As the body positivity movement has gained popularity and was adapted into the mainstream it has also started centering beauty and individuality rather than focusing on actual political change… loving yourself is important but materially it changes nothing. this extremely weak approach to social norms/politics is arguably the only one that can survive once a movement has been popularized though
#hashtag blogging#but it’s been very frustrating seeing how plastic surgery has become normalized and even encouraged but of course everything that helps#upkeep beauty standards will be portrayed as positive#everyone has body dysmorphia nowadays because of this too so its not even good at helping people feel better about themselves it just#disconnects you more and more from your own body and in turn makes you consume more#beauty is a prison and so on and so forth…#as a white person my perspective is limited of course but this is extremely convenient for the upkeeping of white supremacist standards!
