Watching Hataraku Saibou (Cells At Work) with Mori or Yosano

Like, even though they haven’t really concerned themselves with the topics that the show covers, it would take them back to the more innocent times of med school and they’d slowly remember what they studied back then. They’d share with you details that the show didn’t and or fill you in if some topic was too complex so you’d fully understand. Perhaps you’d even get to hear some stories from their student years.

The opening would never be skipped because it’s so cute and catchy - and there’s a platelet in there, so of course Mori will insist you always watch it. While Yosano would join you as you sang along, laughing at your excitement.

Yosano would definitely love the NK cell and fangirl over her, complaining how little screen time she got compared to the Killer T cell, totally joining her when she mocked him. Also she’d protect Eosinophil and shout at the tv every time someone dissed her. She’d deny it but she was very proud of the progress that the Red blood cell made.

Mori, of course, would love the platelets. He’d be super excited after he saw them in the opening and it would only go south from there. It would almost look like he was the one who suggested watching from how giddy he became when a new ep came out. He would be a mush of happiness when they made appearance, dying from their cuteness. But assuring you that you were even cuter, only they were so smol and innocent he felt like he needs to protect them.

If you suffer from any allergies, they’d tease you by making cedar’s noises when you sneezed. Also Sneeze One would become your little inside joke.

Both of them would tease you when you get emotional over the cancer cell’s speech and story, reminding you that your cells are not in fact this self-aware and explaining the inner working of things some more.

If there were any inaccuracies, they’d let you know and educate you. Both of them I imagine would be super annoyed by the romance between White and Red cell. Especially if you ever joked that by the end of the first season she’d be pregnant with something like a pink cell.

Watching the show would become your little ritual that you both enjoyed and treasured. You loved to see their nerdy medical side come out since it didn’t happen much – unless it was for surgeries and life-and-death situations, so this lighthearted mood was a welcomed change.

Everyone was met with loud laughter when the first season of Cells At Work was released back in 2018. The anime series is based on a manga written by Akane Shimizu, and the manga is all about the red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets that keep the human body functioning properly. And now, in 2021, the series made a return with Cells At Work season 2.
