I happened to read this interview where Alex Ross Perry (co-director of Rite Here Rite Now) was talking about his Videoheaven and Pavements projects, and this quote jumped out at me:
Cinema Scope: There’s a line that keeps popping up in Videoheaven: “The movies talk about themselves.” I like this a lot, and it’s interesting that a filmmaker like Brian De Palma was ahead of the curve in assessing the symbolic or semiotic potency of the video-store space, whereas later on it served mostly as a backdrop for romantic comedies. It was a way to hint that the characters had inner lives, and taste, but rarely to the point where they genuinely talk about movies. It’s like a weird uncanny-valley thing: I remember always wondering what the characters on Friends would say about La Dolce Vita (1961), the poster for which is hanging in Monica’s apartment, or if the version of Die Hard (1988) they rented had actual profanity in it… Alex Ross Perry: Well, this is something that only people like us would ever think about. If they rent Die Hard on Friends, but then Bruce Willis appears in a later season as Ross’ girlfriend’s father, in this world, is there simply a guy who looks like Willis and has his mannerisms, and so on? And has he ever seen Die Hard? This question is of course made text in Last Action Hero (1993), with the Stallone Terminator 2 (1991) gag. To say nothing of the now well-known and HD-enhanced fact that on Seinfeld, Jerry owns Child’s Play 2 (1991) and Arachnophobia (1990) on VHS, along with Pretty Woman (1990), which stars Jason Alexander…I’m reading too much into all this, but so would a De Palma character.
(For some broader context -- Videoheaven is an as-yet unreleased documentary about video stores, particularly as they're featured in film.)
But it made me think, it's funny, isn't it -- the VHS tapes in Rite Here Rite Now.
Some of them are vague -- for the two box sets next to the TV, the top one has a logo that was used for Prequelle Exalted version, and the bottom is the logo for either Impera (possibly Phantomime, it's hard to tell which with the color grading in the movie). I don't think anybody has definitively figured out what Ghost In the Trees means, but Haze Over North America Tour 2013 was a real tour that happened, but no audio or video of it was ever released (at least, not in our universe).
On the table, we have one more box set with the If You Have Ghosts logo and art, and we see tapes of the Chapters videos. New Blood, Tax Season and Meanwhile in Dublin, are shown up close, plus Nap Time is on the desk in front of Sister Imperator.
The fact that the Chapters exist on VHS is what's so weird. There's really no way to reconcile the existence of these tapes in the Ghost universe with the way most people would have understood the Chapters up until now. I think the default interpretation of a piece of fiction is that it is true in its own reality -- i.e. in the universe where Cardinal Copia is himself, and not Tobias Forge in a mask, the Chapters are something that actually happened. It's much weirder to see it it as some kind of meta-fiction, where it's a scripted production put together and released by these fictional characters. But Rite Here Rite Now is a movie about Copia and Sister Imperator and Papa Nihil and not the actors that play them - how could the chapters possibly co-exist with the characters in-universe?
I always think that's a fun part of Ghost -- the veil between the universe of Ghost's lore and reality is often so thin. They come out to play in our world in the form of concerts, and it's not quite like meeting Mickey Mouse in Disney World where the costumed character's experiences have no bearing on the canon. The real life shows Ghost performs add to the counter Papa Nihil is keeping for Copia. The accolades that they allude to in the Chapters - the Grammy, the gold certification for Mary On A Cross, TikTok virality - all happen in real life.
For the record, I don't think we're meant to explain the tapes in RHRN, for the record -- my interpretation it is just a nod to what Alex Ross Perry mentioned in the interview. It is impossible to have a fictional storyline that takes place in the real world without running up against paradoxes you create.
Also, allow me to plug my own post, from earlier: besides the VHS I already mentioned, there are two others on the table that are partially obscured and unidentifiable - the one in the GIF above, with the Union Jack on it, and one other in an orange case that appears to say "Australian Tour" (the "tour" part is cut off in this screen cap, but is somewhat visible in the video). I can't tell if there's other text on the VHS cover, or if it's just graphics.
I can't figure out if it's young Nihil on the cover or a stylized version of Papa III -- but either way, Papa Nihil of course never went on an Australian tour in our reality (or, theoretically, in theirs - since, per Metal Myths, Nihil's version of Ghost "immediately disbanded" - not that Ghost is unwilling to retcon things) but neither did Papa III. There were plans for an Australian tour during Meliora era, but they fell through when Soundwave was cancelled in 2016. But I guess it's another point where their reality diverges from ours :-)

OKAAY HOLLYYYY SHIT. So. I started working on this march 30th after I made a lego themed thing for my work! I made a lego version of our work like character person lmfao and i was like hm... this is super cool i kind of want to do my own project with this! So i thought ooo I can make either area unknown or maybe like soul swap! so I was watching michela and was like hai would you reckon AU or SS would be cooler in lego and she said probably area unknown and so then i set off designing the characters! I started with Guqqie’s first and did the jacket. I made it while watching the lego batman movie because its a baller movie... BUT ANYWAY YAS! So i started with the jacket. Because this was the first time I was doing this and really didn’t know how to go about recreating the lego look in terms of lines and stuff so i used 2 of the mecabricks like lego designs and mushed them together annd then from then on i kind of got a feel for everything and was able to design my own more effiencetly! Once i finished guqqie i moved on to to michela’s! and holy shit hers was a bit of a nightmare LMFAO. so i started with the hat because there was no actual bucket hat i used a top hat and then edited it to get the right shape before adding on the axolotl bits! the rest of the design was quite simple and then i went to the hair. GOD. okay so i used 2 mixed together and her bit at the front is actually a pony tail that i re-sculpted and meshed and it made me want to end it all a bit... I was going to add her jacket but i just didn’t know how and also valued my sanity a bit so i decided to Not do it. Before moving on to aimsey’s i actually did the build portion! and MY FUCKING GOD. okay so basically i couldn’t find flats for the minecraft textures that were HD enough so i decided to pixel by pixel recreate every single one! Every. Single One. All of the blocks are 16x16 i believe and i hand colour dropped everyone from shitty screenshots i found of the blocks. Mapping them in blender would seem easy! its just a bunch of cubes and rectangular prisms... but no No it was not. trying to lego ify it was even worse. so like i found a youtube vide that showed how to use geometry nodes to create the lego effect but it just didnt have the effect i wanted so i went ahead and did it by hand... and then i had to fucking RE MAP every block because it fucked it up... i only wanted to slightly end it all... and then finally i went back to aimseys design! you cant really tell but the arm cast is actually seperate to the arm! i duplicated the piece, scaled it up slightly removed a bunch of the bits and then used the solidify modifier and then mapped the bandage on it! I sculpted the horns form 2 circles and then just kind of deleted random bits for the broken one lmfao! once all that was done i rendered them all adding them illustrator where i designed the box and then brought THAT into blender to get renders of the box! I then added all 3 minifigs, the build And the box into 1 blender project to create a cool epic scene to show off the complete set! and thats how i did this!

Rope, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Torn Curtain, Topaz, and Frenzy will be released on 4K Ultra HD (with Blu-ray and Digital) on October 31 via Universal. They’ll be available both individually and in The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection: Volume 3 box set.
Rope is a 1948 thriller written by Arthur Laurents, based on the 1929 play by Patrick Hamilton. James Stewart, John Dall, and Farley Granger star.
The Man Who Knew Too Much is a 1956 thriller written by John Michael Hayes. James Stewart and Doris Day star.
Torn Curtain is a 1966 spy thriller written by Brian Moore. Paul Newman and Julie Andrews star.
Topaz is a 1969 spy thriller written by Samuel A. Taylor, based on the 1967 novel by Leon Uris. Frederick Stafford, Dany Robin, and John Forsythe star.

Gomer Pyle Blu-Ray Box Set Review
Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.— The Complete Series includes all five seasons of the classic sitcom. This 20 disc set will provide hours of entertainment and laughter.
This hit spin-off from The Andy Griffith Show took one of the hilarious side characters, Gomer, and set a fresh new show around him that would exceed the hilarity which started in way back in Mayberry, North Carolina.
I still rank this comedy in my all-time top 10 list. The naive, but loveable country boy Gomer (Jim Nabors) and loudmouthed Sergeant Carter (Frank Sutton) play incredibly well off each other. This is probably the 20th time I've watched most of these classic episodes and I still gleefully appreciate the comedic genius of this old tv show.
The series is presented in HD for the first time in this 20 disc Blu-Ray set. The first season is in black and white with the rest in beautiful color. The transfer is solid and crisp, especially in season 2-5. Actors and actresses faces and overall presentation have never looked so delightfully clear. You'll even notice set pieces and landscapes in the background like never before. It's amazing when you realize these episodes are over 60 years old. Although this is presented in a 4x3 aspect ratio, it never hinders your appreciation for this series.
VIDEO QUALITY 📽️ : B+
For only a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track the sound is actually quite pleasant. It might be because I long enjoyed these episodes on an old picture tube television for years without complaining, but I can not find anything wrong with the mono mix here. I am also aware that not all of the music originally found from this series made it to this release sadly due to rights of usage.
AUDIO QUALITY 🔈 : B-
As far as the extras go, there aren't many (see below). There are also no dvds or digital copies available with this set either. While the disc extras here aren't numerous, I can understand that more than the lack of digital copies for the episodes.
Season One, Disc One:
Pilot Episode "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. from The Andy Griffth Show (480i, 28:09): The episode that debuted the character and concept. Includes the option to play the episode alone or with the "Sales Presentation" which is also included separately (see the next supplement below).
Sales Presentation (480i, 2:39): Jim Nabors introduces and closes out the episode, as is optionally seen with the episode above.
Season One, Disc Two:
Audio Commentary: Ronnie Schell, who played "Duke" on the show, discusses the first episode on the disc, "Gomer and the Dragon Lady."
EXTRAS 📀 : D
FINAL GRADE: B-
Clocking in at 3786 minutes, this is one box set that viewers both young and old can sit around and savor together for literally hours and hours. Even with the lack of extras here, this release gets my 100% recommendation. They don't make them (comedies) like this anymore.

hi, i'm that yannqi who asked you about making gifs, it really helped me to make yangyang gifs and upload them into tenor, thank you so much!! can i ask about the sharpness, smart sharpen, curves etc. settings for your gifs, you really helped me so much, I'm so grateful.
aw hi friend !! i'm so glad <3 and i hope you'll post your yangyang gifs here on tumblr too so i can see them !!! tag me !!! hehe
as for my settings - they are different with every gifset. i make all of my coloring from scratch and i adjust sharpening based on the source video depending on the quality, lighting, etc. but i'll try to share my most often used options, so you can play around and see what you like.
sharpening:
opt 1 (what i'm using most often currently, creates a smoothing and fine detail sharpening effect) - i use camera raw filter with texture to +25 and noise reduction to +15
opt 2 (for a quick, easy way to create HD sharpening) - i use high pass at 4.0 px in soft light blending mode
opt 3 (for a classic look with fine detail and definition) - i use smart sharpen in these settings
you can also combine some of these together! and if i am not using the camera raw noise reduction, i often will add a gaussian blur layer. usually just 1 px at ~20% opacity.
coloring:
you can see some examples of my psds here ! they are not the most up to date for me now but they are a place to start. some other coloring things i pretty much almost always do:
set my darkest point with curves (always always my first step!)
increase reds and blacks in selective color
mattify / even out overexposure (esp of stage lights) with a gradient map layer in black&white, reverse box checked, soft light blending, 50% opacity 50% fill
color correct with color lookup, color balance, and/or color fill layers
add a top coat with an exposure layer set to multiply or soft light at 25% opacity
