Episode 7: Responsible Owners Should Clean Up After Their Pets
I’m honestly starting to tire of this. But my tiredness has not overwhelmed my unending urge to never shut the fuck up so I’m continuing this.
Madao—Hasegawa’s first appearance and subsequently fall from grace is documented in this episode. It feels good to see Hasegawa gainfully employed, though stuck in a corrupt system. We get some worldbuilding in the form of the relationship between the Amanto and the Bafuku. There was already implied to be a power imbalance, but this episode makes it (along with the colonization metaphor) very explicit.
Note: Gintoki kicking Hasegawa in the face… real meet cute.
We see Baka Ouji—excuse me, Hata Ouji appearing in this episode as well, with his slimy hobby of collecting exotics.
This episode, in classic Gintama fashion, was loads of fun. We get a repeat of the Trashcan Hijinks, this time in the form of Jar Hijinks.
Here comes the core of this episode, the philosophy that led to the ruination of Hasegawa’s career.
It is funny though, how after Hasegawa decided to follow in Ginsan’s philosophy, he immediately loses his job lmao. It actually reminds me of how Gintoki decked Nobunobu in the face in Farewell Shinsengumi.
P.S. I think this is the first time I’ve seen the post-credits for this episode. It’s interesting how they incorporate Sorachi’s author notes imto the post-credits. God bless Kagura and her giant Pesu-Takoyaki.

The Prince of Tennis New 3DCG Film Tells Ryoma's Time-Slip Story
The official website for Ryoma! Sinsei Gekijyoban Tennis no Ouji-sama / Ryoma! Rebirth The Prince of Tennis: The Movie, the upcoming all-new 3DCG feature film based on Takeshi Konomi's The Prince of Tennis manga series, has revealed its plot details and three original characters. The franchise's first full 3DCG film tells an original story about what happened in the three months between the first manga The Prince of Tennis and its sequel The New Prince of Tennis.
The film's story takes place in the past in America. Three days after the finals of the National Tournament, the protagonist Ryoma Echizen goes on a tennis training trip to America by himself. When he arrives there, he encounters his classmate Sakuno Ryuzaki, who is also visiting the country on a family trip, is being tangled up with gang members. When the ball Ryoma throws to save her collides with another ball thrown by a mysterious person in a wheelchair, time and space get distorted, and the two are traveled back to the time when Ryoma's father was known as Samurai Nanjiro in America.
Also, three original characters for the film and their voice cast members are announced - Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki Sakata in Gintama) as Wolf, Shunsuke Takeuchi (Alexander Yamato in KING OF PRISM) as Boo, and Ryota Takeuchi (Wakatoshi Ushizima in Haikyu!!) as Foo. The three of them will be making their first appearance in The Prince of Tennis anime franchise and will play members of an American tennis gang clan.
Message from Tomokazu Sugita (in English):
"How should it be done? a done thing doesn't change, but. Is sugita sane? Sane!!"
Message from Shunsuke Takeuchi:
"This is a series with a long history, so I was conscious of staying close to its world view as I joined the voice recording session in order to meet the expectations of the fans. I think the most noteworthy point of this film is the way the characters' moves are drawn in beautiful 3D animation. I hope you will enjoy the unique charm of this film, where you can enjoy the movements and expressions that are different from 2D animation."
Message from Ryota Takeuchi:
"I hope you'll pay attention to the rap performance by Boo and Foo. It was a lot of fun recording by the double 'Takeuchi'! Don't miss the 3DCG tennis scenes that are full of realism! Please come to the theater and listen to the lyric and rhyme performed by us, the tennis gang, and Ryoma. Let's make your heart dance!"

The manga author Takeshi Konomi serves as the executive producer for the first time. He has also written all the songs performed by the characters in the film, including the one for the rap battle between Ryoma and the tennis gang members. Hiroshi Koujina (Hunter x Hunter 2011-2014 TV series) is attached to direct on a screenplay by Takehiko Hata (Lupin The Third: Goodbye Partner).
Ryoma! was originally slated for the early spring of 2020 when the project was announced back in December 2018, now it is officially set to be released in Japan on September 3, 2021.
alright, who’s the little shit who asked for prince hata? i couldn’t focus on the other requests until i got this out. couldn’t stop laughing my butt off. fight me like a man bc i will take this request seriously — mod aya
Prince Hata:
Whatever his significant other wants, they’ll get it. Clothes, food, a stuffed animal from a planet 400 lightyears away? It’ll arrive on their doorstep the next morning as if he simply bought it from a nearby department store.
He keeps a memento of his s/o in his pocket for reassurance when he can’t bring them along. (Which is extremely rare, as he throws a big tantrum at Jii for ‘breaking his love into pieces’.)
Be prepared for a lot of zoo dates, and dangerous ones as well. But his s/o doesn’t need to worry for their own safety, rather for his, as he always ends up being another creature’s lunch.
The Prince only tolerates being called ‘baka-ouji’ by his significant other. After all, they’re the only one who makes it seem endearing. (Except for the times he gets annoying and they say it out of spite.)
He talks in his sleep a lot, so his s/o has to be prepared for that too.
Is extremely clingy, and needs his s/o by his side all the time. They get to experience the sights of different planets, so there’s no problem at all.

Gintama has been my favorite anime of all time since my friends introduced it to me while I was studying abroad. It’s one of those rare shows where every side character is really funny and well developed. I’m not caught up with the new ones because I save the episodes I haven’t seen yet for when I’m sad and it always does the trick. \o/
