โค๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ #ArtIsAWeapon A #Harlem street where she once lived has been renamed to honor #entrepreneur #activist #organizer #MadamCJWalker! (๐ŸŽจ in background of photo is #mural at #HarlemHospital pavillion) Reposted from @aleliabundles - It still is sinking in that thousands of people from all over the world will pass this Harlem street sign each year. If even just a few are curious enough to google Madam C. J. Walker and A'Lelia Walker then our work of five decades will be worth it. And if some connect the dots that the Walker women lived on 136th Street in a fabulous building that once stood where the Countee Cullen Branch of the NYPL stands, I will be delighted. I am filled with gratitude that so many friends attended. Allison Davis, Jill Nelson, David Stone, Maxine Griffith, Karen Jewett, @ershipp @1francissmith Lana Turner, @erickwashington, @reddick_harlem Sankofa Exhibit and more (If you were there, please let me know so I can add your name.) And there are so many people to thank: the teams at MCJW Beauty and Sundial Brands, Richelieu Dennis, Raymond Lewis, Jacob Morris (who submitted the original application more than a decade ago, Assemblywoman Inez E. Dickens) and a dozen more. Because it takes a village. #madamcjwalker #aleliawalker #BlackExcellence #Legacy #BlackWomenTrailblazers #harlemreanaissance #harlem #TraScapades #ArtIsAWeapon https://www.instagram.com/p/B0LnKqwFczW/?igshid=1b23yb8pdkrpl
