Madara: Yep, that’s the situation right there! I hope everyone can come together to help Sora-san achieve his wish, somehow ☆

Tetora: No, wait. Even if you say “That’s the situation right there”, I haven’t the foggiest clue what the situation is at all… … 

Chiaki: I'm in the same boat too. However, it’s the duty of a hero to help those in need. If Harukawa wishes to train with me, I’ll be his training partner for however long it takes!

Hiiro: Hmm? What’s a forward downward diagonal punch? Is it a kind of spell or something? 

Tetora: OH! Could it be a command from that fighting game? You know, the famous one!

Kuro: Oh, that one, huh? The one that’s surprisin'ly tricky to execute properly. I see, I get what you’re talkin’ about now. 

Any guy would wanna try imitatin’ the techniques they see in manga and games at least once.

In the beginning, Sora tried asking Shisho and Senpai for advice, but they’re not very knowledgeable about martial arts at all.

Madara: Whoops! Sorry, my bad! You’re absolutely right. Anyway, that’s the reason why I invited you here after seeing you so worked up about it after all.

Tetora: Now, Sora-kun, try loosening your fists a little. Don’t rely solely on your fists to strike—try twisting your hips to inject more power into your punch!

Sora: HiHi~! Punching rhythmically like this makes it feel like Sora’s playing a fun music game! It’s almost as if Sora can see the notes coming in from the front, huh~?

Kuro: Oi, oi. You shouldn’t be losin’ yer focus and thinkin' of other games during warmup, should you?

Tetora: Anyway, for those who are unfamiliar with fighting games, I’ve managed to find a video demonstrating the technique. 

Madara: Oh, that’s helpful. … … Hmm, hmm. I see nowww. It’s that kind of move, huh? 

Madara: Hm~mm. Performing this move leaves you wide open for a counterattack, doesn’t it? It doesn't seem very practical for actual combat at aaall.

Hiiro: Hmm. I agree with Madara-senpai. The part where you jump after landing a fist on the opponent's chin is totally unnecessary. 

If your attack misses, you won’t be able to dodge while in mid-air, and end up exposing your flank and other vulnerable areas. 

Kuro: Oi, oi, you guys. Stop goin’ outta yer way to say things to crush Harukawa’s dream. 

Chiaki: Exactly, you two. Saying stuff like that feels like you’re interrupting a hero’s transformation scene!

Tetora: Moves like these are cooler when they’re hot-blooded and flashy, aren’t they? It’s so not cool to rain on other people’s parades!

Anyway, Sora-kun, could you show us the Finishing Move you’ve got now? We won’t be able to give proper advice until we know what needs fixing, right?

Tetora: Here, I’ve recorded Sora-kun’s move as it is now. Let's take a look at it.

Hiiro: Well, I think your small size is a major reason why you lack power, Sora-kun. The person using this move in the game is very muscular, after all. 

Madara: That’s true, but having a small build doesn’t mean one can’t generate an impact, right? With a little technique, even small things can be made to appear huge, you knowww? 

And Chiaki-san, with his rich experience in hero shows and stunt work, should be able to offer some insights on how to achieve that, riiight ♪

Chiaki: Ahaha… I think the same could be said of you, Mikejima-san. 

However, it’s true that I can give some advice based on my experience to you.

The key idea to remember is—to contract when needed, and to extend when needed. 

For instance, right before jumping, you should fully contract to gather as much power as you possibly can—

—and then unleash all that power at the moment of the jump, extending fully into the punch as you connect with your opponent’s chin. 

If you do that, you’ll have an impressively flashy uppercut! 

Sora: Hm~mm? Um… … So, contracting fully before extending—?  

Tetora: Ahaha. Morisawa-senpai just dumped a bunch of unexpected theory on you, huh. It’s detailed, but then, it might be hard to understand this advice just by listening. 

Kuro: In that case, why don’t I demonstrate what that means for ya? Pay close attention, Harukawa—

Tetora: WOW! As expected of you, Taishou! That was incredibly powerful just now!

Sora: Yes! It felt like the character from the game was right in front of our eyes!

You Deserve It! Break Time! Event Story Summary

TL;DR: MORE MORE JUMP! continues to gain followers on their streams. Haruka wonders if their segments are growing stale and decides to brainstorm some new ones.

Shizuku begins to worry about Haruka's well-being. She doesn't think Haruka is taking enough time off to care for herself. Though Haruka tries to reassure her that she's fine, Shizuku's not convinced. She believes the idol persona Haruka carries must be hard to keep up.

With a bit of help from Airi, Shizuku proposes that they all go hang out on their day off together, forcing Haruka to take a break. However, despite their intentions, she keeps using their adventures to come up with new stream ideas. Every idea Shizuku tries to get Haruka to relax ends up backfiring.

Minori and Airi go into a crowded shop together, leaving Haruka and Shizuku alone. Haruka asks what's bothering Shizuku, who reveals her concerns about Haruka. Haruka realizes the things she usually does to relax, like training and brainstorming, aren't really relaxing. Shizuku apologizes for assuming, but insists on helping her properly take a break.

Minori and Airi exit the shop with some matching penguin keychains for the group, reminding Haruka of a nearby cafe themed entirely around penguins. She agrees to split a parfait with the group despite the sugar.

Chapter 1: MORE MORE JUMP! finishes another successful livestream. Though they've been fun, Haruka begins to wonder if their streams are growing stale. The group decides to come up with ideas for new segments.

Right before the group splits up to head home, a fan approaches Haruka. They're impressed she remembered them from a past meet and greet. Minori, Airi, and Shizuku are impressed by the professionalism Haruka displayed in the conversation.

Haruka finishes personal training at home fairly late. She begins working on homework and show ideas immediately after, though.

Chapter 2: MORE MORE JUMP!'s streams continue to gain traction as they add new segments. They're happy Haruka came up with such a good one, but worry she might be overdoing herself. Minori and Airi want to go get crepes to celebrate, but Haruka decides to go home and work out some new ideas.

MORE MORE JUMP! head to the SEKAI for practice the next day. They're surprised to find a show from the newest member of the SEKAI- MEIKO. She casually introduces herself to the four and asks to help them with their stream ideas.

Chapter 3: Airi jokes about a cooking segment idea. Haruka's glad everyone's having fun. Shizuku notices her yawn and kindly asks her to take a break. Haruka reassures her that she'll get proper rest tonight.

MEIKO runs over to join the conversation, explaining all the wonderful things she's heard about Haruka but also her worries about Haruka's own well-being. Haruka explains that her practice regimine is something she's done ever since ASRUN, so shes used to it, but promises to take time for herself. Shizuku's still mildly concerned.

Chapter 4: Shizuku remembers back to her debut as Cheerful*Day's lead. Though she knew the persona she presented wasn't her true self, she wanted to make her fans happy. Haruka had come to talk to her when they appeared on a show together. Even though Shizuku didn't think so, Haruka that she was amazing and a clear hard worker. Shizuku admires Haruka's strength and love of idols.

Even then, Shizuku thought Haruka was the perfect idol. Now, though, she wonders if Haruka's having a hard time keeping that persona up.

Chapter 5: Airi notices something bothering Shizuku and asks to eat lunch together. Though she understands Shizuku's fears for Haruka, Airi's sure Haruka will be fine. Airi suggests trying to go out and do something fun together on their day off.

Shizuku proposes the idea after practice that day. Minori and Airi are both excited, and Haruka agrees.

Chapter 6: The first stop on their day off was a trip to karaoke. They all had fun, though Minori did go back to fan-mode after seeing the idols sing. Next, Shizuku proposes going to a low-sugar cafe. Haruka immediately wonders if they could do segments promoting places like that. Shizuku's worried that Haruka still can't let go, even on her day off.

Shizuku tried to lead them to the cafe, but got lost. Haruka took them to a different cafe instead. Shizuku tried ordering a relaxing tea set to share with Haruka, but accidentally got too much. The rest of the group pitched in to help finish it off.

They went to make scented candles next. Shizuku was happy Haruka seemed to be having fun, but she accidentally added too much fragrance in her distraction and ruined it. Shizuku feels bad that her plan to help Haruka relax completely backfired.

Chapter 7: Shizuku doesn't want to give up on the day quite yet. She takes the group on a walk. Airi realizes Haruka's just trying to find new stream ideas. Minori and Airi head into a crowded shop while Haruka and Shizuku stay outside.

Haruka asks if there's something bothering Shizuku. She reveals her worries over Haruka's well-being and the true intention behind the outing. Though Haruka's grateful, she reassures Shizuku that she's just fine.

She does realize that she might be pushing herself too hard on accident, since her usual relaxation techniques might not be true rest. Shizuku also realizes none of it felt like work to Haruka because she truly loves what she does. Shizuku apologizes for her assumptions, but still wants Haruka to rely on them more. She offers to do something together where Haruka can enjoy herself.

Chapter 8: Airi and Minori walk out of the store and hand out the matching penguin keychain set they got. Haruka asks if the others would accompany her somewhere quick. She takes them to a penguin-themed cafe she'd been wanting to go to. Minori wants to share an parfait, and though Airi tries warning her Haruka doesn't eat sugar, Haruka agrees. She thinks the penguin on top is super cute.

I don't understand why everyone is cheering, because to me it's clear that Futa is at least beginning to see medical treatment as inadequate, if not starting to reject it. I got the impression that he at least feels that medicine isn't enough. And that's horrible because that probably means he is getting more indoctrinated by Amane, not only that, but I'm getting the feeling he's developing a savior complex(? all over again. Just like when he thought that harassing people online made him some kind of hero, the only person capable enough of saving others. His weapon now is whatever ideals he's clinging to, to keep himself sane rather than doxxing and harassing, this time.

I'm happy about the 0306 interaction but if Futa gets indoctrinated it's not just him who's in danger of the cult's ways. It's Mahiru too, because he seems to be getting close to her. It's Haruka too because he seems worried about him and I think Futa is the most likely to save him from, you know. I used to think that Futa probably isn't believing what Amane is telling him 100% and while I still believe that, I still believe that Futa is developing his own ideals from a basis (a corrupt one...) I feel that the info he is being fed is enough to make him... not Futa. It's worrying.

I feel so bad for both him and Amane... the girl is feeling like shit herself because of the guilty verdict and yet she's trying to help Futa with the only thing she knows, her religion. And Futa is at his breaking point, extremely vulnerable, he was already not on super very good terms with any of the other prisoners before except Haruka, and now with Haruka's situation he probably feels that Amane is the only one whom he can cling to for any appreciation and reassurance. It's so heartbreaking and unfair for the both of them

Mod Haruka here for once, not with a new chapter (sorry), but to provide you with ŹOOĻ trivia while Nanase takes care of his health.

Anyway, did you know Utsugi-san's name represents a japanese zodiac sign just like the names of ŹOOĻ's members? No? Well, you should. It's not as obvious as with the others (who directly have the kanji for a zodiac animal in their name), but here's how it works:

Utsugi-san's surname is written as 宇都木, which is... a really normal spelling for a surname, so we won't be getting into those kanji. What's important is that "utsugi" is not only a name but also the name of a flower (spelled 空木, or more rarely 卯木). Another name for that flower is "u no hana" (spelled 卯の花), or "rabbit's flower" in english. And because it's spelled with the kanji for rabbit in the sense of the japanese zodiac sign (卯) Utsugi-san's name, with a few extra steps, also follows ŹOOĻ's naming conventions.

(There's more you can read into it with that symbolism, but that gets on conspiracy level so I'll leave you alone with that. Just one more fun fact: Minami, who was the most suspicious of Utsugi-san at first, also happens to say he dislikes rabbits. lol)

How did you get Haruka’s idol outfit to shine Like That? I can almost feel it under my fingertips and hear the rustling. I know you posted that a long time ago (in Internet time) but its stayed with me.

It was with the love I hold for my beloved daughter 💖

But hee hee some notes on the illust :^) I may have over explained it lol

My main source of reference was from this collection of photographs by kemmiethecat on instagram!

I wanted this dress to be reminiscent of her outfit for So Much More and I combined it with 80s (?) aesthetics to match the aesthetic of film photography. I used the photographs to get an idea of how the sleeves, bodice, and gloves would fit on her. Even though her gown would be white, I wanted to add interest to it and I figured the best way to color and shade it while retaining the look of a white wedding gown was to make the fabric look iridescent/pearlescent. I kinda winged it on the color choices and placement, though…

I chose a pink similar to the background (bc I was going for a teen magazine concept as well and the bright pink made her and the gown stand out), a purple-ish blue for the shadows, and some yellows to transition into the bright whites because I thought the combination would work the best. It’s mostly a vibes-based decision for me, but if we wanted to be technical about it, it’s bc of color theory!

I followed how the values of the fabric from the references and lightly mapped out where the colors would be placed, keeping in mind how it’d be affected by what was closest to it. Admittedly, I kinda wanna go back and make the colors more consistent so that fabric-fabric -> blue, skin-fabric-> pink, highlights from the “flash”-> yellows and whites. But it is what it is! After that, I just blended to what suited the fabric while using the references.

I wanted the gloves to stand out since it’s framing Haruka’s face and considering it’s satin, it’d shine and react more with light and color as opposed to her dress, which is more matte. Because of that, the gloves ended up having more shifts in color compared to the dress and the instances of the bright white appearing front and center combined with the highlights of Haruka’s face all harmonized to give off the feeling of each fabric. The same goes with her veil and the ruffles of her dress, where I added some texture to give off the look of netting you’d see in tulle.

Generally, whenever I make illustrations where the outfit is an important aspect of it, I put extra care into how it’s rendered and constructed. Partly because it tends to be the focal point, but also because I liked watching Project Runway and Say Yes To The Dress in the past, so I have some interest in fashion because of that and it reflects in my art from time to time lol.

I also like to add that while I did have references, I didn’t follow each fold precisely. To me, it’s impossible and not worth copying how the fabric creases and folds exactly so long as I get the general flow of it, like where the creases focus on, how it glides, etc. Same with the color! My personal outlook on using references is that it’s a general outline, not a step by step instruction, if that makes any sense, lol!

My interest in fashion makes me wanna make sure to depict fabrics as best as I can, especially when it’s the focus of the illustration.

I use references when I can, but I don’t stress about it being a perfect match, I focus on it being as best it can to me

It’s also a result of me figuring out what I like and wanna do bc sometimes reality doesn’t look as good and we have to take artistic liberty sometimes! There isn’t a fabric that exists like this in the real world, and the closest are iridescent organza or sequins. Usually there’s green present in it, but I didn’t use it here bc I didn’t feel like it since I usually don’t use greens in my art unless I have to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (Sorry, lovers of the color green!!)

I hope that helps? I feel like I definitely overexplained some aspects, but teehee idk I just like talking about color even tho I forgor some of the terms for it LMFAOOO I just think colors are pretty, same with clothes, and my beloved daughter, Haruka ^_^💖

Haruka's not expecting any visitors - for the last few days ( how long has it been? ) the only person he's really seen is Shidou, who comes by to change the bandages on his head and make sure he hasn't managed to get loose and try something stupid again - he's been restrained to his bed when unsupervised, for the time being, so that he can't hurt himself again. It's infuriating, really - he needed to keep his promise to Muu. He needed to protect her - why can't they just let him finish the job? He hasn't seen her since, and he can only imagine how disappointed in him she is that he hadn't been able to change her verdict... Useless. Mahiru has stopped by a handful of times too; he enjoys her visits more - she says sweet things to him, sometimes even pets his hair, careful not to touch the wound - but it's not often. After all, she needs to spend more time taking care of herself, after what happened with Kotoko.

To say the least, when the cell door creaks open and his eyes snap to see who'd entered, Fuuta is not the person he expects to see. It's not like they were on bad terms or anything - Fuuta had been shockingly kind to him at times, actually. But the last few times they'd spoke, he had been saying odd things, speaking of some kind of salvation... To be honest, he really didn't know what to expect from him anymore. "Fuuta-kun..." He gives a weary half-smile, a joyless laugh escaping his throat despite himself. "You - you were right, heheh... This didn't s-save me, after all."

Singing in Sync Event Story Summary

TL;DR: Vivid BAD SQUAD participate in their first battle event. Though Kohane is nervous, they do well up until the end, when the noise of the crowd caused Kohane to fall out of sync and An failed to cover for her. Kohane blames herself for her lack of experience, while An, through Akito's questioning, realizes she hasn't been treating Kohane as an equal member of the team. An tries to apologize, but Kohane leaves before she can get her point across.

An runs into Haruka on her way home, who prompts her to talk to Kohane again. She'd learned the value of being straightforward with teammates after her experience in ASRUN. The next day, Kohane talks to Minori, who has a similar struggle with feeling like dead weight in a more experienced group. Still, she tells Kohane that there will always be a better tomorrow and to keep working at it. Kohane also finds Toya in the SEKAI, who finds that the difference between pros and amateurs just boils down to experience.

That evening before practice, An finally gets the chance to properly explain her feelings to Kohane. Kohane accepts the apology and shares her own feelings of anxiety. Now on equal footing, the team begins to plan their next events.

Chapter 1: Vivid BAD SQUAD head to SEKAI to discuss what events they should do in the future, now that they're a team. There are two types of events on Vivid Street: invitationals, which are more relaxed, and battles, which are competitive. Akito suggests doing STAY GOLD, since a group that had performed at RAD WEEKEND had done it in the past. MEIKO notices Kohane's anxiety over the new battle format, but An is confident in her ability.

The team practices one more time before the event the next day. An thinks they all sound great, and even if Kohane falls behind, she'll be there to bring her back up. Akito complains about not being offered the same grace.

Chapter 2: Many people in the crowd recognize both the Vivids and BAD DOGS, including Kohane. EVER performs first, a fan-favorite to win the battle event. Vivid BAD SQUAD follows. Though they have a fantastic start, Kohane begins to slip from the noise of the crowd. She misses her queue, and with An trying to cover, the performance falls apart.

Chapter 3: An apologizes for not being able to cover for Kohane. Toya and Kohane both also try taking the blame. When Kohane leaves to go get drinks, An feels bad that she couldn't protect her. When Akito questions her about the statement, he points out that the fact she feels she needs to do that means An doesn't see Kohane as a member of the team yet. An realizes she needs to apologize to Kohane.

Chapter 4: Kohane feels bad for having to rely on An so much. An runs out to try and apologize to Kohane, but she doesn't manage to say what she means before Kohane heads back into the livehouse. EVER ended up winning the event. Noticing something on An's mind, Akito delays their debrief until the next day. Kohane leaves before An can stop and talk to her.

On the way home, An runs into Haruka. She immediately notices An down and offers to help.

Chapter 5: An feels angry at herself for how she's treated Kohane. Haruka says she needs to have a heart-to-heart with Kohane- she's learned that the hard way with Mai and ASRUN. An thanks Haruka for the help and the two part ways.

An starts setting up Weekend Garage before her dad arrives. While ruminating on Kohane, she realizes she liked being relied on like that, and that she's not letting her partner grow. In order to be worthy of standing by her side, An needs to tell her how she feels.

Chapter 6: Kohane still feels bad about the event at school. Minori asks to eat lunch together and hear about what has Kohane down. Minori explains how she also feels like she's dragging her group down with her inexperience, but tomorrow will always be a better day and that it's okay to rely on those more experienced than you.

Meanwhile at Kamikou, Toya gets lost in thought about how shaken An seemed. Akito's not worried, because he knows she can get through this.

Chapter 7: Kohane goes to SEKAI to ask MEIKO for advice. Though MEIKO is flattered Kohane came to her for help, she thinks this is a question better asked her teammates. Coincidentally, Toya just arrived in SEKAI to grab some coffee. Toya says that the biggest difference between pros and amateurs is simply experience: no amount of technical skill can mask unfamiliarity with crowds. He also thinks she needs to talk to An. Kohane thanks him for the advice.

Chapter 8: Meanwhile, An and Akito meet up at Weekend Garage early for practice. An thanks Akito for opening her eyes to the situation, though Akito doesn't think it meant much. Kohane and Toya arrive soon after. An finally gets her chance to apologize to Kohane and asks if they can still sing together. Kohane accepts the apology and knows she still has a lot of room to grow, but she knows she'll get there eventually. The two hug it out.

They head to SEKAI after to discuss more events. They decide to try an outdoor competition to switch things up. MEIKO asks if Rin and Len can join in on the practice sessions, too. An asks if Kohane would cover for her if she messes up, and MEIKO leaves the team be with pride.
