To Date Itaru Chigasaki

A/N: I had to split the request in 2 posts!! due to formatting 🙇‍♀️ so sorry!!

- You two met at a gaming shop!

- You were looking for a gift for your best friend’s younger sister, as much as you liked games yourself- buying one for a 12 year old was another story.

- You were freaking out- you had been in the store for almost an hour searching and nothing would come up.

- You were afraid of not getting a gift at all- that is until you felt a tap from a man in a suit.

- “You look like you’re ten seconds away from crying,” Itaru looked at you, “Need some help?”

- He didn’t know why he’d helped you, you were kind of cute and, unlike with other things, he was a bit more open to helping others when it came to video games.

- “Please,” you turned around, “I need a game for a 12 year old but I just don’t know! I-I don’t want her to think I think she’s a child but she can’t play anything too… you know, grown up or else her parents will kick my ass.” You whine, maybe if things had gone better you’d be embarrassed but embarrassment is simply something you cannot feel right now, you’re against the clock and you’re tired.

- “Hmm, a 12 year old girl… thought about Puppy Crossing?”

- And that’s how you spent the next 30 minutes, discussing a game for the kid with a 20-something year old blue collar.

- By the end you had bought the gift plus a recommendation Itaru had given you based on your short, but surprisingly sweet, interaction.

- The second time you met was, again, at the store but this time it was for you instead of a kid. Thankfully.

- He was wearing another suit, you guessed he really was an office worker; what was he doing here though? What business would guy with such a high paying job, you assumed by his suit and clothes, have in such a small game store in the middle of a gaming street.

- You shrugged it off before returning to browsing, you really shouldn’t judge.

- After a few minutes he noticed you and approached you asking about the game he’d recommended for the girl last time. After gladly informing him about the success the gift had- both of you quickly began talking about the game he’d recommended you.

- After that you two began meeting up in the shop- not on purpose or anything, it just kind of happened.

- In most situations he might’ve been annoyed but for some reason he couldn’t really bring himself to be mad. He enjoyed being able to shamelessly talk about games, online and competitive, pay to win or free to play, with a cute person who didn’t judge him.

- It became a weekly occurrence and you really enjoyed it. Eventually he asked you out on a date, it’d be in an internet cafe near the store, and you said yes.

- You were looking forward to being able to know him better, not in a store or just as friends but maybe… as a possible s/o? You slap your cheeks at the thought, silly [Name], that wouldn’t happen... right?

- That is until he called in sick stating he had grown ill with the flu and you were worried, he sounded like he was in hell based on the phone call. He was coughing, his voice sounded muffled, he kept sneezing too, you were surprised he could even dial with how bad he sounded.

- When you tried to call him his number went straight to voicemail so you did what anyone would do;

- You called in to his home number (which he had given you when he gave you his business card, yes he gave you his business card instead of giving you his phone number like a normal person).

- “Hello, Izumi Tachibana speaking.” Your heart kind of stops when you hear a woman’s voice and you wonder if maybe you’d been a side piece, but thinking back to Itaru and how he acted with you - you doubted it.

- “Izumi? Ah, eh… is a Itaru Chigasaki there?”

- “Itaru? Yes, I can give him a message, who’s calling?”

- “Ah, tell him it’s [Name] from the store, I was just worried about him…”

- “[Name], huh? Wait, you mean you’re [Name] [Last Name]?”

- “Ehh… yes?”

- Turns out Itaru had told his roommate maybe wife maybe kid(?) about you?

- You didn’t know he had roommates, he looked well off so why couldn’t he afford a house? Maybe she was a girlfriend and they were in a open relationship? So many questions…

- You thought you wouldn’t really mind but it turns out your cheeks were now bright red when Izumi explained how Itaru had been talking about you often and promptly invited you to check up on Itaru, who was in fact ill. She also gave you a rundown of the situation, turns out he was part of some acting company and she was the director, so with a lighter heart you decided to take her up on going over to check on him.

- Big mistake.

- You were going to stop by after work, you decided, you’d also go and buy him some soup for his stomach just in case. You arrived at the house and welcomed inside by a smiling Tachibana and a strange bird before you were given a rundown of some rules.

- “Knock first, always knock first. If you hear anything between a grunt or a yes you’re in the clear, if you hear anything like a groan or a curse wait before knocking again. If you happen to hear something falling over or a scream I’ll text you when it’s safe for you to come over again. You seem like a nice person, so please don’t forget any of the rules! Now- go!”

- She quickly pushed you in front of the door and knocked for you before bolting behind the stairs, you received a quick thumbs up before she hid again.

- You were now alone in a dorm room looking for a grown man who had called in sick to a date with you, this wasn’t exactly how you thought your friday evening was going to go. You knock the door and put your ear next to the wood… no grunt, had Izumi explained what a no-grunt meant?

- You look at her general direction where she looks confused but encourages you to go in, so you shrug it off before turning the handle around - you end up falling over when the door is opened by the man of the hour himself.

- “Oi, Izumi- now that this match is over you can come in with the-! Ah… [Name], this is… embarrassing,” Itaru had turned around ready to scold Izumi when instead he came to see you.

- He looked like shit- he really did, not only because he was sick but because his room was a mess. You knew he liked gaming but this… this was too extreme, was this what they called a gap moe?

- “What the hell…?”

- He invites you in quickly- shoving chips and cans left and right before sitting you down on a couch.

- “What are you doing here- ACHOO!”

- You explained how worried you were about him- how he didn’t answer your calls and so you came to visit with soup (you felt the need to highlight the soup).

- He thanked you for the thought before looking around the room awkwardly remarking it’d be best you left- the flu was contagious after all.

- It was an awkward reaction, even for him- something Izumi doesn’t fail to note once you leave, unlike when anyone else would come in; Itaru couldn’t find it in himself to scold you or threaten you with an immediate and painful death.

- You leave the room quickly and wave goodbye- but not before he slips you a note with a bunch of numbers scribbled on.

- When you arrive home that night you finally realise what it said; it was his friend code.

- And that’s how your first date was on a island in ACNH he made for the date. And that’s how he asked you out too.

- Fucking nerd.

- You were crafting some furniture for your island (which he had happily helped you plan out) when he asks you out via chat.

- Your response? You used the shocked and glad reactions, the only valid reaction.

- Dating him includes video game dates; any server based game multiplayer is used to seeing you two doing some cringe couple shit.

- You will have to bathe him, he can go days without taking a bath so get ready to shove him in a tub.

- He’s not very good at being a boyfriend sometimes, he struggles in the emotional aspect. He’ll base himself a lot in dating sims, like it’s kind of cute but it can be scary if he uses the wrong dating sim.

- Will kabedon you for 2 reasons and 2 reasons only; one, he genuinely wants to know if it works like ??? does it really make people swoon is it really that cool ?? and two, it’s been a life long dream of his let him have this.

- Itaru can be both mature and kind of childish, you’ll have to stomach a lot of tantrums when you get in the way of gaming. But he’s also not a kid, he can be surprisingly mature when he wants to.

- He takes the relationship very seriously, most of the time; he genuinely likes you and he tries to leave gaming but he struggles.

- So, you decide to combine two things; you + games. You’ll go visit him often and play games together on his couch.

- He’s so fucking happy when you do that, it’s cute. He doesn’t mind you using his clothes but do not touch his yellow-tiger bomber jacket he only uses when gaming. Do not.

- Itaru will let you play with his hair while he plays games, he lets you use butterfly clips and shit too.

- Just don’t expect him to go out like that he’ll fucking riot.

- “Banri will freak out-“ “Omi bring the camera Itaru has fucking butterfly-clips on, Taichi film this shit- he’s wearing clips! And they’re buttefly ones, funniest shit I’ve seen!”

- Banri 100% teases the fuck out of him when it comes to you but Itaru will come back with some cheesy shit to make him uncomfortable.

- “It’s not my fault we two fell in love-“

- “I swear to fucking god if you go on another rant I’ll destroy you and your whole blood line with my pinky.”

- The dorm is kind of surprised how much more social Itaru can be with you- they’re so used to seeing him shut himself in with games, but now that you two are together he comes out more often to spend time with you.

- He can be kind of cold and emotionally distant but after awhile you learn that that’s just how Itaru works. He’s kind of aloof and awkward and he can come off as rude sometimes? He just be like that you know.

- That both the shut-in gamer and businessman are the same guy and that you… l*ve him for it.

- Play games with him please- just do it.

My Ai Yazawa Reccomendation List

This is a list that I’ve actually been thinking about for a while now (like... years lmao). Basically just a few of my personal recommendations of series (only manga and webtoons this time around but I have a couple tv shows and anime that I also might rec in a second list if people like this one...) that people like me that are missing Yazawa’s work might enjoy. The bulk of this list is for NANA, because that is her unfinished work, but I’ve got quite a few recs for her other series.

I don’t love all the series on this list (or even like tbh), but I can see where someone who likes a certain aspect of Yazawa’s work might enjoy the series more than me. I didn’t include trigger warnings because it’s been a number of years since I read some of these series (and some I never finished) but feel free to ask me and I’ll do my best.

Obligatory recommendation that if you enjoy any of Yazawa’s series, you should give any of her series a try. I think all of the series that I’ve read by her are masterpieces in their own right and if you’re missing NANA (or any of her other works) you should definitely read the rest of her work because many of my own favorite aspects of Yazawa’s works are present in all of her work - like female friendship and continuous story lines (rather than episodic).

Feel free to add on with your owns recs... And tell me if you read any of these series!

If you like the past/future mechanic of NANA with young adult characters and enjoy unveiling the mystery in Kagen no Tsuki then give Piece by Ashihara Hinako a try. The MC and her best friend have a good passing resemblance to Nana and Hachi, if Hachi were chubby but they have more than appearance in common with NANA’s leading ladies... To say any more would be spoilers! This series also marries some of the messy melodrama of RL with realism like NANA.

Summary: One day, Mizuho, a university student, receives news that her classmate in high school, Origuchi Haruka, passed away. Mizuho doesn't remember being best friends with Origuchi, but apparently, Origuchi told her mother that Mizuho was her best friend. And now, her mother wants Mizuho to help her find the boy Origuchi dated during high school. Mizuho told Origuchi's mother that Origuchi was a very plain girl, and she was never seen with a guy, but her mother told Mizuho that Origuchi got pregnant and had an abortion when she was in high school. Mizuho was shocked, but she still starts asking her other classmates in high school and following the traces Origuchi left behind.

Status: Complete

If you liked Paradise Kiss for the portrayal of a bunch of odd-balls coming together to do something creative together and inspiring Yukari with their passion OR for Yukari’s struggle with her mother academic expectations then you might enjoy the webtoon Spirit Fingers by Han Kyoung Chal!

Summary: What do you do if you're going on 18, totally awkward and lacking in self- confidence? You could just sit in your room all day and all night and study and wonder why you never get asked out…OR, if you’re Amy Song you could join up with the Spirit Fingers – the strangest, hippest, coolest (yet most welcoming) art club ever. But as Amy is about to learn, discovering your TRUE colors is about more than just painting.

Status: Complete, still being translated. Best part is you can start reading the series completely LEGALLY here. They changed the character’s first names to more western ones and it’s a bit behind the unofficial translations but I still recommend reading it legally.

If you liked NANA because you liked how the Nanas had the same name and had all these other similarities, meeting under fateful circumstances but also wish they’d date then give Lonely Wolf, Lonely Sheep a try by Fuka Mizutani!

Summary: Two women with the same name happens to meet each other when they're at the same hospital for the same injury. They want to become closer, but both must overcome their insecurities and self-loathing first.

Status: Complete

If you like the past/future telling aspect of NANA with a large, fully-fleshed cast of characters who are all living their life check out Cheese in the Trap by Soonkki. Sul is a very strong, no- nonsense MC but with plenty of charm with great friends. Like NANA it’s easy to hate some of the more flawed characters but at the end of the day even the antagonists have complex reasons for being the way they are and aren’t just living to be an opposing force.

Summary: Seol Hong is a hard-working student, who has returned to college after a long break. Jung Yu is a senior at the college known as Mr. Perfect. Seol feels like her life took a turn for the worse since she got involved with Jung. Is Jung intentionally turning Seol's life?

Status: Ongoing... I think? You can read the webtoon legally [here] and the translations are being posted weekly still at least.

Do you like younger looking characters like Mikako and Miwako? Do you like playboys like George as a male lead but wish he were a bit more earnest? Did you like how Akira and Midori took their time getting to know and understand each other by the end of the series? Do you just like how Yazawa emphasizes friendship in her work? Here’s Lovely Everywhere by Ke Li for you.

Summary: Tong Danwei is a high school freshman with romantic dreams about the boy she is fated to meet. While on the way home from picking up groceries, she runs into a pretty boy, and that’s where our story begins. Will she find love in high school? And more importantly, will any boy be able to overlook the fact that although she is in high school, she still looks like an elementary student?? Follow along on Tong Danwei’s adventure of love and high school angst, with plenty of comedy thrown in to the mix.

Status: Complete

If you like the supernatural mystery aspect of Kagen no Tsuki starring younger characters with mysteriously dead-but-not-dead characters, then Route 225 might by a good series to try. It’s by Shimura Takako & Fujino Chiya (Original Story). You might know Shimura Takako from her other series like Wandering Son and Sweet Blue Flower, so you know she is great portraying emotional realism like Yazawa.

Summary: 14-year-old Eriko finds herself left in charge of her younger brother Daigo when their parents suddenly disappear one warm summer evening. Trapped in a world that is very much like their own save for the lack of their parents, Eriko and Daigo find themselves desperate for the return of the worrywart mother and apathetic father they never thought they'd miss so badly...

Status: Complete

If you liked NANA because you liked reading about a pair of women who are very different and yet are very good friends to the point where their friendship is more important to them than romantic relationships (even if they struggle to properly communicate this to each other) then try the short series Tomodachi no Hanashi by Kawahara Kazune (Story) and Yamakawa Aiji (Art).

Summary: Eiko is something like a plain Jane and a doormat, while her best friend Moe is a head-turning beauty. Despite their differences, their friendship is as strong as ever. Guys are always asking Moe out, but her answer is inevitable, "only if you promise to put Eiko before me."

Status: Complete

Did you like how Hachi from NANA kept losing her jobs? And had no luck in love? Do you prefer to read about young adult characters? Even though we never talk about how funny Yazawa’s work is... was that something you really liked about her work? Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai by Nakahara Aya! Hachi and Shibata aren’t exactly alike but they are both fun to read and get into the mindset of in a similar way.

Summary: The unemployed Shibata Michiko is betting everything she has on her romance with a younger man—literally. In order to keep him happy, she deprives herself of the things she wants and buys him expensive clothing and accessories. Since she's flat out broke, she needs to find a job before she starves to death and loses her young love interest. However, Michiko discovers that the boy was never interested in her romantically. Depressed at being dumped and after a series of unsuccessful interviews, she bumps into Kurosawa—an intimidating former boss she used to dislike.

Status: Complete, with a spin-off

If you’re interested in exploring Mikako’s feelings from Gokingo Monogatari when she dropped out of school then Cat Street might interest you. Both MCs find themselves a group of friends and attend alternative high schools - though while Mikako’s is an art’s school, in Cat Street is more of a free school that seems to specialize in drop-outs and the like.

Summary: The story centers around Keito Aoyama, a former famous child actress. Due to a childhood incident, she retired from her career early and withdrew from normal society. Now 16, she passes her days in boredom and without purpose. But one day she runs into a stranger who takes her to El Liston--a free school for high school students like herself, who don't have a place where they belong. Though hesitant at first, Keito decides to enter El Liston and subsequently, she begins a new stage in her life. With the help of her only remaining childhood friend, Taiyou, and her new classmates Rei, Momiji, and Kouichi, Keito slowly finds the courage to open up to others and to accept their support. Will Keito return to acting? Will she find true friends? Love?

Status: Complete

If you want a series like NANA that is about adult women who are good friends and roommates as they balance their life with their career, love-lives, and friendship with each other try Tokyo Alice by Toriko Chiya. Alternatively, if you were wondering what Hachi might look like if you reversed her obsession with love with her love of shopping... you’ve got Tokyo Alice’s MC (lol)

Summary: Fu Arisugawa is a little worried there might be something wrong with her. She loves shopping above all else, using her money to buy designer and brand-name items to the exclusion of all else. But while her friends also enjoy shopping, they're all also on the hunt for love in one way or another – something that Fu finds she just isn't all that interested in. When her boss starts showing interest in her, will Fu figure it out? Or is she going to keep going in her shopping wonderland?

Status: Complete, also has a recent drama that you can watch with Prime TV!

If what interested you most about NANA was it’s portrayal of the music industry of a new band and wanted more of that then try Beck by Sakuishi Harold. Beck, like NANA, has an anime that while it doesn’t cover the entire series is worth watching or even having the soundtrack on as you read the series.

Summary: Fourteen-year-old Yukio "Koyuki" Tanaka is a dispirited young boy with no goals in life. However, this all changes when Koyuki saves a strange-looking dog named Beck from being harassed by a group of local kids. The dog's owner, 16-year-old Ryuusuke "Ray" Minami, is an emerging guitarist and the former member of a popular rock band. After Koyuki meets Ray again in a diner, the older boy leads him to his former band's meeting place and dazzles Koyuki with his amazing guitar skills. Slowly becoming interested in the glamour of western rock culture, Koyuki decides to start playing the guitar while helping Ray achieve his dream of leading the ultimate rock band. Together with Ray's younger sister Maho and a few other members, the two boys launch their career into the world of rock by forming a band called BECK. Beck follows the group's struggles and successes as they spread their fame across Japan.

Status: Complete

If you like how Yazawa writes her female “rival” characters as sympathetic and likable (even if not everything they do is likable) then you might enjoy Koda Momoko’s Heroine Shikkaku. It’s about a girl who is shocked when she discovers she’s more like the bitchy villainess who bullies the sweet and pure heroine in shojo manga.

Summary: This could be any girl. Imagine being a heroine of a love story. Hatori also believed that one day she would get married to her childhood friend, Rita. But that's not how the world works! This is a hilarious comedy that honestly paints a painful unrequited love story of this young girl!

Status: Complete

If you want a short read like NANA, with two very different girls with the same name who tie their futures together then read the one-shot Watashi to Watashi by Sahara Mizu. Note that I’m only suggesting you read this specific one-shot, not any of the other one-shots contained in the collection this one is in... Actually I very much insist you don’t read the first one. I highly recommend reading others’ of Sahara Mizu’s work if you enjoy this one because even if none of them are directly similar to any of Yazawa’s... the emotional complexity is.

Summary: Two girls with the same name; one beautiful and athletic, the other awkward and shunned. But who’s the lucky one?

Status: Complete

If you like a series having 2 characters named Nana in NANA (even if their relationship with each other is... entirely different) and enjoy the format of Nana and Hachi continuing to address each other in inner monologues in the future where they haven’t seen each other for years or you just like messy, realistic relationships try We Were There by Obata Yuuki.

Summary: The start of high school life. To the girls, that also meant the start of their love lives. For brand new first year student, Takahashi Nanami (Nana for short), it was no different... She happens to end up in the same class as the incredibly popular Yano Motoharu, who rumors say that two thirds of all the girls are guaranteed to fall in love with. But will that hold true for Nana, who says that if she had to choose between like or dislike, she'd say she dislikes him!?

Status: Complete

What was your favorite thing about Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai? Was it Akira struggling with his feelings for someone that married into his family? Was it Midori and Mamirin’s friendship? Try Omoi, Omoware, Furi, Furare by Sakisaka Io. (Strobe Edge also by Sakisaka might also work for you).

Summary: The story centers around Yuna and Akari who have two very different views of love: Yuna is someone who sees love as a dream and Akari is someone who is very realistic about her romance choices. Meanwhile, there are two boys, Kazuomi and Rio, who also have different views of love: Kazuomi's an airhead and doesn't understand the concept of love, while Rio grabs the opportunity when confessed to as long as the girl looks cute.

Status: Complete, being translated

If you just like Yazawa’s work and want to read works by a close friend of hers... Yoshizumi Wataru! You might know her best from Marmalade Boy, but she also worked on quite a few josei works about young adults... Like Cappuccino (if you like moving on from a first serious relationship as we saw with Hachi and Shouji), but also Cherish and Spicy Pink.

🔎 - Detective AU

It heavily irritated the male every time he was called for an interview by the detectives, but what annoyed him most was him suddenly getting arrested and questioned for a crime he didn’t do. Yes, it’s understandable why he was always the suspect. But the process was getting to his nerves. He was currently handcuffed outside a room.

“Please tell me it;s not Detective Kaoru. The last time I saw him, he made me sing a song of the Backstreet Boys.” He hissed at the cop who was currently removing his handcuffs. “If it were him, I’m going to fucking snap.” He may have known Kaoru before he became a criminal, but he was getting very tired of everything.

“It’s not.” The cop who covered his eyes with his hair replied. “It’s someone else. I am not sure if you’ve seen her before.” He opens the door and he gestures for him to get inside. “If you want to see who it is, you should enter the room.”

“Whatever, Ibusaki.” Those were the last words he was able to say before the door was shut behind him. “You’re just going to waste my time interviewing me.” He spat.

“Now that’s not really a nice way to greet your girlfriend, Tatsuya!”

The detective he had to face was his childhood friend, but also his current girlfriend. They dated before he got arrested, and to his surprise they were still together once he went out of jail. “Che. Make it quick. I hate this process.” He went to the chair and sat down.

“Actually, I know you didn’t do it. But people say that it could be you.” She shrugged before she brought out some files. “Since some evidence leans to you. You have a similar knife that you’ve said you lost in the murder case.”

“Okay yeah. It’s not me. I’m not that fucking stupid to leave a weapon. Added to that, I never did the crime and people got the wrong guy.” He began looking at the papers that was set before him. “But of course I can’t talk shit now, at least I’m free and now I have a fucking chance of going back to that hell hole.”

Mi sighed before she brought her hand to his face. “You have to know that you’re one of the reasons why I wanted to do what I’m currently doing. I want to be a better detective so people like you wouldn’t be caught in messes like this. Especially if they didn’t do it.”

Tatsuya suddenly became quiet and a small blush appeared on his face. “You’re fucking stupid, you know that? Trusting me so easily. I could be lying to you and yet you’re treating me like this. Job before love, you brat.”

“Alright then! Let’s do this quick.” She laughed before she placed her hand away. “But of course I trust you. I’m a detective. I can read your gestures. I know you’ve always been telling the truth. Always.”

🔮 - Fantasy AU [Moe belongs to @polar-stars !! Keiko belongs to @polar-star-dorks!!]

Yuriko always disliked that she fell in love with a mage. He was much smarter than her and he was so clever that she could never reach his level. She only fell in love with him after he used magic to protect her while he had to remain damaged. If he didn’t protect her that day, she wouldn’t be feeling this way.

“God, I hate this man so much.” Yuriko leaned on the wall of the guilt and her friend only stared at her. “He’s so ridiculously smart and he will probably end up rejecting a mere fighter like me, I’d rather not feel this way if I already know the outcome! This is so stupid to talk about! Ugh! I’m so sorry, Moe…”

“You can tell me anything even if you think it’s stupid.” The girl who was listening her began talking. “I wouldn’t want you to keep it all in.” Moe sounded blunt but Yuriko was terribly happy to hear that from her.

“Moe, I love you so much. You’re the best.” Yuriko began carrying the female, and she instantly cheered up. “I’m so happy that you’re my friend! Now, we should go to our quest with Keiko and Takashi.”

Moe was currently being carried by Yuriko, but she gave a tiny nod, agreeing with the female. The two went out of the guild and they saw two of their companions squealing.

“Takashi! Did you see that?! They kissed!”

“Yes! I totally saw that!! I wish I had the ability to freeze time!”

Yuriko placed Moe down and it actually confused her on why her two other friends were acting this way. “Wait… who kissed?”

Moe raised her arm and pointed at one direction. “They kissed again.”

Following the direction of Moe’s fingers, she glanced up to see Tamotsu and Himari together and Yuriko twitched slightly just seeing them. If they were together at this moment, that would mean that the person who she was talking about just some minutes ago will probably be here too…

“Yuriko, is that you?”

Fuck. He was there.

Keiko suddenly had her soul going out of her body once again because the day was truly a blessing. First, HibiTori partnered up for a quest, then one of Takashi’s main ships kissed and now one of her NGM pals was having a conversation with her crush.

Moe only watched everything go down. Her expression didn’t change but she did know that her other current members would probably be feeling very happy seeing this. However, her day wouldn’t be completely perfect until she saw one of her OTPs together for who-knows-what reason.

“Riku?” Yuriko felt her heart beat faster but she chose to act completely like herself. “My, my~! I didn’t expect you to be here!” She playfully punched his chest and he grabbed her hand. “Awww! Aren’t you being sweet holding my hand like that?” She began teasing him a bit to hider her current feelings.

“Being sweet? What? No. It’s a little warning because your fist grew tense and it actually did hurt when you punched me.” He sighed but he used his magic to heal herself. “I wanted to tell you something, but I do believe you and your current party is planning to do something important.” He places his hand down before turning around. “Maybe another time.”

“Be sure to tell me soon!” She went forward to slide her finger on his back to surprise him. “You might forget it.”

“… Alright.” Honestly, he wished that he could forget it. “Next time then.”

Forget that he might have gained feelings for her. But she didn’t know that.

There were several people who were in the princess’ place. There were a bunch of suitors who wanted to win her heart and be the next king of the throne. Honestly, even if people may think she might be dense because of her appearance- they were wrong. She could totally read their intentions, and most of the time, it gave a bitter taste in her mouth.

She never really liked any of her suitors. They all acted so polite and loving, but once they talked… it changed. She felt all the dishonesty in their voice, and knew that they’d never keep their promises to her. Of course, she should have expected that because she’s going to be the next queen. But she actually wanted to feel genuine love from one of her suitors.

“Princess Suzume is lucky she was able to get someone like Prince Akio in her life.” Michiko began talking to herself. “I wonder how she was able to find such a great suitor like Akio… I wish I could get someone like that…” She placed her hands together. “Or maybe marry someone who isn’t in a noble background… Prince Tamaki was able to meet someone so loving. Yoko had a bad reputation but that was proven wrong… Not much expected that but their relationship is so sweet…”

The door suddenly opened and Michiko fixed her posture, and began bring in a fake smile on her face. “Good Evening.” She instantly did a curtsy bow and the person in front of her only began laughing at her reaction. That laugh… it was someone who she wished was one of her suitors… but she’d never say that out loud. “Toshio?!” She lifted her head and spotted a man in armor.

“Yes, princess. It’s me.” Toshio responded but quickly removed his helmet. “It’s your favorite knight. Toshio Nakiri.” She was able to see his ginger hair and his purple eyes and admittedly, those two colors became her favorite because of him. He could have been one of her suitors if it weren’t for him being a knight.

“What brings you here?” She asked. It was not because she was against his visit, but currently it was time for him to do his job. He shouldn’t be talking to her at this time, he should be guarding the gates. “My father might be mad at you if he knew about this… You know how protective he is, and knowing our best knight isn’t doing his job-”

“Don’t need to worry about that, princess. The current guards are great too! We only changed our shifts recently because I requested it!” He went closer to her and began ruffling her hair. “I only wanted to talk to you… because it’s your almost your birthday and I can’t afford to miss it.”

“And that is?”

“Happy Birthday and be careful with whoever you pick, Michiko.” He brings her hand to his lips to give a soft kiss. “Because if it isn’t me, they better treat you right.”

Kuga placed his hands in his pocket as he walked around the area of the gang of Aroon, Gaia, Canción, Lotus and Sukiru. They were a gang that only consisted of 5 people, but according to several people- they all did their job well despite being at a small number compared to other gangs. Their place looked totally normal and they even acted as if they had nothing to do with a gang.

Canción was currently playing with a guitar and Aroon was swooning over the music he was playing. “You’re doing great, Guitar Hero! Damn you’re so great at this!” He leaned at the couch before gesturing for other people to come. “Daddy Wolverine, Flower! Come over here! Let’s listen to the Guitar Hero do his thing!” He patted the empty spaces near him. “Let’s all sit together!”

“It still surprises me that you’re all happy despite how dark our real job is.” Lotus was the only female present at the moment, but she decided to sit down next to her gang leader while Sukiru refused to move anywhere close to them.

“I don’t want to be called that.”

“Wolverine?”

“The “D” word, Aroon.”

“Daddy?”

“Yes.”

Kuga really didn’t know how this gang worked. Canción seemed so innocent, he was playing his guitar and it gave a calm atmosphere. Lotus was looking at papers and managing the plans, Sukiru was preparing dinner for the rest while Aroon was only messing around, while declaring his love for the gang… But… Gaia was nowhere to be found.

Kuga began looking around and Canción noticed him. “Oh! If you’re looking for Gaia, she’s in the basement.” He started playing the guitar again after he told her about one of his closest friends’ whereabouts. “She goes back up again once any of our amigos or amigas call her!”

“Thanks, Guitar Hero.”

“Hey? How dare you? Only I and the gang can call him that name. Be original, you runt.”

“Fuck you!”

“Please be quiet. I’m trying to organize these plans.” Lotus sighed before Aroon wrapped an arm around her and looking over at the papers she was holding.

“Okay. I’ll shut up now so you can do your managing skills. Canción, please play the song again. Sukiru continue making dinner. Damn I love my gang.”

Their voices faded as soon as Kuga decided to take some steps down to the basement. He was so lucky that he knew the secret pathway so he wouldn’t need to ask them anymore. Their basement had some targets and weapons, and even a couple of boards where there were a bunch of writings. He spotted the girl with brown hair and grey eyes.

The moment he took his last step, she turned around and pointed the gun she was currently holding at him. “Woah- Woah- Woah! It’s just me!” Kuga almost yelled but even if she shot him by accident, he could have dodged the bullet. She placed her gun in the holster before looking away.

“Sorry.” She doesn’t say a word besides that but she did walk to him and touch the right side of his cheek. Until now, Kuga didn’t understand every gesture she did, but he knew what this one meant.

“Yeah. I know. At most you’d only damage my cheeks.” He holds her hand and places it away. “It’s fine though! The greatest man in the whole yakuza would be able to dodge that kind of hit.” He always praised himself and she only smiled a tiny bit when he said those words.

“I don’t expect anything less from you, Terunori.” She smiled at him before squeezing his hands. “… Wait, I meant Kuga.”

“Actually, I prefer you calling me Terunori.” He allowed her to grip his hands. He was always told by her fellow members that only meant that she cared for you. “Masae.” It was only recently where he heard her real name, but he would only call her that when they’re alone.

“Still… not used to it.” There was a blush on her cheeks and he only laughed at her reaction.

“To be honest, I’m not used to seeing you with your real hair color and eye color either. But I don’t really mind it! Seeing your real self makes me think that you might like me.” He winked at her and he noticed that her grip only became softer and she pulled her hands away to cover her face.

“… Please don’t say that.” She mutters softly before she started walking away. “I’m going back to practice.”

“Aw! Did my charm make you fluster?” He tried to joke around but her steps only got faster. “I was kidding! At least let me practice with you before it’s time for dinner!”

They may have never really told each other’s feelings for one another yet, but they already knew each other’s answers.

Wednesday 27 Dec. 2017 The days are becoming longer, again. Hooray. I really dislike the very short days of winter. Grey, cool and damp with light raindrops and snow flurries. I got a lot of painting done, taking it light on exercises... my hips are hurting so I'm taking a sit up break and doing toe touching.

The end of another year. Time to reflect and make plans for the coming year. I've been doing the nude selfies for 3 years, now. It was meant to be a one year project but I've been exercising more since I began pain management and hormone replacement. I was feeling pretty crappy back in 2012 but, finally, found some good doctors and a good family doctor who had a hunch what my problem was and, now, I'm in hormone replacement therapy.

I hurt a lot but have learned to live with my aches. They are under control about 2/3 of the time and the rest I've had to adjust to as part of my life. Being old sucks.

So... still not sure what the coming year will be. I am a year behind on my painting projects. They were supposed to have been completed a year ago. Oh well. The good part is I've gotten a lot better at the painting thing and have developed a style quite my own. Woohoo... or something.

As for the naked selfies? Who knew so many people would want to see a naked old man? Well, I have no shame and, if you wish to see my balls, it's OK with me. I am, however, getting close to finishing the landscape painting project... over 25 landscapes in acrylic paint. I have a large number of oil painting not completed and a large acrylic male nude to complete. I want to put my energy into my paintings and making more podcast style videos. I'm trying, as best I can, to stay in shape so I'll continue to record my naked body but will, likely, not attempt to make it a daily thing. I'm already OCD and changing my habits is hard once I get into something. It takes time to upload photos and videos, so I plan to keep doing it but, more likely, every several days, or weekly. Weekly would be best, I think. I'll work it out over the next few days. I want to do more video stuff... it's time consuming.

Anyhow, it's the end of 2017. Can't believe I'm still alive.

FREE SPEECH is becoming an endangered subject. It's becoming like a Henry Ford Model T. You can have any colour you want so long as it's black.

Universities, those cash gouging institutions of poor learning try, not only, to crank more and more idiots through a course of meaningless shit for a meaningless degree taught by teachers who know little, they have become forces against progress and learning. If you don't have a PhD, your degree didn't teach you very much and you likely forgot most of what you learned.

If you have a Bachelor's degree, and nothing more, you blew your cash to bribe your way into a job you are likely not qualified for, anyway. I have zero respect for a Bachelor of Arts degree... none. You're not qualified for anything, at all. You, likely, would fail a good grammar exam because your command of English is so poor. I expect you know nothing much about anything. You, likely, have poor math skills and know nothing of history, at all. NADA. Our educational system is in need of a complete overhaul.

There is no reason, at all, why every grade of school should not be online, 24 hours a day... every course, every subject, available to everyone, 24 hours a day... at home. It would be constantly updated and improved with new knowledge. Teachers who don't know much of their subject would become obsolete, rather quickly. The only requirement to get a degree would be to pass a set of exams set by government. Prove your identity, do the exams, and you're in. Anyone, anywhere, could have an education in every grade and subject. Schools, as we know them would become obsolete.

Now, if anyone has an opinion outside of the common thought, one is a heretic likely to lose one's job and position. Universities bar speakers with opinions not shared by the common idiots. We live in a world with no child left behind, everyone is as qualified as everyone else and everyone is a hero. I so hate this world I, quite truly, look forward to being dead. Seriously... I hate this planet and wish I had never been born into it. I'm trying, my best, to save your idiot asses from a horrific future that is coming to this sick, sick, sick, sick planet.

I don't have the answers as to how to save the planet. I expect nature to take its course and the bulk of the planet to die off, very soon. We have terrible leaders and a hopeless population. A benevolent dictatorship is the only way to rule this barbaric rock of a planet.

The problem is finding leaders who are qualified to rule. The Chinese seem to be evolving into the future power on the planet. I expect the Chinese will take over the planet. They are totally ruthless and have no morals of any kind.

I said it, I mean it. Oh? You don't like my opinion? Well, fuck you asshole. I've tried 'nice'. Nice does not work. Have you ever noticed how con artists are all buddy buddy when they meet you? All smiles and acting like your long lost friend? It all goes well until you don't play along then it's "fuck you". I try to be nice to everyone and am not likely to make friends with anyone. I don't trust humans one little bit. You will have to prove yourself to me and I don't wait up.

If you had only one substance to make the universe with and it could be broken down to as small as it needed to be at any time... i.e. it could be so small it barely exists, at all, there will STILL be TWO different types... that is because one can choose to spin LEFT or RIGHT in space. Even turning yourself upside down will not change that fact because there is no up, nor down, in space.

The fact that everything SOLID must have spin, either left or right, introduces opposite forces. Things which spin the SAME way repel each other, those that spin the OPPOSITE way attract each other... clumping begins and so does a universe. Another thing comes into being... what we term magnetism. There MUST be opposite POLES... magnetism comes into being with spin. Spin creates opposites, including North/South polarity. In Atoms, any atom that isn't in balance... has an equal number of left and right spinning Electrons, will be affected by magnetism... and radio waves.

Absolute rest is not possible… ever. For instance, the Sun and planets are moving around the Milky Way at about 230Km/S and the Milky way is moving through space about 400-600 Kilometres per second. Nothing ever goes backwards, nothing ever travels in a circle.

The universe can not end. Time is change and is an illusion. Time is entirely relative to how large/small something is. If you are an Electron of less than 1/1,000,000,000,000,000th of a metre, in size, one second is a VERY, VERY, VERY, long time. One foot is a VERY, VERY, VERY long distance to an Electron. Light travel just less than ONE FOOT in a billionth of a second. Time awareness is entirely dependent on how large something is. The Milky Way requires over 150 million light years to exist... it is HERE and THERE, at the same time... a single entity that requires over 150 million light years to cross... or how an Electron views a distance of several feet.

It is always now, everywhere, all at once, all of the time. Proof of that is that ANY object MUST be HERE and THERE at the SAME time, no matter how large… even a Galaxy. It is always NOW on both sides… here and there, in space, of the Galaxy… all galaxies, everywhere. Waves can be either physical or electronic. The duality of the universe keeps it ongoing. DNA is the battery of life. When the chains can no longer co-operate, life ceases in the body. Life, itself, is a duality. Time measurement is a relativity convenience.) Time travel is impossible because time is not a place and nothing stays where it was. One year from now the Solar System will have moved about seven BILLION kilometres through space and will NEVER return to where it was… ever.

Earth travels through space like a long wave… it has NEVER, ever made an actual circle, nor ellipse, in space. The circle/ellipse is an illusion of relativity. Nothing can ever travel in an actual circle in space… NOTHING. Nothing can ever go backward. Backwards motion is an illusion of relativity. Time is a repercussion of change and has no fixed rate… things explode or move like a glacier. At best we can only compare rates of change. Our rate of change is called the second/minute/hour/day/month/year system.

NOTHING CAN EVER MOVE IN A TRUE CIRCLE. THE EARTH HAS NEVER MADE A LOOP IN SPACE… EVER. YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW.

Earth moves about 7 billion kilometers through space, each year… in a long wave. Earth NEVER returns to where it was before. Cast Announced For THE BOYS IN THE BAND at Windy City Playhouse

Windy City Playhouse (3014 W. Irving Park Rd.) is thrilled to present Mart Crowley’s groundbreaking play, “The Boys in the Band,” directed by Playhouse Associate Artistic Director Carl Menninger, beginning January 29, 2020. The Playhouse invites audience members to sit inches from the characters who helped spark a revolution by putting gay men's lives onstage during the pre-Pride era. Fresh off its Tony Award-winning Broadway revival, this landmark play comes to Chicago for the first time in 20 years at Windy City Playhouse Flagship. The cast of “The Boys in the Band” includes Sam Bell Gurwitz as Harold, Christian Edwin Cook as Alan, Jordan Dell Harris as Donald, Jackson Evans as Michael, James Lee as Larry, Kyle Patrick as Cowboy, Ryan Reilly as Hank and Denzel Tsopnang as Bernard. The role of Emory will be announced at a future date. Set in 1968, the play takes place at the birthday party of Harold, who is turning 32. Luckily, friend-enemy Michael is there with six mutual friends to help him ease into the big three-two. The party is all jokes and quips until the host proposes a harmless game of truth or dare. Suddenly, each must reckon with his sexual identity -- out, closeted, flamboyant, or "passing" -- in an oppressive world where self-love is a luxury. At this party, the cake tastes like truth, and everyone gets a slice. “Coming out, living in the closet, being discriminated against because someone is queer is still a problem in this country (and even more so in the world),” said Director, Carl Menninger. “We’re looking forward to presenting such a historic and important piece that began the journey of gay theatre in America. ‘The Boys in the Band’ was relevant in 1968 and is just as relevant today.” In true Playhouse fashion, guests will be invited to sit on the various couches, chairs and love seats that make up the quintessentially mid-Century, sunken living room in which the show takes place. Patrons will be welcome to move from seat to seat as they wish but will be otherwise seated throughout the show. Guests will be offered small cocktail samplings (with non-alcoholic options available) and party snacks will be available for the taking throughout the show. “Having the chance to transport audiences to Michael's living room in 1968 New York is a unique and special opportunity for us,” said Playhouse Artistic Director, Amy Rubenstein. “We search for stories that we want to jump inside of and this is a party that I certainly want to be a fly on the wall for. As we delve deeper and deeper into ‘The Boys in the Band,’ we learn how far we've come, how far we still have to go and how lucky we are to have this perspective.” The 2018 Broadway revival production of “The Boys in the Band” won the 2019 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play. She is a proud member of Actors Equity Association. Spencer Fritz (Assistant Stage Manager) Fritz is excited to be working with Windy City Playhouse for the first time. Recent credits include: “Shadows of Birds” (Glass Apple Theatre); “Admissions” (Theatre Wit); “Dark at the Top of the Stairs” (Eclipse Theater) and a few projects with Silk Road Rising. He is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago where he has worked on numerous productions including: “Caroline, or Change,” “Peer Gynt” and one of the only productions of “Make Me Bad: A Musical Thriller.” Amy Rubenstein is the Artistic Director and co-founder of Windy City Playhouse. Since the theater’s premiere in March 2015, she has overseen 15 mainstage productions, including the recent smash hit, world premiere “Southern Gothic,” of which she was also a co-creator. During her tenure, the Playhouse has been lauded for its uniquely contemporary approach that focuses on audience experience and has received numerous industry accolades, including 15 Joseph Jefferson Award nomination including three subsequent best production nodes for 2018’s “Southern Gothic,” 2019’s “Noises Off” and 2019’s “The Recommendation, 11 Chicago Theater Awards, including the 2018 Trailblazer Award, and three International Centre for Women Playwrights’ 50/50 Awards. day 7

full day of classes today - media & society in the morning and culture by design in the evening. me hannah and paige (and sheila? i think?) all have these classes together - which is lit.

media & society is taught by a man named Moe who looks like steven tyler and makes absolutely no sense, but is nevertheless obviously very brilliant. he was one of the pioneers in making media & society a field of study. he took us to the russell square cafe and then on a walk around all of the nearby educational buildings and campuses.

next was culture by design with J. J is a JMU alumni who actually completed this program when he was in school. he brought us to Camden Market and wow. like just wow?? no words. it was the coolest place ever with all these edgy shops and decorations and a tattoo/piercing place lived on every corner. the market itself was overwhelming and amazing. there were rows and rows of food stands with cuisine from all over the world. i got food from a venezuelan food truck that made fried cornbread stuffed with plantain, pico de gallo, black beans, sour cream, and lettuce. it was freakin amazing.

jacob texted me to see if i wanted to go with him and anton and anton’s roommate who is apparently the manager at a pub, to said pub. i agreed and brought sheila and paige along with me (of course).

we waited for hours.

by the time we got to wherever-the-fuck anton lives, he had apparently decided he needed a nap. so he texted jacob and sent us to a nearby bar called alice house. we all hung out there for a while and got some (pricey) drinks, just chatting and laughing and having a good time. after a while though, it became apparent that anton was never going to show up.

jacob started getting anxious. he drank a lot and took dozens of smoke breaks. me sheila and paige were worried for him, so we decided to ask him if he wanted to go somewhere else and party and get fucking drunk as hell. i went outside alone to find jacob smoking. i didn’t say anything. i didn’t really need to address it.

“what do you want to do?” i asked, knowing that we both were perfectly aware that he had just been stood up.

jacob didn’t answer right away. he just started talking.

he does that sometimes, i’ve noticed. he just talks. he doesn’t care if you’re even really listening, but he just has so much going on in that brilliant mind of his all the time that sometimes he needs to just get it out. so i listen.

he tells me how much he trusts me and what good friends we are and how close and comfortable he feels with me. then he describes to me the kind of person he wants to date and the relationship he wants to have with them. it is, essentially, the same list.

finally, jacob says: “i want to get fucking wasted” and i want that for him, too

we go back to g-a-y because it’s what jacob wants and all we want is to cheer him up. on the walk there, arm in arm, he tells me more about himself and his life and how hard it is for people to understand him. i tell him i’m doing my best and i think he really believes me.

he yells at a drunk man on the way. i tell him that he’s self-destructive and he seems to think about that for a while.

little did i know how right i was and what the rest of the night would bring.

within minutes of getting into the club, jacob and i began to dance and make out (as we do) and I'm fucking living for it. he makes me feel like I'm so alive and electric but its so comfortable it the same time. it’s only the second time but it’s already so familiar, being with him.

he talks to me and trusts me and i listen and support him and kiss him and he tells me I'm perfect. simple as that. perfect. me. no one has ever called me perfect before.

“except i’m not a guy, right?” i joke. jacob gives me a funny look and shakes his head vehemently.

“no! no not at all - i told you that I'm into attractive people, and you’re the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.”

no one’s ever told me this before either.

so i believe him and i kiss him and i trust him. after a while, we go outside for jacob to take a smoke break. i’m hesitant because he’s already smoked so much, so when he finishes his first cigarette i take it out of his hands.

bad move.

jacob gets angry. very angry. he tells me that he doesn’t like it when people control him - that people CANT control him. i assure him that i’m only trying to help.

“you can’t make me not gay you know.”

i physically and emotionally withdraw from him. he reaches for me and pulls me back into him and kisses my face and hair telling me how beautiful i am and that if any guy ever tells me otherwise, that he’ll kill them all. i’m just confused now and upset, so i walk away from him. he meets back up with me inside and we dance and kiss like we’re normal and what we do is normal and nothing is wrong.

jacob is very obviously becoming more and more disturbingly drunk as the night goes on. sheila and paige want to go home, and honestly, so do i. so, we tell jacob it’s time to leave.

“you can leave, go with them. i’m going to stay here.”

jacob actually thinks i’m gonna leave his ass behind. i tell him that i’d never do that, and it’s a constant back and forth for almost an hour. he runs from me and kisses me to try and divert my attention and he refuses to listen to reason. i’m begging him at this point. he’s so drunk it’s like he doesn't even see me.

“jacob, you said you trust me, right? well i need you to trust me right now when i say it’s time to go home.”

“and i need you to trust me that i’m fine.” he’s slurring his words and his eyes are glazed over. the two of us are pressed forehead to forehead.

“i want to, jacob,” i tell him, my heart breaking. “but right now in this moment, i don’t. you are way too drunk -”

“too drunk?” jacob cuts me off and cups my face with both of his hands. “you think i’m too drunk right now? you think i’m too drunk to see your beautiful eyes right in front of me?”

he’s quite the talker.

finally, we convince jacob that it’s time to leave.

he searches his pockets and realizes that he doesn’t have his keys. we’ve already left the club and started walking home and he swears that he left them on a couch in the back. i go back by myself to find them for him, but after taking two laps around, i am sure they aren’t there.

jacob doesn’t accept that as an answer. he insists on standing out in front of the club all night, asking people as they walk out if they’ve seen his keys. it’s ridiculous and embarrassing and horrifying and he won’t stop and he won’t listen to me and i’m crying, begging him to just come home with me.

paige messages me that she and sheila couldn’t wait anymore and that they’ve gone home. jacob finally agrees to leave only because he would never let me walk home by myself.

the walk back is one of the most painful parts of the night.

we hold hands and walk down the london city streets at 3 in the morning, him yelling and ranting like a crazy person and me, staring straight ahead, tears rolling down my cheeks and a dead look in my eyes. he doesn’t sound like himself, talk like himself, act like himself. it’s terrifying.

we get back and i walk him to his room in the hopes that we’ll be able to get one of his roommates to let him in. while we’re waiting, jacob, his face in my hands, begins to cry. the most horrible, painful looking cry i’ve ever seen. like something he’s been holding back for so long was finally too much for him to hold inside.

i just hold him and whisper that everything will be alright. he tells me that nothing is alright in his life and i don’t know what to say so i just keep assuring him that everything is fine. his roommate lets him in and before I'm even downstairs to my flat, jacob is messaging me that I'm perfect and his keys were in his flat the whole time, and i break down and cry.

I'm emotionally and physically exhausted, i’m scared for jacob and whatever is going on in his head, and i realize something very scary.

i love him. i must, in some way, because i spent the entire night putting him and his safety above my own. i put him first. i never put other people first, but here i was, putting myself at risk just for some guy i met a week ago. but it feels right somehow, and i can’t imagine ever leaving him behind.
