in. It's fun, it's fluffy, it's cute, it healed me. All their fics are great if you want to be happy and have a good time and look at life and think "Thank god I'm alive".
The Mystery of the Pears by sonwar. I'm currently reading this one, and I've been having a lovely time.
If I had to recommend one fic to read from my collection, it would be Le Mange Dieu et le Dévoreur de Mondes. I think you can really tell from the writing how much fun green and I had writing this. I'm extremely proud of what we did there, enough that we both got the name tattooed on our bodies last summer (don't do that. We both have lots of tattoos so we weren't bothered, but don't do that. don't tattoo fic names on your body. It's madness)
Anyway, I urge you not to take these as the gospel truth. It can be a starting point, but there are thousands of amazing writers out there with fics updating, or completed, just waiting for you to find them. I'm mostly writing, so I haven't read any fics from the Marauders fandom in a while. I don't know what's been thrown out there in the past few months, I'm sure there are so many gems!
Enjoy your adventure!

What does Grant go by in your New All-Caste au? Are him and Rose both Ravager, I could definitely see him retaking his old name and completely ignoring Rose but if he doesn't want his family to know he's alive I assume he'd get a new alias. - AutisticRoseWilson
I forgot inboxes exist so sorry if this has been sitting around for ages. So I had another idea for an au that I’m going to steal Grant’s name in that for this. In rebirth, Slade says:
So Slade had the world view that your either a sheep or a wolf and classed himself as a wolf. Whist Grant hates Slade so he wouldn’t want to be a wolf, he also hates the idea of being powerless so would hate being a sheep even more. In the other AU he hears about a guy in Gotham who has all the traits he liked about Deathstroke before he knew it was his dad (the guys strong, powerful, plays by his own rules, isn’t a hero) but also crucially has things Deathstroke didn’t (he protects kids, hates abusers and isn’t a full on villain) called Red Hood. Grant assumes Red hood is a reference to little red riding hood and guesses from the rumours he’d heard, some big bad Wolf did something to him and now he’s not so little. So he gets obsessed with red hood, starts stalking him but also helping him out. Jason is very confused but since this guy’s just helping him he’s not actively hostile towards Grant. Grant decides to call himself Hunter because 1, the Hunter is the one to stop the wolf from hurting little red riding hood and 2 I mean he named himself ravager. It’s kind of on the nose.
Anyways back to New All Caste, I think he still could’ve picked up Hunter even without the red riding hood connection. He doesn’t want to be a sheep, doesn’t want to be a wolf so what beats both? A Hunter! But since his name is kind of generic he hasn’t really gotten that famous which in a way was kind of the point. If he got too big there’s a chance his family might look into him. In this, all he’s heard about Red hood is that the guys is Roy’s friend who’s good with Lian and took over crime in Gotham but nothing else. Jason hasn’t really heard of Hunter at all because again, generic name, and also Grant likes to take jobs in places that aren’t “dumpster fires” such as Gotham.
Once he does meet Rose, he ABSOLUTELY takes up his old mantle to try get back at her. He came back to his family after dying and suddenly there were way more people, everyone was significantly less toxic and actually putting in an effort to be a family. He is extremely envious that the other kids didn’t go through all he went through (from his perspective) and to hear one of them stole HIS name. He’s pissed and has always been territorial so keeps trying to one up Rose. Which only gets worse when he finds out Rose dated Jason. It’s mostly a one sided rivalry though because Rose has better shit to do than worry about a dead brother she thought was cool because of Joey who she now think sucks after finally meeting him.
Then Grant finds out Dick stole his other name, Red X, and all hell breaks loose. Jason is debating on whether or not to step in and Jade’s just enjoying the show. (She doesn’t actually want him dead since Lian adores Dick however, she is very content to watch him suffer.)

There is only one thing that I feel having watched last episode and it's disappointment. Not even sadness, not even anger, im just disappointed.
Izzy Hands deserved better.
We all, as the audience, deserved better.
You know, when the first season came out I was one of those people who really did not like Izzy at all. I almost couldn't believe that his fans even existed. Then, before second season I thought, well, Im sure that they will give him a redemption arc but Im going to hate him anyway as there is nothing that can redeem him in my eyes. I was so very sure of it.
Wrong, I was wrong. I admit it.
I loved his arc in second season, I loved every second of it. Truly. It has done what seemed utterly improbable to me - made me Izzy Hand's nr. 1 fan. It was just such a great piece of writing. From his initial first disobedience towards Blackbeard and then his finding himself and his worth outside of Blackbeard. His singing (he's great), doing drag (so beautiful), helping Stede, being a friend to him, helping Lucius, finding a family within the crew and finally, finally achieving what - as he said himself - piracy is about: belonging. He found his place, became the new unicorn. He begun to accept himself, to finally let go of all that bitterness that he had inside him in the first season. He allowed himself to be true to himself, to show his more vulnerable parts to the world. He was starting to feel better.
And then they killed him. And what makes it even worse, they did it in such a stupid, useless and anticlimactic way.
You see, Im generally against killing Izzy. I find it to be an utterly disappointing conclusion of his arc. The guy changed so much for the better during this season, becoming a better person as well as becoming more mentally stable and I believe that his arc deserved to have a much brighter and more optimistic conclusion. Where is a scene where he becomes a captain on The Revenge and finally is at peace? Free from Blackbeard, with his found family next to him?
Where is a promise to all lost, young, queer people that thing will get better even though now you may feel no hope?
We didn't get it. What we got was a rushed sequence that was directed more toward serving Ed's arc than Izzy's.
Why did he get shot? No reason, it was just random; it wasn't in a fight, it wasn't the unicorn protecting someone from his crew (which would make his death slightly less bad). The sole reason of him getting shot was to kill him off.
Was it needed for his arc? Well, it could have been done better and make more sense, yes. But wouldn't it make a more satisfying ending to give poor guy some happiness? When the whole season was focused on him earning it and allowing himself to feel it? It would turn out much better to acknowledge his growth and give him space to grow even more.
I don't even feel like Izzy's death was necessary for Ed's growth; not when both their arcs focused on finding themselves outside of constituting Blackbeard.
That's why I hate how Izzy's actual death moment is played out. The scene isn't about Izzy, it's about Ed. It's so focused on him that it almost hurts. Why is Ed the only one who's close to Izzy? Why is the crew so far away? Izzy loved them, they loved him, why don't they come closer and show it, he deserved it. And even Izzy's words, they are so focused on him telling Ed thing's that he needs to hear to grow further but... he doesn't need to hear it from him? It doesn't have to be Izzy who tells him that the crew loves him (which, arguably, is not really true as they are still wary of him after all that happened in the beggining of the season??), especially not when it's the last chance for Izzy to be told that he is loved, he is a part of the community, to be forgiven and apologised to.
And then they get over him so so fast? Just seconds after the funeral Stede is standing there and... trying to boast what great piece of pirat he is? Trying to make Zheng compliment him?
Also, why shoot him in his left side, missing all the important bits, and then have him die anyway?

I feel so so so insane. I do not usually ship rarepairs, but now I am suddenly extremely invested in a pairing with no content.
So let me pitch it for you, maybe somebody will be able to see it my way, and will want to chip it too.
It's Lan Sizhui/Wei Wuxian (mdzs). Wait, no, don't go away! I know that when Lan Sizhui was very little Wei Wuxian was in a sort of parental role, he played with him, regularly babysat him, was called gege and joked a few times about being the kid's parent. And it is easy to lean into that. I myself like stories when he literally adopts Wen Yuan. (And when I said that there is no content, I lied a bit, it's just that all of this content leans into pseudo-incestual vibes, and that is not what I want from the pairing). But it is not the only possible angle, especially considering that when they meet again for the first time they don't know each other and start from a new page.
Ok, so first of all, after Wei Wuxian' resurrection they are pretty close in age. Much closer than Wei Wuxian is with anyone from his generation, Jiang Cheng or Lan Zhan. It doesn't take a lot of stretching of the canon to say that Lan Sizhui is 18 (though 16-17 is more likely, for my purposes he is 18) and Wei Wuxian is 21 (I think he is between 21-23, but again, he can be 21)
And now, the concept:
Lan Sizhui is gay (cutsleeve), knows it already for some time, but doesn't share it with anyone for obvious reasons (yes, not even Lan Jingyi). He doesn't have any sort of gay-radar, and even though he knows that people like him exist in theory, he's never met any of them. So meeting Mo Xuanyu for the first time is a bit... interesting. He is quite a bit strange and his family treats him badly, so Lan Sizhui mostly feels pity than something else. And then night hunt turns more dangerous than was expected, and the disciples get over their heads. And then Mo Xuanyu suddenly takes the lead. He is very confident and he knows what he's doing. He is not lost (like Sizhui is). He is unexpectedly competent. And even though he is still a little weird, Mo Xuanyu isn't ashamed or afraid of being himself, it is also an attractive quality. So at this moment Lan Sizhui catches a crush on "Mo Xuanyu". But as soon as Lan Sizhui realises it, Mo Xuanyu disappears without a trace... Now they probably won't meet each other ever again...
But unexpectedly they meet again literally the next day!!! Lan Sizhui is very happy and excited. Mo Xuanyu once again puts himself in a leader's position and saves the day. He takes Sizhui's sword to make his flute! Then there is this whole situation with him maybe being Yiling Patriarch, Lan Sizhui tries to verbally defend him against Jiang Cheng. The whole Dafan Montain ends with several things happening simultaneously:
1) Mo Xuanyu again with no shame and in front of many influential cultivators openly talks about liking men
2) He says that he likes Lan Sizhui's teacher/parental figure (rip)
3) Lan Sizhui's crush goes with them home to Gusu Lan (❤️❤️❤️!!!)
4) against his will... (double rip)
Lan Sizhui sees that Lan Jingyi treats Mo Xuanyu normally, doesn't judge him specifically for being gay, so he is a bit less afraid and decides to share with him. Lan Jingyi is very supportive of him. He tells Sizhui to "go for it" and tells him that he totally has a chance with Mo Xuanyu. The rest of the story he acts as a professional wingman, always talks Lan Sizhui up in front of Wui Wuxian.
Lan Sizhui feels more confident with a crush on Mo Xuanyu than he would be with a crush on somebody else. Yes, he seems to like Hanguang-jun, but it doesn't seem that serious and Hanguang-jun doesn't like men (obviously), and at the very least Sizhui is sure that Mo Xuanyu likes men and wouldn't judge him for the same if he decided to confess.
For Jiang Cheng, when he finds out about Lan Sizhui/Wei Wuxian, it would seem even more that Wei Wuxian moved on. It's not a continuation of whatever's been before, Wei Wuxian starts new life and completely new relationships with new people.
When Wei Wuxian and Lan Sizhui find out about how they knew each other before, it would be a bit awkward for them, but they'd be fine. On the other han, Lan Wangji would freak out privately. I believe that he totally liked to imagine Lan Sizhui as his and Wei Wuxian's child.
Feel free to add anything, talk to me about the pairing, take any ideas from this post and run with them, link me any works with this pairing (no incest though)

PROPAGANDA
IRENE ADLER (BBC SHERLOCK) (CW: Lesbophobia)
1.) Ooh, she's a woman, so she got to be sexy seductive sultry sexy lady! And in love with the male protagonist even though she's gay. She got so nerfed compared to her short story version! She doesn't outwit Holmes like she does in the book, she gets saved by him and she's gotta be in looooove.
2.) awesome woman who outsmarts Sherlock holmes in the books turned into a lesbian dominatrix that mysteriously falls in love with Sherlock and gets outsmarted then rescued by him
3.) I don’t mind the sex worker thing; it’s a reasonable cultural translation decision in my book. But the character’s defining trait in the original story is that she beats Sherlock Holmes, and the BBC Sherlock creators were plainly too in love with their genius to let that pass. And the way she loses? She lets her emotions get the better of her in the end while he’s too rational to show such a womanly human weakness. Barf.
LEIA ORGANA (STAR WARS)
1.) In A New Hope, her main purpose is to be rescued by Han and Luke and then to comfort Luke over Obi-Wan's death even though her entire planet had been destroyed literally the day before. The sequels mostly see her as an extension of Luke. She names her son Ben despite (when the movie was written) having no established relationship with Obi-Wan and calling him "Obi-Wan" the only times she'd ever said his name on screen. Ben was the name Luke knew him by. His last name is Solo even though Alderaan is canonically a matriarchal society and she'd have good reasons to want to pass on her last name as the last living member of her family and one of the few Alderaanian survivors of a genocide. Her lightsaber was also buried with Luke's on Tatooine because that was where Luke grew up and where his family history was, even though the only time she personally was on Tatooine was when she was enslaved there (in a golden bikini), and the canon books made it clear that Leia didn't have or want any connection to Anakin. Rey takes the last name Skywalker when Leia was the one who trained her and whom she had a connection with, and again, Leia's last name was Organa. In TROS, Luke says that Leia stopped training as a Jedi because she had a force vision about her son (not yet even conceived), even though there was already an existing canon reason that made sense for her and had nothing to do with needing to stop training to be a mother.
2.) metal bikini. that’s it. (jk there’s so much more. the way she’s sexualized is just so icky and she just HAS to have a love interest apparently. she’s more competent than most of the other characters but she never really gets her own chance to shine. in the main media her character is never explored outside of her relationships with men)
3.) Leia is more than a piece of meat. In my opinion, she is a badass bitch who needs more screentime and story. I really loved her more over her brother Luke and her lover Hans.

The Maximoffs
Summary: Peter Maximoff's twin, Wanda, comes to the school for a visit. She's slightly less good-tempered than her brother about the subject matter of their father. In fact, lately, she's been less good-tempered about pretty much everything.
(set a little bit after apocalypse) (let's pretend dark phoenix doesn't exist)
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5 Coming Soon)
“I don’t understand why you don’t just talk to him.” The auburn-haired girl’s voice carried through the phone as Peter Maximoff sat on his bed, pulling the landline wire taught.
He rolled his eyes. “I just haven’t gotten the chance, yknow? First I didn’t know it was him, then we were kinda on opposite sides, and then there was all this stuff with…” The young man trailed off. “Anyway, he’s gone now. Not sure where he went.”
“Excuses.” Wanda said matter of factly. “You’re scared.”
“No I’m not.”
“Yes you are Peter.” She said. “I know you. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it cause what if it’s even worse when it’s fixed? Sound familiar?”
“Oh, please,” Peter Maximoff laid back on his bed, keeping the phone to his ear. “You’re just as bad the opposite way. You try to fix everything cause you can’t stand not being in control of a situation.”
He heard his sister let out a long, annoyed sigh over the phone. When she didn’t say anything for a while, Peter wondered if he’d gone a tiny bit too far. Usually he just stuck to insulting her hair or her clothes, not her deep psychological problems.
“Now that we’ve both established the mental dirt we have on each other,” She started. “I hope your room’s clean.”
“What?” Peter looked around at the room. He hadn’t been there for too long, so he hadn’t gotten the chance to really make it a pigsty like his bedroom at home. Without another word, Wanda hung up. Shortly after, there was a knock on his door.
She didn’t wait for an answer before pushing it open and giving a wide eyed look of astonishment. “Shit, this place is nice.”
Peter laughed and immediately stood up to hug his twin sister. “What the hell are you doing here?”
“Got let out on good behavior.” He gave her a flat look. “Okay. Fine. All seriousness… I dropped out.”
Peter waited for the punchline but it never came. “What?” Wanda Maximoff had dropped out of college. Wanda Maximoff who got into two Ivys. Wanda Maximoff who used to dream about leaving home and becoming a scholar, or a librarian, or a historian, something ordinary. “That’s not…”
“Like me?” Wanda asked. “Yeah that’s what mom said a few minutes before she kicked me out.”
“She kicked you out?!” Their mother had never even bothered to kick Peter out, and he was significantly more of a train wreck than Wanda. “What did you do?” She shrugged. Peter crossed his arms. “What did you say?”
“Something I didn’t mean. About her and… Erik Lehnsherr.”
“Of course you did.”
“What? I said I didn’t mean it!”
“Does she know that?” Peter asked, then shook his head. “Actually, I don’t care. I’m not getting in the middle of this one.”
“Fine.” Wanda sighed. “So… are you gonna show me around?”
Wanda absentmindedly twisted a thread of scarlet chaos between her fingers as she sat next to her brother in the dining hall. Considering the old house's nature, she suspected it must've been a ballroom some hundred years ago. Peter had shown her through the vast halls, the garden, and the library. She met Scott, Jean, and Kurt, Part of Peter's apparent new family. He hadn't said anything of the sort, but he didn't have to. This place had instilled more maturity in Wanda's brother than she or her mother had managed to in decades.
"So?"
"Sew buttons," Wanda said with a smile, stealing a piece of chicken from her brother's plate.
"Comedic genius."
"That's my name, don't wear it out."
"I mean, what do you think of the school?" He asked, a hint of hopefulness in his eyes.
"It's a beautiful building, and everyone here seems pretty nice..." Wanda started, looking around. "I'm happy for you."
"There's something else."
"No, there-" Wanda stopped talking when she heard a conversation happening in the doorway.
"I don't see what the problem is, Hank."
"Charles, the problem is that he's in my lab. He touched my centrifuge."
"Oh, god forbid-"
"I can't work with someone else in there. It's invasive."
"Ignoring how pretentious that sounds... just Erik him to my office. Let him know that I have a class to teach but I'll be there for out weekly chess game after."
Peter had followed his twin sister's gaze and joined in on her eavesdropping. Wanda turned to face him with a mischievous grin on her face. Despite their many physical differences; the fact that Peter looked more like their mother and Wanda looked like-holy shit Wanda looked like Erik-on top of their differing height and hair color; that mischievous grin was something the Maximoff twins shared.
Peter slowly realized what Wanda was about to do. "No." Her grin grew wider. "Wanda, don't even think about-"
"I just wanna meet him." She said, already standing up. Before Peter could stand up after her, someone Wanda didn't know yet had called his name and sat down across from him. "I'll meet you back in your room."
Wanda set off down the hall, towards the office that they'd passed once and Peter had mentioned in passing. She'd been thinking about this moment for as long as she could remember. The witch put her hand on the doorknob and opened it. Empty. She let out a sigh. Fine. She could wait a few more moments.

Live-read: Dofus Heroes - Kerubim Tome 1 (part 1)
You can find this comic's physical version on Ankama's site, webtoon version on Allskreen, and Free Scans on various file-hosting websites that shall not be named.
Quick disclaimer: While I will be including french screenshots here, because it is a language that uses the latin alphabet, and everyone has that on their keyboards, all ready to type up in DeepL and Google translators — what I will actually be reading is a new fan translation in my native language, which does not use latin alphabet.
Time to quickly switch between two tabs because nobody has translated this comic into English. Yaay...
This comic has, as my fellow crepinjurgenology studies colleague @dullard put it, "thin god Ecaflip jumpscare"
Ecaflip looks a lot like Ush here, and I think it's way too malevolent. Part of the fun of him to me, is that he is an Evil Fucking Cat that looks like a cute cat. It makes his despicable actions more funny & interesting.
...Anyway, this comic came out during the run of the show, in 2013, and its sheer existence, — including its negative portrayal of ecaflip, its inclusion of blood and Kerubim's 20 mental illnesses, — is a direct confirmation of the show being an unreliable narrator story. (Though, we've been knew.)
This comic's most important function for this blog is that it will provide us with a well-needed glimpse at what Kerubim's adventures are like when he isn't retelling them to a 7-year-old child whose respect and approval he desperately craves.
The second Kerubim is fatally wounded, he gives up. Yet, Ecaflip saves him, without using one of his nine lives, just as he did in the Wheel of Destiny article.
I suppose it's one of his trump cards, isn't it?
But I am more interested in how at peace Kerubim is with death... It does make sense for Kerubim to hide some rather morbid feelings about his life behind his cheery facade, doesn't it?
It must be tiring. Losing your family, being a god's plaything, losing your brother, feeling like you have to constantly play the role of the cool womanizing warrior, and never unpacking your emotions about any of it. Death would feel like a relief from such weight.
Which makes Ecaflip's grip on his life feel more malicious.
I know, chances are, this comic, as well as most of the show, were made well before Kerubim's demigod status was thought of as a plot-point.
But even in terms of him being a demigod... I think that death would seem relaxing, despite its temporary nature, wouldn't it?
One of the main things of this whole comic is that Kerubim gets amnesia.
Harry Du Bois-ass character. Not only is he mentally ill, divorced, and has 20 layers of sad backstory, but also he got amnesia. God bless.
Yeah, this comic is more realistic and gritty than the show, but the cartoon shenanigans are still real. Thank god.
There's a reason why I think that a big part of Kerubim's character is his experiences with loneliness and isolation, and the way it makes him crave being loved and cared for, as well as how it makes him act out to get attention and popularity.
It's telling that while completely amnesiac, he identifies immediately with a small kitten, whom he immediately assumes is a "he" and "an orphan", and wants to take care of it.
It may seem like an innocuous moment at first, but "he is all alone" will become a reoccurring motif for Kerubim's mental state and subconscious in this comic, and it is the comic where we get the Orphan Kerubim reveal.
I already discussed the fact that I think Kerubim kept and adopted Joris due to Atcham-related guilt earlier on the blog, but I will take this moment to voice 2 other reasons:
Kerubim identifies with orphans and children easily. He would never leave Joris alone after looking at him and thinking "You're all alone. Like I was."
The idea of having a child would be very pleasant to someone as lonely as him. He struggles a lot with wanting to act in a way that will make people like him, and children are, by nature, inclined to like their parents even if they're complete losers.
Btw, if you follow my main, @joris-jurgen , you probably know that I headcanon Kerubim as having comorbid HPD and BPD. Because it fits. And because personality disorders are usually the result of insane levels of childhood trauma. And... my experience running this blog has so far not swayed me from this opinion in any way. This little paragraph was your Armchair Fictional Psychology Corner. This man can fit a lot of sadness and wanting to be loved in him.
Ecaflips confirmed to, just like real cats, have very good night vision.
...Aaand now I'm thinking about cute scenarios of Kerubim, Atcham, and Joris travelling at night, or navigating their home in the darkness.
(Because Joris doesn't have human eyes, as we've seen from the movie. And considering the way Grougaloragran's eyes reflect light in the Oropo ova, chances are, dragon eyes glow in the dark, the same way cats do. Which brings me to the point that, Joris's dragon-ish eyes would probably glow in the dark. Like a cat. Yeah, I am very sane, and should not be sedated in any way, readers.)
Crocosec has always wanted to have a butcher's shop and feed people with delicious food...
Ah, I don't know why, but my silly little detail-noticing from the first eps, where I pointed out that he has a meat shop, paying off? It makes me feel fuzzy. It's nice to know that the person who wrote this comic cared enough, and that it's something that was put in here with intent.
Anyway, I am about to be very normal about the next few pages.
*jumpscaring you by including a screenshot from the high-quality scanlation I am reading. Because this moment would be too blurry if I didn't.
He isn't even playing with any other kids... This is going to kill me, and not in a fun way.
The translation I am reading interprets the last line as "I would return to..." but it seems a bit wrong to me, especially considering my own research on language sentence-comparing sites.
What Kerubim pretty much says here, is that, he'd like to become a huppermage, and use magic to bring back his parents, sisters, and brothers.
While one could interpret that as Kerubim being lonely while being raised in an orphanage all his life without a family, I have a couple of counterpoints:
He calls the kitten "orphaned" specifically, which implies that there were parents, and that they aren't there anymore.
If it were just a family he wanted, he wouldn't be as specific as to say "sisters and brothers," besides just "parents," which leads me to assume that Kerubim means specific people he used to know (before they died).
3. Atcham is a Crepin too, as was revealed in the Dofus Movie. Logically speaking, if they were both given to the temple after being born, (and as we know, Atcham was at the temple, because Bashi knew him, according to Wheel of Destiny #8) they probably wouldn't have surnames, especially the same one.
4. Kerubim's unfunny joke about being the last in his family.
5. Wakfu: One More Gate's shopkeep being an ancestor of the Crepin family implies that Crepins are a real family that existed, and that, perhaps, Kerubim's affinity for selling stuff has to do with his early upbringing, before he was orphaned.
6. In the Dofus manga, Atcham says that a sword he owned, which was stolen from him, has been "passed in his family for generations", which yet again, points to them having a family to begin with.
All of this to say... What I think happened was far more devastating.
He had sisters and brothers, and two parents — it doesn't matter if the Crepin family was an adoptive one, or if it was made up of their biological mother, her husband, and half-siblings. Because they're all dead, and that's just... horrible.
A whole family, at the very least 6 people (if we assume that by "sisters and brothers", he means just two sisters and two brothers), wiped out.
...Oh, and one last thing.
7. I think that, as an adult, Kerubim did put some research into dark magic, with a hope of bringing his family back.
Just as he said he would.
....Though, as always, that might just be me reading too much into things. ╮( ̄ ▽ ̄)╭
These aren't the tears of an orphan who wishes he had a family. These are tears of grief of a child who used to have one.
And Ecaflip, his biological father and God, is taunting him about it.
...I would speak on my deeplore conspiracy theory that perhaps Ecaflip himself is to blame for whatever happened to Kerubim and Atcham's family, — to get Kerubim, or both of them, isolated, and under his thumb, — but perhaps it's just me being actually clinically insane.

ranking voyager characters from favorite to least favorite
i meant to do this at the end of season 1 and again after the finale but we'll just have to go with at the end of season 2 instead
seven of nine - i haven't met her yet but i just know.
janeway & tuvok - cop out to do a tie? possibly. they remind me so much of kirk and spock respectively. every time i go "oh no it's gotta be tuvok" it switches to janeway. every time i go "oh no it's gotta be janeway" there's another good tuvok episode. tuvok is such a wonderful look into vulcan culture through the eyes of someone who was not alienated from it and abused by it, and you never doubt his ability to get ANYTHING done, even if it's sketchy as hell. i think about his wife of 68 (almost 69! nice) years and his 4 babies and his orchids and his lute all the time. man can SING. on the other hand, janeway is such a breath of fresh air after deanna troi - who i love, but who was constantly victimized for being a woman. janeway just gets to be janeway - she's excited about exploration, she's deeply compassionate, and none of these things make her weak anymore than they made kirk weak. sometimes her adherence to her Ideals is a little picardian, but i forgive her, because she reminds me way more of kirk
chakotay - sometimes a man builds a bathtub and your opinion of him rises by. a lot. i've always liked the difficult position he was in of trying to balance maquis and starfleet interests and protect both sides from themselves and each other, but the ADDED LAYER that for much of the journey he has CANONICALLY been in love w janeway is simply too much to bear. also, i think his trust issues w betrayal are very gripping and they compel me. he has been through so much SHIT and i do love a little traumatized guy. ALSO also, they don't do enough w this in canon, but in my mind palace he and tuvok HATE each other (chakotay hates tuvok for being a spy, tuvok hates chakotay for nabbing first officer job), which i think is extremely funny
the doc - my best friend the emergency medical hologram...i like that he's a brand new kind of person, even if it brings up infuriating questions about the status of all these endless holodeck characters we create and then carelessly abuse or delete. he doesn't have a name! people treated him like he didn't exist! watching him come into his own and bond w kes has been one of voyager's great delights. also, gay king.
b'elanna - she doesn't always get a lot to do but when she does it's almost always good, racism episode notwithstanding. what i like most about her is how ride or die she is. she was willing to get her ass beat to give tuvok a tiny chance of escaping torture, she was willing to die to take down her own superweapon, she defended chakotay when his actions were entirely indefensible (AND she's secretly in love w him?? girl.), she will not hesitate to do any number of crazy things for Her People, and since she's estranged from her family or whatever they are all aboard this ship. you couldn't ask for a better friend than b'elanna and good for her. also, she gets to be gay with janeway about once a season so far which i've really enjoyed. she could do so much better than tom paris
harry - harry also rarely gets anything to do, but that makes his episodes all the more distressing. he's just a little guy! the so-called baby of the ship, until he was replaced by an actual baby with tiny adorable mother-killing spines on its head. i'm still mad that the really big important harry kim episode we got turned out to be such fucking garbage when the concept was SO good, and i'm not super hopeful for his future, but who knows. btw, he could also do better than tom paris. he and b'elanna could ride off into the sunset w/o him
kes - i don't dislike kes, and her scenes with the doctor are especially nice, but i feel like she, like deanna, gets victimized a lot, and her whole thing with neelix was so difficult it's hard to get the taste of it out even though it's over now. that said, i do love how compassionate and mischievous she is, and i love when janeway gets to give her mom hugs :( <3
neelix & tom paris - another tie. this is so difficult for me because i started out HATING tom paris and really liking neelix, and a few plotlines/episodes made me reverse my opinion. tom paris got a lot better when he was like yeah i decided i'm not gonna be a shitheel anymore! especially that he went on a multi-ep arc tricking us into thinking he was backsliding when really he was doing secret agent shit. props! but he's still not terribly interesting. neelix was AMAZING in the atom bomb episode but my interpretation of him as a guy who was gentle not in spite of but BECAUSE of past suffering didn't last long when he decided to be so fucking horrible to kes for no reason. i really want to get over it with neelix the way i got over it with tom paris, but for now they're both at the rock bottom of this list
for fun, i think my season 1 list would have looked like: janeway, tuvok, doctor, b'elanna, chakotay, harry, neelix, kes, tom paris. probably? it's hard to know now. we'll see how all this shakes out by the end of the series.
