REGARDING THE FUCK STOOL: Harlan did a bit on an Observation Duty stream where he was talking as jarthur and . here's a transcript since i can't find a linkable clip:

ARTHUR: This room, it's missing something.

ARTHUR: I don't know, there used to be another little fuck stool at the bottom of the bed

JOHN [perplexed]: A fuck stool?

ARTHUR: Yes, a stool that you could fuck on.

JOHN: Well what makes it special from any other stool?

JOHN: What do you mean?

ARTHUR: Correct.

JOHN: We sleep, and...

ARTHUR: We fuck.

JOHN: Well done, Arthur.

ARTHUR [heartfelt]: You too.

The part that really gets me about it is the repeated use of the word "we".

I think it's starting to go both ways a bit. Like John is changing for sure. I loooove his character development. But Arthur... Arthur was just a guy before all this. Just a 1930s PI working out of his lil office, doing his lil think with Peter/Parker Yang. Now he's become so mentally and physically torn, scarred despite never actually laying eyes on the things he's faced, to the point that he's *arguing with John* making a case *for* murdering not only Lawson, but Uncle too. John has become the morality in the argument, despite being the elderich horror who has, and likely still will, committed atrocities beyond words. They're almost... switching. I'm really excited to see where Harlan goes with them both, and then to re-listen & see how different they are from the beginning.

i just think it's so interesting how malevolent takes the trope of a human being overwhelmed and changed by witnessing eldritch and incomprehensible horrors and reverses it. now it's the eldritch being witnessing human horrors: grief, suffering, violence done to and by arthur. john is the one changed at his core, the one who recoils and expresses horror at the things he sees. i just think it's neat
