Black and white portrait by Josef Steiner depicting Holde Goebbels.
Signed and dated 1939 by artist.
Josef Steiner (1899-1977) was a German painter and graphic artist, expressionist and member of the Berlin Secession.
At the height of his career he lost his work under the Nazi regime and was arrested for high treason and anti-state sentiments and imprisoned in an execution prison.
On January 16, 1939, the official "degeneracy judgment" of the "Reich Chamber of Fine Arts " took place against Josef Steiner.
Josef Steiner convinced Joseph Goebbels to cancel the judgement with THIS portrait of Holde Goebbels' - a hand-signed etching that he sent to the Reich Minister. On March 29, 1940, he received a personal letter of thanks from Goebbels, and on April 1, 1942, he was again admitted to the "Reich Chamber of Fine Arts" in Munich. Josef Steiner was never a member of the NSDAP or a National Socialist organisation.
A coloured version of this portrait was a front cover of Nazi's Propaganda Magazine for woman "NS Frauen Warte" in May 1942.

Studio portrait of Helga, Hilde, Helmut, Holde and Hedda Goebbels. The photograph was probably taken in 1940, in Berlin Wannsee.
The back is written by Magda herself, with best wishes for Christmas and the upcoming year in her name and in the name of "Helga, Hilde, Hellmut, Holde, Hedda and little Heide".
It strikes me how Magda writes Helmut's name. In fact, every time I have read his name written by her, she spells it "Hellmut".
The fact that the image depicts the 5 eldest children and "little Heide" is mentioned on the back, makes me think the photograph was probably taken during 1940, before Heide's birth, and it was used as a New Year 1940-1941 card.

1945
Letter written by Magda Goebbels from Schwanenwerder, dated February 1945, adressed to Helene ('Heli') Bouhler.
There's no date written on the letter, but the ink docket notes "12/2/1945". In the second picture, I underlined the word Kinder ("children") in red.
My dear Heli!
(...) A thousand thanks for thinking of me on my birthday and for the lovely chrysanthemums you sent me.
The children are growing and developing nicely and that is a great happiness for us. My husband works like a horse and I follow my obligations as well as I can. In this difficult time and with the added burden of more work for all of us I am nonetheless happy and in good form as far as my health is concerned. At the moment I am undergoing a course of injections for weight gain because I weigh only [?] kilograms. How much I long to see you again. If you don't come to Berlin I think I must invite myself to Nuszdorf. I would really like to do that after Christmas if you can't come to Berlin first. We are still in Schwanenwerder but at the end of the month we shall go to Berlin for three months.

These 3 photographs have just gone for sale in a German Auction House. They are described as "three previously unpublished recordings showing Rommel with Magda Goebbels and her children as well as Rommel's companions".
They are inscribed on the back and dated as "September 1942". I find the dating important, because in different picture and footage archives, Erwin Rommel's visit has been dated as of 1942-1943. However, Rommel's visit being dated as September 1942 is very possible, since the footage of Rommel's visit to Goebbels family was included in Joseph Goebbels birthday movie, which was premiered in October 1942.
Cropped close-ups included in the auction's description.

Locks of hair from Goebbels children
Bronze case that belonged to one of Goebbels children's nannies. According to the auction house, this case was a personal gift from Joseph Goebbels to one of their children's nannies. On the top of the case, there is a button bearing a sun wheel swastika. Size of the case: 18x14 cm.
Inside the case there are six locks of hair from Joseph Goebbels children. Sadly, no more information is given.
source: Ratisbons Auction House. Sadly, there isn't any official document that proves that these six locks of hair truly belonged to the Goebbels children, only the consignor's word.

HELP FOR TRANSLATION! 🤞
Hi everybody! I have recently found a handwritten letter by Magda Goebbels for sale. The letter is dated from Nov. 19, 1937, while she was pregnant with Hedda.
Sadly, in the Auction House’s website, the letter is not fully translated. In the item’s description, the following is mentioned “She mentions her own daughter Hilde, whom she would murder a few years later, adding: '...as soon as mine is out, I will send you a little [?]...' Goebbels speaks of her own pregnancy, as she carried Hedwig Johanna...also murdered by her mother at the age of six.”
I find this information very interesting and valuable for 2 main reasons:
1. Apart from this, there are not known letters written by Magda while being pregnant.
2. Most first-hand information we have about the children comes from Joseph’s diaries. However, Magda’s writings on her children are very scarce.
The main problem I am having with the translation is Magda’s handwriting, which a don’t understand at all.
Here I leave the direct links to the images, so you can see them in full size:

Hi! I saw your post about Magda’s letter a few hours ago and did my best do do a translation of it (except for a few words that I just could not make out for the life of me🫠). I do have a german version in my handwriting written down as well, if you’d like that too, but here’s what I’ve got. I hope this helps😊
My dear happy Mrs. Hess!
I can barely describe how happy I was this morning when I read the happy news of the birth of your son in the newspaper!
I went to Maria immediately with the news and the both of us had tears in our eyes!
Accept my deep and heartfelt congratulations for you, your dear husband and the smallest Hess!
Now the toughest hours are behind you and I hope from the bottom of my heart that it wasn’t too awful.
It is the biggest happiness of a woman but we pay for it with the biggest pain.
The beautiful thing is, that as soon as […], it’s all but forgotten!
How happy you have to be! I can completely relate to it. Back then, when I felt as if the elemental violence of the birth pains should’ve taken my life and I believed to plunge into a deep, deep abyss, I heard the words: “Ha! You’re […] the boy!!”
And from the abyss I climbed into the sky and had to confess with incessant crying:
“You’re the happiest woman in the world! Be aware that there cannot be a more beautiful moment in your entire life!”
This is what I think you must have felt like and I share your happiness that you got to experience it.
The hour in […], when I […] my little Hilde and you were there […] haunted me many times and that’s why my joy was so great when I heard the good news from your husband in the summer, that’s why my thoughts were with you so many times during the past months and that’s why my Mitfreude is so great now!
As soon as I get out of my loneliness and to Berlin, I’ll send you a small token of my Mitfreude.
Until then, I wish the three of you all, all good and the little guy a kiss!
(Hopefully it will be a ‘little guy’ again for me. My small one should come early in May!)
In warm friendship,
your Magda Goebbels
Thank you very much for the translation! This is wonderful! ❤️
Thank you also to user jg-archive, who is currently translating the letter. I am sure that with everybody's help we will finally "decipher" the full letter.

I got extremely happy when I found this photo, as it is, for the moment, the only photo showing the 6 Goebbels children together in 1943.

Hi Frida!
I was curious if you know how some of the people who knew the goebbels children well (such as their nanny hubner or their half brother Harald Quandt) reacted to the murder of the children?
Thanks for reading this question
Keep up the amazing work!
Hi! Thank you for your kind words and sorry for my delayed reply. I have been searching and searching to give you a most accurate answer, but I haven't been very successful. =(
Kathe Hubner: I am currently translating her book, and sadly it is more general and trivial than what I had thought. Regarding your question, this is what it was written on the book: "Kathe Hubner has not been able to understand the murder of the children up to date. Whether she has found a way to live with it, only she knows it. Four years after the end of the war, she got the news that her husband had fallen too. She got married again to a man with three children. Fate or coincidence?".
Harald Quandt: according to the book "Eight Days in May: The Final Collapse of the Third Reich": "In British captivity in the Lybian port of Benghazi, Harald Quandt learned via the BBC about the deaths of his mother, stepfather, and half-siblings. There is no record of his reaction, but he is known during his time as a POW to have distanced from his stepfather".
Erna Flegel (German nurse who took care of Goebbels children in the Führerbunker): "The kids were so charming. They played with each other. They should have been allowed to live. They had nothing to do with what was going on. It was impossible. But she (Frau Goebbels) didn't want it. She said: 'I belong to my husband and the children belong to me.' Not to spare one or two of the children was madness, dreadful.”
Brunhilde Pomsel (Joseph Goebbels' secretary) described being “dumbstruck” on hearing the new and declared “I will never forgive Goebbels for what he did to the world or for the fact that he murdered his innocent children”.

1941
1941 June 8. Letter written by Magda Goebbels to her friend, Marina Chaliapin.
Excerpt in which she mentions her children:
“On May 1st I went to the children, and they were all doing wonderfully. But the house was really too primitive and so I made up my mind and moved the entire household and children, 16 people. I simply rented a large van for 28 people and stowed everything, children, staff, my mother and me. All the luggage, strollers, beds, in short it was like the exodus of the children of Israel!! Now, they are at the Grundlsee…..It's a paradise for the kids! They are doing wonderfully…”
