one thing to remember is that like. coop didn't come up with The Ghoul as a name for himself. that's like. just what people called him, especially at the beginning when it was a New Thing for there to be 'ghouls'. and like maybe it was super fucking rare for people and ghouls to do anything together so when he was idk doing whatever, taking bounties, interacting w/humans he was just thee ghoul that was around. maybe he was just that useful. maybe he just didn't care if ppl didn't want ghouls around and came around anyway (this is not bravado, he just has never experienced discrimination and is responding as if that does not exist) to the point he quickly made an impression/name for himself as The Ghoul.

and he just went w/it tbh bc it suited him fine. he wasn't c.ooper h.oward and could or would never be c.ooper h.oward again so long as he was The Ghoul. plus it's another way to distance himself from things he's had to do and absolve himself of any wrong doing. it wasn't him, it was The Ghoul.

and then it just sort of became who he is. he gives an alias not just to avoid revealing his identity (knowing that ppl still Know c.ooper h.oward) but also bc he just isn't c.ooper h.oward anymore anyway. so what's the point using that name? he mat as well be john or luke, or whatever other name he pulls out of his ass at any moment.
