haven't been in the fandom in a while so my memory is a bit fuzzy but the writers hate her sooooo bad it's not even funny. she started having a redemption arc where she realized the error of her ways and started working on herself as a person bc she wanted to be a hero and then did a 180° by siding with the villain. writer called her irredeemable multiple times on twitter despite the fact that she's just a spoiled bratty teenager who was also emotionally abused by her mother. her dad gets victimized despite the fact that he was complacent in the abuse and never tried to help her be a better person. overrall what the hell were you guys THINKING!!!

SHE HAD SO MUCH GOING FOR HER.... The writers tried giving her a redemption arc but then the creator of the show said that she, a TEENAGE GIRL, was incapable of change and redemption so all of that development was thrown in the trash and she became a shallow character again. Meanwhile, the creator gives a mini redemption arc to the MAIN VILLAIN, who literally ABUSED AND NEGLECTED HIS SON. She deserved so much better man

Typical Mean Girl character with an aborted redemption arc. Chloe has bullied the main protagonist Marinette Dupian-Cheng for a very long time. However, in Season 2 there was a beginning of a redemption arc that was wholly abandoned because the new showrunner deemed that a mean girl (who had an absentee/abusive mother and a limp noodle of a father) is evil incarnate and therefore can not be redeemed in good faith. The one good influence on Chloe's life abandoned her at the time of need and the fandom belittles and blames her for reverting back to her abusive ways when really she was left behind by the narrative. Even her own half-sister never gave her the time of day.

OH MY GOD. DUDE.Ok so she was a main (ish) villain within the first 1-3 seasons, but over time she was slowly getting a redemption arc, and we were getting more info about her past, and it turns out she was pretty heavily neglected as a kid (WHICH EXPLAINS WHY SHE WOULD ACT LIKE A BAD PERSON). And then, Thomas "dipshit" Astruc decided to THROW AWAY HER ENTIRE REDEMPTION ARC, AND WRITE HER OUT OF THE FUCKING SHOW!!!! AND THEY *REPLACED HER* WITH AN RANDOM NEW CHARACTER, EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS LITERALLY ONE OF THE MAIN HEROES???? And when confronted about why the fuck he would write that, Thomas said that she COULDN'T BE REDEEMED. Mind you, this is a TEENAGER, and a abused one at that! I'm sorry if this sounds like like a 2010's YouTube cartoon reviewer ass rant but oh my lord ,,,Chloe I could've saved you

i havent watched nor caught up in a while, but from what i remember: she started out as a typical 1-dimensional mean girl, but then they gave her a surprising amount of depth?? like she got to be queen bee, learn responsibility as a superhero, she even is one of only a couple characters we know of to actually fight off hawkmoth's power. they were going to really interesting places with her character, and we were all excited for her redemption arc.

...and then they made her a flat villain again, taking away all of her complexity and development, and instead gave the powers and depth to a new sister of hers that suddenly arrived out of nowhere instead. what

Alya Cesaire (Miraculous Ladybug)

"The amount of hatred Alya gets in the fandom is absolutely insane. There are over 800 fics tagged with ""Alya Cesaire Bashing"", and that's just the ones that actually TAG it - many of them either use a a non-canonical tag or just take their demonization of her as canon. It's not just that a lot of fics bash her either, but that the fics that bash her are disproportionately popular. If you go through the ""Miraculous Ladybug"" tag on AO3 and sort by kudos, I'd say around a third of the top 500 most popular fics use this gross caricature of her in order to justify inflicting some sort of insane punishment on her, or at least replacing her with ""better"" friends and leaving her to wail in despair.

Basically, Alya is the best friend of the main character, Marinette. She's really into superheroes and aims to be a reporter someday, to the point that the first time a supervillain cropped up in the series, she immediately got out her bike and cycled after him so that she could be there when a superhero showed up to fight him (Lois Lane would be proud). She runs a blog called the ""Ladyblog"" which reports on what the superheroes are doing, and sometimes makes some fun videos, like about the most impressive feats of one of the superheroes.

More relevantly though, she acts as Marinette's support a lot of the time, often being the one to push her to confess her feelings to Adrien, to help her with plans she comes up with, to talk things out with if she's having trouble processing something, and trying to act as the voice of reason if Marinette's gotten to into her own head. It can sometimes head into Black Best Friend territory of having her mostly stick around to support her bestie, but she DOES get a decent amount of screentime and focus at least.

Then the first episode of season 3 aired, and the fandom went BALLISTIC.

This character, Lila, debuted back at the end of season 1 as being this attention-seeking liar who pretended that she knew a lot more famous people than she actually did, including being best friends with Ladybug. Alya, being a naive 14-year-old, believed her and put Lila's interview on her blog. Since Marinette IS Ladybug, she knew this was not true, though she was initially more freaked out about the possibility that Adrien (the boy she has a crush on) would find her supposedly amazing life to be entrancing and that Lila would steal Adrien away from her, to the point that she actively wanted to stop Lila and Adrien from spending time together to prevent Adrien from falling for her.

Fast-forward to Chameleon, the first episode of season 3, and Lila's back and lying some more, this time about having Tinnitus (which would mean that she needs to sit at the front of class, next to Adrien). The class has a whole seating rearrangement in order to accommodate the move, and because some of them just wanted to change seats. Since Marinette was late that day, she didn't get to give input, so she wound up sitting alone at the back of the class, instead of next to Alya like she usually did. She's upset by this, but can't prove that Lila doesn't actually have the disability (she doesn't even have evidence that Lila doesn't have hearing problems, it's just that her story of how she supposedly got the disability is suspect), so she puts up with it for the class period.

Then lunch time rolls around and Marinette tells Alya and Alya's boyfriend, Nino, that Lila's a lying liar who lies. Alya asks why Marinette hates her so much, since she barely knows Lila (this isn't the first time that Marinette's nitpicked at Lila's stories, but she's never actually managed to prove that Lila's lying, Lila's good at coming up with explanations for any hole Marinette exposes in her tales). Marinette tells her how, after Lila first arrived at school, she followed her and Adrien, eavesdropped on them, and then saw Ladybug show up and tear into Lila for not knowing her. (Presumably that's what she says, the episode skipped past her actual recounting of what she saw). Alya and Nino are more concerned with the fact that she stalked Lila and Adrien, with Alya also being skeptical that what she heard might have been out-of-context, given how common out-of-context eavesdropping is in fiction for causing issues, with Alya saying, ""A good reporter always verifies her sources. Can you prove she doesn't actually know Ladybug?""

Since Marinette can't actually prove anything without revealing that she's Ladybug, she decides that the sane and reasonable thing to do is to throw a wadded up napkin at Lila while she's eating lunch, and when she catches it (Lila's pretending to have a sprained wrist), to loudly declare that she obviously doesn't have a sprained wrist. Lila quickly pretends that catching it did actually hurt, the classmates Lila was sitting with scold Marinette for hurting her, and then Marinette goes off to seethe in a bathroom, where Lila finds her and threatens to turn her friends against her if she continues trying to expose her lies.

Then at the end of the episode, Adrien goes to sit with Marinette at the back of the class to keep her company, the teacher thinks that Marinette ALSO has hearing issues so she's brought back to the front (and away from Adrien again), Lila pretends that her hearing has been fixed so she can sit at the back with Adrien, and Alya spots that Marinette looks miserable about sitting alone at the front, so she chooses to sit next to Marinette to keep her company and everyone ends up going back to their old places, except that Lila's sitting at the back of the class now.

And that's it. That is, for the most part, what kicked off the entire Alya hatred and demonization onslaught. While there ARE more things that happening in following episodes, they have a pretty small effect on the demonization Alya's put through, almost all of it is derived from Chameleon and hasn't changed much since then.

So for starters, in fanfics Alya is often made to ditch Marinette constantly to hang out with Lila instead. This never happens. She's often exasperated when Marinette starts talking about how Lila is awful and points out that she doesn't have proof of that, but she doesn't avoid Marinette, and the closest she ever comes to hanging out with Lila outside of class events is when she called Lila over to babysit hers and Nino's younger siblings when Marinette canceled at the last minute.

But most Alya-bashing fics don't just leave it there. Oh no. If you look through a bunch of the most popular Miraculous fics, you'll see Alya made out to be some sort of ringleader for the class in bullying Marinette, hitting her, pinching her, poisoning her, destroying her things, saying nasty, heinous things to her, the works, and inciting the rest of the class to do the same, sometimes to the point that even LILA is shocked at her cruelty. Usually in these cases, Chloe, who is canonically the class bully (and Marinette's bully in particular) is inexplicably Marinette's primary protector against the eeeeeevil Alya, becoming Marinette's best friend and support and basically taking on Alya's canon role and some of her personality traits, despite the fact that canonically, Chloe's as susceptible to Lila's lies as anyone else, and that in season 5 Chloe actually became Lila's partner in crime in trying to hurt Marinette in particular. (I don't like how Chloe's treated in canon, but that's a different story).

I've never even seen any justification given for why Alya's so frequently made to be outright violent or cruel towards Marinette, it's just widely accepted in fiction now, even with nothing pointing to her ever being malicious like that. There ARE other things Alya canonically does that I see her taken to task over though, but that fall apart when you examine them.

One of the biggest offenders is criticism towards Alya over how she handles babysitting. In Christmaster, Alya and Nino pick up Nino's little brother after Marinette babysits him for them while they're on a date, in Timetagger, Marinette's slated to babysit for them while they're on a date but cancels at the last minute, so they call Lila over instead, and then in Simple Man, Marinette books herself to babysit Alya's and Nino's younger siblings and the daughter of one's of her mom's friends, a little girl named Manon, all at the same time.

Alya receives heavy criticism for not paying Marinette for her babysitting, for having Marinette babysit for her secretly behind her parents' back without their knowledge, and for pressuring Marinette to babysit for her even though Marinette's so busy.

A few problems with this.

1. We see babysitting happen several times, sometimes with Alya helping Marinette with babysitting Manon and sometimes with Marinette just babysitting Manon without anyone else's involvement. At no point is payment brought up, and yet the absence of such a discussion is only ever used to demonize Alya.

2. There is no evidence that the babysitting Marinette does for Alya's sake is done behind her parents' back, the only thing pointing to that is a lack of Alya ever flat-out saying that she has her parents' permission to have Marinette babysit for her, but there's no evidence of sneaking around. MARINETTE, however, DOES canonically ditch her babysitting duties by having Alya babysit for her without the parent's knowledge. In Prime Queen, Marinette accidentally double books herself to do an interview as Ladybug at the same time that she's supposed to be babysitting Manon, so she calls Alya over to watch the interview with her, lies to her that she's just gonna go downstairs for a few minutes to talk with her parents and for Alya to please watch over Manon while she does that, and then leaves to do the interview while Alya watches over Manon the whole time. Nadja definitely didn't know that this happened, because she was surprised and worried when Alya and Manon called in during the interview with Marinette nowhere to be seen. In addition to this, in Simpleman, Marinette foists off all the children she's babysitting onto her grandpa against his will so that she can run off and help with Adrien's photoshoot after he calls her. The people demonizing Alya for supposedly having Marinette babysit for her secretly are not upset about the examples of Marinette canonically doing these things.

3. Of the three times that Marinette has, to date, been scheduled to babysit for Alya's sake (Christmaster, Timetagger, and Simpleman), for Christmaster she spent the next several hours after finishing with babysitting making Adrien's 50th birthday present (he's currently 14 years old), so I wouldn't say she was pressed for time, for Timetagger, she literally called Alya at the last minute to say she was too busy to babysit and Alya said it was no biggie and made other arrangements, and for Simpleman, Alya offered to cancel her date and take care of her younger siblings herself the instant she saw that Marinette was already babysitting Manon, and Marinette told her to go ahead and go on her date and that she'd look after her siblings.

So clearly, the people clutching their pearls about how horribly irresponsibly Alya is handling babysitting and how she's wronging Marinette in the process don't actually care about babysitting ethics here, because otherwise, Marinette would be getting the brunt of the hatred, not Alya. Despite this, I've seen a fair number of posts in the past tearing into Alya's babysitting for the reasons I already gave, and a bunch of fics that make it so that Alya pressures and guilt-trips Marinette into babysitting for her when she's struggling to keep up with all her work, only to have her parents find out and be horrified by how Alya's lied to them about who's been doing the babysitting and that Alya's been getting an increased allowance because of that, so they pay Marinette out of Alya's allowance and ground her, take away privileges, just have this be used as an excuse to punish Alya for supposedly wronging Marinette.

And then there's the subcategory of Alya demonization towards her for putting up Lila's interview on her blog without verifying that Lila was telling the truth. Admittedly, this was foolish, but she's 14. Retractions exist for a reason. And yet, fics frequently have her reputation be completely destroyed because she put up one interview that had a false statement by the interviewee in it, and sometimes even to be completely blacklisted from ever being a journalist in the future, things that are completely insane and would have even the most storied and well-respected of reporters be unable to ever get a job.

She also frequently gets demonized and bashed for ""believing Lila over Marinette"". My major issue with this: what she's specifically believing Lila over Marinette for is on the topic of ""is Lila an awful person"". I don't think it's unreasonable to have a higher standard of proof for believing that someone is an awful person than for believing that your friend might just have some biased interpretations. Alya thinks that Marinette doesn't like Lila mostly because Lila has hit on Adrien, Marinette's crush, before. This isn't unreasonable considering that Marinette's first reaction to Lila is to freak out about her stealing Adrien away, and that when this other girl, Kagami, started hanging out with Adrien, she freaked out about that too. Specifically, she called a meeting of all her female friends to try and stop Kagami and Adrien from going away together to London for the weekend in Backwarder, helped Chloe in trying to get Kagami covered in food at a fancy red carpet movie opening in order to drive her away and steal her seat next to Adrien for the movie, and when she and Kagami were paired up for a ""friend-making game"" where the goal was to locate where Adrien was in Paris and the prize was to spend time with him, she pretended to genuinely want to be Kagami's friend so she could sabotage both of them and prevent Kagami from spending time with Adrien. So it's not like the belief that Marinette might be unfairly biased against Lila because she's made moves on Adrien is an unfair assumption.

In addition to that, on the occasions when Lila HAS tried to frame Marinette for something, Alya hasn't believed it, or hasn't been shown to believe it at least. In Ladybug Lila tries to frame Marinette for cheating on a test, for stealing a necklace from her, and for knocking her down the stairs. Despite the evidence Lila planted, Alya doesn't believe it and investigates to try and find out what really happened. She doesn't uncover any solid proof, but she still believes in Marinette. She doesn't believe that Marinette's assumption that Lila's behind this is necessarily correct, since Marinette's leaping to that without presenting proof, but she doesn't believe that Marinette's the culprit either. And in the two following cases when Marinette's framed, Alya never actually gets a chance to say what she believes after the accusation is made against Marinette.

Just... the amount of demonization towards Alya TO THIS DAY, often for things she NEVER EVEN FREAKING DID, is absolutely insane. Even over 5 years since Chameleon aired, fics with Alya being made into this malicious, awful bully so that Marinette can get some new friends to publicly denounce her, get her arrested, or otherwise be punished are frequently on the front page of the most recently updated fics on AO3, and are often some of the most popular ones. If you go to ""Fandom-Specific plot"" on Tvtropes, saltfics like these have multiple files going through all the common salt tropes. When looking through fics, I frequently search for Alya's name because she's often the first person to be unfairly demonized, so if she's safe, then everyone likely is.

I suspect that racism plays a major factor in this. It doesn't make sense that Alya's often painted as being a violent, malicious bully and leader in getting the rest of the class to physically hurt and terrorize Marinette, I haven't even seen analysis arguing that she'd do that... but it tracks with the ""Black Brute"" archetype. This becomes even more obvious with Chloe, who's white and canonically DOES do some of this stuff, taking on Alya's canon role and some of her personality traits in these sorts of stories.

Then there's the standard Alya's held to for how she handles her blog. It's way higher than anyone would hold real-world reporters to, much less 14-year-olds. But it makes sense if you factor racial bias into account, and how Alya, being Black, is going to be held to a higher standard than anyone else, and be punished more for failing to meet that standard.

For things like the babysitting double standard, it makes no sense if you're actually looking at the stated criticism, given that the same criticism isn't leveled at Marinette... but it makes perfect sense if you're going off the assumption that Alya, as Marinette's Black Best Friend, is supposed to solely function as her support and that she's simply fulfilling her duties by always being there for her when needed, including for babysitting, but that if Marinette ever attempts to repay in kind, then Alya's being unfair towards her because Alya's obligated to always support Marinette, but that relationship is supposed to be a one-way street. Alya is supposed to function as Marinette's support, never the other way around.

And as for the way Alya's demonized for asking for evidence before believing that Lila's lying, well... again, Alya's expected to act as Marinette's support, and her ""failing"" that in any way, even if it makes sense from her point of view, is viewed as a betrayal. She's supposed to be loyal to Marinette, and only to Marinette, not to think for herself or to have multiple other friends or values that she needs to weigh. And anything that she does to go against that ""justifies"" Marinette intentionally trying to hurt and punish her for failing to live up to her role.

In conclusion, the way Alya's treated by the salt side of the fandom is grossly unfair, often has little connection with anything she canonically did, and has some gross racist implications, and is likely at least partially spurred on by racism, especially with how common and popular it still is to this day."

"(Note: This is an addendum to my earlier essay about the fandom's mistreatment of Alya. Here, I'm focusing more on how the writers' treatment of her helped to exacerbate that, since I saw that this version of the tournament had more of a focus on that. Please add this on at the end of my previous essay).

While Alya is primarily screwed over by the fanbase, there are some aspects of the writing that exacerbate her ill treatment. In season 4, Marinette confesses her secret identity to Alya, letting her know that she is Ladybug. Despite now knowing why Marinette was so convinced that Lila wasn't friends with Ladybug, and that Lila's interview stating that she's best friends with Ladybug is a lie, the subject just... never comes up, even when Lila starts being important again. It's not that Alya's ignoring what Lila lying on those subjects means, it's more like the writers just completely forgot that Lila told those particular lies, since Marinette doesn't bring them up either. This creates an inconsistency with the fanbase, who really, really, REALLY haven't forgotten those lies.

There ARE ways to explain this - Lila lying about being friends with Ladybug in order to try to boost her reputation, especially when she's the new girl, isn't really all that heinous. Marinette lies a lot as well, even if you don't count lies told to protect her secret identity or other ""necessary"" lies, sometimes out of embarrassment, sometimes to to try and prevent someone's feelings from getting hurt, and sometimes because she thinks it's the fastest, easiest, or most certain way to get the outcome she wants. And yet, even though Marinette lies a lot, she's not ostracized for that since it's usually not for malicious reasons - foolish reasons at times, but rarely malicious. It would make sense that Lila too, wouldn't be thought too badly of for merely lying in an attempt to make friends.

None of that actually comes up though. Alya later, in Confrontation, states that, ""Marinette, you know we'll always believe you. But every time you've accused Lila, there's been no evidence. And at worst, it was just a misunderstanding."" Marinette doesn't say anything about the previous times Lila has been proven to lie, so it seems like either it was decided offscreen that the more understandable lies she's told don't matter, or that the writers just plain forgot about them.

There were other opportunities created by Alya knowing Marinette's identity that were ignored. Alya concludes that Adrien backing up Marinette's statement that Lila's bad news was just due to him wanting to defend his girlfriend. This is also a bit of a writing flaw, while wanting to back up his girlfriend's stance IS a decent reason for Adrien to be biased against Lila, this is Adrien we're talking about here. He's nice and understanding to a fault, and is known for giving people the benefit of the doubt and second chances. It makes far less sense to believe that he'd believe the worst of Lila, even if Marinette does, than it does for Marinette to be biased against Lila. That being said, Adrien wouldn't have been present for Lila's more indisputable threats and statements directed against Marinette, so he can't actually verify for sure whether or not there could've been some misunderstanding.

There WAS, however, someone who was always with Marinette, and who could actually back up Marinette's statements more definitively.

Tikki. She was present for every threat Lila made, for everything she ever claimed. While it's possible that both Tikki and Marinette may have misunderstood Lila in the same way, it's far less likely, especially since Tikki would have had different biases from Marinette. Tikki could be an important witness. Yet that never comes up, is never proposed, because that would end the plotline too quickly.

Alya was also screwed over in the immediate aftermath of Lila being exposed, though not by the writers per se? There was a short scene planned after Lila's exposed where Alya apologizes for not believing Marinette about Lila being a liar and generally an awful person, we've even got leaked footage of it, but it appears that it was cut somewhere between being written and voice acted, and the episode being aired.

All of this only really affects detailed arguments about how well (or poorly) Alya's story arc with Lila was handled, its affect on the actual fanfiction produced about Chameleon salt was minimal, I saw no change in its frequency, severity, or general handling of the characters with any season after season 3. I highly doubt that even the changes I suggested here would have done much to persuade the saltdom against Ron the Death Eatering Alya, especially since a lot of the hatred against her has so little to do with the show.

There IS some hatred thrown at Alya for non-Lila related reasons - well, reasons that aren't DIRECTLY Lila related, most of that hatred still stems from people hating her for Chameleon stuff and then retroactively justifying it by looking back at other things she did that irked them. The most common one (that actually has some sort of argument to it, not the ""Alya's a horrible babysitter and is abusing her friendship with Marinette"" nonsense I listed in the main essay) is that Alya's pushy about getting Marinette together with Adrien.

This is more a product of Alya's usual role in the story than anything. I mentioned in the main essay how Alya sometimes falls into ""Black Best Friend"" territory, and this is one of the biggest examples. One of her most common roles throughout the series is as the person who pushes Marinette to actually confess to Adrien, to hang out with him, to pursue her romantic desires even with her anxiety holding her back, and to be honest with herself during the times when she's trying to deny her feelings for him. She's Marinette's sounding board whenever she's having an anxiety spiral about... actually, just about anything, and acts as the voice of reason when Marinette gets in her own head too much.

Thus, Alya sets Marinette and Adrien to end up somewhere alone together, or tries to push her to talk to him, or to be honest during the times when she tries to ""move on"" from Adrien by denying that she still has feelings for him (which is blatantly untrue). She IS okay with Marinette dating someone else though, if she honestly seems to want to do that. She had no problem with her dating Luka, for instance. She DID protest Marinette's seemingly sudden interest in Chat Noir, but that was mostly because Marinette seemed to be grabbing at her new attraction as an attempt to run away from her feelings for Adrien, something that Tikki ALSO noted.

That's another thing - Alya's the character who's most frequently thrown into this role, but she's not the only one, nor even the most extreme one. A new character that was introduced for the Miraculous New York Special, Jess, observed how Adrien and Marinette acted around each other, and decided to try to get them to confess their love by faking a supervillain attack on them, with the supervillain kidnapping anyone that no one loves in order to compel Marinette to FINALLY confess to Adrien. (Alya thought it was stupid, but agreed to help since it might actually work). When Marinette, Adrien, Luka, and Kagami went out to the wax museum together, Luka intentionally locked Adrien and Marinette in a room together so that Marinette would stop running away and would be forced to talk to Adrien. Marinette is written in such a way that other characters are compelled to meddle in her lovelife, because otherwise she'll continue making her own extreme plans and pining away, but never actually confess her feelings.

So while Alya could be said to be ""pushy"" to an extent, it's mostly for Marinette's benefit. I would like if this was a less frequent role for Alya - I think it does her a disservice, since it locks her firmly into Marinette's orbit rather than emphasizing who Alya is as her own character. Most of the hatred towards Alya for this is tied up in ""Die For Our Ship"" being directed at Adrien though, with Adrien bashers hating that Alya's trying to set Marinette up with what they see as an inferior option. Ironically enough, while Alya's role in this situation is one of the primary examples in the show of her being treated by the writers as a ""Black Best Friend"" who exists to serve Marinette's character, it's actually one of the cases where I think racism is a pretty minor part of the hatred by the fanbase over it, since I think that's mostly motivated by hatred towards the Lovesquare.

In conclusion (again), there is an issue with the writers bending Alya's character in order to tell a particular story, particularly a Marinette-centered story, while ignoring how little sense that makes with what happened earlier on in the plotline, or how it centralizes Alya's role and character around Marinette in ways that exacerbate already existing writing patterns in media.

Part 3: Orb Boy starts learnin' The Angry on how to vampire better

The first battle against the goblins commences not long after they pick up two females. A gith and a half elf. Both seem very fun and very angry at each other.

They do surprisingly well, though astarion gets fairly badly hurt.

He watches while gale and this blade of frontiers fellow and how well they work off the others fighting style. Same with the religeous and military types that have been bickering the whole fight despite the fact that they practically danced together. its actually quite fascinating to see in action, despite the frustration of being basically ignored while hes bleeding out.

He fails to dodge when The Blade lobbs something at him. He readies a nasty lityle retort about how whatever he tried to do didnt manage to kill him... when he realized hed been healed. Almost entirely.

The....the bloody -hero- just ...-helped- him.

What a fucking idiot.

Astarion hangs back when everyone heads to camp to fuck with the blacksmith, who seems actually very nice. Its a bit off putting in a way that a quick cuppa with Auntie Ethel cures with ease, and decides to actually pay her that visit sometime.

Astarion returns from the grove with some things he plans to squirrel away. He would deny it if asked, but he directly avoided stealing anything from the hellspawn. Not out of pity of course. Definitely not. The druids were massive pricks anyways.

He finds gale resting atop the boulder pile in the center of camp, splayed out shirtless and laying in the sun.

Fuck thats right. Hed been so worried about everything, he hasnt even taken the time to enjoy the fucking sun.

Gale hears him approaching, twists to one side and utterly beams down at him. Hes cleaned up really well.

The sun, astarion notices, shines almost red through his hair.

"Youre back! Excelent!" He lifts himself into a one handed flip off the rock with the practiced ease and casual nature of a man who has no idea hes showing off and lands a few feet from him. He looks a little toasted, but it makes him look all the more lovely- LIVELY. Lively is what he was thinking.

Tch... bloody prick with his crazy acrobatics and dumb fuck beard.

and his stupid perfectly waxed moustache, and rediculous tattoos down one side of his torso and...straight past the beltline of his breeches...

His mouth felt so dry all of a sudden.

"Must say i havent had such an easy time getting warm in quite a while. The rock behind your tent is the nicest but i dont much think youd appreciate me looming about your tent, aye?"

(should gale say "aye" in this au? Should look into waterdavian/dnd pirate slang if thats even an elaborated thing. I like it. I need an excuse)

Astarion and he talk about how it felt stepping into the sun for the first time in forever.

Astarion had woken up in the pod and promtly begun panicking until he realized there were holes in the transparent chitain, and the sunlight was beaming through. He lifted a hand to it and felt such a rush that hed managed to break himself out and spent some time just ....being excited about something. Anything at all.

Gale finds he rather likes that mental image. This surly little wildcat grinning up at the sun and raising both hands up while he laughs for the wonder of it.

Perhaps then falling back and flipping off the very sky...it seems like something he might do.

Gale simply woke up on the beach and lay there a while to process and plan, nothing too interesting.

So Gale mentions that sometimes, back home, he would stay up late certain mornings to watch Artor step out into the Sun.

Its a morning ritual to keep himself sharp and humble. He would stare out until the sun peaked over the horizon, cast a sphere of invulnerability and watch from the safety of it.

(Note: this doesnt actually work in canon, but gale either wouldnt know that or would have been forced to forget whenever he relearns that fact. Plot thickening joose)

"He wont admit it but im almost entirely sure he used to collect his own ashes, before he learned the spell. that was a long time past, though, far before either of us were a glint in our mothers eye."

"Collected them? What for?"

"He probably wanted to see if it was useful in some way. Mummy dust can be a Powerful addative to healing salves and potions of disguise."

He holds up a finger.

"Though never vice versa, mind.- Stands to reason vampire ashes might be valuable. He still has a small warehouse full of the stuff.

"Round oh id say ..nearly seven maybe eight thousand clay urns, in all. he tells everyone they were a group of spawn hed collected in his earliest centuries.

"But Im fairly certain he says that to keep us on our toes. I cant imagine how he would have managed such a massive hoard. I have fourty someodd siblings, and most of them are a bloody handfull."

"Seven thousand!?"

"The man is over a millenium old, astarion. Thats a lot of sunrises."

Things branch off to where Astarion says he cant turn into mist or summon wolves because hes a spawn, and he feels a little cheated that spawn have no substantial powers or abilities aside from basic teleportation. And even thats gone with the tadpole.

This distresses gale on his behalf.

"I...astarion i think cazador has been keeping you far more ignorant than you are aware of. Vampire spawn have a veritable littany of skills and abilities to hone on, it just takes time and practice like any other."

"What do you mean?" And gale vanishes in a puff of smoke turning into mist and back with his arms out in a gesture of "see?"

"What in the hells?"

"I cant summon wolves per se. But with ...well proper feeding, theres a great deal we can do. We arent helpless. Were just

"Slaves"

"I would more readdily compare us to marrionettes. Poppets, worker drones and the like. but yes. Essentially."

"Well.." astarion huffs, " what can we do?"

Gales smile grows boyish and enthusiastic, and he grabs astarions hand- pulls him towards the water. " Do you see that cave over yonder, just past the canoe?"

"I see it." Astsrion yanks his hand free with a disgusted little sneer.

"Alright. I want you to picture yourself in total darkness. The furthest reaches of the light are several turns out, and none can reach you.

"This had better be going somewhere."

"Just do it, trust me."

"....Very well."

"Alright now...connect to that darkness. Feel where your body ends and the shadows begin. Feel their coils reach out and embrace your limbs, your lungs, your mind." He presses a palm near the center of his back "draw them in with your breath. anchor yourself with them until you sink deep....deep into the dark...."

He feels those shoulders relax just a little.

"Now...tell me ...whats inside that cave, astarion?"

"....how should i kn-....oh...."

Hes suddenly there, as if one foot of his essence has stepped from where his body stood into the dank cavern.

"theres. Hmmm well theres an astonishing lack of dirt...it smells ...gods just -awful-...but its soft....and...warm." he gets an almost whistful quality to his voice.

"so wonderfully warm..." he draws another breath, as if he could consume that warmth. he hears a chittering at his ear, and suddenly realizes.

"Bats....there must be dozens of them." Gale is surprised by how bright that smile is. It warms him to see.

"now...call them."

"How do i do that?"

"I cant tell you that, you have to figure it out."

There was a physical whomph of sensation within him as his own irritation broke his focus.

"Tch well thats not very generous of you."

"I cant teach you to walk astarion, i can only offer you my hand."

Astarions pout deepens and he opens his mouth to speak, but gale continues.

"If you still need help in say...give it three days. Why mess with a cliche? If you havent summoned those bats by then-

"What makes you think we will still be here in three days?"

Gale thinks of all the goblins they've fpund dead around here. The goblins theyve killed. there will be way more further out. Way more than they could realistically fell in a few days.

"Just a hunch."

Ngl, most of my fav fics that I've written are the ones that I haven't published yet. But I'll go with the current WIPs posted on ao3 :)

House of Memories (dpxdc, Dick/Danny)

This fic comes to my mind first. I think one of the reasons why I have a soft spot for this one, in particular, is because this is the first fic that I felt I truly succeeded in writing angst. My first MCD fic as well. And I remember I've always wanted to write AU Soulmates for so long and this was the result. Plus I love Dick and wanted to give him more attention. Bonus is that I haven't seen many dpxdc fics where it is set to Dick is Robin.

Legacy (dpxdc, Danny & Jason. Biodad!Jason)

I love Jason. And I also love the thought of exploring Father-Son relationship between Jason and Danny (I'm used to reading deaged Danny, but there's something cathartic writing when it's Danny as a teenager while Jason, in his mid30s, exasperated at his son. That's the dynamic I want to explore) No joke that I immensely enjoy writing about Jason feeling guilty of not being there for Danny (and not knowing he existed). Last I checked, the draft for the next chapter of Legacy is around 4k words (I just havent gotten around editing it). Plus it's set where Jason is Batman, a trope that is not much explored in the dpxdc.

Two of a Kind (dpxdc, Jason & Danny, Halfa!Jason)

I will always be grateful to Kaida for bringing this idea to life of Jason being the second Halfa. I love the idea of Danny having a trusted adult he can come to this time. There's so many I want to gush about this, especially Jason's complicated issues with Vlad. You'll find Jason in this fic interesting because he has different priorities while feeling guilty at the same time. Plus we get some flashbacks (*nods to Red Hood: Lost Days*). Plus I also ADORE where this fic is set to Post-Infinite Crisis.

Dynasty | Loving You Was Like Dancing without Music (ATLA, Sokka/Zukko)

I remember the intense research I did for this fic. I have a separate word doc of writing the history and Fire Nation "legal documents". Even got 3 docs of flashbacks for Sokha, Mai, and Zuko (overall wc: 5k). And the fic is inspired from my fav kdrama show at all times so that's one of the reasons why I enjoy writing this fic.

Danny the Intern (dpxdc, GEN)

Ngl, I debated back and forth with this one because I have mixed feelings about this fic nowadays, but I can never forget the intense planning and outline for this fic and the 2 months I spent writing the buffer chapters just so I could be ahead of this fic. Part of why I enjoy writing this fic is that it's a Case fic. A mystery going on that I'm excited to eventually reveal, which I've been keeping my mouth shut for 11 months now. Currently, ch 6-11 have an overall 13k words. If it goes according to plan, Danny the Intern fic will be updated either this halloween or next month (for the 1 yr anniversary of DtI)

so. have u heard of this game called omori. im about to spoil tthe hell out of it ok so it follows this teenager named Sunny. 4 years ago he pushed his sister down the stairs onto his broken violin and she accidentally died, whoops! so his boybestfriend basil helped him stage it as a suicide. ever since he's been a shut-in and escaping the real world via maladaptive daydreaming. he sleeps his days away and spends all his time in his dreamworld called Headspace where he plays a version of his 12 y/o self called Omori, and his friends are all still close and his sister is still alive. now he's about to move in 3 days and his bestie and neighbor kel drags him out of the house and the friend group is forced to reconcile, and sunny is forced to face and accept the truth of what happened instead of lying to himself that it didnt.

cool? ok now forget all of that THIS IS ABOUT BASIL. BASIL DESERVES THE WORLD. HE DOES NOTHING BUT SUFFER THE ENTIRE FUCKING GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the kick-off of the plot in headspace is that basil's gone missing, and the gang adventure around trying to find him while they all gradually forget who he is and why they're looking for him. in the real world plot he's been bullied relentlessly by aubrey, who used to be his best friend, and his other friends havent done anything to help. and then sunny shows his face again and basil cant face him, until basil's grandma dies and he has a suicidal meltdown that sunny steps in on and basil tries to kill him instead. "DONT LEAVE ME SUNNY, NOT AGAIN, EVERYONE KEEPS LEAVING ME STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT!!!!" basil lives in denial the same way sunny does, the difference is that basil is an anxious mess as opposed to depressed and dissociative. and basil doesnt get the same happy ending of acceptance that sunny does. there's a "neutral" ending, where you can do all the real world stuff, but instead of going to comfort basil at the end, sunny can go back to sleep and let basil kill himself. from there, either sunny can go to bed and move away the next day or also kill himself. there's no good ending for basil, we dont know if he accepts the truth or if he continues to live in denial. the only other option is to kill himself. he does nothing but suffer and get discarded by his friends, he deserves so much fucking better. he's only 16.

Talk about a WIP? ohhhh the one im most excited abt rn is one where i explore my "clownpierce is a porcelain doll" hc :3 im going to explore several key moments in his life; his creation, the first time part of him was broken in a fight, the first time he went too far in punishing someone for breaking him, and then being forced to do something soft on the realm that he physically cannot do because of his jerky ball joints. and then, ofc, shit hitting the fan on the realm and him scaring absolutely everyone :3

Most people can’t say they remember being born, but Clownpierce does. Well, okay, it’s not a perfect recollection. But it is a recollection nonetheless. His earliest memory is hot. Blindingly hot. A heat he has never since felt. Something he would later learn to be the feeling of flames lapping at his surface, and the smell of something he would learn to be wood burning filling his nose. He remembers feeling soft, and as the time passed…not, anymore. And then the heat of the flames subsided, and then his Creator let him out. He often wonders if they regret it. He doesn’t remember a lot about his Creator. They taught him how to move and fixed him when he broke. They put a sword in his hand and told him to use it however he saw fit. It should come as no surprise, then, that he killed them.

Amy could tell Gina was up to something when she kept trying to give Amy a specific amount of drinks before they left and on uber ride to the party. She just kept refusing and was grateful when Rosa eventually intervened and got Gina to stop, joining in the pre-drinks with Gina. Amy wasn’t embarrassed to tell them her and Jake had made a bet but he hadn’t mentioned it so she didn’t want to either, it was their secret. She just hoped Jake hadn’t gotten started before the party otherwise the catch up was going to be rough.

For this year Terry and his friends had hired out an entire bar, apparently having thought of the idea after they spent three whole days cleaning the house after last year’s party. Amy could hear the music pumping from the venue before she could even see it, seeing a few girls walking towards the bar in short dresses and suddenly feeling underdressed.

Although, she took small comfort in the fact that Rosa had gone for a similar outfit template to her – dark jeans and a nice top. Gina had done her makeup which didn’t look much different to how Amy usually does it except a little darker around her eyes and a bolder lip colour, explaining that it was a special occasion and special occasions called for something extra. Amy’s hair had been styled in loose, voluminous curls, they bounced around when she moved her head and it made Amy feel glamorous.

[09:58pm, Sunday]

Four Eyes: @Pineapples Where are you guys? We’re almost there

Pineapples: we’ve secured a table in the back corner Pineapples: get here quick tho these people are vultures

Four Eyes: Be there ASAP!

Jake spotted Amy immediately from across the bar, even through all the people moving around he saw her. She looked as beautiful as ever and he hoped Charles didn’t hear the little sigh he let slip upon seeing her. He then quickly looked at Charles’ drink on the table before Amy noticed him staring at her.

The three girls arrived at the table looking put out at the journey from the door to the table through the sea of people but seemed pleased to finally be there nonetheless. Amy gave Jake a wide smile and it made him feel all warm inside despite the cool temperature outside.

“What’s the poison tonight?” Amy joked to Jake as slid into the circular booth next to him.

“Nothing yet, what do you want?” He asked back.

Amy’s eyebrows raised slightly in surprise at the question before she collected herself and answered him with a simple ‘surprise me’.

Jake nudged to Charles to get up and the two of them went up to the bar to get drinks for everyone. They came back with their hands full of drinks, Jake had settled on getting him and Amy a vodka-cranberry each. He hadn’t wanted to get a drink she wouldn’t like and it was way too early in the night yet for shots.

Thank you’s and your welcome’s were exchanged as Jake and Charles sat back down, once they were seated Gina then raised her glass in the air.

“Happy new year losers!”

A chorus of ‘happy new year’ responded while they all clinked their glasses together in celebration. They spent a while sitting down and chatting over the loud music, laughing at dumb jokes and taking the chance to fully relax. Every so often someone would go up to get a new drink and make the offer to the table, by the time 11:00pm rolled around Jake and Amy were three drinks in.

Amy felt like going up and dancing, any other situation and she probably would already be on the dance floor but she was sandwiched into the booth by Jake and Charles on one side, and Gina and Rosa on the other.

Rosa then got up to get another drink from the bar and offered to the table, of which Jake gladly accepted after pointing out Amy had finished her third drink. Jake didn’t let Amy hear what the next drink was going to be, opting to text Rosa the order instead and taking great joy in her eye roll.

Bi Besties

[11:05pm, Sunday]

El Baboso: 2 vodka cran El Baboso: 5 tequila shots

He handed her some cash to cover the cost and she was off through the bar, Gina following behind her to assist and get another drink for herself. Not long after Rosa and Gina left, Charles spotted Genevieve and all but ran away from them. Amy couldn’t blame him, and she wasn’t too mad about being left alone with Jake. She couldn’t help but nod along to the music while talking to Jake and was keen to down the next drink and have a dance, and Jake seemed to read her mind.

“Wanna dance after this drink?” He asked, leaning a little bit closer to her to ask.

“Definitely!” Amy responded with a smile, her heart thundering at Jake being close enough for her to smell his cologne.

A few minutes later Rosa and Gina returned with a tray of drinks, Amy’s eyes going wide at the line of shots.

“I did get one for Charles but he’s gone so who would care for a second?” Jake asked.

“Mine!” Gina yelled as she picked up two of the full shot glasses and placed them on the table in front of her, claiming her prize before anyone else did – although, there were no arguments from anyone else at her claim.

The four of them clinked the shot glasses together and downed them, Amy was able to hold back gagging but her face still screwed up in disgust.

“Sorry Ames, I had to do at least one shot” He laughed, and Amy joined in.

“That’s fine, it is your prize after all” She waved one hand in dismissal while the other picked up her drink to have a sip.

After the shots Gina had dragged Rosa to the dance floor so now it truly was just Jake and Amy left, and she couldn’t be happier. She loved all of her friends but anytime she got to spend time with Jake was a highlight of her day, and she wouldn’t rather ring in the new year with anyone else.

“C’mon, lets go dance!” Jake was already standing up and held out his hand for Amy to take.

She took some last quick sips of her drink before abandoning it, knowing she won’t be returning to it, then slid out of the booth and took Jake’s hand. He led them through groups of people to a clear spot on the dance floor, Amy stayed close and held his hand tight the whole time. She had expected him to let go once they had made it to the dance floor but he didn’t, instead holding their hands up in the air as an invitation for her to spin underneath. Once she had realised what his intentions were she spun, causing both of them to giggle. He still didn’t let go after that, and neither did Amy.

They continued to dance until suddenly there was an announcement over the speaker that it was nearing midnight, everyone had started to shuffle around and pile towards to the DJ booth to start the countdown. The screen behind the DJ booth then showed a large countdown clock – 30 second until midnight.

For the first time since getting up, Jake let go of Amy’s hand and her heart dropped slightly. But they both stood next to each other, sides pressing against one another as they looked at the big countdown clock. With 15 seconds left until midnight Amy grabbed Jake’s hand in a moment of confidence, happy he didn’t pull away.

Jake and Amy, along with the whole bar, counted down the final ten seconds until midnight. The place erupted in cheers as it hit midnight, cries of happy new year and confetti surrounded them. Couples littered across the bar were kissing, some a small peck and others taking the opportunity to start an intense make out session.

Amy looked at Jake as the clock struck, yelling out happy new year and wanting to be the one who kissed him but she couldn’t strike up the courage. She also didn’t want to kiss him for the first time in a crowded bar where her shoes stuck to the floor and they were surrounded by strangers.

So she compromised on giving him a hug, wrapping her arms around his neck and she could feel him hesitate for a moment before his arms made their way around her waist and pulled her against him tightly.

Amy could smell his cologne and shampoo, it was intoxicating and made her head spin for a moment as she indulged in taking a deep breath of him. Her back burned where his hands were placed, fingers splayed out and holding her against him.

Once the cheers started to die down and the music play loudly Amy pulled away, knowing she let the hug go one for too long but tucking away the knowledge that Jake didn’t pull away either. She slid her hands to his shoulders and pulled back to look at him directly, not realising how close their faces were until it was too late.

The two of them stood there for a few moments, the rest of the world melted away as Amy searched Jake’s face for... something. Jake was looking at her with an expression she couldn’t quite read, a look she hadn’t seen on him before. She thought she imagined it when she noticed Jake’s eyes flick down to look at her lips for just a moment.

“Happy new year, Jake” Her voice was laced with longing, speaking to be barely audible over all the background noise.

“Happy new year, Ames” He responded breathlessly, and Amy could only wonder as to why.

This time it was Jake who pulled back, stepping away from Amy and reducing all contact except for holding onto her hand once more and starting to dance. Amy easily followed along and fell in time with Jake and the music once more, acting as if their weirdly intimate moment hadn’t just happened.

Amy isn’t sure how long they spend dancing until her phone goes off, and she can tell it’s a group chat based on the face Jake makes at the same time she gets the notification.

Both Amy and Jake had quickly checked their messages at the same time and nodded in agreement pretty quickly at the suggestion of going home, as much fun as Amy had been having, she was getting tired. The alcohol making her head feel heavy and her legs getting tired from the dancing.

Jake kept a hold on Amy’s hand as they pushed their way out of the bar, people becoming a lot less kind and considerate now that they’d had a good amount of time to drink too much. But much to Amy’s disappointment he dropped it as soon as they reached the door, but even Amy couldn’t rationalise there was much need for it once on the street.

After a quick look both ways they spotted Rosa and Gina a few feet away from the bar entry. Rosa leaning against a building scrolling on her phone, and Gina was sat on the ground with her legs crossed and back leaning against the same building as Rosa.

“Jake! Amy! You’re coming with us?” Gina asked happily upon seeing the two of them approach.

“Of course Geen!” Jake responded, immediately matching her energy, “what are you doin’ down there?” He asked standing in front of her.

“Well I’d blame you for the shots you ordered but it was probably the round after that” There was a slight slur to her words and Amy had to hold back a giggle.

“Ah, makes sense” He held out a hand intending to help her up off the ground but instead she slapped it, giving him a high five that made Jake laugh.

Amy leaned on the building next to Rosa, tilting her head back against it and closing her eyes for a few moments. She took the time to breathe in the cool fresh air after having been in the stuffy bar for a few hours.

The uber arrives a few minutes later and the four of them pile in. Jake sat in the passenger seat while Amy was sandwiched between Rosa and Gina in the backseat, the car ride back was relatively quiet, Jake made conversation with the driver while Gina struggled to keep her eyes open while leaning her head against the window. Amy is quiet as she picks at her nails, too many thoughts of Jake swirling around in her head, a head that was not sober enough to deal with it all properly.

They reached campus and climbed out of the car back into the cold, which was now unwelcome after having sat in a warm car long enough to get accustomed to the temperature. Amy shivered as she climbed out and the four of them began the walk to their dorms.

“I’m gonna make sure Gina gets back safe” Rosa said before grabbing Gina by the shoulders and pointing her in the direction of her building.

“Okay, keep us updated. Goodnight guys” Jake calls out as Rosa and Gina walk off together.

“Goodnight!” Amy quickly called out after Jake.

Gina yells back a giggly goodbye while Rosa just raises a hand over her shoulder in their direction, barely sparing them another glance. Amy and Jake continue their walk together in comfortable silence, although Amy can’t help but feel an unexplainable tension has settled over them now.

Amy can’t help but think about their moment at midnight, she wanted to kiss him like everyone else around them, but Jake just wasn’t that kind of guy. If he wanted to be with her, he would’ve made it obvious by now. The more she mulls over the situation, the more upset it makes her; wanting to be with a man who doesn’t want her back, it’s positively heartbreaking.

It isn’t much longer before they reach the spot her and Jake have to split up to go to their respective buildings and Amy can’t decide whether she’s sad to say goodbye to him or relieved to no longer have to be around him.

“So, uh, did you have fun tonight?” Jake asked nervously, shoving his hands into his pockets and shifting back and forth on his feet.

“I did yeah, more fun than I expected. Thanks to you- and everyone else” Amy had to quickly add the last section, feeling embarrassed at her near slip up.

“That’s good, I’m glad. Well um, I gotta go-“ He pointed over his shoulder with a thumb in the direction of his building.

“Yeah of course, me too” Amy nervously tucked her hair behind her ears, needing something to do with her hands.

There was a beat of silence that stretched on almost slightly too long to be comfortable before Jake finally spoke.

“Goodnight Ames” he said quietly, voice laced with sincerity.

“Goodnight Jake” Amy returned easily, as if saying goodnight to Jake is something she’s been doing her whole life – as easy as breathing.

He gave her a small smile before turning around and walking away from her, leaving Amy standing on the path for a few moments just watching him walk away with his hands in his pockets. Finally, a shiver going through her body prompted her to quickly move towards her building, ready to climb under three blankets and defrost.

When she finally reached her dorm upon closing the door she let out a long sigh, trying to process how the night had gone. She moved around the room getting ready for bed, taking off her makeup and putting on her pyjamas and thinking about how late it was.

As she climbed into bed she thought about hugging Jake at midnight, how she had spent most of the evening holding his hand and how she would do anything to be near his warmth again. She practically falls against her pillow, lying on her side staring at her nightstand with her phone sitting there silently.

In a moment of weakness – and perhaps exhaustion – she opens her phone, the screen bright in her dark room. She navigates to her and Jake’s messages and reads through some of them, staring at the last few messages they exchanged before they had left for the night out.

Reading his messages from earlier in the day, he said Amy looks good just as she is – and Amy would blame the alcohol on the tears shed at these simple words, her heart aching.

Jake is frustrated beyond belief, he feels like an idiot, like a scared idiot. Too cowardly to even tell a girl he likes her. But it’s not just a girl, its Amy – she’s everything.

When he slams his dorm door shut he feels a bit guilty about how the noise echoes, knowing he woke at least a few people up with the force. He rubs his hands over his face and groans in frustration, before walking over to his bed and kicking the leg of it with enough force to make him curse at the pain shooting up through his toe.

The pain subsides after a few minutes but he still doesn’t feel any better, he’s angry at himself and angry at the world for everything. He’s angry that he’s just had a fun night out with his closest friends and now hates himself.

He doesn’t know what to do, other than angrily get ready for bed, leaving his clothes strewn on the floor for future-Jake to deal with. He doesn’t know how he can even manage seeing Amy again, but he knows he won’t survive without her.

Charlese: Post-NYE briefing??

G-Hive: just be ready!

Rosa: Oh no, I’m heartbroken

Charles: So they didn’t kiss, how do you know this for sure?

Rosa: Fiiiiine. I know they didn’t kiss because the four of us took an uber together back to campus and believe me, they were not acting like two people who had kissed each other

Charles: That’s a strong possibility, they’re my friends but I wouldn’t put it past them to make it awkward

it wont seem like it when this posts but ive been away for over a week and havent watched anything since then so im excited to get back to it

"the view from the summit" woooo

oh yeah this is the episode that starts with the quote, and i think the manga has it too? interesting, tbh this still feels a bit like furudate finding their footing in terms of how they wanna go about storytelling. i dont dislike putting the quote in at all, but the sentiment of it (that the six is stronger than the one and how a player feeling special is done for in volleyball) is shown really solidly throughout the series and in general i feel like the show is at its best when the narrative is speaking for itself, so i guess i just dont totally find the quote necessary

ooo i do like how it leads directly into kageyama's pov on his middle school moment tho. that does work pretty well

okay the fact that he literally has nightmares about it too waah

idk if we're supposed to interpret kageyama ignoring hinata while he talks about how pretty shimizu is and whether shes their manager as him being stressed about the upcoming match or just him not giving two shits about whether people are attractive or not (both of which have a fair amount of other evidence imo), and it's probably the former but i think its more fun if i imagine it's both lol

the running gag of tanaka's ear getting big whenever people talk about him ashakjs iirc one of his trivia things on the wiki is 'has really good hearing' or something lmaoo

i know im tsukishima & yamaguchi brained at all times and im super conscious about not over talking about them, but so many questions and curiosities about their dynamic at this point in the story. tsukki is trash talking and yamaguchi is like worried about it?? worried that tsukki wont make friends? or worried tsukki will get in trouble?? either way he seems surprised tsukki is doing it at all, so has he not been doing this often??? that seems odd to me too, especially when last episide yamaguchi was smirking when tsukki was talking down to kageyama. tbhhh its probably just the worried about getting in trouble thing? that (and again, furudate still finding footing about characterization) makes the most sense to me i guess

really interesting how in kageyama's flashback we see kindaichi yell and tell kageyama his tosses are reckless and whats the point if they cant even spike them, and then internally kageyama is like 'but we can't win if we can't get past their blockers.' his initial reaction is actually about the team and not about his teammates sucking at all, but then he starts to spiral thinking about losing, about not being able to play anymore, about this ending (screams in manga spoilers) and so what he actually says to kindaichi is the infamous 'move faster jump higher!' and obviously they all get offended by that. but the characterization is what's so cool to me there, his main issue here is his lack of communication—how differently would his teammates have reacted if he had just expressed the bit about not being able to get past them? and then much later in the series when he's feeling similarly trapped he does the same thing, he stops talking—except now hinata calls him out for being quiet, and they can right things again (iirc this is in seijoh 1), and i just. the attention to detail to characterization is so good!! the character threads are so consistent!!

aaaaand yeah here's hinata stating his facts. ive essentially made this post before but yeah 'hinata whose grateful for literally any toss plus kageyama terrified of his tosses being ignored equals narrative soulmates'

AAAAAAND tsukki is being a dick about it—but what he says here too says a lot about him as well. 'so straight forward and pure. how irritating' damn how was i not fascinated by these dynamics right off the bat lmao, he clocks hinata exactly and hinata's just done a positive thing, so why doesn't tsukki like it? i simply was too naive have enough faith in the show yet to think these threads would be followed up on lol

wow.. it’s kind of funny that harry and louis both describe their post band dynamic as one of “mutual respect”. it was used as a way to mock and harass louis (like every other time he’s had to deny larry), but ive never once seen the quote of harry saying the exact same thing - especially not used in a mocking way.

i guess louis’ was directly in reference to harry when asked about where their relationship was at now while harry’s was broader and could have been about any member, but if niall was the only member that harry could be seen to have any form of interaction with - the assumption is naturally going to be louis, whose name he has uttered twice (?) since the band ended. it could have also been about liam, but either way that would basically also extend to louis given liam & louis’ closeness post band. and according to liam in recent years, harry still kept in contact with him.

i also thought of louis talking about liam in that zach sang interview from 2019 and saying all of the members are “all good guys” and easy to be around before adding “…most of them” at the end. they jumped on that comment to make it about zayn, but it could also easily be interpreted as being about harry. (i didnt interpret this or harry’s mutual respect comment as being about zayn. the way harry talks about zayn in his howard stern and zane lowe interviews is about him as an individual and he doesn’t seem to consider him when talking about the band as a whole. louis’ references to zayn havent been that different until more recent years - more about zayn as an individual. not necessarily out of disrespect towards zayn, but i assume it was harder to look back on the band as five members with everything about the end being so fresh and zayn at the time being pretty clear on how he felt about being associated with 1d.)

it’s actually insane to me that people (OT5s and larries) ignore or misinterpret every instance like that to paint them all out to be best friends that are still very close and constantly in contact, when there is a clear shift in louis’ attitude towards harry from 2017 - where his body language is relaxed and he can easily say that he’s “very excited for him” and “very proud of him” (despite the way larries had been behaving 2015-then)… i think harry was made a gucci ambassador in 2017 and louis was still wearing gucci even into early 2019, but way more frequently in 2017 & 2018. (the zach sang interview was late 2019)

past then? all references to harry are in response to a direct question - and they’re polite, but incredibly distant. the way you would talk about a stranger. and certainly not the way louis talks about someone he cares about and has regular contact with. in harry’s case - his sweet creature stutter and roman kemp interview, both in 2017, weren’t much different. when asked about 1d members supporting him at the dunkirk premiere, he was happy to talk about them until advised not to by someone offscreen. he seemed a little panicky if anything in the first two instances, but not cold or distant. very different than the later references to “someones” and the vague idea of former band members that were merely stepping stones (if not roadblocks) on the path to his success.

this got very long winded… sorry about that lmao. but i feel like all of this is so clear and im just. continuously baffled by the people on twitter i see even now saying “i know they’re all very close and in constant contact no i cant tell you how i know just trust me”. like… why? on the basis of what?? exactly? if louis didn’t care in 2017 that him showing kindness towards harry could be interpreted as “larry proof”, when larries were just as if not more directly unhinged, why would he care now? how many times can non larries excuse their lack of closeness as them being afraid of larries and larries excuse it as closeting? it’s so tiring

It’s obvious to you and me because we look at body language without any preconceptions.

In 2017, any normal person could see reciprocal cordial feeling between Louis and Harry, like you describe. They didn’t approach the topic with any sense of competition or wariness; it was as though the book of the future was still open.

Especially after Louis announced that he was judging for X Factor, the cordiality grew more distant. Louis still wore Gucci into 2020, I believe, but rarely. When Harry started wearing Adidas and Vans in 2022, Louis switched to Nike. You could see Louis mentally brace himself with any questions about Harry, like when he answered that Baby Yoda question on Sirius XM in 2019.

Larries/ OT5 will always gaslight fandom about potential friendships, but don’t trust other people’s words. Trust your own eyes.

✈️ AIRPLANE — have you traveled anywhere that helped you discover something about yourself and/or about the world?

Old Krow smiled. "Ah, travel questions? This one's easy." He leaned back in his seat. "I've been a few places, but Yukito — my husband, for those of you who don't know — and I have traveled to and from Japan a couple of times. He was originally from Tokyo's Hidden City, so he wanted to show me the place he grew up. We visited both up top and down below. So I'll share three things I've learned."

The older man held up his index finger. "1. Chopsticks are impossible." He shrugged. "I just accepted I'll never be good at using them. Yukito thinks it's funny that I'm always dropping food on me whenever I try, or that I'll skewer it when I get fed up, which apparently you're not supposed to do." He grumbled and crossed his arms. "Sometimes I could hear others around me muttering, 'Ganbatte, gaijin, ganbatte kudasai.'" *

Krow held up two fingers, smiling as he moved on. "2. Japan and Tokyo's Hidden City are beautiful. The atmosphere is not like NYC. It feels like most people try to do their part for the community. The culture there is nice. If we hadn't already decided that here was our home, we'd probably live there." He chuckled, resting his chin on his hand. "Traveling is exciting, of course. Going to see new places and things, having a fun time… that wasn't my life growing up. I'm free to do that now. But I think I'm always going to be called back to a rougher, dirtier, crime-infested city. Guess it feels more like home to me. New York, what a town, am I right?"

He held up three fingers. "3. The last thing I've learned is that handsome hare has a vice grip on my heart," he sighed with dreamy hearts in his eyes. "The first time we visited was before we were married. Let me tell you, it was pretty hard to not propose to Yukito while we were sitting under the moonlight sakura, which grow underground and glow pink and white. I didn't have anything prepared at the time, but if I had, I might have gone for it." He rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed. "I don't think he would have minded either way, but I later learned that hanami,** both above and below ground, is associated with hanging out with friends, family, or coworkers, as well as quiet reflection, more than it is romance. Guess it's good that I wasn't prepared."

Krow smiled shyly at the camera. "But I really wouldn't mind going back again. I had fun."

"I've never had siblings, so I don't know what that says about me. Maybe that I'm protective and serious?" He shrugged. "I just want everyone to be safe. Guess I'm sort of like King in that way. I've found I have a lot in common with him that I didn't think I did."

"I don't mind being a big brother." He leaned in close to the camera and lowered his voice. "I've kind of always wanted to be." He jabbed a half-joking, threatening finger at the camera. "Don't tell the rest of the family though, okay? I'll never hear the end of it."

✍️ WRITING HAND — what is one thing you wish you were better at? this can be a tactical skill, social skill, hobby, etc

Both Krows answered at the same time over each other. "Covering up emotions," the younger said. "Having a better poker face," the older replied. They both turned to each other in surprise then laughed.

"You too?" Teen Krow asked.

"Well, we are the same person," Old Krow said.

The younger one nodded, looked to the camera, and explained with a wave of his hand. "We've— we've never been the best at hiding our emotions. Everyone calls us an open book, or wearing our heart on our sleeve. It causes us a lot of trouble."

"That's why we mask up when we fight," Old Krow said, grabbing his hockey mask on a nearby table and lowering it over his face. Teen Krow copied the older one and put on his own mask.

The glowing green eyes Old Krow's mask pierced the viewer. "Now you can't really see what we're thinking or feeling. At night, this look can be scary. Pretty sure I've made other grown men piss their pants," he joked.

"That's not that impressive. So have I," Teen Krow grumbled.

Old Krow chuckled and patted his younger counterpart's shoulder. "Of course, you're pretty scary too."

The hockey masks hid a lot of things. But even it couldn't hide the teen's beaming smile and shining eyes underneath.

AEW Dynamite 06/28/23 Review

Jon Moxley vs Tomhiro Ishii

2 great talent. Im interested in seeing if AEW will play ok the Chaos vs BCC storyline we saw start at New Japan Resurgence.

A solid opening to the episode. I wasnt anticipating the angle until after the end of the match, but seeing Eddie make a surprise entrance as an oppurtunity to attack Claudio. I assume in hopes Mox would be too busy with his natch to interfere.

After the commercial break it seems Eddie has calmed down only in that he's not actively approaching Claudio. Instead shoosing to stare at him fron across the ring.

Mox gets the win but its its obvios theres syill tension with him and Eddie Kingston.

Parking Lot Segment

This story between MJF and Adam Cole is going exactly where I think its gonna go.

MJF is going to try and and turn Adam Cole heel, and Cole will try the to the same to MJF conversly turning him Face.

BCC segment with Renee

This was pretty much for Eddie to explain why he went out during Mox's match. I would call it a little selfish for Eddie to expect mox to all of a sudden not want Mox to hang around Claudio.

I'm also happy to see El Hijo del Vikingo back on Dynamite, loved Forbidden Door, but I will say there was a distinct lack of Lucha.

Hungbucks Dark Order backstage segment

Oooo drama between the Dark Order and Hangman. It makes total sense for Dark Order to be upset with Hangman, especially since the bucks always seem to disappear every time Hangman is in trouble. I'm excited to see what happens with their match.

Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara backstage segment

I didn't have much to say about their match on Sunday. I noticed that they didn't really progress anything regarding Sammy and Jericho, and neither did this segment.

Dark Order vs The Elite

6 AEW originals so I'm very happy to see this match.

I really hope we see a healthy showing of the dark order recruitment specialist.

So I'm not expecting Dark Order to win, and neither am I expecting Hangman and The Bucks to stop tagging together anytime soon, so with that, it is possible Dark Order could be using this opportunity to return. To their roots as villains.

It feels like a possibility with how willing Uno is to attack Hangman while he's on the apron.

Hangman is finally ready to take his opposing team seriously, and he ends up being pinned for a Newark fall the fans were really into.

Just when I typed that John Silver reversed the Buckshot Lariat into his own pin attempt for the second closest near fall in the match.

Adam Page reluctantly pins for the win.

So, instead of giving us more Dark Order, the BCC decides to use this moment to attack the Elite. We do get something though as it seems Dark Order is choosing not to do anything for Hangman. Even Kongston is out here to fight off the BCC.

Looks like Forbidden Door wasn't the last we seen of Don either since him and his new son Konosuke Takeshita are out here to be apart of Jon's official challenge for BLOOD AND GUTS.

I'm excited for Blood and Guts forsure. I'm not sure if it's just going to be Eddie instead of Kenny on the side of the Elite, but if so there's definitely room to add another player for each team. Especially since it seems Don's whole character is to be an Antagonist for Kenny's story.

There's a lot of ways this story could go, and I'm glad there are a lot of different threads that connect to the drama each character has had so far in AEW.

Jungle Boy Jack Perry Promo

Now that he's a Heel Jack Perry wears sunglasses. I guess now that we have MJF to do the Tag Team storyline, and Christian is on Collision, we need someone to just go out there and talk shit for a whole segment.

Never mind, we're getting a youpeople promo.

After talking about Hook for a minute, Hook makes his entrance, and Perry hightales it out of the ring.

We cut to back stage where Jack Perry barely escapes in his get awar car

Sammy Guevara Sign Promo

He's cutting a promo on sting. I like how they are able to use this as a way to both; let Sammy cut a promo and get the Advertisements out the way.

Ruby Soho vs Alexia Nicole (Who didn't get a lower third)

This was supposed to be a match against Britt Baker, so I'm not expecting this to be a very competitive match. We'll probably see Ruby use this as more of an angle to call out Britt.

Ruby ends this match with Britts finisher, the Lockjaw. Pretty regular stuff. All capped off with the post match Spray paint.

Oh cool post match promo too.

Johnny TV Backstage Promo

I like John Hennigan and all his silly names. He fits more with the whole QTV gimmick more than Hobbs did. Rampage is also getting its own identity now, but it's felt like it's getting one for the past few months now, and I'm not sure if it is ever going to reach that point.

Main Event: Tornado Tag Team Match: Sting and Darby Allin vs Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara

I really hate that shitty flash movie that plays in the background of Sammy's entrance.

If i remember correctly, this is the 3rd time we saw the Painmaker character on Dynamite.

I like the tornado tag rules as a tv stipulation. Makes the match feel faster paced and chaotic.

Oh, geez. Sting jumped off the ladder onto Sammy, who was on 2 tables. I dont know if that was a great landing. It looks like sting may have landed his pelvis on the edge of one table and bumped his face on the second.

Sting somehow gets up and ends up in the walls of Jericho. Luckily, he was able to use the Painmakers own bat against him.

There's a lot of interesting depth to this story between Sting and Jericho, as we see Ating using all the moves he used back in the 90s and Jericho using the collection of moves he has gained in the years since. I feel there's a lot of possibility with this fued.

Closing thoughts

It feels like not much was developed in this episode aside from the MJF and Adam Cole story as well as Hangman and The Dark Order.

I'm excited to see Rampage and to see if they build anything else towards blood and guts this week.

Owen 23: How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)?

Owen by nature is not a very envious person, he grew up not having very much but was kind of resigned/accepting of this. But i think deep down he does become a bit resentful of those who have the things he wants (stable family, money, unconditional love and support), but he would never show those kinds of feelings to the person he envy was targeted at. Don't mistake that for him being a too good of a person though, he just doesn't want negative emotions to become between him and the people he's close to. He's selfish in that way, he would rather let sleeping dogs lie and not cause problems than potentially lose someone close to him over something so trivial as jealousy.

Annora 27: What causes them to feel dread?

Annora definetly has issues with control and therefore a lack of it. New environments terrify her, it's why she was so scared of going outside for so long, and her powers didn't make that lack of control any easier on her. I think to truly make her feel dread, it would be to put her in a situation with a bad outcome, that she could truly do nothing about. She tries to prepare for everything.

Abbi 26: What is their preferred mode of transportation?

she hasnt been exposed to very many as leaving the palace grounds hasn't really been on the table for her, but after some adventures her favourite way of getting around was on the backs of ... well i havent named the animal yet but its like if a wolf, a horse, and a dragon combined and became like a tamed beast. ill draw it one day i prommy LOL

Frith 5: How easy is it to earn their mistrust?

he doesn't really think for himself for a long time! he's loyal to the king, and the king tells him to do what Loreina says, and if Loreina says someone can't be trusted they cant, and if she says someone can be trusted they can. it takes a while for him to break out of this mindset... its not that he mistrusts people, just that he hasn't thought about it either way unless he's been told to.

Felix 12: How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?

This man is goofy and silly, he will spend ages stretching and contorting trying to reach the itch and once he realise he cant get it he will throw himself at the nearest person and put on a soap opera worthy performance in order to get them to reach it for him. they usually give in.

Maria 16: What makes their stomach turn?

big league gambling :) and generally mistreatment towards children. she has quite the protective streak.

Leona 35: How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?

she definetely pretends to be exasperated but always joins in on shenanigans. if its an interest her friends have, she'll act disinterested, but they always know better because she'll ask clarifying questions and bring up the thing later on to cheer them up or get them things related to it. but she DOESNT CARE!!! important you know that. definetely not. no way.

Loreina 14: What animal do they fear most?

She doesn't feel fear >:) animals fear her >:) ... not exactly an exaggeration but she does find the palace guard dogs pretty annoying. she doesnt like how mindlessly they follow orders, it freaks her out that an animal capable of ripping her throat out could be cowed so easily by the promise of a treat. nevermind that she basically has her own dog in the form of Frith :)

PreCure Wishlist 2025 :D

Saw @cure-rosie do this and it made me want to do something similar as well :D

also please assume every category will have a blanket "please have a deeper and more thought out story with stakes and challenges along with big happy moments." But this is a kids show made to sell toys and i need to keep that in mind.

THEME

I'm not to picky about themes tbh, these are the vehicle for the parts i actually care about. BUT, if i thought about it some id definitely fall into the IDOL THEME camp like most everyone else. (although i don't blame them for not doing it. you either half ass both themes, or spend more money than Toei is willing to get the IDOL parts right.) Idols would also probably be a music theme, but i wouldn't say no to something more orchestral themed as well. Video games i think would also be a really cool theme to do because it lends itself really well to new and boundary breaking things, as well as (i believe) be a really good vehicles for some important life lessons.

And for my crack choice: REFRACTIOM. thats right i said refraction. Bring back cure Prism! Make the fairy a shard of glass! every attack is just a handful of glitter! SEE THROUGH. COLOR SHIFTING. PLASTICS. whole year of just the most pretty gems and glitters!!!

COLORS

Yknow, another thing i don't find myself caring about that often. As long as the pink lead vibe is there im happy. And frankly Precure has always really excelled in this way. I mean they started off with black and white, and i never even once though of Summer as being anything but a pink cure. Sky was really the nail in the coffin. What i will say is i like when the abnormal main color is tied to the importance of the theme. Like theres no way you could have a "sky" themed season and not have the main be blue. and when you have a blue main theres no way youre not naming them Sky! it just fits so well.

but id like a blue (thats more sky or gelato and less a Fontaine, Ange, Diamond.) and if we get a yellow or orange id like them to be well done. cause i feel like theyve been good characters but poorly used laterly. other than those though i love color to much to care. pink, green,purple,white,fuckin rainbow according to toei, give me whatever :D

TEAM SIZE

First off i just gotta demand. DONT. PULL. ANOTHER.SATORU. All the pieces for him being a cure were there! it could have been amazing. i havent seen the movie yet but i doubt itll make up for it. I have really wanted them to do a strong duo again! we got 2 strong duos this season but its also been marketed as a 4team so it doesn't really feel like it. and before this it was Mahou and that didn't really care so it doesn't count either. i definetly want to have my cake and eat it to, so id want a strong 2team season but theres nothing like a good mid season cure reveal, but it needs to be really good and impactful. So i think they should reuse the sort of deal they had in Splash Star, but when you redeem they baddies make them actual cures with actual outfits and actual transformation sequence. Do it like episode 30 to 40 ish though, so we still get lots of time with our 4 cast.

Minions<Manager<Boss<Franchise Owner<Directors<CEO

I want at least that much hierarchical depth, with focus on the fact that franchise means multiple chains to be dealt with. you can still have room for strong story moments with villians we meet and get to know, but this way its more exciting and it won't feel like theres a total of 6 bad guys. Plus this is true to life and not something kids don't need to know about eventually. You can have the blue cure's mom be a CEO and while we learn about the dangers of capitalism from the bad guys, you can also teach kids about the importants of responsibility when you have an immense amount of power. like a CEO or a Legendary Warrior. thats Precure as fuck if you ask me.

MISC

I want the colors to mean something and be acknowledge by the cast, so that when they have a "Rainbow" or something different/more complex it actually means something

Please Please Please have these kids think about the fact that they have a magical device that lets them transform...like if that were me i would go to bed staring at my magical brooch for hours.

especially when they look like really beautiful jewerly and less like cheap plastic. so ya please don't do that. ill accept things being unreasonably girthy, because its easier for children to hold. but animate beauty and sell cheap plastic, at least.

OK LEMME JUST PREFACE BY SAYING i dunno what exactly constitutes a "comfort" thing for people. i don't exactly feel comfort while doing anything exactly unless that's it's exact intention; for most things i just like them LMAOO so im just going to give you my favorite things

my interests consist of mostly horror and folk not gonna lie......

UMMMM FOR MOVIESSS... my favorite since it came out is loving vincent. and probably will always be. i was SO EXCITED when it ran on tv and i was just so.. bewitched. each frame was lovingly painted by hand and it includes various paintings by van gogh. :) what you're seeing is entirely made with oil paint, using van goghs techniques, and it's just the most beautiful thing i've ever seen. other movies i love are: rusalochka (1968), bram stokers dracula (1992) & pulp fiction! and again anything with winona ryder I ADOOOOOOORE HER and if it has her in it i will probably give it a chance. except stranger things. nope. i'm sorry i seriously can't

my favorite books is honestly between the original frankenstein and the murders in the rue morgue. and i also started reading bram stokers dracula and i have to say i dont like the flow of the book As Much as i like the movie. i also enjoy anything by edgar allan poe a normal amount and i take a lot of inspo from his poems. i also super super gravitate to folk ballads/stories from which i also take inspiration for my art :) annnnnd i also like reading manga sometimes still and what i remember loving was innocent rouge, the red fog; and i also started goodnight punpun! which has been an experience so far

either way what i do for the most part these days is ummmm actually play video games and ive just been playing roblox day in day out for months now so there's that. big fan of phighting & regretevator (side-dish of pressure) and like thats the. only things ive been drawing as well because im insane. and i also play arknights still that's been my lifeblood for like a good 2 years now and i still play daily. other than that i LOVE visual novels and interactive stories in general and if you're looking for recommendations ANYTHING BY HARRIS POWELL-SMITH. FANTASIC. i think they only make their games text-based but i promise you so hard dont let that deter you and you will have a delicious experience. a date with death is GREAT, still waiting on touchstarved, and i also liked the obscura demo but full game is locked away in my country bleghjjjghhhh. AAAAAAAAAAND MY FAVORITES FOR LAST. anything by endysis. i will literally eat anything they do. i played it paints me, snow white ashes the demo, and im looking to play the last winter knight the demo as well AND OHHHHHGH MY GOD BY A LARGE MARGIN. Even though you’re rich and you can buy things that make you really happy you haven’t felt fulfilled. So you keep buying more and more in hopes it’ll satisfy that feeling, and it does for a little while but then that feeling fades again.

They care about you, they definitely have a hand in your life even though that seems to upset you but they don’t mean for it to be an insult, instead a testament to how much they care and look after you. I think they’re really sweet for not wanting to push you to do things their way, some Ancestors I’ve met before have been really stubborn and persistent so I think yours are really level headed and kind for this.

I also get the sense that they were business folks when they were on Earth too, in law firms, stock brokerages, and corporations, {whether that job went anywhere or not for them is unclear.} because of how well they worked around the business side of things to help you land deals, get promotions, and i also saw they helped you get your first big job interview.

She’s definitely passionate about this and I think her swearing is adorable, it made me laugh a lot during the channel 🩷

Although she was the most prominent Ancestor to come through, the others all agreed with her. It felt like when I asked for them to speak they all looked at her and she knew she got appointed with the job to speak for everyone.

I think she also might be the oldest of the group of Ancestors to come through but as I typed that they corrected me 🙈 There are older ones in the group, they appointed her because she has been around long enough to feel their frustration and hope for all of you to “get your act together and put on the best show of your lives” {their words} so they let her speak for all of them.

Plus they knew I’d enjoy her company and energy 😂🩷 They’re all so adorable. This is definitely my favorite pile for this reading because of her!

As for her message, I think it’s definitely something I relate to so I can understand the fear and holding yourself back to protect yourself but the cards and the Ancestors were very clear and adamant that you will not fail.

Something that might help is knowing that: your Ancestors and the Divine will not give you something amazing and push you to do it if it led to your humiliation or detriment when they know it’s something you’re genuinely terrified of.

I know it can be scary, I dealt with it when my spirit team told me to start doing readings online, I’ll prolly share my story later but it was really tough to push through that fear.

I recommend learning about and healing your solar plexus, heart, root, and crown centers {also inappropriately called Chakras} because that’ll help you open up to the possibility of entering the public eye and help nurture and solidify your perspective of yourself.

Okay I'm back! So the musicals I watched were Merrily, The Outsiders and the Notebook! They were all really good and had different things I loved about them. But unfortunately it was kinda out of order or took me a while to watch. The first one I started with was Merrily and my sister fell asleep like 20 minutes in so I turned it off since I always wanna watch with her. The next day I somehow found Outsiders and got really excited so I wanted to watch that..my sister got tired again lol. The next day during some downtime I told my sister to catch up on Merrily so we did and watched Act one. My sister gets tired again. The next day I found a Notebook one! We were drinking cuz I thought it might help her stay awake so I suggested going back to Outsiders cuz we were more familiar with that show and it matched the vibes somewhat. She mostly stayed up until the last 30 minutes which I ended up watching anyway. Then I suggested watching The Notebook cuz she napped earlier so it made sense to watch the longest one compared to finishing Merrily which we did. At this point we still havent finished all of Merrily but I thought I should reply to you by now lol. But I enjoyed them all but they were all different..it would be hard to rank. I'm pretty sure The Outsiders was my favorite but I'm also really familiar with the show at this point..like I've read parts of the script to figure out the differences between the book and movie before watching the show so I knew the dialogue. I will definitely send it to you whenever you're ready for it. So in a way that was a little distracting actually and because of that it felt like the show was going so fast and from song to song but that's cuz I knew it so well already. I felt that with the Notebook only a little, from knowing the plot, but it wasn't like I knew what exact song was coming when..there were some songs I couldn't remember lol. Unfortunately the quality was kinda bad but it got better in Act 2. The act two definitely seemed shorter and faster though..almost like am I missing something or we were already at a certain part so idk. Also it did switch timelines a few times and I guess that makes sense..otherwise they would only be in act 2, but still. I guess I wasn't giving it my full attention or something. Also I did not notice the change to the 1970s at all. I think I wasn't in the mood to watch it either..itbdidnt feel as emotional to me as it could have. Merrily was fun cuz I didn't know what to expect and went in pretty blind but I also got confused with the timeline a little bit. I do love the characters and some songs though and I liked it. I just didn't love it yet I think and I want to. Basically all of them might need a rewatch lol, Outsiders just cuz I like it haha. Idk what's wrong with me but I love them all. I also wanted to mention that Ryan Vasquez was actually a part of the Outsiders musical as the oldest brother before it went to Broadway but I guess he ended up choosing the Notebook but I think that would've been pretty interesting. I think he fits middle Noah very well though.

I can't believe you haven't watched Little shop before! My first introduction was the movie which I love. But I'm not sure what you would think about it. It's also another of those musicals where the age is pretty vague which you mentioned about Mattress lol. I actually put that in the ask that didn't get sent..having no idea you weren't familiar with the show lol. If you don't know the show, do you listen to the cast album first or usually just watch the bootleg? Just curious cuz I always try to find a bootleg first. But it made me wonder what it would be like to listen without context of the show. I would recommend the movie too though.

So I didn't have a chance to go to Wicked which is okay cuz I've already seen it. I'm not going to watch Joker 2 either but I did the Lady Gaga album. At this point idk what my next show is..but hoping for Hamilton. The new Warriors cast album came out too and i'm interested in that but I've never seen the movie. another thing I try to do is watch the movie a musical is based on to compare it as well. I'm not sure when I will get to it though..maybe by Halloween. I hope you have a good time at your shows..that's awesome. Im not sure if Im going to be able to see Back to the future yet. I listened to Brat and my favorites were the same as the ones you mentioned before even hearing it lol. what were your favorites? What else have you been listening to? I listened to The Last Dinner Party finally and Pale Waves this week. I also would recommend Orla Gartland's new album but I think I preferred the first album a little more. Omg well the first album i heard was Color Theory and the first song was Yellow is the Color of her eyes which I love a lot. But yes you can go in order but she also has some unreleased songs from unofficial albums I really love too. I think I'll just recommend a few from each album. Molly Ringwald, Henry, Switzerland, Try, Waiting For Cars, Scorpio Rising, Still Clean, Yellow is the color of her eyes, Circle the Drain, Shotgun, and Fire in the Driveway. Out of the new songs, my favorite is called M. I hope you like them if you do check it out. I will be listening to her and Halseys albums this next week. I think Halsey's vision and the impersonation theme is really cool so I'm also excited for it. I hope you have an awesome weekend!

i love merrily! i am so excited that we're getting a proshot. i hope you'll give it another go! i am unsurprised that you like the outsiders the most (said affectionately with love) and am really excited to get into it hopefully before the year is over. the notebook my beloved. it's definitely more simple/less ~ flashy ~ than the others, but i love it so much. the first time i saw it i wasn't super emotional about it but then i listened to the cast recording later and wept. and now it's one of my favorite shows (i know, shocker, tumblr user notebookmusical loves the notebook musical). and it definitely hits different in person! i hope you get to see it on tour 🤍

i was actually reading about ryan vasquez earlier because i was trying to find an answer to something (was unsuccessful) and found this — in response to "We hear you had a choice to work on a few Broadway shows, including The Notebook, and The Notebook won. Why was it the winner?", which i think is interesting:

Ryan Vasquez: Since beginning work on The Notebook in 2020, I have been consistently struck by the impact the piece has on people, especially men, who are struggling in alarming ways with regulating emotions and expressing vulnerability right now. The show is many things, but above all, it is profoundly moving. And not just because it's a love story, though the romance is moving in its way. It's a deeply human story about life and loss and love in all its forms, and I wanted to be a part of something that had that impact.

oh i should add little shop to my list of things to listen to this week! i just keep forgetting, honestly! i usually listen to things when i walk my dog or when i'm at work but then sometimes i get distracted/sucked into work or i just end up looping the same album for hours... oops! if i don't know a show well, and if there's a bootleg available, i'll usually just watch the bootleg if i can but lately i've been doing cast recording first, then bootleg if i'm still interested!

i am seeing wicked next month, and i've got my tickets for the wicked movie for the day after thanksgiving! so it will be a very wicked month haha. i haven't listened to warriors yet either; let me know if it's worth listening to! i listened to the new orla gartland!! one of my friends loves her, so it was fun — my favorites were sound of letting go, the hit, and everybody needs a hero. and i have jotted down your recs hehe!

very intrigued to hear your halsey/TGI thoughts! i got to listen to the album early and loved it so much. i think it's probably my second favorite halsey album (badlands is soooo special to me 🤍).
