"We are in a situation that is beyond morality." — @cataclysmus
@cataclysmus
"Beyond mor-", Yuri stopped. The look he had when he turned to Alexei held an anger in his eyes that he wasn't ready to talk about to anyone else. Until they'd made completely sure everything was settled and that the Adephagos was truly gone, he was trying to push his aggravation toward Alexei out of the way. There were things to sort out still, and that would only grow when the general populace found out Alexei was still alive. Right now though Yuri had been holding back, and Alexei was making it... difficult.
Tumblr media
"And who created this situation in the first place?" The very thing Duke was trying to avoid, and Alexei had brought it back into the open. Even if Yuri didn't agree with Duke's current method of trying to eliminate it, he could still understand how annoying it must have been all this time trying to stop humans from risking it coming back. Now that it had, they were at odds with the very man who had been assisting them over and over since this all started.
He got it. He understood. He knew Alexei was going through recognizing his actions had led to this. But the way the former Commandant seemed to sometimes say things that indicated they needed to play nice trapped a pit of fire in Yuri's stomach. For Raven's sake he was doing his damndest not to kill Alexei or turn him in, but trying to force away lingering feelings was still difficult. Right now, impossible, even.
For the time being he had set aside any grudges to focus on the Adephagos, but seeing Alexei from time to time still stung. Originally they had planned to have the man arrested and put on trial, and Yuri hadn't intended to kill him... but the core had fallen and did nearly kill him and would have if Raven had not stepped in. Frankly, Yuri couldn't say a convenient accident like that would have truly bothered him.
"I don't wanna hear this morality nonsense. For you it's just a convenient excuse right now. I'm not turning you in out of respect for a friend of mine, because I would be in the same boat as he is if someone I knew for some ten years that I cared about turned out like you after I'd known the real them. That doesn't mean I'm setting up a pity party for you or handwaving all the destruction you caused that wasn't related to that thing in the sky."
So much had been planned and caused that at this point, the Adephagos was nearly a footnote in Alexei's history. The man had even managed to plan ahead well enough to take out the top heads of the guild cities and cause serious chaos and destruction to the guilds. Natz was a grown man and could protect his city just fine now, but Harry wasn't ready for that role.
Aside from just the guilds, in some way one could even suggest Alexei's destruction had been on a similar scale as the Adephagos itself, simply in a societal manner. His plans had affected people around the world. He was a smart man - one of the most intelligent Yuri could say he'd ever known. There was not a question in his mind that Alexei's morality didn't matter one bit until the truth of his actions was about to literally end all life on the planet.
He sure didn't care about morality when the Lower Quarter was nearly left behind to be decimated. He sure didn't care about morality when he threatened Ioder's life. When he'd tossed aside all the people who believed in and trusted him. When he'd ruined the knights' reputation further and further. When Yuri had hoped he would be the one to fix things within Zaphias because Flynn believed so much in the man, only to have to come to terms with the fact that Alexei was the one who allowed all of it and even fueled some of it for his own purposes.
"It's not about morality that got Don and Belius killed, right? Got Harry wrapped up in a huge mess that affected the Union's standing? Made the empire one of the most distrusted factions of the entire world instead of simply disliked throughout your time as Commandant? Not about the people who suffered at Ragou and Cumore's hands, some of who were killed along the way? You didn't have to see it happen so it was easy, right? You didn't have to see the bones of children in Ragou's mansion, right? No, it's only about morality now that your legacy is unleashing this thing and making people clean up after your mess. If you want that pity party, ask Raven to set it up for you."

Heyo!! It's super cool to find a selfshipper who ships with Raven/Schwann so 3, 9 and 15 for your TOV s/i please!! :D
( @pixelselfships )
Aw, thank you! ^3^ I love all my men, but Raven is my special sweetheart, so you dont know how happy that makes me feel~
3. how do the other characters generally feel about your self insert?
Overall, people consider her a kind soul and generally likable. The Vesperia group see her as a sort of doting mom friend after the events I'd the game, especially Karol, whose basically all but legally adopted. Don Whitehorse found her to be a quiet pushover at first, holding back a fiery spirit. He really helped her come out of her shell and felt at least a little proud of her.
As for Alexei, there were mixed feelings. He saw her as sort of extended family, her household being close to him and his work, and felt in part that he needed to help protect her after the loss of her parents. But he also ended up finding her a pain and annoyance as she became disobedient and more of a hindrance than a help.
Oh, and I can't forget to mention LeBlanc and the "Schwann Fan Club", as i like to call them ^^. They adore their 'Lady Evelyn' and how loyal and loving she is to their brave Captain. They would do just about anything for her.
9. who are your self insert’s closest friends?
I mean, other than Raven (what can I say? Marry your best friend), she's very close with Karol, the mother and son bond, and Estelle and Judy. With Judith the two bond a lot over their caretaking roles with the rest (and have womanly conversations. The old man blushes at just the thought~). And with Estelle, the two are close minded in some ways and history. Both were protected nobility who found themselves out in the world, want to do good, be kind, and heal others, and learned to live for themselves a bit more.
She would also have considered Don Whitehorse a friend of sorts, and his grandson Harry. She owed a lot to him and his help, and the two would get into quite the banter some days.
15. how does your self insert play a role in the plot of the story? do they help directly defeat the villain, support the heroes, etc.?
I'll try (and fail) to keep this short. Obviously, spoilers XD For background, since before the beginning of the game, Evelyn lived in Dahngrest and helped the Don in exchange for room and board. She met and saw the Vesperia crew a few times by then, they know she had a sort of friendship with Raven (side quest, anyone?) But she had actually known Raven/Schwann for a little over a year now (Schwann first, then Raven).
Some days after Don Whitehorse died, and Raven had rather solemnly told her to go home, and she wouldnt be seeing 'Raven' again because that mission was over, she went to Heliord. Previously (end of act 1), when Alexei saw Evelyn at Dahngrest he instructed her to go to the knights headquarters when she was 'done playing'. So she went there, and Alexei happily welcomed her back. He was less happy though as she began to push for answers. But what would she do if he told her his plans? Nothing, he assumed. Or perhaps she would help him in the future.
So Alexei gave her his 'evil monologue' about his plans for the empire, and blastia, and Estelle, and told her to stay put and behave. He left her under the watch of guards, and left to go get Estelle because Schwann should have been taking her to the rendezvous point in the near future.
Of course, Evelyn wasn't going to sit still. A year ago she would have, but not anymore. Alexei chosing LeBlanc and crew to guard her closely, failed. She fled to the capitol with many of Alexei's notes and plans in hand, and demanded to see the council and prince Ioder because she had proof that Alexei was committing treason.
Long story short, It was thanks to her that Flynn went after Alexei under those suspicions, and she also convinced LeBlanc and crew to go follow for concern for Schwann, even though they were still posted to guard her (since now with her accusing Alexei of treason she may have been in more danger). And thank goodness they got to him in time.
-
Well, I hope I didnt ramble too much and that everything made sense! I'm planning on writing out an overview of her entire story/character arc really soon. I hope you'll read that when I start posting it!

What if scenario: If the world of Vesperia was hit with "The Blip", which characters do you see getting blipped and which ones surviving? And if they survive then what would they be like in those 5 years?
The Blip... that's the Avengers thing, right? When 50% of the population turned to dust? I have not kept up with the MCU in quite a while so my understanding of the specifics of the scenario is limited to pop culture osmosis so this may not be MCU canon compliant, but let's see....
First, Flynn should be poofed. So many people rely on him and look to him to change the world and lead the empire to prosperity, so I think it would be interesting if he suddenly vanished and people like Sodia suddenly had to face the future without him to lead the way. When he eventually comes back 5 years later, I think Flynn would either be relieved to suddenly find the world no longer relies on him as much and he's not under quite as much pressure, or else suddenly not know what to do with himself when it seems that the world has adjusted and moved on and no longer needs him.
As unlucky as Yuri is, I think he should not disappear, but that would really be just his luck. The one time in life fate works well for him, and it leaves him alone and lost and confused.
Generally, because I love to torment people, the characters who should stay should be the ones who already have a lot of angst and bad luck and will be the most fucked up by it. So, among the party, Flynn, Estelle, and Karol vanish. Yuri, Raven, Rita, and Judith are left to figure out what to do next. Rita's abandonment issues intensify, Judith starts to feel like making connections was a mistake so maybe she should go back to just flying around aimlessly and not caring about anything. (Unless Ba'ul also disappears? Does the Blip affect non-humans?)
Raven has reached a point of like, "You know how life is... this might as well happen to me." He's not ok. Definitely feeling that he should have disappeared instead of.... anyone else, really.
We could really cause turmoil by having Harry and Ioder also disappear, throwing the empire and the guilds into total disarray as they try to figure out who's in charge. The position was so unstable at the end of the game - they'd just barely resolved a years-long succession crisis, and the loss of the Don nearly through the Union into chaos, and they were trying to hold things together with losing blastia, that I think this might push things over the edge.
What if this happens not long after the game ends, and people wonder if the Blip is a result of whatever they did to get rid of blastia? That sucked up and disappeared all blastia, so maybe people got caught in it too, somehow? Suddenly the party, and every political leader who backed the move is being blamed for thousands of deaths. Not only that, the Yuri and the others have to wonder if that is true - did they accidentally kill their friends?
With power vacuums in both the Union and the Empire, I don't think the next five years are going to go well.

Yuri wasn't particularly bothered by Flynn's habits in this case, but he did want him to learn to accept hospitality without feeling like he needed to help in some way. Sometimes it was fine to just accept another person's kindness. He understood it being difficult, given that it was partly Yuri's place now and it was second nature for Flynn to do these things when they were teens, but even then, Yuri would've liked if he left things to others more often.
Thankfully Repede was on the same page as Yuri. It wasn't just a habit for Flynn anymore. He was the commandant now, and that left him with a busy schedule. By the time he got to sit down, he really should be resting. Sometimes Yuri genuinely wondered if Flynn had ever worked himself right to passing out. It wasn't like he was there to prevent it, and he doubted many of the knights, if any, would be able to truly find ways to get him to ease up. They just didn't know him well enough to work something out.
"Oh, you can put your things in my room. Take the bed while you're here too. I've couch surfed enough that it's pretty much second nature to be sleeping on one. Also, I'm denying you arguments on that." He wasn't really thinking about it and the words fell from his mouth as easily as any casual conversation. His mind was halved from conversing while cleaning, giving less thought to the words that left him naturally. He continued by pointing in the direction of his room. "Thataway."
Hospitality was one thing, but Flynn didn't need hand holding to get to his room, much less for Yuri to walk to him or hold the door open for him. That kind of thing felt... reserved for more formal situations. If it had been someone he knew less well, sure... but this was Flynn. That kind of formality was borderline if not actually impossible. It wasn't actually intended - it was just difficult to think formally toward him when he never had in his life. That was how it would've been when they were growing up and it wasn't changing now. It was way too late for that.
"As for the studying, yeah, it's not easy trying to do guild work and find time to actually sit down and help him, but... it's better than never doing it." He slid a few stray papers into a drawer and slid the drawer shut. "Sometimes Raven and Judith help him with it when I'm not around. You'd think the people here who willingly left the old Empire out of a dislike for its structure would give free education to the poor and to orphans, but it's the same here as anywhere."
More than likely Ioder was doing his best to fix that in the capital, but that would take time. They needed to acquire necessities for it, hire people, and possibly even create buildings for it. It was going to be a process if they wanted to do it properly instead of just having kids sitting on the ground outside. That kind of thing should have been unacceptable in a civilized society, and hopefully it would be in Ioder's.
That of course would do nothing for the people here, but the Empire getting a leg up on them in anything would probably push them to do better. Whether it could be considered an unhealthy rivalry or not, if it pushed them to do better for their people, the why didn't matter quite so much. If Yuri could push to get Harry to fix the education system here too, that wouldn't be so bad. Less competition based, more formal and official.
"Anyway, feel free to get changed and settle in. Food will be ready soon so I'm gonna help Karol set the table and finish up the stew. I'll probably walk Repede after that, so you can tag along if you want. Usually I'm in for the night after that if you'd rather hang around with Karol while we're out."
Sure enough, as soon as Flynn had been turned down with his offer with the cooking, it seemed like the man had already turned toward the mess in the house with the intent to clean up a little bit. In a way, he hadn’t even realized he was doing it. A lot of the time, he shoves himself into a task without a second thought and he never really stopped working until he was either distracted from his task (Which was hard to do, honestly) or until he was too tired to do anymore.
As he moved to grab onto some stray papers laying on a counter, hoping to tidy him up, Yuri’s words of turning off “Work Mode” caught his attention as he realized what he was doing. To double down on that, Repede walked over to stand by Flynn’s side and the man watched as his dog began to try and nudge the papers out of Flynn’s hands with his nose.
“Right, sorry… I suppose this is how my brain settles?” Flynn tries to find an excuse for himself as he straightens the papers out and puts them to the side for now. “I suppose even after all these years, my brain can’t help but fall back into old habits from when we lived together, Yuri.”
Because that, Flynn realizes, was the last time he felt like he was at home. So now, Flynn never really knew what to do when staying at someone else’s place. All he could really do was try and repay them for their hospitality but he knew as well as anyone that Yuri, Karol and Repede didn’t care about stuff like that. The whole thing made him feel a little restless.
Repede let out a soft whine beside him, ear twitching curiously and Flynn wondered if the pup had picked up on the anxious feeling rising in his chest. As he reaches over to scratch behind Repede’s ears, he quietly watches as Yuri cleans up a little before his attention is caught by the topic of Karol’s education.
Flynn was always rather curious about where Karol stood education wise. From his understanding, Karol had been jumping from guild to guild for a good majority of his life as a guilds man and Flynn always wondered if any of those guilds ever gave him a decent education. After all, Flynn wasn’t very familiar with how any of the guild stuff worked. He was certain there were schools but it definitely didn’t seem like going was a requirement.
That was something that Flynn was hoping to change, back in Zaphias. He wanted to help create an education system, starting in the capital and soon, branching it to other villages. In the Lower Quarter, a proper education was… well… rather unheard of. It wasn’t until his mother offered to teach the citizens how to read and write that people began to pursue more knowledge. Even after his mother had passed, he had still kept to his studies as best as he could and he was incredibly thankful to Estellise for offering to help him in any areas that he had been lacking in a few years later.
His mother… she really did leave behind a long list of things she never got to complete, didn’t she…?
Instead of thinking of how his mother had left him to fend for himself (which was a battle he fought every single day of his life), he instead tried to focus on the warm feeling that slowly spread through his chest at the thought that Yuri also seemed to care about the education of others as well. That he cared enough to make sure Karol also got to learn the basics needed, maybe even more.
“You’ve been helping Karol study?” Flynn couldn’t help but move to pick up one of the books, flipping through it to get a simple idea of what Yuri was teaching Karol at this moment. A smile stretches across his face as a feeling of pride hits him because of course Yuri was helping Karol. That’s just the sort of person Yuri was. As usual, Flynn admired him deeply for that. “I’m sure that can’t be easy but I hope you both continue to do your best.”
As he puts the book down, Repede gives a tiny huff as he headbutts Flynn’s arm again, as if to get him back on track. “Oh, right– Sorry.” Flynn chuckles as he looks back to his belongings. “Where will I be staying? Is there anywhere in particular where I should put my belongings? And my armor as well… I really should change into something more comfortable.”

ToV Rarepair Drabble - Scars
One of the oneshot prompts I've seen lately was about scars. And I've been wanting to write Harry x Ioder again ever since @nagia36 brought up one of my old drabbles...Harry doesn't really get the attention he deserves so I wrote this to make it up to him.
Warning for suggestive themes.
Scars
Harry’s body held scars.
The first was across the bridge of his nose and honestly…he couldn’t remember how it happened. Yeager had told him once it was from crying so much while he was a baby that the tears created the cut turned scar as they fell. This had prompted further crying from the very young blonde.
His grandfather later pat him on the head (and whacked Yeager upside his) and proceeded to tell him even he did not know how Harry got it. When Garry's family was driven out of their hometown, he’d reunited with Harry and his mother and the mark had already marred his unconscious face. His mother had had a mental breakdown and disappeared one night, taking the secret with her. With his memories of that day unknown and lost to him, Harry eventually came to simply accept the scar as one of the earliest parts of himself. It was his “favorite” if he had to pick one.
There were also scars that were not his favorite. They adorned his back, parts of his chest and even the side of his neck. These were from skirmishes, battles and attacks on his life. The ones on his chest weren’t visible with his clothes on, even with his shirt barely covering his torso. The scar on his neck was small, from a younger part of his life when someone had foolishly tried to take him hostage. Their plan would have worked, had they not nicked Harry in the neck and set the guilds into frenzy. It was one of the few times he had ever seen his grandfather look truly angry, “seeing red” is what he’d later come to recognize it as.
Since that day no one has tried to kidnap or capture the young man. That incident was probably why….
It could also be from the size Harry had grown during his years of rebuilding himself as well...but he liked to think the terrors of Altosk had spooked his assailants away.
One of the scars on his back was up by his shoulder, where the tusk of a large monster had snagged him from behind and pinned him to the ground. Harry winces even now just thinking about that particular instance.
The oddest scar of all – In Harry’s opinion anyway – was on his ankle. A blood-thirsty group of bandits had attempted – very poorly – to attack the still inexperienced Don on his trip through the desert. One of the bandits speared him in the ankle with a harpoon gun, the retraction dragged Harry several feet before Raven and the other members of Altosk dispatched the group. When the weather gets cold, he can feel the irritation in his foot from the long scarred over wound. It was his “least favorite” if he had to pick.
Still, the young Don of 23 years took pride in his scars. They were symbols depicting an exciting (and often dangerous) life, proof that through all he had endured, he was strong. And more importantly, he was still here. He'd been stabbed in the back, attacked head on, pulled against his will, and yet, he was still standing tall.
Harry had never been particularly close with death; none of the wounds engraved on his body were life-threatening. If anything, people would say he had Lady Luck on his side. He'd scoff at that, being a man who believed in carving his own path and not fate…
Still...
That didn’t mean he was itching to meet his maker enough to test it. As reckless as he could be he had no desire to push the limits of his life. It was something precious that had been fought for and sacrificed his whole life. And through those scars, he knew they were signs that represented those who had lost their life for him…It meant their sacrifice was not in vain. He would continue to fight. No matter what it took.
It was his relentless and unwavering ability to never back down that made Ioder worry – he knew that.
The first time they had made love he’d hesitated to show himself to the other blonde. Harry wondered if the young Emperor would find him grotesque with his marred skin, a dark contrast to Ioder’s pale perfection. But Ioder said nothing about them, even kissed the one across his collarbone.
Harry didn’t want to admit it, but the tender intimacy made his pulse quicken and his body waver slightly.
Who knew a person’s bitter scars could elicit such a sweet reaction? Certainly not Harry. He didn’t think his body could ever be so sensitive to another’s touch, especially with his scars.
It was yet another surprise that kept Harry wrapped around the Emperor’s finger – contrary to everyone’s opinion of Ioder being swept away by Harry. It was another surprise and a secret Harry wanted to keep to himself.
But Ioder had ways of figuring him out.
And he was always so damn sneaky about it too...
The day was innocent enough (as always), Ioder was signing off paperwork at his desk and Harry was lying on the nearby couch. He'd come unannounced so Ioder had insisted Harry be patient and wait for him to finish. It was fairly hot outside, so even with the window open, save for the occasional breeze, it was almost unbearable.
Except Ioder appeared perfectly fine.
And for some reason, that irritated Harry. The Emperor wore considerably more when it came to his attire and not only that, the material was bulkier as well.
“Aren’t you hot?!” Harry cried out, unable to take the heat of the room any longer. Just looking at Ioder made him sweat. The sudden sound of Harry’s voice must have startled Ioder, because he had blinked several times in shocked confusion.
“Ah forget it, you’re not even paying attention are you…” Harry accused, knowing Ioder had a way of tuning everything out once ensconced in his work.
“Don’t apologize either.” He added as he saw the gears turning in Ioder’s head. The Emperor likely realized he was not being the best of hosts at the moment. Stretching his arms above his head, Harry elicited a yawn and removed his vest. With the dark garment discarded, he already felt immensely better.
And while he was at it, he might as well make himself comfortable. Untucking his shirt, Harry’s hands moved to pull the shirt over his head –
“What are you doing?” Ioder questioned - eyes wide as he regarded the young Don mid shirt removal.
“I’m taking my shirt off.” Harry answered simply. He opened his mouth to question if there was a problem but then he had to briefly consider where he was.
Oh that’s right…people are worried about propriety here….
He lifted the shirt up and off anyways,  dropping it on the couch next to him.
“Harry!” Ioder scolded, face a light shade of pink as he tried not to stare too intently.
“It’s hot.” Harry regarded with a shrug. “Besides….” He turned his head to the side, a suggestive look on his face. “It’s not anything you haven’t seen before.” Harry withheld the smirk threatening to burst forth at the way Ioder’s cheeks flushed before he looked away. The young Don chuckled to himself, smug with this victory. Ioder went back to work once his face returned to a normal shade, but Harry wasn’t making things easy for him.
Perhaps it was a low blow, distracting Ioder the way he was with his bare torso.
And the young Emperor was certainly distracted. He stole the occasional glance as Harry sat back to lounge on the couch once more, the Don feeling quite relieved with his skin exposed. With all the sun he’d soaked up recently, his skin had tanned considerably, especially the front of his chest where he showed most of his muscled chest.
Now Harry wasn’t a narcissist, but he couldn’t help but admit it was a pretty damn good look on him. Catching Ioder staring out the corner of his eye was all the confirmation that he needed. He closed his eyes and listened to the sound of Ioder’s pen as he wrote, a contented bliss took over him at how comfortable things had become with a few simple garments removed.
In fact, he almost drifted off to sleep.
Almost.
The sound of Ioder’s chair shuffling back switched his brain back into alertness. Maybe he was taking a break? Ioder sometimes scooted the chair back to get more room to stretch.
However he didn’t hear the groan come as it normally did when Ioder did this. Instead, he felt the presence of the young Emperor much closer to him than before. Harry opened his eyes to see what Ioder was up to when the other blonde was actually right in front of him.
“Iod-“
Harry tried to sit up to ask what was wrong when Ioder pushed Harry’s shoulders back against the couch, the Emperor lifting his legs to straddle him.
“It’s not nice to tease.” Ioder scolded, but it lacked the disciplinary bite it usually did when he was reprimanding the young Don. Instead it held a hint of mischief, with no short amount of lust.
Harry had to admit – Ioder lasted much longer than he thought he would. The Don’s arms wrapped around Ioder’s waist, drawing the other man closer. “You know I have every intention of following through…” he answered, voice low and suggestive.
He stretched up to kiss Ioder but Ioder leaned down instead, placing a soft kiss on the tiny scar on the side of his neck, warm hands lightly tracing the sensitive flesh across his once injured collarbone and chest. The sudden physical contact elicited a moan Harry hadn’t even realized he was holding in. Pliant lips rested against the young Don’s ear, warm breath causing Harry to shutter as Ioder spoke.
“Not if I don’t let you.”
The tanned blonde raised an eyebrow in inquiry. Ioder – Mr. Pacifist – able to subdue someone twice his size? He’s seen Ioder talk down people much stronger than him, but Harry? Did he really think he had an edge over him that would keep him submissive?
Ioder seemed to sense Harry’s apprehension and Harry could almost feel the smirk coming from behind his calm expression. “I notice things about you too Harry.” He kissed along Harry’s jaw, sending sparks down the Don’s spine. “I’d noticed this a while ago but…” Ioder trailed off as he kissed down the other blonde’s neck. Harry’s eyes fluttered shut, finding he didn’t much mind letting the young Emperor take the reins now and then.
“But?” Harry inquired, leaning his head back to allow Ioder better access.
Hands traveled down Harry’s sides to the dip of his hips, tracing gently over the scar along his hip bone. Harry’s eyes shot open as he bucked his waist up at Ioder’s touch, a soft gasp escaping his mouth.
“But you really like it when I touch your scars like that.”
If looks could kill….well…Harry could never kill Ioder, but he certainly wanted to upend him from his lap and wipe that smug expression off his face.
“I’ll touch them all you’d like later, so be patient and wait for me to finish my work so there won’t be any distractions. Okay?” Ioder asked, lips curled up in a sickeningly innocent smile. His actions betrayed that sweet smile however, as his fingers gently traced Harry’s chest.
“You say that…but you’re not stopping…” Harry pointed out.
Ioder’s smile turns into a bit of a smirk. “You don’t sound like you’re complaining….”
“Got nothing to complain about.” Harry smirks back, hands moving to Ioder’s waist. Before they can find purchase however, Ioder pulls back, sauntering off to his desk and leaving Harry slightly miffed.
He does take a small bit of satisfaction in the way Ioder squirms uncomfortably in his seat, face slightly flushed.
Good, he is affected by it…
Harry settles back onto the couch, heat long forgotten as he tries to calm down his hard-on.
How could he let such a weakness become apparent? And how could Ioder use it against him like that?
And why was he strangely alright with all of it?
Those would have to be answers for another time, but for now…
He settled for simply enjoying the way his scars buzzed from Ioder's lingering touch and the anticipation of things to come once Ioder finished his work.

Tales of Secret Santa 2019
For @yoshigali! =D
Hello and Happy New Year!
I tried to fit as many of your suggested prompts into this piece as possible, but in the end I couldn’t put the rest of the Vesperia crew in without them ending up as little blobs in the background.
I went for the girls having a good time together as the main focus, drinking delicious hot beverages before going back skiing. Colette has hot cocoa with marshmallows, Anise has coffee, Estelle is of legal drinking age where I’m from has some non-alcoholic fruit punch because you shouldn’t drink and ski, and Leia went for another nice coffee.
I had a lot of fun sketching Anise’s hair as really curly in the first draft and because I liked it a lot, I eventually went with a slightly darker skin tone for her than how she looks in canon to match her hair even more.
Clothes-wise, at first I thought I’d go with something similar to their canon costumes, but then I decided that since it’s a more modern setting I can just go with completely original designs that fit them (as far as I am concerned). Colette e.g. is in red to match Lloyd, who also made the hat for her. Leia I thought should be really POPPIN’ so I went with the really saturated colours. Estelle looks good in blue and I liked Anise in a huge, furry parka.
Lastly I first read your prompt as suggesting DON Whitehorse/Ioder and while I was a little confused, my initial sketch had the Don carry Ioder on one shoulder hahahaha.
I really hope you like it!! I stop rambling now! Happy New Year and I hope you had a great Christmas! =D

He didn't know when, but it was inevitable he was going to be questioned about why he showed up here on his own. They knew, as well as he knew, that one lone person wouldn't be able to do anything by themselves in this kind of enemy territory. Well, physically anyway. Gathering information was still possible. Their numbers, at least aboard this ship, were more evident, and he would also be able to get a feel for their level of hostility.
That of course would mean nothing if they decided to kill him. Once someone could see the inside of their enemy's situation, they were still some form of a threat. Letting them go put them at risk unless they could guarantee the person's silence somehow, and Yuri wasn't actually sure how he could manage that. Not being within the knights themselves didn't guarantee to the enemies that he would still keep his mouth shut.
Really, had no plan. He had moved before he had time to think. Waiting would have just meant the enemy would have gotten away and it would have been out of his hands to decide. Between rationality and impulsiveness, he knew where on that scale he was. Trying to word that though? He was mostly at a loss. He could admit everything flat out and find some excuse for it maybe, but it still came down to him being here by choice.
So far the guards who had dragged him here weren't leaving, only releasing their grip on him and probably looking for the same answer, so with a light breath he avoided the question. "Repede is with Karol and Raven - or at least, he was when I last saw them." He glanced at the guards before stepping away from them, sitting by Flynn. It was obvious that they knew each other now, so the likelihood of Yuri being viewed as someone to keep under close watch was a lot more likely. Anyone close to the commandant wasn't getting off that easy. He sure as shit wasn't talking his way out of that one. "Myyy bad. I didn't think this through at all."
Unfortunately the captain came back relatively quickly. Ugh, seriously? It started out awkward - silent. The captain was watching him, obviously trying to understand the motivation of a lone person getting on their ship with zero safety measures. If he had shown up with a dangerous weapon or magic that could harm a whole group at once, it would have no doubt made sense to him, but Yuri's clear lack of initiative was apparently baffling for him. "Still not planning to share your motivations?"
Now Yuri had to let out the big sigh as his back hit the wall behind him with the strength of exasperation. How was he supposed to say he got on board just so he could check on one person with that one person right there? Not just any one person, but someone who wouldn't have agreed with the decision? But the captain was waiting for an answer, and no answer at all would no doubt be seen as resistance.
"I wanted to-", he paused, trying to phrase it in a way that sounded less like he had just panicked and made a split second decision. Almost impossible, given the time he'd had to "think" about it. "...check on someone I know. I knew they were taken here. Unfortunately it really isn't any more grandiose or deeper than that. I didn't get on board here with the kind of intentions you're expecting."
But the captain raised an eyebrow at that, and Yuri was dreading having to explain this further. "You got yourself stranded in enemy territory to 'check on someone'?"
Yuri gave it a second or two before responding with the briefest sort-of-answer he could. "...Uh... Yup. It's really not much more noble than that." He could still reason with it to himself at least - he wasn't much help in the grand scheme of... well, anything. The whole thing on the knights' and helper guilds' ends would be a group effort. Realistically, they didn't need him, and much less so when they had multiple others of high authority to call upon. Natz, Harry, Kaufman, Ioder, Raven... Yuri was just another combat hand among many. He trusted the others to handle things from their end. His place in all of this was really just anything on a whim.
They would be fine. The best thing he could do for his part was make sure the shining star of the knights themselves was also fine. That at least was one thing he was used to doing. He was better suited to something like this than sitting around trying to make battle plans and preparing. Heck, maybe all that prison time made him the best person to handle this.
Well... at least that sort of solved his poor decision making.
Flynn didn't intend to get caught.
But he would rather it be him who got caught than anyone else on his team. He took responsibility for his actions and wanted to protect his Knights from potential consequences. He knew that his fellow Knights would not be able to handle the repercussions of getting caught, so he willingly took the fall to shield them from harm. Flynn believed that it was his duty as their leader to protect his team at all costs, even if it meant sacrificing himself.
As he was led by the enemy with his hands tied behind him and blindfolded, Flynn couldn't help but worry about how his absence would affect his team. Would Sodia be able to handle the leadership responsibilities in his absence? Would the Knights be able to stay united and strong without him? The uncertainty weighed heavily on his mind, but he had faith in his team and hoped that they would be able to overcome this challenge without him. Flynn took a deep breath and tried to focus on the present. He trusted his team to make the best decisions they could and to do whatever was necessary to succeed. He was determined to return as soon as possible and ensure the success of his mission.
As he was led into the room, Flynn felt the blindfold being removed, revealing a dimly lit space. He was then forcefully pushed down to the floor, his hands still tied behind him. The room was eerily quiet, and Flynn's heart raced as he anxiously awaited what would come next. Once the guard had left, Flynn adjusted himself so he was sitting up, his back against a wall as he watched the door. With each passing moment, his anticipation grew, and he couldn't help but wonder what awaited him beyond that door. Flynn knew that he needed to stay alert and ready for whatever would come next. But as he watched the door, he saw people who had been captured being thrown in with him. Their faces were bruised and battered, their spirits broken. Flynn's heart sank as he realized the extent of the enemy's cruelty and brutality. He knew that they were all in grave danger and that their survival would depend on their ability to stick together and find a way out of this nightmare.
Flynn kept his eyes on the door, biting his lower lip deeply enough that he could taste blood. The sight of the bruised and battered captives only intensified his determination to protect his fellow Knights and people. His mind racing, Flynn couldn't help but think of Yuri and hope the reckless fool was safe. He knew Yuri had a knack for getting himself into trouble, but also had unwavering determination and resourcefulness. It was then that Flynn's heart raced even faster as he saw Yuri, the reckless fool, being thrown into the same prison. He felt a mix of relief and worry, knowing Yuri's presence meant they could rely on each other. However, he fearfully feared what danger lay ahead for them both.
But Flynn was also upset knowing Yuri had been caught on purpose. He couldn't help but feel frustrated with his friend's reckless actions, knowing he put himself in danger. "Why are you here Yuri? Where is Repede? You damn fool, I hoped you weren't captured. So if Sodia needed you..." Flynn's conflicted emotions swirled within him, making it difficult to meet Yuri's gaze. He didn't know whether to be relieved that his friend was safe or upset that Yuri's reckless actions had landed them both in this dangerous situation. Flynn sighed and shook his head, unable to express his mixed emotions. He knew that Yuri's actions had consequences and that he couldn't keep risking his life like this. He simply wished that Yuri would listen to him and stay safe.

The Beginning of Forever (ToV)
I gotta say, the fact that the game ends with all the world's blastia turning into spirits, I'm shocked and somewhat disappointed at the lack of post-game spirit world speculation. I kind of like a Shaman King-esque situation where spirits (weaker spirits) are tiny floating figures that can lend a person of their choosing their power or empower items. I also like the idea that the barrier blastia became city spirits that can act in their own interests but also protect their respective cities. Eventually. After Estelle ran around for a year or two trying to talk the spirits into being cooperative. Title: The Beginning of Forever Fandom: Tales of Vesperia Rating: G Word Count: 2618 In Responds to: Fluri Week 2019: Sweet Sunday Characters: Flynn, Yuri, cameo by Judith and a couple OCs Summary: Future fic, it's the first day of the rest of Flynn's life. Flynn wakes up with the sun, even though he doesn't have to anymore. For a moment he's disoriented, mind automatically shuffling through his schedule, making lists of all the things he has to do in order to prepare for his first meeting and stalling out when he remembers he doesn't have any today. Or for the foreseeable future. He lays in bed, even though his body is already becoming restless, and wonders how the hell he's going to survive the rest of his life. Mornings in Aurnion are chilly most times of the year so, when it's time for the markets to open and Flynn finally leaves, he pulls on a coat. It's admittedly too fancy for something as simple as shopping, a parting gift from Ioder, but it's currently the only one he's unpacked. The house is on the outskirts of Aurnion- it's current outskirts, the original wall had long been taken down as the town grew -so it's a bit of a walk but it allows Flynn time to enjoy the sun and scent of dew-laden grass and the nearby forest.
The market itself is a little on the hectic side, mainly from all the people wanting to talk to him and give him gifts, welcoming him to the town he'd helped found. Then a couple knights joined the crowd, and the town's knight commander, then the mayor and even a couple guild representatives and Flynn will absolutely deny that he ended up making some awkward excuse and farewell before taking what groceries he'd managed to buy and running. He hopes the novelty of his presence wears off quickly. As he clears the last row of houses, Flynn spots Ba'ul in the open area behind his house- part of the reason for getting it, really -and quickens his pace. The Entelexeia hasn't changed a bit, though Flynn swears he gets a bigger each time Flynn sees him. As Flynn expects, Judith is there and he takes her hand in greeting. "Ba'ul, Judith. Always a pleasure." "Same." She reaches forward with her other hand, brushing her fingertips along his jaw. "The beard suits you." Flynn laughs- he's had that beard for over a decade now. "You always say that." "And it's always true. Karol asked me to apologize for missing your retirement ceremony on his behalf." "It's alright. You were all there for the important one." The one held a week earlier in the Lower Quarter which, despite spending nearly forty years living in and working out of the palace, still felt more like home to him. It had been a sprawling, raucous party that had lasted nearly to dawn, music and lights, dancing and laughter and so many people from all over eager to tell him how proud they were and wishing the best in his future. In contrast, his official retirement ceremony was as expected for an upper class event: stuffy with decorum and full of nobles and dignitaries and politicians who pretended they'd always liked Flynn and would miss him dreadfully. Estelle and Rita were about the only people worth sticking through it for. Especially when Rita would 'accidentally' wheel over the feet of particularly annoying 'well wishers'. If anyone asks, Flynn will freely admit he's glad he'll never have to go to one of those things again. "Speaking of which, Yuri brought your gift inside already." All the people he'd known and grew up with in the Lower Quarter had decided to make him a quilt, each square a message from a person or family. It ended up being about the size of a wall tapestry and Flynn had asked Judith to bring it to Aurnion for him. She turns back toward Ba'ul and Flynn asks, "Are you leaving already?" Judith winks back over her shoulder. "I'd hate to get in the way of your reunion." That enigmatic smile and her taste in clothes are the only things that hasn't changed. Honestly, Flynn is somewhat jealous of that. He hadn't thought himself a vain man until he began to visibly slide out of his physical prime, pushing himself harder through his workouts and trying to ignore the aches and pains that lingered longer until Estelle and Ioder and, finally, Yuri banded together to knock sense back into him. But Judith didn't care about how the passage of time changed her looks, unashamed of showing off her wrinkles and stretch marks and rolls. Flynn supposed having her as a sort of role model helped him cope with his own physical imperfections. "Besides, we'll be back soon enough for your house warming party." Flynn just huffs at her in reply, waving Judith and Ba'ul farewell. Then when he enters the house he's greeted by, "Well, well. If it isn't the former commandant," Flynn's breath catches. Sure, they'd seen each other a week ago but his breath always catches, his heart always skips a beat whenever he sees Yuri for the first time. It has since they were in their twenties. "Took you long enough." Flynn can't help a fond smile even as he shoots back, "Not everyone's retirement process is as simple as telling Karol you'll be retiring in five months." Yuri just shrugs. "You get the better pension, so trade off. By the way, Estelle know you stole one of her dogs?" Flynn reflexively looks down at Thierry at Yuri's side, his tail wagging lightly as Flynn's attention. "Estelle gave him to me. She figured now I'd have time to train a dog." Thierry's young, hasn't yet grown out of his puppy stage entirely. He's also Repede's great-something grandson though, asides from his tail, there's no other resemblance. He's mostly black sable with pale tan patches on his chest and around his red eyes. Flynn isn't certain if Thierry is stockier than Repede was or if maybe Estelle spoils her pets overmuch. "Just how I wanted to spend my retirement years," Yuri sighs, all for show, "babysitting even more things." "I'm pretty sure it's usually the other way around. Isn't that right, Luna?" Yuri's right hand from just below the elbow unravels into a dark mist before reforming into a long, flat spirit, not unlike a ribbon eel whose body is made out of midnight and stars, spine rimmed an iridescent yellow. Luna's full, glowing eyes curves into happy crescents as she swirls around Flynn in greeting. Flynn lets the spirit weave between his fingers. "You've been keeping Yuri in line for me, haven't you?" She trills in response. "I swear," Yuri says in mock indignation, "she likes you better than me." From behind Yuri's thick braid of silver hair, another spirit pops out, hissing at Flynn in actual indignation. Flynn winces and chuckles. "I'm sorry I didn't wake you, Aska. I only went to the market." Aska, a three legged bird-like creature with a ring for a body and a tiny sun floating inside, isn't placated, glaring at Flynn while allowing Yuri to scratch under its chin and coo about how mean and thoughtless Flynn is. Thierry grumbles at the lack of attention directed to himself and goes to thrust his head under Flynn's hand for skritches. "How'd Zaphias take you leaving?" Yuri asks as he takes Flynn's groceries and heads toward the kitchen. "Well enough, I think." Flynn goes to stand in the entry way, watching as Yuri begins to cook, their spirits finally switching back to their preferred people. Luna fashions herself back into Yuri's hand to help him cook. "It took a while for them to understand that I'd be leaving- really leaving -and that they'd need to work with the new commandant." Zaphias resides in the Sword Stair, right where their core used to sit. It had taken both Flynn and Estelle years of careful coaxing and handling before they agreed to lend their power, under direction of Flynn and Ioder, to protecting Zaphias instead of acting out on their own. "You think they'll listen to Ilka?" "I can only hope." Flynn has the utmost confidence in the new commandant, otherwise he wouldn't have retired. "I've seen her work with the spirits protecting Halure and the ports. I'm certain she can handle Zaphias. But," he says because he knows that look Yuri is side-eying him with, "that's not anything I need to worry about any more. So what was so dire it needed Brave Vesperia's founding members to get back into action?" Yuri waves a hand and says something vague about council troubles- Dahngrest has been trying to implement an actual system of government to avoid another succession issue -which he obviously doesn't care about on top of being retired and goes into far more detail about how apparently Karol and Harry's granddaughters nearly eloped and that Karol was needed to mediate his family on the issue. "It's not that anyone doesn't want them getting hitched," Yuri explains as they finish up their breakfast, "it's just the girls don't want a big affair but Harry's the former Don and Karol's the founder of one of the biggest guilds so people keep butting in." Flynn hums, draining the last of his tea. "I believe I'm still a legally recognized officiant. Just to throw that out there." Given one of the women involved is the daughter of Yuri's -and, by extension, Flynn's -godson, he feels obligated to help where he can. Yuri laughs, "If it gets that bad, I'm sure Karol'll be happy to ship 'em our way." He gets up to let Aska and Luna out of the house, Thierry playfully chasing and nipping after them. As they clean up, Flynn talks about the weekend he spent in Halure with Estelle and Rita and their family- the Ristelle Mob, as Yuri dubbed them -as well as the trip from Zaphias, being picked up by Patty despite her technically still being a wanted criminal. She gave Flynn her obligatory threat of kidnapping Yuri for her harem in the same breath she promised to come for the house warming party. Yuri just laughs. And when Flynn mentions swinging by Zaude to pay his respects to Raven, Yuri looks both sad and fond. It had been by Raven's request- when he refused to let Rita find an alternative to his failing heart -that he be buried in such a remote place where few, even now, were allowed to go. A place, he said, where he'd no longer be bothered, his simple grave kept company by two equally simple markers, one for Yeager and the other marked Casey. There had been flowers put there recently, Flynn notes, likely by Gauche and Droite who had all but disappeared after the Adephagos. On paper Flynn had, due to their involvement with Leviathan's Claw, put a warrant out for their arrest but put minimal resources into actually finding them. After a few years with barely even rumors of their presence, Flynn had quietly shuffled those warrants to where all others would eventually forget about them. He wonders, every now and again, if they ever a found a way to be happy. A finger roughly pokes him in the forehead. "Ow!" Flynn says out of reflex rather than pain. "What was that for?" "Because you're gonna scratch up my pan if you keep wiping it like that," Yuri says. "And also I know when you're thinking about work. Or what used to be your work," he added with a very pointed stress on the word. "Sorry," Flynn replies because it's not worth lying about it, putting away the now thoroughly dried pan. He takes a moment to watch Yuri wipe the sink and then his hand dry and stretch his arms up and back until his spine curves and joints pop. "So?" Flynn asks. "Now what?" "How was your walk into town?" Flynn sighs. Yuri grins right back. "Yeah, that's what I thought. Think we'd be better off taking a nap right now." Flynn looks at him as if he'd just said something completely alien. "Nap?" "Yup. I got up too damn early to get here and I'll bet you woke up too damn early yourself. And you gotta learn to take it easy so," Yuri grabs Flynn's shoulder and spins him around until he's facing toward the bedroom, "nap." "But... Thierry-" "Can use the dog door to get back in. And if he hasn't figured out how to to use it, Luna and Aska can show 'im." Despite his protests, Flynn makes it to the bedroom with only a bit of prodding though he feels somewhat foolish changing back into his sleeping clothes at Yuri's insistence. He's much more amendable to the idea when it becomes apparent that Yuri is joining him. As they get into bed, arranging themselves around each other with practiced ease, Flynn gets startled when, instead of tucking his face against Flynn's neck as he usually does, Yuri leans in close enough to cause Flynn to push into the mattress reflexively. "What?" "When did you last spend any time in the sun? I can see your freckles again." He chuckles. "Forgot you had 'em, actually." "Your memory must be going," Flynn quips dryly, "because you said the exact same thing last week." "Can't help it if I'm not used to you being so pale." Yuri laces their fingers together, holding their joined hands up where Flynn can easily see. "You're almost as pale as me now." He's not, really, but there's no denying Flynn is not nearly as tanned as he used to be. He lets their hands drop and Yuri slides around a bit so he can prop his head up on Flynn's chest. Flynn doesn't bother attempting to crane his neck to look at him, he knows that angle is too awkward on a good day. "So how was your first twenty four hours as a free man?" Yuri asks. Flynn's mouth and brow creases as he bluntly says, "Boring." Yuri doesn't try very hard to hide the fact that he's laughing. "I know how that is. Haven't figured out what you're going to do with yourself yet?" Flynn sighs. "When I first started the retirement process, I thought I had plenty of time to do so." "But you didn't," Yuri states, apparently unsurprised. "No." He snorts, then stretches back out next to Flynn. "Good luck with that." Flynn lifts a hand up just to drop it knuckles down on Yuri's back. "You could offer suggestions." "I have a hard enough time keeping myself busy, thanks." But he hums and tilts his head to look at Flynn thoughtfully. "Is there anything you've wanted to do but never had the time?" He looks up at the ceiling, dwelling on the question and coming up blank. Yuri snorts again but doesn't turn away. After a long moment, Flynn asks, "Should we get married?" "Oh, it only took you thirty years to ask," Yuri teases. "Only because I got tired of waiting for you to." "Couldn't. Made a bet with Judy 'bout who'd crack and ask first." Flynn turns to give Yuri a mild glare. "You did not." "Didn't I?" Honestly it's absurd enough to go either way. "In that case you owe me half of whatever you won." "Yeah, yeah." Yuri scoots over to rest his head on Flynn's chest, fingers scratching through his beard. "Yes, by the way." "Hm?" "To getting married. Your memory must be going, old man." Flynn rolls them over, pressing Yuri into the bed. "I'll show you how old I am." "Good idea. I better sample the goods before committing." Flynn sighs. "I can't believe I'm marrying you." "Me, either," Yuri quips but, as they kiss, Flynn can taste the words and I can't wait on his lips.

about Repede's puppies, one is given to Estelle (lala), another is for Flynn (niren) and the last (blanco)? Ioder? Harry (Whitehorse)?
yes, that’s how the first litter of repede’s puppies gets distributed!! harry whitehorse gets a puppy, supposedly for political reasons but yuri would die before he left any of his grandpuppies with someone he didn’t trust, so you can rest assured harry deserves that puppy.
repede’s gf (tiffa) has three litters, and the final roster is:
round 1- niren (flynn/yuri’s, but stays with flynn), laelaps/lala (estelle’s), and blanco (harry’s)
round 2- duke (judy’s) and egg (karol’s)
round 3- casey (raven’s), seifer (patty’s), and jeb (rita’s)
…and then the imperial shepherds finally get tiffa fixed, because she’s supposed to be a sheepdog and not out of work for months at a time with puppies

[To Harry from Ioder] ‘am i making you uncomfortable?’
@phoenixadragon / @bydcfault
“ truthfully? yeah. ya are. but it’s me, not you. ”
Tumblr media
Not like Harry really cared how his body and mind reacted to somebody else half the time. So long as he could figure out how to work with the Knights for the benefit of both the Union and the Empire, that’d be more than enough for him. Because if his grandpa couldn’t do this…
For many reasons.
“ either way, we need ta figure out how to fix these schedules ta help build another city an’ protect it from the monsters? ”

She looked at him for a moment before taking out a necklace she had been wearing, holding onto the ruby stone that hung from its chain.
"Honestly? Trying to keep my hope higher than what it wants to be. I was worried about so many people. I got a letter from my father not too long ago. He dropped a bit of a bombshell on me. If anything its probably why he hasnt been living here in Zaphias for years now. I got that right after the hunting blades caused the commotion in the arena." Yeah she knew about that. It's why she felt so bad for Ioder and the Don. Of course now her sympathy went to Harry.
"Honestly, I'm scared. I lost people years ago and now...i'm in danger of losing more. If it wasn't for the fact that i'm helping those who need it, i'd probably be off on my own searching for my parents." Only to have some security. "That wouldn't look too pretty though. At some point i would end up being a depressed little noble girl in an inn..."
"But those of the Lower Quarter were forgotten and couldn't escape. Your men noticed so i began barking order and Leblanc was thr one who got us here. Together we are here safe and sound. Just thankful that was after i ran back home for my necklace." She smiled as she watched a couple of the kids tried to play with Repede.
"I'm not worried about Duke, I'm...wait, that sword was Dein Nomos?!" Did everyone she met have some secret or two to keep from her? Well, that was actually normal she figured. But for that sword to be in Duke's hands...she had a few theories now.
"Yeah, I know how he is. Shows up one day and is gone the next several weeks." She really did deserve a prize for finding the most unobtainable people. She looked at Raven again, knowing he was struggling a bit, so she shook off her thoughts.
"You're fine. From what I can gather, you had a really rough time recently. You need to recover as much as you can at the moment. While you still have the moment." She sighed a bit.
"I kept them all in check. Leblanc wasn't in as much need of direction but I kept all three on track and even grabbed a few things from some nearby rooms so people had blankets as well. We also agreed to keep everyone here so we can account for everyone's safety easier." She sighed again as she thought about the one part he said that she was trying to avoid like a plague. she already lost her best friend ten years ago. She didn't want to lose Raven or Duke. Even if both made sure to keep the wool over her eyes about them.

I remember coming across a fic where Flynn travels to a dark future in which the Empire is a dictatorship and Yuri became evil and one of its enforcers (long story). Can you a imagine a scenario where post-game Yuri travels to a bad future where everything Brave Vesperia worked for ended up making things worse, his friends died or became shadows of themselves, and Flynn became like Alexei because Yuri "died" or that Yuri ended up doing something that pushed Flynn in that direction.
Oh, I know what fic you're talking about! I didn't finish because I got distracted, but it's a very entertaining premise.
I've also written something loosely similar to your idea in For Want of a Nail, which shows a bad-end version of the game in which Yuri died as a kid, Flynn was raised by Alexei and everything is terrible.
But I love the premise of time-travelling to a bad future! What if when Yuri takes out the Adephagos, something goes wrong. He's wielding a huge mass of energy all swirling around and changing the world, and somehow, it vaporizes him and sends him into the future. To everyone else, though, it appears that he's died. So they return home from Tarqaron having defeated the Adephagos but losing Yuri, making it very bittersweet.
And after that, it all sort of crumbles. Keeping Brave Vesperia going without Yuri is too sad, Karol and Judith drift apart. Rita throws herself into her work, blaming herself for the conversion going wrong and maybe if she'd planned better, Yuri would still be here. Flynn becomes even more of a workaholic than usual as a way to distract himself.
Maybe things get really rough after losing blastia. Suddenly, monster attacks on settlements skyrocket. Injuries and illnesses that were traditionally cured with healing artes have no cure. Farms that were protected by barriers are now hard to keep monsters out of, and way more expensive to hire guards for the farmers, leading to food prices shooting up. No more aque blastia means sources of clean water become less readily available, especially in poorer areas, and waterborne illnesses run rampant.
And the thing is, all of them knew this was what they were in for, at least partially, but after Yuri died it all just felt more overwhelming than they were ready for. The farther they get from the Adephagos, the harder it is to remember how dire the situation was when they're currently staring plague and famine in the face. The rest of the populace forgets too, especially those who didn't even understand the situation to begin with, and come to resent Brave Vesperia for bringing this upon them.
Flynn is, of course, determined to steer the Empire through the crisis. He feels extra responsible, because he agreed to the plan to destroy the Adephagos so it's his responsibility to fix it. He starts down the same path Alexei did - of wanting to save the Empire while growing increasingly disillusioned with the Council and every other civilian he has to work with. Yuri isn't there to pull him back, and every step toward authoritarianism he takes justifies the next so that it will all be worth it in the end.
Tensions are high all over the world, and war breaks out between the Union and the Empire for control of scarce resources. The party members are split even further apart, with Estelle, Rita, and Flynn living in the Empire while Karol, Judith, and Raven live in Dahngrest. Flynn declares martial law and assumes absolute control of the Empire, stating that he only intends to wield this power for the duration of the crisis, but crises keep piling up and it's been a few years now.
And this is the future Yuri shows up in. He wakes up in the ruins of Tarqaron, thinking he's been missing for a couple of hours - when it's actually been ten years. So he goes strolling to the nearest town and gets hit by this reality. His goal is get the hell out of here and go home, where he hopes that he can warn people like Flynn, Ioder, and Harry what to expect and avoid this future, but there's no readily apparent means of going home and in the meantime he wants to at least find and help his friends.

Hi, I'm probably kinda late but I wanted to ask you, even if I am almost sure about it, that fanfiction you are (or probably was) writing about Harry, is Harry x Ioder right? I ended up freaking out when I saw this post because I kind of ship them, also, I hope your doing great! And sorry for bothering and for my bad English(The post I am talking about is that one you asked to guess the fic ship).
Tumblr media
This post just made my morning! So I am doing great thank you! (And your English is so good, don't worry!)
I totally forgot about that story until now, and I went back to read it to remember what it was about and you are right! It is about Harry x Ioder. I've shipped them a long time and I still do to this day! My fanfiction back then was WAY better than the stuff I write now, but I am glad you liked the story! 😭 Even though they did not stay together in that particular tale, I have always found them cute together. 😍 Thank you for reading, it really makes me happy.
