Scheduling, planning for and actually making time to take family pictures can feel like an overwhelming task. Recognizing that our lives and schedules are complete chaos, I love getting our family pictures taken in October. This allows me time to plan our outfits, coordinate with the photographer (in our case two, because getting four kids to cooperate is not an easy task) and pray that no one is sick. We have been taking our family pictures annually during the same month for years and it’s something that I treasure. Self-employment, homeschooling and raising four kids can sometimes feel like a never-ending list of things to do, thus making time for family portraits allows me to pause and be still. This stillness cultivates a spirit of thankfulness and contentment. Life is stressful, life is messy but as these pictures show (beautifully captured by Rebecca Wilhite Photography), we are truly blessed and we have so much fun. In the midst of the busy, we choose joy and contentment daily. We also have fun and laugh a heck of a lot. I urge you to pause today and recall that which makes you smile and laugh until you almost pee your pants. For me, this is my family. The dedication, love and commitment that we have for each other keeps me going. We also use our family portrait session to capture the kids homeschool pictures.
