bunch of random magic thoughts for my magic-using characters and their magic(s)
sakine - kind of a weather/storm mage / a focus in lightning (in terms of skyrim gameplay); water witch who rode on ships and tamed the waves, etc. i custom-equipped the special breath spell from the helm of whateverthefuck from the db dlc and so i also keep a headcanon that she’s picked up a very dragon-like ability to breathe out superheated steam as an attack (without shouting - if she’s shouting, she has a bunch of other attacks besides, but that’s a different class of magic)Â
ina: a mess of trying to figure her own magic out, but she is very much a fire mage and did a lot of lowkey healing before inquisition because the best ways she could express her magic was by doing things that were already natural - people heal over time, and if she covers up her aiding of the healing process with some pain, they’ll be none the wiser. she’s forced to pick up a lot of knowledge about the fade and fade magic (and learns a lot more besides over the course of her affair w solas), but her ultimate specialization is in shapeshifting (like the da:o specialization but w/ different animals)
myrrha is kind of a ‘classic’ dnd wizard - she knows a lot of offensive spells, some defensive ones, and she’s highly educated. she’s telvanni with a very exacting and demanding father, so there’s no reason to expect otherwise. she specializes in poison-like spells and necromancy, but knows a lot of fire spells as well. she’s also a mage who holds an extreme amount of actual and political power in morrowind due to her status and the fact that she assumes control of the telvanni for a good chunk of time, so.
io... well, originally a lot of her magic was based in earth and frost magic, though upon inspection she’s really very much an earth mage (think like... the orogeny of the mages in the fifth season, she’s that type of mage). frost was more a correlation to her personality, but meh. she probably knows how to do it, but it isn’t her first line of attack or defense. as time winds ever on, she begins to pick up blood magic here and there, half-ashamed but aware of how far she’s willing to go to find a cure for wardens. (also i dislike the attitude surrounding blood magic even if it can be used for Very evil ends - like merrill and solas and other people keep asserting, it is just a tool)
kieran. it’s been a long-ass time since i’ve played da2 so i only really remember that i had a lot of fun with him as a force mage but also honestly? he’s just a very standard mage. he’s comfortable with that and doesn’t see a need to draw even MORE attention to himself over the course of da2. i should expand upon his magic more at some point but for now, [shrug emoji]
wyn is the only fallout oc i have who i have VERY clear mental image of what her magic would look like in like a dnd or dragon age setting - she uses blood magic as a last resort only, and has experience with dragon-age type necromancy (but not a lot and uses it more as an add-on to healing) - she’s mainly a healer with a lot of random tricks up her sleeves, and likes to use magic to trick or disorient. when push comes to shove & she has to fight, her magic is air-based (like an airbender i guess) with some fire thrown in.Â

falne’s ‘magic’ is only a racial trait to blend in with stuff, and she picked up a couple of spells for muffling herself, etc. - but she’s not a mage, she’s a thief through and through.
asta is bad at magic, has only mastered some fumbling restoration (which saved her life once but left her with an ugly scar)
dishonored oc very specifically rejects using her connection to the void for any kind of witchery, so.Â
indmira knows how to start a fire w/ magic but didn’t manage to learn much more than that and she isn’t really interested in learning more - she’s good at alchemy and can skin a rabbit in record time, so her physical skills are enough for her.
deliilah would probably have no magic and lucy only as far as a type of ‘artificer’ character, not really otherwise.Â
