Steam Farming Fest Sale!

Steam's got a farmin' themed sale going on right now, with nearly every PC Story of Seasons and Rune Factory game on sale for 20 bucks or less... but also, it seems the entire Marvelous catalog is on there! So if you wanted to try out the Rune Factory-adjacent dungeon crawler, Silent Hope, that's here too, along with the Marvelous-published non-Bokumono farm sim, Sakuna of Rice and Ruin.

Wow, they even have other games Yasuhiro Wada, creator of the Story of Seasons series, was executive producer on. Like Little King's Story and No More Heroes!

So I played the Fields of Mistria demo and I’d like to say I’m fully prepared for it to take over my life as a new hyperfixation.

I like the art history nerd with the pink hair and the grumpy blacksmith boy :)

The characters and style are incredibly charming. The inspiration taken from other farming sims like Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon is clear but personally I’m really happy to have more additions to the farming sim genre. Yes, the basic formula is the same but it’s the narrative, style, characterization, and personal touch that makes each game a uniquely fun experience while retaining the beloved core elements of gameplay the genre is known for.

I like collecting things and crafting things and getting to know npcs while progressing a story. I like the hint of mysticism with the presence of spiritual entities and the player’s ability to communicate with them. I like the customization of your home and character as you earn skills and gather new functional and aesthetic items. I like that I can build relationships and control the pacing as I please. None of these things are required but it would be silly to pretend I’m not happy to see them again. I can enjoy games like My Time at Portia, Rune Factory, and Sun Haven for what they have in common and for what they don’t. Every new farming sim made gives me another chance to experience the classic gameplay formula I love through a fresh set of eyes. That’s a win for me.

Can’t wait to play more after the full release in the upcoming months!✨

I’d strongly encourage other farm sim enjoyers to give the demo a try as well!

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town (牧場物語 オリーブタウンと希望の大地)

"Inspired by tales of their grandfather's pioneering days, the protagonist decides to pack their bags and leave the hustle and bustle of big city life for the frontier in Olive Town.

When they arrive, they run into Victor, the town's mayor and their grandfather's old friend.  He brings them to the old farm, which has been reclaimed by nature over the years.  Determined to breathe life back into their grandfather's dream and follow in his footsteps, the protagonist rolls up their sleeves and gets to work.

Olive Town—which is just a stone's throw away from the farm—is a port town built on the tip of a peninsula.  It might be a quiet little town, but it is home to a whole host of unique characters.  And while the townsfolk get by well enough in this picturesque seaside locale, a little more tourism never hurt anyone..."

Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam on September 26, Natsume announced.

Pre-orders are now available about Amazon and Natsume.com.

NIS America will also distribute a limited edition of the game for $84.99, which includes a copy of the game, the original soundtrack, a Harvest Moon 25th anniversary Sleepytime Cow plush, an animal lapel pin set, and a collector’s box.

“We are excited to announce the September launch for Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos and to reveal the pre-order and limited edition details for the game,” said Natsume president and CEO Hiro Maekawa, in a press release. “Fans are sure to enjoy all of the fun items that are included in the new Harvest Moon game when they get their hands on it this September!”

The land of Anthos was a peaceful and harmonious land watched over by the Harvest Goddess and the Harvest Sprites, who protected the inhabitants of Anthos from natural disasters such as storms, earthquakes, and the like.
