BLACK DOOR: THE CRESCENT’S HAUNTED ROOM 218 - Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The most haunted room at the Crescent Hotel (c. 1886) in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. This room is reportedly inhabited by the restless spirit of an Irish-immigrant construction worker named "Michael" who is said to have fallen to his death while working on the floors above when this building was built. A number of popular ghost hunting TV shows (such as “Ghost Hunters”), and multitudes of paranormal researchers, have reported ghostly activity (moving objects, weight on the bed from an invisible presence, cold spots, and spectral touches) in haunted Room 218. The most commonly reported paranormal occurrence is when guests return to this room to find all of their luggage barricaded against the door from the inside. The bathroom is said to be the most active spot. It is also said that Michael especially likes to “interact” with female guests. Be warned. CREEPY “CANCER BOTTLES” UNEARTHED AT THE HAUNTED CRESCENT HOTEL - Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Pictured: The University of Arkansas dig-site on the grounds of the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs (April, 2019). On February 5th, 2019, the facility landscaper, while working a new plot on the grounds of the 1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa, unearthed some curious, old glass bottles/jars buried beneath the soil. After notifying authorities and contacting archaeologists from the Arkansas Archaeology Survey (University of Arkansas) a scientific dig was soon initiated to recover what appeared to be dozens of bottles filled with “cancerous tissue” and liquids that date to the 1930s-period when the hotel operated as the infamously notorious Cancer Curable Baker Hospital. The Baker Hospital was a quack enterprise that exploited the sick amidst horrible conditions and caused countless misery and death. Known to have been displayed in the morgue, at one time, the morbid cancer specimen collection was believed to have been disposed of at a local dump in the 90s - but, as it turns out, the creepy collection of cancerous containers was simply buried in an old fire pit just behind the now-hotel. By April, the dig was able to exhume over 400 different glass containers filled with a variety of types of tumorous tissue. The Crescent Hotel, a location with a reputation of being haunted (“The Most Haunted Hotel in America”) due to the horrid conditions from its hospital days, embraces its haunted history and intends to return the jars to their place in the basement morgue to be displayed - and to, hopefully, trigger more ghostly activity. THE HAUNTED CRESCENT’S BACK WALKWAY - The Crescent Hotel and Spa (1886) in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. A creepy nighttime shot of the allegedly haunted Crescent Hotel’s back walkway. This dark path leads past, and around, the hotel’s spa and banquet hall area. No other people were observed, inside or outside, as I walked past these windows and peered inside. Yet, some folks who have been shown this pic contend the a “figure” - or a “face” - is readily visible peering from the dark window just above the optical lens flare! Incidentally, this photo was taken near the spot where, according to lore, a distraught woman fell to her death in a fit of suicidal despair. Is this a spectral “entity” captured on camera at a notoriously haunted hotel? Or just a trick of light, shadow and imagination? (Don’t see it? In this beautiful Victorian-style retreat, guests report seeing the ghosts of doctors, nurses, and patients (and a few spectral CHILDREN).
