yotsubana florals' other frequent loiterer + a bonding moment between kuroba & ichimatsu.
#i've mentioned that ichi is still intimidated by kuroba even after they cleared up the whole yakusa situation#this is the moment that smoothes things out between them#he basically stumbles on kuroba finding mugi chewing on their plants while they're out watering them ->#and immediately assumes that it won't end well but kuroba just gives mugi some catgrass & water to get them to stop#after that ichi tries to sneak away after he's sure the cat's alright but they meow at him so kuroba spots him and invites him over#mugi having a smoker's meow was inspired by one of my childhood cats sounding like she smoked 10 packs of virginia slims a day#also kuroba nicknamed them after ryegrass ( which is one of the types of plants used for catgrass )#this was one of the things i doodled this morning#osmt#ichimatsu#mj ocs#oc : kuroba#mj draws

Imagine how funny it’d be for everyone else when Kaito finally finds Pandora. The jeweler is nervous but otherwise resigned because, hey, at least he returns what he steals and the press coverage is able to cover most of the costs in property damage.
Then 3 weeks go by and the gem still isn’t back. Somehow, in some way, Kaito KID comes out with his statement: “I destroyed it. Sry not sorry lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It’s for the best, just trust me.”
#dcmk#magic kaito#detective conan#?? i guess#kaito kid#kuroba kaito#like for Kaito it would be the worst and best moment of his life. he’s finally succeeded and now gets to have a crisis#for everyone else?#just imagine the drama#they have no context for anything#do you understand

A spell for warmth, a spell for comfort, a blanket for silence.
Morgana paced about the room, he's all alone again. Well, that's to be expected when Ren is now going about his usual schedule of hanging out with other people after school, it's always a good thing to deepen his bond with others. And quite frankly, Morgana prefers that right now, to be alone. It helps, the silence, allowing his thoughts to be loud enough for him to think everything through properly. Though now'd he think about it, even with Ren around the silence still lingers, considering how he isn't much of a talker, yet despite that, it was warm. Silence blanketing him in a warmth just by the presence of someone else he trusts and care for as a friend. One of the first friends that Morgana even had ever since he woke up in… this form. A cat… How useless.
They defeated Okumura, accomplished their mission and now all they have to do is wait, like always. But the feelings of self-doubt doesn't vanish just as easily as that, the feelings of uselessness that lingers even though a day or two had passed. He mostly had been pushing such feelings at the back of his mind the past couple of days, the air around them is still somewhat tense, with the public believing in the Phantom Thieves more and more. It isn't just them waiting on Okumura's change of heart now, but the majority of the public too. Not to mention having a new addition to the team means some readjustments in strategies and training so that Haru could get used to it all. There just hasn't been time for Morgana to focus on his feelings at all. Was there even a reason to?
He'll get over this in the future anyway. Right, he can prove to everyone just how helpful and useful he can be in the future! There will be more opportunities then! So there's really no need to linger on it… Really…
Morgana huffed, in the end, he still feels a bit heavy.
He then heard the sound of footsteps climbing up the stairs, that might be Ren, so Morgana stood still, shaking his head and took a deep breath to compose himself. It'll be fine, he shouldn't worry Ren about this.
“You're bac—”
Ah. It's just Kaito.
Kaito laughed, “Whoa, I never thought I'd see a cat quickly shift expressions from excited to disappointed in seconds!”
Morgana sighed, though it only came out as a huff. Well, at least this time he didn't mimic Ren's voice.
“Heeey~ Cat got your tongue?” Kaito teased.
Ugh, Morgana doesn't have the time nor the energy to deal with this. Kaito can't even understand him so what's the point in speaking? It'll only come out as meows so Morgana can't even just tell him to shut up or leave him alone. This is the worst, he'd rather talk to Ryuji instead.
With another huff, Morgana tried his best to glare at Kaito before turning around to lay on the cough, curling his body into a ball and putting a paw on his ears, he knows it's useless with how sensitive cat's ears are but muffling even just some of Kaito's voice is enough for him and maybe, just maybe, it'll come off as a clear message that Morgana doesn't wanna listen to him at all.
Seconds pass in silence.
A moment, and then another. And yet… Morgana can still feel someone's gaze on him.
UGH! SERIOUSLY JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!
Morgana stood and quickly turned to face Kaito with the intent to hiss and bare his teeth, much like an annoyed cat would, it'd be obvious then, right?
But… he stopped midway.
Kaito still stood by the stairs, a serious expression on his face, it was rare for him to have such an expression when he's always smiles and tricks. His eyes were focused on Morgana, scanning his body from top to bottom, what is he looking for exactly?
“You—” Though Morgana knew only a meow would reach Kaito's ears, he couldn't help but try to speak anyway.
“Are you upset about something?” An attempt that was cut-off by Kaito's sudden question.
What… What is he—
Kaito's lips curled into a small smile, one that strangely feels genuine, not unlike the others he had which only felt like… a mask, “Eheheh, I don't know. It just feels like it. You're a smart kitty so I thought that maybe… … Say, can I sit next to you?”
. . .
Morgana doesn't really know what's happening anymore. Kaito is enshrouded in one too many mysteries, possibly even more than that Detective Prince. How can he figure that out when he can't even understand what Morgana's saying in the first place? Just from body language? Of a CAT? …Aren't all cats supposed to be easily irritated and annoyed?
. . .
Morgana huffed, he moved over to the other end of the couch, allowing space for Kaito to sit down on.
“Thanks!” Kaito sat down, seemingly making sure to leave out enough space between them.
“So… Hmm…” Kaito put a hand on his chin, deep in thought, most likely figuring out on how to cheer up a cat.
Morgana can't help but feel slightly moved by that.
“Uhh… I don't really know how to cheer up a cat. I don't even know what you're upset about.” He chuckled, “I doubt I can even figure that one out!”
A beat of silence pass, though strangely it wasn't as cold as before.
“How about…” He grinned, flicking his hand, a red rose appeared seemingly out of thin air, “some magic tricks?”
Morgana huffed, in his head he wore a smirk, such an expression not quite easily done on a cat's face, “What other magic tricks are there anyway?”
After all, Kaito has done at least a number of it already whenever he's around them. He seems to really enjoy doing it.
“Oh? Is that possibly doubt towards the many tricks up my sleeves?” Kaito wagged his finger while clicking his tongue, “Never doubt a magician's tricks, smart feline!”
And with a toothy grin, Kaito stood up, opening his arms wide as he announced, “Welcome to Kaito's special magic show! I'll be sure to make you smile, my furry friend.”
Morgana huffed, in a friendly mocking tone, as a means to take up Kaito's challenge, and another as a way to say “Cat's can't smile, dumbass.”
“Ehehehe! Keep your eyes peeled now! You don't wanna miss a second of this after all!”
Frankly, Morgana's problems still lingers, something he'd have to deal with in the future. But despite that, he didn't feel as heavy as before. In the comfort of the couch, Morgana watched a magician weaved spells in the form of tricks, all to cheer up a mere cat. And maybe, that's all Morgana needed today.
#ariawrites#persona 5#morgana#magic kaito#kaito kuroba#ngl i didnt expect this one to get this long (just around 1k words) still tbf its longer than the prev ones i did thats just#around 600-700 words (was making sure to not get it too long for the tumblr post but alas... i cant cut this one any shorter)#also hmmmmmm maaaaybe i should start posting these in ao3 too??? maybe. not sure. still scary but at least#itd be more organized in ao3 than here in tumblr but also-- kinda scary... i dont want the either fandom to perceive me#through the insanity that is my lil crossover fics of kaito being in p5. just seems scary but maaaaybe in the future i can#work up the courage for it? maybe. but for now. have at thee! kaito in p5 with morgana friendship! i love their friendship...#love how easily i can get these two with moments of being alone cuz theres akiren being busy with the confidants#he'd have his moment too dw. just gotta get through some more arcs and then itll be time for actual jokid content from me

Aoyama's Let's Talk Day 2025 Translation [Unofficial Sources]
Yesterday was Aoyama’s yearly Let’s Talk Day, a day when a lucky few audience members chosen by lottery have the chance to ask him questions. While the Q&A hasn’t yet been officially released, I’ve translated tweets about the questions asked. I can’t guarantee that they’re 100% trustworthy, but generally most questions were posted by multiple unrelated users.
In cases where different users reported slightly different answers for the same question, I consolidated them to the best of my ability. All source tweets at the end. Without further ado:
Q. When Gin travels to other countries, does he stay at hotels, or does he have safe houses? I want to know whether he uses hotel-provided amenities like bathrobes.
A. He sleeps in his car or stays at Organization-provided lodging- the Organization has apartments all over the place. He does also stay at hotels. The FBI still hasn’t discovered them. He does wear bathrobes! He has long hair so I imagine it’s tough to wash.
Q. What sports does the England-born Akai play aside from Jeet Kune Do?
A. He learnt Jeet Kune Do from his father, so has no interest in sports other than that. But I think he might be good at cricket since he’s English. Maybe baseball in America.
Q. Does Hiro have any experience with martial arts?
A. He learnt some at the police academy. He has no other experience, but he’s decently strong- weaker than Kyogoku though.
Q. As you were a guest on Kōhaku Uta Gassen [T/N: A music show that traditionally airs around New Year’s in Japan] this year, do you have plans to write a case based around it?
A. I doubt NHK would let me (haha) I did think a music show case might be fun, but they’d probably still bother me about it.
[Questioner: What if you changed the name? Like, a West vs. East tournament.]
I’ll think about it.
Q. Will the Kuroba family and Kudo family meet each other in the future?
A. Is that something you want to see? I’ll think about it.
Q. What will Momiji do now that Heiji and Kazuha are dating?
A. I don’t think Momiji will give up? She’ll do her best.
Q. How can you think up so many different characters?
A. I don’t know (haha) Maybe because I’ve seen lots of different manga, dramas, and movies.
[Questioner: So they just pop up in your mind.]
Something like that.
Q. Do you plan to write a story where Chihaya and Furuya meet?
A. Ah, so Chihayafuru, you mean (haha) It sounds interesting, so I’ll think about it.
Q. What can you tell us about this year’s movie at this point?
A. When I told Rikiya Koyama [T/N: Mouri’s VA] that Kogoro is the main character this year, he told me he was nervous. Once he was done, Takayama-san [T/N: Conan’s VA] told him he sounded cool.
Q. What’s the best part of this year’s movie?
A. I can’t say, but I think you’ll be shocked.
Q. What’s your favourite case so far?
A. Ran GIRL & Shinichi BOY. I love it.
Q. How did Kogoro manage to become a detective without deductive abilities?
A. He doesn’t have deductive abilities, but he’s good at shooting and judo. And he has Conan around. Everything works out.
Q. Was Nakamori Aoko born in September?
A. When is good?
[Questioner: Since Kaito was born on the 21st, maybe the 12th?]
I’ll think about it. I haven’t decided, but since Kaito’s birthday is June 21st (6/21), maybe September 12th (9/12) makes sense.
Q. What kind of things does Ran talk about with her karate club friends?
A. What would you like?
[Questioner: Romance talk!]
I do think they chat about that. Everyone would be interested to hear about how things are going with Shinichi. If a scene like that ever comes to mind, I’ll think about including it.
Q. What is Furuya’s family situation like?
A. Secret, as I haven’t decided for certain just yet- it might still change.
Q. Will you ever draw the moment Kazuha fell for Heiji?
A. Do you want to see it? I might.
Q. At Abeno Harukas, Heiji confessed and was holding hands with Kazuha, but did Heiji initiate the hand-holding?
A. Yes. I don’t know if I’ll ever draw that though.
Q. At Kōhaku Uta Gassen, were there any artists you enjoyed other than aiko, B’Z, and Fukuyama-san?
A. Ah, I can’t think of anyone but them. But they were all good. B’z was amazing. It was all dark in the audience seating, but when I thought “oh, something is moving,” it was truly amazing by the end. B’z is my choice! (haha)
Q. Do you have any plans for a spinoff featuring Hattori?
A. Like Zero’s Tea Time?
[Questioner: More like Hanzawa-san.]
What’s the difference between Zero’s Tea Time and Hanzawa-san? Did you want a spinoff? There’s no plans for one right now.
Q. Are there any characters you plan to have romantic developments for in the near future?
A. Kansuke and Yui, and Juugo and Chihaya… aside from that [glances at the moderator] that character… if I say who it is, we’ll get flamed online, so… (haha)
[The audience goes abuzz]
Well, yes. I can’t tell you right now (haha). Let’s leave it at that.
Q. What’s the plan for next year’s movie?
A. I can’t say, but they do already have it planned.
Q. Who will be the star of next year’s movie?
A. I can’t say, but it’s already been decided as well as the stage.
Q. I’m from Hokkaido. Do you have plans to draw any famous tourist spots in Sapporo?
A. Hakodate was recently the stage, so it would need to be some time in the future. Any recommendations?
[Questioner: Suzukake Park, Oodori Park, Sapporo TV Tower.]
Ah, got it, I’ll think about it.
Q. We know that Azusa has worked at Poirot for at least one year, but how long has she worked there in total?
A. I don’t know. Maybe since she was in high school. Oops, I just said whatever.
Q. Any plans for a movie set in Tottori?
A. Not at this time. I’ll think about it. I did try to incorporate the Tottori dialect once, but I was told it was incomprehensible. Tottori dialect is pretty hard. If we do a movie here, I’d like it to use Tottori dialect.
Q. It seems Momiji won’t give up even now that Heiji and Kazuha have gotten together, but will Iori continue to serve Momiji in the same way? Will he ever leave due to his old work?
A. He’ll be by her side forever. I think he’ll protect her until the day he dies.
Q. What would you want to eat at a Conan café?
A. Naporitan spaghetti. I have childish tastebuds, so I also like Hamburg steak and hamburgers.
Q. I like aiko, so I want to hear the behind-the-scenes details about your talk with her on Kōhaku Uta Gassen.
A. During our preparatory meeting, I asked whether I should say “Funya!”, but I was told I couldn’t (because it’s from a different agency.) [T/N: Not familiar with this myself, but maybe it’s some idol’s catchphrase or a reference to a show.]
[Questioner: After meeting aiko, did any murder case ideas come to mind?]
No (haha) It would be sad to kill her off. Maybe a case with a singer involved… I’ll think about it. Aiko was cute.
Q. Kurayoshi’s phone number area code is an important plot point in Conan, but will the city be involved in the future?
A. A coincidence. Kurayoshi residents will get mad at me otherwise.
Q. What did you do for New Year’s as a child?
A. Usually my family would ask me to visit a shrine with them, but I’d stay at home since it was too much of a pain. These days, I always go for my health. [T/N: In Japan, it’s tradition to visit a shrine on the first day of the new year.]
Q. What’s Inspector Ayanokouji’s personal life like? What are his hobbies?
A. He feeds Maro-chan. Hobbies… I wonder. He does like Maro-chan. What would you like?
[Questioner: Something like archery.]
Archery? Well, I’ll think about it.
Q. Do you have any plans for a triple date with Heiji-Kazuha, Shinichi-Ran, and Kyougoku-Sonoko?
A. I hadn’t thought of that before, but I’ll think about it.
[Questioner: So you don’t plan to think about it.]
Sorry (haha).
Q. Any information on Akai and Amuro’s chat nine hours later?
A. I can’t say. It’s a truly mysterious tea party (haha)
Q. In your Professional interview, you were eating curry, but is there any other food or snacks you like to eat while working?
A. I only really eat cheap stuff, so (haha) I’m really into the beef don mini-pack from Yoshinoya- it’s a pretty small portion. It’s healthy and good. Also, curry from Coco.
Q. The Saitama prefecture is right next to Tokyo, but has never made an appearance. Any plans for Saitama prefecture police to appear?
A. Yokomizo did show up in Saitama at first, but he did move to Shizuoka, so (haha) I tried to have him go back, but I was told that then it just seemed like he never moved at all. I’ll write about Saitama eventually. I’ll think about it.
Q. What does Kazuha like aside from aikido?
A. She likes Heiji… (haha) I think she likes cooking just like others like her would. Do you have any thoughts on what she might like?
[Questioner: What…]
[Moderator: Well, that’s what they wanted to know in the first place.]
I’ll think about it.
Q. I’m from Taiwan. Conan has only ever gone to England in the manga. Will he ever go to another country in the manga, not the movies?
A. It would be tough while he’s still Conan, as he doesn’t have a passport. His only choice is for Kid to stuff him into a suitcase, but I can’t use the same trick twice (haha) I’d like to go to Taiwan one day.
Q. Akai and Amuro infiltrated the Organization and know about Sherry, but don’t know of the existence of APTX4869?
A. They do not. There’s a reason why the details of her research and her family isn’t well-known in the Organization, but that’s secret. Even parents wouldn’t tell their children about it in the Organization.
Q. Do you plan to introduce any new Organization operatives?
A. What would you like?
[Questioner: Amaretto!]
I'll think about it.
Q. Do you plan to draw Shinichi and KID facing off?
A. Shinichi. You mean big Shinichi, huh? I’d love to. (haha)
Q. What last name do you like, or would like to have?
A. Kudo! (haha) Since Kudo Yuusaku as portrayed by Matsuda Yuusaku was cool. If I can, I’d love to become one! (haha)
Q. Did you decide that Heiji would confess on a tall Osaka building even before the Abeno Harukas tower was completed? [T/N: It opened in 2014]
A. I decided after the Abeno Harukas tower was completed. But I did know from the start that Kazuha’s mother would make an appearance to include a twist.I wanted everyone to think that he’d confess to her mother by mistake.
Q. Who’s stronger between Kogoro and Ran?
A. That’s quite the question (haha) Kogoro is strong! But, Ran is catastrophically strong too (haha). I think it’s hard to say? But if they fought against each other, he’d probably hold back against Ran. Since he’s her dad.
Q. You can really feel the cultural differences between Kyushu and Tokyo. Do you plan to write a case based on that?
A. I’d like to.
Q. Do you have any special tidbits for us aside from what you’ve already told us?
A. Kansuke and Yui and Koumei’s childhood will appear in the movie. Take a good look at the illustration I drew for the Conan Tanteisha store as well.
Q. Anything you’d want to incorporate into Tottori’s Mystery Tour? Tourist spots and restaurants you’d recommend?
A. I’d like them to make use of Tottori’s Odaiba, crabs, and apple-pears.
Q. Who’s the tallest among all your characters?
A. Date and Gin! Kyougoku is a little shorter, but those three are the tallest. Kazami is too tall in the anime. He should be the same height as Furuya. [T/N: One source also claimed he said that Gin is taller than Date.]
Q. Will Miyano Shiho and Kudo Shinichi ever star in the same case?
A. Ah, I can’t tell you that. Whoops, I almost let something slip (haha)

Can I trouble you with an ask about the Kurobas' parenting style? Pretty please elaborate on how they are both bad parents.
Alright, buckle up cause this is kinda angsty.
So, there’s something disturbingly manipulative about the Kurobas' parenting style.
Imagine being Kuroba Kaito, a 16-year-old boy who idolizes your deceased father, cherishing every lesson he taught you. One day, you stumble upon a secret room hidden beneath your own bedroom, and what you discover shatters your world: your beloved father, your role model, was Kaito KID—the world's most wanted criminal. You’re left feeling shocked and confused. You desperately want answers, but there’s no one around to provide them. In your desperation, the only logical thing you can think of is to step into your father’s shoes. So, you put on the Phantom Thief’s mantle, becoming the new Kaito KID.
Not long after, you uncover another devastating truth: your father's death wasn’t an accident—it was murder. Fueled by rage, you vow to find those responsible pay.
Except, your father isn’t really dead.
The most terrifying revelation is the implication that Toichi's fake death and Chikage’s absence are part of a long-term plan they’ve been orchestrating for over eight years.
Toichi and Chikage have conditioned Kaito to believe that he's good enough to become Kaito KID.
His father drilled the importance of maintaining a poker face into him, a skill that’s invaluable for a magician to remain composed and unshaken under pressure. For a performer, that advice is crucial to keep a show continued. But in this case, there’s no "show"—only real peril. It’s as if his father’s teaching to " Don't forget your Poker Face" was his way of saying, "Tell no one"
Not only that, his mother's lack of presence at the most convenient moment has left Kaito no other choice but to rely on the assistance of Jii, a 60-year-old man.
They are aware of what was coming for Kaito when he became KID—the enemies he’d face, the dangers he'd be thrown into. And yet, they still let him take on the mantle, knowingly exposing him to danger.
Not to mention, his room is dominated by a large photo of his "dead" father, serving as a constant reminder of the man he idolized. It reinforced his father’s presence in his life, deepening the sense of indoctrination with every glance.
If this was a deliberate act of parental manipulation, where they conditioned their only child to continue their criminal legacy as Kaito KID, it would be one of the darkest plot twists of all time—a reflection of twisted parental indoctrination, where Kaito was raised to unknowingly carry out their dangerous plans.
I'm aware that this isn't the author's intentions, but it's fascinating how, when viewed through a darker lens, the Kuroba family dynamic could be interpreted as psychological horror.

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Detective Conan Rating: G Relationships: Kudou Shinichi/Kuroba Kaito Summary: Kuroba Kaito is certain that Kudo Shinichi knows who he is—and why would he not? They spent nearly three years dismantling a crime syndicate together! Nakamori Aoko is certain that he is delusional, but a new case on their college campus has a strange way of bringing old acquaintances together… Or, in which Shinichi is certain that he’s just forgotten an overly-friendly classmate of his and tries not to give away his poor recollection of said classmate, all while trying to navigate a murder mystery that isn’t quite as simple as it seems.
My contribution to this year's Secret Santa event, hosted by @dcmkkaishinevents ! Happy Holidays/Christmas/Secret Santa to Mimay!
Also! Huge thank you to @rux363 and @sliverofstars, my tireless beta-readers, without whom this fic wouldn't have been possible!!
.
(Excerpt from the fic)
.
“Say, Kudo-kun,” Hakuba says suddenly, like the absolute bastard Kaito knows him to be, “have you met my friend here?”
Shinichi pauses, noodles dangling from his chopsticks, and glances at Kaito. Not that he will ever admit it, but under those piercing blue eyes, set in a much larger face than he remembers, Kaito freezes for a brief moment.
“Uh,” Shinichi licks his lips, looking a little bewildered as he looks at Hakuba and then Aoko, who is also waiting carefully for his answer, before cautiously saying, “yes?”
Ha! Kaito mentally pumps his fist, a grin threatening to break past his lips when Shinichi continues:
“Kuroba and I share a class—human psychology.” Shinichi nods at him. “Right?”
Under Aoko’s and Hakuba’s triumphant gaze, he replies weakly, “Right.”

Somehow a thought of "Kaito looks through Pandora but something weirdly cognitive happens instead of just it glowing red" sparked off "P4 crossover: just how fucked is Kaito if he wound up on the Midnight Channel?"
Like... Shinichi, if he was thrown in, would have the element of "most of the population would think that's sci-fi/fantasy, not real life, and laugh it off if they saw" but if even a handful of random people saw something that had Kuroba Kaito blatantly admitting to being Kid? His life would be SHAMBLES. It would be OVER for him.
Part of me thinks that'd be a fun thing to play with, but part of me's just... I'd want the concept of the dungeon maybe, but with not just the Investigation Team but also that if say, Hakuba and/or Aoko were there too, the IT wouldn't need to bother with hearing details, because that'd be sorted. They'd see one showing, if that, depending on the weather.
Heck, maybe Kaito would be particularly infuriating, spy on random people, see the killer saying or doing something he really shouldn't be, and he gets shoved in without any planning. Maybe the first show doesn't even give all that much away - but the moment anyone who's In The Know sees the silhouette of Kid, they start realising that this is potentially the worst case scenario and start moving really quickly.
I've always thought Kaito's persona would be something like an alternate read on Arsène Lupin, because of course it would, and would probably look closer to his dad in Kid's outfit than anything else. As for elements? Probably Bless.
And of course Shadows aren't the nice things you repress, so... it'd be everything Kaito keeps hidden under his Poker Face; the trauma of losing his dad, the fear of losing everyone he cares about to secrets, the fear of being arrested and killed, the fact that this is a vigilante revenge trip for him, so some part of him would want to make these people suffer for what they've done to his dad, and what they want to do to him, the way he doesn't trust detectives...
Shadow Kaito saying hurtful things like wait, you think I care about Aoko? She's just a useful means to an end, at this point, I wouldn't put up with her otherwise and I much prefer it when Hakuba's away because who wants someone like that coming after you? It's no wonder he doesn't have any friends if that's how he is but also I'm better off on my own, aren't I? So what if the detectives have all the connections - the more people who know who you are, the more can screw you over in the end.
Kaito refusing all of it and denying it and the others having to fight a terrifying monstrous Kid-a-like Shadow that makes them attack their teammates and puts them to sleep and hurts them, which is going to end up in Kaito's nightmares.
His Shadow being defeated and now... now it's not a scary and angry and spewing hate, it's just small and fully expecting to be pushed away, because that's what he does to other people, and... Kaito has to go up, and accept it.
Accept that yeah, he has used Aoko like that more than he should have. That yeah, he's let his fear of Hakuba just doing the detective thing and turning him in blind him to the fact that the guy is also just lonely and in need of friends. And... yeah, he hasn't been trying to connect with others as much as he could.
They go back to Ekoda and everyone's wondering what the heck even happened, because Kaito is different. Not a bad different - he seems kind of happier and more confident. But definitely changed.

You know how the first KID called himself Shinichi's younger brother (courtesy of Yuusaku reading 1412 wrong after Shinichi was born)? In a world where they aren't related how do you imagine this impacting KaiShin dynamics?
I had the funny thought of Conan scolding Touichi as the elder brother for being a bad adult.
My girlfriend and I have a whole au about this.
Well, specifically Kaito and Shinichi meeting each other as children, in that au Shinichi and Toichi get along very badly. I like to think of it as the AU where a 40 year old man with a single mother complex has a rivalry with a weird 5 year old boy. But back to your question...
Well, let's imagine Shinichi asked Yuusaku about the brother thing, knowing Yuusaku he would say something like:
"Oh yeah, you have a very troublesome little brother."
Shinichi is perfectly fine with the idea, he likes being an older brother, however, this makes him start asking Yuusaku a lot of questions.
Shinichi is smart, but he's still young, so he assumes that "he's the older brother, because the other young man came later into his parents' lives", he assumes that his "younger brother" is adopted, and the reason he doesn't live with them is because the "younger brother" must be 17 or something (he'll be going to college soon, he assumes). Shinichi only accepts this fact because his parents are weird, something he confirms over the years.
He keeps the memory of “having a younger brother” deep in his mind. And he doesn't remember it at all until, years later, he realizes who his “younger brother” really is and discovers that his deduction was wrong.
But because he finds the fact funny, in the next heist he attends, he calls Kaito his “younger brother”, and Kaito takes it as a funny joke but is confused.
“Apparently, it's something your predecessor had with my father.”
“I see, I had no idea about that, I assume my predecessor called you that way because your father was the one who named 1412 right?”
“Yes, although I thought your predecessor would tell you.”
In a moment of confidence, Kaito dares to reveal a secret.
“I wasn't supposed to take his place.”
Shinichi certainly never thought about KID's predecessor until that funny coincidence happened, but he also didn't expect this revelation, which started to make everything even stranger.
"What do you mean by that?"
"The world works in very curious ways, but you know that better than me, don't you? Little detective."
This only makes Shinichi have doubts about why KID steals.
That "I wasn't supposed to take his place" thing haunts him and brings up questions, like, "What happened to KID's predecessor? Why was there an 8-year hiatus? Was someone other than the KID he knows and (loves) going to be the new KID? Why did (his) KID have to take his place if that was the case? Does KID even want to be KID? So they would never have met if he never became KID?" The last two thoughts make him want to investigate.
He needs information, so he decides he first has to find out who KID's predecessor is. He searches for skilled magicians from 8 years ago and comes across Kuroba Toichi, who is deceased and then finds out that he was married and had a son, a son who is almost his age.
It's not hard to figure out who the current KID is.
Neither is it hard to figure out that KID isn't looking for something, but for someone.
Finding out that KID is actually seeking revenge gave him clarity and concern. While KID has never killed or seriously injured anyone, “What about them? With the people who killed his father, he might not be so forgiving.”
Shinichi doesn’t have the full picture, so he has to ask KID. It’s risky, but the next time they meet and are alone, Shinichi calls him “Kuroba Kaito,” KID simply laughs and says, “Is that supposed to mean something?” Shinichi continues and replies, “I know why you steal.”
“Well, what’s your theory?”
“It’s not a theory, you want revenge.”
“Have you told anyone about your theory yet?”
“No, I want you to tell me what you’re planning.”
“What if I don’t want to?”
“…”
“Please tell me.”
“Aren’t you going to threaten me with arrest?”
"You'll disappear if I do."
"I'm not going to stop you… unless you're planning on killing someone."
KID laughs, this doesn't seem funny to Shinichi, who is genuinely worried, there are people who kill for revenge. He doesn't want KID to end up like that!
"Oh, don't look at me like that, I'm not making fun of you, anyway, you don't have to worry, I'm not going to kill anyone, I've never had that desire, but you're not wrong, I'm looking for revenge."
All this text, to say that I think that if Shinichi had a clue about Kaito's reasons for stealing he would probably be more understanding of him (and he would be very worried, I mean, the mysterious and nice guy he sees once a month and who has mostly only provided him with help could be planning a murder). He doesn't want KID to be another criminal.
Anyway, I think that Kaito noticing Shinichi's good will would lead him to open up to him, telling him the truth, although omitting details: "that he is looking for a jewel to destroy it, because the people who killed his father want it, and that is his way of revenge" and perhaps more explicitly how "he feels he has to do this, because he never got over his father's death and hopes that this will help him move on."
Shinichi offers to help, and in the middle of the way, as they get closer, he realizes a somewhat dark truth.
Kaito's father never died.
Maybe it's because of the way Kaito talked, so melancholic, so happy, with so much adoration, that something inside him twists every time he's mentioned.
And of course, he can't help but yell at him the first time he sees him. Kaito has to hold him down so he doesn't punch him in the face.
"Shinichi, stop, you're going to hurt yourself!"
"Okay, okay, I'll calm down…"
Once Kaito lets go, Shinichi lunges at Toichi again.
"No, Shinichi…!"
Lmao, I'm amused to think of Shinichi being angrier than Kaito himself for that. And god, sorry for all the text, I just started typing it.

Imagine that Aoko doesn't marry Kaito but instead marries an officer from her workplace. Later, she has a child with him, but that officer dies while investigating a case.
Well, a few days ago, one night, this idea came to mind, and I wanted to share it with someone. I hope you enjoy what I imagined while daydreaming. 😅
Unlike Aoko, who worked in the anti-theft section, her husband worked in the homicide cases section.
Kaito never confessed his feelings to Aoko because of his work as Kaito Kid. He destroyed his organization when he was just starting out as a magician in his civilian form. Over time, Kaito and Aoko gradually grew apart.
Kaito learns about Aoko again when she invites him to her wedding. There, he meets the man, who has a kind-hearted character and doesn’t want to hurt Aoko. The man also has a strong sense of justice, just like Aoko.
After the wedding, Kaito distances himself even more from Aoko and only sees her at his magic shows (which are very few in Japan), along with her husband, who, thanks to Aoko, has become a big fan of Kaito.
The next time they have a decent interaction is at Aoko's husband's funeral. There, Kaito meets her son and her husband, who is only 5 years old. It is at that moment that Kaito learns how Aoko's husband died.
Aoko's son is named Souta. I gave him this name because, like Aoko and Midoriko, I wanted his name to have a color. While searching, I came across the name Souta (蒼太), which means:
蒼 (Sou): "deep blue" or "verdant," related to a bluish-green color that evokes nature and the sky.
太 (Ta): "big," "robust," or "important," giving a connotation of strength or magnitude.
One might wonder if Kaito still loves Aoko, but he decided to step aside because he saw that she truly loved her husband. Kaito had several relationships after that, though none of them were serious.
Aoko didn’t cry at her husband’s funeral until Ginzo took her grandson away. It was then that Kaito hugged her and said, "You can cry as much as you need," and in that moment, she collapsed into his arms.
Although after this, Kaito resumes contact with Aoko, it is only by phone. He doesn't have much contact with Souta, as he is the spitting image of his father, both in personality and appearance. Kaito doesn’t hate the child or his father, but he doesn’t want to form a bond because he doesn’t want the child, who is still sensitive about his father’s death, to think that he wants to take his place. Also, even though that man was his romantic rival, Kaito came to see him as a friend.
The next time Kaito sees Aoko in person is in a police case, but in this case, it is led by Shinichi Kudo, who reopened the investigation that Aoko's husband had been working on. Why is Kaito here? Well, Kudo called him because he has a lead suggesting that the person who killed Aoko's husband might be connected to the men from the organization that Kaito destroyed.
After solving the case, although Aoko is still upset with Kaito for finding out only now that he was Kaito Kid, she tells him that if he wants to repay her in some way, he should come back into her life and Souta’s. (The boy is also a big fan of Kaito, but Aoko didn’t instill this in him, as at that time she felt some resentment toward him for distancing himself. After the wedding, the person who instilled his admiration for the great magician Kaito Kuroba was his father.) Kaito accepted, and although he can't visit them much due to his work as a magician, he always sends them gifts from the places where he performs his shows.
The name I liked for Aoko's husband is Masaki (正樹), whose full meaning is "Tree of Justice," because I wanted a name that reflected that he was a strong person and, as I mentioned earlier, had a strong sense of justice.
Once, Aoko asked her husband why he talked so much about Kaito's magic to their son if he knew it bothered her. He replied, "Because I love seeing how Souta's eyes shine, just like yours did when you watched his live shows."
Aoko never fell in love with Kaito in high school; she started developing feelings for him after they rekindled their friendship.
When Kaito is performing his shows in the city, the boy visits him during his rehearsals, along with the occasional lunch that Aoko prepares for him before going to work.
The boy is allowed to go, and the staff has gotten used to his presence. Some even joke that they wouldn’t be surprised if Kaito adopts the boy.
Aoko started making him lunches as a way of thanking him for always taking care of the boy when he's in the city, and because she had heard from the staff that Kaito often skipped lunch to make sure everything was perfect for his shows.
The fact that Souta is close to Kaito doesn’t mean he didn’t adore his father, as one of the reasons the boy is so attached to magic is because his father was the one who introduced him to it when he took him to one of Kaito Kuroba's shows. For him, seeing Kaito’s magic is like having his dad close again. Kaito, for this reason, empathizes a lot with the boy, as he knows what it’s like to lose a father (in this headcanon, Toichi is dead).
Thank you again for reading my craziness. Have a wonderful holiday season! :3 ♥♥♥

Kaishin secret santa 2023
This is a Kaishin roleswap au for @blueamphibians! I hope you enjoy this art + my ramblings on the au underneath. Because of course, I couldn't just leave it as one piece of art haha (ehem please buckle in for preparation)
Many thanks to @dcmkkaishinevents / Mack for hosting this event, it was super fun participating and interacting with the community <3 <3 As a side note, I would absolutely recommend it to others who are considering signing up next year. Everyone is very friendly!
(Hey Blue, I had more art planned but unfortunately many things came up. But I hope you enjoy this anyways! I might draw some more for you later ^-^ Thanks so much for this prompt <3 <3)
Edit: I have decided that now you will receive a completed arts + ramblings + some WIPs behind the scene hahahaha https://www.tumblr.com/cyndraws/737208478471487488/kaishin-secret-santa-2023-extras-basically-wips?source=share
AU ramblings under the cut (ngl it's a lot):
Random details and notes that don't really fit anywhere. Mostly about the fanart:
Kaito is 1 year older than Shin and is taller than him
This scene is set over the Haido City hotel. In the distance you can see Shiriyomi Trust Hotel (can't full recognise it behind Kaito but I assure you I drew it lol), Tokyo tower (easy to spot) and Roppongi Hills Mori Tower (Just behind Shin on the right, the one with the lights in a --u-- shape) Main reference: https://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Haido_City_Hotel
I was also screaming at the Kaishin pic in ED70 throughout this LMAO.
Kaito breaks through Shinichi's mysterious KID persona in this drawing and Shinichi shyly reveals his face behind the mask. Kaito then produces a blue flower, claiming it matches Shinichi's beautiful eyes (he's also the one who bred it)
Kaito has extra pockets sewn into his uniform to carry more tricks. This wasn't really necessary in canon, but here, Kaito has to be prepared to investigate at any moment.
Lmao help me render hair *stares at Kaito's* Cool effect but not quite right. I need to go experiment later.
Kaito/Shin getting shrunk (aka Conan situation) never happens in this au. But Haibara and the other victims are still around. Haibara still lives at the professor's.
~
Background:
Yusaku was much more entangled and involved with Toichi and his fight with the Black Org. Side note but in this au, Snake is from a division of the Black Org
As a result, they both end up being killed during the fateful accident. Yes, both Shinichi and Kaito are there for it. They were going to be introduced to each other on that day, but well,,, we can see the way it ended.
It wasn't well known that the Kuroba and Kudo family were close at all. Extra vigilance was taken after the funerals to ensure their safety. Their families parted ways for the better or worse after thsi event.
Yusaku's and Toichi's friendship/rivalry included collaborating for some heists, having a second secret base in the Kudo mansion, and Yusaku donning the Night Baron costume... even if he was just hidden in a car and sending information to Toichi via an earpiece lol.
After their husbands' deaths, Yukiko and Chikage meet up occasionally and travel together in secret.
~
Shinichi:
Shinichi never became a famous detective. The years after Yusaku died in the tragic accident, Yukiko and him tried their best to move on with varying success. Shinichi's dream to become a famous detective never came to fruition.
This was because for various reasons including not having Yusaku's guiding hand to develop Shin's detective skills, was only being taken to crime scenes for a year, and of course the trauma.
After avoiding detective work as much as he could (well considering that he's still a corpse magnet), Shinichi finally starts to dig through his memories. From then, he uncovered a strange inconsistency with the logic of his father's death and starts to obsess over the idea that it was a murder.
Shin painstakingly and slowly investigates in the shadows with his *ehem* admittedly rusty detective skills and chases after the very little crumbs left by the organisation. What he uncovers is that the accident wasn't one at all, but premeditated murder by an encompassing third party.
Shinichi finally finds a lead to,,, Jii Konosuke. This takes quite a few years, and Shinichi is 15 when he confronts Jii.
Jii reveals everything after Shinichi's deduction and also mistaking him for Kaito. And such Shinichi is brought into the fold. Shinichi also makes up his mind to take on the KID mantle, greatly sympathising with the fellow teen whose father was also involved.
The years after Shinichi uncovers the truth, he learns many skills such as disguise, acting and magic from Jii and Chikage. However, his magic skills will never be on par with Kaito's.
Shinichi in this au has more acting and disguise skills from living with his mother. She passed this skills onto him, and they bonded over it to recover from their grief.
When Shinichi is 17, he officially takes on the role of KID. Chikage permanently locked the KID cave in the Kuroba house, and the KID cave settled in its new home in the Kudo mansion. Inside the second base previously used by Toichi and Yusaku.
Shinichi as KID:
Well, he's just as dramatic as Kaito in canon, but it's a different kind of dramatic. Shin is more of a mysterious and cryptic phantom thief and wears a menacing Night Baron mask. He overall speaks less, and when he does, he says a lot of dramatic lines. Like in theatre almost, with plenty of double meanings.
He takes on a lot of aspects from the Phantom Lady and Jii's interpretation of KID.
And also, I was inspired by the Black Knight, Shiragami in canon, and AngelicSentinel's fantastic fic, Heart of Eternity. I guess you could describe it as more theatrely, cool and princely. He's still very athletic (laughing at Shinichi being Tarzan as Shiragami)
Unlike Kaito, Shin's notices often involve cryptic riddles. It satisfies Shinichi's puzzle loving side and adds to his mysterious reputation.
It's funny to me how Akako's 'Demon of Light' moniker is still accurate haha
Shinichi investigates a little in the shadows and is overall a touch more hot-headed than Kaito KID
He uses a lot more gadgets to cover for his lesser magic skills. He's still learning though! A lot of them are references to Conan's and KID's in canon. Between Jii and Agasa, he gets a lot of them haha. This includes:
Mask/monocle -> voice changer, mask to cover for poker face, zoom and night vision, tracker, microphone and radio, gas mask.
Transmitter/microphone -> button stickers, bugs in general, cufflinks. In some cases, a camera but it must be asked for first. Shin uses these to cover for Kaito's doves in canon.
Wristwatch -> Clock of course for his heist times, tranquilliser, emergency flashbomb (KID has one in canon too)
Shoes -> jet powered rollerskates (equivalent to skateboard). Of course, Shin still kicks things but it looks more to take down the occasional criminal, trigger emergency traps, and more. He doesn't kick often because it doesn't really suit the image of KID + it's a unique skill to have.
+ other usual KID gadgets -> smoke, flash, sleeping bombs, grapple gun, hang glider, etc.
~
Kaito:
He's still an aspiring magician
Since there's a rising amount of cases in Beika, Kaito gets recommended by Nakamori because of his magic skills. The idea is that his knowledge of magic tricks will help uncover the criminals' tricks... Well this includes basically all cases lol. It works though! And the news of Meitantei Kaito starts to spread.
Kaito falls in love with the dramatics and triumphs of figuring out a criminal's trick. He starts to get called into Beika every time a case is discovered. One different to Shin is that Kai gets called to the cases instead of the cases coming to him.
His detective persona is like KID's in canon - flirty, dramatic, confident, charming, a bit of a pervert, and a classic showman's personality. Aoko is sick of it hahaha.
Kai's deduction show is very dramatic. He uses flashy magic tricks to reveal evidence and tricks, and uses his magic to take down criminals.
This includes his acrobatics, trusty card gun and traps he set beforehand. I like to headcanon that Kaito invented his cardgun first before integrating into KID. Kaito's cardgun includes the normal sharp cards (Kaito uses it to pin down criminals with their clothes, cut ropes, etc), tranquilliser laced cards, smoke and flash bombs. And also sleeping bombs but he uses it vary sparingly because even that toes the law a little too much... Megure is exasperated but the criminals are taken down quickly without much harm so he lets it slide
Kaito also follows in the spirit of dubious investigation. He changes his voice, uses his doves to spy on others, uses disguises (very very rarely), and is noisy overall.
Kaito and Hakuba:
Has a detective rivalry with Hakuba.
Hakuba still thinks, even in this au, that Kaito is KID. After all, Shin's profile is very similar to Kaito's. Kaito vehemently denies it but acts like a KID fan around Hakuba to annoy him. He isn't really though, citing KID's magic to be third rate, but he is still intrigued.
Hakuba offhandedly slips in wording and insinuations to Kaito's huge annoyance. You can imagine them bickering at a crime scene while Megure is just Too Used to this.
Much later on, when Kaito learns Shinichi's identity, Kaito tells Shinichi's about Hakuba's warnings. So Kaito is kinda a messenger between the two. Despite Hakuba being annoying, Kaito knows he can trust him.
~ Other character interactions:
Shinichi and Kaito:
Shinichi is still a corpse magnet. So he encounters a case, calls the police, and escapes as fast as he can after giving a witness statement. This is partly to avoid the awkwardness of meeting Megure and the police officers (he hasn't met them since his father died), as well as his new night job.
This results in the most frustrating yet amusing situation where Shin and Kaito miss meeting each other for quite a few years. Shinichi is busy hurrying off while Kaito is called to the scene and busy listening to the details.
Quick sketch I may/may not fully finish in the future:
Description: Set in suburban Beika. Shinichi is at the foreground, looking at his watch and worrying about meeting Jii on time. Meanwhile, next to a police car, Megure merrily discusses case details to Kaito. Kaito is glancing over to Shinichi in curiosity while keeping an ear open. He has his hands in his pockets. Behind Megure, the scene has police tape barring entrance.
~
Kaito thinks KID is a third rate magician but can appreciate the dramatics and mysteriousness. He is Intrigued. This leads to a meeting later on. Kaito uses his connection to Nakamori.
Shinichi is of course startled by Kaito's namedrop.
... Sorry no more details/plan about their meeting. It's definitely a dramatic face off though.
Regarding Shinichi's identity reveal, I was playing around with the idea that Snake is there, threatening the two at gunpoint and sneering over the '"lovely family reunion between father and son". It would definitely spur Kaito to grill Shin for more details
~
Shinichi and Hattori:
Hattori hears about the "Meitantei of the East" and goes off to meet him and challenge him to a deduction battle. He doesn't know how to contact him, so he goes with the strat of wandering around Beika until he runs into a case. He figured that with the high rate of cases being reported, he's eventually run into Kuroba ,,, yeah hahahaha Thats his entire plan
Luckily for Hattori, his detective luck exponentially multiplies with Shin's and a scream runs out. As Shinichi is reporting the crime and tried to head off, Hattori slings an arm around his shoulders to stop him from sneaking off.
Hattori loudly greets him as Kuroba despite Shinichi's insistence that "No, I am NOT Kuroba, please get your arm off me". Insert much scepticism from Hattori.
Even after they part ways, this isn't the last they see of each other. Hattori keeps wandering around Beika while running into Shinichi. They eventually become friends huhu.
Shinichi and the Detective Boys:
The Detective Boys admire Kaito a lot. Obviously they've watched the news reports on TV. So when they see him at the park playing soccer, they glomp him HAHAH Poor Shinichi
At this point I think people mistaking Shinichi as Kaito can be a running gag. The Detective Boys keep annoying Shinichi and even attempt breaking into the 'Edo house' to see the ghosts... Shinichi is still not happy. And also, when they visit Haibara, they're basically next doors so Shinichi's never going to get them out of his life.
Despite the annoyance, he eventually becomes fond of them and takes on the big brother sort of role.
When Kaito and Shinichi get acquainted, they take the DB on outings a lot. The DB is very fond of Kaito-nii-san and Shinichi-nii-san.

Prompt: When you are sick || Gosho Boys
warnings!!! excessive fluff, characters are highschoolers, endearments, and there are grammatical errors ahead. Please read with a grain of salt.
Pairings: kudo shinichi, hakuba saguru, hattori heiji, kuroba kaito x gn!reader (separately)
The moment you stepped foot in Poirot for a coffee day out with him—which happens once in a blue moon—he could tell right away that you were not in the condition to go out today.
From your choice of shoes to your odd color combination of clothes and your pallid face, drained of color and making you appear almost ghostly, he noticed. Adding to his concern was the way you walked: a sluggish, unsteady gait, as if each step was a monumental effort.
When you sat down across from him, before you could even greet him, he beat you to it.
"Change of plans. Let's head to my place and watch a movie instead."
At the Kudo mansion, he had both of you surrounded by blankets. He made sure to make up for your coffee date by having this movie marathon. With a fever patch on your forehead, he made sure to keep you hydrated from time to time.
Although you weren't burning up too much, he was cautious and insisted you stay on the couch while he got what you needed. He would spare some time for tales of Sherlock and watch the movie in peace with you in his arms.
At some point, his mom visited. Learning that you were sick, Yukiko spoiled you with her cooking and scolded Shinichi for not realizing that you were sick sooner before your date.
You sweat-dropped as you watched Shinichi getting scolded in the kitchen, he then walked back towards you with a cup of tea and placed it on the table.
"Mom made that. She says it'll help you feel a bit relaxed," he said, sitting down next to you and watching you curl up with a smile.
"Your mom is the best."
He let out a soft hum in agreement. "She is. Now drink up," he said, subtly checking your temperature by tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, his fingertip brushing softly against your forehead.
He was glad you weren't burning up as much as before.
Guess who would ditch their flight to London and come back to you?
Hakuba Saguru. The man of time.
When he received your call—where you were intending to check if he had arrived safely at the airport and apologized for not being able to accompany him—he heard you sneeze and cough multiple times, and concluded you were sick.
Reassuring him that you only missed a couple of classes and would get back to it with no worries worried him. The content of the call was less about him and more about you.
After ending the call to take a nap, you woke up nearly eight in the evening. Realizing you had missed dinner, you heard the door of your bedroom suddenly open.
There he was, walking through the door and toward the bed, in his white button-up blouse with its sleeves rolled up to his elbow, holding a tray of porridge.
Blinking not twice but thrice, you thought you were hallucinating that he was here.
"You're awake," he smiled at you and placed the tray on the nightstand before sitting on the edge of the bed and reaching to touch your forehead. "Mhm, you're not burning up anymore," he said, to which your eyes went wide as saucers as the realization hit you.
"Saguru?!" He's supposed to be in London by now, solving a case! you thought to yourself.
"Yes, my love?" he replied smoothly before cupping your right cheek, as if ditching the case wasn't a big deal to him. "You're supposed to be in London, why—"
"What do you mean?" he quickly intervened. "I can catch my flight again once you're better. I can't leave knowing you're bedridden, sick, dying, with no one to take care of you," he exaggerated.
Your lips formed a small pout, insisting that you were perfectly capable on your own, but he dismissed it with a chuckle.
"I insist on staying," he said, leaving no room for argument.
With that, the room felt a little livelier with his presence, tending to your weak condition with hot porridge and whispers of sweet nothings, reassuring you.
"My love, no time is wasted when it comes to you."
This guy… would take care of you with little snide comments, "How are you going to catch me, Kid, in that condition now, hmm?" He cutely pops out a rose and places it in the vase on your nightstand.
He visited you after school and has been doing so for the past three days of your absence. He would hand over Aoko's notes to you, which he borrowed since he knew you would just complain about his handwriting if he gave you his.
But it isn't about the handwriting; it's the thought that counts.
"You've been making origami? How is that going to catch— Oh, I see, they're cute," he hummed, throwing a ball into the air as he leaned against a table.
"Do you still have medicine? Do you want me to run down to the pharmacy for you?"
This guy is always attentive when it comes to taking care of you, with a few flirty comments here and there, no doubt. But you wouldn't complain about his company at all.
He would often lift the mood by showing you his magic tricks and would boast, "I am better than Kid," although he's Kid himself.
"Seriously, Kaito, you're making a clown of yourself at this point."
"Hah? No way! I'm taking care of you with my special performance. You should be grateful!"
Just like Kaito, he would deliver his notes straight to you right after school. His notes. He's a detective; surely his handwriting isn't as bad as the thief's.
He would accompany you, making sure you weren't gloomed up in your room, and would take you outside to the balcony for a little sun.
He would swing his kendo sword, letting you watch some of his moves. On other days, he would cuddle up with you and watch a police detective documentary in your living room.
At night, his mom visited you with dinner-packed boxes. They were warmly wrapped and really healthy for a sick person. She was also skilled in kendo and would gossip about Heiji from when he used to train and share funny moments from his childhood.
One of those moments was when Heiji slipped on the wooden floorboard when he swung his sword too fast, and his body didn't follow.
Heiji's brow would twitch, and he would say, "They don't need to know about that, old hag."
After some time, when you felt a little better, he would promise to take you to the ramen shop he had invited you to before you got sick.
He knew Osaka like the back of his hand; he would take you anywhere, just name the place.

Kaito is Shinichi’s/Conan’s guardian angel
World in which every person has a Guardian Angel that can be just similar or have basically the same appearance with their human. Of course Guardians exist as independent “human” beings. Some Guardian families live on Earth in human disguise for generations and essentially blend in(one of this family’s is Kuroba)
In or after near death experience people can see their guardians, who eventually will lead them to afterlife/reincarnation after their death (so after BigShrink takes place Shinichi start seeing this „elusive figure in white” or white feathers appearing from nowhere)
In old times Guardian Angels had to record the life of their mortal with every decision they made and predispose them to make some decisions or actions that can help them live righteous life. In modern days Guardians main job is to record their in charge life with minimal intervention in it(with Sinichi’s “good luck” Kaito has to intervene a LOT)
So Kaito have to live a triple live of Kuroba Kaito|Kaito KID|Shinichi’s Guardian Angel.
…
Shinichi thoughts: If Guardian Angels really exist, then mine is probably the laziest of them all.
/At this moment, Kaito spends all his luck to ensure that the poison that was shoved down Shinichi's throat didn’t fully work, which is why he turned into a child, and didn’t die on the spot/: ...

in which Kuroba Kaito has heterochromia from birth. it is not a curse, nothing supernatural, just a rare and curious phenomenon. his right eye is a deep sparkling indigo, while his left is a bright doe hazelnut. his visibility is also reduced on the right indigo side.
standing out in elementary school for his strange-looking eyes, the bullying from his peers has him wearing full-time a single contact lens to hide the foreign blue eye. by the time Kaito reaches high school, only his mom and Aoko remember his actual appearance.
when Kaito dons the cape of Kaitou KID, he doesn't wear his usual colored lens. his monocle already serves as disguise, and he can see a little better at night time. moonlight doesn't hurt his sensitive eye like sunlight would.
Kuroba meets Kudo Shinichi in college. he respectfully avoids the great detective, who he clearly recognizes as the greatest rival of his Phantom Thief alter ego. however, as Lady Luck would have it, Kuroba and Kudo are forced into partnering up for a group project.
Kaito and Shinichi hit it off. the magician takes it in stride and is as charismatic as ever. the detective has a cold and off-putting aura towards strangers, but close friends know that he is caring and devoted to others. the two new besties' intellect is on par, and their banter never gets old.
of course, Shinichi observes and quickly notices Kaito's peculiar habit of wearing one contact lens. he unsurprisingly figures out why his friend covers his right eye, but voices his question out of curiosity. Kaito would raise an eyebrow in fondness to Shinichi's smug deduction, then confide his (second) biggest secret in an honest moment of intimacy.
one year after their acquaintance, the incident happens. on a night of full moon, Shinichi runs up to the rooftop of Haido City Hotel, in hot chase of KID. it is business as usual, the great Kaitou KID has stolen another big gem and is taking off the crime scene with ease, with only the resident Detective of the East able to catch up with him. however, the dance between detective and thief is cut short by the appearance of a hostile enemy.
Shinichi senses the danger before he hears the sound of the incoming gunshot, aiming for KID's right side. without hesitating, he throws himself onto the thief, pushing him behind cover. in the scuffle, KID's monocle is accidentally shoved off, a wide indigo eye is revealed staring at Shinichi in shock.
"my my, bold today, are we, meitantei? if you wanted to cuddle that bad, you'd only have to ask." KID tries to make light of the situation in an evident act of nervousness, poker face cracking.
"Kaito," Shinichi whispers in his neck, holding him tenderly and watchful of the enemy's position. "we're okay, i promise."
hearing the soft declaration, Kaito just about melts in Shinichi's arms. yes, they'll be okay.

This is less a question and more something I wanted your thoughts on. But I love how in DC , Conan is the main detective against Kaito Kid and the one he regularly interacts with.
But in Magic Kaito we already have Hakuba who usually doesn't get to interact with Kid too much because Kaito is literally trying to keep him away from heists, but does get to annoy the hell out of Kuroba constantly.
It's kinda worse is fanon due to shipping, coz Kudo x Kaito is always about Kaito Kid and heists while Hakuba x Kaito is usually about both Kid and Kurobara Kaito.
What do you think of them???
I used to think that Shinkai is Sagukai but spicier. Like, they're similar, but Kaishin has more moments and violent fights (bonus if you like the cousins part).
But it would be fun to interpret that the reason why Kaito is distant from Hakuba was because he hates being figured out too early. It's not fun if the detective already knows who he is before the heist starts. Once he was figured out, he couldn't continue the heist, so he tried to keep Hakuba away so that he could finish the job.
Meanwhile, Shinichi is taking his sweet time with the riddle and figuring out his tricks.
Or if you see it in an angsty angle, Hakuba is getting too close to figuring out his motives. Kaito's become KID is for his dad. He steals and lies for him. On their first meeting, Hakuba just casually asked him what it was all for. And now he's in his school. This makes Kaito uncomfortable because he's too close. So he prefer if they see each other less.
Maybe Shinichi is curious too, but he doesn't ask questions. And maybe that's why Kaito appreciates him more.
Shinichi chases him to the roofs where he could fly. Saguru walks him to a wall.
